HAPPY Valentine’s Day!!! I have a whole box of “book-chocolates” for us! ;) Yummy!! ;)

These might be my favorite flavors of the day. I think I’ll take a bite out of each, just to make sure. *snort* (P.S. Yes. I do that in real life chocolate sampling, too). I can’t help it. I don’t wanna waste all of my calories on one or two, if I can have a half of each one until I find my favorite. LOL!!!!!!

Okay okay… enough of my goofiness. These are the ones that look extra good to me (hence, my desire to take a bite out of each one to make sure ;) ): The Sexy One (recent release that’s in the super-bargain section… a HUGE HIT, and she’s his daughter’s nanny. I always love those…), The Cad and the Co-Ed (she’s a single mom, and he does’t even remember her… the kicker? He’s the father of her child!!! *gasp*!!), Riveted (she’s in unrequited love with a soldier… and she thinks she’s ready to move on and find someone real), Love Story (road trip with her brother’s best friend that she’s been crushing on!!!), The Date (this whole blurb just sounds awesome. He’s a reclusive mountain man/best-selling author, and she comes limping to his door for help… and he decides she can return the favor by being his fake “date” for a book event!!), Never Better (’cause it’s Charlotte Stein, and she tends to “go there”, and he’s helping her with her past assault trauma, but he’s got one big bad secret… eeeeeeeeeep!!), Beautiful Evil (sounds super-dark, and he was once a very bad guy… no happily ever afters, after him… my only hiccup is this one is somewhat of a short story, but I’m intrigued) and last but not least, Breaking the Girl (he’s an ex porn star that discovers and makes new girls famous, and she’s homeless and will do anything to better her life…). Yikes. OH!!!! OH!!!! An add-on!!!! —> My Sister Rosa (bev just found it on sale for me and I ONE-CLICKED IT SO HARD!!! eekeekeekeek What if the most terrifying person you know is your ten-year-old sister? MINE!!! Er… not my sister. I mean… the book. :P )

Keep checking back ’cause you know the list will double, and maybe even triple in size!

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

I just want to take a moment to squeeeee because my husband – gruff, frustrating, stubborn, opinionated and sometimes just grumpy – bought me my very own Manny the stuffed manatee for Valentine’s Day. I’d post a picture, but have no idea how to do that here. So now I gotta add lovable and thoughtful to my description of him, damnit!!

Ela February 14, 2017 at 2:11 PM

Well aren’t you special Lisa?! Don’t mind me I’m just born a bitch!

Amy February 14, 2017 at 3:10 PM

I’m reading Maldeamores, and even though it’s not top-notch writing or anything it still has a nice touch of angst because of the (slightly) forbidden factor. FUN!!

Now to check out all the hard work Maryse did for us up there…

Just finished Bossman by Vi Keeland. What a great read and I couldn’t stay quite because I laughed so much during the first 20%. Highly recommend this one.

Fabi February 14, 2017 at 3:53 PM

Awww Lisa – how sweet!

Hey guys, for the M/M crowd who have been anxiously waiting this release,
Hard Wired (Cyberlove Book 3) by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell, came out yesterday.

Maryse February 14, 2017 at 3:54 PM

OMG I JUST finished this list…an really it’s not finished yet ’cause now I have to find today’s audiobooks… and then send out the newsletter.

All I wanna do is read!!! :P Oh I switched ebooks… I’ll tell you about the latest one I chose shortly. Ginger Scott’s is good but it’ll be a few weeks before it’s out so I’m saving it.

Maryse February 14, 2017 at 3:54 PM

Oh Pia!! I had no idea!!

Okay I’m adding it! :D

Fabi February 14, 2017 at 3:55 PM

Hahaha Pia, we were posting the same thing at the same time. I also loved Bossman. I’m starting Hard Wired on Friday (at 12:01 am) ;-) since I’m waiting to start it with a BR group.

bev February 14, 2017 at 4:32 PM

Anna and The French Kiss is on sale. YA and I really like it. Takes place at a boarding school in Paris, great sense of place. Though it is the third one, I think can be read as a stand alone, that I Love.

Another YA on sale is My Sister Rosa. I’m tempted. Lots of good buzz but not my usual sub genre of YA. Tempted.
Maryse that one may be one you’d like.

R. Renee February 14, 2017 at 4:36 PM

WTH?? I just got the notification! Grey rigged it I just know it!

bev February 14, 2017 at 4:39 PM

Oh, and The Spy Masters Lady is on Super sale. Where are my HR buddies? I can’t read it right now bit so want to. Hear so much good about this series. I think it will be my first March read.

bev February 14, 2017 at 4:39 PM

R. R. R.
You can’t wait for the notification if you want to win.

Maryse February 14, 2017 at 5:10 PM

Good finds bev!! I’m adding ‘em!

Tessa February 14, 2017 at 5:16 PM

Three Simple Rules (The Blindfold Club Book 1) by Nikki Sloane is free right now.

Managed (VIP Book 2) by Kristen Callihan is a daily deal for $0.99 today!

Jan February 14, 2017 at 5:29 PM

Lisa that’s so sweet :) A manny to snuggle while you read. Very thoughtful of your husband.

Another mighty list, Maryse! Wow! It’s so much fun to go through these lists, thinking, thinking, thinking…… maybe that one, and that one, and that one…… hee hee.

I really like the blurb for The Date too, and have downloaded a sample. But I have to say I don’t like the cover of it at all. In the pic the h looks grumpy and bee-archy and the H looks like her grandpa LOL. I’d never pick up the book on the basis of the cover.

If anyone hasn’t read Lisa Kleypas Travis series, I highly recommend. Get the bargain bundle while you can! It’s a really great CR series from a writer more well-known for her HRs. But I FLOVED the Travis series.

*eats a chocolate left over from valentine’s day* (that was yesterday here LOL)

Fabi February 14, 2017 at 5:41 PM

Oh my gawd!!!! Happy Valentine’s Day to me!

I just got an ARC of Santino Hassel’s upcoming Insight.

Woohoo *twirls around giddily*

MichelleH February 14, 2017 at 6:24 PM

Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas is $2.99 at Amazon today, rare sale!

A great book, one of the Travis series

dawna petty-love February 14, 2017 at 6:28 PM

I just LOVE this weekly dataletter!

Amy February 14, 2017 at 6:47 PM

Awwwww Lisa, what a sweet and thoughtful gift from your hubby!!

Leslie M February 14, 2017 at 8:28 PM

Ugh! I have a belly ache from too much chocolate.

Lisa, you have your very own manny!! I love it!!! Can you lend it out to us when we need it? Hee hee

I started Wrecking Ball per Jean’s rec. So far I like it. :)

bev February 14, 2017 at 8:52 PM

Library haul! I went in to pick up 2 holds and came out with 6 books. All but one are YA….should I be embarrassed? It is a bit weird walking into that section, lol.
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater. Because yes Fabi & R, I’m already thinking about reading book 2.
Exit, Pursued by Bear by E.K. Johnston. I am a bit scared of this one, but had contemplated buying it and there it was on the new book shelf.
Shadow shaper by Daniel José Older. That title should be one word but my phone won’t let me. Heard so much about it and there it was.
Ink and Bone by Lisa Unger. My one adult book. :)
The Raging Quiet by Sherryl Jordan. I found it on a list of recs on books with language barriers.
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. The pages are edged in black.

MichelleS February 14, 2017 at 10:00 PM

I couldn’t get into Six of Crows! No clue why.

Lisa – a manatee? So sweet. You namin him Manny Junior? I need him after that last book!!

Fabi February 14, 2017 at 10:03 PM

I couldn’t either Michelle. I tried like 3-4 times but finally gave up. Everybody loves it but I guess it’s not for me.

R. Renee February 14, 2017 at 11:11 PM

I bought Six of Crows partly because Suanne Laqueur went crazy over it and partly because of the black pages, but I’m not sure it’s for me.

Jan February 14, 2017 at 11:15 PM

LOL R. ‘partly because of the black pages’ :D

R. Renee February 14, 2017 at 11:16 PM

As Fabi whispers *it was mostly because of the black pages*

Milissa Davis February 14, 2017 at 11:23 PM

Girls , I have tried Six of crows 5 x’s now and never make it past 7%. I never give up, but I think I will for a awhile on this one.
I am reading Maldeamores and I all in . Yes it’s forbidden but I am at 89% And I had to stop reading to see what goodies Marysea had for us today.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY my sweet book loving friends

MichelleS February 14, 2017 at 11:24 PM

See! That’s why Iluminae didn’t work for me! I had eBook not pretty pretty pages!

R. Renee February 14, 2017 at 11:25 PM

Right!! MichelleS!? At least if you can’t finish is you’re still left with a pretty book!

bev February 14, 2017 at 11:55 PM

The black edges are cool, right?

Julie o February 15, 2017 at 2:34 AM

I also loved the Travis Family series by Lisa Kleypas. I don’t care for her regency novels if that is what they are called. Just don’t like that time period. Smooth Talking Stranger is my favorite of them all, just fell in love with Jack. There is something about a man who falls in love with the woman and her kid too that is very endearing.

Lisa February 15, 2017 at 6:15 AM

Happy Valentines Day everyone.
Just finished Wrecking Ball…loved it and almost done with Fake Fiance.
Lisa the only way Ive managed pictures here is to share from Insta. Id love to see your Manny. (I thought he was a monkey for ages when I first started stalking here).
Gonna read Heather Bentley’s on R rec next.

Lisa Aiello February 15, 2017 at 8:34 AM

My new Manny Jr. Manatee can travel if needed…except to Ela. And after I told you that Fred the Fish survived the explosion? Where is the love? LOL I think I shall tackle you and smooch your face just cuz!!

Fabi February 15, 2017 at 9:08 AM

hahaha Lisa A. that’s hilarious.

I agree that SoC is a beautiful hard cover book. If I’d run across it at a book store I would have bought it not knowing anything else about it. It’s a gorgeous edition to any bookshelf.

I can not even imagine reading Illuminae as an eBook. For me, it would lose all it’s magic since so much of that magic is visual.

Ela February 15, 2017 at 10:41 AM

Smooch away cupcake!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO….yes the fish made it and that was very important information, I agree…poor Fred!

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 11:04 AM

My NetGally request for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was declined :( That’s fine. I can sell my car and buy the book like everyone else, I suppose.

Fabi February 15, 2017 at 11:21 AM

Is the book that expensive?!

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 11:24 AM

$12 for the kindle, $22 for the hardcover, no paperback option. I always buy her hard copies and I can’t justify $12 for an e-book that I probably can’t even share so $22 it is. I’m sure it’s worth it. Everything I’ve ever read of hers has been at least 5 stars. I’m more upset I have to wait until June!

Maryse February 15, 2017 at 12:49 PM

Taylor Jenkins Reid is a remarkable author. I absolutely love everything she’s ever written… unique stories, and an incredible way of delivering them.

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 12:53 PM

She is. She guts me faster than anybody. She can say the most mundane thing and make it heart wrenching. Like this:

“My eyes are bloodshot. I look at my face and I think that I had someone who loved this face. And now he’s gone. And now no one loves my face anymore.”

I think I cried for a week over that line alone.

Cheryl February 15, 2017 at 1:07 PM

Finished Mack Daddy. Frustrating, enjoyable read.

Now I think I will start the Torn Duet, since book 2 was released yesterday. Bonus that it is kindle unlimited.

Jean February 15, 2017 at 1:12 PM

R, I was denied that book on NG too, and I was denied Insight which I assume is where Fabi’s ARC came from!

Guys, I really need to get control of my books, but I’m thinking that is impossible at this point!

So I’m reading a book which I think comes out tomorrow. Blink by K.L. Slater….psycho thriller! It is really good so far and I’m only at 50%. Maryse, did you hear me, PSYCHO THRILLER!!!!!!!! I don’t know how this is going to end but is will supposedly blow my mind!

Maryse February 15, 2017 at 1:27 PM

Wheeeeeee YAY JEAN!!!!!!!

Are you having fun? I’m looking it up right now!!!! :D

Maryse February 15, 2017 at 1:28 PM

Oooooh that sounds GOOD!! It’s going live tomorrow. YAY ME!

Fabi February 15, 2017 at 1:42 PM

OMG I just got Singe by Aly Martinez on loan. *happy dance*

The reading month started out rough but it is certainly turning around.

Jean? Buddy Read? I have max 3 weeks to fit it in to my schedule.

Jean February 15, 2017 at 1:56 PM

Maryse, it is really good!!!!!! I’m dying to get to the end!

Fabi, I will absolutely BR Singe with you! When do you want to start it?

Fabi February 15, 2017 at 3:42 PM

Jean, how does Feb 26th sound?

Grey February 15, 2017 at 3:44 PM

I’m still in Gann… Someone send a medevac..

Lisa Aiello February 15, 2017 at 3:44 PM

Apparently I need to get a little Taylor Jenkins Reid in my life. I need to be gutted and have tears running down my face with no one to love it too!!! Gimme gimme gimme. I am so running to look up what I have on my TBR by her and add more!

Grey February 15, 2017 at 3:50 PM

And HFS, I got The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo on NetGalley. It’ll be my very first TJR and NG ever too…

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 3:51 PM

Oh Lisa please! I can relive it through you! Start with “After I Do” or “Forever, Interrupted,” or if you’re nervous about having your heart ripped out and stomped on repeatedly, go TJR Lite (ish) with “Maybe in Another Life.”

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 3:53 PM

Dang it! Is it because I’ve never used NetGalley before and have no plans to in the future? :D

Grey February 15, 2017 at 4:04 PM

Oh I’m so tempted to squirrel now. I just downloaded it.

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 4:11 PM

You ALREADY have it? OMG my skin is on fire and there is big time pressure in my chest. Is this what insane jealousy feels like?

This is karma. Butterfly. Project. Karma.

Grey February 15, 2017 at 4:25 PM

I haven’t read her stuff either… I need to get with the program. Yep I have it on my kindle right now. But…I’m in Gann… Forever… And it’s getting exciting.

Jean February 15, 2017 at 4:27 PM

Grey, I can’t believe you got it!! Ugh, so jealous! There seems to be no rhyme or reason to NG….my friend and I will be sitting right next to each other, she’ll get approved and I won’t or vice versa…..AND I HAVE A BIGGER BOOK PRESENCE ONLINE THAN SHE DOES…, I’m not too bitter about it…..hahaha!

bev February 15, 2017 at 4:40 PM

R, that reminds me of a quote from Jellicoe Road I like.

“It’s funny how you forget everything except people loving you. Maybe that’s why humans find it so hard getting over love affairs. It’s not the pain they’re getting over, its the love.”

bev February 15, 2017 at 4:41 PM

Oh, Jean. So trusting and naive about BRs around here.

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 4:42 PM

Hey! I read a lot last night! Like 20% :D

Fabi February 15, 2017 at 4:44 PM

*snort* I figured I’d catch up to R even if I started reading it a week late.

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 4:45 PM

See? Fabi gets me!

Lisa Aiello February 15, 2017 at 4:52 PM

I just signed up to get a NetGalley of Seven Husbands…let’s see if they approve me. It really is hit and miss!!

Grey February 15, 2017 at 4:53 PM

Meanwhile… I’m the last one still in Gann….

Fabi February 15, 2017 at 5:04 PM

Grey you don’t sound like you’re enjoying it as much as you’re supposed to.

Grey February 15, 2017 at 5:08 PM

Meh, it’s just so long… I see all of you with all these new shinies, and I myself have a new shiny. I’m feeling squirrelly.

Ela February 15, 2017 at 5:33 PM

Since NG never approves me for anything I figured I’d give it a try….

Amy February 15, 2017 at 6:18 PM

I’ve been known to pay $11 or $12 for ebooks, especially with authors I know are worth it.

Like TJR. ;)

Amy February 15, 2017 at 6:21 PM

Does NG base its decision on how much you actually review books, like on GR and all? Because I don’t want to sign up for NG and have them laugh in my virtual face because I really don’t review books on GR…

Lisa February 15, 2017 at 6:23 PM

That’s what has always put me off too Grey. My reading time has seriously been reduced with work and RL stuff, I just can’t commit to something that will take me weeks to read.

Plus…still sweating over here. It’s making me tired and grumpy and unmotivated.

Lisa A, your Manny should most definitely become the travelling Manatee…send him on an Aussie holiday. :)

Lisa February 15, 2017 at 6:27 PM

R. I’m liking your friend’s book, Beautiful Lies, so far. Did you read it?

First line Thursday (cos it is Thursday here):
‘Hey, Wren,it’s me – the girl you f”*ked in Cancun seven years ago’
A Redo CM Owens.

Been on my TBR forever.

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 6:39 PM

Lisa, I read a really early version of it (pre-editing/proofreading, etc.), so I don’t consider it “read.” I want to read the final version soon. I’m glad you’re liking it!

If an ebook is over $7, I’ll just get the paperback or hardcover. TJR is an immediate 1 click for me, regardless of the price.

D.G. February 15, 2017 at 6:52 PM

Guess what?!?!? I am FINALLY FINISHED with then 81 chapter book! YAY me…quick update…it had no major angst, no doubts of does he love me, does he love me not, no kidnappings, no murders, no cheating, no car accidents…JUST a ton of ‘I love you’ and sugar sweet! 3.75 stars

Maryse February 15, 2017 at 7:09 PM

After I Do was my first and favorite… but OH MY GOD Life Interrupted.

Maryse February 15, 2017 at 7:11 PM

*snuggle-sorrys Grey*

Sometimes we are lacking… as buddy-readers. ;)

Maryse February 15, 2017 at 7:12 PM

LOL D.G.!!!!!!!

You guinea-pigged it for us. ;)

*snuggle-appreciates D.G.*

Tessa February 15, 2017 at 7:30 PM

81 chapters and no angst? 0.0

Tessa February 15, 2017 at 7:35 PM

Woot, the library has the next book of the Jane Yellowstone series! Saturday it will be mine. I just finished the fifth book, Death Rival, and loved it. However, I got sick last night and I think I’m going to have to re-read the end, because some of it made no sense to me. My brain was all, uh… words no understand. *shakes head*

Oh! And the audio. It’s official. I can’t do it. The narrator had a good low note voice and clear, concise speech, but it took so much to grasp what the words were that the comprehension wasn’t there. One paragraph and I knew it wouldn’t work. Grrr

D.G. February 15, 2017 at 8:13 PM

Did I ever mention that I crush majorly on certain rugby players??? Well, of course Penny Reid’s new rugby player book was right up my alley! The Cad and the Co-Ed. I do love this series so much! My favorite part is the tweets. Some are so random and just hilarious.

bev February 15, 2017 at 8:22 PM

I never became antsy with Gann.

Grey, It’s the Bronze Horseman all over again. Lol.

Cheryl February 15, 2017 at 8:28 PM

Lisa & R- Is Beautiful Lies released?

R. Renee February 15, 2017 at 8:30 PM
Cheryl February 15, 2017 at 8:54 PM

Thanks R!

Lisa February 15, 2017 at 9:13 PM

Yep Cheryl. Got it as a kindle book.

DG I love that series too. Penny Reid’s writing always brings me some laughs, but there is plenty of sweet too. Anyone who liked the Pucked series would enjoy this one too, don’t ya think?

Leslie M February 16, 2017 at 6:19 AM

Ugh…Bronze Horseman!!! That was longest, most torturous buddy read EVER!!!!

Grey February 16, 2017 at 6:22 AM

FLT – “The eviction notice was hanging on the door when they got back from the hospital.” ~ The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith. Surprised? *snort* However, I’m now at 65%…and, stuffs is really happening now. So much so, that I was awake at 430am reading, so there’s that. I am so excited to be on break as of 310pm tomorrow. I have a bunch of appts scheduled for the kids, but for the most part, I’m lazy and reading.

Leslie M February 16, 2017 at 9:48 AM

” Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that you’re considering living with a woman you want to screw.”

Full Package by Lauren Blakeley

Let’s hope this is a good one. Sometimes these types are same old/same old and a flop for me.

R. Renee February 16, 2017 at 9:53 AM

FLT “Blue Sargent had forgotten how many times she’d been told that she would kill her true love.” The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvatter.

I’m finally at 30%. This one is taking me a while to get into, but I’m mildly interested, finally. Just so busy I haven’t had much time to read this week! I will say the writing is awesome as expected and Stiefvatter’s sense of humor is on point!

Fabi February 16, 2017 at 10:17 AM

“With twenty-five thousand people attending the convention, I fully expected my name to be forgotten as soon as anyone heard it.”

MichelleS February 16, 2017 at 1:47 PM

FLT: “You know what they say about a guy’s hands.” – Bet Me, by Lila Monroe.

This one is short and sexy and fun. Could totally see it as a RomCom movie!

bev February 16, 2017 at 3:39 PM

You audio listeners always mention narrators. I only listened to a teeny tiny sample but I think Simon might have a good narrator.

bev February 16, 2017 at 3:40 PM

I have that one and the next in the series, Jean. So curious as to what you think.

Tessa February 16, 2017 at 4:15 PM

Okay, I finished The Failing Years, and it was better than the first, by a lot. I really loved the first, but the second. My heart melted! I adore Zeke! Him and Violet are too cute and perfect together.

Tessa February 16, 2017 at 4:48 PM

My new FLT:
Good morning Korn County!
How to Save a Life by Emma Scott

Cheryl February 16, 2017 at 5:08 PM

“I was a stalker.” Torn Between Two: The Torn Duet by Mia Kayla.

I honestly don’t know who I want her to end up with yet. Just building the love triangle so far and I really like it.

Amy February 16, 2017 at 5:24 PM

bev…the second one was good but didn’t have the magic of the first, at least for me. Still good though.

Cheryl, I’m looking forward to that one! Keep us updated.

Cristina February 16, 2017 at 5:26 PM

FLT – “Blood streaked my Mother’s face and dripped down the front of her yellow sun dress.” Acquisition series by Celia Aaron.

I just read…no wait… I just DEVOURED this entire series in two days flat. If you are in the mood for a dark read, this is definitely it! WARNING! If you have certain triggers this may not be the book series for you, because it is certainly a dark read. Here’s a quick snapshot… “Darkness lurks in the heart of the Louisiana elite, and only one will be able to rule them as Sovereign. Sinclair Vinemont will compete for the title, and has acquired Stella Rousseau for that very purpose. Breaking her is part of the game. Loving her is the most dangerous play of all.”

This “elite” is something very similar to a secret society which is ruled by the “Sovereign.” Only certain families are allowed into this society, the main requisite being wealth. But this society is filled with darkness, depravity, and corruption. Every 10 years, a new Sovereign is selected by the current one to rule for the next decade. Three individuals (family first-borns) are selected by the former Sovereign to compete in this process. Each contender must acquire an “Acquisition” to participate in the four trials that occur over the course of a year, and these trials are not for the faint of heart… and I’ll leave it at that. I don’t want to give away too much because it’ll take away from the reading experience, but tbh, when I first read this series (went in blind by the way), I literally stopped after a few pages because it was all kinds of twisted and I didn’t know what to make of it. I was like “Whoa… what is this?” BUT alas… I picked it back up because honestly no other book could hold my attention, and once I got a few more pages in, I was HOOKED!

This series is by far the BEST I’ve read in a very long time. How do I know this? Because right now, I have no gumption to jump into another book. That is my tell.

It gave me the same feels as the “Indebted” series. At times it wasn’t quite as dark as that series, and at other times, it was much darker. If you love these kinds of books, I HIGHLY recommend this series to you! You will not regret it! Bravo Celia Aaron!! I have a serious case of book hangover now… I’m turning in circles, not really sure which book road to take next. :-(

Fabi February 16, 2017 at 5:33 PM

Thank you Cristina. I’m going to drop a sample of book 1 in my tbr because every so often I do get in the mood to read something ‘horrory’ dark.

Cristina February 16, 2017 at 5:34 PM

OH! And I totally forgot to mention that the Acquisition series is FREE on KU right now!

Cristina February 16, 2017 at 5:35 PM

Fabi its SO GOOD! Like you, I get in those moods too. This series was perfect! ;-)

Jan February 16, 2017 at 6:20 PM

FLT: He wasn’t the kind of guy a woman wanted to pin her hopes and dreams on.
from Truly: A New York Novel by Ruthie Knox. A meet-cute in a New York bar when May is down and desperate. Ben and May are so great together in this book. I think I’ve mentioned I’m rereading this one cos the next one in the trilogy is due out soon. It’s a lovely, slightly different CR with not too much angst (for all you angst-haters like me). Bargain-priced on amazon at the moment, too.

Cristina, sorry, but I WON’T be reading the Acquisition series. Hell to the no…… Not my cup of tea I’m afraid. Still, I’m glad you found a series you love so much. Each to her own :)

Leslie M February 16, 2017 at 7:22 PM

Oooh Cheryl…I just love a good love triangle! I want to read those too!!!

Maryse February 16, 2017 at 7:33 PM

Love. The dictionary says it’s an intense feeling of deep affection—to feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone.

TC Matson’s “Open House” :)

Amy February 16, 2017 at 8:06 PM

Oooooh I have that one Maryse! How is it so far?

Cristina…that sounds GOOD! :D

Maryse February 16, 2017 at 8:46 PM

Amy!! I’m almost halfway through and I really like it. Lots of realistic emotion and the writing is good.

Cristina February 16, 2017 at 8:47 PM

It’s ok Jan! Dark reads are not for everybody. I, myself, can only read them ever so often. Too many in a row and I go into a funk, but I do love to follow them up with a good rom-com. The light to my dark. Variety is the spice of life! ;-)

Amy, if you read it, please let me know! I always love to hear other people’s opinions, especially about the dark and taboo books. :-)

Tasha J February 16, 2017 at 8:54 PM

FLT- This is from Part I which I guess is like a prologue- “The road to death is a long march beset with all evils, and the heart fails little by little at each new terror, the bones rebel at each step, the mind sets up its own bitter resistance and to what end?”
Chapter 1- “Before she became the Girl from Nowhere—the One Who Walked In, the First and Last and Only, who lived a thousand years—she was just a little girl in Iowa, named Amy. Amy Harper Bellafonte.” The Passage by Justin Cronin

Ah yes. Great book Tasha. Not a romance, but a fab post-apocalyptic totally epic adventure with some weird vampires thrown in for good measure! So Cristina, I guess I do read the odd scary book sometimes. Not that the Passage is scary exactly, but if def has some elements of horror at times.

Maryse I’m luvvin you doing the flt thang too. And I like your fl this week :D

Amy February 16, 2017 at 11:50 PM

Yay Maryse! The blurb alone makes my tummy twitchy. Oh man, it sounds like all kinds of drama…

Tessa February 17, 2017 at 12:20 AM

So uh… I read How to Save a Life and uh… *starts ducking* It was okay but parts were not working for me. *hides*

Megan February 17, 2017 at 3:20 AM

Just finished a trilogy that had me riveted from the start. I LOVE trilogies! Two couples meet by chance and decide to swap! The arrangement is very specific: no discussing what the other couple does, no emotional attachments, and a few other “ground rules”. As usual, things don’t always go according to carefully-laid plans, and one of the couples starts to break some of these “ground rules” – with far-reaching consequences for the two families involved. I would REALLY RECOMMEND this series, as you have no idea of how the situation will be resolved… THE GROUND RULES 1, 2, 3 by Roya Carmen.

Leslie M February 17, 2017 at 6:23 AM

Tessa, the whole “shades of paranormal” scares me a bit re: How to Save a Life. But Rush was a big fat bowl of awesome-sauce.

Megan, I have been meaning to dive into Ground Rules trilogy. Too many books, not enough time! I also LOVE trilogies.

Hey Maryse, how about a new list??? Our fave trilogies?

Tasha J February 17, 2017 at 9:28 AM

Yes Jan, I’m really liking it so far and am glad I’m finally sticking with it, but holy cow- 881 pages. I’m thinking I may have been discouraged a bit by that last time too. I’ll bet I’ll finish just in time for March. Heading out for a weekend getaway, which ideally would give me plenty of read time, but no probably not! Lol

Hey. Question.

Can I be in love with Lin Manuel Miranda even though I have not seen Hamilton?

Jean February 17, 2017 at 10:14 AM

Leslie, I think that’s why I haven’t read How to Save a Life yet either….but Rush is by far an all time favorite of mine! (R, don’t start throwing things at us…..)

You guys, I am LOVING the Garretts (My Life Next Door)….this book…..sigh, I LOVE IT!!!! The writing…AMAZING!!!

Tasha, The Passage sounds soooooo good!!! I love post-apocalyptic!

R. Renee February 17, 2017 at 10:22 AM

LOL! I loved it, but RUSH is my hands down fave. I don’t consider HTSAL PNR at all though. The H has intuition and, to me, that’s the beginning and end of the paranormal aspect.

Amy February 17, 2017 at 10:55 AM

Jean, RIGHT?!? I absolutely adore the Garretts!! Their interactions, their devotion to each other, how they absorb the h right into the family…LOVE that book. :D AND it’s still on sale!!!

Amy February 17, 2017 at 11:01 AM

Megan…there was QUITE the buzz around here for that series when it started so you’re in good company for angst commiseration!

I read the first one and have the second one in my library but I won’t be finishing it. I didn’t like Gabe AT ALL, didn’t care for Bridget, and by the end of the first book I was so angry with Weston that he was on my sh!t list, too. I think reading any further in the series will turn me into a shrieking harpie.

And the ladies here enjoy it WAY too much when that happens. :P

Tessa February 17, 2017 at 11:29 AM

Actually it was the human interaction that felt off to me. *shrugs*

That said, I thought I had my kindle charging last night, but when I went to read, it was almost dead. Oops!

Maryse February 17, 2017 at 11:52 AM

I know I do, Amy. ;) :P

Maryse February 17, 2017 at 11:57 AM

Jean and Amy!!! WOW. Yes… I’m adding that book to today’s list AND I’m one-clicking it. :D !!! Thank you guys!!!

Maryse February 17, 2017 at 12:02 PM

Great idea, Leslie!!! I’m on it. :D Go ahead and start it off. ;)

Maryse February 17, 2017 at 12:03 PM

I loved that first one Megan!!

Maryse February 17, 2017 at 12:05 PM

Imagine had I truly listed my FLT the way it should be done? Mine would have just said:

Maryse February 17, 2017 at 12:10 PM

Jan I just added Truly to today’s list. I’m going to create the series reading order too. :D I do enjoy this author and this sounds great!

R. Renee February 17, 2017 at 12:15 PM

Duh, The FishTales, but aside from that, I LOVED the Florentine series (Gabriel’s Inferno), and coming in 3rd, The Dark Duet which I guess didn’t start out as a trilogy… So there you go, Leslie, a trilogy of trilogies!

Jean February 17, 2017 at 12:25 PM

By the way guys, I also loved Blink by K.L. Slater…..could not put it down! Had to remind myself to “blink” in the last 30% because I couldn’t take my eyes off the page! Lol

Yes Maryse, My Life Next Door is definitely for you!!

Leslie M February 17, 2017 at 4:02 PM

I don’t have time to play today, but will make list of fave trilogies asap!!!

Amy February 17, 2017 at 4:52 PM

I would love to see what you think of MLND Maryse!! I’m pretty sure it was on my all-time faves list. :D

Julie o February 17, 2017 at 5:45 PM

I loved The Ground Rules. All three books. Especially loved Gabe and thought Weston was a flake. Just goes to show there is something for everyone! That’s what makes the interactions interesting.

R. Renee February 17, 2017 at 5:46 PM

I liked Wes in the first, Gabe in the second, and hated them both in the third.

R. Renee February 17, 2017 at 5:47 PM

Jan February 17, 2017 at 6:28 PM

Hmmmm. I started The Ground Rules ages ago but can’t even remember finishing book 1……. I must have gotten distracted by some other shiny thing. Like that’s never happened before LOL. But I guess I never felt the urge to back to TGR. Maybe I should add it to the GBL shelf I keep telling myself I need to set up on GR.

Jan February 17, 2017 at 6:30 PM

Thanks for sharing about Truly, Maryse. It’s a lovely book.
