HAPPY MONDAY!! 20 new early bird book releases are ready and waiting for us! Lots of cute Christmas-y comedies, and one super-dark!! That one to the left, in fact. I’m totally into the cover. Creepy and intriguing.
THREE THINGS:
1.) Finally, my new roof is happening as of today! Well as of 8am this morning, and wow it’s loud. LOL! My dog is very concerned. 😉
2.) My boyfriend made THE BEST Minestrone soup I have ever had in my life. In fact, it’s the best soup I’ve ever had, no matter what kind. I know he’s more of a meat and potatoes man and likes to smoke a lot of meats, and grill (of course) but HOLY MOLY. I literally ate it every single day. Annnnnd now there’s none left. *sigh*
3.) P.S. The latest hurricane that came in last week didn’t do any more damage (in my area, at least). I was worried with our roof being compromised that it would be crazy, but all is well.

Mimic by Yolanda Olson & C.A. Rene <— POST-APOCALYPTIC, DARK & TABOO!!! “…With her last dying breath, she told me that I’m special. That I can fix this, and so I hunt. Scavenge for the scraps that haven’t been turned to poison, for the animals that can provide a meal for the ones I’m hiding in my home. But that’s a dangerous thing now. I’ve stumbled across a family that hunts more than just animals. Anything they see as a threat, they’ll take down. Find the cure or watch what’s left of humanity die. I have to take this burden on my shoulders because I promised her that I would. I just didn’t know how difficult things would get until I saw them. Because he has something I want, and I won’t stop until I take it from him…“

Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week already? This month is flying by fast. I got some Christmas decor up on the porch last night and the tree is up, not decorated yet. It takes me about a month to complete stuff like this and I had to rearrange everything. I’m starting to see why some people don’t bother decorating anymore when the kids are grown. 😅
1. I got some peppermint candy cane cream cheese dip from WalMart I tried today with vanilla wafers and it’s so yum! And made peppermint mocha coffee this morning. Took a sip and it’s cold now ready for me to warm when I get time to drink and enjoy again. 😂
2. This has been a rough reading year as of late, I’m slacking majorly. But, I finished CJ Tudor’s A Sliver of Darkness. Short stories seemed the most doable for me at the moment, I liked it. Different from my norm. Now maybe can finish the Christmas book I started, Lovelight Farms.
3. Finally watched Enola Holmes this weekend. The first, now I’d like to watch the second. I liked it more than I thought I would.
I LOVE decorating, but this year, I am tapped out. It has been crazy for me, entire life change after 7 years in my house, and while it was an upgrade (though I LOVED my original house – I’m now in a bigger city and have a wonderful man by my side – and his 3 kids – all boys), I’m still adjusting.
I’m not ready to decorate. It took me a month and a half to fully unpack into this new place, and I just need a time-out. LOL!!!
I’m finally cooking again (at least a bit)… so I’ve just allowed myself time. This year was not my creative energy year. It was my life-change year, instead.
Creative energy next year. 😉
Totally get that! And good for you too, I’m glad you’re happy- now you get to enjoy. 🙂
*raises hand* I’m one of those lazy Christmas people! I want to do it, but then I think of all the cleanup after and I just don’t know. Plus our tree is artificial and covered in glitter that gets everywhere. If it weren’t so new I’d replace it. Instead I just leave it in the garage in the box. 🤦♀️
I meant to reply to Tasha’s post! Oops!
And yes… I was thinking short stories might be the way to go for me for the rest of this year. Why not, right? Some people are specifically looking for quick afternoon reads, and maybe we’ll come across some amazing ones.
It hasn’t been as satisfactory as a full novel, but I like completing them and just getting something of a story. Lol. I have trouble finding them. And most novellas I know of are continuations of series I most likely haven’t read. I’d love to find some more.
*runs to look up Enola Holmes*
I watched “My Policeman” earlier while making this list. It’s sweet, with Harry Styles who really is a pretty good actor. I’ve never been into his boy band that had everyone swooning (to be honest I was never a boy-band girl… NKOTB were HUGE when I was a teen and I didn’t know much about them – I was a metal girl in my teens <--- LOL!! 😛 ), but I do like him as an actor. It's M/M (in the closet) and... a wife (back in the 50s or 60s I guess?)
I have heard of this! Like my tbr, my watch list is long. Every night I tell myself I’ll read or watch something I’ve been wanting to watch and I just zonk out.
I’d have never pictured you as a metal girl. 😂 I believe I was into hip hop in my teens. Eminem was pretty big then also, only poster I ever had on my wall. Though when NSYNC and Backstreet Boys were big, more middle school years, I was more NSYNC. I do still like some BB songs also.
LOL!!! Yep… full metal all my life. Kiss when I was 6, and Motley Crue (my favorite throughout alllll my teens) and all sorts of hair band metal back then was totally my thing.
Then… in college, I was still into metal/thrash metal (Pantera was my favorite) but I was HUGE into grunge too.
Tee hee!!!! 😉
Wow! You started young and stuck with it. I tend to change my tastes like I change my moods. 😂
Maryse,I can’t picture your sweet innocent look put in with grunge. How about sharing the minestrone recipe? Always looking for a good one.
