HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!! MY LATEST BOOK REVIEW IS UP ➔ Book Review – Drive by Kate Stewart, (this one was just released) and we LOVED like crazy, so I can tell you that, THAT will be my biggest recommendation of the day, weekend, month… maybe even year. ;) IT. WAS. AWESOME!!!!!!!

It brought me back to my old-school, new adult love story indie days, that took my heart on a roller coaster ride of emotions, my heart dipping and swirling, and almost crashing, and I have to say it. Drive is one of the BEST reads of the year, and it is another that will be forever on my favorites list. And now, Unloved, a love story is up next for me!! YAY ME!!!! :D

But in the meantime:

  • Bountiful (True North Book 4) by Sarina Bowen <— LIVE!! SARINA BOWEN HOCKEY STAR ALERT!!! “...Hockey star Dave Beringer has never forgotten the intense month he spent with prickly Zara. MELISSA FOSTER’S LATEST (and it has tons of great reviews!!) “...After spending five magical days and four sweet, soulful nights falling in love, Aiyla couldn’t imagine a day without Ty. But when he asked her to go with him on his next assignment, his reputation for having women at his beck and call stopped her from upending the life she’d worked so hard to create. Months later fate steps in when a chance encounter brings Ty and Aiyla together for a five-day wilderness event held in the Colorado Mountains...”

It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
  1. The Company by J.A. Huss <— Rochelle LOVES these (5 stars!) but warns: “I am a JA Huss fan and bought The Company. It is on Audible. To my disappointment this is her 3 books together, Come, come Back, and Coming for You. This is an excellent read and the audible is fantastic. It is just sad it wasn’t stated as her other books renamed. So beware. BTW it is a 5 star read.”
Kooloo: I’m reading The Company by J.A. Huss and I’m sooooo into this one it’s like it was written just for me!!! I FLOVE this author and not just cause she has a Masters degree in Forensic Toxicology (she’s a big nerd like me)!

Good morning! Happy, happy Friday!!!!

Maryse October 20, 2017 at 5:43 AM

Happy Friday Nay!!!!!!!!

Nay October 20, 2017 at 5:43 AM

Maryse–is there a list for books like Drive?

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 5:47 AM

Morning everyone. :)

I am so confused…what the heck to read?!? I want to read EVERYTHING at once.

Such as the life of a book nerd.

Maryse October 20, 2017 at 5:53 AM

Well actually I’d post Drive ON a list already created… let me find which one it best fits, and I’ll add it. And update the whole list while i’m add it. :D

Maryse October 20, 2017 at 5:54 AM

Leslie M.

DRIVE!!!!!!! :D !!!!!!

Nay October 20, 2017 at 6:13 AM

Yes, Leslie! Drive!!!

Maryse–Thank you! I figured there had to be a list already created–just wasn’t sure which one. Once I read a book like this, I don’t want to stop! lol

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 6:23 AM

*side eyes everyone who was reading Drive and didn’t tell me it was a love triangle*

I just found out this is love triangle and gave Nay a tongue lashing on GR.

I assumed this was depressing/Marmy/anti-Leslie read with the way you all have been talking. Love triangle angst is definitely my thing!!!

Lisa Aiello October 20, 2017 at 6:53 AM

Nodding like a madwoman next to Leslie…yeah me too!!! Ain’t no angst like a good ole love triangle trope!!!

Dani October 20, 2017 at 6:56 AM

On the 31st the new Charlie Davidson is out!!!!!!

Amy October 20, 2017 at 7:04 AM

*waves groggily*

Morning all you chipper chipmunks. I’m running on four hours of sleep because I stayed up way too late so I could finish Drive and then couldnt fall asleep ’cause I kept thinking about it. Definitely a contender for fave of the year for me.

*yawns and stumbles toward coffeemaker*

Y’all have a fantabulous day. ;)

marina October 20, 2017 at 7:06 AM

Hi Maryse, I’m desperate for a read which will be an escape but low angst. Does Drive fit? I need to read it because it sounds soooo good, but don’t want trauma, sickness… also was trying to find your link for low angst books but couldn’t. Can u please post the link for me. Thx so much!!!! xoxoxo

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 7:08 AM

Hot cop alert!!!!

Did you see K. Bromberg has new one coming out? Its called Cuffed. THAT COVER!!!!

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 7:20 AM

Marina, I know there was a list of my recs somewhere. But they are older books at this point. Its labeled as “low angst” but really its more like non-death, non-depressing, HEA guaranteed type. Are you on Goodreads? I would love to see your shelves and give you recs. *rubs hands together with glee* Us anti-death club gals need to stick together! ;)

Nay October 20, 2017 at 7:29 AM

Marina–Drive is definitely NOT low angst. Only read it when you’re ready for tummy-twisting, gut wrenching fun!

bev October 20, 2017 at 7:34 AM

I’m tempted but, well not reading, and last triangle I read was Thoughtless……

Marina, what do you like?

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 8:07 AM

Its funny because I see so many readers on GR that see “love triangle” and they run in other direction. Me? I love them. Different strokes…

Bev, you aren’t anti-love triangle, you just hated Thoughtless right?

Cristina October 20, 2017 at 8:35 AM

Hey everyone! Happy Friday!!!!!!

I finished Drive about two days ago, and like most, it is probably one of my top three (could be #1) books of the year!

“Living for a man is the quickest way to get lost.”

“Even in hindsight, with all of your mistakes disappearing in the distance, the things you got right are there alongside them. I’d made the mistake of only looking for the hurt. Because why do we have to be perfect?”

There is SO MUCH about this book that stuck with me, but those are two of my favorite quotes. Of course I love it when our hero finally wakes up, but I LOVE it when our heroine has those self-actualization moments.

bev October 20, 2017 at 8:40 AM

No, not really anti. But not a favorite trope because it usually puts the heroine in the unlikable category. I want to love my heroines.

Grey October 20, 2017 at 9:07 AM

Drive, huh? I love my triangles… I haven’t read a really good one in a LONG time. Like a long time. Maryse, shoot me straight, on a scale on 0-Arsen, what are we talking here?

I finished doing a proof last night so I am open. I am feeling a bit dark though, maybe before the angst a good bully… TESSA!!!

bev October 20, 2017 at 9:15 AM

3 things:

1. I love a rainy day, it makes me happy.
2. So a rainy payday Friday makes me extra happy.
3. Song I am listening to on way to work. Would post the video, cause like it, but they edit the words.
Speaking of Texas ……where are all our Texas ladies?

R. Renee October 20, 2017 at 9:22 AM

1. I’m here! Just been super busy. And now I’m super busy watching Ela and Lisa read Forever Right Now going “where are you now?”…”OK now where are you?” :D

2. Thinking of 12/12 as a potential release date…

3. I ate both lunch and dinner twice yesterday. But I skipped breakfast twice if that helps.

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 9:38 AM

3 things:

1. I love bananas. But when they have big black spots in center it grosses me out and I have to toss it.

2. I have to clean and pay bills and do a million things but books and my couch are calling out to me.

3. Started Drive. Only read prologue because…too busy. *grumbles* Too bad this isn’t audiobook. Looks like I will be listening to Twilight instead while getting my stuff done.

Amy October 20, 2017 at 10:40 AM

Grey…it’s not Arsen-like because there isn’t really any cheating, just some questionable choices.

But angst wise? Yeah, you’ll get a good fix from it. ;) And it’s VERY emotional.

Ela October 20, 2017 at 11:20 AM

ARSEN?????????????????? WHAT? WHERE? WHEN?

I got my settlement #3 $67.36 BABYYYYYYYYYYYY

Ela October 20, 2017 at 11:25 AM

3 things!!!!!!! OH bevIIIIII

1. I just ate an all fried lunch, while trying to lose weight AND it was good at least it was fish….

2. Emma Scott is a really horrible person deep down inside. (Just kidding or not???)

3. Damn I want a strawberry shake from Potbellies……….CAUSE IT’S THAT GOOD…….DIET? WHAT DIET?

Tessa October 20, 2017 at 12:42 PM

Okay, so far Drive has made me discover that I only own one Fugees song. It was not Ready or Not and that I still don’t get the excitement over The Dave Matthews Band. (Really. I know it’s popular, but I don’t GET why).

3 things:
1. I contemplated buying Ready or Not and remembered it was kind of repetitive, so I just Youtubed it. However, I also don’t have much Adele, which I didn’t realize, so I’ll be buying 21 and 24 next month.
2. It rained last night! RAIN! It was awesome. I was up until 12:30am reading when I heard the rain starting. So I put the book away, turned off all sound, and fell asleep to it. :D
3. Hurricane started on my playlist, and I swear, I missed it THREE times. I went back to it for a fourth time just so I could hear it. (My favorite 30 Seconds to Mars song)

Mary October 20, 2017 at 3:05 PM

I’m looking for this book. It’s dirty and all I remember is this scene in which they get married and have sex in front of the priest.
Does anyone have any idea what book it is?

Ela October 20, 2017 at 3:05 PM
Jean October 20, 2017 at 3:39 PM

1. Counting the minutes to leave work.
2. It’s been beautiful here for October…..75 and sunny days!
3. I want to read Drive…. have a love/hate relationship with love triangles because they make my stomach hurt (but I always end up loving them).

Ela October 20, 2017 at 3:55 PM

Mary, I doubt it’s this book but it’s just as hot Six by Opal Carew…. they get married in front of an ordained person and then they both have sex with her.

R. Renee October 20, 2017 at 4:01 PM

I agree with Ela! Forever Right Now is a must read. If it weren’t for my RUSH bias I’d say hands down it’s my favorite.

Tessa October 20, 2017 at 4:12 PM

I’m already reading one you all recommended, Drive. I want to know stuffs, but I’m far from where I could possibly know stuffs.

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 4:47 PM

Mary, if you like dirty books with priests I would recommend The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz. The first book is The Siren.

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 4:52 PM

I am def going to read Forever Right Now. :) It sounds perfectly up my CR alley.

I just don’t know when!! I want to read too many at once.

Maryse October 20, 2017 at 6:40 PM

TESSA!!! DO NOT SPOIL THIS FOR YOURSELF. PROMISE ME. You will want to… even I wanted to, I was so distraught… so confused, so IN LOVE. DO NOT do anything but ride it all out with her. Go on this drive with her. ;) Tee hee! See what I did there?? No, but seriously. Don’t stop, and don’t skip ahead.

Maryse October 20, 2017 at 6:41 PM

JEAN!!!!! Read it. I. PROMISE.

I’m jumping into Unloved in just a few minutes. :)

Maryse October 20, 2017 at 6:43 PM

Grey!! Angst-scale? A good ol’ 8-10… depending on your angst-tolerance. Tee hee!!! This totally DID IT for me.

Tessa October 20, 2017 at 6:44 PM

Oh, no worries. I just want to know stuffs, but I don’t want to ruin it. It’s what makes the book so good, is not knowing stuffs, but wanting to know stuff, yet not finding out stuffs because then the whole book becomes boring. I don’t like boring. :D Though, the chapter titled after the song Black should’ve been named after the song If You’re Gone by Matchbox 20 for the sole reason that it came on right as I was reading that chapter. :)

Maryse October 20, 2017 at 6:46 PM

Oh no Marina… I’m with Nay on this one. IT IS INCREDIBLY INTENSE. But soooooo exciting!!!!

Grey October 20, 2017 at 7:37 PM

Tessa!!!! I need a bully!

Jan October 20, 2017 at 7:55 PM

Drive is angsty? A triangle? *bites hangnail apprehensively*

Cheryl October 20, 2017 at 8:36 PM

1. Ate candy corn for lunch. That counts as a veggie, right?!
2. Beautiful weather here.
3. Going tomorrow to Nordstrom’s for Tom Ford makeup event! Yippee!!

Just finished Unloved. Started very slowly and had a hard time getting into it (probably didn’t help that I had just finished Drive and was comparing the “feels”). It had a unique premise, with a “twist”. I liked it, but didn’t love it.

marina October 20, 2017 at 9:15 PM

Thanks you guys so much for your feedback. I love angst usually and think I can handle it and so badly NEED to read Drive. And I want my mind off everything else so it seems like I should go for it. I just can’t handle sad or sickness right now. Or psychological thriller anxiety at this moment. Leslie, I am on goodreads but not totally up to date on goodreads with the sexy books we read. I just friend requested you Maryse (why haven’t I done this years ago???) but realize that you have 3K friends!! So, not sure how to find you Leslie? I’ll search more too for the “low angst” recs. I know I saw a list not too long ago. xoxo

Leslie M October 20, 2017 at 9:26 PM

Marina, there probably is an easier way to find me on GR, but try this:

Go to “Community”, then “groups”, search for Maryse’s Book Blog, then “members”, and I am only Leslie in group. :) You can then friend request me.

Maryse October 21, 2017 at 7:22 AM

You guys!!!

Check your Amazon account. You might have an additional credit from the Apple eBooks Antitrust Settlement!! I had an extra $24!

Check yours ➔ http://amzn.to/2yEyTmE

Leslie M October 21, 2017 at 7:37 AM

Yay Maryse! I had $30 from Nook. *cha-ching*

Grey October 21, 2017 at 7:47 AM

Tessa came thru for me… Obsidian for the Win!

Maryse October 21, 2017 at 8:06 AM

Oh I gotta check my Nook account!!!!

Tessa October 21, 2017 at 10:35 AM

Yeah! I’m glad you are enjoying it, Grey! Isn’t just a jerk? lol

Alright, you all were right about Drive. I absolutely loved it. I did get teary-eyed at one point (I don’t get teary eyed easily). But the song that hit the hardest for me was Who Knew by Pink. That mixed with what was happening was what hit me.

Nay October 21, 2017 at 1:26 PM

Maryse–did you ever figure out which list Drive will go on? I’m jonesing for other books like it!!

Maryse October 21, 2017 at 2:10 PM

Okay MANY of my lists… this book could totally be on. So play in these. ;)

Right off the bat I’d say “How to Kill a Rockstar” is the CLOSEST to this level of angst and indecision and heartache. Then “The Mighty Storm” (Samantha Towle). Also the Love Me with Lies trilogy by Tarryn Fisher. The Man I Love Trilogy by Suanne Laqueur, That, and Thoughtless, and Beautiful Disaster, Rock Me, and even Arsen (but Arsen goes above and beyond the heartachy parts).

P.P.S. It’s possible you’ve already looked these over, but I’d definitely give them another look (many of the books I mention above are on these lists) but I definitely need to properly update them with more:

bev October 21, 2017 at 2:35 PM

Ok, I liked BD and The Mighty Storm….but have no desire to read the Love me with lies trilogy, though I own it. Hated Thoughtless.

I can’t decide if I should buy it or not.

Maryse October 21, 2017 at 4:31 PM

You should bev. This one is SUPER-quality and very well played out. Very realistic.

Amy October 21, 2017 at 5:26 PM

NAY!!! Accidentally on Purpose!! THAT one is super angsty.

And I wholeheartedly agree with Love Me With Lies, Thoughtless, and Arsen.

Let me scan through my read books and find some others…

Leslie M October 21, 2017 at 5:59 PM

*grabs megaphone and shouts into it*

Seriously guys….this is a must read. Ask Jean, she recently read it and loved it.

Bev, I am not sure how you would feel about this h. :(

Amy October 21, 2017 at 6:19 PM

bev would hate the h. :?

bev October 21, 2017 at 6:30 PM

I’d hate the h in drive?

Amy October 21, 2017 at 6:31 PM

No, in Accidentally on Purpose.

Tessa October 21, 2017 at 6:52 PM

Oh Bev, you totally would.

Amy October 21, 2017 at 6:58 PM

*points to Tessa and raises brows*

bev October 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM

Oh yeah. Staying away from that one.

Nay October 21, 2017 at 7:56 PM

Thanks so much for the reminder, Maryse! It’s been a while since I’ve checked out these lists. I think I’ve read every book on the first two lists and almost all on the cheating list, but I do still have some Marmy books to read.

I actually made a Marmy shelf on GR and intended to read them all this year, but all of my 2017 reading goals got thrown out the window, so I’ll start fresh next year!

Nay October 21, 2017 at 8:06 PM

Ok, so about Accidentally on Purpose…I finally got past the first 50 pages and read up to about 60% and then there was a buddy read, so I put it down and….I kinda forgot about it! lol

So I’m going to pick it back up right now and finish it. I feel the angst from it, but it’s just not giving me the tummy twists.

Leslie M October 21, 2017 at 8:31 PM

Nay, another awesome and emotional read with a rock star is Forget/Blur duet by N.A. Alcorn.

Nay October 21, 2017 at 10:40 PM

I’ll check it out–thanks, Leslie!

R. Renee October 22, 2017 at 8:06 AM

I’m at 15% of Drive and now I’m bumping up HTKARS on the TBR! It actually has a God-Shaped Whole vibe writing/character wise so I can totally see that! Loving it so far.

D.G. October 22, 2017 at 8:41 AM

Hey ladies! Checking in! First things first my 3 things….

1. My birthday weekend totally SUCKS!

2. Why haven’t I won the lotto yet? Weekend would definitely look up and I could read my days away!

3. I have a strong craving for cake…any kind!

D.G. October 22, 2017 at 8:43 AM

But on to other things….like Ruthless King!!! OMGEEEEEE! I need the next one like NOW! Cliffhangers kill ME! Sexy mysterious alpha male…possibly mafia…possibly a myth…possibly superhuman…definitely HOT! This what the real fairytales are made of! Well done Meghan March, well done! Ladies, he is definitely a BULLY to her…like do as I say or else kinda bully!

bev October 22, 2017 at 9:34 AM

Happy Birthday, DG!

It’s your birthday so you can eat as much cake as you want.

Jean October 22, 2017 at 9:52 AM

Happy birthday D.G.!

I want to read Ruthless King BAD!! And bully???? Oh Tessa, hear that…..catnip!!!!

Leslie M October 22, 2017 at 11:12 AM

Happy Birthday D.G.!!! :) I hope you have a great day and you should go get a lottery ticket.

I don’t have cake, but just made cinnamon rolls.

*sends D.G. over some hot, sticky cinnamon rolls*

I am looking forward to Ruthless King but NO WAY am I starting it until all books are released. * scowls and shakes head violently*

If Drive is anything like HTKaRS or God Shaped Hole, I am not going to be happy.

*gives my book buddies the stink eye*

D.G. October 22, 2017 at 11:20 AM

Thanks ladies! If I can move past all the RL junk that has made this weekend suck, then I plan on spending tomorrow by myself eating all kinds of cake…cupcakes, cheesecake, birthday cake…yeah, that might be all I eat tomorrow!

Leslie, the next book in the trilogy comes out in November and the final in December. It is killing me!

Jean and Tessa…Mount (haha what a suggestive name because yes that is what she wants is for him to…yeah, Mount) definitely falls into the bully category as in the bossy, scary do as I say or else I am going to whack someone bully. Sigh! But who doesn’t love a good ole bossy alpha!

Grey October 22, 2017 at 7:26 PM

And like magic… *poof* I appear. It was the word ‘bully’, it summons me, book catnip. For sure.

I devoured Obsidian. On to Onyx. I think I am definitely going to get kindle unlimited for Black Friday as a gift for myself. LOL. Luckily I had these books already. I have Ruthless King on my wish list and Drive too, November will be busy.

D.G. October 22, 2017 at 7:49 PM

Thanks all! Thanks Jan for the hot chocolate….not sure if there is ever too much sugar! Yes, R my actual birthday is tomorrow even though my birthday weekend has been a total bust. But I am off tomorrow and crossing fingers work forgets me for a day.
