Now back to our regularly scheduled program 😉
Lots of goodies (from super-dark, to super-funny) and even though I’m reading another psych-thriller from my TBR list, I’ve got a few on here that made it on, too! P.S. If you missed it, you must check out my latest 5-star review of Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas. HOLY MOLY fantastic mind-f**k alert!!!!!! LOL!!! I’m still beaming over that one.
Okay so now for the “mini-blurb-jolt” list”: Marry Screw Kill (that one up there to the left has been buzzing… and the blurb sounds crazy. Author says you need to be sitting down to read this one). YES PLEASE!! Ladies Man (’cause hello? I love romance-angst!!! And it’s Katy Evans so… yeah), After We Fall (hiding from her abusive ex, and it just so happens her new neighbor is a cop!! *swoon*), Tapping The Billionaire (’cause I love office romance, and he’s her boss, and I’m dying to know the true identity of these two authors), Opaque Mirrors (SUPER-DARK sounding, and the blurb had my eyebrows scrunching… plus so many LOVE this popular dark-read author!), Dick: A Bad Boys Novel (the title and premise almost seems eye-rolling and over-the-top, but I can’t help but wonder how a married schoolteacher and the father of one of her student’s – a widely known womanizer – is going to play out).
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything!)
AUDIOBOOK LVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
- Undecided by Julianna Keyes <— “FAMILIAR FEEL” BUT FRESH & FUNNY ALERT! Elizabeth recommends it!!!
“I really really liked it!!! It sounded like it would be something I’d read before BUT it was surprisingly fresh and different while still being familiar. I loved the heroine because I could totally understand her POV. She partied a lot (like a lot ha) her first year in college, got in trouble, and now it’s all work and no play. But life doesn’t work like that and I just loved all the characters and check it out! I feel like it got lost in the shuffle bc it seems like it would be like a lot of other NA but it’s not. Like I said, familiar but fresh and funny!!! The hero does magic tricks which is hilarious bc it’s also kinda cute ha”
- Save Me by Heidi McLaughlin <— Johanna recommends this one! “Hey Maryse, I finished Save Me by Heidi Mclaughlin last night. So so good. Have you read them? Here with Me is book 1. Do u have any recommendations on a similar book? I love reading about the Navy Seals”
Until You: The Fall Away Series by Penelope Douglas <— JERKFACE ALERT!!! Grey lost her mind over this one!
“OMG Jean!!! Read it!!! I’m abusing exclamation points right now, and I don’t even care! I loved Until You even more than Bully! Bully actually only got a 4.5 star rating from me, but Until You got a full 5 star rating!!! Oh hell, now I am going to have to go and read it again! Oh you simply have to read it!!! Jared’s take on everything… it’s… pretzel tummy jerkface angsty brilliance at it’s best!!!”
- God’s Eye (The Northwomen Sagas Book 1) by Susan Fanetti <— HISTORICAL ALERT! Ela is into it! “Really enjoying God’s Eye by Susan Fanetti! It has been very highly recommended and since I’m not too much into Historicals I was intrigued and I have to say so far very good. “
- Eternal Eden (Eden Trilogy Book 1) by Nicole Williams <— Amy LOVED this series!
“I’m excited because I don’t think I have EVER heard it mentioned here (aside from when I’ve mentioned it), and that series is one of those that holds a special place in my heart! I read it in my early PNR-obsessed reading days right after hubby bought me my first Nook, and it’s one of those that just stands out for some reason. I remember TONS of scenes from that series. To be honest, I don’t know if I would go all crazy over it today after getting so many other books under my belt, but I would say to you and anyone else wanting a PNR book with the feels from that whole Twilight time period (that is, if you aren’t too jaded in that genre) that you should give it a shot…William is too-good-to-believe perfect but sometimes we need that, ya know?”
- The Selection by Kiera Cass <— DYSTOPIAN ALERT! Amy found us this deal! “The Selection by Kiera Cass…I loved that series!!! Such a great YA dystopian story.
“
- Over the Hills and Far Away (NOLA’s Own Series Book 1) by Kelli Jean <— ROCK STAR SERIES ALERT! Tessa loves it! “The first book is Over the Hills and Far Away. It’s a rock series that was one of my favorite books of 2015.
“
- Eidolon (Wraith Kings Book 2) by Grace Draven <— Grace LOVED this recent release!
Grace: Ildiko and Brishen!!! I loved Radiance and Eidolon both! Eidolon gives a nice level of completion even though there will be more later. It doesn’t leave you hanging! I’m so happy about that. I feared there may be another big Wow at the end of book 2, so I was a little scared knowing it will be a while until a book 3. Turns out it was totally the right decision to go right into the second book. I’m purring like a happy kitty.
Jean: Yes Grace, I was wowed and I’m moving onto Book 2! This is like nothing I’ve ever read before.

Get Maryse’s Book Blog updates delivered by email (you’ll get one daily email that will have each post from that day consolidated on it).
Yay! A new week, a new blog post…and I’m on spring break. *cracks knuckles* Let’s do this!!!
I already got the billionaire one. That one looks light and fun. Marry, Screw, Kill… talk about tummy twists. Sounds interesting.
Invision: Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon comes out May 3 too. *happy dance* The last one was a huge game changer and I can’t wait to read what happens next. When the series is over, we better get Nick’s Dark Hunters book!
I needed your list today because I felt like I was missing something after I finished all my one-clicking on my Kindle this morning. I don’t think I missed anything but it still feels like I did. Anyway, BIG Marie Force fan so I’m excited for the next Green Mountain book. I also enjoy Harper Sloan so I one-clicked When I’m With You. I’ve also got Ladies Man waiting to be read. So much to read so little time. And now I see Renee Carlino has a new book next week. I don’t even need read what it’s about. That will be a one-click next week for sure.
Tessa…. I’ve always had a HUGE crush on Nick. He used to be SO cute and hilarious with Acheron… “Ash! You almost made me eat the stinky cheese!!!”
And then *boom* BAD-ASS!!! NICE!
Grey! I’m ready!!!!
Stephanie!! I know. I love Renee Carlino so that will be a sure read. I have to check out the blurb too…
Chronicles of Nick is one of my few hardcover collections. I’ve been eyeing the calendar for a while now. Almost here.
Added Tapping the Billionaire, been looking for a light and funny so hope this one hits the spot! I finished Moon Called (Mercy Thomson series #1) and absolutely loved it – I can tell already this ones going to be one of my all time fav pnr series. Waiting On book 2 from the library, so in the meantime started The Passage by Justin Cronin – I think Jan130 recommended it -so far so good but very early in. Ok so also wanted to mention 2 more I’ve added to my tbr I didn’t see up there today, The Year We Turned Forty by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke and Finding London by Ellie Wade. AND! Remember Nero by Sarah Brianne?! I read that back in 2014 and loved loved it…been following her bc I was really intrigued by Chloe’s story and we’re finally getting it April 30! 🙂 It’s going to be a two book thing though bc she’s got 2 guys after her heart, but I’m ok with that! Yay!!
I really got into the Dark Hunter series so when Nick Chronicles came out as a YA series I wasn’t a fan especially after how he treated Acheron. I guess I just didn’t feel invested in yet another series in the Dark Hunter world. Looking now there are just so many books in that world that criss cross, I feel overwhelmed just looking at the list.
Grey, I’m jealous. Wish I had a spring break. Plan on starting Until You tonight if I don’t get sidetracked by something else…..which is always possible.
Never made it to the second Kings Wraith book, but plan to soon.
Marry Screw Kill….yep, I’m intrigued! Grabbed the billionaire one! And had to grab Dick (no comments please…lol!)
I WANT DANGEROUS GIRLS SO BAD BUT THE PRICE IS KILLING ME!
Whatcha reading now Maryse?
Now I’m reading “The Kind Worth Killing” – it’s another that Sadie and Tracie went crazy for, and Sadie has been INSISTING. This one is full-on adults, and his wife is cheating on him (he’s super rich), and he meets a woman on a plane and they “bond” and she tells him that she’ll help him get rid of her. *gasp*
That’s crazy enough as it is, but not necessarily what would have attracted me to the book. Murder plot books and detective-type books are rarely my thing but because it’s a psych-thriller, I have the impression (by what I’ve heard from others) that this thing is going to twist in a way that I won’t see coming.
Geez Maryse! Why do you INSIST on reading the expensive books???
I thought the same thing Ela! And that book is really expensive! Crap!
I know RIGHT!!!!???? I sense a conspiracy!!!!!!!
No martinis for Maryse *sticks out tongue* or any other cocktails!
Is it expensive? GAH! You wanna know, I’m thinking I get these back when they’re on sale… they’re my one-clicks that I can’t help myself over, and then “shelve” until later.
Later is now!! 😀 LOL!
GIMME MARTINIS!!!!!!!!!
😛
I’m still reading Over The Hill’s and Far Away- the NOLA series. Tessa I commented in a previous post about this, but thought would include here because more recent:
Tessa, I’m actually liking NOLA for the most part; I don’t find it so much angst as just anxious on how this is going to turn out, since it is 3 books. I didn’t mean to imply that book 1 better not have a CH or not conclude the story; just unless the first book is really crappy, I *have* to finish any series I start. Also, what’s with the “that person looks really familiar.” Both MC’s have made those comments…
I’m not telling you why they look familiar. Book one is the least antsy, but there is way more. See, now I’m really curious what you think. I do get the have to read thing. I usually do too or I won’t finish it due to forgetting stuff. :/ It happens a lot.
First book in the Eden Trilogy (Eternal Eden) by Nicole Williams is FREE!!
Amazing list Maryse! Thank you.
Tapping the Billionaire and Dick sound great! One clicking now. I want to go home and keep reading Ladies Man! I’ve been thinking about Tahoe all day. I think I might have a tiny crush lol
—-> “Book one is the least antsy, but there is way more.” Tessa, my first thought on who they are is the group of girl’s that was at the concert where Phil and Kenna first met, but now I’m thinking it’s more complicated.
I just finished Sidebarred by Emma Chase. It’s was really cute. Jake Becker is just too adorable in an alpha way. I also read Forever Pucked by Helena Hunting and that was enjoyable too. Now I need angst. Uber angst. After I Do isn’t angsty yet. Does it get better?
I’m NOT buying a book titled “Dick”. Nope. I draw the line right there. Seriously??? Ack!
Wow, there is a whole lot that I want to read on this list. But I have to be completely honest. The one that stole my interest first… Until You *giggle* kidding. Sort of… READ IT!
Ok, All of the ones in Maryse’s initial blurb have my attention… I actually have Dangerous Girls in my kindle already though. So I think I’m gonna go with that one first. But I had a 20 dollar Amazon gift card, so I’m gonna go ahead and get all the rest of them I think, *giggle* NO SELF CONTROL! Maybe I’ll wait til tomorrow…
LOL MichelleS, after Cocky Bastard and Big Rock I didn’t think Dick was that bad. After all there are still older Richards that go by Dick.
I did get the sample. After the title caught my attention, I read the blurb and it sounds good.
Yeah and his name is “Richard” but everyone calls him Dick. 😉 See? So it’s okay. LOL!!!!! 😛
The Kind Worth Killing I started a couple months ago, it was a library loan and both my Mom and I got to about 70% before it took it back. Grrrr. I waited forever on the wait list and I had Pretty Girls at the same time and didn’t read them fast enough-seriously hate when that happens. We’ve been on the wait list again ever since, it was really good!
Somebody read something by julianna Keyes so we can talk about it HA
Also can’t wait for Sarah J Maas’ next. Hope it’s good
I sampled a bunch from this list but haven’t taken the plunge yet
I’ve read Julianna Keyes.
Not the new one though.
You know what Maryse hasn’t watched?
And it’s my special day.
For me, it was all about The Rose And The Dagger, and wishing A Court Of Mist and Fury would get here already!!
Bev! Is it your birthday?
I just finished Ladies Man. Oh my nerves, it was so amazing, so hot!!!! I could not put it down. My heart was pounding non stop!! Katy Evans writing is so spectacular!! LM went right to the top of my tbr list!! Loved the whole series!! Looking forward the Callan’s story next & the new series Katy has coming out this year!!
Lisa M I haven’t seen a single person who’s read it and has not had that same amazing reaction. I’m so sad I’m not caught up on that series so I can read Ladies Man. 🙁 I love Katy Evans.
Fabi, stop what you are reading now & get caught up!!! Lol!! I couldn’t put down any of the books in the series!! What book are you on?

Sharon…for me, After I Do was more emotionally intense as she tried to work through that year. It wasn’t a typical angsty read to me, BUT there were a few moments that tickled my angst fancy and had my chest clenching. Like that three-word email. *oomph!*
Bev…is it your birthday?!?
By the way Maryse…I’m LOVING Dangerous Girls. 😀
I am so excited Renee Carlinos new book is out this week. Love her writing. Cant wait.

Fabi, JR did make me cry—in parts. But I also cheered. And the characters just stayed in my head for days afterwards. Read it. Seriously.
Happy happy birthday Bev!!!
And omg, no wonder we’re so in tune and still butt heads. We’re both Taurus. *snort* Mine’s the 28th.
Happy (early) Birthday!
Taurus rules.
Lisa M, unfortunately I haven’t started that series yet even though Manwhore has been on my tbr since the day it came out. 🙁 <— seriously sad face.
…and also seriously, why would I worry about a book called Dick when I have Manwhore on my tbr. OMG the depths I’ve sunk to. *eye roll*
But…people…really…I don’t want to cry. Why??? Do y’all rec teary books to me? I just want loooove. *snicker*
Bev, lol, Taurus rules ’cause we’re too stubborn not to. ha!
Yes, we are. And slow moving but steadfast.
Seriously, this us a sign. I clicked on Fug Girls. And look who I saw. Maryse, you can’t ignore the universe.
https://www.gofugyourself.com/your-afternoon-man-bantamweight-crinkleyes-04-2016
Taurus, huh? Well that explains Bev’s bullheadedness…”read this and watch that, but don’t ask me to read or watch your recs.”
😛
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEV!!!!!!!
Okay, I have to whine a little. Tune me out now if you don’t want to hear it. 😛
I found a sample I picked up a while ago, and now the book can’t be found and I. Want. It. BADLY. Holier Than Thou by Laura Buzo. From the blurb: “Grief and longing run like veins of quicksilver through this beautiful novel, at once gloriously funny and achingly sad.” WHY?? Why can’t I get it?!?
*sigh*
Thank you.
I’ll blame it on my sign, lol.
Whoah. What a mighty list, Maryse. I’ve been away for a couple of days and have just had a look! Phew! I always enjoy your bold print, in caps ALERTS, too. Great teasers. Also sometimes they make me laugh! (If you imagine some of them out of context … LOL) Keep up the great work, Maryse.
I’m still in Last Hour of Gann mode. 63%. That book is one big read. Very full on. I haven’t really read anything else like it, actually. I really like it, altho’ I’m taking a bit of a break cos it’s just so freaking intense. I decided to read something else for a bit just to give myself some head space. So I started Written In Red. haven’t read Anne Bishop before. I quite like it, but found it a bit gross that the Others actually eat humans. But the storyline has hooked me in so I suppose I’ll just have to get over myself. I will be back into LHoG once my head has cleared a bit!
I like the way people appear to write their real opinions on these discussions. Sadly the reviews for new books on amazon and elsewhere are sometimes ridiculously over the top, with multiple 5 star raves for books that I have sometimes found to be just ‘meh’. (And surely I’m not the only one???) I know we all have different tastes, but I get annoyed if I think a review is unjustifiably OTT. Honesty is a much better policy.
So I like it when I read other’s comments about books they didn’t like as much, and why. Makes me really think about the book in question, and what I like/ don’t like in books. If I write a negative comment about a book, I’m not intending to target or hurt anyone or insult their taste. I’m just callin’ it as I see it, in the interest of frank and interesting discussion.
In that vein, my current pet peeve is books where the heroine has a potty mouth. Yeh, call me an old fashioned sexist. (Ouch! No peanuts!) but a few books I have tried lately have pretty much opened with our fair heroine pointlessly dropping the *f* bomb and even the *c* bomb in casual conversation. I don’t like this and it puts me off the whole book. Swearing is fine in it’s place (e.g. an extreme situation) and doesn’t worry me then, but as an everyday way to talk, no thanks.
Amy that book is available on Amazon Australia:
https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B007TGJCNY?pc_redir=T1
Dangerous Girls… Oh. Em. Gee. I am FLoving it. Maryse… girl, this book is off the chain fantabulous!!!
Happy belated birthday to bev!!!
Jean… check in Jean… are you reading Until You??? I have to know…
GREY! I SERIOUSLY LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW! I AM FREAKING OUT OVER UNTIL YOU!!!
You were so right that it is a totally different story than Tate’s in Bully. I could not stop reading and stupid work is getting in my way today! I just want to get back to it asap! My heart is aching for Jared….I love him! Love him! I definitely see a book fog coming after this one!
Anyone who has not read Bully and Until You, GET ON IT NOW!
Oh and happy belated birthday bev:)
Happy belated Birthday Bev!
Guys, I just read an excerpt from Dirty (Raw #2 by Belle Aurora, release date May 23). Holy crap! It made my heart start racing immediately! I’m excited!
Also, just found a perfect book for Amy coming out May 10. The Ending I Want by Samantha Towle. Blurb sounds angsty, tear jerky, and like it will hurt big time! Perfect Amy scenario!
JEAN I CAN’T WAIT FOR RAW 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I also have that Samantha book on my TBR!
I just stumbled on an awesome sounding PNR series!!!!!!!!! Tessa! This has your name all over it!
https://www.goodreads.com/series/155275-air-awakens
Grey!!!
I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gah. I wish I had made a reaction video for THAT one… quite a few jaw-dropping moments in it, but at one point… yeah I wish saw my own face. *snort*
Finished Ladies Man and loved it!! They connected on every level before starting a physical one and thats why it was so good! It was beautifully written. You can actually feel what they were feeling and thats what I look for in a book. I can honestly say this is my favorite book from Katy. Sorry Remy lol!
Happy belated birthday Bev! Big hugs!
Just finished Ladies Man! Oh Boy, am I in love with that book. It had me squeeing on every page. It was an angsty and filled with everything you could want in a romantic book! I need more books like this
Ok on to other things…….Tiffany Snow has the Kathleen Turner books at .99! If you haven’t read this series you are seriously missing out. Get them why they are at this great price!
Stephanie Hudson just released book 7 in her Afterlife series…..hello Dominic Draven anyone?? It’s called Sacrifice of the Septimus! Can’t wait to get my Draven on!
Mr. perfect by JA Huss went live and Caged book 2 in the Mackenzie Grey series by Karina Espinosa is out also. Book 1 is called Shift and I’ve been waiting forever for this second book to come out. It’s a fabulous shifter series!
Robyn, do you have to read the Manwhore series before Ladies Man because I haven’t read that series yet! (But I’m jealous of all the love I’m seeing for LM)!
Hey Jean, I know I’m not Robyn but I don’t think you need to read the Manwhore books first to read this one. I hope this is true because I don’t remember them…..so sad but true.
I was wondering too. Thanks Ela!!!
Thanks Ela! Unfortunately, we all have that memory issues when it comes to our books!
Agreed… I sometimes need to go over my reviews just to remember. Sometimes I find one on sale, and I’m all… “OH I remember everyone loving this one and the blurb is SO good”. I should one-click it. And then I try, and it says I already own it. And then, I check in my reviews, and OH. There it is. I already read it. *sigh*
OMG! LMAO! *book nerd problems #1001* *remembering a book we read*
hahahah!!!
Yep… sometimes I realize THAT’S the reason I remembered it “being well loved”
And then sometimes it’s just ’cause it wasn’t that memorable. 😐
An instance of “the blurb was better than the book”
Happy belated birthday Bev! *throws confetti* *throws peanut at Maryse for Murder of Crows in her honor*
Ela, yeah. I just wish-listed that. Thanks for the recommendation. It’s totally my type. 🙂
Grey, you realize how much I adore that series? Until You gutted me just like Bully. It’s how same time-frame, different POV should be done. It was insane.
I’m reading the Eden book. I’m not in enough to really have a say yet. :/
*peanut bonks me on the nose*
Ouch!!! LOL Tessa!!!!! Thanks. 😉
Don’t forget everyone!!! Tomorrow is Fabi’s birthday. We have almost-twins here. 😀
All this Courtyard talk has me wanting to read Marked in Flesh again.
lol Maryse. Fabi’s hitting the big 50 tomorrow so nowhere near twin status with Bev. 🙂 but no worries, I can still squee like a little girl over a hot book hero.
I. Said. Twins!!!! 😐 <--- Bossy. LOL! 50 is awesome. My mom is in her 60's and gorgeous and she squees over book-boys with us, too.
Fabi!!!!!!!!!! YOU LADY ARE YOUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY! Will you have strippers and a party???
MARYSE!!!!!!!!!??????????? I’m with Tessa on this one YOU HAVE TO CONTINUE WITH THE SERIES!
Ela – meh – strippers are overrated. I’d rather get cozy with a good book and a sweet drink.
Not even if the Magic Mike crew showed up???
EXCEPT if the Magic Mike crew showed up. 😉
Jean……no you don’t need to read the Manwhore books first. I read Ladies Man not even knowing it was part of a series! You are going to love it!!
Thanks Robyn!
Happy Belated Birthday Bev! Hope it was full of Amazon gift cards! My gift to you is a kiss from Simon, Rhage, Bran and Charles. SMACK!!
Fabi – this year is my big five-oh too!! In December. I lie about my birthdate all the time, but I’m admitting it here.
I can’t get Manwhore either, because I share my Kindle account with a friend (old kindle, she sees everything that comes up on my account). Bad enough I buy m/m (she gasps) and bikers (she doesn’t get it). I need another kindle account for my taboo reads.
I am loving all the ‘happy’ Ladies Man is bringing. I adored the Manwhore series….Saint was an amazing H. It’s not a series I would forget….but Ela, Maryse and Co I have had that happen to me WAY too many times…when Ive read all the rec’s for a book, read the blurb and thought ‘Ive GOT to read that’ only to discover I already have….and enjoyed it no less (according to my star rating).
Just shows we book nerds read too many books!
Happy Birthday Fabi. Flirty Fifty and fabulous. Congratulations.
Thanks Lisa.
MichelleS I’ve been telling people for years that I’m 50 or close to 50 – now I’m finally there. hahaha I guess I lie in reverse.
Deeper by Robin York is 1.99. You all know how I LOVE this book.
If you haven’t Read it.
Oooh. I feel like our names should rhyme. I could be babi or you could be fev.
And thank you all for the wishes. And the kisses, lol.
Dangerous Girls. Definitely recommend. Holy sh*tballs! Yes Maryse, omg yes! So so good, like I could see it! I knew what was coming. eeek! 5 stars for me too!
Tee hee!!!!
😀 YAY GREY!!!
Jean!!! That IS a book for me! 😀 You’re going to buddy read it with me right? Right?? 😉
Thank you Lisa! Unfortunately, I’m a strictly ebook girl, but I might make an exception. MIGHT. I don’t know. *sigh* 😕
Tessa…for me, Eden was a little slow when she was going through the whole “teaching” thing (when they had to keep things secret) and a little bit when she went to meet the family. But when they came back from meeting his family, things REALLY picked up. And then book two happened and *oomph!* Honestly though, like with any other book…if it doesn’t work for you, don’t try and force it, ya know?
Oh man Grey…between your reaction and Maryse’s, I can’t wait to get to *those* parts. My overactive brain already thinks it knows what’s going on, but I am REALLY hoping for a nice blindsiding blow…those are the BEST!
Awww, Bev’s birthday yesterday and Fabi’s birthday tomorrow…birthday fun all around!!! *skips around tossing candy confetti while handing out birthday cake pudding shots* Love you guys! 😀
Oh hey…birthday role call! If y’all want to, post your birthdays…IF you want to. I remember a few birthdays around here, but I can’t believe I never made note of everyone’s before.
lol — Fev — did you do anything nice for your birthday yesterday?
Not really. But a bit of friend time, bit of family time.
Any big plans?
Happy belated birthday Bev!! You have the same birthday as my daughter!!
Happy 50th birthday Fabi. Welcome to the fifty club. 😉
As soon as I finish the Nola Series I’m going to take a look at all these new releases. Also, house full of family visiting that is messing with my reading time.
Happy Birthday to your daughter. Another Taurus.
Hey guys, Relentless by Karen Lynch is free (it’s a good YA-ish PNR) and Bait my M. Mabie is free as well.
Okay…I have my hot tea, I’m wrapped up in my fluffy blanket, and I’m settling in for the night with Dangerous Girls. *rubs hands together*
Agh! *runs around in circles like her hair is on fire* I feel like I’ve been off planet! Finished LHofG and there are sooooo many books to read!!!
Deep breathe…
Bev and Favi – Very, Very Happy Birthday wishes to you both!
Ok! Help. I haven’t read Bully or Until You. I need to choose one right now. I need to know which one to pick first. I’m leaning toward Until You. What think you all? My brain is a bit toasted after LHofG and I’m going to read something super fluffy first, maybe a couple, then I think I’m in the mood for a good bully to ease back into more drama.
Ungh…*sits staring off into space oblivious to peanuts flying and martinis denied or demanded or anything really*
Oh wow Grace – you’ve finished Last Hour of Gann. Well done! I’m still only up to 65%, the bit where … hang on. No. No spoilers. This book is definitely ‘a wild ride’ as someone described it, and I’m still fluvvin it. And I totally get your sitting staring into space thing, after reading that massive, intense book. BTW has anyone read any other books by R.Lee Smith? If so, any good, or is the Gannster a one-off?
Went to see the film Belle this arvo (nope, not Bella, nothing to do with Twilight LOL). 2013 British costume drama. (Put on as a fundraiser by our local hospital auxiliary). Lovely film, based on an inspirational and romantic true story. Beautiful sets and costumes (set in 1770s). Loved it. For all you historical fans out there, highly recommended.
Hmmm. R. Lee Smith’s Land of the Beautiful Dead (released Oct 2015) has got some very encouraging reviews. (Absolute rave reviews on amazon.com ….) But described as ‘erotic horror’. Hmmm, again. *scratches head* Has anyone read it?
Anyhoo, guess I’d better put my head down and finish Last Hour of Gann first. Still got a third to go of this fabulous, exciting, original book. Cookin’ dinner can wait. *puts footrest of chair up and leans back with freshly charged kindle in hand* Ahhhhh…..
Jan130 – Ha Ha Ha! I was so obsessed with the story I missed eating altogether. I just had no idea what time it was. I don’t think I have ever read another book that had my tension built up like that before. It was relentless! I was happy at the end though, that always makes it all worth it. Be sure to post when you are done. I want know what you thought of it (in general unspoilery terms of course).
Grace, you have to read Bully first! Then Until You… Trust me… It’s necessary…
Just catching up on all the comments, not been here for ages..
Amy – they have the ebook in Amazon UK – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Holier-Than-Thou-Laura-Buzo-ebook/dp/B007TGJCNY?ie=UTF8&keywords=holier%20than%20thou&qid=1461842814&ref_=sr_1_5&s=digital-text&sr=1-5
Happy Birthday Fabi!!!!
I hope it is a wonderful day.
Happy birthday Fabi! Hope you get time to lose yourself in an awesome book! And bev, hope you had a good one too!
Grey? You out there? I’m still not done Until You (sidetracked by RL), but guess what, I don’t want to leave this book! I want it to last forever……I could get lost in it forever! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FABI
Happy birthday Fabi!!!! 😀
Happy Birthday Fabi! *more confetti thrown*
8Squee* Yeah, more people loving Until You. Both Bully and Until You, *clutches chest* Gah!
Finished Rush…what to read next???
You need to read endless possibilities next Ela!!
SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just found a nice PNR My Commander by Alanea Alder
Thank you for all the birthday wishes guys. Love y’all!
Happy Birthday Fabi!!! *jumps out of the cake myself* yayyy!!
Oh man, I am totally reading Until You again!
First Line Thursday! I really, really miss Jared… just because…
The blood spills over my bottom lip and onto the floor like a long strip of red pain. Until You by Penelope Douglas *squee*
I shouldn’t… but… it’s Jared…
Grey, I get it! Jared is totally with a re-read (or two)! I just don’t want to leave his world EVER!!
“Aiden, come find me!” My Commander by Alanea Alder
I know I know it’s not great but there’s so much more!
We really need to get Maryse to read Until You. I noticed she did read and review Bully, but there’s just no comparison!
Yeah??? Okay… I will! 🙂
You guys sure are flipping out over it. I’m curious.
Yay Maryse! You will love it, I swear! I’m jumping up and down!!
“Ok….I will watch Sherlock.”
Whoa. Totally unexpected.
Er…
😐
*snort* 😛
Poor bev…..did anyone tell her this is a “book” blog?!? Lol!
Okay here’s my TV… 24 hrs a day:
HGTV (home reno stuff OR Cooking channel). And I really don’t pay attention to the shows much. They just play in the background on an endless loop while I go about my day, (which is mostly blogging or reading). LOL!!!
I just know that if I get involved in a TV series, it will be hard to pull myself away. So what I do, is when I need to do list updates and reading order guide updates… if I know I’ll work on them all day, THEN I put on a show/series and I go to town. 😀
Are you telling me to get off your cloud?
Lol.
Well, I did suggest she might have better luck rec’ing books…cause…you know…we like to read. 🙂
Luffs ya Bev
YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS PNR IS THE NEXT EPIC READ/SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bewitched and Bewildered SERIES BY Alanea Alder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM CRACKING THE ‘EF UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Hello little one. Did you know you’re on private property?”
“Really? I had no idea.” Meryn fudged.
He raised an eyebrow. “The ten foot fence right behind you didn’t give it away?”
― Alanea Alder, My Commander
Bev! Never! We need your around here….after all I would have never read Jellicoe or Written in Red if it wasn’t for you (and your harassment)! Hahaha!
bev has AWESOME book taste, and probably awesome TV taste. And I agree… every once in awhile I need to just indulge in a TV or movie weekend. Refreshes me for my next book-binge.
“Oh God, is this like Silence of the Lambs?” Tears flowed down her face. “I don’t want to go down the hole! I won’t put lotion on the skin! Look at me, you won’t be able to wear my skin, I won’t cover your huge ass!” She wailed.”
― Alanea Alder, My Commander
Ok Ela, you have me intrigued!
I HAVE BETTER GOT YOU INTRIGUED! I HARDLY HAVE AWESOME REC’S YOU ACTUALLY LISTEN TO THEM BEING AWESOME AND READING THEM!
Ela is screaming now. Hahahahahahah!!! She’s INSISTENT. 😛
Seriously Amy? You rec a book, I’m enjoying it, and yet, this is its first line?
FLT:
‘A mark of Destiny,’
Eternal Eden by Nicole Williams
Yeah, it’s not even a sentence. It’s a noun.
Bev, you’ll be happy to know the library FINALLY has Jellicoe Road available. I put it on hold, but it had four requests prior, so it wasn’t until now I could get it.
Ela, okay. I’m convinced. 🙂 That said, ugh, you guys are also making me want to squirrel and re-read Bully and Until You for like, the fifth time. NO SQUIRRELING ALLOWED!
FLT
“The night Teo disappeared started off just like any other.”
Genius by Leopoldo Gout
I ‘was’ reading Eternal Eden but an early scene didn’t sit well with me so I put it down for a bit. Then, before I got back to it, I realized Genius is an ARC coming out in the next few days so I HAD to get to it.
It looks like May is going to have to be my ‘catch up on ARCs’ month. I have several I have to get to that will be releasing in May.
Jan – I read Land of the Beautiful Dead. I loved it. Not quite as much as I loved Gann, but pretty dang close. I needed some fluff & quick reads between the two, though.
Happy birthday Fabi!!! 50 and fabulous. So I gave Bev kisses from a few guys, and I’m giving you the same. Going out on a limb here… Kisses from Aidan & Dario. SMACK!
Don’t have a first line yet… 🙁
Kissies from Aiden and Dario OMG! That’s the awesomenest b-day pressy ever.
Fabi,
*clears throat*
Strawberries for Dessert
Simon vs. The HomoSapiens Agenda
Jellicoe Road
*taps foot*
I’m very happy Tessa. Well, if you like it.
I second the foot tapping for Simon Vs Homosapiens Agenda! Especially for Fabi. Super sweet super funny m/m coming of age. Adored it.
I have had no reading time. I’m still reading I’ll meet You There by Heather Demetrios which is so good.
“The Mitchells’ backyard was packed, full of recent and not-so-recent grads in various stages of party decay.”
FLT: “All the best things in life have started with a Dolly Parton song.” – Dumplin’
Have so much work to do, but need just a little reading reward.
*Gasp*
Yay!!
I’m totally putting Jolene on as u cook dinner.
I LOVE the “Jolene” cover by Miley Cyrus. Don’t laugh!!! LOL! She does it so well…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOwblaKmyVw
That should be I cook dinner.
All of a sudden I imagined myself standing outside MichelleS window blaring Jolene as she cooks dinner.
Ha! Is that you out there, Bev?
Who here gets as excited as Bev does when we read one of their recommendations? For that alone, I’d watch Sherlock.
Beeeev, I’m making progress. I read WiR. I’ve had Simon on my tbr for a while now. Just waiting on that YA mood to strike. I added JR to my tbr a few days ago *grumbles “even though it’s going to make me cry”*. And…Strawberries for Dessert is just going to have to wait because … Because … well, because.
I will hae Jolene running through my head for days now. That is the catchiest tune. uuuuggggghhhh but :-)))))
Ela – Oh my goodness…SOLD! I’m reading that book!
Grey – Ok! Bully first, but I’m looking at all these books after Bully. Do I have to read those first too?
Maryse – Uh….ummm
*raises hand while shyly looking at the floor*
Just gotta say Sherlock is not the same time investment as a regular TV series. A whole season is only a few episodes. You should really consider at least trying the first episode. Between books is a brilliant idea.
*Puts hand and down and tries to become invisible*
Thank you for the Sherlock update, Grace. I do need to catch up on some updating of old lists, so maybe this show will be exactly what I should watch as I copy paste. 🙂
FLT:
“Sitting up, I dragged the towel over my skin, hoping I got all of Phil off of me.” No Quarter (NOLA’s Own Series Book 2) by Kelli Jean.
Almost done with book 2 than on to book 3. I feel like when reading a series I have trouble keeping up with the comments and looking at all the new shiny releases. Especially when I have family visiting. :>
Oh, that’s sweet Grace. If only I were a hugger.
Tessa, give that muggle a huggle.
Fabi…..mmhmm.
In my head it sounds exactly like her. Then I open my mouth to sing and nope.
You make me laugh MichelleS.
I just hope Dumplin works for you.
I am tempted to read Dumplin right now too!!!! Bought it back in the olden days before I started LHofGann. Was that just the start of this week? I’m thinking Ela’s lines have got me seriously on the hook, but THEN Dumplin. Best laid plans and all that jazz!
*sneak-attack hugs Bev*
😛
*runs away cackling*
Couldn’t resist it. Rough day and I NEEDED some fun!
HAPPY FREAKING BIRTHDAY FABI!!!!!!! Luffs ya! 😀
Tessa…you oughta know by know that I’m not prone to getting good first lines! But you’re liking it? Just thought you should know…I’m starting the Original Sinners series this weekend. Even though NOLA didn’t exactly work for me, you got me in the mood for a rock star book. 😉
First line Thursday:
“
Um, yeah…let’s try that again…
“DISPATCHER: Hallo, hoe gaat het ermee?” ~ Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas
See, Tessa? *points at first line*
Amy’s hugs.

I’m sorry your day was rough.
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That was perfect, Bev!!! 😀
It was just an energy-sapping and brain-draining day for me, and then I had to go and act like an immature brat when I made a very rude comment to another classmate.
At least she won’t be trying to answer for the teacher anymore though. 😛
*late-hugs* Amy and prepares martinis for my book-girls tonight… I think we’ll all need one. Or 3.
That WAS perfect Bev.
Amy 🙁 so sorry about your day. But you’re home now and lots of good books are waiting to cheer you up. Are you really reading Original Sinners this weekend? I’ve been telling Jean I’m reading it next, next, next…but my reading has been all over the place lately. I need a nudge.
Read it with me, Fabi!!!! We’ll have some plum wine or rhubarb wine and huddle up in the blankie fort with the lantern lights plugged in and have birthday brownies and loaded nachos!! 😀
Awww that sounds like a lovely weekend!
So, playing devil’s advocate and all… Original Sinners isn’t a rock book. Sinners on Tour is. 😛 Though Amy… *hugs* At least you shut the snotty one up.
*huggles Grace, cause Bev said too*
I like the Hallo first line more. Mine is a title, not a line. 😛
At 93% but it just keeps going. I adore Patrick. He’s awesome. There are some majorly cheesy lines, but I actually LIKED the learning part. I just want to know the thing they MUST (right. they gotta) reveal at the end.
Oooohhhh wait wait wait Amy are you reading Sinners on Tour or Original Sinners? Yes to the first one. Pass on the 2nd cause I already read it.
Tessa I got stuck on that first scene when Ben and Troy made their first appearance……..I got so mad at everyone involved I had to walk away for a while.
Sinners on Tour!! I meant SoT…I still want to read Original Sinners but I wanted the rock star book right now.
Alright, that shows how long it’s been since I read Eden…who were Ben and Troy? Did they show up after the big, devastating “announcement” that had to do with the bad guy? I think his name was John?
Now I need to go U archive that book on my Nook so I can figure it out…
OMG, Maryse! I re-read your review of Bully, and you asked some seriously needed to know questions that Until You answered. Oh, and looking back, that review was why I read the book to begin with. 🙂 And! It was the first review I read on here.
*unarchive
Stupid autocorrect.
Okay, I pulled it up and NOW I remember them. Meanies.
But…but…now I’m wondering what you need revealed, Tessa? *scratches head* Oh, and Patrick has a couple of books of his own after the three Eden books. Pure Patrick awesomeness. 😉
Nah Amy that’s why I didn’t mention the scene to you earlier, I figured you’d read it a while back.
Did you guys see that the ENTIRE Evan Arden series is on sale for $0.99???
∆∆∆ that’s a good deal ∆∆∆
Awesome series.
Wow you’re fast Amy lol
Looks up, smiles Huge at Tessa cause hugs are nice. Then smiles at Bev because virtual hugs are nicer since there’s no touching. Then blows a big vertical air kiss to Ela. Then buries her face back in the e-reader cackling like a banshee cause Meryn from My Commander is absolutely HYSTERICAL!
“Virtual” Air Kiss! I have no idea what a “vertical” air kiss would be, but I bet Meryn would have a great line for it!
Fabi…I have a Nook app on my iPad. 😉
Sorry, hit submit too soon…what I meant was that my Nook app can bring up all of the books I have on my Nook.
Grace, the order of books for the the Falling Away series is #1 Bully, #2 Until You, #3 Rival, #4 Falling Away, #5 Aflame. Obviously, my number one in this series is Until You… I liked ALL of them. Honestly all of them, but Jared’s book was my favorite.
I’ve been reading the Pretty Little Liars books… but they’re kind of cutesy and I need something dark… eep. haha!
I totally get why Ela was screaming about My Commander – Bewitched and Bewildered Series by Alanea Alder. The book is hysterical, but not just that. It’s amusing all the way through so the smile stays on your face throughout the entire book. There are times you are gut busting belly laughing, and then times when it’s so lovely I found myself crying, but good crying, happy crying, touching moment kind of crying. Then back to laughing. The paranormal world she creates is great. The story is great. The characters are really great. The sexy times are great. Listen to Ela! Read it! She was so right! I also highly recommend it if you are coming off of something really angsty and full of tension and need to recover a bit. I’ve moved on to the second book and it’s just what I wanted too. New lead characters for the love story, but all the old ones are there being themselves, which we’ve already established is them being really great!
My favorite book quote ever came from Until You… god, this book… wrecked me. FLove it!!!
Grey! Thank you!
I obviously didn’t look closely. I looked up Bully saw all the others listed as a series and planned to come back to them later, then after your posts I looked up Until You directly by its title and did not make the connection! I thought it was a different series. You just sorted me right out. I’m going to buy them both right now and read them in order. Thank you!!! Oh, I said that. Well, it bared repeating.
It’s ok. I just get super excited about it when someone wants to read one of my all time book faves. Jean!!! I’m so thrilled you’re loving it!! Maryse, you should be next, you and Grace could buddy read!! *tra la la*
I think Jellicoe Road might be on a bit of a sale.
Jan, what did you think of WiR?
Tessa, I have to go back and read Maryse’s Bully review. Seriously, I can’t even think about starting another book right now. Until You left me in such a state…..I just loved it so much!!!!!
Sinners on Tour! Yay! Amy and Fabi, you will love these guys!
My Commander…..maybe that will be next for me……
You guys, I’m so excited about your recent book love. Now I’m back to squirreling. I thought I had my next one all picked out… *sigh*

Wait not recommender but listener of recommendations???
Ugh Maryse! I know the feeling! But please read Until You! You won’t be disappointed!
Ela – I got ya! I am very much enjoying book 2 right now. I absolutely plan to read Bully and Until you, but I am not at all ready to break away from Lyconia myself.
No spoilers, but that trip to the drug store in the first book! Oh my goodness I was laughing like crazy. I love that old man!
Incoming *tosses peanut* Come on Maryse… all the cool kids are doing it *giggle* is it too early for this kind of innuendo… UNTIL YOU!!!!
Maryse – Resistance is futile!!!
Haaa Ha Ha Ha!!!!! Ela why did she even say that when she was the resister? Big snort for that one!
Tee hee!!! You guys are brats and very convincing ones, at that!
Resister one? The one resisting!!!
Amy, you know what else we have to read? Oblivion
I think I have mini-strokes every time I scroll through my tbr.
I haven’t read Oblivion either…
Why haven’t we read Oblivion?
Tessa, you haven’t either. I swear I’m hyperventilating. It still sitting inmy “Read Next” tbr. You’d think that if I put something in THAT category, I’d get it fairly quickly right? *bangs head against desk*
You haven’t either was supposed to be a question. I forgot the ?????????????????????????????????????????????????
Yup, I’m taking a break from typing. It’s not working so well right now.
OMG GRACE! THAT DRUG STORE SCENE WAS EPIC!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS CRACKING THE EF UP!
YES! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!!!!!
I completely agree Maryse. Miley’s is an excellent remake of Jolene.
Here’s one of Dolly and Miley together

Hey I haven’t read Oblivion yet either! We should BR!!
Right?! We could have an Oblivion Friday night. 😉
Oblivion Friday night… that sounds like a martini kind of bad idea all the way around *giggle* — I’m totally in…
*snuggles into Maryse* Hugs are hugs are hugs, no matter the timing. See Bev’s pic link above. *snort*
Are we talking about Daemon’s Oblivion?
‘Cause…um…I’ve already read it…
Fabi!! WTH??? Did you forget about the Sinners?
Oh Fabi… you can’t forget about the Sinners… mmmm, bad boys right there…Brian, Sed, Jace, Trey, Eric… yum, watchety yum, slurpity yum, spankety yum, and double yum haha! (Imma gonna let you figure out which yums belong to which *giggle*)
“slurpity yum” <——– OMG… *snorrrrt!*
Double Yum is obviously Trey and Spankety Yum is Jace. 😛 Watchety Yum is Eric. Don’t know which gets the other two.
Ummm I can’t start oblivion tonight. I’m already sitting at a bar!
See, I’m not sure which one deserves Slurpity, Brian or Sed. Sed is the one that’s sexiest, but I don’t know.
Oh my god, y’all are killing me hahaha
Amy, no, nope, I didn’t forget about the Sinners. How could I? (Read comments above) lol
I thought you hadn’t read Oblivion either so I was think O Friday night and S Sat and Sun. But, hey, Jean’s already at the bar so she has a jumpstart on Oblivion too. 😉
Oh man, Jean…I wish we weren’t on opposite sides of the country because I would SO be there with you right now. 😉
Yep Fabi, I’ve read it…in fact, it had been a while since I read the first three books in the Lux series so I actually had Oblivion open on my iPad and the Lux books open on my Nook so I could refresh my memory about her POV in scenes that are in Oblivion. Damn, it was fun. 😛
Amy! I wish you were sitting right next to me! In fact, I wish you were all here with me!
I’m 91% on Last Hour of Gann. Man that is a big book. Hopefully I’ll find time today to finish it. I really like it. What a crazy adventure of a book.
As LHoG is pretty full-on and intense, I did take a break in the middle. (Does anyone else do that too?) Took time out to read Bev’s fav Written In Red. My first Anne Bishop. Great storyline, but a couple of things did gross me out. Wolf shifters that eat humans? Really? Also, the whole cassandra sangue thing I find a bit too confronting – what she actually has to do to do her thang – those who’ve read it know what I mean. (I don’t like giving spoilers). But it was a great, imaginative, exciting story with terrific characters. Would have liked a bit more romance, though. I’d like to read more, guess, till I looked at the PRICES of the books!! Marked in Flesh is 19.99 Australian dollars. Ouch!! Sorry Ms Bishop, I didn’t like the series THAT much. Maybe the library has some of the series? I’ll check.
In the meantime, my next read might be My Commander. Or Bully?
Bully, Bully, Bully, Bully! *waves pompoms and throws peanuts* Then Until You *throws MORE peanuts* Squeeee!
Jan, that’s how I found Anne Bishop to begin with. It was an oooh, this is a pretty cover type thing. 🙂
Yeh. WIR was five aussie bucks, Fine. Great price. The other *Others* are all over ten bucks. Ok, lots of kindle books are these days, (not that I like it…) but Marked in Flesh, twenty bucks on kindle. Really???
Jan130! I am absolutely going to read Bully and Until You, but after LHofGann I just needed something that wasn’t upsetting and didn’t make me stabby! My husband actually asked me to STOP telling him about the book as I was reading it. He’s never ever done that before. He said he couldn’t take it.
I am loving The Commander – Bewitched and Bewildered Series so much right now. It’s perfect for shaking off the after effects of such an epic drama! I didn’t stop in the middle to recoup like you did though. You may be in better shape than I was coming out. So you might be ready for the others.
Just being helpful – not trying to sway choices or upset peanut throwers. Especially any who have started drinking! LOL!
Happy reading everyone!
Holy cow! Slurpity yum???? Watchity yum I get, spankity yum makes sense, but, yeah, ummm interesting.
LOL!!! How did I miss THAT conversation… naming of the sinner-yums. NICE!!!!!!! 😛
I’m gonna say Brian is sharity-experimenty-yum
Maryse, you’ve read Sinners on Tour?
Fabi. Heck yes! I read Backstage Pass back in 2011 – it was my first contemporary romance read after my HUGE paranormal-only obsession, and I fell for rock stars HARD! I also read #2, and liked it also, but Brian was my first “real-guy” crush (as opposed to immortals). LOL!
Oooh, Sharity Yum is perfect. Making Jed Slurpity Yum?
I love these descriptions of the Sinners, especially since they are so fresh in my mind!
