<— LOOKIT!!! Over Us, Over You: A Novel by Whitney G. is READY for us and it sounds AHMAZZZZZING!!! Unrequited love? He was just *ahem* withhis best friend’s little sister, and he’s stopping it, immediately!

“…Just in case you’ve forgotten, you’re my best friend’s little sister. We will never be anything more. (We can’t be anything more.) Our previous friendship is still unresolved–or “over” in your terms, so I’d prefer if we worked on becoming ‘just friends’ again since you’re in town.

Nonetheless, I’m not a man who leaves questions unanswered–even the drunken ones, so to properly close our inappropriate conversation:

1) Yes, I liked the way your lips felt against mine when you were on top of me.
2) Yes, I do “prefer” rough sex, but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t rough with you.
3) No, I had no idea you were still a virgin…

This message never happened,

AND!!!!! BRITTAINY CHERRY’S LATEST IS LIVE!!!! Behind the Bars sounds like so much angsty love (and how I LOVE this author!!!) … ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔

“…Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognizedthe sadness in her. Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again.

When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops. When we met again, I became her darkest storm…”

AND!!!!! S.L. SCOTT’S LATEST, Everest and I have a HUGE crush on that cover. ;) Second chance romance with an alpha-billionaire?

“Ethan Everest stole my breath the first time I saw him. He romanced me with skill, dazzled me with his charisma, and proceeded to steal my heart right after.

I might have fallen for his easy-going smile the first time we met, but I fell for him the second time.”

SQUEEEEE!!!! :D IT’S NEW RELEASE TUESDAY and there are a bunch on here that are making me squirrel in excitement!

<— Like that one right there to the left. Roomies by Christina Lauren is calling my name!!! She’s been secretly crushing on a subway musician, and one night, he ends up saving her. But wait! There’s more. ;) Tee hee!! Talk about a blurb jolt. Oh I hope that it has a nice slow burn for me to indulge in, and I think it’s just what the book-doctor ordered!!

But then again… these gave me a blurb jolt too: Year One by Nora Roberts… true it’s quite pricey (YIKES!), but I used to love sinking into her worlds, and losing myself in them, and this one sounds crazy-scary-exciting (and of course… I don’t doubt it’s heavy on the romance). ;) It’s post-apocalyptic… a sickness wiped out the world as we know it, and supernatural powers have been discovered: “Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max. Some of it is unimaginably evil, and it can lurk anywhere, around a corner, in fetid tunnels beneath the river—or in the ones you know and love the most.“ Wolf Hunger (SWAT Book 7) (this blurb made me LOL!!! He’s excited he’s found his mate, and she’s a were too, so he doesn’t have to do the whole “I’m a werewolf” explanation except… There’s just one problem: Lana doesn’t know that she’s a werewolf…” <— HAHA!! Plus that cover is hot. ;)  Only for You (by Melissa Foster! She’s crushing on her stand-offish hot new military neighbor, and they get close… and then he gets deployed. Ugh… that ALWAYS gets me), Can’t Get Enough (go DEFINITELY the latest romance by Gena Showalter! She escaped an abusive relationship and wants nothing to do with men, especially not the scary “brawler” she keeps seeing, but she wants a baby… “Turns out, the brawler who used to frighten her with only a glance is the answer to her problems.  She agrees to his proposal, with a caveat: spend every night in bed with her, then walk away for good when it’s time to divorce. Even if she’s pregnant...” <— HEARTBREAK ALERT!!! Oh and for crazy-sounding twisty-blurbs, this one from the bargain section: Method 15/33 (she’s a pregnant teen and she’s kidnapped… but her kidnappers don’t realize she’s a psychopath, herself… sounds like a psych-thriller/vigilante type and I one-clicked it SO hard!)

P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

Maryse December 5, 2017 at 7:13 AM

Good morning Nay!!!!!

GAH! You’re having a round few days, my friend. I will be there with you in spirit. ;)

Nay December 5, 2017 at 7:57 AM

Thank you! And after I got it all set up, they tell me ‘he doesn’t use gas’. Whaaat? How can you get a root canal without gas? They told me, “Today’s techniques make it much less uncomfortable.”

Uh, I don’t know if I believe that. We shall see! lol

Wonder if I can listen to an audio book while he works?

Leslie M December 5, 2017 at 8:00 AM

*repeats mantra*

Must not look at shinies

Must not look at shinies

Nay December 5, 2017 at 8:20 AM

Leslie–I just bought The Coppersmith Farmhouse! I’m using that as my challenge book–thanks for the suggestion!!

bev December 5, 2017 at 8:21 AM

You know who likes shinies?

bev December 5, 2017 at 8:22 AM

*kicks Coppersmith Farmhouse*

Nay December 5, 2017 at 8:23 AM

I’ll read WIR next week (ish)…

Maryse December 5, 2017 at 8:29 AM

LOL bev!!!!

*dusts off Coppersmith Farmhouse*

Here Nay. ;)

*snuggles bev* Tee hee!!!

bev December 5, 2017 at 8:33 AM

Mmhmm. I’m just saying the ponies remember and they will not be happy.

kooloo December 5, 2017 at 8:38 AM

Bev!!! Does “Black Swan Affair” count for colour challenge??
It’s on my started-but-need-to-get-back-to TBR list! lol

bev December 5, 2017 at 9:36 AM

Yes, it does. Actually anything really. It was just away to trim down the tbr.
I, of course, have fallen woefully behind. I am reading a book a month but buying 3.

Tessa December 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM

No Bev. Puppies remember… and like special meat.

Leslie M December 5, 2017 at 11:52 AM

Nay, I saw that one on your TBR and thought it would be perfect for challenge. Everyone on GR went crazy over that one and it seemed very you. I havent tried it as it might be a little too KA-ish for my finicky taste.

Amy December 5, 2017 at 12:34 PM

Oh crap, bev is kicking books now. *shoves Nay toward the courtyard*

Manny has a Santa hat on!!! I have to get that sweater.

I’m so enamored with with Until It Fades that I’m only slightly tempted by a couple up there. That should tell y’all something. ;)

Nay December 5, 2017 at 1:11 PM

Wow! Until it Fades is really THAT good? And did you say it’s just female pov?? That’s what I want only always!!!

I’m going to the courtyard–just have to take a little detour at a farmhouse along the way.

Amy December 5, 2017 at 1:15 PM

Yes, it’s her POV only and THAT is what makes it feel so real. We have NO idea what’s going on with him or in his head, so we get to experience all the emotions with her. :D

Nay December 5, 2017 at 1:35 PM

Love, love, love that!!!

Nay December 5, 2017 at 1:37 PM

Oh no! Kooloo gave it the kiss of death for me in her review–’light’ and ‘cute’. The only think worse than that is ‘sweet’. I better read the sample before I commit.

Grey December 5, 2017 at 1:56 PM

*waves* I want a Manny sweater! And a mermaid Blanket! *stomps back to the blankie fort* Hmph!

*peeks out* Good luck, Nay! I hope all went well today!!!

Nay December 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM

It did. Thanks, Grey! The easiest dental work I’ve ever had done. I think my body is just numb by now! lol

Cindy December 5, 2017 at 3:21 PM

Hey Maryse! Do you have a listing of recommended AMAZON Prime reads? If not, can you possible add something for either the Tuesday or Friday lists?

I noticed that Left Drowning by Jessica Park is currently a Prime read and I would definitely recommend it to our fellow readers.

Jean December 5, 2017 at 4:03 PM

OK, I need help from you guys to settle a dispute with regard to that new one up there, Captivated by Him by Terri Laine. My girlfriend swears it is the same model as the first book, Because of Him. I totally disagree! I messaged the author on GR and haven’t gotten a response! I know you ladies are slick at finding info so I’d appreciate your help!

My TBR is growing and growing and growing……

Cheryl December 5, 2017 at 4:22 PM

Finished reading On The Way To You. BTW, it was all in her POV. However, there were some “glimpses” into his thoughts. LOVED it, and maybe would have been a 5* star, but I felt the ending resolved too quickly and was not enough. Otherwise, great feels and the writing was so beautiful.

“Emery was like a firework with the fuse burnt all the way down to the end, momentarily paused, temporarily safe — and I didn’t know if he would remain in tact or blow to bits if I took even one step closer.”

Jean December 5, 2017 at 4:30 PM

Good to hear Cheryl! And I’m loving A Love Letter to Whiskey!

Jan December 5, 2017 at 5:20 PM

Haha. I love that Manny sweater. Who thinks of these things? And then actually makes them????

I’m reading and liking Roomies. Bit of a slow burn. Hot Irish musician H and a marriage of convenience. Set in NYC in the world of music/bands/musical theatre. Nice.

Don’t hate on me bev, but I didn’t like Written In Red that much………. never read any of the sequels – well – they are pretty pricy. But it just wasn’t really for me. Well written (in red LOL) but some*things* I didn’t like. Don’t want to give spoilers here.

Jean December 5, 2017 at 5:29 PM

Ut oh….Jan you better hide! Lol! I liked it, but didn’t continue with the series because #2 was pricey. But somehow i got #3 on sale. Does anyone know if book 2 is lendable (WiR series)???

Tessa December 5, 2017 at 6:12 PM

Sorry, they aren’t. I just went to check. It’s not at your library? That’s how I originally read them. Random “this looks interesting” grab.

Melinda December 5, 2017 at 6:24 PM

Oooooooh Jan, keep us updated. That’s my next read. I love that author.

And Jean, I read A Love Letter to Whiskey and really enjoyed it.

I’m reading scandalous ( sinners of saint book 4) it’s good but nothing to write home about.

My Tbr is getting bigger and bigger and bigger and then someone suggests a book and I say yeah “that sounds good” one click, one click.
And now I have kindle unlimited it’s just getting worse.

MichelleS December 5, 2017 at 6:37 PM

I’ve been KU-ing it for a while now. I like that I’m spending a set amount no matter how little or how much I read. My current read is a KU book – second in the series “Beautiful Monsters” – oh yes they are! Demons & Vampires & Oracles, oh my! Gritty. Not pretty. Still have no clue who the good guys are. Everyone is so freaking wicked.

MichelleS December 5, 2017 at 6:39 PM

Melinda – I read all the Sinners of Saint. Enough to keep me interested at the time, but now I don’t remember names or plots. You know how some books just STAY with you? Yea, I’d like to end the year with one of THOSE.

bev December 5, 2017 at 6:40 PM

I am so disillusioned Jan.

I …I don’t know what to do.

*pushes Jan out*

I just can’t.

*locks door*.

Like Elvis Jan has left the building.

MichelleS December 5, 2017 at 6:41 PM

Oh, and I read three of The Others – starting with Written in a Red. Well written, yes. Great characters, yes. Cool world building & plot, yes. My hangup? No hanky panky! Bite her already! Do something!!! I guess I just need a little sumthin’ sumthin’ in the romance department.

Cheryl December 5, 2017 at 6:57 PM

Bev, Bev, Bev!!! I’m sitting here LOUDLY snort-laughing!!! :>

bev December 5, 2017 at 7:37 PM

Cheryl, I haven’t forgotten that you haven’t read them.

Nay December 5, 2017 at 7:39 PM

Jean–it looks like the same guy to me. Beside the face, the ears and the tip of the nose look the same. Ooh, and I LOVED A Love Letter to Whiskey! The kind of angst I’m crazy about!

Nay December 5, 2017 at 7:45 PM

Jan–yes, please do keep us updated! Is Roomies single or dual POV? I think I’m going to start asking that about every book.

Amy December 5, 2017 at 8:12 PM

Nay…Jan can’t answer you because bev just kicked her a$$ outta here!! *falls over cackling*

Amy December 5, 2017 at 8:13 PM

“Bite her already! Do something!!!”

OMG you guys are killin’ me right now…holy moly, it’s like old times around here! :P

Amy December 5, 2017 at 8:17 PM

I miss other Michelle and Fabi. :(

bev December 5, 2017 at 8:27 PM

Hey, I didn’t make the rules.

bev December 5, 2017 at 8:28 PM

I do too.

Tessa December 5, 2017 at 10:34 PM

Jean, it looks like the same model to me too, but just weird shadows trying to distort his features.

Michelle, eventually something happens… Kind of…

Jan December 5, 2017 at 10:38 PM

*shouts from outside* Roomies is single pov (from her pov). It’s first person present tense which isn’t my fav way of presenting a story. I’m at 45% and still in. Liking but not yet *loving*

Mommy, can I come back inside now? I’ll be real good.

Jan December 5, 2017 at 10:42 PM

Michele S – YES! that was a problem for me with WiR too – not enough romance. Haha WiR can mean a ‘walk-in robe’ in real-estate speak in Australia.

But it wasn’t just that. There were *other* (ahem) aspects that I wasn’t keen on as well.

*knocks loudly on door* MOMMY! LET ME IN!

Kooloo December 5, 2017 at 10:49 PM

*walks in house – slams the door shut – kicks off winter boots – leaves jacket on the floor – runs to the bedroom – jumps on the bed and grabs the iPad*

Ahhhhhh it’s time to start Roomies!

See you in the morning peeps

bev December 5, 2017 at 11:14 PM

Maryse, the door. It’s for you.

Amy December 6, 2017 at 12:12 AM

Grey December 6, 2017 at 1:36 AM

*snort* omg, you girls are on fire!

Nay December 6, 2017 at 6:47 AM

Melinda December 6, 2017 at 6:55 AM

ROFL. You guys, killing me seriously.

Let’s Jan back in. Because she was banging so loudly.

Amy December 6, 2017 at 8:01 AM

At this point, bev is going to make Jan take the Jellicoe road to the courtyard before she lets her back in. *snicker*

MichelleS December 6, 2017 at 8:47 AM

Walk in robe??? We call that a walk in closet, as it should be! No – a closet is not a bathroom….

MichelleS December 6, 2017 at 8:48 AM

If a robe is a closet, then what do you guys call that thing you wrap around yourself when it’s cold? Get my robe out of the robe?

MichelleS December 6, 2017 at 8:49 AM

Bev’sgonna double down on the Simons and make everybody read about Homosapiens & Others.

bev December 6, 2017 at 9:38 AM

A robe in a robe…..*snort*

If you want to visit Narnia you need a wardrobe not a closet.

Thems the rules people. You walk down the Jellicoe Road to the Courtyard to come in here.
It’s posted everywhere.

bev December 6, 2017 at 9:39 AM

And Fabi didn’t like Simon.

But she’s not here.

Let us eat Oreo cookies and talk about her.

Amy December 6, 2017 at 10:34 AM

I think Fabi has gone missing because someone locked her out and sent her packing down Jellicoe Road.

Just sayin’.

Leslie M December 6, 2017 at 10:35 AM

Ugh! You guys know how much I hate death in my books right?? I think I just stumbled on one where h’s father is dying. I dont mind angst & relationship heartbreak, but I dont want death. :(

Tessa December 6, 2017 at 10:44 AM

But the wardrobe is a freestanding peice of furniture. It’s not a closet. Unless it leads to Narnia, you don’t walk in a wardrobe; it’s too small.

What do they call robes?

Amy December 6, 2017 at 11:07 AM

I also think someone stole Fabi’s Oreos and that’s why they are being offered to us right now.

Ela December 6, 2017 at 11:50 AM

Leslie M December 6, 2017 at 12:43 PM

Congrats on your new home Ela!!!

Nay December 6, 2017 at 1:26 PM

Congrats, Ela!

Tasha J December 6, 2017 at 1:43 PM

Just watched the first episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, it’s available on Amazon prime and it kept popping up in my news feed, related to Gilmore Girls or something. Anyway, very different and I really liked it. And I looked it up and it’s the same creator of Gimore Girls so that must be why. Lol On to the next episode!

Grey December 6, 2017 at 1:55 PM

I thought we decided that Fabi was getting married to her ex’s twin brother that had amnesia from a car accident… *sips tea*

Jean December 6, 2017 at 1:59 PM

Hi Ela! Congrats, so exciting!

I’m just waiting for Fabi to finally make an appearance and seeing all these comments about her!

I love that we finally got our bev back!!!!

Amy December 6, 2017 at 2:27 PM

Yes, and our MichelleS. ;)

Actually, I think FABI has amnesia and has been out wandering on Jellicoe Road trying to find the courtyard and wondering what happened to her Oreos, with a niggling in the back of her mind about someone named Simon.

Thoughts, bev? PLEASE give your thoughts…crappy day and I need a pick-me-up. *puts hands together in prayer*

Amy December 6, 2017 at 2:28 PM

Congrats Ela!! :D

Tessa December 6, 2017 at 2:36 PM

Congrats Ela!

Nope. Fabi wandered over to Fallen Crest where she met someone Corrupt. She asked about the Courtyard. He took her to Eagle Elite University where an alien named Damon came to save her. They have since been having a mad affair, however now the government is after then to do tests on them. Something about a bond? Not sure.

Amy December 6, 2017 at 2:37 PM

LMAO!!! That was perfect!!

Amy December 6, 2017 at 2:38 PM

Oh sh!t…I just hit a *GASP* part in Until It Fades and I have to stop because of stupid work and I’m freaking out because I thought it was safe at this point in the book!! ARRRRRGH!!

Leslie M December 6, 2017 at 3:08 PM

Oooh, Amy…I wonder if your gasp part is thing that made me love that book more?! *squee* I never seem to get to love same books as you, so this is making me extra happy!!

Amy December 6, 2017 at 3:12 PM

Never mind. I snuck away (don’t worry about the excuse I gave to do that :P ) and finished UiF. All is well here.

Actually, it’s perfect. PERFECT. Everything is beautiful and perfect because of that book. I LOVED IT! :D

Gotta love mood swings, too. *snort*

Amy December 6, 2017 at 3:19 PM

It probably was the same part, Tessa. I know what you mean, because everything that happened around that part made me adore it even more.

Score another one for books we both loved!

Amy December 6, 2017 at 3:23 PM

OMG I meant you Leslie, not Tessa.

Not that I’m ignoring Tessa.

I’m making this awkward, aren’t I?

Jean December 6, 2017 at 3:23 PM

Ugh! I have to read that now Amy! Don’t know why I only have the audible version…..I don’t do audible! Must have been a drunken click one night! Lol!

Leslie M December 6, 2017 at 3:39 PM

Jean, I have accidentally sober clicked two Audibles in the last month. (Can’t even use alcohol as excuse) *snort* If you contact them via live chat, they will refund you.

bev December 6, 2017 at 3:45 PM

I love that we have all these stories about Fabi, lol.

It makes me not feel so alone with how my imagination works.

bev December 6, 2017 at 3:50 PM

Over on GR I guessed that Fabi met a new man:–silver-foxes-men-older-mens-fashion.jpg

He is very persistent, bit Fabi is not sure.
Because her ex came back.

bev December 6, 2017 at 3:51 PM

20 years ago Fabi went through a wild child period. She was hanging at biker bars. She was at the bar and a song came on just as he walked through the door.

bev December 6, 2017 at 3:53 PM

The song:

There eyes met and she just knew he was it for her. At 30 she became a biker babe.

bev December 6, 2017 at 3:55 PM
bev December 6, 2017 at 3:55 PM

But oh he made her laugh.

It’s her biggest turn on.

bev December 6, 2017 at 3:57 PM

10 years ago Fabi knew it was time to go home.

And now her old man is back again. He wants her on the back of his bike.

This is why she is so busy.

Amy December 6, 2017 at 4:00 PM

Drunk clicks!! Gotta love those, too!

Yes Jean, you must must MUST read this one. :D

Amy December 6, 2017 at 4:01 PM

*snort* bev…

Luffs you.

bev December 6, 2017 at 4:03 PM

Tasha, I am so going to be trying that. Thanks.

Tasha J December 6, 2017 at 4:49 PM

Yay, I think you’ll really like it. It’s binge worthy. I watched all of episode 2 before the boy stole my show for Jurassic World. I get to send them off soon and then I have to start wrapping some gifts. If I’m not too exhausted I’ll watch 1 more tonight. Busy, busy tomorrow too. Is December over yet??
Btw Contgrats Ela!! Putting all the stuff away blows, but I always feel so much better getting to sort all the stuff I can do without and putting things in their place. Like blowing through a tbr. Sifting out the stuff that doesn’t interest you anymore and finally reading some that have been there for too long. ;) lol

Grey December 6, 2017 at 5:08 PM

*giggle* Hi Maryse! You’re probably wondering why us maniacs have taken over your blog again… We love you! *tosses glitter*

Tessa December 6, 2017 at 5:52 PM

Lol I’m the type that would see the stuff needing to be put away and squee in excitement because now I would get to decorate!

Bev, you forgot to mention that he had to get to her quickly because the first guy is in the Russian mob and had a hit on her as revenge against her ex’s club.

Tasha J December 6, 2017 at 6:31 PM

Remember when everyone was posting their first world problems? Well, here’s mine for the day: I forgot I had to get the teacher a gift this year, so I searched Pinterest for ideas and they had some cups printed with a name, saying and what not. I have family members that do that so I thought that may be the way to go. Then I start thinking I have so many cups, everyone does and no one wants any more cups really. A throw away cup, maybe. Coffee. Starbucks. Or hot coco, tea, something there would be good. A gift certificate! But, that would look a little lonely, what to pair it with? Not a cup. :P So, I thought maybe bath and body works? I saw some pintrest ideas for that…(I’ve not been in b&b for years) So I go and I’m overwhelmed with all the stuff! So I think hand soap is something that gets used and likely won’t sit on a shelf for years barely touched. Do you know how many hand soaps there are?? Holiday scents, regular, aromatherapy, some bee stuff, etc. But what does twisted peppermint even smell like? What’s this bee stuff like? I ponder and then test out about 4 diff. Ones in the sink. 1 was horrid I say, the twisted peppermint. Bleh! Anyway, I decide on the gingerbread latte (goes with the Starbucks gift card, lol) and then I think maybe a hand lotion to match so it doesn’t look silly in the bag. Then, I ask the nice lady working ‘what would be a good gift for a teacher, you think?’ She says we have candles on sale or sometimes people do sanitizer, hmmm… and I say I got a Starbucks gift card and hold up the soap. Is this weird? It doesn’t go together does it? And she says, oh no, lots of people use…soap. At least I hope they do! That’s a good one. It wasn’t that convincing, but I bought it anyway. And it’s in a nice bag with the gift certificate. And that is the kind of crap that goes through my head on a daily basis, about everything! I swear, the time I waste thinking about silly stuff like that!

bev December 6, 2017 at 7:14 PM

Yes, and don’t let age fool you. He may now be 80 bit he is a mother @!$%^#* badass.

bev December 6, 2017 at 7:16 PM

Tasha, I can do the same in those situations. I am always sure I’m making a social blunder. As if others have the secret but I dont.
It has gotten a tiny bit better with age and being out more. A bit.

Cheryl December 6, 2017 at 8:18 PM

Ela, congrats on the house!

Takes an Uber to Jan’s and then drives down Jellicoe Road and cuts across the courtyard to Maryse’s and when she opens the door, cries on her shoulder about Bev being a meany!!! And then Maryse lets us back in!! *then we all puppy pile on Bev*

Cheryl December 6, 2017 at 8:19 PM

Tasha I do the same thing. I over-think what should be the simplest things.

bev December 6, 2017 at 8:22 PM

Hey. That’s just not nice. Cheryl has a dark side.

Cheryl December 6, 2017 at 8:28 PM

Welcome to the dark side, Bev!

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:32 PM

Grey I have missed so much in the last two days, and I’m THRILLED you guys took over. By all means, do it anytime you wanna. Now I’m backtracking on the comments. It appears there was fun that was had!!!! :P

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:35 PM

*squeeee AMY!!!!!*

RIGHT??? Riiiiiiiiiiiigggghhhtt???

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:37 PM

K.A. Tucker is subtly sneaky with her angsty twists. ;) I do love her style.

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:37 PM

LOL Tessa.

Your Fabi story is darn great.

bev’s biker story ain’t half bad either. ;)

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:38 PM

Jean I’m thrilled we finally got our bev back, too. Feels like home for sure.

*snuggles Grey ’cause she likes snuggles*

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:40 PM

Oooooh!!! Ela has a new home???

*continues scrolling backward*

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:41 PM

Hey wait!!!!! I’m not seeing anything from Jan.

Is she still locked out?

*sideeyes bev*

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:42 PM

I missed all the fun.

Wanna know why? I was putting up a Christmas tree. :) And decorating it. And drinking peppermint bark martinis. And then I don’t remember the rest. ;)

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:44 PM

*puts Kooloo’s boots on and goes out into the cold to search for Jan*

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:49 PM

Thank you for the recommendation Cheryl!! I love the sound of that.

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:50 PM

Hi Cindy!! Good idea! I shall investigate the Primes. :D

Jan December 6, 2017 at 9:09 PM

*opens door and wanders back in* Hey. Stacks on the mill! (I’m guessing that’s what you mean by a puppy pile?) Jumps on top of the stack. Aaah! bev is on the bottom. Let the woman breathe! *carefully climbs off stack of people. Wanders around looking for a nice place to sit and read*

Ah. This will do. *sits down in pretty window seat and takes out kindle*

HEY guess what? I just remembered. Amazon have finally opened a warehouse in Melbourne (Australia) so JUST YESTERDAY I ordered my new waterproof luxury kindle with a pretty blue cover and IT ARRIVED TODAY!! WTAH????? Pretty sweet deal. And that was on ‘normal’ delivery (free) not priority. Wow. It was supposed to arrive Dec 11th to 15th but IT’S HERE!!! And I’m tired from Christmas shopping all morning and even though it was in my letterbox when I got home I still haven’t opened it yet. It’s quietly basking on my table. Yes darling, I know you’re there. I’ll open you and register you later when I’ve had a little rest. :D :D :D

Tessa December 6, 2017 at 9:25 PM

OOooh the waterproof one! Very cool Jan. So… tell us… what do you call a robe if your closet is a robe?

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 9:37 PM

:D !!!

I was out searching for you in the cold!!!!!

*snuggles Jan*

Oooooooh the waterprooooooof Kindle. Lucky woman. Go take a bath STAT!!!

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 9:37 PM

LOL Tessa!!!!!!!!

bev December 6, 2017 at 9:43 PM

I was just looking at my spotify unwrapped which is like the end of year GR.
Anyway I, on spotify, listened to
17,724 min of Music.
808 different songs and 403 different artist.
32 different genres. I don’t even know how there are that many different genres, lol.

Grey December 6, 2017 at 9:45 PM

*rubs eyes* Drunk clicks…. I thought Amy said, “Drunk Chicks”…which, when you really think about it, is pretty much the same thing….

Jan December 6, 2017 at 9:54 PM

*snuggles Maryse* It’s OK. I’m all nice and warm now. Soooo excited about my new toy.

We call it a wardrobe or just a robe. Or a cupboard. Or even a closet (less common). So yeah, I can get my robe out of the robe. I’m more likely to call it a dressing-gown, though. Haha. Clear as mud?

MichelleS December 6, 2017 at 10:45 PM

My dad wears a dressing gown??? Gasp!

I think Fabi hooked up with a couple of m/m hotties and is being held captive in the dark somewhere enjoying every minute!

Kooloo December 6, 2017 at 10:57 PM

bev December 6, 2017 at 11:40 PM

Hmm. I think that there has been a time warp and we are talking to Jan a lady of Victorian times. As we type on our devices she writes her posts on paper and a pen dipped in ink.

bev December 6, 2017 at 11:48 PM

You know it’s odd but I feel like I am always here and you ALL are missing, lol.

Yeah, all of you.

R. Renee December 6, 2017 at 11:48 PM

I’m always here. I’m just editing in the background!

Kooloo December 7, 2017 at 12:29 AM

Bev BABE!!
I’ve made a GR List of WNR or What NOT to Read – dedicated to you!

I got Jimmy to announce it on his his show….

Nay December 7, 2017 at 12:39 AM

OMG I’m laughing so hard I’m crying!

What if You are a Horse In Human Form by Jason the Horse

This book discusses openly what many have known but very few have ever revealed, even to family members and close friends. Today there are many horses in human form in the world, and they are here to help their race—and humanity.

What if You are a Horse in Human Form? was written to comfort, inform, and encourage these equines, most of whom have never met another in their situation and fear that they are all alone. Here they will find information that will facilitate their own journeys of self-discovery to learn why they are here and what the equine race wants them to accomplish. This work will also be of help to the human relatives and friends of these horses-in-human-guise.

Nay December 7, 2017 at 12:40 AM

Thanks, Kooloo!

Kooloo December 7, 2017 at 12:43 AM

RIGHT!!!!! Best List EVER!!!!!!

Kooloo December 7, 2017 at 12:48 AM

Or DNF (Did Not Finish)

bev December 7, 2017 at 8:58 AM

Who said I haven’t read those.

Don’t judge someone for reading a book on a new career that may help them pick up some extra cash for Christmas.

Grey December 7, 2017 at 10:02 AM

FLT: ~ White light pierced my eyes. ~ Full Tilt by Emma Scott.

Send Manny, Godiva and Pink Moscato… Yes, I’m aware that it is 10am… No, I do not care.

Jean December 7, 2017 at 10:08 AM

FLT: The first time tasted Whiskey, I fell flat on my face. Literally. (A Love Letter to Whiskey)

I’m at 80% and ready to have my heart ripped out….Grey, you’ll need to share Manny and the Godiva….. think I might need something stronger then Moscato….. I’m thinking whiskey! Lol!

R. Renee December 7, 2017 at 10:39 AM

FLT: “Typical. I busted my butt on this NPR transcript and then ended up cutting it from the final draft of Finches.” Tales from Cushman Row by Suanne Laqueur.

I have zero time to read right now so this is the perfect grab when I can book.

Tessa December 7, 2017 at 11:33 AM

That Over Us, Over You blurb made me laugh. The answers to the questions definitely made me want to read it.

No FLT yet. I just finished Under the Influence by Nikki Belaire from Monday’s post. It was cute. Not enough angst considering it’s a second chance and mafia. Honestly, I think it was just a Christmas book emotionally. All of it happens around Christmas with the happy Christmas ending. No tummy twists. :(

Tessa December 7, 2017 at 11:47 AM

Alright, after a quick look, I have an FLT, and am skipping the prologue because it’s obviously a spoiler or ‘tries to add angst’ prologue. No thanks!

I was curled up on the chaise lounge in the library, reading, when a knock sounded.
Bound by Honor by Cara Reilly

And so far that’s the only sentence I’ve read. lol But it has to have more angst than the last book did!

Kooloo December 7, 2017 at 12:37 PM

The Throne of Glass series is being made into a TV show by Hulu. Check out the details…

The film rights for A Court Of Thorns And Roses (ACOTAR) have been optioned by Tempo Productions. See the announcement…

Tasha J December 7, 2017 at 1:45 PM

FLT: “Everyone in Shaker Heights was talking about it that summer: how Isabelle, the last of the Richardson children, had finally gone around the bend and burned the house down.” from “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng Probably the last book of the year for me.

Nay December 7, 2017 at 1:46 PM

How cool! Hopefully they won’t ruin it!

FLT (for the book I STILL haven’t started yet):

“Gigi, The lawyer should have told you by now that you’ll be getting my estate.” (from the prologue)
The Coppersmith Farmhouse by Devney Perry

Jan December 7, 2017 at 4:36 PM

Tessa I liked Bound By Honour and its sequels except for the last one which was poorly edited to say the least. I’m not usually a massive fan of mafia books but I liked these ones. Have you read Deep by Susan Fanetti? Now that’s a really good mafia book. I lerved the growth of Nick’s character.

Nay I started The Coppersmith Farmhouse ages ago but didn’t get very far. I found it pretty bland and didn’t get drawn in. *dodges peanuts* But lots of peeps liked it, so maybe it’s just me…..

I’ve got two FLTs cos I’m reading 2 books concurrently (as I often do) cos while I quite like both of them, I’m not *in love* with either book. BTW I’m reading them on MY NEW KINDLE!!!! *idly caresses cute blue cover of new kindle lying on the table beside me*

Roomies by Christina Lauren:
According to family legend, I was born on the floor of a taxi.

A Duke In Shining Armour by Loretta Chase:
The Duke of Ashmont was not a very good duke – rather an awful one, actually.

Nay December 7, 2017 at 4:48 PM

Thanks, Jan! Another glowing review, LOL. I just need to get started on it!

Tessa December 7, 2017 at 6:44 PM

Oh cool, Jan! I don’t know why, but I adore mafia books far more than biker books or anything like that. Probably because there’s a gloss of sophistication over the darkness. I didn’t know Fanetti wrote a mafia book.

Kooloo December 7, 2017 at 6:49 PM

FLT: “A Brief History of the World” – WIR by Anne Bishop.
I really am, made it to chapter 4 and still awake lol But I’ve had it up to here with the world-building – start the dang strory already! Ahhhhhh

*sigh* I love snow…

Snow is beautiful coming down; just not shoveling it!

FLT: “According to family legend, I was born on the floor of a taxi.” Roomies by Christina Lauren.

Hey Amy- noticed the Troublemaker mascara is a VIB reward this month at Sephora. Going to get mine tomorrow. Maybe I’ll “try it out” this weekend! *waggles eyebrows”

FLT “Fifth Century BCE. Greece. ‘He has arrived, Your Majesty.’” – Broken (Beautiful Monsters Vol 3).

Oh yes I did – I went from book one to book two to book three IN A ROW. When was the last time I did that? This series is killing me. ARGH. I hate everybody, goddammit…. It’s like Sarah J Maas – if it was written for adults – if you know what I mean. GAH! Going to go read and torture myself some more.

What’s going on with Over Us, Over You? Doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon. Thought that would be my next read. :(

Tessa, Fanetti has a whole mafia series about the Pagano family. Some of the books are better than others, and in fact they’re kinda mafia-lite. My fav is Deep. Nick Pagano is the enforcer. Mid-forties, cold and hard as he has to be to do his job, and he thinks he will never really love a woman or have a family of his own. His relationship with Beverley is complicated and intense, and it’s no easy ride. But gradually Nick changes and grows as he develops a real relationship with a woman for the first time ever. The epilogue of this book is just beautiful, and shows how far Nick has come.

I also really liked Carmen’s story, Rooted.

Yeah, compared to some, this is mafia lite too. The first one was cute with a side of the mafia. Terri Browning’s first mafia was the same. Cute with a side of the mafia. This is much better. It’s dark and there are issues and angst, but the actual mafia fighting hasn’t touched them yet.

Just finished Full Tilt…. I need … All of the things….

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 12:53 AM

Just finished Method 15/33 – yes the one Maryse listed above.
I know my review will take me awhile to write I am still processing but supremely satisfied.

There were so many elements (the writing, the wisdom/stupidity, the science/horror, the emotion/less, the truth/lies) to this story I found perfect…

Hands down this is my favourite book of the year!!!!

Maryse December 8, 2017 at 8:33 AM

It’s the one I’m reading right now, Kooloo and I’m LOVING IT!!!!! :D

Jean December 8, 2017 at 9:07 AM

Moving that one up on my list Maryse and Kooloo! I bought it back in 2016!

I know I’m changing the subject here but last night I finished reading FULL TILT and I have to admit I cried UGLY tears – ugly, sobbing, heart wrenching tears! I’m in recovery mode and trying to find my ‘happy’ place. Sigh

Maryse December 11, 2017 at 12:56 PM

Jean December 11, 2017 at 1:38 PM
