The Beast: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward <— RHAGE IS BACK ON THE LIST ’cause Grey is FLIPPING OUT!!!!
Grey: *sobs*
Fabi: Grey – from The Beast??? no way
Grey: *Nods and sniffles incoherently* I need all the feels-healers for this one. I can say that there has been a whole lot of Brother Vishous so far who is my very favorite of all of the BDB…. So there is that. (I had to put kindle down and walk away.)
Tessa: *grabs Manny again and hands him to Grey* *puts up a blankie fort* It’s gotta be bad to have that reaction.
Grey: I love J.R. Ward, my 5 minute break is over, I drank my drink, I’ve got Manny and I’m in the blankie fort…I may or may not have a bottle or two of wine and chocolate with me, just in case LOL!
Jean: Wow, Grey’s reaction to The Beast is a little scary and upsetting. I gotta catch up on that series asap!
Amy: *peeks in on Grey in the blankie fort and gives thumbs up* Looks like you’re good to go. Man, all of that from The Beast?? I wish I wasn’t so far behind on the BDB series. 😕
Ela: I need to tackle the Beast, and now I’m kinda scared after reading Grey’s reactions!
Maryse: And…. I’m extra excited after reading Grey’s reactions. LOL! 😛
Dark Notes by Pam Godwin <— STUDENT-TEACHER ALERT and Donna is LOVING it and I’m planning on jumping into this one tonight. 😀
“Hi Maryse! I’m about 60% into Dark Notes by Pam Goodwin and I am loving it. Alpha and gritty and emotional!
Love the heroine and enjoying being inside both of their minds with the dual POV.”
- Sweetest Sin: A Forbidden Priest Romance by Sosie Frost <— TABOO ALERT and Cristina is reading it and enjoying it! She says:
Cristina: I randomly picked a book off my TBR list entitled, “Sweetest Sin” by Sosie Frost. So in honor of first line Thursday, here is the first line: “Forgive me, Father… We can’t do this anymore.” Oh yes! …I’m about 46% in and it’s pretty damn good! We’ll see.. I’m about to dive back in now!
Amy: Well damn, Cristina…I had to click that one immediately. Taboo, taboo, TABOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Jeanie: Ohhhhhh! Sweetest Sin was soooo good. It’s my fave guilty pleasure of 2016. I was shocked stupid but not because of the taboo nature of the story. The writing was really well done. And there were definitely a lot of “Whaaaaat????” “No!!!!” “Eeeep!” moments for sure.
Cristina: Yes Jeanie, Sweetest Sin is definitely packed with all kinds of those moments! I grew up Catholic, went to a Catholic school, went to Mass three times a week, went to weekly confession, etc., so I’m like “WHAAAAT?!” “EEK!!’” *gasps* This book is seriously taboo and ridiculously HOT! I’m 64% in and at the altar scene. EEK!! I haven’t been a practicing Catholic for quite some time now, and even I’m wanting to grab my Grandmother’s rosary and pray for them! I find myself wanting to creep into a corner to make sure no one is watching me read because it feels so forbidden! I’m thinking, “Can the Man upstairs see me reading this?” I feel like I could be smited! LOL… Thus far, this book has definitely been my guiltiest pleasure of 2016.
I just love it when I pick out a random book and it turns out to be AWESOME!! *twirls with Kindle in hand* *then ducks and prays, “Hail Mary…”*
- Bird Box: A Novel by by Josh Malerman <— GREAT HORROR STORY and Jean just found it for us on super-sale!! “Bird Box is on sale… today! Loved that book…. totally unforgettable!” AGREED!!! In fact, here’s my review!
- Easy Virtue by Mia Asher <— Melinda loved this “duet”!!
“I just finished last night Easy Virtue and then followed with Sweetest Venom (Virtue Series Book 2) by Mia Asher. Sooooo So So Good. best book this year has everything heaps of feeling and lots of Angst. Has a similar feel of Tristan and Danika. Especially through the second book. Keeps your emotions on tender hooks right until the end. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed. Book 1 is cliff hanger so lucky I didn’t start until book 2 came out.”
- The Sinners on Tour Boxed Set by Olivia Cunning <— Jean is hooked on this “oldie but goodie!” rock star series that set SO many of us off!
Jean: I am loving these rockstars! They are each so unique, not just in their personalities, but their sexuality. Loving this series! Can’t put it down!
MichelleS: I, too, loved the Sinners on Tour. It was my first ever Rock Star read – and it was also the first review I ever read of Maryse’s. LOL. Yup….
Maryse: MichelleS!!! #1 in the Sinners on Tour was my VERY FIRST contemporary romance read (and sort of indie, too). I was strictly paranormal for years, and needed a change, and that one was free, so I downloaded it, read it, FELT IT, freaked out and continued to devour one after the other in the “bad boy” genre (mostly all indie since that one).
Renee: Jean I read the first one after I’d read something Maryse said about it being explicitly jaw dropping (summarizing there). I’ll admit it, I was curious
My husband was a huge Dimebag fan, so he got a kick out of the dedication. I on the other hand struggled not to picture him as Brian! No thanks! I was surprised how much I liked it! Good to know you are enjoying the rest of them since I have the whole set. I usually don’t like series that leap from one protagonist to the next, but maybe I should give it a try!
Fabi: *throws hands up in defeat* I give in. I’m getting the boxed set of The Sinners on Tour series. It seems like everyone but me has read (and loved) them so I’m diving into 5 books at once on your recommendations. *wiggling with excitement* I want to start this series this weekend.
Jean: You’ll love the Sinners series. I have not gone through a series back to back like this for a long time and I’m loving it!
- The Runaway Family by Diney Costeloe <— ALONE WITH HER KIDS AGAINST THE NAZIS ALERT! “When Ruth Friedman’s husband is arrested by the SS, she is left to fend for herself and her four children. She alone stands as their shield against the Nazis…” Super-bargain priced today!
Broken Juliet (The Starcrossed Series) by Leisa Rayven <— SUPER-BARGAIN PRICED and SO many loved this “duet”
Jean: Just finished Broken Juliet…..sigh…..loved it more than Bad Romeo but both were great! I cried a lot in the 2nd book….so many feels!
Antonella: Totally agree with Bad Romeo/Broken Juliet by Leisa Rayven, the angst in that book was off the Richter scale and you just could not put the book down.
- Seven Years (Seven Series Book 1) by Dannika Dark <— MUCH LOVED SHIFTER SERIES! Jan130 recommends this series (and book #1 is super-bargain priced!!) She says: “Mmm. One Second (Seven Series Book 7) by Dannika Dark is out at last. Hooray. It’s tucked away in Paranormals at No. 12. Final book in the Seven series. A good strong well-written series if you like shifters/ werewolves. This series is an original take on werewolves, with interesting characters, some nice romance, some suspense and adventure. (Nice cover too …) I’m ready to jump back into that world right now with One Second. (Where’s my coffee and chocolate biccies?)”
And for AUDIOBOOK LVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free ebooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —>Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as AUDIOBOOKS AT AN AH-MAZING PRICE!<—
Audiobooks for ebook super-sale prices. I’m thrilled with that, and what’s fun is you can flip flop from reading it, to listening to it without losing your spot… This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL! (This is the “Whispersync” thingie).
- Existence by Abbi Glines <— Fabi is one of our audiobook enthusiasts, and she is loving this one! “Tessa, was it you who recommended Existence by Abbi Glines? I’m listening to it right now and I love it!”
- Fighting Silence: On the Ropes, Book 1 by Aly Martinez <— Fabi: “I’m reading/listening Fighting Silence by Aly Martinez right now and it is really great. It’s also a 3 book series but each is a stand alone with different characters.”
- The Lead Cloak: The Lattice Trilogy, Book 1 by Erik Hanberg <— Fabi is also enjoying this one! “The Lead Cloak by Erik Hanberg in Audible with a great narrator. It’s about a society that has developed a Internet of sorts that allows people to jump into others’ minds, past and present, and live vicariously through them. No privacy! Not even in thoughts.”
Naked in Death: In Death, Book 1 by J.D. Robb <— Belinda loves THIS series (actually it seems everyone who reads it, does!) “This is by far one the best series of books I have read. I started with the Kindle books and now have the Audio books. Anxiously await each new book, it’s like Christmas morning with each one. Have recommends this series to all my friends and family. Even have my husband hooked on this series. We love listening to them together. Makes “our time” more special.”

Law Man is excellent book…..but all Kristen Ashley’s books are great.
Maryse….just wanted you to know that “Stanton Series” is $4.99 for the box set of all three books, and free unlimited. I am 70% and they are awesome……give me some Stanton……it has everything angst, passion, suspense, hot, hot, hot…..great series for anybody that is uncertain.
I already read Stanton, yes to all you said. The Aussie talk through me a bit but good reading
YES!! I bought the bundled series and am well into book #1 so far. I like it! I hear it gets better and better. 😀
Thank you Lisa and Theresa!
Ohhhhhh!
Thank you Jeanie! Sure sound right up our forbidden-alley!! 😛
*throws hands up in defeat* I give in. I’m getting the boxed set of The Sinners on Tour series. It seems like everyone but me has read (and loved) them so I’m diving into 5 books at once on your recommendations. *wiggling with excitement* I want to start this series this weekend.
and for my new audible listen, I’m going to start Jan30’s recommendation, Seven Years. It sounds like it’s a complete series now and the books may read as stand alones anyway. I didn’t even check on the narrator before buying this one. lol I think I’m a little giddy with wanting to start new books this weekend.
I meant to read Stanton since I bought it last week. …maybe next
I’m going to finish up Reckless by Nicole Edwards which I picked up on sale yesterday, then I’m kicking off my weekend reads.
nobody better bother me this weekend, it’s going to be a pajama only party 🙂
I’m joining your read-a-thon pj party, Fabi!!!! YAY US!!!
Bird Box is on sale for 1.99 today! Loved that book…. totally unforgettable!
OMG YES!!! I loved that one!! Okay I’ll add it, ’cause it’s usually SO much more than that.
Yep, great price for it!
Fabi, you are a good girl! You’ll love the Sinners series. I have not gone through a series back to back like this for a long time and I’m loving it!
Yeaaa Maryse. PJ party weekend! Everyone grab a book and come on over.
Yes Jeanie, Sweetest Sin is definitely packed with all kinds of those moments! I grew up Catholic, went to a Catholic school, went to Mass three times a week, went to weekly confession, etc., so I’m like “WHAAAAT?!” “EEK!!'” *gasps* This book is seriously taboo and ridiculously HOT!
*twirls with Kindle in hand* *then ducks and prays, “Hail Mary…”* 😉
I have another recommendation for you guys! Actually it is two books by K.A. Sterritt. Collision and Impact. Impact released today and is the sequel to Collision. I love both of them!
Collission sounds good Eli. Does it end on a cliffhanger?
I’ve been on a Lauren Layne kick recently. Enjoyed all I’ve read so far (Blurred Lines, After the Kiss, Love the One You’re With and Just One Night). Taking a break to read the latest Sylvia Day. Feels like I’ve waited forever for it!
Fabi, PJ party?! I’m in!! I need to find a series to read! Will I get peanuts thrown at me if I admit I’ve never read the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning??? I’ve wanted to for so long, but the price of paranormal books keeps me from taking that plunge. I think I may bite the bullet and buy the first book tonight.
Absolutely Cristina, join the party. I know those books are pricey. I read them some years ago but got most of them from the library.
Christina – OMGeeeee!!! Yes, the altar scene!!!! Holy… I was like, noooooo!!! Please (yes keep going, no this is wrong) just go somewhere else!!! Lmao!!!
Cristina! You are too funny and I think you’ve got all of our attention with that book!
This Sin book you guys are talking about is freaking me out! I doubt I would be able to read such a taboo book…I had a hard time reading that book with Soren, never mind continue the series…
I need intervention and opinions and anything else… created spoiler thread for One With You:
https://talk.maryse.net/threads/one-with-you-by-sylvia-day.6107/
Maryse… what can we do about me not being able to do the whole talk thing. I’ve never been able to confirm my email *scratches head*
I need to reread this list… standby…
Fabi…..Collision does end in a cliffy but the sequel released today (Impact) so you don’t have to wait!
Okay, so yesterday I was reading a page of Bloodline and though, ooh, Fearless! Yep, the squirrel urge bit me. So I read the book insanely fast, not wanting to put it down. Now the series is over. I hope she writes another series. I’m happy how that one ended.
Now, back to Bloodlines. *one clicks Paper Princess*
What’s everyone talking about Sinners on Tour???? Bought last December guess I need to move it up, there are sooooo many company out and I’m still on the Beast.
LOL Tessa…..
Grey… did it end up in the spam or junk mail box?
Nope, I’ve checked… I don’t know, but It makes me so sad. I’ve been a good girl. *kinda* LOL!
I honestly have no idea what it could be. I’ll see if I can submit it for tech support…
Can you log in with a Facebook account?
Anything with Jamie in it is going to be a one-click for me – since we are married in another life, and all that – sooooooo – Virgins it is….
And since I’m already at amazon, I will pick up the second one on te list too, because that’s one of my all-time favorite series ever ever ever – Knights of the Black Swan – Journey Man. This is Glendennon Catch and Elora. So cool. And I am hoping for some scenes with Rammel Hawking (fanning self).
Still reading The Beast. Slowly devouring that one. (I love all the BDB stuff, but don’t like adding new people in the mix all the time….. UGH….). Rhage just held Wrath’s baby (oh gosh, that’s not a spoiler I hope for anyone?) – anyway, it melted me – just melted me.
Jamie, Ram and Rhage all in the same post. My ovaries just exploded. 🙂
Ela, it’s so taboo to me because I grew up Catholic. I had all that tradition engrained in me by the tender age of 5, so reading books that involve Priests just carry that extra forbiddeness to me. It may not be so much for others. It’s a really good book though! I’ll have it finished tonight. 😉
Just want to let you know “Manatee” was an answer on Jeopardy Tuesday (I’m a little behind) and I looked like a total idiot in front of my family when I started cheering and yelling “Manny!”
NEWS FLASH. Kresley Cole today only has the first 2 books in her Game Maker series for 1.99 each. If you have not read – it is steaaaammmmmyyyyyy
Cristina I love your description of your reading of Sweetest Sin. You guys are hilarious. Reading the comments always makes me smile (as well as giving me great books recs).
Moning’s Fever series is well worth the read, BTW, although yeah, a bit pricey. The library may be a good option. I have to say, though, I thought the quality of the series deteriorated as it went on. Started off really great – interesting, original, powerful. But maybe Ms Moning was a victim of her own success, and in her aim to please readers and stretch out the storyline, IMO it got stretched a tad too far in the later books. I started to lose interest in the later books. When you’re reading a fantasy series and you start yawning and thinking yeah, whatever, what else is on my TBR? I’m hanging off on reading Iced (#6 in series), even though I bought it. Pretty mixed reviews for that one.
Girls, enjoy the Sinners on Tour. You’re in for a hot and saucy ride. Hang on!
Love anything Outlander. The 2nd season of the tv show starts tomorrow.
https://www.starz.com/series/outlander/featured
One-clicking Sinners series- I did listen to book 1, previously.
Collision and Impact sound good too.
Also, have to one-click Sugar Rush.
Yeh, PJ’s and reading, especially since supposed to snow here tomorrow.
Jan – those are all my exact thoughts on The Fever Series… Seriously… But I loved Iced (avoided it forever)… So if I were you, I’d pick it up. I think you’ll be surprised. Now Burned… Argh…. No comment… And Feverborn… Argh….
K thanks Michelle. Good to know I’m not the lone voice in the wilderness. You know, when you see a ton of 5 star reviews for books you thought were ‘meh’? You think, is it just me?
I’m on a bit of a shifters kick at the moment, but Iced is just sitting there waiting so I guess I’ll have to move it back up my list.
I’m reading Dark Notes (that recent student-teacher romance – or… whatever it might end up being) and OMG it is DARK from the start.
She goes to a privileged school for the arts, but her home life is far from that. My goodness… and yet the writing is SO good. I sampled and now I just one-clicked and am reading it for good! I’m nervous.
LOL Renee!!!
I’m always so proud of us and our Manny! We have the COOLEST stuffed snuggly-animal EVER!
Maryse, does anyone have a pic? Not to sound judgmental, but the picture you guys showed earlier of Manny in the Keys wasn’t his best look… all slimy and stuff.
Maryse, dark you say?! Eek! One-click!!
Just finished Isla and the Happily Ever After, that was really good. I haven’t read Maryse’s review yet but I’m thinking PP next.
It’s his best side. He just watched Sherlock.
https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS4TrTZCDVwjfoTiS7_jgYrNQ8VKRoTbVshvaIUOyM8FBc6041K0w
PJ party!!! I’m SO in. 😉
Wait, wait, wait…Dark Notes is a student-teacher book and dark? Ah hell. *click* I’m actually REALLY in the mood for taboo so it’s either DN or Sweetest Sin, especially after Cristina’s mini-review. Between that and Maryse’s comment on DN, I’m torn. (Tessa, I still have NOLA pulled up on my Kindle app and will get back to it soon…promise!)
Renee, that is hilarious…did I ever tell you guys that my hubby calls y’all my “manatee friends”? LOL!
Jean, is the Sinners on Tour series the same Sinners series that you all have been on me to read? The one that starts with The Siren (I think)?
OMG that manatee picture is adorable!!!!!!!!
Amy, I think this is the one you’re asking about https://www.amazon.com/Sinners-Tour-Boxed-Set-ebook/dp/B00CEL37PS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460163749&sr=8-1&keywords=sinners+on+tour
I read the first one. I need ice cubes and a cool drink just thinking about it. I’m not usually phased by erotic romance anymore, but my jaw dropped a few times!
Michelle somehow I’ve missed out on Knights of the Black Swan. The series hasn’t come my way before, but I see book 1 The Familiar Stranger is free at the moment * clicks * (Yeh, I know I’m reading shifters at the mo but it’s free….) I’m not usually a massive vampire fan. (Sorry) * hides behind Kindle under a rain of peanuts * but it looks pretty darn sweet. And I didn’t really mind the vampires in Mercy Thompson, so I’m keeping an open mind….
Are all of the books worth reading and should they be read in series order?
Meet “Manny” our stuffed Manatee mascot:
Amy… can you confirm?
Or is this one closer?
Renee… especially that LAST steamy scene.
OH. EM. GEE.
*scorched*
bev he’s darn cute there! I’m glad he likes Sherlock. LOL!!!!!!
Maryse! yes, he’s super cute! much better 🙂
OMG…I can go on record and say I’ve NEVER read a scene like that before! Whoa… *fans self*
Whoa!!
In that second pic Manny is having a baby.
Now that is a twisty mind [email protected].
Oh, he loved it.
Amy, have you watched Sherlock?
LOL bev!!!! That’s his little brother. 😉
Uh, nope. That’s one of those disturbing stuffed animals. My niece wants the “puppy” one. *shudders*
Sinners on Tour is off the charts steamy. I love that it has a great backstory that doesn’t get old or dated. Erm, steam though. Trey. 0.0 I can just see him standing there, stripping *spoiler* with his eyes while he sucks on his lollipop. And that’s before he gets down to business. *fans self*
NOW I CAN’T LOOK AT MANNY THE SAME WAY AGAIN! *cries dramatically*
Wait.
Is it really having a baby?
And it looks like a dolphin baby.
Now that’s how you do a cliff hanger.
Hmmmm…Manny doesn’t have blue eyes, so the second one is a bit closer to what he looks like.
And he is NOT having a baby. Someone toss Tessa the mind bleach STAT!
OOH! Here he is…

Nope Bev, I haven’t watched it yet. Have you finished In the Fields yet? (That WAS the one you were supposed to read, right?)
Oh, poor Tessa.
*sigh*
Maryse should not have done that to you. I know how she could make it up to you.
Hey I read 32% of it so far. So you could watch 32% of Sherlock.
Bet you can’t stop.
Ok, dinner then PP.
And yes I get how that sounds, lol.
Amy – no, Sinners on Tour is about a rock band, each book is a different member. Original Sinners is a series that is crazy good erotica at its finest with great writing & great characters & LOTS of taboos!!!! Loved both series for different reasons & moods.
“…dinner then PP” <—— *snorrrrrrrrrt* You enjoy that PP, Bev. 😛
MichelleS…sooooo, you're saying they're both great? SCORE!!!
Holy moly, this plum wine is AMAZING!!! First drink I've had all week and hot damn it's hitting me fast!! WOoOO-HOOOOO!!!!!
Oh hell. Stop with the PP… didn’t I tell you we could not abbreviate Paper Princess it wasn’t allowed! *stomps feet* This, *draws line in the sand* is a PP free zone, just like it is also a manatee free gif zone, I’m not clicking on any of those links btw… *nope, not this girl.* nuh uh, no way, not happening…
sh*t… I really wanna look…. it’s gonna hurt, isn’t it Tessa?
*slides plum wine to Grey*
It’s a wine kind of night! I’ve been having a wine party on Twitter since early…
*silences self, pretends wine party just started a few minutes ago*
Amy, keeps with the plum wine she is going to need PP.
C’mon Amy. Read it.
Mmm, never had this before. *giggle* Thanks Amy!
I’m going to tuck in with The Beast. Wow, that just sounds… awesome. I’d like to thank J.R. Ward for making all of my posts sound pornographic for the next … I don’t know… however long it takes me… *eyebrow waggle-snort* see there I go again.
I want to read Beast so bad but I’m terrified! Rhage is my favorite and I don’t want to see him suffer (though I bet he looks good all angsty teehee). I think I’ll build a blankie fort for myself this weekend and read. I’ll make my pup stay with me in case I need a hug
YEAH Renee!! Wait…what’s a wine party on Twitter?
*scratches head* What am I supposed to be reading, Bev?
Lanie…just hop in bed with Grey and The Beast! If it gets too crowded in there you can always make a run for the blankie fort. And here’s some liquid courage for ya… *slides plum wine to Lanie* 😉
Amy, lots of stalking, a bit of lurking, and DM’ing like its 1994 (instant messaging for old people). @robinhillwrites if you tweet 🙂
Tessa, I’m dying to get to Trey’s book. I’m almost done Hot Ticket with Jace which is waaayyy different! Backstage Pass is my fav so far and it was really HOT! And yes, I admit that while I normally skip some of the boring sex scenes in books, these scenes are NOT boring…..so no skipping for me! Olivia Cunning sure knows how to write it good! Lol!
I loved the stuffed Manny btw….not scary. I actually pet one in the Keys and they are really not that cute…. (don’t yell at me)!
They are. I love that the stories are just as good as the steam. You don’t want to skip any of it. I did a little with Jace, but that was his kink, not the writing at all.
Amy, PP.
Jean, he is having a dolphin baby. Who is writing his stort, R. Lee Smith?
So……have you watched Sherlock?
Ummm no bev. Sorry.
Tessa, yes, some of Jace’s scenes are like a train wreck….you can’t look away!
Finished After I Do and loved it; loved Forever, Interrupted a smidge more just for the last little bit and that ending but her writing is inspired! Still trying to finish Dirty Red and Avoiding Responsibility…miniscule reading time during the week 🙁
Excited about Outlander, both new book and season. Hope the show keeps up the momentum!
Some good FREEBIES today that I do not think the fabulous Amy has posted 😉
Bang by EK Blair
Something for the Pain by Victoria Ashley
Point of Return by Stacey Lynn
Indulge by EB Walters
Coming in From the Cold by Sabrina Bowen
True Love Way by Mary Elizabeth
Fix You by Christine Bell
Finished “Sweetest Sin” tonight. Perfect ending to a really great story! I can hang my Grandmother’s rosary up! Redemption has been found! I’m so happy I got to read this hidden treasure. Beautifully written. I would only add that the story could have been written into two books. While the book is satisfying enough by itself, I would like to have witnessed the first part of their journey. The story comes to us after their friendship and feelings have already developed, but neither have acted upon them or confronted each other about them. I wish I could’ve been there for that part, yet somehow I don’t feel shorted. The author did a fantastic job giving us everything we need to become entranced with these two and their forbidden story! Loved it!! 🙂
Michelle, I know people say Maybe in Another Life isn’t as good as the other 2 by TJR, but I LOVED it. I love them all. Definitely my favorite writer. If you loved both of those, I’m sure you’ll like it.
So funny- Manny pics, PP, Sinners on Tour and wine. Not as pornographic as the Beast Grey, but it makes me giggle-snort!
Bev, I have watched Sherlock. Have you watched Orphan Black or Daredevil?
Just finished One With You. I’m ok with the ending because ultimately I was ready for it to end. Would I have liked to have more to the epilogue? Maybe.
Now to sleep and then decide on my next read…in my pj’s!
Jan130, I really enjoyed Knights Of The Black Swan series by Victoria Danann. I’ve just seen on this list #9 is out – eeeek!! I’ve only read the first 4!! I look forward to thoughts on My a Familiar Stranger, enjoy!
Ladies…ya’ll are hilarious! Playing catch up since I have been in a Gideon fog *fans self*. There is NOTHING better than a hottie alpha, a little broken but oh so possessive! Needless to say I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED One with You! Also, nothing better than seeing Eva finally come into her own, strong and fierce with her love.
The last two books in this series were definitely a 4.5 to 5 star for me.
Who knew that March 30th was Manatee Appreciation day?!?!?!
Around here everyday is manatee appreciation day. If it’s not one book it’s another, but there is always someone needing that snuggle.
Cheryl, I haven’t I will have to check them out. I think I’ve seen good things about Orphan Black.
I hope that Ella just found a friend.
“The asshole is gone. Besides, you’re probably the most attractive and decent thing he’s seen tonight.”
Aah. I love that.
*derailed* reading plans are all over the place 🙁 even though it’s a good problem to have (and I’m still refusing to change out of my PJs).
I have an ARC from Caethes Faron. Her Measure of Devotion series is one of my all time favorites. Her newer In Distress book is a five star. Those were mm books. Her new one, Magic Born, releasing next Tues., is a new adult urban fantasy. It’s completely different than what I’ve read from her before. I’m so excited to read something so different from her. I’m expecting her signature, tummy twisting angst in a brand new setting.
Gah! My GBL and RN lists are starting to need a numbered format.
Tessa, have you read PP?
It just seems right up your reading alley.
I will right after Bloodlines. I’m resisting reading any more of Maryse’s review since just the quick ooooh at the beginning had me one clicking it. 😀
It’s nine am and I so want to just go back to sleep.
Done. It had some problems for me but definitely want to know what happens next.
I just hope that the CH doesn’t resolve too quickly.
Even would like it if sometime goes by before it even starts to be resolved.
agreed bev. I want it to …. do it’s thing, good and long like it did that CH so the CH can be taken seriously, ya know? 😉
I mean… if, as an author, you’re going there, and you’re doing that kind of CH, make it worth it. Tee hee!!! 😛
Lol. Just posting about on review too. So has me thinking. But, yes. Make it a sea change.
Ever since that Beck album I’ve loved that expression.
Off to do some online shopping then decide what is next.
Fabi, I’ve completely blown any tbr I’ve had going.
See, both of your reactions are why I don’t go into hate mode with CH. It can be the catalyst of some major story and angst. Especially the ones that have you twisting and turning. Those are the ones you can go back to a year later, read a few pages, and remember everything. I did that with Breaking Him/ Her. I read a few pages and poof, remembered it all and my stomach began twisting.
The Beast- I so do not remember Bitty and her mother and father. Was it in last book???? Help
I’m reading a sample of a book whose cover grabbed my attention. This part made me snort-laugh:
“Some of us haven’t made it yet, which, by the way, is why I thought I was being called in from Houston to be in this meeting, but clearly it was to play sit and spin on my thumbs as they tickle my ass waiting for you.”
Men & Women Can’t Be Friends: A Novel by Elle Kelly. No idea if it’s going to be my next read yet. Starting somewhat slow, but liking this part.
Yeah I don’t seem to have strong feelings about them. I think like Fabi pointed out they became popular with ebooks, especially self published ones. And probably too popular.
Like Maryse pointed out if you do them make it worth it. Not solved by the first chapter of the next book. Then it could of been one book.
When it does really annoy me is when it is a book I didn’t really like cause I don’t even get the satisfaction of having it all tied up.
Bev, the cheap CH is something I hate, because the only word is pointless. It seems more of a drive to make you buy a book than to actually tell a decent story. I’ve actually stopped reading books because of it. That’s right up there with the “tragedy prologue”. You know, this sad thing is going to happen and I want to suck you in by spoiling it or making it sound worse than it is” prologue. *grumbles*
I can’t believe I can’t figure this out and I’ll probably kick myself but what is CH? And changed my handle since there’s another Renee 🙂
cliff hanger. 😉
“Around here everyday is manatee appreciation day.” <—– LOL Fabi!! I love that you guys adore Manny like I do. 😉
Tessa, I'm SO with you on the tragedy prologue. It dampens the fun of getting a gut kick and being blindsided.
You guys!!! I'm LOVING Dark Notes!! Her life just flat-out sucks, and my tummy is clenching for her and what she is up against. She may be in high school but this is no YA read.
OMG OMG OMG AMY!
We’re buddy reading. I’m halfway through Dark Notes and loving it!!!!!
YES!!! I told Kandace it’s dark… and said:
Student teacher, but she’s severely abused at home… and OMG so not innocent. So it doesn’t make her age thing too creepy since she needs all the help she can get. and I don’t mean “not innocent” by way of her being a conniving character…
I mean, she’s seen things and had to do things to stay alive. You really feel for her. It’s incredible.
Duh. Thanks Maryse.
I’m about half way through Dark Notes and LOVING it! Started this morning and can’t put it down. Definitely some dark tones. I feel for everything that she’s been through and going through to survive! I just passed the parking lot scene when all hell breaks loose! I literally gasped out loud and put my hand over my mouth. OMG!!!
“Yes, Mr. Marceaux.” Makes me squirm. 😉
Dang it! Ya’ll are de-railing all my plans with all the “OMG-ing” over Dark Notes. Aaaaaand it’s that forbidden student-teacher thing I love so much. Shoot. Adding it the list….
LOL!!!!!!!
It’s a good time for those that like truly risqué forbiddens…
*GASP!!!*
MARYSE!! We’re buddy reading Dark Notes…and at THE SAME TIME?!? It finally happened again! 😛
*drags Maryse into the taboo-readin’ blankie fort*
I have plum wine leftover from last night, plus cherry vanilla martinis for after we run out of the wine. Oh!! Cristina is reading it too…and now MichelleS wants to read it. Now it’s a party!!! 😀
And I agree, she is not a conniving character…the poor girl is just trying to survive while dealing with the sh!t hand she was given. My heart just HURTS for her.
I’m loving the writing style as well. Even though it’s in dual POV, I’m feeling the feels BIG TIME! And y’all know how much I struggle with getting dual-POV feels at times. Not with this one though!!
Heck, I may just attempt Paper Princess after this…CH and all. 😉
I want to come into the taboo-reading blankie fort! And wine?! And martinis? Amy, you are a Goddess!! It’s definitely a party! We need desserts!! It’s so cool that we’re all reading the same book! 🙂
*pulls Cristina into blankie fort*
We’re having s’mores brownies for dessert!! 😀
I love buddy reads. *giggle*
And thank you to the fabulous MICHELLE for filling in for me yesterday with the freebies. 😉

*sniff*
Uh oh, why are you sniffling Bev?
OMG Plums, cherry and alcoholic beverages. Blankie fort and taboo risque reads amongst friends!!
YES PLEASE!!!
Aw Bev, does someone need a snuggle? Maybe a manatee snuggle?
What’s wrong??
*licks all the s’mores brownies as if they were book-boyfriends*
Tee hee!! 😛
*chagrined-faced*
Sorry guys… I got gluttonous…
And don’t forget Maryse…in our PJ’s ’cause Fabi made it a PJ party weekend! 😀
Dark Notes you say… hmmm… a buddy read you say??
*licks all the s’mores brownies as if they were book-boyfriends* <—LOL!!!
Is Emeric gettin' you all worked up, my dear? 😛
But… It’s the Outlander Premiere night… Can we start this buddy read… in say… an hour and 2 minutes???
Join us Grey!!! Dark Notes is simply GREAT.
And we have all kinds of food and drink goodies in the taboo-readin’ blankie fort. 😉
No, I just felt like joining in. But Maryse is licking things so I am edging my way on out of this fort. Have fun.
DVR Grey…D. V. R.
Don’t make me put hands on you and pull you back in, Bev…
Emeric is SO bossy and makes me feel like being bratty!
Grey! You bet! We’ll still be here taste-testing treats and drinks and Emeric.
Er…
Well… you know. 😉
*gasp* bev!!!!!
*pulls out fresh new tray of brownies*
Looked what I baked!! No licking from me, I promise!
*re-licks the old tray*
Mmmmmmm, Emeric is yummmmmyyyyyy…
*rushes in with handy lysol wipes*
*breatless* I heard Maryse is licking all the BBFs…
Oh one more, lol.
Ol 55 by Tom Waits
LOL Fabi…
LIKE BBFs not actual BBFs.
*snorts while giggling over Fabi’s overzealous rub-downs*
*looks up Tom Waits*
Ok, I’m back. Outlander was so good!!! Alright! so Dark Notes, I’m ready!
oops, I got a little excited about helping out
*goes back to grumbling about missing out on the group Lll…rrr…eading*
Oh, my heart. I feel like crying for Ivory right now. It’s all just so freaking unfair. 🙁
Wait. Her name is Ivory and she plays the piano?
I just started Once Upon a Rose by Laura Florand. I just stopped in the middle of the meet cute because it is a seriously cute meet cute.
I’m not sure how the rest will be, only on page 9, but somebody should read the sample just to read the meet cute.
Tessa, her dad was a “locally famous” jazz piano player in New Orleans… so he named her Ivory. 😉
bev, I LOVE cute “meet cutes”!! Okay I’m gonna sample it!
Tessa, lol. I wonder if the hero tickles her?
Okay, that at least makes sense. I really had to question that one.
Okay, Bloodlines. It’s good but reading time has been less than average so I’m still reading it. Can so,done on Goodreads send me a message to tell me what Rose did to Adrian. It’s been years, literally, and I don’t remember that detail.
I’ll send you a message here shortly, Tessa. 😉
Renee, I’m absolutely reading Maybe in Another Life. Hopefully I do not put it off as long as After I Do..sometimes I really kick myself!
The first Outlander episode was awesome…the guy who plays Frank, his scenes were WOW! I always wanted to read about more of the reunion between Frank and Claire and getting that straight off was perfect for me 😀
Random question, what’s the best romance (paranormal, contemporary, fantasy, scifi, historical – I read them all) that you’ve listened to on audiobook? I have two credits burning a hole in my digital pocket…
Michelle do it! Put it at the top of your list. You won’t be disappointed!
Michelle do it! Put it at the top of your list. You won’t be disappointed!
Sorry for the duplicate post! I’ll figure this out one day 🙂
Michelle, I’ll look through my Audible library and get you my top five star listens. But, right off the top of my head, Lover at Last was a huge favorite of mine. But, you have to have followed the series to get the full impact, even though it’s a stand alone novel inside the series.
I’ll come back with a short list.
Renee, I know I could not possibly be disappointed. Even if I disliked a story, her writing would carry my interest alone!
Fabi, I got the reduced price for the next three months for audible like you said. I have been listening more than reading with my schedule so it may be worth the investment. I’m on book 9 but I really REALLY want to catch up with the series! I would love any suggestions as always 😀
OK Michelle. This was harder than I thought it would be. First because I couldn’t sort by rating on Audible.com but second and most importantly, a lot of my 5*s were part of a series. I tried not to include any more of those. Then…I ran into the fact that you’ve probably already read all my 5* romance books, so I threw in some that were outside the romance genre for you to look at.
*shrug* here’s my list and I’m sticking to it. lol
Caine’s Reckoning: Hell’s Eight Series, Book 1 by Sarah McCarty
4* story, 5* narration
The Second Ship: The Rho Agenda, Book 1, by Richard Phillips
5* story, 5* narration (not sure it has any romance :-/)
Dangerous Highlander: Dark Sword, Book 1 by Donna Grant
5* story, 5* narration
Soulless: An Alexia Tarabotti Novel by Gail Carriger
5* story, 5* narration (good, funny and cute)
Desired by Nicola Cornick
5* story, 5* narration (historical romance NOT a debutante)
The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett
5* story, 5* narration (holly crap this fantasy series is good, but only a slight nod to romance in this first book)
WWW: Wake by by Robert J. Sawyer
5* story, 5* narration (amazeballs, no romance, but favorite author with a wild ride of a story)
Halfway to the Grave: Night Huntress, Book 1 by Jeaniene Frost
5* story, 5* narration (Bones…)
Daemon by Daniel Suarez
5* story, 5* narration (possibly the best technothriller I’ve ever read)
Terminal Freeze by Lincoln Child
5* story, 5* narration (horror, thriller)
Hominids: The Neanderthal Parallax, Book 1, by By Robert J. Sawyer
5* story, 5* narration (the strangest, most unique romance I’ve ever read, all-time favorites list)
Finally, for whatever it’s worth, my top 3 wish list items on audible are:
1. The Beast by Sherrilyn Kenyon (getting this one on the 18th because I have to listen to this narrater – he’s simple the voice of the BDB for me)
2. Seveneves by Neal Stephenson (because I can’t believe I’ve waiting this long to read this one)
3. Blood Destiny by Tessa Dawn
By the way, everything on audible is on a half-price sale until the 18th of this month!
good thing Maryse doesn’t have a character limit on here – tehehee
Whoa…
*snort*
Haha it took me a minute to read and process all that awesomeness! And now I can’t decide because those all look reallllllyyyy good…maybe because I’ve heard you rav about them both multiple times, either The Warded Man or Hominids…
Both are wonderfully weird. The Warded Man starts with the characters at a young age. They grow up throughout the series. The Hominids characters are adult at the outset. Both series are entirely unique.
Ok it’s The Warded Man and it’s an expensive book normally so good use of a credit. Yey thank you Fabi! Now I’m excited to start it on the way to work!
My pleasure. I love that you’re as adventurous as I am in your reading. My most recent 5*+s were from the Red Rising trilogy so I figured there was no sense in mentioning those. 😉
No. Actually I’m going to clean the house a little and justify listening now.
I like this guy’s voice already…ok back to semi-productivity. I love getting recs from you for just that reason 😉
You definitely got the hang of those Audible credits. I use mine on the expensive books and fill in during the month with the $1.99 whyspersync ones on my Kindle tbr.
If I remember correctly, I think they’ll offer you one more reduced rate period after the initial one. I’m not 100% sure because when I did it some years ago I had the highest monthly subscription book number because I was commuting such long distances. It was way better than listening my constantly off key singing. Ha!
Tom Hiddleston is the BEST voice I’ve EVER heard from a narrator. Too bad he did so few of them before he became a hot shot actor. You should listen to a sample. *swoon*
Michelle if it is sale & credits again try a sample of Simon vs the HomoSapiens Agenda.
I love music or podcasts for commutes, walking, cleaning, etc. Just can’t seem to get into audio. Well, except David Sedaris.
Hey,……Mayse, Amy, Jean, Fabi you know who else has a great voice?
No, I will give you guys a break.
Time to get out of my pajamas and do some work. *sigh*
Michelle, I read Warded Man and really loved it. I can’t wait to see what you think.
She’s going to have a squeaky clean house because she want to stop listening. lol
I didn’t know or didn’t remember you’d read it Tessa. Kewl.
*won’t* want to stop
Well no surprise here. Fabi loves it. Tessa loves it. Yep, I love it. Sooooo good and addicted pretty much from go! I did do more cleaning than planned to keep listening which is always a good thing 😉
Bev, Simon is $8.97 which is not a bad price. I won’t use my last credit but I’m considering just buying it. I should stock up on a few while prices are cheaper.
Fabi, I still need to read 3 but I read the first due to your recommendation.
Michelle, I’m glad you like it. It’s old fashion fantasy, but in a good way. I love the MC. He’s the most relatable of the chars to me.
What a day. Went with my oldest for Accepted day at college. So bittersweet!!
Grey & Michelle- I agree loved the Outlander episode last night.
Debated jumping on the buddy read of Dark Notes or starting stuck Up Suit. Not a bad dilemma to have. 😉
Cheryl, you must be so proud.
Just found this and can’t remember if you have posted it already Maryse.
New book coming from my fav author and it’s a sports romance!! *thud*
https://www.amazon.com/Moonshot-Alessandra-Torre/dp/1940941784/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1460330907&sr=8-6&keywords=moonshot
I’ve been wondering all day where our fort dwellers have gotten off to. All of them reading forbidden dark stories and then disappearing makes me nervous.
Stuck up Suit and now Moonshot are calling my name, but the best I can do for them is put them on my tbr. :-(((
Oh good. Moonshot gives me a few months to prepare. I need to read more and talk less. 😉
Fabi and Tessa, this book is fantastic….FANTASTIC! I might not be able to restrain myself from going right to the next one. Unique plot, writing on point, characters well developed – has a Brandon Sanderson feel which means Brett is another auto buy 😀
I know. What did they get up to. Maybe the decided to fly to RT in Vegas.
I can see them stumbling around drunk on plum wine. Amy clutching Manny and Maryse with a ring of chocolate around her mouth.
Trying to lick cover models in the name of Fabi!
I have to admit, I haven’t read Brandon Sanderson yet. I only know him from finishing Whwel of Time. (I never did finish reading that series. I just got too confused.)
RT sounds fun, especially if it involves licking cover models.
Right Tessa? I wasnt planning on going but I hate the thought of other people doing my work for me. 😉
Michelle *hugey hug* I’m so glad you like it.
You know I’ve heard it can be kind of upsetting how handsy the women can get at some conventions.
I promise to keep my hands behind my back. 😉
I don’t think that’s the body part we are worried about.
I think my favorite part of the day has become coming in late on you girls’ conversations *gasps, chokes on wine* 😉
lol R. We’re just so glad you joined us. *sneaks a sip of R’s wine*
*passes Fabi a curly straw* I know where you live. Sip? Please. I’m on to you.
You know, my luck is I’d get that one guy with the beard that’s on a billion covers grabbing his hair. Handsome but bleh! He keeps grabbing his hair!
I can just see him stop to talk to our ladies. Grabbing his hair as they gaze up at him in a drunken daze whispering amongst them self if this is the one Tessa & MichelleS always rant about.
No. Grey no don’t grab his hair.
Bev, I am. It certainly puts in perspective all he has accomplished to get to this point. He even got accepted into the Honors college. *his comment- huh, more work*
That’s awesome Cheryl. He must have worked hard to get there. Is it far from home?
“curly straw”. haaaa
Y’all go ahead and put me in the group with Tessa and MichelleS. That particular model doesn’t do it for me. When he started popping up on every single cover, I couldn’t believe it. The single one I didn’t like was all of a sudden everywhere. The fates were against me. :-/
Cheryl, that is such a bittersweet time with our kids. I think I’m sending you both, a congrats and a hug.
Oh, wow, Cheryl. That is great. And yes. Probably a lot more work, lol.
*steathily sneaks away Renee’s wine with curly straw* It’s not plum but it’ll do!
Cheryl!!! Congrats on your son’s great achievement!! What a proud mama you must be right now. Obviously you did a good job of raising him. 😉
Amy, what is plum? Is it like Asian plum wine? Sweet? I get a $3 wine here (just call me fancy pants) and it has a plum aftertaste, but it’s not really sweet so much as fruity.
OMG Bev… *snorrrrrrrt!!* You always come up with the most hilarious scenarios. And Fabi…fort dwellers? LOL!!!!
No, I’m not going to RT. Like I said before, I cancelled my plane and hotel reservations because of possibly closing and moving that (this coming) weekend. I COULD have re-booked with the plane tickets being twice as much, and no telling how much a room would cost me at this point, but after the horrid time we had moving and how badly hubby and I were getting into it for days, I decided a weekend away together would be better for us than me taking off to Vegas…even if I was looking forward to it all year. 😕 Sooooo, I booked us a weekend at a bed-and-breakfast (in the honeymoon suite!!) in this adorable Dutch-themed town. I said it last year and I’ll say it again this year…there’s always next year!!! 😀
Renee…it should have said plum WINE. And yes, it’s an Asian plum wine that is freaking AMAZING and sweet and kicks in quickly.
A $3 wine, you say? Hey, wine is wine around here! 😛
Yep $3 It’s called Cul de Sac and it’s the merlot that tastes like plum, but I’ve had to stop drinking it, now that i’m hooked on Bordeaux, it’s too sweet for me. I like tongue curling dry. Hmmm…I probably shouldn’t say “tongue curling” on this blog.
Bahahahahaha!!!! Renee said “tongue curling”!!!! 😛
*waves to Amy* that sounds like a wonderful weekend getaway. I don’t think you’re going to miss RT (much). 😉
R. you’re bringing out Amy’s 10 y.o. boy alter ego again
(y’all have to call her R or R. Renee ’cause there’s two Renees here). I KNOW I thought it was the same person.
Is there a Robin? I thought I saw one once. I have no identity :'(
Ha! 10 yr old boy humor is the best. I just had a male erotic writer send me a sex scene to revisit (beta) and OMG. I giggled a bunch. Then I took a shower. Did I type that out loud?
hahaha is your feedback going to say the scene was “cold shower inducing?”
He knows lol. When he first approached me to beta I turned him down because I’ve read male romances before and wasn’t impressed. Then he got me with my own favorites list and Sylvain Reynard, so I caved. Holy crap. BEST sex scenes for me. Hot, but not crude. Even a little BDSM and I usually don’t like that!
Well hell, you’re going to have to let me know when he publishes. I’m not a fan of the BDSM books either but occasionally a scene is written so well it doesn’t matter.
Will do! I hope he hurries! I love seeing books I back do well! It doesn’t happen often, but I think his will.
Dont know if anyone as already posted this but Katy Evans (Remington Tate Katy Evans!!) has a new release for April 26….Ladies Man. Book 3 in Manwhore series. Hoping its about Saints ‘player’ friend.
Thanks for all the congrats; he is a great kid!!
Amy, that sounds like a wonderful weekend plan with the hubby. Moving is such a stress on a marriage.
R.Renee you have me intrigued with the male writer romance too.
Yep Cheryl! Different perspective that’s for sure! Some people get up in the morning and have a cup of coffee, not me. I got up this morning and re-read that sex scene and now I’m ready to face the week! LOL
You guys, I am loving Stuck Up Suit! And that cover model…..hello!!!! You guys have to do a Google image search…..Dusan Susnjar! I’m in love!
