25 of the Latest Bargain e-Books & Reader Recommendations – April 10th 2015

Kulti. Finished. The face mask scene was too sweet. I have to say it was definitely Sal who made the book. Love heroines like this. I kind of wish there had been just a little more time with them at the end. But that’s a tiny thing.
Strawberries for Dessert, I stayed up until 3 reading that book, lol.
Now where to go? I was thinking Hooker & Hermit to stay with sports & funny, plus my tbr. But Burying Water sounds so intriguing.

Okay…this post had me literally snickering and snorting the whole time I was scrolling through it. Y’all know me so well, LOL!! *muah!*

I was debating between Ten Below Zero (avoiding reviews so I have NO idea what will happen…yay!) and Burying Water, but once I saw MichelleS’s rec for The Charlotte Chronicles I was pretty much sold. Just waiting for her to finish it for her final opinion…she IS picky and I love her honest (sometimes brutally so) opinions!

I have to say one more thing about My Life Next Door…it’s one of those books for me where I loved, loved, loved it, and after not thinking about it for a while and then being reminded of it again now it is all I can think about. It’s just so…so…right. *snort* I have a way with words, eh? 😛

I’m torn. There are too many good books. Do I want to read Neanderthal Seeks Human, the Chicagoland book I’ve yet to read, Kulti? So many goodies!

I just finished Elements of Chemistry:Attraction. By 8% I was laughing out loud. At the same time, on TV, some guy was in a ring of fire, burning to death. Needless to say, I got a lot of odd stares. Oh, and finished Instinct, the Chronicles of Nick book. Awesome of course, but i expected that. When Kenyon does just great, it’s one of her “worst” books. My expectations are HIGH!

Now to read Kulti Neanderthal in Chicagoland.

Her voice made the book, especially the random synonyms. It had me giggling like crazy.

All these great books in my TBR means I never have to buy a book again. Heck, I still have to read the last Cats and Bones book as well as the last Immortal Instruments book. Oh and the rest of the Kitty Norville books. I own those so no more buying needed by me. That’s why I pre-ordered Aflame, Salvations and Secrets, and My Time in the Affair.

Aw Bev, I can get pretty emotional over little stuff as well so I feel ya. 😉 And I still want to see Cinderella! Everytime I see a commercial and that dress *dreamy sigh* I want to buy some popcorn and candy and a big ol' soda and plop myself down in the theater.

The only thing I would do differently from the tutorial is not bring Omega (taupe-ish color) all the way over to the bridge of the nose but focus it more on the outer crease/upper lid so that it extends a bit above Quarry and works as a "blending" shade. And, of course, use some Urban Decay Primer Potion first. 😉 *giddy giggle* I wanna go play with my makeup now!

So I too have been in a major book rut, can’t seem to get into a book and really feel it, I did start JRWard’s BDB #11, now I LOVE this series, but this one is not grabbing me, I was considering skipping this to go on to #12 & #13, which I hear amazing things about, anyone have any thoughts about this, will I miss anything important if I give “Lover at Last” a pass??

This book is not slow! It’s ultimate hatred first, but not slow. I absolutely love it. Yeah, Multi Kulti. I corrected the auto correct about five times, and still, one slipped through. *grins*

Yes, I’m inserting myself in the conversation and inviting myself to a buddy read! 😛 I’ve been so antsy for that book since Maryse posted it in the preorders last month. So many coming out over this month and next that I can’t wait for! Under the Influence by L.B. Simmons, Here’s to Falling by Christine Zolendz, My Time in the Affair…so excited!! *clappy hands*

Laura I’ve only read the first so I’m no help. I always meant to go back and read the rest, which was a lot less at the time, lol.

One I really want to read this year is The Bronze Horseman.

Bev, I’ve been wanting to read The Bronze Horseman for so long now too! It’s long so I really need to be prepared to set the time aside for that one! I’ve had it downloaded for a while now.

@ Jean, I know ‘The Nightingale’ is a little pricey but soooo worth it!! It’s a fantastic book with some of the most amazing writing I have ever read!!

Joy – BDB skip ahead? hmm….. have to admit that 11 and 12 were duds… but they set up some story lines…. maybe if you read a really good review of the book that has all those elements (like a Cliff’s notes version!! ha). #13 was much better than the last few have been. Nothing compares to the first eight books, but this was a huge improvement over 9-12. I have never skipped a book in an ongoing series, so I have no idea how to answer that.

You know what’s so funny? My husband and friends have the opposite opinion, thinking I am not at all picky and read anything and everything and trash! LOL. I am picky about my trash, dang it!

Is everyone done with Kulti? Am I totally behind and on my own on that one? It’s a stand alone, right? I am only in the mood for stand-alones right now. I think I have ADD or something. Can’t commit to too much more than one book at a time.

I borrowed Nightingale from my library. The library is God’s gift to book addicts. I save hundreds a year checking with libraries first. Mine even offers indie writers.

Hi Michellef , have u read social media by J A HUSS , so so good , I’ve just started reading part six , oh and Sabrina paiges , prick and the next one is called tool.

I would live to jump in on the buddy read of My Time in the Affair. I absolutely loved the Kane trilogy. I will definitely be getting the Third Debt when that comes out. I’ve been a bit addicted to Charlotte Stein. They are short so I can finish them in a day but they pack a punch. Finished Sheltered last night and loved it.

Tessa – I also laughed out loud through Boy Toy Chronicles.

My next one is the 4th book in the Addicted series by Krista and Becca Ritchie. I foresee nothing getting done in my house today!

Well I finished Kulti yesterday and absolutely loved it! Yes Sal was the star for me but Kulti, for a man of little words, had some goosebump-inducing, swoon-worthy moments! I do not even really like soccer but it was not even a factor in connecting with the story at all. I wanted to start something new today but I’m finding that I want to stay with their story a little longer and nothing is looking good…another indicator for me that I just read a great one!

Maryse… THANK YOU, THANK YOU so much for the recommendations there are some books I have been waiting to read. It felt like they would never be released.

Hahaha, I’m avoiding Nightingale majorly due to price. I still have so many to buy with all of the series I’m reading. Kulti was so good I knew I’d have to read something very different. So I found today a freebie, Savage Run (YA dystopian first of a series thing). And if I like it, yeah… more series books to buy… Grrr.

Just finished Forever Red. It was a fantastic, angst filled story. I spent most of the day reading it. Loved Neil/Nate (you’ll understand the two names when you read it) who evolved from a sweet teenager to a bada$$, tattoed, pierced, country star. (yeh I know I said country star not rock star)!!! I liked the heroine, Lia too, although I thought her “reason” wasn’t that big and that she was a stupid, naive kid; but of course there’s more to it than that.

Nikki, I wanted to strangle Neil and Lia a couple times!! 😉

Oh, and Maryse. Must read Fallen Crest High!

MichelleS…okay, so I’m at about the halfway point in the Charlotte Chronicles and “stuff” has just happened, but there is still so much more to go in the book so now I’m wondering “what else could go wrong?” And we all know how dangerous it is to ask that. 😉 The little bit of an issue I’m having is with dual POV because if it was just her then daaaaaaammmmmnnn this would be working me over, but with his POV it’s diluting thee angst a bit. Still, I KNOW there is gonna be some stuff coming up so I’m bracing for it!

Think I’ll read Charlotte Chronicles today too, since I didn’t realize My Time In The Affair release date is May 2, thought was this week and would be my next read. 🙁

Actually, it picked up big time. The start was slow, but suddenly, boom, action. I’m enjoying it. Its a novella, so… It took way too much pof this tiny book to get anywhere, but now that it has, I can see they set you up to want the non-free books. Sneaky! *grins*

Amy, it’s called Motown Throwdown by K.S. Adkins…I wasn’t so sure about the title but the blurb grabbed me:) She has a series called Detroit after Dark and I read the first one of that and it was good. I’m really enjoying this one so far..I’ll let you know how it is!

Bev which graphic novel did you read? And did you like it?

I’m reading The Shadows. It has been so hard to stay away from spoilers on this one. I’m over 30% into it and think it’s safe to peek at a discussion that is supposed to be spoiler free. Wham! major spoiler with the first line I read. This is SO depressing. I have to say that I do not know a single other blog or website like Maryse’s. The respect here is unparalleled. Thank you Maryse, and all of you ladies, for making this a book lover’s haven.

I gotta get back to that series Jean. Honestly, I stopped because it wasn’t complete and swore I’d get back to it as soon as the last book was out. I am SO glad to hear it ends well. I mean, sheesh, there HAD to be a light at the end of that twisted dark tunnel.

Yes Fabi! It was a rough series, but so worth it. My friends loved the last book too so we are all happy now! Haha!

Cheryl, all joking aside, the only one of those mentioned I haven’t read was Eleanor and Park and My Life Next Door. All of them are really good, and you should definitely read them, no matter which you choose.

Jean, Maryse will, one of these years, listen! Either that, or she’s purposely not reading them to get free food. Ironically, I never would have found Fallen Crest High or Up in the Air if she hadn’t mentioned it on her blog. *grins* She’s got the power to get us to read stuff she hasn’t even read, (or finished).

Just finished Sarah Brianne’s Nero. *sighs* I love these type of books. Not Mafia (though I like those too) but someone being bullied and dealing with it. Nero was just so scary and used that scariness to help Elle. My type all the way.

Anyone read Nature of Cruelty? I’m considering that one after one of the many I started on Good reads, but ended up not in the mood for. I’m curious how good or not it was.

The discussion part is huge. The others are okay, don’t get me wrong, but I love hearing everyone’s thoughts about a book. Also, the lack of reveals is great. I’ve seen a few blogs do that.

Oh, the book that I went back to finish, I forgot it wasn’t a mood issue, it was an overly predictable issue. The Short Life of Sparrows is a DNF for me. Too predictable and not interesting enough for me. *shrugs*
