<— I. CAN’T. WAIT!!!! Oooooh what an intriguing, eerie cover. YES PLEASE! You know I’ll be devouring Without Merit, especially with this tumultuous-sounding blurb!

…a young woman decides to reveal the dark secrets of her seemingly happy family before she leaves them behind, but when her escape plan fails, she must deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth.

Eeeeeep! But, for now, I’m in full-on power-reading mode (I’m chipping away at a darn good book, at least so far called The Fireman: A Novel), but I’m taking a quick break to bring you some book-world news! P.S. The “chipping away” of my book is ’cause,

Maryse: I’m trying to power read the Fireman today so I can have review and start a new book… but I just realized. I’m only at 40% because… it’s 771 pages!!! Oh. confused emoticon LOL!!!!!! Thank goodness our buddy read (for this one: The Unrequited) is only mid-week. P.S. The Fireman is good. Not at all scary (at least not to me… but then again… I’m only at 40%). *snort* :P

Lee: I love the “Oh” … that happened to me a few days ago.. I read and read and went “OMG! I am not moving then realized it had 590 pages” LMAOOOOOO

Sue: The longer the better!!!

And now… THE NEWS!

First!!! PRIME DAY is this Tuesday, and that is the day that I lose my mind, finding (and buying) some serious sales. Over the last two years, I’ve purchased so many awesome things for my house, and for my cooking love, and of course… BOOKS, and can’t believe how lucky I am to have gotten them at such a discount. So not only will Tuesday be another awesome new book release day, but PRIME DAY squee-worthy goodies will be added as I find ‘em. :)

John Green has a new book releasing in October called Turtles All the Way Down, and and was featured here on EW. Here’s a snippet of the article ➔ ”Turtles All the Way Down is the story of 16-year-old Aza Holmes, a young woman who grapples with mental illness while investigating the disappearance of a fugitive billionaire”. And also a snippet of the interview where the author says:

“I’ve been working on Turtles All the Way Down for years, and I’m so excited to share it with readers this October,” Green said in a statement. “This is my first attempt to write directly about the kind of mental illness that has affected my life since childhood, so while the story is fictional, it is also quite personal.”

Kristen Ashley‘s “The Time in Between (The Magdalene Series Book 3)” (series finale!!!) is up for pre-order and has it’s gorgeous cover up!!! Second chance romance and it sounds so heartwarmingly angsty!!! Here’s just a snippet of the blurb (whole blurb on Amazon):

“…Coert Yeager has learned to live without the girl who entered his life right when she shouldn’t and exited delivering a crippling blow he never would have suspected. The time in between was full of failing to find what he was missing…and life-altering betrayal.

But when that girl shows up in Magdalene and buys the town’s beloved lighthouse, even if Coert wants to avoid her, he can’t…”

Madeline Sheehan will be re-releasing paperbacks with the original covers of the Undeniable series for us hard-core “original cover” collectors. She says:

“I’ve just seen paperbacks with the old Undeniable covers for sale at ridiculously high prices.

I’m so bothered by this–that there are people out there trying to capitalize on the fact that others still want these covers–that I’ve decided to pick a date to put all the old covers back up for sale (at regular prices) for a TBD period of time.

If you’re looking for old covers, stay tuned for more info.”

Alessandra Torre has posted the movie trailer for her upcoming book-to-film sensation, “Hollywood Dirt“. Check it out here!

Colleen Hoover is having a HUGE book signing!!! And it was featured in the Huffington Post (the article written by author Mara White)! Here’s just a snippet:

“Book Bonanza is the name of the extravaganza created by Colleen Hoover, her charity The Bookworm Box, and Indie Solutions that will descend on Denver, Colorado the weekend of July 20th 2018. All proceeds from the impressive event will be donated to SafeHouse Denver, an organization that provides emergency shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims of domestic violence and their children.”

J.A. Redmerski <— BLAST FROM THE PAST OMG!!!! She’s releasing a new post-apocalyptic book called “Everything Under the Sun” (but releasing it under the name “Jessica Redmerski”) It’s not up for preorder yet, but the cover and blurb are ready. WHAT A GORGEOUS COVER!! She posted the cover and blurb here and blogs about it here.

Karen Marie Moning FANS!!! Did you guys know the next Fever book is up for preorder? High Voltage: A Fever Novel is next!

Jennifer: Can’t wait!!! I need my Dublin fix lol. My friends have been in Ireland the past week and posting pictures. Made me want me to read the whole series….. again

E.K. Blair has TWO new books coming out!!! I don’t think there’s a preorder yet but I’ve got SOME info. ✦✦✦ The CRAVE Duet ✦✦✦ (New Adult Romance) Part 1: August 14 Part 2: October 16 (slight tease here)

Mia Asher has a new upcoming book releasing, too! Arrogant Stranger <— “Breaking rules has never felt so good …” No preorder or cover or blurb yet, but it’s up on Goodreads, and of course I shall keep my eye out for that one! :D !!!!

Riley Hart has a new M/M book releasing in just a few days called “Depth of Field”!! I’ve loved some of her past books!!! She’s totally my kind of romance writer. She reveals the cover, the blurb and says:

“This is also one of my favorite books I’ve ever written”

Katherine Allred has a mini update on the re-release of “The Sweet Gum Tree“. She says:

“Thought i’d share the Slovenia cover for The Sweet Gum Tree. They did a great job. I’m hoping to have my version out next week.”

and goes on to comment:

“…I really wish I could use it on the US version. That’s how much I love it.”

Back in May, she described the cover for us:

“It’s almost done, ya’ll. I just saw the first draft of the new Sweet Gum Tree cover. It’s a single tree. On the bottom the cover is black. Behind the trunk is a golden sunset. Behind and above the leaves is a deep blue sky. It’s really gorgeous. Can’t wait until I can show it to you.”

Guest Post! How-to Get Your Book Ready for the Editor by Tamara Beard <— Check out a new guest post right here on the blog!! GREAT info for those of you that are writing a book, or have written it and want to go to the next step. EDITING!!! A MUST!!!

Shawn:  Thanks for posting this!!!

Rosheen: Great advice. As an avid reader (very poor writer) reading an author’s creative work without it being honestly alpha read and properly edited can throw me out of a story. In particular continuity and time lines, character traits and written chapters all matching once you are engaged in a story.

R: Love this. Thanks so much for posting, Maryse. I actually have a couple amazing alpha readers I didn’t even know were alpha readers! I just call them my gluttons who must really, really love me.

bev: Maryse, not a rmwriter but the editing post was interesting. I know some of the ladies on here are beta readers but are some of you alpha readers too?

Fabi: Maryse, I agree with bev. That editing post and the information on her website is interesting. She seems like a sweet and talented young lady. bev, I’ve done a little alpha reading. Creative people amaze me. I love to watch their work in progress.

bev: Fabi it seems like it would be hard. To assess the book as a reader with all the opinions that come with that vs the writers vision. Plus what another reader would think…their opinion and taste.

LATEST PRE-ORDERS (just added to the main BIG NEW RELEASE list):

  • The Unrequitedby Saffron A. Kent – July 13th 2017 <— OUR NEXT BUDDY-READ ALERT!! My friend Grey went CRAZY for this book, and a few of us have decided to buddy-read it!! Plus the preorder is super-bargain priced! I can’t WAIT!!! MINE MINE MINE!!!!!

Grey: “Maryse, it’s awesome! I 5 starred it… it was fantastic…I can’t even tell you what it compares to… i want to compare it something… kind of arsen meets slammed… to the extreme… but not… it’s different, you can’t really use that comparison, but it’s on a level all it’s own.”

A new John Green?!?! What an awesome surprise! Also, just watched the trailer for Hollywood Dirt last night, looks good! It’ll be so exciting to see what other books they decide to make into movies too.

bev July 9, 2017 at 1:36 PM

Mm. I think my sentence about not being a writer shows why, lol.

Maryse does it say how many hours you have left? I’m not sure if that is a good invention or not.

Sharon July 9, 2017 at 2:24 PM

I can’t wait to see Hollywood Dirt!
I pre-ordered The Unrequeited and am in for the Buddy read!
I was going to read Riven but decided to try to pick The Opposite of You back up. I couldn’t get into it before, but maybe I can sink in if the sun is shining.
I’m going to need lots of distractions for the next 33 months – next month I’m sending my only son off to college 10 hours away and am going to be a mess. It’s a trade school, so he won’t get breaks like other schools.

Maryse July 9, 2017 at 3:01 PM

Oh wow Sharon!!!! What a wonderful thing for him, and yet, both of you will be “homesick” for each other I’m sure.

We’ll keep you occupied. ;)

bev July 9, 2017 at 3:58 PM

Will it be an empty nest Sharon?

That is hard…..or time to run off with that dangerous biker, billionaire filled with man pain, cute single dad next door, or the college age under ground fighter who calls you pigeon.
But when he gives you a dog give it a cookie.

Sharon July 9, 2017 at 8:28 PM

Bev – it will be an empty nest!

I did a 180 and started a Sean Michael.

Cheryl July 9, 2017 at 10:11 PM

Can’t wait for the buddy read, although I don’t think it will be “fun” as Amy says. Sure she and her “book twin” will be cackling with angsty glee, but I’ll be snuggling manny! Also, I doubt I’ll be reading it fast, because between taking care of my daughter and painting the kitchen cabinets I have limited reading time. :)

Also, will be reading The Darkest Sunrise, but not until book two is released.

Cheryl July 9, 2017 at 10:17 PM

Sharon I can relate, my son just finished his freshman year of college. I would equate the feeling to one of grief, because they are gone from your everyday life and it’s quite the adjustment. Hang in there, it does get better.

Amy July 9, 2017 at 11:53 PM

“billionaire filled with man pain”

Man pain?? *cackles like a loon* THAT is a good one…

I LOVE the cover for Without Merit. It just looks so…ominous. It’s been a while since we’ve had a good dose of CH’s exquisite a$$ kicking (It Ends With Us, anyone?) so we are definitely due for some of that.

Everything Under the Sun, Arrogant Stranger, Sweet Gum Tree news…oh happy day for us! :D

Amy July 9, 2017 at 11:55 PM

Aw come on, Cheryl…it’s going to be fun! We’re here for ya…ALWAYS! *huggles Cheryl*

Sharon and Cheryl…oh, mamas. That has to be tough. :( Much love to both of you!

I’m pre-ordering the new KA cos I liked the other ones in that series. Sweet. I agree the new Colleen Hoover has a great cover. I haven’t read the last 2 KMMs so I don’t think I’ll jump into the new one till I’ve caught up. Unrequited is getting lots of hype. It sounds a bit too forbiddeny for me, but maybe???? I might try the sample when it’s out, to help me decide. Oh, and the new Aly Martinez? You lost me at She loses her child- he’s gone. Um no. I don’t think my heart could take that one. The new John Green? I like the title, but I’m gonna wait on that one. We’ll see.

*draws breath and smiles*

MichelleS July 10, 2017 at 10:48 AM

Wait wait wait… KMM New Fever book coming soon…. ? I swear, you know who better be okay in this one or I am OUT of the game! And you know who better be back to her old self. What the heck is happening to this world?

Jean July 10, 2017 at 1:14 PM

Everything Under the Sun looks really good to me and i could use a change in genre!
