After almost completing the entire Dark-Hunter series, I have earmarked a paragraph (found in “Dark Side of the Moon”) that was an excellent quick description of what a Dark-Hunter is. While theΒ concept has to beΒ repeated in almost every novel (for newcomers picking up a book in the middle of the series), thisΒ description just struck me as perfect.
Dark-Hunters were created out of men and women who’d suffered unjust tragedy and who wanted revenge on those who’d wronged them. It was the screaming of their souls that summoned Artemis to them, and if they accepted the bargain, Artemis would bring them back to life and give them twenty-four hours to exact their revenge. After that, they become soldiers in her army that was dedicated to protecting mankind from the Daimons. The nature of their creation guaranteed that all of them had at least one major tragedy in their past.
That’s all folks! Just a reference piece for those curious readers who haven’t yet pickedΒ up the seriesΒ π
They also have Dark Hunter Codes (which they distaste most of the time). Here are some examples:
ο§ Be A Part of the World, But Never in It – To reduce the likelihood of being discovered, Dark-Hunters are discouraged from having personal relationships.
ο§ Never Let the Sunshine Touch You – Apollo, Artemis’s brother and god of the sun, will kill Dark-Hunters to spite his sister. Apollites and Daimons are also harmed by the sun.
ο§ No Significant Others – Dark-Hunters have a priority to protect mankind first and significant others can be a distraction. Also, because Dark-Hunters are immortal, any significant lover they might find will die long before they do.
ο§ Let No Daimon Escape Alive. – Since Dark-Hunters were created to kill Daimons, it would be counter productive to let them escape.
ο§ You Cannot Be in the Presence of Another Dark-Hunter – When two or more Dark-Hunters are near each other, they begin to drain each other’s powers. This keeps them from joining up and revolting against Acheron and Artemis. Acheron is the only Dark-Hunter who does not drain the powers of others.
ο§ Whatever You Do to Another Dark-Hunter You Will Feel Tenfold- To keep Dark-Hunters from fighting amongst themselves, they inflict more damage upon themselves if they attack one of their own.
Nice!! Thank you for that list. It’s awesome π
Personally, I suggest if you are new to the dark hunter series. Try to grab βDark Hunter Companionβ with you. Itβs like a DARK HUNTER 101. Your official HANDBOOK for the series. It helped me a lot especially understanding new characters I encounter or other βcreaturesβ and what are their powers. Itβs very useful and will be worth a spot on your collection. ο
