Movie Review – Talk to Me

Talk To Me I’ve been looking for something super-scary, chill-me-to-the-bone to watch, and while I’ve been indulging in horror movie after horror movie, I haven’t quite found the one, yet.

That said, I DID really enjoy this one, recommended by my fellow scary-lover, R. Renee (that I rented on Prime).

R. Renee: I also watched Talk To Me last week and it was fantastic. The Edith Piaf scene was genius! Maryse have you seen it yet?

Maryse: I haven’t seen Talk To Me or even heard of it?? I’m going to look it up right now. 😀 Oh that TOTALLY sounds like my thing. I can’t WAIT!!! Thank you, R!!!

R. Renee: I actually thought the trailer was weak, which is why I didn’t see it in the theater. But the super high Rotten Tomatoes and Audience ratings convinced me, and it’s great. I’m desensitized too, so can’t say if it’s “scary” but I remember jumping. …Talk To Me looked boring based on the trailer, but it’s not at all.

Maryse: Okay I’m watching “Talk to Me” and OMG that opening scene!!!!! And yeah… the reviews look incredible. I haven’t read them yet, but it’s rare a horror movie gets a 4.5 star overall rating. HOLY MOLY!!!

R. Renee: It was a doozy! They certainly aren’t afraid of gore!! Usually when Rotten Tomatoes rates a horror movie high, the audience score is low, but it this case both are high.

Maryse: Oh oh I’m hearing Edith Piaf!! Holy. MOLY!!!! LOL 😂

…and it was worth it!

A great scary story, easy to follow, wow’d me with the freaked-out gory effects (but not TOO gory… it’s more about the fear-factor vs. a gory story), where college-aged kids get together for parties, and pull out this creepy looking hand-thing, and hold it, inviting someone from the other side to “talk to them”, and holy moly, it gets crazy from there. I did have moments of eeeeeeep😱  (worrying about something coming out at me), and if I had watched this one alone at night, I might just have had a nightmare. 😉

Alas, I watched it during the day, bright daylight, with people in the house (in the background), and I was working on a blog post, so… I wasn’t scared enough (but others watching it might definitely be) but it was gooooooood stuff!!!! Right up my alley (I love watching supernatural “other side” stuff like ouija boards, or seances, or scary videos that if you watch it, you’re now haunted by… you know what I’m getting at), and this was exactly what I was looking for.

And the ending did give me chills. I may just watch this one again, properly.

4 STARS!! Maybe 4.5 stars if I watch it again, at night, and watch it intensely. 😉
