Good morning and happy NEW RELEASE DAY to everyone. Mind you, this new release day is pretty short and sweet (65+) when comparing to our past BIG lists, but there are some definite worthy-looking books to read on it for sure!
For my, my definite YES PLEASE!!! books (aka my blurb-jolters) would be JoJo Moyes’ latest, The Horse Dancer (sounds like it could be an incredible drama/saga type. She’s forced to share her house with her ex husband, and a young girl comes into her life…), The Playboy Bachelor (her drunken grandmother buys him for her at an auction, but she hates his guts… tee hee!), Level Up (they’re roommates, and she’s always been just “one of the guys” and a gamer, but…), Twist (Dive Bar) (they start chatting online when his brother loses interest in her…), and Happily Ever After (but I have to read the first one badly… famous actor and a blogger!! :D)
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

Disaster at Roosevelt Ranch by Elise Faber <— SHE GOT PREGNANT BY THE WRONG TWIN… but… “I don’t need a man, thank you very much. Not rich, charismatic, and decidedly flighty Rex Roosevelt, and especially not his twin brother, Justin. No matter that the gorgeous former military doctor makes my heart beat a little faster...” (super-bargain!!!)
- Illicit: A Novel by Ava Harrison <— OH I LIKE THE TITLE OF THIS recent release… TEACHER-STUDENT ALERT!!! (super-bargain priced today). She had a one night stand with a stranger but… “It should have ended there. But he’s not a stranger. He’s my history teacher. And wanting him is against the rules.“
- Franco (Bright Side Book 3) by Kim Holden <— KIM HOLDEN ALERT (and this one CAN be read as a standalone). Tessa HIGHLY recommends it!
Okay, let me just say, Franco by Kim Holden just totally stole my heart. It’s all told from his POV, but darn if the story wasn’t remarkable. The author said this, so it’s not a spoiler. It has an HEA. It was funny, sweet, romantic, a bit emotional, and just happy. The author could have tied in something that would have really hit, but only if you read Bright Side. I’m glad she didn’t because she truly made it a standalone. Bright Side stuff is mentioned, but unless you read the book, nothing overly sad. (I read the book, OMG my heart clenched, but no tears). THIS IS A MUST READ!!!!
Darkfever: Fever Series Book 1 by Karen Marie Moning <— SUPER-JERKFACE HERO ALERT!!! BARRONS!!!!! One of my paranormal/urban fantasy favorites is super-bargain priced today!!!
- Promises (Coda Series Book 1) by Marie Sexton <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT & Fabi LOVED it!

Bipity bopity boop!!! Am I first???!!! Good morning Maryse!! You’re getting earlier every week!!! Just started Money Bags last night. Really cute so far. Want to read Cinder and Ella’s now that series is complete!!! Have a great day everyone!!
I’m 2nd!!! Yipee!!! Home sick in bed perfect day to start a new book!!! So many look good!! Decisions decisions!!!!
Maryse! You really need your beauty rest!
Less than a week left girls! Then I can buy books again!!!
This week, The Playboy Bachelor, The Horse Dancer and Smart Tass look like they could be contenders.
The Upside of Unrequited is by the same author that wrote Simon! That’s why I’m super excited.
So, Level Up is weird. I bought and read that book a year or two ago. It has a new cover now and when it takes me to amazon it doesn’t show that I already own it, though I did not hit the buy button.
I tried Cinder and Ella a couple months ago. It isn’t bad but I just wasn’t into it so I put it down.
*shrug *
Hey all! Just popping in real quick to check out the goodies. I haven’t read anything in like a month and I feel all out of sorts. I even have a handful of books at the ready, just no time and I’m having trouble focusing. This is like the slump of all slumps. 🙁 There are quite a few this week that have super appealing covers! I actually preordered One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline that just came in today and as excited as I am to dive into it….alas it won’t be today. *sigh* I need about a week to myself on a private island.
Quick question- I was trying to check out Sweet Gum Tree the other week for my April challenge – is this book not available anymore?
The cover for The Hot Shot is bringing to mind my trainer forcing me to do planks when I’m already exhausted, and it’s making me tired just looking at it. Well, back when I had time for a trainer. I’m too scared to go back at this point. *snort*
Oh no, Tasha!! I just looked on Amazon and the only available edition is a paperback for something like $44?? What the heck! And I can’t lend my copy…nooooooooo!!!
See, THIS is one of the reasons why I end up buying so many books instead of just getting samples or putting them on a wish list…you never know when a book will become unavailable. 🙁
I just looked and my copy isn’t loanable either. Although I don’t remember loaning it to anyone?? sorry Tasha, maybe your public library?
Mine isn’t lendable either, and I’m positive it used to be. There’s not even a copy on ebay, although one sold for $20 in February. Her website is also down to next to nothing with old links.
Well, darn. I was hoping it was a fluke or something. I did check my digital library and they didn’t have it. I’ll check the actual one later, but I doubt it there.
Right now, Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega Book 1) by Patricia Briggs is only 2.99. It’s regularly 7.99. 😀
Aww crap about Sweet Gum Tree. I’ve a few books I had wishlisted that that happened to. I wonder what happened? Maybe the author is going to release a different cover? *sighs* I hate when that happens.
Good news! I’m done with that series. Seraph Black by Jane Washington. Good story, but not good editing at first, and some parts I started to skim due to the writing. Thankfully, she improves with each book, but geesh. A bomb went off in the book and I didn’t even realize it until they started talking. Then I went back to the prior page where the talking stopped and re-read it. I kid you not.
Now… what book? I have so many goodies I can’t decide. Since I got all these new books I desperately want to read… I one clicked Smart Tass. Come on, a bully? You know I had to!
Uh, Smart Tass… something is wrong with his side muscle there. *bad photoshop*
Ela. I wholeheartedly agree with you… 😉
Linda is first *big squeeze hug* :D!!!!
I can’t help but wonder if the Sweet Gum Tree author will be re-releasing it…
Or if it got picked up by another publisher?
*fingers crossed* that it’s coming back…
P.S. I’ll try and find out…
Tessa–Oooh, you’re right about the bad photoshop. That actually looks painful!
He’s got a girly waste and cramps!
SEE!!! I totally agree with Amy! We better be safe than sorry!
So… I’m DNF-ing left & right. I decided what the heck, I’ll download sample of Red Queen. Totally hooked. Finally some good writing!!!
Speaking of disappearing books, Kele Moon’s Winter’s Dawn (Age of Alphas 1) just poof, disappeared from Amazon. I loved that series! Maybe Amy is on to something with the book hoarding after all.
MichelleS Red Queen is a good one if you don’t mind YA. I loved it.
*squee* Yeah, MichelleS! I hope you enjoy it. *fingers crossed* And I found Winter’s Dawn on Wattpad.
And I went to Katherine Allred’s facebook page, and she’s re-releasing her books though the last post was 3/21. Maybe that’s where it went?
Tessa – Winters’s Dawn was one of my favorite Werewolf stories. Really cool lore & believable traditions. The hair braiding! Ah! The hair braiding…, silly things we remember.
Don’t care about YA if it’s a good story & good writing, and it seems to have that.
bev I had a similar experience with amazon like your Level Up. I checked out Darkfever seeing it was a super special today. (And it IS on a sale in Australia too, which isn’t always the case!). I read the series ages ago and couldn’t remember whether that might be a new one I hadn’t read. But it said it was book one, but it DIDN”T say I owned it (which I know I do as I bought all of the early ones). Huh. Maybe it’s a ‘new edition’ or something. I think you have to be careful. I nearly bought it again. Lucky I checked before clicking.
Hey, what do you guys think would be a good spring book?
If it’s a beautiful spring day?
One of those 70 degree, blue sky, fluffy white cloud days. A gentle breeze that let’s you smell the flowers blooming. Birds in the trees singing, and maybe the sound of kids at baseball practice off in the distance. All day to be outside with your feet in the green green grass reading a book. What book would you rec for that type of day?
I asked Kele Moon awhile ago if she was going to continue The Age of Alphas series…Winters Dawn. She said she was, so hopefully that will turn into something. I loved that book. Yes, the hair braiding and combing!
Michelle S….the Red Queen was such a good book. I’ve read the whole series and am waiting for the next book to come out. You won’t be disappointed! I also bought all the books in hardback from Costco a couple months ago. I scored, the lottery on that one!
OMG!!! OMG!!! Sqweeeeee!!! Just saw where Kristin Ashley has a third Magdalene book coming out!!! LOVE ❤️ LOVED the first two! I CAN’T WAIT!!!!
Oh wow that is an awesome news find, D.G.!!!! Thank you!! 😀
Oooh goody. I liked the Magdelene books too. Slow, drawn out, but beautiful love stories. *excitedly goes to check out latest KA news*
Ooh. It’s called The Time In Between (great title) and Ms Ashley has finished the writing and it may come out in about August. Looking forward to it!
Hey bev, The Time In Between would be a book I’d like to sit and read on a spring day. Although August here is usually cold and windy, so I’ll more likely be nuggied up in front of the fire when it rolls into my kindle 😉
Jan – where is here again? Heat wave in August for me…
I agree…both of those books were awesome
South eastern Australia. August is still wintertime.
I just read a really good young adult book called Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum. I picked it up a couple months ago when it was bargained price, it no longer is. But just suggesting to keep this on your radar in case the price drops again. I would highly recommend this one.
I’m halfway through Smart Tass and loving it. Extremely humorous.
Hmmm…a book that makes me think of spring? I just finished a book I loved and despite the name sounding spring-ish (The Butterfly Project) it actually has a winter feel to it. Most of story takes place in winter in NYC and MC’s are cold a lot.
Maybe a book with baseball player H?
But what’s better in dreary spring that two hot MC’s bundled up together to ward off the icy chill of NYC??!! 😀
I’m so happy you loved it!! Emma Scott is a one-stop-swoon-shop! <–hey that kinda rhymes!
Bev – when I think of Spring, I think of flowers blooming, right? So stay with me here… in Tairen Soul Series, when a Fae woman is pregnant, these special flowers bloom in her wake. In the book, the Fae see these flowers for the first time in over 300 years when SOMEONE gets pregnant. I won’t say who. See that? I got to pimp out Tairen Soul one more time? LOL.
Bev – have you read Beyond The Sea (K. Andrews)? I think it’s a perfect Spring or Summer read. They get stranded on an island! So it’s like On the Island, only it’s two men… and it’s May-December, and one of them is in a boy band!!! Sounds so so cheesy – but it’s not. It was really really good. That’s my rec for you. Pretend it’s Simon – you can reuse your Simon for this one!
Tessa, can you send the link to Winter’s Dawn?
Woohoo! WarDance! One of my favorite series ever is Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughn. For me, it is right up there with Tairen Soul series.
Spring read- Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty. It did drive me crazy until like the halfway point I think wondering what happened at the barbecue (spring!), but learning more about all the characters kept me invested and I love her writing. For a rainy day, maybe Kitty French’s Chaplewick Mystery series. It’s only 2 books in so far, and has made it to one of my favorite mystery series.
Oooooh Beyond the Sea is one I’ve been wanting to read….sounds so good. Its on my book buddy challenge for Fabi’s 5 star. 🙂
I just wanted to inform everyone that I am drinking a chocolate cake shake from Portillo’s….You’re welcome
https://www.chicagotribune.com/dining/ct-chocolate-cake-shake-portillos-20150303-story.html
Yum Ela. My sister and I have been having Cosmos. Well.. er… “basic” cosmos. You know. Vodka and cranberry. 😉 BUT!!! In martini glasses. So… “Cosmos” . 😀
Ela – https://www.wattpad.com/291555111-winter%27s-dawn-age-of-alphas-book-1-chapter-one
Thank you! I wish it was still available for sale though…
*adds Warprize to her wishlist*
Bev, honestly I think you’d really like Tairen Soul. It’s got a lot of fantasy elements and the characters are intriguing. I can see you totally loving every moment of it.
So Amazon sent me an email, one of those, recommended based on what you buy.
It’s all Ilona Andrews.
That I own.
On Kindle…
Amazon needs to check that recommendation setting!
Tessa, I’m LOVING Off the Record!! Yay!!
😀 😀 😀 Yeah! I’m so glad!
Just finished Hausfrau.
Not entirely sure where my heads at right now! Not sure how to describe how I felt about it, I loved it but doesn’t seem like the right word to use. It was deep and not always easy but that ending…not sure it could have ended any other way, it was the only way I saw it going. The writing was just incredible.
My heart hurt for her even though at times she didn’t deserve it. Thank you for the rec! Definitely a 5* and one I’m not going to forget easily
YAYYYYYYY!!!! Lauren OMG Hausfrau has so much raw, personal, emotional, grit to it. So NOT “acceptable” and yet so … real.
Yay Lauren!! What’s next? Or are you taking a Marmy break?
And yes, the writing. OMG. I loved how she applied all her lessons to her real life!
I’m usually a quick reader but I took my time with this one. The writing deserved it. I wanted to absorbed and process every last word.
Not sure what’s next? Definitely something lighter. Have the new BDB but not feeling it right now
I don’t do light (generally speaking) so I’m of no help. You need Leslie!
Hrm, light. Franco by Kim Holden was light. 😛
I finished Etched in Bone. New exploding fluffballs, Skippy doing that thing that just made me have happy tears, the poor little girl, the bad guy, the two observers, penpals, Sam, the bike scene, Simon and Meg…
Five star, yes, but I’m seriously going to miss the courtyard.
Tessa, did you guys know she’s going to be doing spinoffs in 2018 for The Others?
I made US style buttermilk ‘biscuits’ last night with a recipe from the internet. They turned out totally YUM and everyone ate them all up, every last crumb . Do you think I could use the same mixture to make the famous monkey bread????
Yay Jan!!! I bet you can, and you don’t even need to roll and slice it. Just knead it into balls! Can’t hurt to try. It may not be pretty but as long as the dough is cooked through, it will taste fantastic!
Did you eat them with gravy?
Thanks R. Yeah we had them with mushroom gravy (and chicken and broccoli and a potato bake!) Don’t know whether that’s traditional but they sure went well together. I might just have to try monkey bread then. The biscuits were surprisingly easy to make (once I figured out US tablespoons do not equal Australian tablespoons LOL).
hahaha!! I didn’t even think of that! That sounds like it all goes together. In Texas we eat them with chicken fried steak (breaded and fried steak), mashed potatoes, and cream gravy! Or for breakfast with sausage gravy, or plain with butter and jelly.
As someone who HATES gravy, I have to recommend either jam, honey, or just butter in between the bisquits. That’s how I always eat it. With butter. The flavor just explodes in your mouth.
Now R needs to make Anzac biscuits.
what’s that bev?
Haha. An Aussie style cookie. (We call them ‘biscuits’ LOL). Rolled oats, wheat flour, butter, golden syrup, coconut etc. Yummy. The name comes from WW1: The Australian & New Zealand Army Corps = ANZAC. My grandad was one. Yeah, I’m that old…… :/
Chicken fried steak is one of those things that sounds weird to Aussies. Is it chicken or is it steak???? But yum, I’m sure.
I can see more US style biscuit making in my future 😉 Have to try those different toppings!
Lauren my friend, if by “light” you mean non-marmy, non-death and HEA then that’s basically everything I’ve ever read! 🙂
Well, I have been known to step to the dark side once in a while (Captive in the dark, Consequences) or enjoy some angst (Thoughtless, Tristan & Danika) but if you are looking for straight up CR or rom-com, I am your gal! 😉
Do you have a TBR on goodreads? Or do you have any particular titles in mind?
I started Mister Moneybags, seemed like it would be a easy read! Things are getting a little ‘weird’ though, not where I expected the book to go.
Anzac day is coming up.
Now I want to listen to the Pogues version of And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda.
Lauren, I was actually going to say that Mister Moneybags looks good! I plan to try that one as soon as I can squeeze it in.
You have probably already read these, but as far as Vi Keeland or Penelope Ward goes, I recommend:
Beat
Cocky Bastard
Egomaniac
Roomhate
Stepbrother Dearest (my fave)
FLT
“I knew he didn’t belong the moment I saw him.”
Complementary Colors by Adrienne Wilder
Amy I got a saying for you….you know instead of that’s total BS YOU CAN NOW USE one of your favorite words:
THAT’S A WHOLE FOOT OF COCK
On another note, why are “beard covers” showing up EVERYWHERE????
NO JUST NOOOOOOOOO
FLT- “Chris Brennan was applying for a teaching job at Central Valley High School, but he was a fraud.” – One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline
Ive read most.. I have egomaniac but still in my tbr pile.
I could have sworn I had read stepbrother dearest but Amazon and goodreads are both saying I havent?
Hi everyone- I really have to catch up on comments, and blog posts, so behind!! We’ve been doing some home improvement projects, my mother in law is staying with us after pacemaker insertion, my daughter is on spring break, so all my free time is taken up. Did read the latest Eversea book- Beach Wedding. Nice ending to Jack and Keri Ann’s story.
My sister is leaving on Saturday, and I TOO have to catch up on our fun comments and get back into our virtual pajama party fun. I miss you guys!!!!

——————————————-
I’ve noticed A LOT of authors are getting away from the naked torsos–going with couples or GUYS WITH NASTY, BUSHY BEARDS! UGH!!
FLT:
“It seemed unfair, spending three hours a day in a classroom during summer, only to wait another thirty minutes in the parking lot.”
Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins
OMG Nay! You’re genius! That’s what’s happening. They got tired of us b!tching about naked torsos so they all banned together and said, “Watch this, we’ll show ’em!”
Well someone needs to tell Amazon to stop updating our Kindle book covers. I want my book with the original cover I bought it with.
Fabi–there’s a setting on your account on Amazon where you can make it NOT update the books, but then you also won’t get any newer, edited copies. Not sure if that affects the covers, though??
Royally Screwed by Emma Chase is only 99 cents right now.
For FLT, I’m going by part two, because part one was part of a novella prologue:
“He won’t rememeber me,” I insisted.
Dirty, Filthy, Rich Men by Laurelin Paige
Seriously, this twisted stuff is what I adore the most. Just pure twisted jerks.
Those beard covers have been around for a while now. You all just didn’t notice it before The Opposite of You. And, fyi, the guy who’s pulling his hair… that’s used the most.
Rom-Com recommendation: Neighbors From Hell series!!!
Enough with the bearded lumberjacks !
FLT: “I hate First Friday.” – Red Queen
Ugh!! I had to get the audio-book because my library didn’t have any eBooks available. I hate audiobooks!
*hugs* My library so many books available for audio that aren’t available for e-book or dead tree books that I want to read. So instead, I just gaze wistfully at them. lol It should be e-book available before audio, darn it!
It’s a HOOPLA digital file – and my Mac & iPhone won’t play the sound!!! So frustrating.
Going to have to pay 10.99 or wait my turn in line for one of the eBooks.
Tessa–Oh, I noticed them. I just suffered in silence. I blame Penny Reid, Duck Dynasty and this inexpensive stock photo that’s been used for tons of covers lately (along with the puling hair one you mentioned!):
Oh and Brittainy Cherry for using a kinda long beard on the cover of her hugely popular ‘The Air He Breathes’. I think that once authors saw how popular that book was with the ‘bearded hero’, they took it and ran with it! LOL
I figure that book was good, because the story is good. I still have to read it. 🙂 But that one with the hair pulling, gah! Why??
Yeah, it’s an awesome book!
‘Sir Joseph Carrington acquired two boon companions after doing his part to rout the Corsican.’ from Lady Louisa’s Christmas Knight by Grace Burrowes
Terrible title for the book, but it’s another nice book in this series. I’m trapped in another HR craze at the moment (it happens now and then 😉 ) For some reason the titles of the books about the girls in the Windham series are all pretty corny titles. But enjoyable books all the same. (And it’s not even Christmas LOL). I like series about siblings. Joseph in this book is a wounded vet of the Napoleonic War. He is also a widower with two sweet little girls. Louisa has some shady secret, but I know all will be well in the end 🙂 Happy sigh…….
Reading books that make us happy sigh is a wonderful thing, Jan!! Thank you for that one. I’ll add it to the Friday List.
Oh my gosh. Ha. You ladies and the beards are as bad as me and Kellan.
MichelleS, that’s cause you’ve never listened to Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
But I can fix that for you and then I don’t have to keep typing out that title.
Tessa, I’ve read the first Tairen book, last year or year before.
Huh. Did you like it or not really?
Lol, you guys’ adversion to beards makes me laugh every time I read it. I actually prefer it trimmed nicely and close to the face. Whenever my husband’s starts to get a little too long, I actually start calling him a wooly mammoth. And most recently, changed his profile pic to this:
. It makes me laugh every time I look at it. Lol! So I was checking out pics on the internet to see if I actually liked anyone with a longer beard and it turns out no matter how good looking they are, the beard, in fact, does ruin it. I found like 2 that looked ok, but even still I dk if I’d want to kiss that. Haha

It’s a real testament as to how tired I am, and how long a week (month) it’s been when I wrote a FLT and everything and still have been checking for the Bargain Friday/Reader Rec post all day….
I did like it. I didn’t fall in love like some of you, though. But I’d read the next one.
FLT:
“It figures the asshole’s company would occupy the entire top floor.”
Mister Moneybags by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward.
Just starting it now…
Dirty, Filthy, Rich Men did not disapoint. Anyone who loves the darker, bully type hero, READ THIS! Seriously, I can’t believe how much I loved it. Thank you Grey for recommending it!
Next FLT:
I stood on a high balcony, the sort you’d expect to see at an opera house.
Dragon Storm by Ella Summers
Yeah, number four in her Legion of Angels series. I’m liking this one way more than I liked her Dragonborn books. She’s improving the more she writes. 😀 That’s always great to see.
Yes, but it isn’t the courtyard! I think I’ll probably love that one just as much, but I’m still going to miss being totally immersed in seeing Meg and Simon each book.
Tessa- would you recommend reading Dirty Flthy Rich Boys before starting DFRM? Or doesn’t it matter?
DFRM has DFRB as a “part one”, so it doesn’t matter. It’s already there. It’s important to the story, but since it’s in the one, why get the other?
Tessa, You are so welcome! I had a feeling, you’d love it… us and our bad boy bullies!
Lauren, I can answer this one! DFRM actually includes DFRB’s in the beginning of it. The novella DFRB is only 5-6 chapters long, so the author included it in the beginning of DFRM. So jump right in with DFRM, if that’s your thing 🙂 Tessa and I both really liked it! Thanks again to Laurelin Paige for letting me review the ARC and spread the love!
DFRB was free so just finished that not knowing it was included.
I’m hooked…so off to purchase DFRM!!!
Thanks ladies, got a feeling I’m going to like this one a lot.
Tessa & Grey- Got me intrigued by talk of DFRM but then I noticed there is a Dirty Filthy Rich Love that comes out in September. Does that mean DFRM ends on a cliffhanger?
Yeah, it does. So you’ll read it in Sept?
