SATURDAY MORNING BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! A few more releases and awesome-sounding book finds to get excited about (and I posted them below in their respective categories)!!

Plus that one I posted yesterday (Night Shifts Black <— that Eli recommended) is being devoured right now and everyone seems to be LOVING it!!!! :D  I posted some of the comments below next to the book cover. I totally one-clicked that one!! Here are a few more:

Today is a special day, and the whole weekend is extra special, ’cause I’ve got one of my bestest book-buddies with me right now. Like… IN. MY. HOUSE!!! For the whole weekend! And we’ve been chatting books, and all sorts of new stuff that our book-friends are loving right now,

Team Kandace!!!! :D

AND AND!!! Kandace will be featured in tomorrow’s “Reader Favorites” post. FINALLY. I’m going to get the Kandace-scoop. She confessed that she wanted to send me one, but she can’t decide on which ones, and I said… ALL OF ‘EM!!!!! Tell us ALL. OF. THEM! Am I right? I’m right. :D

So that’s what’s coming. But in the meantime…

bev: Amy, what’s Maryse reading?

Amy: *scratches head* Ummmmm, I’m not sure what she’s reading right now…last I remember (I’ll have to scroll up and take a look) Collared was spoiled for her, and there were others she was considering before that. She’s being sweet and saving her new Pepper Winters for this weekend so it’s closer to when it is released. ;) Ohhhhhhh Maryyyyyyyyyyse…whatcha reading, huh?

Maryse: Er… you guys? Um.. Well… I am hanging with Kandace, and between two books. She Dims the Stars (which is good… fantastic writing, about an impromptu road trip between a trio of friends and a search for answers to an interesting backstory) but I’m in the mood for a crazy-scary romance thrill!! So… ummm… you guys. I dove into Pepper Winters Unseen Messages: a survival romance novel and so far it is EXACTLY what I want to read. BADLY. I’m only in the first 10% so I haven’t left anyone in the dust yet. Tee hee!!

P.S. I’ll link to the Kindle version as soon as the pre-order goes live (so far, only the paperback is posted)…

Amy: Girls weekend AND finding the perfect read? Now all you need are some Easter-themed cocktails for you two… Give me a little bit and I’ll find some for ya. ;) PEEPS MARTINI!!!!!!!

Maryse: LOL!!!! I LOVE Peeps. And Martinis! You know me well, Amy. You know me well…

I’m still working on the list (I’m a little late today) but we have SO many awesome recommendations to choose from, and I’m adding ‘em as we speak. :D

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

  • The Fire Between High & Lo by Brittany Cherry <— LIVE LIVE LIVE!!!!! WE LOVE THIS author and her latest book is now live! Sounds romantically angsty. YAY US!!

“We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows. Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision–a decision that changed us forever…”

“A warrior with a talent that could get him killed
A girl transported to a new existence with no warning
When the two of them trade lives, it places them in mortal peril.
Not to mention really screwing up their love lives!”
  • 1982: Maneater (Love in the 80s: A New Adult Mix Book 3) by Cambria Hebert <— SHE RULES THE ROOST, AND EVERYONE LOVES HER AND NOBODY DARES CHALLENGE HER… GAH!! I absolutely LOVE the concept of this series. Each novella length story is written by a different author and takes place in the 80′s, and THIS ONE sounds like it would be SO MUCH fun!!!
There hasn’t been a single guy Kelly hasn’t been able to chew up and spit out. Until now.
Kelly has finally met her match. He’s been there all along, and he’s the exact opposite of everything you’d expect.
  • Lie to Me by Gracen Miller <— DYSTOPIAN ALERT! “…the Xeno gene, which provides its bearers with immunity to disease. All adolescent girls are tested for the X-gene, and carriers are obligated to bear children for the good of the human race. The promise of salvation comes at a terrible price…
  • Silver Lining (Silver Cove Book 1) by Jill Sanders <— “Sarah’s been reduced to being the girl with the crazy mom, a reputation that’s not likely to increase her chances of landing her dream promotion at the resort across the bay. Especially with the new competition. Ben is an attractive, sophisticated, and savvy businessman, clearly there to destroy her chances of getting the job. Her luck couldn’t be worse…”
  • Finn Again by Lynda Meyers <— M/M ROMANCE and Nicole is so happy it’s out! “Finn Again Book 5 in the Finn Factor (M/M) series released yesterday by RG Alexander…She has had lots of family medical stuff going on and this was supposed to come out around Christmas…so needless to say people have been patiently waiting but super excited to finally get my hands on this one!!! :)
  • Fated: A Pyte/Sentinel Novel by R.L. Mathewson <— Just went LIVE!!
  • Devoted: Satan’s Rebels MC Book 5 by Kira Johns <— Just went LIVE!!

FIVE-STAR READER RECOMMENDATIONS (and bargain finds!) :D (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).

  • COLLARED by Nicole Williams <— KIDNAPPED GIRL FINALLY SAVED & IS LEARNING TO LIVE AGAIN and… BACK ON THE LIST ’cause it’s ROCKING WORLDS MY FRIENDS!!! Everyone appears to be loving it, and what a twist. That said… *sigh* I bumped right into a spoiler flat-out with no warning, and so… I dunno. Had I not read the spoiler, I know I would have gotten that same OMG jaw-dropping thrill, but for those of you that haven’t read this, it sounds like a SURE thing, just avoid reviews!!!

Cait: So finished collared last night and I loved it!! I couldn’t put it down! I actually thought the ending was appropriate and all things taking into account it would have been unrealistic to finish differently! What was missing was an epilogue 2/3 years down the line to just round it off!!

Amy: *blink* I just got to THAT part in Collared. *blink* Well, damn…I can honestly say I didn’t see that one coming. *shakes head*

Cristina: Those of you that think they’ve figured the twist to Collared, please don’t let it detour you from reading the book. Did it surprise me? Yes, but honestly, even if I knew ahead of time, I still would have read it, and I don’t think it would have taken away much of the story for me. The journey that Jade, Torrin, and her family partake in after such a horrific tragedy makes for a beautiful story and definitely worth your time.

  • Night Shifts Black by Alyson Santos <— OH WOW THE BLURB FOR THIS YOU GUYS!!!!!! Oh I must read this!!! Eli loved it! “It is overwhelmingly beautiful. It touches your heart. LOVED IT! Must read!” And Kandace just showed it to me, on her own, without even seeing this post and I said OMG YES!!!! Let’s read it!!!! YES PLEASE!!!! Check out this blurb!! ”…All they know is that he comes into their café at the same time every morning and stares at the same chair at the same table. They know he’s strange. They know he interrupts their breakfast with a cold blast of air as he hovers in the doorway, mustering the courage to confront a piece of furniture. No one asks why. No one cares. He’s fine with that. He’s done with life. This isn’t even his story anymore. It’s actually Callie’s, the young writer who sat in his chair one day.

Kelly: I stumbled across Night Shifts Black last night – hadn’t heard of it either – and am almost finished. It is SO good. Was planning on letting you guys know about it so it’s great that it’s starting to get some attention

Jeanie: I’m 86% into Night Shifts Black – that blurb totally sold me! And I’m finally at that part where the “chair” is explained. Eeeep the feels!

Kim: I read Night Shifts Black the day it released! It’s MUST reads. A straight forward look in to depression without kid gloves and a HELLUVA read. I stumbled on it before any reviews not really knowing anything other than a former musician was in it ~ that was my initial draw. Boy oh boy, I kept thinking about this hidden gem that way more people need to read!!!

ANGIE: “I have a recommendation. It’s for a book that I just can’t scream loud enough. I’m pretty obsessed with it. It’s so good. It’s light and sexy and the dialogue is funny! It has some angst. The writing is so freaking PHENOMENAL. It’s just a hot read. Intoxicating in EVERY single way. I love it. I’m crazy about it. Anyway… It’s Beguiling by Alex Lucian. It is the 2nd book of his, but it is a COMPLETE standalone read. You don’t have to read Tempting to read this. Although, Tempting is OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing. It’s student teacher and that is on sale as well.”
  • Empathy by Ker Dukey <— DARK ROMANCE READ AUTHOR! Super bargain and Jean just discovered her! And Kandace said there was a twist with this one that she NEVER saw coming. YAY TWISTS!!!

Jean: Oh I just downloaded I SEE YOU, Ela because it was on sale. Haven’t read this author before.

Ela: Jean????????? Seriously???? If you like thriller/psycho/ you should read Empathy by Ker….BUT I really loved this series she did with DH Sidebottom Oh and there is romance in the books just a tad different ;)

Jean: Um. Yeah, just checked and I have Empathy already….bought it back in June 2015…… Annnndddd I have FaCade, the first book in the Deception series! Ok, ok, I need to move these up on my list!

  • This Is Love by Caroline Nolan <— SHE’S MOURNING THE LOSS OF HER FIANCE BUT IN HER DREAMS THEY CONTINUE LIVING THE LIFE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO… Oooooh YES!!! Kandace just found us this one by “fluke” while one-clicking on Amazon, and it sounds AWE-SOME!!!!! Original even… It’s super bargain priced, has plenty of great reviews and just check out this blurb! “By way of dreams, Rachel and Ben continue to live the life they had planned together. It’s unconventional, it’s not even real, but it’s enough for Rachel. For the first time since Ben’s death, she’s happy…whole. That is until she runs into someone she barely knew from years ago and suddenly real life is just as great as her dream one.
  • Where Lightning Strikes (A Bleeding Stars Novel) by A.L. Jackson <— SHE’S A BARTENDER & HE’S A ROCK STAR and Jessica just lost her mind over this one and I can’t help but giggle and cheer with her!! Now I REALLY want to read it!!
“OMG OMG OMG *hopping foot to foot, hands flapping wildly* WHERE LIGHTNING STRIKES… well it struck alright… right between my darn ribs. Lyrik… oh beautiful, utterly messed up, I am going to throttle the absolute sh*t out of you Lyrik. Oh how I love you… u domineering, hurtful, sweet, stupid as#h*le… oh this book will give u whiplash… glorious, angsty, naughty *waggles eyebrows* whiplash… A.L Jackson got me good… the writing was amazing…the hero and heroine where so DEEP!!!! And the story… a perfect blend of pleasure and glorious soul searing pain.”
  • The Darkest Part of the Forest by bev found us this one! “The Darkest Part of the Forest is on sale. It sounds good and has good reviews.” Oh it sounds like a dark fantasy (paranormal?) “In the woods is a glass coffin. It rests on the ground, and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives…. Hazel and her brother, Ben, live in Fairfold, where humans and the Folk exist side by side. Tourists drive in to see the lush wonders of Faerie and, most wonderful of all, the horned boy. But visitors fail to see the danger.”
  • Bound by Steel by Connie Lafortune <— KIDNAP ALERT!!! SHE HAS AN ACCIDENT & IS RESCUED & WAKES UP IN HIS CABIN BUT HE’S SCARY? “You see, I inadvertently revealed my true identity. Now, she can never leave. We will live in hell, until we take our last breaths, together.” And Catherine HIGHLY recommends it!
Catherine: ”I have just read an amazing book by connie lafortune called bound by steel it has everything you want in a book kidnapping, hot alpha male, mystery, angst,a twist that had me shouting out loud which I have only done a few times when reading just thought you need to add this to your tbr list because I know you will love it.”
  • Knox: (A Sexy Bastard Novel) by Eve Jagger <— BEST FRIEND’S LITTLE SISTER and they’re trying to keep their secret.
  • Shelter Us: A Novel by Laura Nicole Diamond <— OH BOY THIS ONE SOUNDS CRAZY & GOOD!!! She’s trying to hold her family together after the loss of their baby daughter and… “…one day walking in L.A., Sarah’s heart catches at the sight of a young homeless woman pushing a baby in a stroller—and saving them becomes her obsessive mission. An unlikely bond grows between Sarah and the young mother, Josie. When tragedy threatens Josie, Sarah discovers that she is capable of deceptions and transgressions she never imagined.

  1. For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free ebooks deal —>
  2. AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —>Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as AUDIOBOOKS AT AN AH-MAZING PRICE!<—Audiobooks for ebook super-sale prices. I’m thrilled with that, and what’s fun is you can flip flop from reading it, to listening to it without losing your spot… This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL! (This is the “Whispersync” thingie).

Michelle: trying to find cheaper audiobooks since I go through about 2/week. I’ve been getting a lot from the library but running out of interesting titles. Just signed up for the audible daily deals so hoping to stock up

Fabi: Michelle the least expensive Audibles I find are the ones that have whispersync for the books I already have on my Kindle library. Since the tbr is so big, there’s always something there I haven’t gotten to read yet. Sometimes I picked up a free Kindle book and can add Audible to it for $1.99. I use that tool that Maryse posts above to help me find Audible versions of books I already own with. You just have to sample the narrator first to make sure it’s a good one.

Michelle: Fabi, I tried the tool Maryse has above. No clue why I never checked it out but it’s awesome!! Thank you Maryse and Fabi for pointing it out :D I have the free trial for Audible right now…

I’m so jealous!! I wish I had a book buddy at my house!!! Only one of my friends reads as voracious as me!!! We keep saying we are going to have a reading & review weekend!! I need to plan that right away!! My tbr list grows again!!! Maryse, will you read Cruel & Beautiful? I need to discuss it with someone who read it. It was amazing, confusing & I cried my lil heart out!! I usually like to avoid those kind of books but I’m so glad I didn’t. Now I’m reading A Mess of A Men by the same author & it’s about one of the characters from Cruel & Beautiful. So far so good!! Happy Good Friday!!!

Maryse March 25, 2016 at 12:56 PM

I haven’t yet, Lisa but i one-clicked it and it’s on my main TBR list right now.

That said… AMY DID read it. :D

Cheryl March 25, 2016 at 1:14 PM

Love the cover to Unseen Messages. Can’t wait to read what you think about it Maryse.
Couple angsty one’s on this list calling to me- The Fire Between High and Lo and Night Shift Black. That last one reminds me of a similar story read a while back but can’t remember the title. The H had lost someone…have to look at my read list…

Cheryl March 25, 2016 at 2:32 PM

Ah, I think the book is Therapy and the character I’m thinking of is Kingsley. *sigh, sweet Kingsley*

Amy March 25, 2016 at 2:41 PM

Yep Lisa, I read it and my heart is still aching a couple of days later because of it. I had to do some shopping online for scrubs (I get to wear scrubs while I volunteer!!!!) and the stupid scrubs model in the picture set me off crying!! I think my experience was…er…different in “how” I read it (we have to be VERY, VERY careful not to spoil anything here ;) ), and to be honest I think it hurt so much more because of that.

Cheryl…I’m with ya on those two books. With. Ya. :D

Holy moly…between Cruel and Beautiful, Collared (SO not fair what’s happening in it :( ), the blurbs for TFBHAL and NSB, Tabitha McGowan’s blog posts *sob*, and my sh!t mood right now…dangit, I’m a freaking mess, lol.

Amy March 25, 2016 at 2:45 PM

And now I’m thinking about Therapy…WAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Maryse and Kandace…have a drink (or ten) for us and have a BLAST hanging out this weekend!! What a great way to spend Easter. ;)

Lisa M March 25, 2016 at 3:08 PM

Amy, I still can’t stop thinking about the book!! You should start reading the next book. So far so good!! Even at the end of C&B the author says if reviewing not to give any spoilers away!!! If that doesn’t entice everyone to read this book!! I even tried explaining the book to my hubby & my kids so I could talk about it. Surprise surprise it wasn’t like discussing a book with all of you!!

Paula March 25, 2016 at 4:04 PM

Ooh I forgot I had the next one to C&B – next on my TBR after the fire between high and lo. Then I think I am in the mood for a real alpha – not sure what it will be though?? My TBR list is getting even more ridiculous now over 2800 and I am trying to restrict my 1-clicking…oh well

Eli March 25, 2016 at 4:04 PM

Total fan girl moment….I just said “Maryse, said my name!” Wow, thanks for posting about Night Shifts Black. It is a MUST read!!!

Maryse March 25, 2016 at 4:24 PM

It looks SO GOOD Eli!!! We are TWO in the same house that want to read it! :D

Eli March 25, 2016 at 4:40 PM

It is different than any other read! Trust me! My blog is helping Alyson promote her book. She is an amazing new author. I actually read her historical romance first….which couldn’t be any different than this book but also amazing. I finished Night Shifts Black, and I was speechless. I couldn’t review it right away or talk about it. I just FELT it. I absorbed all the “feels” that come with it. AMAZING. One of my ultimate favorites.
P.S. Another fan girl moment…not gonna lie!

Paula March 25, 2016 at 4:43 PM

OK Eli – you have me convinced! Just 1-clicked!! TBR after Hi and Lo and mess of a man and after I have found a real bossy alpha to read!!

Eli March 25, 2016 at 4:48 PM

Yay, Paula!

Grey March 25, 2016 at 5:53 PM

*grumble* So insanely jealous. Maryse is having a girls weekend AND reading a new Pepper Winters SMH, life ain’t fair y’all…

I think I’ve decided on The Tied Man… I’m in the mood for dark and twisty angst…

Guess what I heard. The Beast by JR Ward comes out on April 5th… woot woot! Gimme some old school BDB, now if she’ll just swing around and give me another book about V… *drool*

bev March 25, 2016 at 5:58 PM

Volunteer work at the hospital. I would say like a candy striper :P but it’s actually through school so students can get a feel for what they would like to do. No pay (obviously) and no college credits, but it’s a nice way to see different departments and positions.

I can’t wait to snuggle the babies as a “cuddler” in the NICU. :D

Amy March 25, 2016 at 6:26 PM

Bev…sorry, I forgot to note I was answering your question up there. ;)

bev March 25, 2016 at 6:31 PM

That’s awesome Amy. And admirable. I was in a NICU once and they had the biggest baby I’d ever seen. And also the tiniest.

bev March 25, 2016 at 6:33 PM

20 questions? Cause I’m procrastinate incarnate. And it will give me something to read while running errands if any of you are around. I’m going to adapt some qs I saw and thought were cute. Ready?

Amy March 25, 2016 at 6:38 PM

Aw, thanks Bev. It’s going to be fun. :)

I’ll be around for a little bit longer, so I’m up for 20 questions!

bev March 25, 2016 at 6:39 PM

Peeps or Cadbury Eggs?

Miniature goat or donkey?

If you owned a bookstore what would you name it?

A line from a poem/lyric from a song?

If we all got together what fictional character should we invite?

Paula March 25, 2016 at 6:40 PM

Amy – I have just read Tabitha’s blog posts – glad I am drinking wine – so so sad

Amy March 25, 2016 at 7:09 PM

I know, Paula…I was snot crying by the end but so glad she could share what happened. I hope doing that was therapeutic for her, even if just a little bit.

Lisa M…I finally checked out the blurb for A Mess of a Man and ohhhhhh man. *clutches chest* I’m still hurtin’ from C&B so I’m going to wait a bit.

YEAH GREY!!! TTM is dark and angsty and heartbreaking and oh so good.

Amy March 25, 2016 at 7:17 PM

1. PEEPS!! Always!

2. Miniature goat…I love how they sound.

3. The Bookup :P

4. Train, 50 Ways to Say Goodbye – “That’s cool, but if my friends ask where you are I’m gonna say…” and then all of the ways he lists after that how he’ll say she died, LOL! And the tune is so dang catchy!

5. BARRONS!!!! I would make it my goal to break him, whether it’s from being irritated or cracking up. ;)

bev March 25, 2016 at 7:33 PM

I’m having a hard time coming up with answeres, lol. Amy yours are great. The Bookup~ha!
1. Cadbury eggs.
2.donkey. I knew the sweetest mini goat but kinda obsessed with the mini donkey right now.
3. I. Can. Not. Think. Of. One. So as a nod to you all and a wink to Lisa I’ll go with Squirrel.
4. This is hard to narrow down to one. But ” i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)” I love the whole last part of that poem that starts with, “here is the deepest secret nobody knows”
Also how it is used in In Her Shoes. Just that yes can be romantic or also the fierce love we can have for family or friends.
5. Hermione Granger.

Amy March 25, 2016 at 7:42 PM

Oh, a MINI donkey?? Now that would be adorable.

Hey, why don’t we call your book store Squirrelers!!! :D

bev March 25, 2016 at 8:16 PM

Amy, lol. I’m trying to think of that sign.

We talk about so many CR/NA here its cool to see the responses to the HR list.

Maryse March 25, 2016 at 8:40 PM

Miniature goat or donkey? Mini goat!! SO CUTE!

If you owned a bookstore what would you name it? I like books! (sorry… never thought on that one before)

A line from a poem/lyric from a song? “I can’t be near you, the light just radiates.” (because they shine SO DARN BRIGHTLY… or they’re so “good”… I dunno but I love that.) P.S. That’s from the band “Hole” and the song is called “Malibu” (and it’s actually a pretty sweet, mellow, beautiful BEAUTIFUL song, if you can stand her voice). LOL!

If we all got together what fictional character should we invite? Travis. Because. :P And yes… still.

Maryse March 25, 2016 at 8:41 PM

Whaaaaaa??? There are mini donkeys?!

Maryse March 25, 2016 at 8:42 PM

Wow… I love that line bev!!

Maryse March 25, 2016 at 8:43 PM

Oh Amy that’s cool too!!

bev March 25, 2016 at 8:46 PM

Travis, Barrons, and Hermione, lol. Love it.
I like books -I can see that.

bev March 25, 2016 at 8:52 PM
Amy March 25, 2016 at 9:09 PM

Okay, I still stand by my lyrics (seriously, check out the song with the lyrics LOL!) but since you two put beautiful pieces of a song and a poem, can I add this without seeming like I’m trying to one-up you guys? ‘Cause I would feel like the biggest heel if that was the case. :?

This gives me a lump in my throat anytime I think of it or read it…
“See, there’s this place in me where your fingerprints still rest, your kisses still linger, and your whispers softly echo. It’s the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me. ― Gretchen Kemp

Amy March 25, 2016 at 9:11 PM

O. M. G.

I so want to snuggle a mini donkey now.

Fabi March 25, 2016 at 9:14 PM

Mini donkeys are cuteness

I could use one to snuggle about now.

Jean!!! @61% I CAN’T read about this kind of stuff. *points finger at Jean* You’re helping me find a good therapist after this.

bev March 25, 2016 at 9:25 PM

Maryse, I love the idea of seeing people like that as almost too much.

Amy, share share share. I love quotes from music, books, etc. That’s really beautiful.

Lisa M March 25, 2016 at 9:43 PM

Oh Amy!! You are amazing!! My first born was a premie!! Only 2 lbs!! Loved all the support at the hospital!! Now he is 21 yrs old & doing amazing!! I felt the same way reading the next book but I’m continuing on!!
Cadbury eggs!! Yum!!! Red wine & chips too!!

bev March 25, 2016 at 9:45 PM
Kim Box Person March 25, 2016 at 9:48 PM

I read Night Shifts Black the day it released!

Tessa March 25, 2016 at 10:02 PM

Peeps or Cadbury Eggs?
Peeps, but only flavored. I’m not really a fan of either.
Miniature goat or donkey?
Goat, because they’re cute!
If you owned a bookstore what would you name it?
Paper Dreams
A line from a poem/lyric from a song?
‘I came here by day, but I left here in darkness
And found you, found you on the way’
Silver and Cold by AFI
If we all got together what fictional character should we invite?
Hehehe, Bev, I’d invite Snape!

Tessa March 25, 2016 at 10:18 PM

Bev… uh… No. Just no. *goes to bleach her eyes*

Jeanie V. March 25, 2016 at 10:27 PM

I’m 86% into Night Shifts Black – that blurb totally sold me! And I’m finally at that part where the “chair” is explained. Eeeep the feels!

bev March 25, 2016 at 10:32 PM

Tessa, they are something. Snape, huh. This will be an interesting get together. I sometimes wish Snape’s life could be re-written. Don’t you just hear Rickman’s voice?
Marys, read HP.

bev March 25, 2016 at 10:34 PM

You and Amy are way better at naming things than Maryse & I.

Tessa March 25, 2016 at 10:56 PM

She’s not even seen the movie, so all I’ll say is he’d be interesting. :)

Maryse, Read HP! *throws a peanut. Then throws another for Bev’s request*

Kim Box Person March 25, 2016 at 11:10 PM

Jeanie yes the feels!!! Enjoy the rest of the book

Cheryl March 25, 2016 at 11:59 PM

Cadbury Eggs, hate Peeps, though think I could suffer thru the peeps martini.

Mini-donkey and I’d get a little door flap like that Amazon commercial.

Book Hangover

“The truth about romance is this: We are all novels; our pages stained with the fingerprints of either our lovers or loneliness.” –Christopher Poindexter

That’s a hard one; have to go with Kellan.

Ann March 26, 2016 at 6:42 AM

Ok I had to look up what peeps were but I’ll choose the eggs, you can’t go wrong with chocolate.

Mini donkey and I would call it Bodhi, like Patrick Swayze in Point Break (don’t ask me why)

Books and Brunch

“We kissed like we invented it, and now I know what every step is fore,
To lead me to your door”, from the song Mirrorball by Elbow

Jamie Fraser !!!

Grey March 26, 2016 at 8:21 AM

Cadbury eggs…but the milk chocolate kind.

Mini donkey and I’d name it smassy (small a$$)

Any line??? The last song I heard was Sunday Morning by Maroon 5. ‘Things just get so crazy, living life gets hard to do. Sunday morning, rain is falling and I’m calling out for you.”

Nora Sutherlin. Hands down!!!

The Tied Man… Started it…

bev March 26, 2016 at 9:53 AM

Cheryl, a door flap. That’s great. Could you imagine guest on the sofa and a little donkey wanders by.
Ann, you didn’t know what peeps are? Wait, where do you live? We used to have food conversations with Laura (Scotland). It was always interesting and led to Google.
Grey! For a bit I thought it was going to be all hot guys and Hermione & Snape, lol. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
That line makes me want to listen to Sunday Morning Coming Down. It just slays me, hits on loneliness so perfectly.

Ann March 26, 2016 at 10:09 AM

Bev, I live in Belgium and we are kinda famous for our belgian chocolates, pralines and truffles. We’ve been making it since early 17th century!

bev March 26, 2016 at 10:38 AM

Ann of course, sorry. I wasn’t paying attention and got you confused with Anne. Who I thought was in the states. Um, pretty sure your chocolate kicks a peeps a$$. Though I love a peep. Do you have anything like the Cadbury creme egg?

bev March 26, 2016 at 10:41 AM

I’ve been thinking of like peeps, Cadbury eggs & creme eggs. I love them. But part of it is that they only came out at Easter. A bit of nostalgia in the mix, you know?
I have noticed in last couple years that they are coming out on other holidays in slightly different forms and I don’t have any desire for them then.

Amy March 26, 2016 at 10:54 AM

Cadbury mini eggs are yummy! Especially if you hold a handful of them in your closed fist for a few minutes to warm them up, and then the chocolate is all soft and creamy in the candy shell. YUM.

Now, the Cadbury creme eggs? They make me gag. I used to love them when the creme was actually thinner and more runny and would pour out…for some reason they’ve made it thicker and it reminds me almost of fondant. Blech.

The Peeps that are dipped in chocolate…YES!!!! Orrrrr you can melt Hershey’s drops and dip the Peeps in that. Serious mouthgasm right there.

bev March 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM

Yes , have done melting chocolate and dip the bottoms in. Made easter bark one time and pieces of the bunny one on it, lol. Poor bunny.

bev March 26, 2016 at 11:01 AM

Those Cadbury eggs are like potato chips.

Renee March 26, 2016 at 11:14 AM

Both the Peeps and the Cadbury Eggs are safe in this house. The Reeces Peanut Butter eggs, however, mysteriously disappeared from my daughter’s basket last night…

Tessa March 26, 2016 at 11:18 AM

Non-cream eggs would be better. I just don’t like Cadbury chocolate. It’s a cheap chocolate. Plain peeps just taste even worst to me. If I’m going to have Easter candy, it’ll be Milky Way eggs. Those are yummy!

I finished Born of Betrayal. So good, but the end seemed overly drawn out. I think we all know, after reading that end, who the next book is about.

Maryse March 26, 2016 at 11:19 AM

*rubs nose* OUCH!!!

Eats peanut and contemplates HP. I have the wholllllle series you guys!! I got an awesome deal on it!

My preciousssses. Oh wait. That’s the other book series that I haven’t read yet either. LOL!

Ann March 26, 2016 at 11:34 AM

Yes Bev, in fact we have many creme egg fillings, too much, such hardship if one has to taste every kind ;-)

Amy, I think it’s great that you volunteer at the hospital, I help out at my local library.

Cheryl March 26, 2016 at 11:37 AM

What’s everyone reading? I finally finished the Calendar Girl series. Yeh!! It was good and thankfully each book was quick, but still it was 12 books, so I’m ready for something new. Going away this weekend and need something for the car ride. :)

Tessa March 26, 2016 at 11:57 AM

Yeah, Lord of the Rings… I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but watch the movies. It’s better. It took the book forever to leave the shore.

Tessa March 26, 2016 at 12:01 PM

Argh, stupid autocorrect. Shire!

Cheryl March 26, 2016 at 12:37 PM

Maryse, did you and Kandace read Night Shifts Black?? It’s between that one, Ginger’s Heart, The Fire Between High and Lo and Music Notes. Maybe Kept, ugh I don’t know… need a little guidance here because obviously I’m all over the place with what I want to read next.

bev March 26, 2016 at 12:42 PM

Tessa, love the movies. Only read the first book. Maybe part of the second. Just remember the part with the trees seemed very long.

bev March 26, 2016 at 12:48 PM

Why do I always feel like I’m in my own little corner with my own little pile of books. I’m looking at Cheryl’s list and know none of them. Though have seen you ladies comments on them.
Based on title I’d go with Night Shifts Black. What does it mean?

Fabi March 26, 2016 at 12:50 PM

Cheryl, I finished Kept last night. Jean’s awesome recommendation. I’ve never read anything like that plot before. Honestly, it was a little triggery for me personally, but such a great story. I’m patting myself on the back for getting through it with only minor meltdowns. I read the entire book in one day! I couldn’t put it down.

Thanks Jean!

Fabi March 26, 2016 at 12:51 PM

Lol Bev, I always feel the same way with your lists. Most of them I’ve never heard of. You always make me curious about what you’re reading.

Fabi March 26, 2016 at 12:56 PM

Alright. I’m done. I read two emotional and triggery books back to back. Finley which I ranted throughout and Kept which I managed to keep my meltdowns to a minimum. (yeah me)

But, now I’m done. Break time! I need a book with 0 angst, 0 emotional turmoil, 0 triggers.

I honestly have NO IDEA how you ladies read so many of those ultra emotional books. I am TOTAL wimp.

I’m off to find something to read. It may end up being a children’s book. lol. Maybe I can find something in sci-fi that won’t involve my heart.

DG March 26, 2016 at 12:59 PM

1. Cadbury Eggs (preferably from UK …word has it that they are so much better than ours)
2. Mini donkey – my girl loves horses and those are close
3. My Happy Place (because a bookstore really is MY happy place!)
4. ‘I want that red velvet, I want that sugar sweet, Don’t let nobody touch it Unless that somebody’s me’ – Sugar Marron 5
5. Remy… If nothing else but to look at. *winks*

DG March 26, 2016 at 1:12 PM

Grey! Smassy! LMAO!

Amy March 26, 2016 at 3:03 PM

SEE?!? That’s why I invites Barrons…he may be hot but he would be totally standoffish so there’s no real risk of anyone trying to jump him or lick his red and black tats. YOU guys want to bring Travis, Kellan, Jamie, Remy…you guys would go from being flirty to sitting in their laps to licking their tats and before you know it there will be an all-out orgy going on in here. :P

Amy March 26, 2016 at 3:04 PM

Jean March 26, 2016 at 3:23 PM

Fabi! I’m so glad you liked it! Hope it wasn’t too much for you. DG, you finish yet? Now, I’d like to get Maryse to read it! *hint hint Maryse*

I’m reading The Fire Between High & Lo and loving it so far!

Tessa March 26, 2016 at 3:24 PM

Dude, I’m bringing Snape. I don’t think anyone plans to lick him.

bev March 26, 2016 at 3:29 PM

And stay away from Hermione you pervs.

Cheryl March 26, 2016 at 4:02 PM

Bev, don’t really know but if I had to guess I would say depression and whatever happened that involved the “chair.”

Fabi, thanks for the recommendation. I’m going to read the sample for that one and the one Jean is reading now and decide.
As far as a no-angst book for you have you read Love, Chloe by A. Torre? Really a lighthearted book or The Mother Road by Meghan Quinn. :)

Cheryl March 26, 2016 at 4:03 PM

Amy, well duh…what’s your point again?!

Amy March 26, 2016 at 4:06 PM

My point is I don’t wanna see y’all gettin’ on with the guys, LOL!!

So Bev, fish tacos aren’t on the menu?

Amy March 26, 2016 at 4:08 PM

Uhhh… *re-reads comment*

Yeahhhhhhh, I’m just gonna…*points to corner*…go hang out over there with my potty mouth…

Fabi March 26, 2016 at 4:29 PM

Lol Amy!

Thanks Cheryl. I’ve had Love, Chloe in my sights. I’ll have to check out the other one too.

bev March 26, 2016 at 4:30 PM

O.M.God Amy. Laughing so hard.
It took a nanosecond for me to get that. And I’m thinking how’d she know I don’t eat fish. Lol. Then the joke hit.

Amy March 26, 2016 at 4:31 PM

Tessa March 26, 2016 at 4:31 PM

ROFL Amy. Whatever floats your boat, but she is under age. That’s kind of illegal. :P

bev March 26, 2016 at 4:37 PM

Tessa, totally what I was thinking when I made the comment, her age.

Cheryl March 26, 2016 at 4:39 PM

Tessa March 26, 2016 at 5:02 PM

I know. :) But hey, if Amy wants Nora, she’s all hers. *grins impishly*

Amy March 26, 2016 at 5:48 PM

Nooooooooop…I’m just fine with my Mexican sausage, thank you very much. ;)

By the way, who is Nora???

Lisa M March 26, 2016 at 5:52 PM

Cheryl, read Wild The complete series by Emma Hart!!! Hot hot hot!!! Not sure if it’s still on sale. It was so good. I was addicted!! Lol!! When you read the premise you will get the addiction comment!! I don’t know how you read in the car. I wish I could. I feel car sick when I do!!

Grey March 26, 2016 at 5:54 PM

Bwahahahaha…*deep breath* hahahahahahahahah. JFC Amy, hahahahhaa! You are awesome!

And excuse me. Nora was my pick, if anyone could make me swing to the other team it would totes be her!

Grey March 26, 2016 at 5:55 PM

Oh Nora is Nora Sutherlin, the MC from The Siren by Tiffany Reisz that I’ve been trying to get you to read forever….

Lisa Kay March 26, 2016 at 6:21 PM

Fabi who is the author of “Kept”, believe it or not there are a lot of books by that name? Thanks, and hope you have a great Easter!

DG March 26, 2016 at 6:35 PM

Jean, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! It was EXACTly what I needed and wanted…devastated and broken hottie…mixed with a h who has spunk and a little too much pride. Yep, I can handle those kind of ‘second chance’ reads! I will be checking what else has been written by this author definitely.

Amy, now I did say ‘looking’ at Remy, didn’t I??? *starts looking for my earbuds for my ipod*

DG March 26, 2016 at 6:40 PM

Saw someone ask this question elsewhere the other day……

You are STUCK in an elevator with three book boyfriends….. who are they???????

DG March 26, 2016 at 6:42 PM

Lisa Kay …..A.C. Bextor

Michelle March 26, 2016 at 7:06 PM

Cadbury eggs for sure because Peeps are too cute to murder with your mouth!

Mini goat; those mini donkeys are the devil in real life trust me

“I would like to be the air that inhabits you for a moment only. I would like to be that unnoticed and that necessary.” Margaret Atwood

Jaime Fraser – Ann we can share right ;)

Jean March 26, 2016 at 7:15 PM

Yay DG! I’m so glad you loved it!

Fabi, if you are looking for a no angst book with lots of humor, The Infamous Ellen James! Hysterical!

Grey March 26, 2016 at 7:32 PM

Stuck in an elevator with three book boyfriends??? *ahem* let’s be perfectly clear here, the only reason we are stuck in this elevator is because I broke it with my very own hands… And I will throw down with anyone who tries to fix it, got it??? Now…back to the question. Will Sumner from Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren. Zach Easton from The Siren by Tiffany Reisz and Brother Vishous from the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward.

Good Lord… I need a minute… Or several minutes after typing that…

Jean March 26, 2016 at 8:03 PM

Remy, Zhadist and Jesse Ward in my elevator!! Yum!!!!! ( and no emergency phone either…..I don’t need it lol)!

DG March 26, 2016 at 8:24 PM

If I was stuck in an elevator TODAY, it would definitely be Remy, Tack Allen, and Malcolm Saint! Over a LONG holiday weekend, no phone or reception! *fans face*

Tomorrow….I might have to get stuck with a whole other set!

Grey and Jean, I am right there with you ladies!!!!

bev March 26, 2016 at 8:26 PM

Jean, I feel like we would have to save you if you got stuck with those three.

bev March 26, 2016 at 8:28 PM

Fabi, when I was posting about that separate corner I thought that you have your own sometimes too. Lol.

Three BBF, huh? Not so easy since a few good reads. Mason from Fallen Crest High (of course!), Seth from Oblivion series, and Andrew from Hustle. He’s a newbie but he seriously stole my heart.

Tessa March 26, 2016 at 8:42 PM

Oooh, thanks Amy!

Lisa Kay March 26, 2016 at 9:10 PM

Thanks DG, I appreciate it, have a great Easter!

Jean March 26, 2016 at 9:26 PM

Oh sh!t, l forgot about Logan! I need him in the elevator too! Nah bev, I don’t need saving. They need me!!! Lol!

Fabi March 26, 2016 at 10:10 PM

Lol Jean!

Thanks for the list Amy.

Bev, I don’t think I have a corner. I’m more like out in left field. But I think I read enough books in common with all of you here and occasionally get one of you to try something a little different. I know I’ve found the BEST books from recs here.

I have no idea who my three BBF would be. It seems like every time I read a new book I have a new BBF. Call me flighty fabi. :-/

bev March 26, 2016 at 10:32 PM

Michelle, I refuse to believe you about the donkey.
That is a lovely quote.

DG March 27, 2016 at 9:21 AM

Wishing all my peeps a Happy Easter! For those who celebrate and Happy Sunday for those don’t!

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 9:33 AM

Happy Easter DG and everyone.

Tessa March 27, 2016 at 11:27 AM

*yawns, still trying to wake up* Why don’t children get that Sunday’s are the Day of rest. :-P . Happy Easter everybody!

Jean, how could you forget Logan? One word… tomorrow. *does happy dance*

bev March 27, 2016 at 11:33 AM

Because the last person she needs to add to that trio is the manic giggler.

Happy Easter to Everyone.

One and a half finished of my four books. Fighting the urge to squirrel.

Thanks Amy. I can resist all these dystopian and apocalyptic freebies you keep posting.

Tessa March 27, 2016 at 4:00 PM

See Amy. see! Every Last Breath is 99 cents. You gotta get that. However, read it after NOLA. :P

bev March 27, 2016 at 4:45 PM

I finished Sweathearts. Not sure what I think. Fast and we’ll written. Yet, thin somehow. Really bittersweet. Maybe to much on the sad and ambiguous side for me. Plus, really wanted to know more about one character in paticular.

Cheryl March 27, 2016 at 5:49 PM

Thanks Amy!!

Happy Easter!! :)

LisaM, thanks for the rec. I’m going to check it out.

bev March 27, 2016 at 7:10 PM

I want to stick to my tbr but The Darkest Part of the Forest is seriously calling to me. Decisions.

Michelle March 27, 2016 at 7:19 PM

Happy Easter! Winding down and have 45 min to read before Walking Dead. Finished the third Raven Cycle book and now really really want the last one! Wasn’t sure what to read next so just went with Kept.

Jean March 27, 2016 at 7:37 PM

Tessa! Logan is TOMORROW?!? TOMORROW!!!! You just made my night! And I’ll be all ready for it!

Finishing The Fire Between High and Lo tonight! Love it! Definite 5 star read for me! Brittainy Cherry absolute go-to author for me at this point!

Hope you all had a Happy Easter!

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 7:45 PM

Tomorrow? whaaaaat I just finished a book and I don’t want to start another one that I won’t be finished with in time for Logan

bev March 27, 2016 at 7:46 PM

Tessa, is Logan’s h introduced in the FC books?

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 8:06 PM

yuuup Bev. A little.

Tessa March 27, 2016 at 8:41 PM
Tessa March 27, 2016 at 8:42 PM

I don’t know her from FC books, nope. The name doesn’t ring a bell, but from the little teaser Tijan released, she sounds perfect for him.

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 8:44 PM

What? I thought it was going to be the girl we met in the last book. I can’t remember her name.

bev March 27, 2016 at 8:49 PM

Hmm. Then maybe I’ll read it. I haven’t read all the FC books, just the first one. Maybe the second.
Right now though reading the Darkest Part of the Forest. And it is good. Really good but still early.
*sigh* I really need to get to Mif, want to get to it.

Tessa March 27, 2016 at 8:49 PM

The clingy nutcase? Or was there someone else?

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 9:19 PM

Was she clingy? I don’t remember that. Now I’m going to have to look her us in that last book. Not easy since I don’t remember her name.

bev March 27, 2016 at 9:35 PM

I think the blurb said Taylor.

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 9:48 PM

Ok so there’s no Taylor in Fallen Crest University. Guess I’m wrong or thinking of someone else.

I don’t think I’ve read Fallen Crest Christmas. Did that one come after University?

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 9:50 PM

I wish I’d realized that before starting Clarity. It sounds like Christmas leaves off right where Logan picks up.

Amy March 27, 2016 at 9:52 PM

I’m getting ready to settle in with Logan Kade and a big serving of this (except I baked it in a regular casserole dish with a graham cracker crust)…

Between him and that dessert, I’m in a state of bliss right now. ;)

Jean March 27, 2016 at 9:53 PM

Omg that cover! Logan Kade is MINE!

Jean March 27, 2016 at 9:55 PM

FC Christmas did come after University Fabi. It was a short, but great novella!

bev March 27, 2016 at 9:58 PM

Amy, I want. I love marshmallow desserts.

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 10:13 PM

Uh, sorry Jean but you’re going to have to share Logan. He’s not all that broken. :-) and yup, that’s my lickable cover

Fabi March 27, 2016 at 10:16 PM

But…because I’m such a good friend…you can have him first.

I didn’t realise it was out already and now I have to finish Clarity and read Christmas before I even get to Logan. Just…take good care of him OK? I want him back squeaky clean and shiny.

bev March 28, 2016 at 8:17 AM

Stayed up late reading and now stayed in bed too long reading. *sigh*
Going to have to rush to beat the clock.

Fabi March 28, 2016 at 8:28 AM

Bev, I hate clocks. I got up extra early to read and still I sit here making myself late. Tick tock, so annoying.

Jean March 28, 2016 at 8:55 AM

Ugh bev! It is so rainy and dreary here, all I wanted to do was curl up on my couch with a blanket and a book! I hate Mondays!

Maryse March 28, 2016 at 9:16 AM

But today is an extra special Monday, ’cause today’s early bird list is insane you guys… best one in months. Tijan AND R.K. Lilley came out one day early… I *thudded* LOL!

And it’s raining and dreary here, too. And I miss Kandace ’cause she’s off to Disney for the week.

Jean March 28, 2016 at 9:51 AM

I stayed up late finishing The Fire Between High & Lo…..LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!!!!! Please read it guys!

Now, Logan is waiting for me so I must go…!

Wait, wait, R.K. Liley!! Oh I am so screwed this week with all the new releases!

Tessa March 28, 2016 at 2:41 PM

Logan was so good. I want to hug him even more. That’s it! I’m adopting him! I really liked Taylor too. She’s sweet.

Fabi March 28, 2016 at 2:46 PM

You already read it?! OMG Tessa. Did you start it today? I’m on, like, page 3.

Tessa March 28, 2016 at 2:51 PM

It came in at 6 my time last night. :) Add to that laying down all day coughing out a lung due to stupid allergies, yep done!

Heck if not for allergies, I’d have finished it yesterday. :)

Jean March 28, 2016 at 3:04 PM

Tessa! What the heck! So is Logan taking Mason’s place for you?

Tessa March 28, 2016 at 3:07 PM

Nope. Mason I love. Logan I want to have as a brother and just hug him.

Jean March 28, 2016 at 3:11 PM

I want to hug him too….just not as a brother! Lol! Hope you are feeling better! Allergies are kicking my ass too!

Tessa March 28, 2016 at 3:12 PM

Crap. I adopted Breaking Him, but my brain went blank about it. Then again, I get to read a book I adored the first time. :-) Yeah!

Tessa March 28, 2016 at 3:14 PM

:-) Thank you Jean. Hope you feel better too. Enjoy Logan. I heard he’s all sloppy from Fabi’s licking tendencies.

Fabi March 28, 2016 at 3:36 PM

“licking tendencies” baaahaaahaha

MichelleS March 28, 2016 at 6:59 PM

Stuck in an elevator with three book boyfriends?? Oh boy! Eenie meenie miney mo…. Jamie Frasier, Rammel Hawking, Adam Black. Needed a ginger, blonde, & brunette.

MichelleS March 28, 2016 at 7:04 PM

Wait a minute Bev!!! You haven’t read MiF yet? Now I don’t feel so bad. I’m on wait list at library & felt like a bad Bishop fan, but if you haven’t read it, then I can stop feeling guilty. I did finish Feverborn & new Briggs book, so I’m slowly getting there.

bev March 28, 2016 at 7:09 PM

MichelleS, you have to go to Monday post. Maryse has started a fan fic erotica f/m/f about 3 in the elevator.
I know. *hangs head*.
It was just a bad time for it to come out. Would of been lucky to get 10 min a night in. I’ll wait if you want. We could br it. I want to be able to fully enjoy it.

Maryse March 28, 2016 at 7:14 PM

AND 3 in the blankie fort!!! Don’t forget the blankie fort. The root of all erotica!

bev March 28, 2016 at 7:20 PM

Well, yes. It is made of

Cheryl March 28, 2016 at 8:32 PM

Reading Ginger’s Heart and I am really liking it.

Jean I’m moving that one up my tbr list.

Can’t wait for Hardball by CD Reiss to release tomorrow.

Will read those on airplane trip to Grand Canyon tomorrow w/family. Well, probably not both tomorrow, but will finish on trip back. Not sure will be online so have a great week everyone if I don’t check-in. :)

bev March 28, 2016 at 9:00 PM

Cheryl have fun. Sounds exciting. Would love to see the Grand Canyon. Pethe a donkey for us.

Maryse February 1, 2019 at 10:04 AM

Cheryl, we did!!

I liked it but not as much as most here did (because I was one of the ones that didn’t like the change of direction from where I thought it was going). ;)

Maryse February 1, 2019 at 10:05 AM

bev… it’s the name of their band (it’s a rock star book but the lead singer is in a MAJOR depression… and he’s very particular about a chair). The first half WOW’d me, but I got all pouty about the second half.
