<— It’s not a huge list today, but what’s on here might just be rocking worlds. Like that TIJAN latest release there to the left!!!! 😀 !!!!
And…
Three things (and umm… for a weekend completely inside with barely a toe outside in the “real world” – hermit-style, my weekend has been… different…) 😉 :
1.) My corn progress. Two real corns growing!! See ’em? But… they’re kind of small! Like… 4″? They look bigger in my picture, but trust me. They are nowhere near the size of grocery-store corn. I poke and squeeze and I feel ’em in there. But what’s up with their size? Do they take months to grow to proper-sized corns? When do we know corn is full grown? How many weeks? Or is this some bird-poop “baby-sized” corn that I know nothing about and they’re ready to be pulled? Any bird-poop corn experts out there? 😛
2.) So like… that one time? When you haven’t been out not even ONE time during the entire day (what? I was reading! 😛 ), and your alarm is still armed from the night before, and you decide since it has’t rained all weekend to go out and water your “patio garden” and you don’t hear your own alarm screeching, going off as you happily water things without a care in the world, and then you come in, and hear the crazy-screeching and then you think you got the alarm code in on time (’cause you got the text saying alarm code entered – alarm cleared), and you breath a sign of relief, and then… a few minutes later, a cop shows up at your door, and your dogs are screaming at him and you look like a homeless person in your ratty mis-matched Minnie Mouse pajamas, and your off-kilter messy bun (that you put up early that morning), and all the baby-hairs that are growing back… waving in the air, to-and-fro, and when he asks for your ID, obviously second guesses the photo with… well the “actual” presentation. *snort*. Nope. That didn’t happen to me at all. Wasn’t me. 😛
3.) Also that same day, feeling like I lost my mind from the book I’ve been reading (Tarryn Fisher’s upcoming psych-thriller love story) that had me all worked up and pacing, and hyperventilating and stressing out. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book that had me so into it, so absorbed that I felt like the heroine to THAT extent. Trauma, and second-guessing my every thought and perception. Eeeeep! Luckily the cop didn’t show up when I was feeling all crazy-headed and erratic and all delusional-like. *phew* 😉

It’s late Sunday night, but I just finished a book and HAD to come try to convince BEV to read it!!! It’s called Cinderella Boy by K Meister. Reminded me of Simon vs… which is what made me think of Bev. So do good. All the feels. Coming of age m/m, for those who like that genre. Just what I was hoping for from a summer read.
Michelle, have you ever read Dumplin’? That’s my fave Bev rec.
Yes! One of my fave Bev recs too!
I’ll look it up MichelleS.
Dont you love when you find the perfect read for a certain mood?
The saying for corn is “knee high by Fourth of July” it looks to me your right on track.
Wow!!! Thank you so much, Melissa!!! 😀 I’ll keep updating on its progress. 😉
Good morning! Happy Monday! We lost electricity for 24 hours on Saturday/Sunday because a tree fell on our lines, caught on fire, and exploded. However, I was able to read a bit because my laptop died and I couldn’t edit. I have zero extra time and I’ve had 4 library books come available the past week and a half. Figures!
Oh, and it’s raining…
You might need to wrap your whole house in a bubble!!
Oh my lord…I almost fell out of my roller chair laughing…so true though!! Bubble wrap the whole freaking neighborhood Nay!!
Right? She cannot be trusted! Even Mother Nature is working against her!
Hey, I drove for the first time since December 5 today. Yay! I’m getting out and about! And I found out at the dr the other day that I may be able to get one of the plates out of my leg later this year or early next year if I’m still having trouble with my mobility (and pain). The last thing I want is another surgery, but this not being able to bend my leg properly is for the birds!
RE: mother nature and bubble wrap. I was sitting on my front porch editing when the storms started, and I was going to sit out there and enjoy it, but the wind was blowing something fierce and I heard a branch crack. My next thought was a branch blowing up on my porch and knocking me in the head…I RAN into the house! 😂 I’m not taking any chances with my luck.
Robin–I’m so jealous! What a fabulous trip that will be! I’ve been to London (years ago), but that’s it. We went in April and froze! It was SO windy. But what history we got to see!
Yay Nay!! I cannot imagine being unable to drive for that long! I would literally want to kill people. You had to be so excited!! Thank you for making the wise choice and going inside during the storms…
I love being outside in the worst storms but I’m also always scared of a freak accident… like tempting the devil. Eeeeeeeep!!!
1. We got a Margaritaville margarita machine for this year’s retreat and plan to test it out when our pool is done. I’m currently on my “Costa Rican” diet, so I wasn’t actually going to get to drink what we make, but I saw these zero sugar/zero calorie/keto friendly mixers on FB yesterday and ordered a set! I’ll let you know how they are. Frozen margaritas are typically impossible on any diet! https://www.be-mixed.com/
2. My “Costa Rican” diet is just a name now. Yesterday the hubs stumbled across a ridiculous airfare deal to Amsterdam, so we’re trading CR for 21 days in northern Europe in February. I know we’re doing a bunch of WWII stuff on the Normandy coast but IDK what else. We have half of it figured out: Amsterdam, Haarlem, and Bayeux, France, but the rest is up in the air. It will be too cold for Loire Valley (my original plan) so we’re considering London, Brussels, and Paris, or just throwing darts at a map of villages like I did for Italy.
3. I’m currently reading Cake by J. Bengtsson and loving it! The audio is really good too so I’m going back and forth but prefer to read it. Rock star romance perfection!
Does this mean you’re now “off” the Costa Rican diet?? Cause you can bundle up for northern Europe can’t you?? Just sayin’….
I wish, but no. Now it’s more like “get ready for the retreat” diet!
The whole thing sounds amazing R. Winter in Europe. I’m going to live vicariously through you.
I might freeze to death (highs in the mid 40s) but I plan to spend most of my time in pubs!
Not gonna lie. So jealous! lol It sounds like it’ll be a lot of fun.
If you are going to be in that direction in Europe, look at Bruges, Belgium. It is called the Venice of the North and the city is located on canals. It is so beautiful. I went there with my now husband and it is a very romantic city.
I loved Cake. I recommend it to everyone I know. One of the best rock star romances ever!!
Thanks for the rec!! Bruges is exactly where I need to be location-wise. The drive from Haarlem to Bayeux is over 7 hrs. We’ll need a stopping point on the way there and back.
Have you ever watched In Bruges?
I think I tried ages ago, but I can’t stand Colin Farrell. It’s possible I overlooked Bruges yesterday because of him… 🤦♀️ Now I need to try to watch it again!
Lol.
I loved his character in Tigerland, the first I saw him, so I always have some affection for him.
OMG R!! That trip sounds AMAZING. MY DREAM trip!!!!!
Oh Maryse…I would have loved to have seen the whole thing go down with you and the cops…oh that’s right…it wasn’t you…
*snort*
That was… embarrassing. And the cop was all… So…???? You have TWO alarm systems (pointing at my freaking-out dogs). Don’t forget… they were already stressed from the alarm screeching that I wasn’t hearing outside playing in my garden… and then this stranger comes knocking on my door all scary and official-like.
1. I had a lovely weekend of rain…not getting any flowers planted around my pool…yet again. At this rate, I’m beginning to think, why bother…
2. I did read a lot…and I cooked…healthy stuff…cause I’m trying to restart my healthier diet AGAIN….
3. I’m reading three good books right now…how did I let myself get sucked into three you ask? I’m not sure. Well, actually I do know….sort of. I needed a new audio for when I was doing laundry and cooking…so I jumped into Someone Else’s Ocean by Kate Stewart (Oh My Goodness! Why have I waited this long???) So, of course, I want to read it when I’m not listening…but I’m trying to resist (or just listen all the time). I also have an ARC that releases tomorrow by Monica Murphy called Save the Date, which I’m really enjoying. Last but not least, I’m reading A Pizza My Heart by Teagan Hunter. She’s always fun to read and I really like the characters in this one! So, I’m spinning. I haven’t had three going at one time where I want to literally be reading all three….and I’m working today (dang it) ….I think I need to clone myself. But if it says quiet here, I can listen to my audio….
Ahhh yes Michele G!! The Bridezilla one!!! I got a kick out of that blurb tonight as I’m preparing the Tuesday new release list.
1. Dude passed his swimming test on Fri. So he’s now in the highest class available. Basically, clean up his forms and stamina. 😀
2. On a Dude note, the next day, he went outside and broke his new phone. Shattered the screen. He said he tripped, it fell out and shattered. No idea how it happened with deep pockets and a lip on the phone cover, but… *sighs* Meltdown commenced immediately, needless to say.
3. And again, happier note. Finished Kissed by Moonlight (The Cimmerian Cage, #2) by Cate Corvin. It’s that book I mentioned last month? I think? that was so good, and so dark, despite the cover. Still was super good and super dark. It was late and I wanted to put it down to sleep, but couldn’t because my mind wouldn’t stop thinking about it. Up until 12:30 finishing it. 😀 Seriously, 5 stars. Ironically I kept putting off reading it when it came out because it is so dark. *shrugs* The first bad thing you read in the first book is a student literally being dragged into a wall screaming by “helping hands”. Then it gets creepier.
Ugh shattering my phone. Myself and a few of my close favorites have shattered our phones a few times. Kind of devastating…
And WOW your series sounds AMAZING Tessa. I LOVE creepy!!!
I read 2 really good books over vacation. The first was Carry the World by Susan Fanetti. Thanks to those here that recommended it. I devoured every word. Definitely 5 stars for me!
The second book was Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. It was funny where I found my self laughing out loud, touching, and just so well written. It is a M/M romance about the president’s son (loved that the president was a woman in the book) and a prince in England. I debated about giving it to my teenage daughter as it is not very descriptive sexually (scenes fade to black) and she read it 3 times!
If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!! Hoping more books come out with some of the secondary characters in the book.
I have Carry the World on my short list to read soon. I’m so glad to hear more people enjoying Red, White & Royal Blue! I loved it so much too!! I hope she writes more books with the secondary characters as well!!
Dannika Darks Moonstruck (Crossbreed series) went live today! I can’t wait to read about my favorite vampire Christian Poe.
Also, Cora Reilly has a new book that went live today from the Born In Blood series. it’s Luca Vitiello. It’s Luca’s pov from the first book Bound By Honor.
Thank you Robyn!!!! 😀 Ill add them onto the Tuesday new release list. 😀
Christien Poe!! Yummy. Gotta go download that one STAT!
