Lily’s Bite of News

Hey guys! It’s me Lily. The maker was under the weather and like a helpful progeny I tried to bring her some chicken blood soup to help her feel better but you should have seen the look she gave me! BAD IDEA. So I told her all the juicy gossip I have sniffed out online and figured I share with ya’ll too.
 
First up is the new news about Cat and Bones I came across. Per Jeanine Frost on her blog:

I am thrilled to announce that I will be writing two more novels for the Night Huntress series, ending Cat and Bones’s storyline now at book nine instead of seven. AND, if that wasn’t enough to make my day, I am also contracted to write the first two books in a new series featuring – you guessed it – Vlad as the hero and a new character named Leila as the heroine.
 
Right now the tentative plan is for the first Vlad and Leila novel to release in 2012. 2011 will see the releases of the fifth Cat and Bones novel titled This Side of the Grave, Cat and Bones 6 (untitled as of now), and the holiday-themed anthology I’ll be in with Lynsay Sands that will also feature and Cat and Bones story (untitled as of now). My publisher and I are not sure if Vlad’s new stories will be called Night Huntress World, or something else since it’s the start of a new recurring-character series. More data on that once I have it.

Enter total Fangirl squeeing here! I really fell for Vlad in the last Cat and Bones and really found myself rooting for him in general. When we were introduced to him I just loved that he didn’t want to kill Bones per se but there was rival tension and he was not kissing his ass. Vlad was a bad ass I like that. (I know I just forfeited my feminism card over that too) One of my personally fave scenes with them are this one:

“Get stuffed, don’t you have more publicity stunts to pull?” Bones shot back. “How about chatting with another writer who can smear your name into greater popularity?”
“What, did Anne Rice not return your calls, mate?” Vlad asked scathingly. “Jealousy is such an ugly trait.”

Hehehe, that was a good burn.
Also can I vote for the spinoff’s to be called “The Burn Series” unless that Night Huntress heifer is up in his grill he needs own series name.

Next up we have some Vampire Academy news, and who doesn’t love the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead yet? Seriously? If you have not read it this is an amazing YA series. Richelle Mead and Charlaine Harris had a chat for Amazon and in it discussed things like:

In “Last Sacrifice” (the FINAL Vampire Academy book) Rose (the lead) will be visiting the South and won’t like it at the start but will warm up to us Mason-Dixon deficient dwellers. She goes on to say she is going resolve the Dimitri/Adrian/Rose triangle and not everyone is going to be happy with the ending cause everyone can’t win. This is where I add that I will be happy as long as Rose and Dimitri end up together. I fell a little for Adrian in the last book, but I spent 3, count them 3 books waiting, hoping for him to finally give in and if that is taken away from me AGAIN, there shall be hell to pay. I loved Dimitri the good boy, and I even sorta liked the evil Dimitri but I can’t deal with whiny Dimitri. Get him and Rose back together STAT. And by the way, I really really would like to see more of Rose’s father in this book, he was so charming in the last one.
 
Also in that same interview we get news of new Sookie books coming out (and seriously Amazon make sure you spell check, it’s “Sookie” not “Stookie”, I guess we should be glad it wasn’t “Snookie” but that would have been too funny….could you imagine a Jersey Shore Vampire? Would that be not be hysterical? “Gym. Tan. Laundry. Bite.” hehehe, alright back to the news. Per Harris there are 2 more books besides the one coming out next year. There is a game based on some of her short stories coming out (how is that going to work? And which short stories?), Harper Connelly comic books are coming out, and in February there is going to be the Sookie Companion. Dynamyte Entertainment will be doing the Charlaine Harris Graphic novels.

My personal hopes are we get to see some old school Eric, not that I don’t like him anymore, but this last book fell flat with me. Eric didn’t seem very Eric-ish. And for her to drop that the whole bar was singing Jace Everrett’s “Bad Things”. That was a TOTAL head nod to the show, and, not to be mean, but that song is not that popular. That was a side rant.

So looking for some old school Sookie and Eric, and I hate to say it but I am glad Bill has found his “sister” or whatever vampires call their makers other children. He needs to get off Sookie already. Just a side question that I feel never really got addressed…..does Jason got the whole Fae thing going on too? Is this ever going to be addressed?  Everyone is always chomping on Sookie but none of the vamps are pulled to drink from him? Plus,I mean how bad ass would a panther fairy be? I’m just saying.
 
Now on to the best (and what I am sure is going to be longest part of this post), we got some news through the Goodreads grapevine about JR Ward via a signing for Crave (can I just throw in how much I like that book). There was a Q & A session with the WARDen herself. One poster was gracious enough to share what she learned. You can find her full post here.

But because I am big mouthed and want to add my comments I have pulled the highlights.
 
There will be 6 new brothers.
Are any of them going to be Michael? Does anyone remember reading his story in the Dead After Dark anthology. His story was called “Story of Son” and it was about a kidnapped lawyer? I’m sure I can think at least Blay will become an official Brother (cause Qhuinn can’t due to the whole ahstrux nohtrum thing.
 
Q: Will JM become a brother?
A: Absolutely. And Payne. Xhex.
Brothers? Are these going to be part of the new 6? People need to learn to ask follow up questions. She’s awesome people but while you got the cow, milk it! Geesh. And will they call them Sisters? Am I over thinking this?
 
Q: Will Xhex’s mom and Thor get together?
A: Rather than give a verbal response, JR slowly puts her 2 hands together – and forms the shape of a heart.
*bellowing in rage* SERIOUSLY!?! I don’t want this. Not at all. I suspected she would do that to them from the last book when we got to see the Darius diary entries, but no no no no no no no. I do not want this. It is just wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Or I’m still pissed off at him for running away from JM and trying to die in the forest like a crybaby. Personally I would have rather seen him go all crazy as a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew killing lessers. I guess if I was trying to kill myself I would want to go out avenging my wife not wallowing in self pity. But hey that’s just me.
 
** JR re-confirms that Rhage and Mary will get a baby in their Slice of Life. Both Slices of Life are still on schedule. Sometime in later 2011. By around June or so, we should get their exact release dates. (Wrath/Beth is the other Slice of Life being released). That is awesome. I think Mary and Rhage should get a baby, when will Beth and Wrath get theirs?
 
** Big problems for Jane and V in Lover Unleashed.

Maybe because JR has finally heard my pleas and written me into the story line?
 
** Re-confirms that JM and the Brothers will NEVER know that he his Darius, reincarnated. But JM’s seizures will continue to occur from time to time.
Well I can’t say this comes as a surprise, but really it would be kinda strange right? Who you thought was your brother is really your dad and he can’t remember anything anyways….so yeah.

Q: Will Jim Heron, Adrian Vogel, or Eddie Blackhawk (Fallen Angels series) be one of the souls to be saved?
A: Yes. But I’m not saying who.
I think it will be Eddie, just from what I have read in Crave, but we’ll see.
