HAPPY FRIDAY & HAPPY READING WEEKEND!! There’s a bit of a Vegas theme going on, on today’s Friday List.

I still haven’t chosen my weekend read (have you?), but since I’ve been on a great romance streak lately, I think I’m going to switch it up for the weekend. Maybe that psych-thriller down below. Or maybe Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King since that’s all the rage right now with the new TV series. Or maybe Steadfast by Sarina Bowen (also down below).

My heart needs something gritty but sweet, and that sounds like exactly it. ;) Hmmm… decisions, decisions.

Take a look at what we found for the weekend!! :D

  • I Do(n’t) by Leddy Harper <— LIVE!!! HER BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND IN VEGAS ALERT!!! This sounds hilariously awesome! She’s always had a crush on her brother’s best friend since childhood… and then OH OH. “…However, one night in Vegas changed everything. I woke up to more than just a fantasy of my brother’s best friend. Five years later, I’m standing on his doorstep confronting him about the secret he kept from me...”
  • Absinthe by Winter Renshaw <— LIVE!! THEY’D HAVE STEAMY LATE NIGHT CHATS. And then…. ooooh sounds forbiddeny because… “We’d never met. Until the day she walked into my office, her cherry lips wrapped around a candy apple sucker and an all too familiar voice that said, “You wanted to see me, Principal Hawthorne?”
  • The Only One (Sweetbriar Cove Book 3) by Melody Grace <— LIVE!!!
  • Make Me Forget (The Walker Brothers Book 4) by Amanda Adams <— LIVE!!!
  • Shane’s Truth by V.F. Mason <— LIVE!!!
  • Served (Breaking Free Book 3) by Maya Hughes <— LIVE!!!
  • Wicked Wish (The Wicked Horse Vegas Book 2) by Sawyer Bennett <— LIVE!!! SAWYER BENNETT ALERT!! “…Looking for a long overdue adventure, Jorie takes a walk on the wild side and attends a masquerade event at The Wicked Horse Vegas. It’s exactly the escape she’s looking for, and even better, she can explore anonymously. Drawn to the man masked in black leather with the body of a god, Jorie finds the greatest pleasures of her life at the hands of a stranger...”
  • Black Jewels Series by Anne Bishop <— DARK FANTASY series and Robyn is SQUEEING! And LOVING IT!!!
Robyn: Right now I’m reading The Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop. She wrote The Written in Red series, which is much beloved by lots of folks here. Anywho’s, why did I take so long to start this glorious series?? The writing is outstanding. I was sucked in with the first chapter. I can’t wait to read all the books to see what happens to this girl as she, grows into an adult. I just love it when I find a treasure trove of goodness!! SQUEEE!

Lisa: Yes yes yes. Worth the Fall and the others in this series have been wonderful. Loved them.

Leslie: Ladies….Worth the Fall was good one!! …was sooooo swoony.

Julie o: Worth The Fall is one of my all time favorites. I love how he fits right in with the kids.

Kimberly: I also LOVED LOVED LOVED Claudia Conner’s “Worth the Fall.” I cried. It was beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

  • What She Knew: A Novel by Gilly Macmillan <— PSYCH-THRILLER SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! I one-clicked it already, and it just reminds me to bring it back to the top of my TBR list. YAY ME!!! She’s newly divorced and her young son disappears while he’s with her… “…Rachel, already insecure after her recent divorce, feels herself coming undone. As hours and then days pass without a sign of Ben, everyone who knew him is called into question, from Rachel’s newly married ex-husband to her mother-of-the-year sister. Inevitably, media attention focuses on Rachel too, and the public’s attitude toward her begins to shift from sympathy to suspicion. As she desperately pieces together the threadbare clues, Rachel realizes that nothing is quite as she imagined it to be, not even her own judgment…”

Written in television drama form, each episode of this serial will pull you deeper and deeper into the world of PSU...”
  • DOMINIC (Slater Brothers Book 1) by L.A. Casey <— BULLY BOOK ALERT!! Pia is LOVING it!
Pia: I’m currently reading Dominic by L A Casey. I have had it on my book shelf for three years, and I really don’t understand why it has taken me so long to start this book. I LOVE IT. I really love the bully part of the book, which kind of scares me, as I despise bullies. But these kind of books are new to me, and I would love som recommendations for other great bully books – please :-)
  • Steadfast (True North Book 2) by Sarina Bowen <— SARINA BOWEN SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! OH MY this sounds PERFECT for us!!! He’s out of prison and he’s back in town… “Sophie Haines is stunned by his reappearance. After a three year absence, the man who killed her brother and broke her heart is suddenly everywhere she turns. It’s hard not to stare at how much he’s changed. The bad boy who used to love her didn’t have big biceps and sun-kissed hair. And he’d never volunteer in the church kitchen. No one wants to see Sophie and Jude back together, least of all Sophie’s police chief father...”
Lisa: Great series. Big big love for Bittersweet but Steadfast was even better IMO. I just love a fractured hero. …PS: Steadfast was wonderful. I just loved Jude…I knew I would.
  • MAXWELL: Brothers Ink Tattoo (Brothers Ink Tattoo Series Book 2) by Nicole James <— LIVE!! Morning oops Friday evening here 9pm.

Maryse, what are you reading? I’m reading Atheist book and it’s killing me. Quite understand why Amy’s blood pressure went up.

Ela August 11, 2017 at 6:41 AM

Morning! TGIF

D.G. August 11, 2017 at 6:54 AM

*Whispers Happy Friday everyone while crawling slowly toward the Keurig machine*

Maryse August 11, 2017 at 7:29 AM

Happy Friday!!! I had a full night’s sleep, so I’m all full of pep today! :D

Leslie M August 11, 2017 at 8:12 AM

Morning! I think I might start some of my challenge books. Sins of Sevin by Penelope Ward or Forget by N.A. Alcorn. I am on vacation so I haven’t had much free time.

Cheryl August 11, 2017 at 9:37 AM

Good morning!! I think I Do(n’t) is exactly what I want right now!!*tee-hee*

Cheryl August 11, 2017 at 9:50 AM

Think I’ll save Atheists for when I’m home and can cry in private. Better to be laughing in my daughter’s hospital room then crying. ;)

Amy I said this in a previous post but, I have read all of TF’s previous books, that’s why I’m apprehensive about reading Atheists- her books f*ck with you and there are no guaranteed HEA’s. Have to be in the right frame of mind to read her books and right now I want to laugh, not cry.

bev August 11, 2017 at 11:49 AM

Cheryl, is your daughter doing better?
Definitely would need the right book for waiting in the hospital.

Tessa August 11, 2017 at 11:50 AM

*stares at Roughing’s cover* *blinks* His body looks wrong. Though, I’ll still get it. It sounds like a guy who was a bully, and he plays football. Just… *looks at his side* Did someone gouge out a chunk of his flesh?

GREY! GREY! You see! Dominic is a bully book. I’m not the only one who thinks so.

bev August 11, 2017 at 3:17 PM

Starting the Roanoke Girls.
This is in the prologue. The narrator is a child and wants to tell her mother about the dream she had of her mother’s childhood home, Roanoke. Her mom stops her as soon as the home is mentioned.
Dun dun dun.

“You didn’t even let me tell you,” I whined.
“Did you wake up screaming?”
A dribble of milk ran down my chin, “Huh?”
She turned and glanced at me then, her skin pale, eyes red rimmed. The bones of her face looked sharp enough to cut. “Was it a nightmare?”
I shook my head, confused and a little scared. “No.”
She looked back out the window. “Then it was nothing like that.”

Jan August 11, 2017 at 6:35 PM

Oooh. Sounds gripping, bev. Tessa IKWYM with Roughing’s cover. Weird. But what about Absinthe’s cover? Do you think he’s wearing a little *extra padding* in the pants department? I mean, come on……..

Tessa August 11, 2017 at 7:21 PM

*stares at the cover* I think those are baseball pants that um… Don’t fit right? Maybe?

Tessa August 11, 2017 at 7:33 PM

Though, reading that blurb, I want to read that too!

MichelleS August 11, 2017 at 8:07 PM

Is he wearing those loose pajama bottoms at the stadium? That’s a stadium back there, right?

Jan August 11, 2017 at 8:07 PM

‘Baseball’ pants? Uh huh.

MichelleS August 11, 2017 at 8:09 PM

Jan – “extra padding” – LOL – it looks like a mango – just not right!

D.G. August 11, 2017 at 8:10 PM

Oh wow…I forgot about Dominic. I read that a long time ago. Tessa, he has ink – is that the chunk you are referring to?

Jan August 11, 2017 at 8:11 PM

I meant Absinthe. Look at the full size cover pic on amazon and tell me that’s ‘all him’ *ahem*

Jan August 11, 2017 at 8:12 PM

A mango? *chokes* bwahahaha

D.G. August 11, 2017 at 8:15 PM

Geez Tessa, I thought you were talking about Dominic’s cover. Absinthe’ s cover…ummm, yeah…hummm.

Leslie M August 11, 2017 at 8:41 PM

*holds stomach in pain from laughing so hard*

It sure doesn’t look like a *bleep*

Cheryl August 11, 2017 at 10:42 PM

You guy’s are cracking me up with the covers. The one guy looks anorexic the way he is turned and the other guy’s “girth” is um just not right. hahaha

Bev, my daugher is doing great. Just a slow process from non-weight bearing in casts to now weight bearing. She will be in the hospital until the 22nd getting intensive therapy. Thanks for asking. :)

Tessa August 12, 2017 at 1:03 AM

It looks like baseball pants because he’s oddly shaped! It’s like some weird inner padding that just is so deformed and bulky, it protects what’s underneath.

Jan August 12, 2017 at 2:07 AM

It’s meant be sexy, and I know it’s so wrong but it kinda reminds me of incontinence pants. I know, I know. Sorry to anyone that was about to read Absinthe. Just put that picture right out of your head now.

Jan August 12, 2017 at 2:09 AM

Not that I would know what incontinence pants look like, of course. But, I IMAGINE that’s what they look like….. ;D

Maryse August 12, 2017 at 7:37 AM

I missed all the fun. ;)

Leslie M August 12, 2017 at 7:37 AM

I cannot stop giggling over the Absinthe comments.

Mango, girth, padding, incontinence pants….

Seriously though, what is up with that?? Its just not right and it’s freaking me out.

Roughing cover also weird. These are supposed to be sexy, what the heck???

Kathy P August 12, 2017 at 10:59 AM

I just finished When Life Happens by Jewel E. Ann. I didn’t read your review before I started and finished the book. I think my gasp at the turn in the book could have been heard by my whole neighborhood! I seriously had to read my kindle at least 5 times to make sure what I thought I read was true. I agree, a book from Levi’s point of view would be great to read!!

Grey August 12, 2017 at 11:31 AM

OK. This time, I really am schlepping up to the table smelling like day-old booze… Oy. Can someone pass me some Advil…or a bit of the mess that made me feel like this? My class reunion bar mixer was last night. *blink, blink*

Dang… I’m a lightweight…

Anyway… So there are new bully books that I need to be aware of? Someone remind me tomorrow

bev August 12, 2017 at 2:12 PM

Happy Saturday everyone.

Maryse August 12, 2017 at 7:24 PM

Happy Saturday bev!!!

I need snuggles and hugs. I think we all do. <3

Maryse August 12, 2017 at 7:35 PM

Tequila. Maybe we need that.

Except for Grey. But then again… that old “hair of the dog” thing.

Hrmmm… I need to look that up. How in the heck did a dog hair = hangover aid?

Ashley August 12, 2017 at 7:38 PM

Oh my goodness! I’m laughing so hard at all of these comments, I didn’t even notice anything when I looked at the Absinthe cover the first time – now it’s all I can see!

I read I Do(n’t) and LOVED it!!! Really fun read with lots (and lots) of chemistry.

Grey August 13, 2017 at 10:24 AM

Uh… that cover. Huh. that’s an odd jock strap to be sure. Nice cup, buddy. Man, the convos around here… *giggle*

Yeah, no hair of the dog here… I’m too old for that stuff. I was too old for that stuff in high school, haha! It didn’t stop me then, it does now, however!

*snuggles for Maryse* Everything ok, friend?

I too, have already read I Do(n’t) I actually read that one, way back when when the author was getting ready to submit it to the editor, as a set of proofing eyes. She’d asked me just to read the first 5 chapters, just to make sure it was suitable for submission… I read the whole book that night, LOL! I enjoyed it.

I’m finishing a 3rd read through today, then I have another read and review to do, then hopefully I will get to a bully… *giggle* I am in need of a bully. Top 3 of the best would be helpful, everyone, LOL!

Tessa August 13, 2017 at 5:43 PM

Dominic is a bully book Grey! You must read it because of that alone.

Tessa August 13, 2017 at 8:55 PM

Visiting family for the weekend. Right now I’m just zoning as I watch my nephew play Zelda. The douchbag next book reveal makes me happy. So many good books are coming out that day. :)
