BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!! THIS. *leaving it here*
➜ ➜ Bounty (Colorado Mountain Series Book 7)) by Kristen Ashley on preorder ➜ ➜
“…when the foundation of her life is pulled out from under her, grieving, she goes to the mountains to find her oasis. She hits Carnal, Colorado and decides to stay…”
And then she meets Deke. :D!!!!!!
Happy NEW RELEASE day!!! I still need to choose my next read (after my love-fest with my latest read… I’m still in a book fog, and you can see my review here ➜ Book Review – Here to Stay by Suanne Laqueur BUT!!! There are a few here that are tickling my book-blurb fancy. In fact, there are three involving falling in love with a cop and I love the sound of ’em! Wanna see my mini blurb-jolt list?
Like… Infinity (she’s dying and has a wonderful husband and an ex that still loves her so much), Ultimate Sin (already lots of great reviews, and she’s a slave with a new master), Needing To Fall (sounds so emotionally dark, and THIS one has so many awesome reviews already, that I’m thinking I need to jump in ASAP), Three Sacred Words (I love this author, and this one’s about a single mom falling for a cop), Pandemonium (biker-prez’s daughter falling for a forbidden cop), Submerged (one night stand with an undercover cop that results in a baby!!), and Tequila and Tingles (her anonymous one night stand ends up being her daughter’s coach!). And even more fun looking reads (or angsty reads!!) that I highlighted below.
Let me know if you pick one. 😀
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! )

Marsye, if it helps I read Rachel Robinson’s book- completed my 3 with her. I was happy for the switch up after Suanne Lacquers books.
OH YES Theresa!!
I’m on a 3-book series roll right now!!! Okay, thank you for that recommendation!!! 😀
You’re right Maryse. Resisting Her sounds incredible. Sin and Suffer sounds insanely good.
I could go mental on today’s list. I want to one-click every single one on here.
*breath, in, out* alright, I’m going to go ahead and one-click my auto-buy Spider Game and then I’m taking a break and coming back to this list. *whew* so many great sounding books.
LOL Fabi!!!!
Even my mini-list has two more than usual. 😉
Maryse! Feb 2 is also the release day for Grave Visions by Kalayna Price. Anyone who read the series got an abrupt stop when personal issues stopped her from writing, but now she’s releasing her fourth book! *squees*
I’m not looking at books this week. Nope! I’ve got to be good for a little while, especially since March will be so expensive book wise. Also, I want to buy the rest of the imp books. Speaking of which! The first book is free this week until Thursday! *grins*
I just added Grave Visions to today’s list, Tessa. Thank you SO MUCH!!! 😀
See?!? It’s all about the covers with me…Infinity and Needing to Fall were automatic one-clicks for me not just because of the blurbs (*happy wiggle dance*) but the covers as well. On the other hand, I REALLY want to read Noah because of the blurb but can’t get past that cover enough to click it. I must really be getting old with how much I can’t stand this whole full-face beard trend. 😕 All I can think of is Melissa McCarthy in Identity Thief telling Robert Patrick his beard smells like sandwiches. *shudder*
And that cover for Spider Game…how hauntingly GORGEOUS is that??
beards should NEVER smell like sandwiches. Beards should never smell.
*shudders*
Kind of like how some foods smell wonderful but there is NO food that smells good on someone’s breath…including my own…
I have issues. *sigh* I own it.
Amy, my thoughts on that Noah cover is the same as EVERY cover by that model. Why is he grabbing his hair? Seriously, one or two pictures, sure. However, I have yet to see a picture of him not grabbing his hair. The man has a fetish!
Infinity is going to hurt. *shies away* And I like her stuff, but… OUCH! Something tells me that’s pure ugly tears.
Great list Maryse! Thank you 🙂
I am on a reading slump. Nothing is catching my attention :/
“Why is he grabbing his hair?” <—— LOL!!!!!
You know another thing that bothers me with book covers is if they are dated…and putting guys with beards on the cover will *definitely* date a book. What's funny though is how Jojo Moyes' books all have a 1970s feel to the covers, and yet it doesn't bother me at all because I KNOW they aren't from the '70s and it's almost like a signature style for her.
Yep, Infinity should be very emotional and hurt and I'm gonna love that! Kind of like Before I Go…which I have *every* intention of reading for that reason. 😉
Anne…anything in particular you are in the mood for?
Beautifully Toxic (Toxic Love Series Book 1) was unexpectedly hilarious. KENNICK was really good, first book in a series about a group of gypsies. Both were pretty quick reads…quick but good.
I just finished so many great reads . . . The Score, Kaleidoscope Hearts, The Baller, Appealed, Pucked Over. The list for today makes my head spin. Fish Tales has been calling me for a while now and tag, it’s it!
By the way, Appealed was fantastic and met my expectations. So sad to have the series ending. I can’t imagine there’s more, but you never know.
Pucked Over was a great read too. But there is no mention of the next book. I’m going to go out on a limb and think maybe Lance? Oh, and isn’t the cover for Pucked Over the same bearded guy that is all over the place?
I just started the Infidelity series by Aleatha Romig. Not what I expected but in a good way. I’m 80% in and it’s one of those that’s start slow, but then gets so good you can’t put it down. FYI, the first book in her Consequences series is free right now. Haven’t read that one either, so I one-clicked it! Score! I also read Touch Me Not by Apryl Baker (Manwhore series #1) and that too was awesome! 2016 has been so freaking awesome so far!!
I forgot to add that the first Consequences book is free on Amazon. 😉
I have Appealed in line Sharon! I really love that series. It’s sad to see it go, but I’m excited to see what Emma Chase comes up with next. She’s only of my one-click authors. She’s a master at witty banter! 🙂
If you enjoyed the Imp series, you will also love the Sensor series.
Cristina, Consequences looks very interesting!
Oh Cristina… Consequences will blow your f@cking mind. One of the darkest series I have ever read. Crazy , twisted, mind messery! Loved it!
I’m at 55% of Kulti, its a long one!
Amy I am up for anything really. I just want an epic read lol
I loved the Consequences series! It was so so amazing! Highly recommend it!
1 clicked Written In Red since you guys have continued to rave about it.
I agree about the cover-a great cover is what grabs my attention. The “posed, sexy” guy or “Harlequin” throw-back cover is a turn off. Hate to say but I prefer the cover with the male model’s head cut off a’ la The Deal/Mistake/Score. *ahem, mind out of the gutter Amy*
Anne, I’m with you on the reading slump. Just last week I was saying I was overwhelmed with so many good reads to choose from and now this week. NOTHING.
WiR! *fist pump*
Know what many of us liked? Jellicoe Road. *coughs loudly*
Sounds like Consequences is next on my list! I just love it when I find not just a free book, but one on my TBR list! *fist pump* plus I LOVE a good mind screw! It’s been a while. Right now I am 25% in the second book of Romig’s Infidelity series and it rocks! This series isn’t about infidelity so to speak. No cheating. Infidelity means something very different in this story. Don’t want to say too much. I like this series because it’s different. Not predictable. Keeps my head in the game.
Bev… I’ve got my eye on Jellicoe Road too 😉
Yesss….. I should finish Jellicoe Road. 😉
I know I’ll love it.
Amy
I am with you on the beards. The sooner this trend is over the better. I find nothing sexy about it and the book covers kind of turn me off. Ok I’m off my bandwagon now…just had to get that off my chest!
Maryse, its ok if you don’t. Don’t finish or like it. Lol. Just might not be the right fit.
I don’t mind the beards. *shrugs*
More inclined to scrunch up my face at guys who do highlights or wax, lol.
Finished Something Secret This Way Comes. *grins* I’m going to start devouring the rest of those after I’ve finished the imp series. I’ve been on a good role recently. All the books have been GOOD. However, that means I’m staring at my TBR with my mouth hanging with zombie sounds of uhhh… book…
Tessa, you don’t follow the ghostwalker series? That would seem to be so up your alley. I bet Michelle and even MichelleS would like that series.
no to beards
yes to good books
In case anyone was wondering. *snicker*
Oh beards are wonderful! but only if they are Franggy Yanez style hipster beards not weird serial killer style beards…or worse, year ten nerdy maths teacher beards! Yikes.
I am actually drawn to covers that don’t have ripped torso’s or hot dudes on them, beard or not. I like arty modern looking covers (f@#k love or Heart-shaped Hack) or obscure ones like Badger. They stand out for me. Also I don’t love being given an image for a MC I’d prefer to dream them up all on my own. Case in point the cover for Jay Crownovers books……not how I imagined any of these guys and actually messing with my dreamed up visuals.
C’Mon Fabi.
Put a beard on it.
Usually prefer clean shaven. But like MichelleS once pointed out hot is hot. If he is gorgeous prob still so with a beard. Like Charlie Hunnam.
So many pretties on this list Maryse.
I have Perfect Life, Beautiful Burn, Wicked Sexy Liar all pre-ordered.
And just added Anatomy of a Player and Dirty Tricks to my lust list (I cant resist jerk-faced rockers or hockey players).
Huge kudos to Claire Kent for bundling a two book series. Why cant they all be bundled 🙁
And I will urge you all again to click away on Carolina Cold Fury bundle. These guys are hot hot hot. I love this series, its like my happy place between angsty heartbreaker books. A bit like a KA fix…you know you’re going to get the HEA with a few bumps on the way.
Yes Bev I agree.
Like Jason Momoa!
Even with morning after eyeliner, a weird beard pony tail and dracula eyebrows he is smoking hot. Basically, he’d look great with my nerdy year 10 math teachers beard.
God is it getting hot in here *frantically fans face*
Right? He could rock that look. There are times I think Johnny Depp was trying to look anything but hot and nope he still did.
Amy, #5 just for you.

I’m with Fabi. No beard. Also, Franggy Yanez is the hair grabber. It’s just weird that everyone is choosing a picture of him grabbing his hair. For romances, I’m drawn to simple, but pretty. Also, color has to be there. Some colors turn me off a book. All yellows, browns or white usually turn me off. Black and white work, and could look very sharp, but the others just say “bland” to me.
Bev… words…
Gonna show my age here but… scraggly hair, long beard, full of tats and baggy clothes still screams homeless to me instead of sexy :-0
Cheryl I know! I was so excited about all the new releases and now nothing is grabbing my attention :/
Well I decided to finally read At Peace by KA. I love KA so I hope this book ends my reading slump.
Enough with that bearded guy already. Covers? Well, they can ruin a book or series for me. When I saw Badtian’s storm with Evan & Badtian I was like “ick”… Not hot. I put off reading that book because of it. On the flip side, I probably rate Rhev’s book way too high in BDB series cause I loved his cover!!!
Ghost walkers Fabi? How’d I miss that?
Michelle, Bev, Fabi, Tessa… Who else is fantasy buff?? This series is awesome… The Grisha…I’m on book two. Totally up your alley I think.
Homeless. *snickers*
I think there should be more pink and red covers. I display all my hard cover books by colour and there is a distinct lack of these colours. See….I might not make spread sheets but Im still OCD and proud!
And yes…that cover of Bastians Storm is ‘ick’.
Again usually prefer clean shaven but some just look good *shrug*
Charlie Hunnam, Jason Momao, Joe Magnaniello, Ryan Gosling, Idris Elba, Viggo Mortensen. Sean Connery.
I think a lot of times YA does covers better.
I like Rainbow Rowell’s covers. Jellicoe Road. Vengeance Road. I liked those ones. Station Eleven, Dumplin & Kulti. All good covers. I like the real pretty kinda girly ones too.
Tessa, that doesn’t do it for you? Lol.
https://mashable.com/2014/12/11/beard-baubles-hipster-gift/
Where do you find this stuff Bev!!! Those beards are ugly enough without the baubles. Too funny.
Anne
At Peace is my favorite book of KA. Joe is one of my top 5 book boyfriends. Enjoy!
Oh God Bev! Baubles?!? Seriously?!? Lol! I find some guys sexy with a beard. The ones you mentioned for example. HOT!
Julie o I am at 8% and really liking it! Joe is pretty hot! Love how alpha and straight forward he is.
I thought Id read all of KAs books but dont think I have after reading the blurb for At Peace. Got the latest one to read too.
Bev, cracked me up with the list. Great way to start the day!!!
Yeah, covers can make or break the decision to even read the book. There’s one that keeps popping up based on my amazon choices- Slave To Love- just ick can’t get past the cover to even read the blurb. See that one is a prime example of why I like the head’s cut off on covers. Nice body but the face and his facial expression just, no.
Cheryl, glad it gave you a laugh.:-)
Anne, that was my very first KA. I want to say around when I found this blog. Though just a looky loo.
Alright ladies. Tips on getting through an eight hour, very busy, work day after a night of insomnia?
Bleh. Do not like those nights on a work night.
But got some reading in.
Cheryl – heads cut off on covers? heehee…. yup…. look at After Hours, perfect example. I agree 100%
And Bev – we gotta go prowl in a bar sometime – 100X yes to all those men you listed – clean, a little dirty, some facial hair – I will take them any way they come.
No takers on The Grisha?
I’m looking up The Grisha right now. I’m all into fantasy caught up in Michelle’s rec of Edgelanders. I’m on book two.
I have my Feb reads lined up so tightly back to back that I think it will be March before I surface again. But I’m off to Amazon to check out The Grisha because March will come around quickly. 🙂
I read the Grisha a long while ago. I think the library has it? I honestly don’t remember much beyond a boat trip to another land for some war? I think that’s what it was for? That should tell you how long ago it was. At this point, I’d have to re-read the book. I do remember I liked it, though thought it got a little overly wordy in places.
Baubles on beards? Uck. Here’s the thing for me. I don’t mind scruff or some tight, close beards, but this fluffy crap looks wrong. Charlie Hunnum’s beard works because it’s the same color as his skin. It just makes his face look longer. Even then, when it’s too long, it looks BAD. Other than that, nope. No scruffy, over-sized beards!
Hey Aly Martinez put Fighting Shadows on sale for .99 so read before her #3 comes out 2/2. This series is good. Poor boys get into fighting for money to survive but find their girls.
I just finished book #2 of the Infidelity series by Aleatha Romig. Imagine my utter heartbreak when I found out that book #3 doesn’t release until May! AND #2 ended in a major cliffhanger! I only have myself to blame. I ALWAYS research a series to make sure they are all out, or very close, and I didn’t this time. *hangs head down in shame* Why oh why!!! Plus, there’s apparently going to be 5 books in this series. I’m utterly heartbroken. It was just getting so good too!!! *mourning* Maybe starting Consequences will mend my broken heart. I HATE book funk. 🙁
Debbie, Thanks for the recommendation about the Sensor series!! I started the first one last night and am loving it!!
You are going to read Consequences? It was good, but you might ant a bean bag or something to beat in anger while reading it. I swore a LOT when I read it. 😛
Noted Tessa! Those kinds of books are my FAVORITE! I can’t wait! May need some wine with this series! 😉
Maryse, what are you reading?
I pre-ordered Three Dirty Secrets by Nikki Sloane – great author and nobody writes steamy scenes as her.
Just 1-clicked Claiming Eden by Kele Moon – loved the first two books, Sweet Revenge by Claire Kent – she never disappoints,
Ultimate Sin by Clarissa Wild – haven’t read anything by this author before but couldn’t resist this book with that blurb
Thinking about 1-clicking Pandemonium by Bella Jewel – she is one of my absolute fav authors and I totally love her books. I have read most by her, but I think I will wait with this one until the rest in the series are released.
But great list this week and there is still a few up there that sound awesome 🙂
Oooh, Cristina… here’s Manny… and some wine… and the blanket fort. And… god, what else will she need Tessa?? Consequences is ROUGH! Fantastic, but it is uber dark and rough!
Beards…baubles? wtf planet have I landed on and where is my wine?
Still reading Kulti… LOL! Not much to report on my end.
OK ….so in between releases I broke down and started the Indebted series…First book was free, must be a sign for me to read it- right?!?! *twisting hair because I am anxious*. I am on book 2 and I think I need a break…this series has me so twisted up *reaching for a blankie…and chocolate*
I need a mood lifting feel good HEA that I can read in between… Any suggestions???
I would gladly snuggle with Manny, in my blanket fort, with my wine and some sort of chocolate. Brownies, cupcakes, Reese cups… All of the above?! I’m so excited for this series! It begins tonight! 🙂
My take on beards? Blah! Maybe some sexy scruff, but that’s about it. Thick beards creep me out. Too many hiding places for all sorts of creepy and yucky stuff!
DG maybe you should take a turn with Manny first? Indebted was a freaking roller coaster ride for me! It really was a mindf%#ck! Definitely need wine, chocolate, and blankies for that one! It seriously rocked my world!
DG… Get some wine. Though, not as dark as Consequences, there are times it gets dark. *hands over blanky fort and wine* Also, um, expect to be on some Homeland Security list by the time you’re done. I think everyone who reads it ends up on there from looking stuff up.
I was in a book rut after the Secret McQueen book. I finally am reading the book mentioned above, Make Me Sin. *grins* I love a good rockstar book and this guy needs to be bopped in the nose.
Cristina… uh… Consequences was FAR darker to me than Indebted was. Just an FYI.
MichelleS, exactly what I was talking about!! 🙂
Consequences sounds interesting but I am not in the mood to read a LONG series right now. Putting it on the tbr list.
Beards? For this one, a little is better, otherwise makes me think of Duck Nation, and the thought of what the h&ll is stuck in there, yuck!!
EEK! Thanks for the heads up Tessa! Im mentally preparing myself. Is it darker than Monsters in the Dark?
Cristina I am feeling your heartbreak over the shock CH. Why isnt there a warning: Proceed with caution: major cliffhanger ahead.
DG The Indebited series is a mind twister. It is definately on the end of my gut twisting mind f#$k spectrum and almost pyshed me over the limit. I seriously dont know how Amy does it!
I think you need a KA in between books just for that heart healing HEA. 🙂
*pushed
*tilts head* Cristina, I thought so? However, my teenage years was filled with historical romances, especially kidnapped and sent to harem types. 🙂
*curls up in blanket fort, hugging Manny with blankie over our heads while holding wine in one hand and chocolate in the other*. I just want it to be OVER! And I am only on book 2!!! Why, WHY do I keep going back to read more?!?
Tessa – I’m sure HLS already has my name from some of my other searches. I have no idea were folks come up with some of this stuff!
Lisa, I might have to alternate between KA and rereading Wallbanger -Clive the cat sends me into fits of laughter.
Thanks for lending me Manny and the blanket fort and wine, Cristina and Tessa!
*shaking head in agreement* yep, I remember those historical romances fondly from my teenage years also. Not sure that CR was popular then or that there was just so many more historicals around.
DG you go back because it’s just so good! You just have to know how it turns out! I remember thinking those same thoughts myself reading Indebted. It’s was so f%#cked up at times but yet, you just keep reading and reading. That book illicited dark thoughts for me. I want vengeance!! And I needed my hero to redeem himself! And there was no glass of wine with that series, it was straight from the bottle!
Shush! Cristina, that was suppose to be my secret. *nudges bottle under blankie*
I agree – I have to KNOW, I want Nila to have a HEA and if she doesn’t I will be livid!
MichelleS, I want to read them. I believe had the first from the library last year but just never read it.
Dinner & then reading time. 🙂
I agree with Tessa, Cristina & DG… Consequences is darker than Indebted and Monsters in the Dark in my opinion… Not as dark as Life of Anna though…
Wow. Life of Anna filed in my ‘never to be attempted’ list then Grey. Indebted was at my limit.
I was wondering about that Grey. Thanks for the comparison.
Gah! RL strikes again and I missed a HUGE list! I have a shorter shift tomorrow so need to pick out a good read. Not sure what I’m in the mood for?
Tessa, yeyyy I seriously loved book 5! Chickens hilarious but it didn’t beat the airport security scene for me in book 4. I still can giggle over it.
Alright I need to read over this list and maybe find my next read or go to the good ol’ tbr…I should but look at all the new pretties!
Debbie, the Sensor series is completely new to me – thank you for the rec!
Fabi, I’ve read some of the Ghostwalker series but I didn’t keep up very well. Glad you liked Edgelanders. I just found the whole book entertaining and enjoyed the world.
Shadow and Bone I do have but I think I’m still on a paranormal kick. I’m in the mood for a PNR, heavy on the romance. Any suggestions?
On the last book of the Indebted series now…don’t get me wrong, I love Pepprt Winters but this series should have been done in 5… I’m reading the 6th now because I’m invested but often rolling my eyes…and thinking, “wrap it up already”. Enough of the evil winning over good and dragging out the HEA.. Do I sound cynical?!
*throws a peanut at Michelle* Over the Hill and Far Away by Kelli Jean.
erm, when in contemporary mode. Have you read Secret McQueen?
Jennifer, nope. Number four got a lower rating than the rest from me. It was a satisfying ending, but I wish it hadn’t taken so long to get to it.
*sighs* Number six* I had someone say four as I typed.
*takes a peanut to the forehead* KU and great ratings, I’m reading it when I feel like CR. Oh I want to read the Secret series too, sounds fun. I just started the Chicagoland Vampires series back up though, since I’m getting sleepy and wanted to start a book tonight at least. It’s not exactly what I want but I have all the books so why not.
Michelle – PNR heavy on the Romance – did you ever read The Nightwalkers by J. Frank? New Species series by L. Dohnner? The Breeds by L. Leigh? Elemental Mysteries series? Scansguards Vampires? The Big Bad Wolf series? hmmm….. trying to think of the not so well known ones.
I have not clicked on the links….but I want the cup, socks, & locket. Seriously.

First line.
“Nick.” ~Sebring by KA.
Lol. Boring one today.
Should finish today, then back to my tbr.
Amy, it feels good to focus so much on what I already have.
*yawns* No book right now. I was up all night with Make Me Sin. It ended up being awesome. Just pure emotion. There wasn’t much rockstar life, which is usually a pre-requisite for me. However, it still worked because the timing was around a wedding and it was her POV, not his. It really tugged at the heartstrings. I wish he would have played some of the music they were talking about to her, but it wasn’t necessary and I get why it didn’t happen. So good.
*stares at Kindle, willing an awesome book to appear*
Okay… for the “Make Me Sin” book, that’s awesome to know, Tessa. I’m excited!!!
Holy moly, ladies…I miss a day and I miss A LOT!!! And I miss y’all!!
First of all, dyed and baubled beards? No, Bev. No. F&$%ing ugly. *snort* And the ONLY way Jason Mamoa could pull off that crazy bearded look was because of his GOT character. Oh, but the “bad lip reading” video? Hilarious!!!!! I’m addicted to those videos now. 😉
Second, book covers with the guy’s head cut off…hey, as long as the head that matters isn’t cut off then I’m totally fine with a faceless guy! 😛
Lastly…first line Thursday!! “The sting of antiseptic crawled up my nose and roused me from the deep sleep, one that had wrapped itself around me like a tight cocoon.” ~ Groupie by Ginger Voight
I LOVE the bad lip reading videos. HILARIOUS. I can watch those over and over again. The sports ones are my favorite.
*throws another Over the Hill and Far Away by Kelli Jean peanut at Amy* You’d like it.
MichelleS, I haven’t read the Scansguard Vampires. I have the first book but if it has a good amount of romance, I will move it up my list. Read the rest and liked them all. Agree they fit the bill for PNR with a good amount of romance. You would probably like Scent of Salvation by Annie Nicholas. I just read it last week and liked it a lot. It’s a fun read and the world was interesting.
I might be stuck in a paranormal kick for a while. Yes, I will get to Feverborn…eventually. I keep seeing bad reviews though and pushing it back.
First Line Thursday:
‘I’m super wasted.’
Pucked Up by Helena Hunting
I think I found something. I swear I’m in a weird mood. I’m reading this, enjoying it, but thinking, ‘Huh. Wonder if there’s something else?’
Michelle, I read the reviews that it’s not good, but I think you would like it. The big complaint I told you all about. CH. BIG A** CH. The big thing is, this is a lead you to point B type book. Knowing that might be a really good reason to wait for the next book.
That said, there isn’t as much conversation as normal. She’s starting to take control of that issue she was scared of in the last book. The Dani thing becomes far more interesting and complex. Some of that is done without words too. The Barrons thing, it’s explained but is still out there waiting to be understood, if that makes sense?
If nothing else, the book is a growth book. Burned, the group is stagnant and dealing with the emotional repercussions of the first six books or stuff that’s happening in that book. This one, they grow and deal. Next book. *inserts a bunch of swear words here* I re-read that CH and Yeah. There are some interesting things going to happen.
I think it’s interesting how we sometimes have different takes on the same book. I really liked Burned when so many of you didn’t. I did not like Feverborn, so maybe most of you will love it. 🙂
First line Thursday:
listening to:
“My name is Monroe Davis, and this is the story of how I found home.” Nowhere Ranch by Heidi Cullinan
and reading:
“It’s been three days, Your Majesty.” Sorrow’s Peak (Serpent of Time book 2) by Jennifer Melzer
and
I am in book heaven. Both of these are so good that I can’t decide on my lunch break if I should listen to one or read the other.
First line Thursday: “The boy and the girl had once dreamed of ships, long ago, before they’d ever seen the True Sea.” – Siege and Storm (The Grisha Book 2).
I’m still on a Fantasy kick. I think the next book needs to be light. Coming of Age. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens agenda kind of feel. Any suggestions?
Then tackling Siebring. Then Maryse’s 5 star rec….. I think (until I get sidetracked again).
Fabi – soooooooo…… who do you like in Serpent of time? The elf or the wolf???? I was torn…..
Bev…it *does* feel good to do that! 😀 Even though I’m still one-clicking at least a handful of books every week (some of them are freebies or on sale though!), I’ve still stuck with my personal challenge. I’ve NEVER stuck with something like this so devotedly, and it feels amazing to know I’m actually reading books that have been sitting in my library for like 3 years!
MichelleS! I read that second book. I remember the first time they were at sea. Maybe I just was waiting for the third book? I think number two I really liked. I was thinking when I saw what you listed how much I liked the book once they hit the sea. 😀
Tessa…I clicked it ’cause that sounds GOOD!
Oh man…Groupie…so, the first 30% I’m thinking, this is supposed to be angsty? Pshhh, this is nothin’. She knew what she was getting into and what does she see in him anyway? He’s not even that all that appealing as an H. Whatever. At 40-50%…okay, *squirms in seat* now I’m getting some feels. Then at about 65%…*WHOOMPH* <——— that's the sound of my a$$ getting knocked to the ground after getting smacked in the face with a humble pie for thinking my angst tolerance was enough to keep me from feeling any angst from this book. 😛
Finished Stinger by Mia Sheridan and as usual with her books I loved it! Not my favorite from hers but still great!
Now I dont know if I should read Abruption by Rile MacKenzie or The Dark Ones by Rachel Van Dyken.
Michelle S when you need a break from your fantasy kick try Confessions of a Tomcat or Truth or Beard. Both light and funny.
Amy I am impressed you’re sticking yo your resolution of reading your old purchases and not buying too many new shiny’s.
I’m hopeless….new release day comes and I’m like a doomsday prepper hoarding books.
First line Friday:
”There are no facts, only interpretations’ Friedrich Nietzsche had said that.’
Fearless by Lauren Gilley
Amy, that book (trilogy) I threw as a peanut is on my top whatever of 2015. I was actually sobbing at one point, and it had nothing to do with what you all are thinking!
Tessa just got Over the Hill and Far Away by Kelli Jean. It sounds so good!
MichelleS, Act Like it was a nice light CR. But can’t think of one like Simon.
You know what I wanted this morning? One like Deeper, lol.
MichelleS I’m actually on the second book now, 40+%, and there is NO WAY I can choose between the elf and the wolf. Me??? I’d take both. 😉
*grins* I hope you like it Anne.
AMY. (and our makeup crew!!!!!)
Lookit: https://www.temptalia.com/too-faced-peanut-butter-jelly-eye-shadow-palette-for-spring-2016
Perfect for our peanut gallery. 😛
Lisa – ooh – Fearless – I loved that one. Mercy Mercy Mercy…. what a man.
Oh I am so excited about that palette! Love the colors and its smells like peanut butter!
I’m so hungry for pb&j now
Amy, when I saw that your were reading Groupie, my first thought was that Amy has met her angst match. That series was one of the most *angsty* one’s I have ever read. My poor stomach was in some kind of complicated origami knot for days.
First line thursday:
“Some nights, Jeanine Jewell hated herself.” Playing Catch: A Baseball Romance by Rachelle Ayala. It’s ok; every time I think it’s good, the writing turns meh. Gonna stick with it because the story itself has somewhat of a mystery to it and I want to see how that turns out.
OMG AMY IS READING GROUPIE?!!?? *gasp* Now THAT one hurts HARD. :D!!!!!
Love that palette, but not sure about the peanut butter smell. Don’t know if I want to smell like PB& J.
Tessa, is that trilogy a continuation of the same story or different characters each book?
I know MichelleS! It is an awesome book and the writing is wonderful.
I am a bit perplexed as to why I haven’t read this series before now. I’m trying to take a leaf out of Amy’s book (note the book word play) and read some of my tbr list.
Makes me wonder how many gems I have already downloaded and buried in my tbr file!
Not sure about peanut butter scented makeup! And I seriously do not understand pb&j?? Probably like most non Aussies don’t understand the wonder of vegemite.
*GASP* I. WANT. THAT. PALETTE!!!!! Those colors are FABULOUS!! I know I’m shouting a lot but how freaking unique is that one?!? Mine, mine, MINE. And the whole “peanut” theme…yes, it IS perfect for our PG!
Hey…if I wear it with cake-scented lotion then I can smell like peanut butter cake. *sing-songy voice* I’m gonna get luuuu-ckyyyy!! 😛
Oh Lisa…I’m STILL buying new pretty books like crazy, but I’m forcing myself to stick with a reading pattern so that I will finally get to books I purchased up to 3 years ago. It’s still tough though when I see y’all going crazy over new releases and they don’t fall in my current reading year. *sigh*
Ooooh! Still hungry for PB&J, Maryse?
https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/peanut-butter—n–jelly-cake
Also Lisa…PB&J sandwiches are the ULTIMATE comfort food. 😉 My favorite is creamy peanut butter with seedless blackberry or boysenberry jam on super soft white bread with a huge glass of milk. *drooooooooool*
Love a pb&j. But not sure I would want to smell like pb. I think I associate the smell as a childhood scent. Little kids smelling of pb with sticky “jam hands”
Yes, definitely soft white bread and a very cold glass of milk. Right now love raspberry jam. But like most flavors and if homemade…..
Ewwww Bev. *snicker* I can just picture (and smell) that, LOL!
To be honest, the Too Faced palettes I have that smell like chocolate don’t have an overwhelming scent once they’re applied. But I kind of like the idea of us “smelling” like a peanut gallery. 😛
Cheryl…this one definitely caught me by surprise. I keep thinking that he’s no Kellan and it all shouldn’t bother me, but it’s killin’ me right now! The verbal smack in the face he gave her in the hotel room? Holy. Sh!t. I felt sick at that part. 😕 He’s a jerk. Not a jerk-face (which we actually like ;)) but an actual JERK. I keep trying to tell myself that she brought it on herself so that I’ll feel better but it’s not working…
Cheryl, it’s all one couple. They go through that many doozies of emotions and angst.
My only issue with Groupie is that cover. I keep looking at it. It is my “type”; yet, she looks like a vamp bunny.
Make up that smells like peanut butter? NOPE. Little dude got sick when he wasn’t even two and all he had in his tummy was spoonfulls of peanut butter. Just… nope!
Blech, Tessa! *snort* I think that would kill the smell of PB for me too.
I’m in public right now and my chest is all splotchy. What did Bev call it? Angst hives? Yeah, I have them. I need to put this stupid book away until I get home. Dangit.
Personally, I hope the palette smells more of the jelly (mmm grape and berries) than the peanut butter. Tee hee!! But I am DYING to get this.
I’m going to lay this one ALL on Maryse.
Guess what I had for dinner? Yup, easy guess. PB&J sandwich. It also went great with Bicardi & 7 after a 12 hour work day.
Aaahhh, the pleasures of being an adult. *snort*
Dinner and drinks at Fabi’s!!!!! Woo-hoooo!!!
I’m in! We’ll make it a sandwich fest. 😉 And PB&J martinis! Did you know there’s a PB&J flavored vodka? It’s really not bad at all…
Just had a thought…
’cause of Amy’s comment on beards smelling of sandwiches (tee hee!! That’s bad enough!!) Imagine peanut-butter beard? *wrinkles nose*
hahaha sandwiches is about as good as I can “cook”
I used to be the same way Fabi… hated cooking and now I’m hooked on it. I LOVE cooking… All the buzzfeed and simplified recipes on Facebook really have helped me. And the “healthy alternatives” like instead of chicken-fried rice, it’s chicken-fried CAULIFLOWER (that has been grated to act like the rice). OMG SO healthy and SO good.
Now I wanna try to make all the crazy-style gourmet PB&Js.
Oh I love a good PB&J sandwich. Thats like the king of comfort foods.
Reading Over the Hills and Far Away and really liking it so far, but Tessa what’s up with all the pot smoking? Lol
lol I know! Most people get together and have a drink. These guys get together and smoke a lot of pot instead.
“Did you know there’s a PB&J flavored vodka? It’s really not bad at all…” You make me proud, my friend. Seriously. All kinds of proud. *giggle*
And Groupie…&#%$@%$&! What the heck, man. Just…what. The. Heck. *shakes head*
Tee hee!!!
*blushes*
I wish we were all huddled in a real life blankie fort eating PB&J’s, giving ourselves PB&J makeovers and sipping a PB&J vodka martini. Ahhhh the fun!!!!
You’re scaring me Amy. If you…the queen of angsty mind f#$@kery is asking WTF in Groupie, I have no right going anywhere near that book. I have it in hard copy and just looking at it now has my pulse racing and skin prickling. I am such a ‘fraidy cat’.
I am terrified of angst and heartbreak that goes on for years and years.
With Groupie, I loved the angst and the emotion but not the type of drama that it contained, if that makes sense. I was hurting and freaking out for her because of the turmoil she was in but not for “them” because I just didn’t like him (Vanni, the H) all that much. Some of the things he did were just too much for me, and there was one part where he said some things which were just cruel. For me he never really redeemed himself. 😕
I can say, however, that as much as I wanted to shake Andy for her addiction to Vanni, and as burned out as I was by all of the back and forth in the last part, I did love how honest she was with herself about how foolish she was in wanting a relationship with him. SHE is what kept me reading it. 😉
Great review. I too struggle when the H does something REALLY bad or says something unforgivable. I guess it depends how much I have bonded with the H as to how easily I can forgive him or if I simply can’t forgive him at all.
Sometimes I find my connection with the h is weakened if she is forgiving something the H has done that I just morally couldn’t. I like my heroines fierce and ready to rip the H a new one if he’s a douche. 😉
Ditto Lisa. It can literally ruin a book for me if the H does something unforgivable and the h forgives too easily. (or at all in some cases)
That was the thing that redeemed The Groupie for me and ultimately Vanni. The growth curve of both Andi for recognizing her unhealthy addiction and Vanni for what truly was important to him, but boy did it hurt along the way.
