HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY EVERYONE!!
P.S. THIS ONE JUST WENT LIVE TODAY, TOO (Interim by S. Walden) AND OMG THAT BLURB!!!! —-(my mom just said… “Oh. My. God.” My thoughts exactly.——>
Just in time, ’cause I finished my latest read last night and I’m ready for another. I ended up choosing The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah from last week’s list due to the amazing reviews it was getting. Pricey (ouch!!) but so beautifully written and pretty fantastic overall, although extremely painful to read. I loved it though. Totally not my “norm” as it was a historical (in the 1940’s when the Nazis invaded France), but I LOVED The Bronze Horseman, and this had a similar feel. Just right! I’m writing my review later today…
But alas, I need to move on, and so maybe… I might choose one from THIS list here. Like maybe The Virgin Romance Novelist (I wanna laugh SO hard after the last book I read that made me cry…) or, Elements of Chemistry (jerk-face bully PLUS I’m gonna laugh + book hangover? YES PLEASE!!!), or The Story of Son (yep… I haven’t read it yet, can you believe it!??? And I have a feeling this will have an “old-school BDB feel…), or The Mad Tatter (’cause he’s the bad boy, she’s the good girl, but sounds like he’s gonna be ruthless in his heartbreaking with the whole… “I don’t do “messy”)… yep. Decisions, decisions…
Or maybe I’ll backtrack through my TBR and see what I’ve forgotten that I so desperately want to read. Anyone wanna remind me? Anyone? 😛
Also… don’t forget to check out yesterday’s —> 8 NEW Early Bird Book Releases! Like I’m still VERY curious about “Only Trick” (he’s gay, but goes crazy for her!!). Quite a few awesome looking ones there, too.
AND a reminder: for those accessing my blog via their mobile device (phone or tablet) you’ll notice the look of it has changed (for now, that’s the “mobile compatible” version and I’m hoping we can get it close to the usual “look” while still keeping it “mobile friendly”). On a desktop computer/laptop the look of the blog is the usual one.
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

The Virgin Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn <— *GIGGLE* ALERT!!! 😛 Kelly LOVES IT saying: “Reading The Virgin Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn and I can’t stop laughing. Seriously. Every scene is amusing and the writing is so on.” Oh Yes… this blurb already has me laughing… “God, I have no idea what happens when private parts touch. Well… sorta. 😉 She says: “Didn’t realise it was a cliff hanger but I literally screamed Nooooooooooooo, when I read the last page on ‘Elements of Chemistry’ by Penny Reid. Best book I’ve read in ages. 5/5!!! Can’t wait for next part, major book hangover… ” and Carol Ann agrees: “Carol Ann: I read it too, and now I’m in a book depression It was going along so well, lots of smiles and laughs on my end…and then **poof** it’s over?? I’ve spent the entire day looking for something to be as good. <sigh>” And what’s GREAT is that the next 2 books are coming out VERY soon!! (series reading order)

Sara: I just finished Midnight Crossing by Charlaine Harris! I loved it and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Amy: Is it really good? I am gun shy after how she ended the Sookie series. I had really invested emotionally myself into the series…they way she ended it just was a afterthought and thrown together.
Sara: I really loved it. It did take a little bit to get into at first, but once it got going, it was hard to put down . The characters are very interesting.

The Mad Tatter by J.M. Darhower <— SOUNDS LIKE ROMANCE-ANGST! “The tattooed degenerate with a shady past. The beautiful ballerina with a bright future. I’d say read Elements of Chemistry, but… *throws Styrofoam popcorn* TBR lady!
Now to look at the new goodies!
I want the caramel covered popcorn!!!
Styrofoam… *hrmph* doesn’t even taste like nuthin’
😉
I bought Until Lily by Aurora Rose Reynolds yesterday after work and finished it on my lunch break today–it is SOOOO good!
DUH–I meant Until July–wow—well really, just read all of her books–they are all good!
Just started Only Trick by Jewel E Ann. You guys have got to check out this author! Undeniably You is one of my favorite books ever. Holding You and Releasing Me are very, very good books also! I just love her writing. Her characters are so relatable, funny and boy can she write some men you will swoon over! Whew!
There are some intriguing ones up there (like Mad Tatter!) but I think I’m more antsy to read the ones I have had my eye on for a little bit that come out this month and next…and they all sound like angst, angst, ANGST!! My Time In the Affair just *screams* the best kind of book turmoil. 😀
I started Boy In a Band last night, and it’s pretty different from what I have read lately but I’m enjoying it so far! Right now they are just 13 years old (hence the “different” aspect of it), but it is fun watching her struggle with the awkwardness of that age and just starting to like a boy but being confused because, as we all know, they can be flirty one minute and stupid the next when they get around their friends. But I have a feeling about what might be coming from the prologue. I wish it would have been a little more vague but that’s okay ’cause I’m just gonna pretend that since it is a series, what I think is going to happen won’t actually happen. Yep, that works! 😉
Ooooooh, what about the caramel popcorn that has chocolate drizzled on it?? Sooooo yummy!
Just finished Finding Home by Bonnie Dee. I know it’s an old one, but I think I remember you writing about it Maryse, however I can’t find your review. But it was such a great book, so different from many other books, which was refreshing. Absolutely loved it and I’m not sure I can start another one right away.
However I think the next book should be The Mad Tatter as I really love tattooed bad boys… in books 🙂
Amy. You had me at chocolate.
Pia I LOVED Finding Home. One of my all time favorites and OMG THAT STEAMY SCENE!!???
*whoooooooo*
Here’s my review: https://www.maryse.net/books/book-review-finding-home-by-bonnie-dee-and-lauren-baker.html
Shirley!!!!
Thank you so much for that update. I’m going to investigate… YAY US!!
Mindi… I’ve heard tons of great stuff about this series… Thank you for letting us know you love it.
This is why I LOVE your blog. That bargain price for The Shadows?? Yup… I called Amazon because I paid full price 10 days ago, and was not happy at all at that sudden price drop. So what did they do? Gave me a 6.25 refund. Yes-siree…. and you know what that means? I am going shopping…. thanks to your Maryse!!! YAY for me.
Yay MichelleS on your price reduction!! 😀
Thanks for the link to your review Maryse – and I must say that no one can write a review as you 🙂 You say exactly what I feel about the book. Truly amazing.
Saw the links to your reviews of the other books by Bonnie Dee and I think I’m gonna read them both next. I really like her writing and I’am totally up for more by her.
Thank you SO much Pia!!!!
Wow you just made my night!!! 😀 *hug*
I dare anyone to read the first line of Beautiful Secret- Christina Lauren and put it down lol!*Blush* But seriously it’s an entertaining read all her books are!
I started Only Trick last night and it’s really good so far!! When she describes what Trick looks like I can actually picture it…sometimes when I’m reading other books its just like ok he’s good looking…but Trick is Hot:)
Gah! Always in the minority, lol. Started Only Trick too. I’m not really feeling it. Not DNF yet, so going to stick with it. No squirrel. Though I did click Mad Tatter yesterday…..
Mmm popcorn. Lots of butter & salt. Throws some at Maryse for E & P.
Throws some sugar cubes in case she decides to ever visit the ponies.
The Virgin Romance Novelist looks good. I am reading Seduction and Snacks and it’s so funny. The heroine makes me laugh out loud (getting dirty looks from non readers whilst commuting) and even though I am aware of the main idea and how it will end, the writing is just captivating and laugh yourself silly….
Hey Maryse. Several of your links are going to The Moment of Letting Go by J. A. Redmerski, instead of what they are supposed to. This happened on Taken by Charlotte Stein and the ones under it by Shayla Black and Jillian Dodd.
Yikes!! Okay lemme fix it. Thank you Bev A!!
Amy, that sounds really good.
Man U guys get all the good stuff! All wee get is butterkist popcorn it’s just regular toffee popcorn I’m so moving!!! One of u may have to marry me off though u know for the visa lol
Bev! Have u been watching GOT? We just got the 1st new episode last night it’s already looking as if it’s taking a different direction with Sansa
I’m still on dragonfly in Amber its way long I think I might have to give it a break after this one so u girlies can give me a non historical recommendation for after maybe something funny?
It feels like July (Until July) was just born. It wasn’t long ago that I read Until November (July’s Mom & Dads book).
Laura, I haven’t. I watch when they are released on Dvd. So I’m always behind.
Mad Men is the one I’m worried about. I’m afraid if I read the recaps & the series finale is too depressing I won’t finish. And lets face it Mad Men is going 99.9% probably going to be depressing, lol.
Interim by S. Walden came out today too, and we all know how good her books can be at not shying away from the tough stuff. 😉
Bev, it IS good so far…I’m not too far into it yet but I’m liking it so far. Also, it starts in 1973 so no internet or Google or even a whole lot on TV about sex, so the innocence and awkwardness with her is endearing.
Yeah Laura, but you have that awesome fizzy blue vodka drink and you have SCOTLAND!!!
Speaking of GOT, I’ve only seen snippets when my hubby watches it but even *I* was sad and a little teary-eyed at the end of last season when the dragons reacted to how the blond girl (Kaleesi?) had to handle them. 🙁
Well I’m not seeing anything from this new list that I HAVE TO read this second so I’m continuing on with my alien romance spree and going with The Last Hour of Gann. I just finished Venomous by Penelope Fletcher and I’m still in the mood for some crazy worlds and the fantasy/scifi feel.
Oh Michelle, that’s my fav sub genre and I haven’t heard of either of those. Making a note of them now. Thanks.
Fine! *throws chocolate covered salted caramels* Actually, that sounds yummy.
I’m reading a YA, Sons of War, Daughters of Chaos. In spite of that mouthful of a name, it’s really good. A girl grows up with paranoid parents, falls in love, then flees for her life because he’s the enemy. 🙂
I got Mad Tatter because I basically get anything she writes. No exception. I haven’t even read the blurb yet.
Fabi, it’s one of my favorites too and it seems once I get in that genre it takes a few books for me to leave! I heard TLHoG is really good…it’s crazy long too which I usually like to really get into the world and characters. I have a few more in my tbr that I might knock off including the Brides of the Kindred – only read the first two. Do you have any other recs in that genre since I plan on going with a few more?
Michelle, I love exactly what you just described. I like my novels long so I can really get to know the world and the characters. And again, sci-fi romance combines two of my favorite genres so it has to be great. lol I also tend to read a couple or more in a row when I run across them. I put both of the ones you mentioned on my tbr list.
I wish I had more recs for you but I hardly ever run across these. I only know the ones you ladies recommend. MichelleS recommended the Kindred Brides a while back and I’ve read the first several of those. Will get back to that series too. More recently, Tessa recommended Rejar which is actually book 2. The first one is Knight of a Trillion Stars. I liked both of them. I really like the world. It’s a mix of fantasay/sci-fi/pnr. Very original. The only other one I can think of within the last year or so is erotica/dark Heat and the YA Lux series.
Ooops, I forgot to mention one of my all time favorites…
Have you read The League series by Sherrilyn Kenyon?
Well, you asked for reminders. I’ll never stop reminding you to read Rough Canvas by Joey Hill!!!!! It was “this close” to the top of you TBR list once! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I think Niki was looking into The Last Hour of G, recently.
Ok, I’m going to squirrel. Or maybe to make myself feel better I’ll say I have 4 books going at once…….5 if count tomorrow’s bus book.
But I just opened The Mad Tatter, just to look, you know. And between chpt.9 & 10 is an intermission. I have to read a book that has an intermission.
I soooo want to click on it to see why.
Ooh an Overture, too.
For some reason this makes me so happy.
LOL Lynne!!!! Gah! I gotta backtrack…
Oh The League series is another one I wanted to continue with – only read first one but I should read book 2 next. I read the Rejar comments and added that one already to see if I can I can get a borrow on booklending.com
Bev, Niki commenting got me to dig it out of my tbr haha. I got it a while back and forgot about it but I will post if it turns out good if anyone is curious.
Oh, definitely Michelle. Ive been curious since it came out and got so much buzz from romance readers. But have just been hesitant for some reason. So would love to know what you think.
Okay I would just like to announce that INTERIM is the book I’m reading tonight.
Thank you Amy!! That blurb just about killed me. 😯
Maryse, right?!? I’m a-thinking this one might top Going Under in tummy-twisting. I’m starting that one right after I finish my current read! 😀
Bev and Tessa, keep us updated on Mad Tatter! *giggle* I love that title.
I can’t seem to move on from Elements of Chemistry… 🙁 I’ve read it 3 times and actually started counting down the days on my calendar at work 16 DAYS LEFT!!!! I feel like the wait is slowly killing me.
Michelle, let me know how you like TLHoG… I enjoyed the sample… It was super long since the book is so long but I was hesitant to read since Bev reminded me there is a few rape scenes and they make me a little nervous… Let me know if you think it’s ok… I really did like the sample!
Amy, Mad Tatter will (maybe) be next. I just finished Son of War, Daughter of Chaos. OMG good. So much tension, a lot of figuring out, lots of sights to read about, secrets and lies, just YEAH! *grins* How many books take you from Arizona to the Artic? I’ll know tomorrow what I will read next. Hopefully, I’ll start Mad Tatter right away.
Alright, with that blurb, I can see why Maryse is picking Interim. At least I’ll find out how good it is.
Oh yeah bev I so need to catch up on mad men!
Amy that could be my job importing blue wkd to America!!
First – what is TLHoG?
I finished The Virgin (Original Sinners #7). Loved it. Of course. I can’t believe I ever hated Soren.
I need an escape from all of that modern day reality and angst. I am reading Reluctant Concubine (Hardstorm Saga). Ooh. This has Michelle and maybe Fabi written all over it. Maybe Bev too. Epic Fantasy. She’s a healer in a gentle world awaiting her special powers to finally come to her when she is sold into slavery by her father to a barbaric people. I’m hoping for some Golden Dynasty type feelings. Will let you know!
Oh – and it’s only 99 cents – and has good reviews on amazon (enough that I will actually believe them)… I’m eager to get back to it tonight.
Fabi – I was going to read Rajar, but I could not find it an amazon because I can’t remember how to spell it. Rajar is obviously not it!!! I tried Rajer too. ARGH.
Hey girls! I picked up The Mad Tatter, Boy Toy, and Tool…. do you see a pattern here? Lol!
Just wanted to give a shout out to Niki for recommending Forever Red!!! I love it! It has everything I need…. friends to lovers, drama, separation, hot country rock star…. what’s not to love?!?
Maryse, have you ever done a list of country rock stars? That would be awesome! Just sayin…..
MichelleS, Reluctant Concubine sounds promising.
It’s Rejar (lol I think you’ve spelled it every which way). But again, even though it’s a stand alone, you get the background of where he comes from in Knight of a Trillion Stars. It’s not necessary but I get more out of a story when I know the background. Tessa said basically the same thing when she recommended it.
Oh, and I think I’ll let Amy and Maryse read Interim first and be the guinea pigs…..that blurb was a little disturbing, but intriguing!
TLHoG is The Last Hour of Gann which I just started but so far has my complete attention. I will let ya all know how it turns out but it’s going to take a while since it’s a LONG one!
MichelleS the one you’re reading is definitely up my alley – let us know if it is Golden Dynasty-like because I will be even more all over that! Oh and when I typed in THLoG, Radiance comes up as a book others who read it liked so maybe you would be interested but I will post when done.
Adding Forever Red, Interim, and Elements of Chemistry to my list too…
I downloaded a sample of both Interim and TLHoG. I’m curious how they are, so I’ll be watching for updates!
Mad Tatter, so far, cute. Its male POV only so far, which is different, but I like him.
Jean, I just bought Tool, thank you. I love that whole forbidden thing… The cover has me gaga….
Oh a shout out!! Thanks Jean:) I’m waiting to hear how Interim is as well. Still reading Only Trick but it’s not really going where I wanted it to!! Can’t books just read our minds already:) Bev did you give up on this one??
Niki, have not totally given up on it, yet. Put it down to read Mad Tatter last night.
Now I have re picked up The Hermit & The Hooker. I’m horrible with putting down current reads to try new ones, trying to work on that, lol.
I’m going to give it a bit more time. Some of the problems I have are that she says she is a doormat, but in no way acts like one. That people say Trick is gay and that’s it. Have not seen any sign of this except he lives with a guy, unseen so far. In that only see his reaction to her but not to men, if that makes sense.
There are a couple other things too, but I’m only 20% in, lol, so could absolutely change.
POOP! Already clicked Only Trick maybe should have waited?
I’m trying so hard not to squirrel to Interim, but I’ve already made it to 70% of Boy in a Band so I figure I might as well finish it now instead of later. It’s not that it’s not good, it’s just… *sigh* I’m conflicted about it. I have never minded the h being weak around the H and giving in or going back to him over and over, like in Avoiding Commitment or Accidentally on Purpose (holy angsty gut twister!!) or even Thoughtless. I usually swoon over the H with them and hurt with them and freak out in jealousy with them, and even if the h acts like an idiot I usually still like her. But with this one? I just feel sad for her. Every time he ropes her back in (ooooooh he’s a JERKFACE, Maryse!!!!) I keep thinking, don’t do it, don’t do it, don’t– *throws up hands* Way to go, dumba$$.
Anyone else read Boy In a Band? What did you think?
Hey, it’s pink again!!!!!! 😀
Agh, now I’m craving really buttery popcorn with maybe some caramel drizzled on it!!
Jean- I agree I loved Forever Red!! Thanks Niki!
Amy, I read Boy In the Band. Not your typical rock star story. I think you’ll enjoy the “kick” of angst!!
Amy, missed your question before. The heroine did piss me off multiple times…hmm, how do I say this without giving anything away?? I yelled at her less, and I was “surprised” by the turn of events and how nonchalantly something was talked about. Hope that makes sense. 🙂
A few on the list have me interested. Interim I’m not sure about, because I’m a little burned out with the high school based stories right now. Would say Beautiful secret next, but I need to catch up on that series first and read Beautiful Beginning and Beautiful Beloved first. Hmmm, the Mad Tatter, maybe or Virtuous, but no it’s a trilogy, or The Shameless Hour(Loved The Year We Fell Down). Think I’ll read some samples first…
Cheryl, the Shameless hour looks good. Have seen a couple positive reviews. But I have the Understatement of the Year still unread and so want to read that first. Think may be my next read.
Bev, same here, I still have to read The Understatement of the Year before the Shameless Hour. Love the series!
Laura????? Or any other UK ladies?
On a romance blog I just saw the show, My Mad Fat Diary, mentioned. She was talking about how much she enjoys the show and the romance. Just curious if you had seen it. I saw that at least an ep or two Is available on YouTube. Thought about trying it.
What’s everyone reading? I need something a bit lighter (and shorter) after reading The King and The Shadows back to back. Forget how long those books are. The Shadows broke my heart a little so need something to lift me up
Interim looks abit too intense for me right now, will wait for maryse review but looks like it could be a good one.
Bev I’ve heard about it, think it was on BBC3 over here but haven’t watched it. I think its a comedy?
Bev and Jean I thought the books were standalones. I’ve only read The Year We Fell Down. 🙁
LaurenB those were my last two reads also. I decided to ahead and read Immortal next because it has been sitting in my tbr since it came out. I didn’t realize it was the last one in the FA series. I heard Lattimer was in it or mentioned and possibly a crossover in future BDB books with the angels in FA. Soooo, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. *snort*
I haven’t read the FA series!! Is it worth starting? Lattimer makes me giggle, he literally has no filter whatsoever. Came out with some right crackers in The Shadows.
Cheryl, they are. I’ve only read 1, 2, and the novella (2.5?). It seems like they all know each other but one book doesn’t depend on the other. I could of read those three in any order.
So I went to YouTube and tried that show. It is good. The show and the heroine are funny, cute, but pack some punches. Seriously hurt for her. Takes place in 96 which I love. The good ol days of Blur vs. Oasis, lol.
Love that the kind of jerky cute boy of the group looks to be into her.
Thanks Bev!! Think I will read The Shameless Hour now. 😉
LaurenB I like FA because it’s JRW, but for me, FA isn’t as good as BDB. Just a matter of taste I’m sure.
Cheryl, there were a few things that were nonchalantly talked about so not sure which one you specifically mean, lol. It’s like the teenage years lasted for the majority of the book and then suddenly the adult years were on fast forward…I didn’t care for all the time jumps. One or two is okay, but that many is a bit much for me.
Oh well…now on to Interim!! 😀
By the way, thanks MichelleS for the rec for the Charlotte Chronicles! I think what held me back from thoroughly enjoying it had nothing to do with the story itself but rather MY issue…I have a hard time with books that have military characters ’cause I have been around enough spec ops guys to know how they talk and don’t talk, and I cringe when an author tries to throw in certain dialogues to enhance the character as a soldier or marine or whatever. Like I said, that is strictly my issue but I would still recommend the book! 🙂
Just finished Mad Tatter, and it was cute. It’s all male POV, which I’m not as fond of, but had some seriously good points. His daughter, omg I adored her. She’s all about her dinosaurs and her daddy adores her as well. That relationship was perfect. *grins*
And… *squee* I have Third Debt downloaded. This is gonna be scary! *grabs blanket and hides, tablet in hand* Eep!
And and and and… First chapter! Double eep!
They are just too cute.

But fell down a bit of a rabbit hole, so no reading.
Have to say to show packs a few hurts too.
Carter by RJ Lewis is fantastic. Cliff hanger so wait for number 2 (released in a couple of weeks) if you cannot handle those.
Better than Loving Lawson, which I also enjoyed.
Cheryl, I loved all the Ivy Series books but I think they can be read as standalones! Hey, how about that Epilogue in Forever Red….whoa, blew my mind!
I’m reading Pretty Pink Ribbons… just started this morning….I have to know Levi’s story!
Just finished Kulti last night. The story and writing were fantastic. However I also made a discovery about myself! I don’t like my “burn” quite that slow!! Especially finding out this author reeeeally knows how to write a hooot scene!!! Craving more Kulti and that sucks!! Yes I’m pouting!!!
Ok update on The Last Hour of Gann…it’s soooo long that I’m only 25% done but I’m so very hooked that I want to sneak read all day long! The main character, Amber, is awesome and the world is so cool…it’s just fascinating and I have no idea where the story will go but so far I love it!
Aaack Michelle I want to read that.
Jean, I know that came out of left field!! I like Levi, but have to honestly say I did not enjoy PPR as much as Where We Belong.
Linda I felt the same way, waaaay too long waiting for the “good stuff.” 😉
Just read Maryse’s post about Carnage. I’m intrigued but also scared sh*tless by the comments, especially Amy’s. Not sure if that’s my next read or not. The story is completed in book 2 right?
Cheryl – I HATED Carnage and LOVED it in equal parts. The story completes in book two, I think. I have blocked it all out. I read the follow up, so it must have. Of course, it didn’t pack a punch like book one. I was very unsatisfied after book one – I guess I’m just a HEA kind of girl.
So for Michelle and Fabi and maybe Bev…. Reluctant Concubine is turning out to be really good. There’s a warlord, and she is taken as a slave, and they have vastly different cultures, and there’s even a tiger!!! LOL. I guess I am trying to make it into Golden Dynasty. So it is, and it isn’t. KA has her own style. Like you’re at her house having a margarita and she’s telling you a cool story. This is a bit more serious than that. his writer is committed to world building and epic fantasy. I’m not done yet, but it’s good so far.
Cheryl, don’t be scared by my comment about Carnage…I’m sure you know by now how melodramatic I can get after reading something that gets me all worked up. 😉 I don’t remember a whole lot about it other than being exhausted emotionally from all the drama, and not exactly in the way that I like. The ending was quite the gut kick but I was over it by the next morning and ready for the next book. *shrugs* Check out Maryse’s review…she summed it up perfectly.
I’m 24% into Interim and…damn. I wanted different and I got it. No idea how it will play out, and I love that in a story.
Thanks MichelleS. I like the premise and world building is not something I mind at all.
It looks good MichelleS. I’m always interested in fantasy/ fantasy romance recs. I still have Roam & the 1st Wilson book waiting. The Wilson book I swear I had in pb from the used book store or library sale at one point years ago. Not sure what happened to it.
Your new rec reminded me of one I’ve had on my radar for years. Elizabeth Vaughan’s Warprize. I remember seeing it on the amazon forums all the time a few years ago. But didn’t have an ereader & now look at the price and …Ouch.
Has any read it?
I’m scared of the Carnage series too!
Awww Cheryl, disappointed to hear that about PPR. I’m only at 15% so I’ll see how it goes.
so, ladies, any more feedback on Only Trick? Shirley, Niki, Bev…? It was one of the ones I was interested in. But, what Bev described…hmmm
I have not gone back to it yet Fabi, probably soon.
Have you read the Butterfly Tattoo. Really good.
MichelleS, I’m a HEA kinda girl too. Have to think about this one…
Bev – you know me so well, cause you know I went right to Amazon and clicked on Warprize. Yes, this is very much the same idea. I haven’t read Warprize, but I like this “theme” so if you read it, let me know!!! I need to be prepared for when a warlord or an alien or a shapeshifter comes for me…. and takes me to his horde, lair, planet, cave or whatever. It’s research. 😉
Bev, I have Butterfly Tattoo in my tbr but haven’t read it yet.
hahaha MichelleS
I am/was pretty determined to read the books in my “Read Next!” list before reading any others…but with Michelle mentioning Sci Fi Romance, I am barely hanging on by a thin thread. I was already on a PNR kick so talking and looking online at sci-fi romance options has me drooling.
Michelle, I went to buy Under By Treaty today and got a message on Amazon that I had bought it in Sept of last year. Oh yes, it’s in my tbr…lol. Ok, so I moved that one to my Read Next list. Have you read it? I read a single/solitary review and it said it’s a BDSM sci-fi romance — WTH?! hahaha yup, I’m all over that one
Bev – “BDSM Sci Ri Romance” – those words should not even be allowed in the same sentence cause you know I will look that up in a heartbeat. Okay… read blurb…. it’s about a femdom – and that is one thing I am not into – that just doesn’t float my boat…… but the rest sounds right up my alley. This also sounds like we have gotten so confused we don’t know what we want: A Regency Shapeshifting Alpha Dom who kidnaps a witch-vamp hybrid soccer player and goes to the future – in a kilt…… and eat bratwurst….. there, perfect… I have my premise…. HA!
MichelleS you are cracking me up today! lol
Hey guys, I just saw that The Shadows hit #2 on the NYT bestsellers. Of course, The Girl on the Train is STILL in the #1 spot. We read awesome books here. 🙂
Fabi – I got very little sleep last night, and I get “weird” on no sleep. Just ignore my babbling. I haven’t slept well since I spent ALL DAY reading Kulti on Saturday (10 hours straight). I can’t remember if you read it too. Did you? Gotta get back to my warlord and his horde and the virgin (maybe not for much longer) healer.
I haven’t read Kulti yet. It’s on my Read Next list. But I pulled one of those non-stop readathons recently with The Skull Throne so I know what you mean.
Hahaha I love that MichelleS. You just forgot that the Regency Shapeshifting Alpha Dom was once engaged to a Greek Goddess vampire Runner who broke his heart when she fell for the Irish Fae Sub who used to water her down after each practice.
Hassan Tessa. You guys are killing me. (and making me doubt my sanity because I actually understand your references!)
That was supposed to be “haaaa”
So on that note, I’m off to read. Writing isn’t working so well for me.
Tessa…. while he calls her “pidge” and makes her sign a contract…..
Lol, you guys.
Um, think that paticular sci fi/romance was Fabi’s rec.
Going to finish the reads I have going …..but in one of those feel like something but can’t put my finger on what, moods.
Fabi, so far I can say it’s not a typical cookie cutter scifi romance at all in a fabulous way! It’s detailed, intricate and I’m kinda getting a Tairen Soul vibe, in that the world, characters and plot are well developed for a fantasy/scifi read. Oh and it also has a Radiance feel since the main characters think each other are ugly at first and no one gets their connection.
Never read the one you mentioned Fabi but added it to my borrow list. I will read anything scifi romance basically.
MichelleS, that sounds really good…let us know because I’m really interested!
Oh Carnage I still loved even though my heart felt like it was literally crushed. Her Savior series is really good too in a angsty way.
One more and then back to TLHoG but I already got a loan for Rejar…love booklending.com…but can I read it without reading the first one?
I do have to say I’m enjoying my current read, The Hooker & The Hermit.
Making note of all of these, but think I’ll save buying new books til next month. And maybe start it with The Last Hour of Gaan.
So this isn’t the book I’m reading. But I just won it and had to peek inside. And you know it’s Thursday ;-).
The premise is cute. The h to make ends meet is singing telegrams. She is hired to dress as a pink bunny and sing to the H’s *cough cough* by one of his hookups.
“TODAY’S WEATHER FORECAST: imminent shitstorms across the Tri-State area.”
~Chase Me by Tessa Bailey
Michelle, Rejar is a stand alone, but I think both Tessa and I agree, you get his background in book 1. Book 1 is a sci fi romance so you might enjoy it.
Bev, that sounds really cute. And, man, you are llucky. Isn’t that two books you’ve won this month?
Fabi, knock on wood, lol. Very unusual for me. I had won one last month too.
That’s right, Bev… It’s Thursday… Share first line of current read…”One eagle from the North. An omen for change.” Koro said next to me in the tree top. – Reluctant Concubine.
First, let me vent. jfdklsfjdl;kszjfldsjalkfdj Jet! Why am I reading Third Debt again? Argh, it’s debt time and argh!
*takes a deep breath* Okay. Michelle, I read Rejar first. The why he’s there and such are useful to have, but not needed. Rejar is swoon worthy all on his own. I mean him. hehehe
MichelleS, ack, not a contract! Now I have to read this book about the Regency Shapeshifting Alpha Dom! *grins* We’ll call it The Dominant Shifting Lord’s Contract. It’ll be a best seller.
I’m done and um, Third Debt is um… I’m blown away by the ending. Good, great story, but not just a CH, but an OMG what? type of CH. So, yeah. That was insane, intense, and I think…
*grabs Amy manatee*
Yeah. *snuffles*
Bev, I read Chase Me. It was a really good, funny read!!
Tessa, “The Dominant Shifting Lord’s Contract can only be a best seller if, he is a tattooed biker who is also the lead singer of a famous band, hehehe
…who can only perform country music concerts at night because he burns up in the daylight.
Omg Fabi, that made me lol!
Hahaha Fabi
