HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! :D Time for a full weekend of indulging myself in a book, and I’m still trying to decide on what’s next for me. I have that forbidden-love trilogy that I want to finish now that it’s complete (Something in the Way), but I have two psych-thrillers that are calling my name too. Plus, “Cuffed” down there is tempting me big time, and I can’t get it out of my head. And then “Forever Right Now” by one of my favorite authors has made many in our book-crew crazy in love with it, so how can I possibly resist starting it, next?

And then… well, we found all of these, below. ;) What to choose…. what. to. choose?

  • Forever Right Now by Emma Scott <— EMMA SCOTT’S LATEST & OUR BOOK CREW IS LOVING IT!! *squeeeeeeeee!!!!!*

R: Forever Right Now is a must read. If it weren’t for my RUSH bias I’d say hands down it’s my favorite.

Leslie M: Forever Right Now was so good. :) It gave me the same “feels” as Ghosted although a completely different story. Books like this are why I read!! *basks in the happy after glow of a great romance* …This is my happy place. No boring starts, no not getting what is going on, immediate connection to story…pure CR bliss.

D.G.: Started Forever Right Now last night!!! *happy dances around room*. And I am LOVING it!!! Surprise, surprise…it is Emma Scott! So surprise, no surprise. A little over 57% in and I have that dreaded feel in my belly…

Grey: *Shoves Manny, Godiva and Moscato and makes up a blankie fort for D.G.* here you go!!

D.G.: *grabs Manny, Godiva and Moscato from Grey mumbling thank you and climbs in blankie fort*

Jan: I’m halfway through but taking a break cos I’m nervous about the coming angst. Yes, I’m worried about Darlene and about Sawyer too. *bites fingernail anxiously*

D.G.: *cleans up Godiva wrappers and empty Moscato bottle then folds blankets and sets Manny on top*. Abso-freaking-lutely LOVED Forever Right Now! I worried over Darlene…I worried over Sawyer…I also feel in love with Olivia! This book was awesome!

  • Trust Me (One Night with Sole Regret Book 11) by Olivia Cunning <— LIVE!!! OLIVIA CUNNING ROCK STAR ALERT!! And usually her books are SUPER-HOT *waggles eyebrows* ;)

Grey: …that author is bank… and the smut *fans self* mmmhmmm… But music and rockstars… those books had it all!

Jean: I admit that while I normally skip some of the boring sex scenes in books, these scenes are NOT boring…..so no skipping for me! Olivia Cunning sure knows how to write it good! Lol!

Mari: Cuffed, I really liked that book, it was a little deeper than most and I think that is what I thought was better about it.

Maryse: Mari!! I want to read Cuffed SO badly… and now even more since you said it was deeper… YES!!!!! :D

Leslie M: THAT COVER!!!!

  • Go to Hail (The Hail Raisers Book 2) by Lani Lynn Vale <— LIVE!!! LANI LYNN VALE’S LATEST! • #1 Player by T Gephart <— LIVE!!! Despite his laid-back persona, he was a guy who could get stuff done. And women lined up to be done by Ryan. He did not have a problem with that. Not. At. All. Except his magical panty dropping powers didn’t seem to extend to the lovely Lila…
  • Psycho Romeo (Ward Security Book 1) by Jocelynn Drake & Rinda Elliott <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT!! “...He loves the club scene, hanging with his friends, and flirting with whomever catches his eye. Definitely not the kind of guy she should be dating, but he’s the perfect guy for a crazy fun fling before her life changes. When Pru proposes a brief, no strings affair, Flynn’s not about to say no. But when unexpected complications endanger the adoption, the two find themselves in a phony engagement...”

Good morning! Happy, happy Friday!!!!

Tessa October 27, 2017 at 6:34 AM

Good morning. Allergies again, so I woke up early *grr*. I forgot to take Benadryl last night, so I’m paying for it now.

Dark Promises looks good, and if you look, the author included the other two books the “villain” is in so you can get to know him better. :)

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 6:38 AM

Happy Friday everyone! :)

I am desperately trying to resist the lure of new shinies and read my older books (to complete my TBR challenge).

I finished F*ck Love yesterday and I really liked it, 4****. Its not my usual type thing but something about Helena pulled me in and I enjoyed her “voice”. What I didnt get was Muslim character…he was freaky.

Lisa Aiello October 27, 2017 at 6:43 AM

Good morning – I caved this morning and bought one of them disgusting Starbucks Zombie Frappucino’s…and yeah, disgusting!!! But it does have pretty bright pink whipped topping!! On a happy note, so many pretty new choices up there! Have a wonderful Friday!

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 6:49 AM

Lisa, thanks for taking one for the team! It does look cool but sounds kinda yucky.

Hey, whats up with the cover for Miss Fix-it? It looks like it should be cover of Playboy…but the story sounds really good. Love those single dads!

Tessa October 27, 2017 at 6:59 AM

Oh and I finished The Mason List last night and yeah, I loved it. The only wish I have is I wish she had put the present day stuff towards the end. It really did jar me every time it came up.

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 7:04 AM

Tessa, I have that on my TBR but have been afraid to read it. Think its too sad for me?

Tessa October 27, 2017 at 7:56 AM

Leslie, I sent you a message on GR. :)

bev October 27, 2017 at 8:48 AM

Haven’t read all of them but #9 is Maryse and Amy When we start talking about a book they haven’t read.
And 11 is why R doesn’t sleep.
5 is Leslie’s salad.

bev October 27, 2017 at 8:51 AM

13 and 6 made me snort and could be any cr.

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 9:10 AM

Those are hilarious and true.

Nobody should mess with my Twilight/Thoughtless salad!!!

Ela October 27, 2017 at 9:15 AM

TGIF EVERYONE! SO I’m still reading Unloved because well I’m hooked on some stupid FB game and it’s all about Halloween!

R. Renee October 27, 2017 at 9:16 AM

*pours Drive Dressing all over Leslie’s Thoughtless Salad*

OMG bev. Those are all so true!

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 9:21 AM

But, I literally spit out my cereal I am laughing so hard.

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 9:23 AM

Pleh! *coughs in disgust*

I don’t like the flavor of Drive salad dressing.

R. Renee October 27, 2017 at 9:26 AM

It tastes like angst flavored tears sprinkled with regret.

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 9:48 AM

I want swoony romance but nothing too heavy. I need a break from crying but I don’t want OTT silly comedy either.

R. Renee October 27, 2017 at 9:53 AM

Leslie have you read Wild Abandon or Wrecked by Jeannine Colette? I think one of those may fit the bill!

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 10:13 AM

R, I haven’t read those. I did read Pure Abandon and I didnt love it. Its been too long now to remember why. I shied away from Wild abandon or Wrecked because I thought they were part of that series. However, I don’t like to judge an author’s work by just one story. If you think I might like one of those, I think I might give it a try. I’m going to go read some blurbs and reviews and see what I think.

Maryse October 27, 2017 at 10:14 AM

I read Wrecked!! I reviewed it in RT Magazine a couple of weeks ago. :)

Maryse October 27, 2017 at 10:14 AM

reads Leslie’s comments…

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 10:14 AM

Could I say “think” one more time???

Ela October 27, 2017 at 10:15 AM

Or you can read Unloved????

Pours Drive dressing from Robin on Leslie’s head…..*runs*

Maryse October 27, 2017 at 10:15 AM

P.S. Good morning everybody!!!! My coffee this morning was better than usual (my own… with the mocha peppermint creamer). I dunno what I did today but it was magical-flavored. :P

R. Renee October 27, 2017 at 10:16 AM

They are all standalones Leslie. WA has a totally different feel than PA. I think you’ll love it. It’s swoony and there’s a cute kid! (not the MC’s). Wrecked has a feisty h and a swoony complicated cop H.

Ela October 27, 2017 at 10:17 AM

I read Pure Abandon and liked it but didn’t go crazy over it like I did over Arsen….

R. Renee October 27, 2017 at 10:23 AM

I need mocha peppermint creamer! Suanne mentioned on FB she uses Hershey’s syrup and half n half in hers so I had to try that. Yumm! Except why use HnH when you can use whipped cream?

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 10:29 AM

I use Hershey’s dark chocolate cocoa powder on my coffee. Delish!!!

Unloved is too heavy for my current mood.

I think Pure Abandon was a little slow-burn for me. (hard to remember)

Wrecked sounds great. I will try it and will consider Wild Abandon too if diff feel from Pure Abandon.

Oooh, I have pumpkin spice whipped cream. That would be delicious in coffee.

Tessa October 27, 2017 at 10:48 AM

Leslie, When It’s Real by Erin Watts was light and fun, with some super swoony moments. :)

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 11:02 AM

Nice Tessa! I can get that one on Hoopla too. Thanks.

Grey October 27, 2017 at 11:15 AM

bev October 27, 2017 at 2:02 PM

Leslie I hesitate cause pretty sure we are complete opposites. Have you tried Nora Roberts?

Amy October 27, 2017 at 2:07 PM

*guzzles Drive dressing*

Yep, I did. :P

I don’t remember much about Pure Abandon other than I made comments which had some of the ladies here gasping in horror. *cringes*

Amy October 27, 2017 at 2:13 PM

Oh bev…you nailed it with calling #9. Spoilers DEFINITELY drive me to behave that way!

I think my challenge with Pure Abandon was that Arsen ruined me for all other similar books. I think it’s been long enough since I read Arsen though that I can give other books a fair shot. ;)

Gina October 27, 2017 at 4:33 PM

Check out AJ Adams new book Dark Hunter, a part of her Zeta series but a stand-alone. I really like this author.

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 4:54 PM

Bev, I only read one Nora Roberts, Sea Swept. I didnt care for that one but she has sooooo many. I wouldn’t know where to start. Do you have a fave?

Nay October 27, 2017 at 5:27 PM

So I started my ARC of A Charm of Finches and I’m LOVING it, but then I got my very first smartphone in the mail this morning and I’ve been messing with it alllll day! NO MORE DINOPHONE!!!! Yay me!!!! But it’s messing with my precious reading time!

Grey October 27, 2017 at 5:37 PM

Arsen…. Oh God, I still get pretzel tummy when I hear that title.

Grey October 27, 2017 at 5:39 PM

Amazon messed with my little widget. I’m angry. I liked my old little app pic… I don’t like change. *drags sad butt into the blankie fort*

Cheryl October 27, 2017 at 6:53 PM

Leslie, I’m reading Cuffed and it’s a combination of some funny moments with some very serious one’s. Think you might like it.

I like adding caramel and half and half to my coffee.

Maryse, sorry I made you faint from my not 5-star loving Until It Fades. Maybe if I didn’t pay so much for it and hadn’t read it after Drive, I would have liked it better?! ;)

Cheryl October 27, 2017 at 7:01 PM

Oh and I bought a Zombie frappucino for my daughter. She said it basically was a vanilla milkshake. The whipped cream kinda looked like brains.

Maryse October 27, 2017 at 7:03 PM

Cheryl… I admit it was costly. ;)

Leslie M October 27, 2017 at 7:56 PM

Gray, I am crabby about Kindle widget too. Grrrrr

I am looking forward to Cuffed. Will most likley read in November.

I wanted an audio, so I found this one on Hoopla – Tempt the Boss by Natasha Madison. Only few chapters in, but I like it so far. Grumpy H who is boss at her new job.

bev October 27, 2017 at 7:58 PM

She has a very distinct style, so if that didn’t work the others probably wouldn’t either.
And you didn’t like Act Like It which I loved, lol.

bev October 27, 2017 at 8:03 PM

Tasha #3!

Jean October 27, 2017 at 9:28 PM

Hi guys! I’m 30% into Forever Right Now and really liking it. Definitely see the potential angst coming…..

Bev, I love that list!

Amazon changed my widget too!

Cheryl October 28, 2017 at 12:13 PM

Actually my daughter said the zombie frappucino was a weird apple flavored vanilla milkshake. Not horrible, just weird.

Kooloo October 28, 2017 at 1:29 PM

Kooloo October 28, 2017 at 1:31 PM

Maryse I just finished Book 3 (American King) of Sierra Simone’s New Camelot Trilogy. I had to do a re-read of the first 2 books as I didn’t remember all the juicy scandals and the “holy shit no way’s” and “oh no she didn’t” and WTFs and soooooo glad I did!

The sexy times in this series are SCORCHING! MAN that woman can write! I mean some of those recollection scenes flowed like poetry – you could really feel the lust, fears and vulnerability of the strong, well-defined characters and that gets me every time!

The Trilogy combines both Past & Present, Power & Humility and Love & Sacrifice. It’s a story that should not be missed!

bev October 28, 2017 at 1:50 PM

So when should we do our
Halloween proper or start before?

Amy October 28, 2017 at 2:32 PM

How about on Monday, All Hallows’ Eve eve?

Kooloo October 28, 2017 at 3:09 PM

Which BR the cowboys or the slasher?!? Or is cowboy the slasher?

Kooloo October 28, 2017 at 3:12 PM

As long as it doesn’t have anything to do with “GOATS” I’m in…. though ELAbell does have a thing for them

Leslie M October 28, 2017 at 3:27 PM

I have a thing for Goat books!!! Hee hee ;)

Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward

Leslie M October 28, 2017 at 3:27 PM

NOT to be confused with GoT, Kooloo.

bev October 28, 2017 at 3:31 PM

Sounds good, Amy.

It’s the slasher one. :)

Leslie M October 28, 2017 at 3:41 PM

I can’t wait to read the Camelot trilogy. I put book #1 on the “pick for me” challenge list.

Kooloo October 28, 2017 at 4:07 PM

Oooooohhhhh the slasher one – yup that’s a goodie fo sho

Tessa October 28, 2017 at 5:27 PM

Leslie, is that a request? Lol We’ll try to pass that along.

Cheryl October 29, 2017 at 9:53 AM

Rainy day here- great for reading. Started Forever Right Now. Just read part with Beckett and Zelda from the Butterfly Project. *sigh* Hope I can put it down because we’re meeting my son, who turned 20 today, for birthday dinner in Philly!!! Also, hope I don’t show up with blood-shot eyes because I’ve been crying my eyes out.

Leslie M October 29, 2017 at 10:14 AM

Rainy day here too! :(

Cheryl, for some reason, Ghosted & Forever Right Now sucked me in and made me cry all over the place. Those characters were so real and gave me all the feels. I don’t remember having that strong of a reaction since I read It Ends With Us.

D.G. October 29, 2017 at 10:14 AM

Tessa! Dark Promises! Yes, you have to read it! Trust me…I am totally hooked on this book. I absolutely LOVE this villain…yep LOVE! Doesn’t villain = bully??? Kinda??? Anyway, Kiev and Rowan are the bomb…two agendas…hidden from each other! Yep, just awesome!

Tessa October 29, 2017 at 11:03 AM

Even though it’s a KU, I just went and bought it. I have 10 highly anticipated KU right now that I don’t want to get rid of, and it’s only 99 cents. :D I’ll start it soon, promise. That one looks intriguing. Should I read the other two first since it came with the book?

D.G. October 29, 2017 at 11:46 AM

No, I didn’t even realize that there were two previous…i just started reading it this morning. It has hooked me in. I will probably go back and read the fist two later.

D.G. October 29, 2017 at 11:49 AM

Love this line…’Alright. Fine. But if I find her collecting strands of my hair or gets my name tattooed on her ass, I’m walking.’ Dark Promises

Kooloo October 29, 2017 at 11:51 AM

So I just finished a 5 Star read entitled CUFFED by K Bromberg and struggled with my rating until I found out it is based on real life events that involved the author – there are of course triggers which made even more relent knowing it actually happened. But it also made me lol and swoon… loved it xoxo

D.G. October 29, 2017 at 12:15 PM

Kooloo I love K. Bromberg’ s books! I’ll have to add that one to my TBR.

Maryse October 29, 2017 at 12:17 PM

Hi guys!!! It’s 59 degrees here in FL and I am SOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!! Sunny and blue sky but chilly and crisp, just like I love it.

And now I’m making pot roast in the crockpot, and doing book-stuff. Best Sunday ever!!!! :D

Kooloo October 29, 2017 at 12:28 PM

*relevant* not relent lol DUCKING Autocorrect

Maryse I’m so jealous it’s freaking freezing here!

Maryse October 29, 2017 at 12:35 PM

*snuggles Kooloo* I don’t know that I’m all that warm, but I’m trying. :) *snort*

Kooloo October 29, 2017 at 12:44 PM

I just hope it doesn’t snow on Halloween – those poor kiddos having to put their costume over snowsuits! That would SUCK

bev October 29, 2017 at 12:53 PM

I love pot roast. And book stuff.

Amy October 29, 2017 at 1:25 PM

Mmmmm…pot roast on a chilly day.

Plus book stuff.

Everyone meet up at Maryse’s!!

bev October 29, 2017 at 1:44 PM
Maryse October 29, 2017 at 3:22 PM

YES COME OVER!!! I also have Peppermint Bark vodka and it tastes like pepperminty-chocalatey yumminess liquid candy. I kind of suspect my morning peppermint mocha coffee creamer is a version of this. Without the alcohol of course. ;)

Tessa October 29, 2017 at 3:36 PM

I want the vodka… That sounds YUMMY! There’s no sugar in vodka, right? Right?

Bev, that’s adorable. Talk about a great way to know what dog fits you and your family best. :) I’d need a Hufflepuff puppy. A nice, friendly puppy.

Alright, I’m happy today because it’s going to only be 71 degrees! *throws glitter* GOODBYE EXCESSIVE HEAT! No more 80 somethings! YEAH!

R. Renee October 29, 2017 at 3:41 PM

I got up at the crack of dawn to watch the Browns game on the patio and it was FREEZING! We had t start a fire. Now it’s in the 70s and I’m burning up!

Maryse October 29, 2017 at 3:47 PM

I would like to make an announcement.

I pronounce myself the BEST COOK IN THE WORLD!!!!

Sure… sure… I followed a recipe online, and sure… sure, my slow cooker did all the work, but my pot roast just made my eyes roll back in my head… I ate TOO MUCH of it, and I feel soooooooooo happy.

Yep. I am the BEST COOK IN THE WORLD!!!!! :D !!!! *snort*

Amy October 29, 2017 at 3:52 PM

Alright, share the recipe so WE TOO CAN BE THE BEST COOKS IN THE WORLD!

Seriously…post the link. ;)

Tessa October 29, 2017 at 3:58 PM

*pats Robin’s back* At least at this rate, the Browns will have a first draft pick next year. Just start rooting for them to suck all year so you get better players. I’m doing that for the Niners. :)

R. Renee October 29, 2017 at 4:01 PM

They ALWAYS have first draft pick.

R. Renee October 29, 2017 at 4:21 PM

OMG Maryse. I just saved the recipe. Sooooo making that next weekend!

Maryse October 29, 2017 at 4:31 PM

Okay so this is a mix of about 5 different recipes (’cause I don’t use butter, and I DO use the whole jar of pepperoncinis). Some recipes say only half, some recipes say the whole jar – I’m an “all in” type. ;)

But here’s how I make it:
Okay a 2-3 lb chuck roast
2 or 3 large carrots peeled and cut into chunks
5 or 6 red potatoes (small-medium – whole I don’t cut them)
2 stalks of celery
a whole thingie of fresh sliced mushrooms
a half cup of beef stock (or you can use an au jus packet)
a packet of ranch dressing powder
a whole jar of pepperoncini (juice and all) – trust me. Even the Pioneer woman says throw it all in. It cuts the gaminess of the meat, and the meat cuts the acidity of the whole jar. It just… evens out.

Official recipes use a whole stick of butter (I don’t, but I bet it’s awesome – I find the meat fatty enough as it is)

Throw the WHOLE lot into the crock pot (I put the veggies on the bottom and rest the meat on top of it all and then the mushrooms and the pepperoncinis on top, and sprinkle the ranch dressing all over it)

6-8 hours on low (I tend to find it ready at 6.5 to 7 hrs)

Here are a few official recipes:

(just Google SLOW COOKER MISSISSIPPI POT ROAST and you’ll see all sorts of variations but pretty much all the same thing). :D

Pepperoncinni….ok. well if mild, I really like them.
But the ranch though…..
It kind of grosses me out how people put it on everything. Yes, even though I like it.

Okay, I’m making that this week. Probably…Tuesday. I have a long shift that day. :? And I will try it with the ranch because I’ll try anything once to see if I’ll like it! And yesssssss, a WHOLE jar of pepperoncinis because YUM!! Love ‘em. In sandwiches (especially toasted roast beef melts *drooooool*), salads, dishes, whatever.

But I’m with bev that ranch doesn’t always work…I made a butter ranch pork chop slow cooker dish the other evening for supper using ranch dressing packets and…

My go-to marinade for chicken breasts uses ranch dressing packets. Two packets, 4 TBS oil, 2 TBS red wine vinegar for 4 breasts. Yumm and easy.

Oh R…those poor Browns. 0-8 now, right? They need a break…

R. Renee October 29, 2017 at 5:32 PM

THEY need a new owner. I need a break! And are we counting last year too?? :’-(

bev October 29, 2017 at 5:47 PM

I honestly can’t even picture the Browns, you may be the first fan I’ve met.

R. Renee October 29, 2017 at 5:49 PM

I’m a all around glutton. In books and in sports…

Leslie M October 29, 2017 at 5:58 PM

That first link Maryse posted they used Good Seasons Italian packet. I would sub that in place of ranch. (Hubs hates ranch)

bev October 29, 2017 at 5:58 PM

Lol. I really do not follow sports and my family that did were Raider fans all the way.
So, I know there are a lot of teams I’m not that familiar with. Unless they are on tv or in pop culture alot…..Da Bears.

Grey October 29, 2017 at 5:59 PM

I can’t even picture pepperoncinis? LOL But the pot roast sounds YUM! I made a delish one a couple weeks ago too. This was with 2 T of Lawry’s garlic salt, 2 packets of dried onion soup mix, a can of mushrooms and a 20 ounce bottle of cherry coke. I know, sounds weird, right? it was SOOO good though. Then serve over either smashed potatoes or egg noodles. nom nom nom.

Let’s talk food, omg, I need dinner ideas, my husband is crying foul, telling me I never cook, so I have to cook all week. (he may actually be onto something… LOL! HELP!)

Anyway, just finished another proof, now moving onto beta land. need to finish this one by Wednesday, then I’m hanging up the ARC’s and betas for a while and just reading for me. I’m *not* doing nanowrimo this year. I’ve done it for the past few years, but I do NOT have the time for it this year. Please do not let me talk myself into it in the eleventh hour, I’ve been known to do that.

I just realized that most of my NFL reference point come from the 80s. Like I can remember Boomer Esiason and the guy that’d do the dance. The refrigerator and of course Bo Jackson. Do you remember the cartoon?

bev October 29, 2017 at 6:11 PM

This was on one day and it is really really good.

I’m very resistant to learning Football. In spite of myself, I know it. I grew up in a very sport-centric house. I always liked playing but HATED watching. Being a girl also meant no football camp things. I’m not complaining though because I had SO MANY OTHER lessons instead. :) That said, I’m in Santa Clara, so of course I know how badly the Niners are doing. They are tied with the Browns.

Leslie M October 29, 2017 at 6:51 PM

I am NOT a sports fan! Which is sacrilege out here as Boston fans are very passionate. I think my issue is hubs lives, breathes and sleeps football and is season ticket holder. *gags* My house has football memorabilia all over it and an entire room dedicated to the Pats. *double gag*

R. Renee October 29, 2017 at 6:56 PM

I used to hate it but my dad loved it. When he’d drive me to and from college it would be on the radio and he’d explain it to me. It took years before I’d actually like it, but now I do. I love it, actually. I wish I could watch it with him.

bev October 29, 2017 at 7:12 PM

Oh, those moments R. Like finally appreciating a record my mom loved. Or watching a show that I know she would enjoy or reading a book…..

bev October 29, 2017 at 7:13 PM

Leslie they are going to take away your cheerleading card with that talk. Or Boston is going to tar and feather you…..

Leslie M October 29, 2017 at 8:37 PM

Luckily I am incognito on here!

Cheryl October 29, 2017 at 10:22 PM

OMG so funny. Reading Forever Right Now and Sawyer’s friend Jackson is an attorney at Nelson and Murdoch. That’s the name of the law firm Foggy Nelson and Matt Murdock started in the Marvel series Daredevil!! ;)
