Kathy confessed. She loves a certain kind of book-hero. And I can confess with her. I’m a sucker for this one, too!
Plus, I’ve found us some reader-recommendations for these VERY books. 😉
“This was so easy to answer!
I am a sucker for single or widowed Dad romances. I guess I like to see men in stories who are vulnerable and have a soft spot for their children. It is hard for me not to one click if I see that blurb!”
R. : OMG yes Kathy. Single dads. Swoon.
Maryse: I’m into the “pregnant and single”, single mom and single dad stories big time!
R: My favorite’s Unbreakable. I know…shocking! …Cory is actually my #1 book boyfriend because of the single dad thing. Soooooo dreamy!
Kathy: I love stories about single dads and Southern Pleasure was definitely worth the read. You will fall in love with the Dad!
Laura: Ooooo mines are anything with – scarred, single dad or reclusive Hmmm there’s a pattern here I’m sure lol …Oh my god u guys I found us a gem!!! I’m only 39% into this book and I freaking love it!! It’s a grief/love story and it has the hot tattoo artist single dad and she’s his dead wife’s best friend oh it’s soooo good it’s totally us!! I don’t know if anyone has read it but from the other characters in the book I’m sure it will turn into a series and even thought the title of the book says so he’s not totally a bad boy, the writing is so real it could happen really and so could all their conversations oh u have to read it! Maryse I know u like to search for stuff realllllly go search on this I know u will love it – Bringing Home the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon!!!
Linda: For some reason I’m drawn to a storyline where there is a devoted single parent involved. Worth the Fall was amazing as I know you agree. …Maybe a theme with its own category??? … Another I would add to list is the Harmony series by Angela Graham. Another single dad!!! Cranberry Inn is single mom plus throwing in hawt pro hockey player!!! Oh yeah;)))
DG: Started on a tried and true read for me…..Melanie Harlow’s Some Sort of Love. The blurb just got me! Single father who feels like he does not deserve anything beyond what he already has….GAH! Just “fork” it on over! *giggles to self*
Jillian: oh oh oh Abruption!! Beautiful 5+star read! Loved it all! amazing single father and a heroine that was one of the strongest women I’ve ever read, kids were adorable and a twist I wasn’t expecting! Definitely go for this one, couldn’t put it down, read it in one sitting!
D.G. Sweet Dreams by KA…my fav! Love the way Laurie bonds with Jonas and Tate loves her all the more for it!
Maryse: HECK. YES!!!! One of my all-time favorite books, and I ADORED the “children” angle… That’s what I love about K.A. Her characters are often adults that are starting over after divorce with children (the men and the women!!).
Kathy: Maryse, You made my week!! I agree, we should expand to single parents or uncle or aunts who are guardians. Here are a few that I found that I have loved:
- Sway (Landry Family Series Book 1) by Adrian Locke (single Mom)
- Until Lilly: Until Lilly (Until Series Book 3) by Aurora Rose Reynolds (single Mom and Dad)
- An Unplanned Lesson by Beth Rinyu (uncle)
- Wait for It by Mariana Zapata (aunt)
- I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre (single Dad)
- Vandal (Ashes & Embers Book 2)by Carian Cole (you just have to read it!)
- Ryan’s Love (Sawyer Brothers Book 1) by CA Harms
- Zack: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel (Carolina Cold Fury Hockey) by Sawyer Bennett ( Widowed Dad and hockey. Double Bonus!
- Ryker: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel (Carolina Cold Fury Hockey) by Sawyer Bennett (Divorced Dad)
MichelleF: I love this single dad group of book boyfriends! Especially those bad ass alpha types that have that sweet vulnerable side for their kids. I’ve read a few of these on the list, but appreciate the new suggestions. Happy reading!
Leslie M: I too love the “single/stand-in dad” trope or any book with kids. I just finished Wrecking Ball and it was good! I can also recommend The Offer by Karina Halle (hot Scottish H) and Sustained by Emma Chase.
Maryse: I’m going to add a recent super-hit that I enjoyed, ESPECIALLY for the sweet little son that has a foul-mouthed but loving and doting father… Egomaniac by Vi Keeland!!!
And there are so many of ’em to indulge in (all these single SPORTS STAR dads that need a nanny… 😉 ) In fact, I just read one that I loved (my book review of Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico)!!!
Is this your guilty pleasure too?
