Lisa: I read Baby Teeth some time ago. It was creepy, but not enough to give me nightmares. The little girl is just awful, and the father is a bit clueless to it all. If I had a kid like this, I’d consider accidentally drowning her! The most horrifying part is how does a parent deal with a child that they are afraid of. That is just chilling!!
Maryse: I’m DYING to read that one!! I love stories about creepy or dangerous children.

Amy: Maryse…too soon to say about the writing, although it is VERY unique. I had to re-read the prologue a couple of times before it somewhat started to make sense, and even now I am hoping it will be clarified by the end. The POV is completely…different. That is the only way I can describe it. If I tried to put it in words, I would muck it up. Fingers crossed for this one!

When I started BDtS, I was enjoying it but wasn’t getting what everyone was freaking out about. Then…BAM! You get smacked in the face with so much angst and emotion that you either can’t read fast enough or you have to put it down to wipe your tears/catch your breath. Then I started LLtBH and was on the edge of my seat entire book. Looking back at my updates, I was having an epic freakout. I don’t often fully connect with characters and I am notoriously picky but THIS STORY gutted me.

Maryse: Isn’t it weird how I can only READ fiction, but I always tend to prefer to “listen” to self-help audiobooks. In this case (and often the case for my self-help audiobooks) I like when Rachel talks to me. I love to listen to her, and I feel like we’re just hanging out. She’s already an amazing comfort and friend, even if I don’t know her in real life.
Leslie: I am with you Maryse re: audiobooks. It’s weird how books will have a different feel while listening to vs. reading. My library has this one, so I will give it a listen sometime.

I finished SUKI. I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. Let’s just say…I’m glad it was a short, quick read. I guess you could say I’m indifferent about it. *shrug*
Now I want something that is going to knock me on my a$$ and give me a book hangover…to go with the hangover I actually have right now. *giggle* That’s what happens when your hubby takes you out on an impromptu date night and you have waaaaaaaaaay too many pear martinis. Yay for having Friday off!! 😀
I hope SUKI works for you, Robyn! I wasn’t thrilled with the writing style, and I know that played a part in why I didn’t really connect with it. It felt like the story was being narrated so I didn’t feel like I was experiencing it with the characters. Then again, I find myself being VERY nitpicky nowadays with books. Fingers crossed for you!
And OMG I’m sooooooo freaking jealous! I would love to go to a haunted prison. Have a blast and then come back and tell us all the details!
Amy, I am reading (well listening to) one that feels like an “Amy book” to me. Not sure why…maybe because it’s h’s POV (so far anyway) and I have the feeling it will be heartbreaking. Anyway, I went to see if you read it and it IS on your TBR. It’s Love My Way, Kate Sterritt.
