in Latest Book Releases

Happy Friday everyone!!! Another Friday Finds list loaded in goodies, but I will be adding more throughout the day as I find more. :)

P.S. I’m also making a HUGE list, but for something a little different that I’ve been asked for. Since so many of us here love beauty products, & often end up chatting about them, I’m compiling all of our “reader recommended make up and skin care products“. :D It’s not even close to being complete, but I’ve posted it, and I’ll be adding to that, today too. :)

  • The Best Friend by K. Larsen <— K. LARSEN’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! Her life was ideal, until that one tragic mistake: one day, just before sunrise, she went down to the docks to set up a photo shoot she’d dreamed up. She wanted to capture a colorful graffiti wall to use against the minimalist décor she had in mind for an upcoming project. But what she accidentally captured instead, was about to change her life forever. The click of her camera shutter was the last untroubled sound she heard. When a muffled scream ripped through the air, Aubry turned around. That was her first mistake…”
  • TANYA: Trouble With a Capital T (The Trouble Sisters Saga Book 1) by Taylor Lee
  • Beyond Touched (The Beyond Series Book 3) by Ashley Logan
  • Every Ugly Word by Aimee L. Salter <— BULLIED ALERT!! Amy found us this SUPER-BARGAIN!

Amy: Every Ugly Word by Aimee L. Salter …and from what I remember it was on the intense side! She was badly bullied and I remember wanting to throat punch some people.

…It has me feeling all kinds of intense feels, much like Therapy did. She has an “older self” that she sees in the mirror who tries to guide her without telling her exactly what will happen (and her older self appears to be quite a mess), and it has before and after alternating segments…before, when she was bullied mercilessly and her best/only friend (who she secretly loves) refuses to see the extent of it because he is friends with them, and then after, where something horrible has happened. Let me tell you, I need those “after” segments to break up the anxiety-inducing “before” segments

  • Ain’t Doin’ It (The Simple Man Series Book 4) by Lani Lynn Vale <— RETIRED DRILL SERGEANT & SHE’S 20 YEARS YOUNGER... “…He’s a retired army drill sergeant, so he is more than used to getting his way. And if he can’t have it his way? Well, let’s just say that’s never happened before… At least not until Cora Maldonado walks into his life, demanding he fall in line, or she’ll find a way to make his life hell...”
  • Betrayed by Kelsey Cheyenne
  • A Girl Like Lilac by Victoria L. James <— HE KEEPS GETTING ARRESTED FOR DEFENDING HER… “…With a desperate need to protect her from a distance, one arrest turned to two, two soon turning into three, and before Toby knew what was happening, the sleepy village of Southwold was turning against him for daring to stand up for a girl like Lilac. Beautiful Lilac with her flowers in her hair, her camera in her hands, and her sweet, pink, sugary-lipped kisses. They could hate him for loving her all they wanted. Toby was a boy who did what was right, not what was easy, and he was always going to grow to be the man willing to give her what she deserved…”
  • Love Detour by Susan V. Vaughn
  • Rose (Red Hot Love Series Book 3) by Elle Casey
  • The One by John Marrs <— I JUST READ THIS & IT WAS absolutely thought provoking!!! AND IT’S ON SALE TODAY! There’s only one soulmate out there for each person, and science has discovered YOURS via a DNA test… would you want to find out? Here’s my book review

Tina: This sounds like my kind of book! I’ll add it to my TBR Pile – thanks for sharing :-)

Paula: I loved this one! This is on my all time favourites list – it is so thought provoking. There is going to be a buddy read over on the GR group

  • Miss InstaPrincess (Construct My Heart Book 1) by K.D. Elizabeth <— SHE’S AN INSTAGRAM MODEL RUNNING OUT OF TIME… & HE’S THE NEIGHBOR FROM HELL “…at twenty-six, she’s running out of time before the Internet moves on to a younger model. Starting her own fitness line is the perfect escape. But the thing about new companies? They kind of need a little cash. A mentor who can show Lena how to run a business wouldn’t hurt, either. Fortunately, she’s rented the house of a man who could be her perfect business partner. If she agrees to accompany him to events as his date, he might just fund her line...”
  • A Boy Called L: A Taboo Love Story by Amy J. Heart <— HE’S A STREET KID & THEN HE MEETS HER… “...I want to stay alive, and a bl**job equals money which means I eat. And on the cycle goes. Until tonight when a girl who shivers in the rain, shocks my dead heart to life. This girl is everything. I don’t know her name, but I wish I did. There’s that saying—be careful what you wish for. But I had to learn the hard way, because my name is Lightning, and I don’t know what love is…
  • Unpredictable Love: Shades of Love (Trust Series Book 6) by Cristiane Serruya
  • I Didn’t Expect to be Expecting (Ravinder Singh Presents) by Richa S Mukherjee
  • Protecting My Commitment: Sulfur Springs Book 1 by Taylor Rylan <— M/M ROMANCE “…Collin McKenzie has trust issues. After countless bad experiences, culminating in spending over a year hidden in the closet by his ex, he decided enough was enough. He not only broke up with him, but he moved to a different state to start fresh. He loves working for the Welsh brothers and living in Wyoming puts him closer to his family. He’s sworn off men, but while attending a wedding, he sees a dark-haired man that makes him catch his breath…”
  • Becoming Me: A New Adult Contemporary Novel (The Imagination Series Book 1) by Staci Stallings
  • It Was Always You (Ridgewater High Romance Book 3) by Judy Corry
  • Steele: A Standalone Rock Star Romance (The Hysterics Book 4) by Kristen Hope Mazzola
  • The Interview: New York & Los Angeles by Sandi Lynn <— SHE’S A JOURNALIST & SHE HAS TO INTERVIEW TWO MILLIONAIRE BACHELORS… “...I moved to Seattle four years ago to pursue my dream job as a journalist for the Seattle Times and to get as far away from my dysfunctional family as possible. One of my assignments was to interview and write an article on two well-known hot and sexy bachelors who were self-made millionaires under the age of thirty-five. Women wanted to know why they were still single...”

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

Oh look at me wide awake and first!

R. Renee July 6, 2018 at 6:14 AM

Morning and thank you for the list Maryse. <3

Leslie M July 6, 2018 at 6:50 AM

*tosses Grey’s friday glitter but too tired to twirl in it*

Morning everyone! What’s on everyone’s schedule (reading and life)? I just started audio of Bountiful by Sarina Bowen and I am in birthday planning (my sons bday) and family vacation planning mode.

Lookit R. all bright eyed and bushy tailed!! ;)

R. Renee July 6, 2018 at 7:01 AM

I wouldn’t go that far but I am reading in a quiet house during a thunderstorm and it’s heaven.

Leslie M July 6, 2018 at 7:13 AM

Weird, we are supposed to be getting thunderstorms all the way here too!

Maryse July 6, 2018 at 7:38 AM

Good morning my friends!!! :D

Tasha J July 6, 2018 at 7:38 AM

I think it’s raining here too or it just stopped. Reading weather for everyone! And yes!! 79 here for the next 2 days, no more humid hundreds. *whew*
Did you see Fisher Amelie posted Idle’s release date for July 29? It sounds good and I think I did see her say once if you loved Vain (1 of my all time faves), then you’ll love this one.

Tasha J July 6, 2018 at 7:54 AM

Oh, happy birthday to your son Leslie! I loathe planning vacas and bdays, too much stress and pressure, but we always end up having the best time. I’m sure u will too!
I had a vaca from my older two kids for a few days this week. The first day I was super sad and missed them a whole bunch, watched reruns of a bunch of old romance movies all day. Then my Mom called me in the middle of the night worried about my son and dry drowning. That made me worried and super paranoid the next day and I took him to urgent care the next day for peace of mind. He’s fine. Jasper was a fuss butt that day also and I had a migraine half the night. And the last day I binged The Resident. Everyone was in a good mood, my hubby had the 4th off so I got a little extra sleep.
I’ve not read. I’m tired all the time, Js still up every 2 to 3 hours and I’ve had terrible headaches lately so I can’t look at the screen for too long. But, I wanna see what I’m in the mood for. I’m thinking of starting A Discovery of Witches (paranormal) or Everything You Want Me to Be (thriller) or The Book of M (dystopia) or How to Walk Away (should give me Me Before You feels) or Next Year in Havana (for romance) or Better When He’s Bad (for the bad boy, obv ;) )

Leslie M July 6, 2018 at 9:09 AM

Tasha, that whole dry drowning thing is crazy and so scary. My stomach clenched in anxiety just hearing you talk about it. Thank goodness everyone is good (minus your major sleep deprivation). Sounds like you have lots of good options for reading. Yay!

Amy July 6, 2018 at 9:32 AM

Good morning everyone! I’m jealous of the stormy reading weather you guys are getting. Sunny here but nothing higher than 71 today so I shouldn’t complain. But I do miss the crazy thunderstorms we used to get in North Carolina!

I’m still working on Jack and Josie, and it’s still good. I’m off work this week so I should be reading my heart out, right? Nope, I’m getting tied up in projects around the house.

Okay, now to check out the makeup post!!

Amy July 6, 2018 at 9:35 AM

Oh wait, I forgot something…The Last Letter From Your Lover by Jojo Moyes is 2.99, normally 11.99. Click!

Tasha…I have How to Walk Away as well and can’t wait to start it. I’m just waiting until I have a period of uninterrupted time to read it in case I get hooked. And, of course, I HAVE to throw in a vote for Everything You Want Me to Be. Because of course and FEELS!!!

Tasha J July 6, 2018 at 9:38 AM

There’s feels too?! I thought it was just a thriller. I need to start that one first then. It’s sunny here now too. Tricky weather. And windy, I worry my dress will fly up, it’s one of those days. I just spent 15 minutes fishing a perfume bottle outta the toilet with a wire hanger and a corn on the cob boat. Cuz I’m awesome that way. *dusts shoulders*

Amy July 6, 2018 at 9:54 AM

Tasha…definitely more of a feels book than a thriller, at least for me. Especially at the end. The letter. GAH! You’ll see what I mean at the very end.

And good job on the toilet work, LOL! You SHOULD be proud. ;)

Grey July 6, 2018 at 10:27 AM

*tosses leftover 4th of July confetti and glitter and Friday funfetti too*

Happy release day, K. Larsen! The Best Friend… #Larsenlurks  Congratulations, this one is all sorts of twisted pretzelly tummy awesomeness! So proud of you! ❤

Tasha J July 6, 2018 at 11:46 AM

I asked Alexa to play sweeper sounds this morning and this comes on – Lol! It made me think of you, Grey, since everybody was saying where they were from. I think it was you.

Jean July 6, 2018 at 12:18 PM

Happy Friday! Rain and thunderstorms here too!

I love K. Larsen…. gonna have to get that one!

I’m almost finished Playing With Monsters (80%)…..I’m having a love/hate relationship with this book. Am I going to want to jump right into book 2?????

Tessa July 6, 2018 at 12:34 PM

Grey, are you going to randomize so Paula can have a book this month too? :P

Jean… probably. Yes. I wish I could when I read book one.

I finished the last Imp book. :( Why the frown? Because the series is done and it was awesome and I loved the Sam and her archangel and even though she’s going to write more books in the world, their story is done and I’M GONNA MISS IT! *cries* It is honestly a series I could read forever. It’s PNR, hilarious, wonderful secondary and side characters, so much love and romance, and so much heart. I don’t want it to go away.

Tessa July 6, 2018 at 12:35 PM

Debra Dunbar’s Imp series is which Imp book I’m talking about. I realized most everyone would know what I’m talking about

Grey July 6, 2018 at 12:59 PM

Yep, Tasha… That’s me! Although today, feels a little more appropriate. Good for you with your MacGuyver toilet save!

Jean!!! How did I miss you were reading Playing With Monsters??? Omg! *grabs Tessa, jumps up and down*

Amy, I hope you have taken some R&R for yourself too, there missy!

Leslie, happy birthday to your son!! What kind of party are you having?

R, you were first? How the heck did that happen? Did you not go to bed last night?

Cleaning here at casa de la Grey…and no one is happy about it.

R. Renee July 6, 2018 at 1:04 PM

I told you! I was up early with Noah! #swoon

Grey July 6, 2018 at 1:27 PM

Omg! I got so swept up, I forgot about Paula’s randomizing. I’m on it! thanks Tessa!

Tessa July 6, 2018 at 1:35 PM

:) You’re welcome.

Nay July 6, 2018 at 1:40 PM

Happy Friday, everyone! OMG, it’s finally NOT in the 90′s here. This heat has been miserable–don’t want to sound gross, but scar tissue and extreme heat are not a happy combination for easy breathing.

I just put a hugely long comment on Maryse’s wonderful new make-up and skin care thread. I’m requesting info about anything that works for eye wrinkles/bags/dark circles. I posted what’s worked for me if anyone has problems with them like I do.

Jean July 6, 2018 at 1:54 PM

So Grey, does that mean I should continue with book 2…..

bev July 6, 2018 at 2:10 PM

I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.

I’m now onto Big Bang’s Bad Boy.

We should make a summer play list…..

My reading has slowed down again. Maybe because I fell through that rabbit hole but instead of tea parties and Mad Batters I found catchy hooks and synchronized dancing.

I read The Duke and I many years ago. I don’t remember mich about it but know others love it. I’ve been thinking of re reading it to see if I’ll like it more now.

bev July 6, 2018 at 2:11 PM

Seriously auto correct? Mad Batters makes more sense than Mad Hatter?
Someone needs to read a book.

Grey July 6, 2018 at 2:36 PM

Yes, Jean… Definitely. Although, make sure you have Manny and Godiva and Moscato. You need all of the things.

So, I have a deal! Kindle Unlimited is already on sale in prep for Prime Day. Not sure if this is just for Prime Members… But a one year subscription is 33% off (about $81) and a 2 year is 40% off (about $144) use code PDKU18. I did see strictly for Prime members that haven’t gotten KU yet, can get 3 months for just 99 cents, and if you buy a book off a new subscription, you get a $10 prime day credit to use toward ebooks or audible. Hope that helps someone else.

Jean July 6, 2018 at 2:51 PM

Oh no Grey……

Tessa July 6, 2018 at 3:12 PM

Why do you think we love the books so much, Jean?

Jean July 6, 2018 at 3:21 PM

Haha Tessa! Ok, I’m moving on with my love/hate relationship with Lucien…….

Tessa July 6, 2018 at 5:33 PM

Oh he is totally loveable and hateable in the first book. Wait until book two. Then you’ll… Yeah, tissues. Lots of tissues.

Jean July 6, 2018 at 5:44 PM

Oh crap Tessa…..

Tessa July 6, 2018 at 8:23 PM

This is sad. I went to write a review for The Morning Star (the Imp series) and got all choked up because the story was over. All PNR lovers, go read this series!

Cheryl July 6, 2018 at 8:47 PM

Nay- I LOVE these eye masks- helped with the puffiness and dark circles under my eyes.

My dermatologist recommended this eye cream:

Cheryl July 6, 2018 at 8:58 PM

Also, Happy Friday!!! I did shopping for my laundry room re-do. Fun.

Have a small gripe:
I read Smart Tass. Says it is a standalone, BUT, it ended on a cliffhanger!!! Same for book 2-cliffhanger!! It’s the kind of cliffhanger that is a teaser for the next book. Ugh. At least the series is complete.

Michele G July 6, 2018 at 10:17 PM

Tasha & Amy – I’m just saying I loved How to Walk Away!

Tessa – I’m definitely going to have to check out the Imp series you mentioned!

Leslie M July 7, 2018 at 10:01 AM

Thanks Grey, my “baby” is turning 18 on Monday. He is pretty amazing. He was worlds worst baby/toddler/young child but is worlds BEST teenager. He is high functioning autistic but isnt what you would think of as typical autistic (most seem to excel academically) as he struggles w/math & reading comprehension. He repeated 3rd grade so he isn’t graduating til next year. Anyway, I am doing a family party with pizza and cake on his actual birthday and then a friend party next weekend at movies for Antman. Planning parties this time of year is so hard with everyone being on vacay AND he shares a birthday with his BFF so we have to plan around that party too. Thank goodness I only have one kid!

Leslie M July 7, 2018 at 10:50 AM

Cheryl, I read Smart Tass and remembered liking it but there was “something” I didn’t like and couldn’t remember. Now that you mentioned it, it was the cliffy nonsense. Grrrr.

bev July 7, 2018 at 4:18 PM

Crickets. Crickets everywhere.

So I’m going to share one of my favorite things I found on my way down the kpop rabbit hole.

And you have to watch because you all are not here to keep me entertained. ;)

Apparently part of a Korean reality show. Cutest little girl whose dad is a performer and how she reacts when in front of her crush.

Too. Much. Cute. If you want to smile:

Jan July 7, 2018 at 7:12 PM

Leslie one of my sons although not autistic was also a very difficult/challenging baby and toddler. Always pushing back and so determined! We butted heads so often!! But now he’s a wonderful young man and his determination (aka stubbornness!!) which was so difficult to deal with in a toddler has transformed into a wonderful adult trait of being able to follow through on things and always get the job done properly. So if you’re a mum of a crazy toddler and you’re tearing your hair out, HANG IN THERE! Have faith that they will grow through it and what seems like a negative now might turn out to be a positive later.

Tessa July 7, 2018 at 8:15 PM

OMG, how utterly CUTE! Thank you, Bev. I’m grinning so much right now from that little girl, especially the fist bump.

Tasha J July 7, 2018 at 8:21 PM

Oh I so needed to hear that, Jan!

We’re celebrating the 4th today at the campgrounds. Fireworks should be coming soon and then I hear it takes until midnight or later to get outta here. I’m not a crowd person and there are SO many ppl. Hopefully this will be a memory the kids will really love to talk about when they’re older though.

bev July 7, 2018 at 9:01 PM

Isn’t it great, Tessa? Seriously put the biggest smile on my face.
I love when she abruptly turns and leaves and his expression when she gives him the fist bump. Who wouldn’t have a crush if someone looks at you that way?
Oh, and her dad calling her punk.

Melinda July 8, 2018 at 4:08 AM

Happy Birthday to your son Leslie. I also have an 18 year old girl. She’s my baby.

We just got back from USA. Suffering jetlag and I have to work tomorrow.

My eldest daughter was extremely difficult, stubborn, and very demanding but like Jan’s son, but has definitely made her morals and personality. She’s her own person. She’s finishing her last year of Nuclear Medicine.

And my middle daughter has her 21st party on Saturday. So a lot of organising to be done as I think there’s 120 people coming. But thank goodness it’s not at our house.

Melinda July 8, 2018 at 4:10 AM

Also I just read “That Guy” and loved it. Really enjoyable and funny.

bev July 8, 2018 at 2:22 PM

When I turned 21 I think I just went out and drank (got drunk) with a few friends.

Tessa July 8, 2018 at 3:01 PM

My sister took me to a club for my 21st… which, if you know me irl, you would never take me to a club for fun. lol I got a scotch and drank maybe a few sips and was bored. Then I had lots of water and soda. I like dancing but not club version of dancing.

Bev, I loved the Punk. You can tell she was just a happy little girl. I looked up the synopsis of the show. “Celebrity dads are left to care of their kids alone for 48 hours without the help of anyone, while their wives leave the home to enjoy some relaxing time off.” No wonder it was so cute.

bev July 8, 2018 at 3:38 PM

There is another ep with another little girl who meets G Dragon too. Not like a crush but likes to sing and dance to his songs. She ended up taking her dress off and he was the flustered one, lol.

That’s as far as I’ve watched. I do not need to add Korean reality shows to the mix.
Well….i watch running man but that’s a competition based show. Mostly tag. :)

Teri Rouse July 9, 2018 at 10:49 AM

Can I just also send out a little hmpf!! on The Boy Called L. It’s not a complete book but more like a sampler. Ended at 55% then shot into a teaser of the next book. At the end said to stay tuned for the entire book coming soon. It was free so there ya have it :-) It would be nice if they would give you a heads up. OK, off my little mousy-soap-box.

Tabathia B July 9, 2018 at 1:39 PM

Tasha, I have to say I have read and reread Discovery of Witches several times and the other two books in the series and I loved them all. It took me a few tries to get into book 2, but once I did I became hooked on that one also.

Tabathia B July 9, 2018 at 1:40 PM

Amy *waving* from Eastern North Carolina.

Tabathia B July 9, 2018 at 1:43 PM

Tessa, tell me more about the Imp series. Is it a romantic paranormal with erotic sex or strictly PG with paranormal story?
