Next in Line <— WORKPLACE COMEDY & IT SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!! Five pharmacists that work together and all the hijinks that goes along with customer service. 😉
And to celebrate, the author is posturing today’s post and newsletter and has some fun facts about (and behind) the book!
He says:
Next in Line was inspired by a conversation with a patient of mine years ago (who was also a published poet) whose favorite show was Scrubs. I told her about the idea of writing a comedy and she encouraged me write about my adventures or misadventures in pharmacy. That day, the concept of Next in Line was born.
Mik (Main Character) has an obsession with Trap/Trance music and keeps it hidden from the team. I wonder if they find out?
So what’s it about?
Welcome to Mortar and Pestle RX, where prescriptions are filled, patience is tested, and absolutely nothing goes according to plan.
Meet Mic, Janice, Monika, Bronco, and Sammy—five pharmacy employees held together by caffeine, sarcasm, and the thinnest thread of professionalism. Whether they’re dodging irate customers, surviving corporate chaos, or staging passive-aggressive Post-it note wars, this band of lovable misfits is just trying to make it to closing time without strangling each other.
A sharp-witted satire of customer service culture and workplace dysfunction, Next in Line is for anyone who’s ever worked retail, waited in line too long, or wondered if the pharmacist was secretly judging them (spoiler: they were).
And here’s a review:
“Next in Line by T.W. Baker is a memorable literary novel that cleverly merges heartfelt work-related moments with messy ones. The story transforms a seemingly boring work environment—in this case, a pharmacy—into a vibrant setting where life’s quirky mistrials hilariously unfold.” – Makeda Cummings for Readers Favorite
