Latest Paranormal & Contemporary Romance Book Releases – January 26th 2016

See?!? It’s all about the covers with me…Infinity and Needing to Fall were automatic one-clicks for me not just because of the blurbs (*happy wiggle dance*) but the covers as well. On the other hand, I REALLY want to read Noah because of the blurb but can’t get past that cover enough to click it. I must really be getting old with how much I can’t stand this whole full-face beard trend. 😕 All I can think of is Melissa McCarthy in Identity Thief telling Robert Patrick his beard smells like sandwiches. *shudder*

Amy, my thoughts on that Noah cover is the same as EVERY cover by that model. Why is he grabbing his hair? Seriously, one or two pictures, sure. However, I have yet to see a picture of him not grabbing his hair. The man has a fetish!

Infinity is going to hurt. *shies away* And I like her stuff, but… OUCH! Something tells me that’s pure ugly tears.

You know another thing that bothers me with book covers is if they are dated…and putting guys with beards on the cover will *definitely* date a book. What's funny though is how Jojo Moyes' books all have a 1970s feel to the covers, and yet it doesn't bother me at all because I KNOW they aren't from the '70s and it's almost like a signature style for her.

Yep, Infinity should be very emotional and hurt and I'm gonna love that! Kind of like Before I Go…which I have *every* intention of reading for that reason. 😉

Beautifully Toxic (Toxic Love Series Book 1) was unexpectedly hilarious. KENNICK was really good, first book in a series about a group of gypsies. Both were pretty quick reads…quick but good.

I just started the Infidelity series by Aleatha Romig. Not what I expected but in a good way. I’m 80% in and it’s one of those that’s start slow, but then gets so good you can’t put it down. FYI, the first book in her Consequences series is free right now. Haven’t read that one either, so I one-clicked it! Score! I also read Touch Me Not by Apryl Baker (Manwhore series #1) and that too was awesome! 2016 has been so freaking awesome so far!!

I have Appealed in line Sharon! I really love that series. It’s sad to see it go, but I’m excited to see what Emma Chase comes up with next. She’s only of my one-click authors. She’s a master at witty banter! 🙂

I agree about the cover-a great cover is what grabs my attention. The “posed, sexy” guy or “Harlequin” throw-back cover is a turn off. Hate to say but I prefer the cover with the male model’s head cut off a’ la The Deal/Mistake/Score. *ahem, mind out of the gutter Amy*

I am with you on the beards. The sooner this trend is over the better. I find nothing sexy about it and the book covers kind of turn me off. Ok I’m off my bandwagon now…just had to get that off my chest!

Huge kudos to Claire Kent for bundling a two book series. Why cant they all be bundled 🙁

And I will urge you all again to click away on Carolina Cold Fury bundle. These guys are hot hot hot. I love this series, its like my happy place between angsty heartbreaker books. A bit like a KA fix…you know you’re going to get the HEA with a few bumps on the way.

I think there should be more pink and red covers. I display all my hard cover books by colour and there is a distinct lack of these colours. See….I might not make spread sheets but Im still OCD and proud!

Yeah, covers can make or break the decision to even read the book. There’s one that keeps popping up based on my amazon choices- Slave To Love- just ick can’t get past the cover to even read the blurb. See that one is a prime example of why I like the head’s cut off on covers. Nice body but the face and his facial expression just, no.

I’m looking up The Grisha right now. I’m all into fantasy caught up in Michelle’s rec of Edgelanders. I’m on book two.

I have my Feb reads lined up so tightly back to back that I think it will be March before I surface again. But I’m off to Amazon to check out The Grisha because March will come around quickly. 🙂

Hey Aly Martinez put Fighting Shadows on sale for .99 so read before her #3 comes out 2/2. This series is good. Poor boys get into fighting for money to survive but find their girls.

Just 1-clicked Claiming Eden by Kele Moon – loved the first two books, Sweet Revenge by Claire Kent – she never disappoints,
Ultimate Sin by Clarissa Wild – haven’t read anything by this author before but couldn’t resist this book with that blurb

Thinking about 1-clicking Pandemonium by Bella Jewel – she is one of my absolute fav authors and I totally love her books. I have read most by her, but I think I will wait with this one until the rest in the series are released.

But great list this week and there is still a few up there that sound awesome 🙂

OK ….so in between releases I broke down and started the Indebted series…First book was free, must be a sign for me to read it- right?!?! *twisting hair because I am anxious*. I am on book 2 and I think I need a break…this series has me so twisted up *reaching for a blankie…and chocolate*

DG you go back because it’s just so good! You just have to know how it turns out! I remember thinking those same thoughts myself reading Indebted. It’s was so f%#cked up at times but yet, you just keep reading and reading. That book illicited dark thoughts for me. I want vengeance!! And I needed my hero to redeem himself! And there was no glass of wine with that series, it was straight from the bottle!

MichelleS, I want to read them. I believe had the first from the library last year but just never read it.

I agree with Tessa, Cristina & DG… Consequences is darker than Indebted and Monsters in the Dark in my opinion… Not as dark as Life of Anna though…

Fabi, I’ve read some of the Ghostwalker series but I didn’t keep up very well. Glad you liked Edgelanders. I just found the whole book entertaining and enjoyed the world.

Shadow and Bone I do have but I think I’m still on a paranormal kick. I’m in the mood for a PNR, heavy on the romance. Any suggestions?

Jennifer, nope. Number four got a lower rating than the rest from me. It was a satisfying ending, but I wish it hadn’t taken so long to get to it.

*yawns* No book right now. I was up all night with Make Me Sin. It ended up being awesome. Just pure emotion. There wasn’t much rockstar life, which is usually a pre-requisite for me. However, it still worked because the timing was around a wedding and it was her POV, not his. It really tugged at the heartstrings. I wish he would have played some of the music they were talking about to her, but it wasn’t necessary and I get why it didn’t happen. So good.

I think I found something. I swear I’m in a weird mood. I’m reading this, enjoying it, but thinking, ‘Huh. Wonder if there’s something else?’

Michelle, I read the reviews that it’s not good, but I think you would like it. The big complaint I told you all about. CH. BIG A** CH. The big thing is, this is a lead you to point B type book. Knowing that might be a really good reason to wait for the next book.

That said, there isn’t as much conversation as normal. She’s starting to take control of that issue she was scared of in the last book. The Dani thing becomes far more interesting and complex. Some of that is done without words too. The Barrons thing, it’s explained but is still out there waiting to be understood, if that makes sense?

If nothing else, the book is a growth book. Burned, the group is stagnant and dealing with the emotional repercussions of the first six books or stuff that’s happening in that book. This one, they grow and deal. Next book. *inserts a bunch of swear words here* I re-read that CH and Yeah. There are some interesting things going to happen.

First line Thursday: “The boy and the girl had once dreamed of ships, long ago, before they’d ever seen the True Sea.” – Siege and Storm (The Grisha Book 2).

I’m still on a Fantasy kick. I think the next book needs to be light. Coming of Age. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens agenda kind of feel. Any suggestions?

Then tackling Siebring. Then Maryse’s 5 star rec….. I think (until I get sidetracked again).

Bev…it *does* feel good to do that! 😀 Even though I’m still one-clicking at least a handful of books every week (some of them are freebies or on sale though!), I’ve still stuck with my personal challenge. I’ve NEVER stuck with something like this so devotedly, and it feels amazing to know I’m actually reading books that have been sitting in my library for like 3 years!

Oh man…Groupie…so, the first 30% I’m thinking, this is supposed to be angsty? Pshhh, this is nothin’. She knew what she was getting into and what does she see in him anyway? He’s not even that all that appealing as an H. Whatever. At 40-50%…okay, *squirms in seat* now I’m getting some feels. Then at about 65%…*WHOOMPH* <——— that's the sound of my a$$ getting knocked to the ground after getting smacked in the face with a humble pie for thinking my angst tolerance was enough to keep me from feeling any angst from this book. 😛

Michelle S when you need a break from your fantasy kick try Confessions of a Tomcat or Truth or Beard. Both light and funny.

Amy I am impressed you’re sticking yo your resolution of reading your old purchases and not buying too many new shiny’s.

With Groupie, I loved the angst and the emotion but not the type of drama that it contained, if that makes sense. I was hurting and freaking out for her because of the turmoil she was in but not for “them” because I just didn’t like him (Vanni, the H) all that much. Some of the things he did were just too much for me, and there was one part where he said some things which were just cruel. For me he never really redeemed himself. 😕

I can say, however, that as much as I wanted to shake Andy for her addiction to Vanni, and as burned out as I was by all of the back and forth in the last part, I did love how honest she was with herself about how foolish she was in wanting a relationship with him. SHE is what kept me reading it. 😉

Ditto Lisa. It can literally ruin a book for me if the H does something unforgivable and the h forgives too easily. (or at all in some cases)
