Reader Favorites – Cheryl’s Top 15 Reads for 2015

January 15, 2016 By Maryse 21 Comments

YAY!!!! Cheryl’s back with her best of 2015 list!!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ MANY of my favorites are also hers, and I love what she says about the ones I haven’t read yet. Why she loves them, is exactly why I want to read them!

AND!!! You can also get to know her even better (her book preferences and fun tidbits about Cheryl) by checking out her ALL TIME FAVORITE books list here:Β Β Cheryl’s Top Favorite Books List.

Ready?

“Ok, hard to narrow down my 2015- 5 star reads since read about 225 books (which is sadly down from 300+ books read last year)!!! From what I can remember…

In no particular order:”

1.)Β The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1)/The Mistake (Off-Campus Book 2)Β – Elle Kennedy <— “Need another 5 star read after The Deal! *sigh* …Β Β I loved it!”

2.)Β KultiΒ – Mariana Zapata <— “Finished Kulti. Loved it. β€œI flung up my common sense into the air and held my imaginary ovaries out in sacrifice.” *tee-hee*”

3.)Β The Hook Up (Game On Series Book 1)/ The Friend Zone (Game On Series Book 2)Β – Kristen Callihan <— “I would recommend reading The Hook Up prior to reading The Friend Zone. …Just finished The Friend Zone and I liked it more than The Hook Up. There was more angst and more of a slow burn with their friends to lovers relationship…”

4.)Β BeatΒ – Vi Keeland <— “While Throb was good, I liked Beat so much more… I loved Beat!!Β :)”

5.)Β The Manwhore SeriesΒ – Katy Evans <— ”Β It was great!! Slow-burn relationship, bad-boy H, and Angst.Β I loved Manwhore and Manwhore +1 … Also read Ms. Manwhore- pure lighthearted love fest. No angst.”

6.)Β That Baby (That Boy) (Volume 3)Β – Jillian Dodd <— “Stayed up till the early hours finishing That Baby. Had to know how it ended after reading the blurb and the authors warning at the beginning of the book. Funny, sad, frustrating- wtf happened to sweet Lori- wanted to bi&ch slap her; but definitely more angst than the previous 2 books. I honestly did not know how it was going to end-had me crying. Had to steal Manny to cuddle with until I was finished!”

7.)Β Heart-Shaped Hack: Kate and Ian #1Β – Tracey Garvis Graves <— “Finished Heart Shaped Hack. Did not realize there was going to be a book 2. Ugh!! Glad did not end on a CH, but could see where there is more to the story!”

8.)Β Hollywood Dirt/TightΒ – Alessandra Torre <— “I just finished Tight ( I LOVED it) and I don’t know what to read next. Hard to follow that one. …LOVED it!! Such a mind twist of a story.”

9.)Β BadgerΒ – CM McKenna <— “Badger kicked my butt- haven’t cried like that about a book in quite a while. Such an emotional read… going into it, I wondered about that cover and even mentioned to a friend I think it’s significant and means ** and sure enough it did.Β ;)Β Badger- broke my heart, but I loved it and I agree about the ending.”

10.)Β The Mason ListΒ – SD Hendrickson <— “it was a gut-wrenching emotional journey. I just felt wound-up and on edge waiting for whatever it was that happened to happen. I too loved the slow pace,…”

11.)Β Cruel & BeautifulΒ – Terri E. Laine <— “I LOVED it. Well-written,emotional, angsty, sometimes funny read. …I’m still thinking today about Cruel & Beautiful- so beautiful, sad and heartbreaking!!”

12.)Β Brooklyn & BealeΒ – Olivia Evans <— “I’m reading Brooklyn & Beale and I’m really loving it. It reminds me of Thoughtless. The H is a rockstar but he is the one who can’t decide between the h and his current girlfriend. The first book by this author, Hollywood & Vine (which I also loved) is about a movie star and costume designer. Two different stories, but interrelated characters, so should be read in order.”

Yay Cheryl’s turn!! My twin nurse brain! You and I have several books in common!

So out of your top 15, I’ve read 10! The Deal & The Mistake, The Hook Up & The Friend Zone, Beat, The Manwhore Series, Tight, Badger and The Mason List! That’s impressive, I think I have more in common with you than practically anyone else… barring Maryse percentage wise! Makes sense… #Twinning LOL!

However, now I’m more inspired than ever to really sit down and read the rest of your list!! Thank you for sharing!! And happy huggle thanks to Maryse as always for rocking the blog!

Hi Cheryl great list!! And sounding like a broken record here but have read so many on your list and of course the others are just sitting quietly on my tbr list. You have me extremely curious about Hollywood and Vine and Brooklyn and Beale since you recommend reading in order. Hadn’t heard of these little pretties.

Bev, you would love The Manwhore series. As Lisa said it is complete and I really loved the slow-burn, SMEXY times. There was some angst, but not Amy-level!! πŸ˜‰ The last book was more continuation of their story and pure fluff.

Lisa, don’t be a chicken with The Mason List. It is a beautifully written book about second chances and I promise it won’t kill you with the angst.

The That Boy series is 3 books that follow childhood friends up through college and after. I mainly listened to the first two books; I think the narrator’s voice made it that much more funny and enjoyable. Book 3-That Baby threw me for a loop and had me crying like a baby.

I’m sure I found out about Hollywood & Vine from Maryse’s recs and loved it and then waited almost a year for the next book Brooklyn & Beale which I loved too. Great interrelated series!!

Linda, I highly recommend Hollywood & Vine and Brooklyn & Beale. Anders, the H in H & V is an unapologetic, unfiltered manwhore and Josie is a strong, feisty h. This was the author’s first book and the second, B & B is just as good, if not better. Once you read book #1, you’ll want to read 2, just so good!!

II never heard of Cruel & Beautiful or Brooklyn & Beale but they look like something I want to read. And Kulti, I don’t know why I haven’t read that one yet? It is on my TBR list though.

Michelle I am very careful about too much gut wrenching angst but I read Badger and loved it soooo much. It is a tear jerker …..but it is also so skilfully written and beautiful. The heartache is more because it over and you just want more book perfection.

Oooh. Why with the heartbreaking stories? πŸ˜› Those are sad! I love so many on here, like Kulti, The Deal, and Hollywood Dirt. You know you got me with that Brooklyn and Beale. Thoughtless like? Oh boy, those are pure recommendation words!

Wow Cheryl, I’ve read the majority on your list and totally agree with your choices! I loved Beat better than Throb too! So great! I’ve had 7, 10 and 11 downloaded for a while. Don’t know what I’m waiting for, but seeing that your list has a lot of my favs, I’ll definitely be moving them up!
