HOLY MOLY there’re over a 100+ new book releases today, so of course, I tried to help y’all out by highlighting a bunch below AND making my own mini blurb-jolt list. Although if you find one that I have’t highlighted, or one that I have, and that you are loving, let me know!! We love the feedback on the “tried-and-trues” 😀
BLURB-JOLT LIST: Okay the ones that make me antsy to read ’em? OF COURSE Broken Prince (gotta get some cliffhanger relief, and I loved the first book… has that awesome old-school new adult feel) Illusion Town (sci-fi that sounds SO GOOD… they both wake up married but don’t remember it, and don’t even know each other), Valley of the Moon (’cause Claudia loved it, and she and I have very similar book tastes – she loves the intense, epic love story type books), Truly Madly Guilty (I LOVE this author, and this one explores three “seemingly happy” families that end up all getting together for a barbecue one night and… “Two months later, it won’t stop raining, and Clementine and Sam can’t stop asking themselves the question: What if we hadn’t gone?” <— YIKES!!!!!!! Sounds SO much right up my alley I can’t even contain my excitement!!), We Are All Made of Stars (says for those of us that loved Me Before You… her husband just came back from being deployed, he’s emotionally withdrawn, and she works in a hospice…) and No Breaking My Heart (sounds so sweet and fun… he’s a pro Baseball player that meets her on a goofy gameshow that they lose, but they take off together on a fun, impromptu trip..). Oh yes… my heart is already swelling with the possibilities.
*sigh* And those aren’t the only ones. Quite a few look awesome (those are the extras I highlighted below), AND I have about three more I want to read badly, but I have to read the book #1s, first. Like… Tapping the Billionaire, and that J.R. Ward series up there to the left, and the latest release from Julianna Keyes.
P.S. ➔ Follow me (and Pimmie AND Hobbit – my sweet puppies – yep, I have a new addition!) on Instagram? That would be SO cool!!!
P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere). P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything!)
Now… take a look at all of the goodies we found (and I’ll keep adding as I find more):

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

The first book in this series, Kick at the Darkness was one of my favorite books last year. It is a crazy apocalyptic zombie ride (run?). 🙂
Oh YAY Fabi I’m adding it now!! 😀
You have a new puppy?! OMG Congrats 🙂
I do Fabi! Actually she’s 6 years old (I just adopted her a few weeks ago) and she’s the “twin” of my Pimmie. 😀
That’s really sweet about Hobbit. Now Pimmie has a friend.
She is SO happy Fabi. They get along great! Little partners in crime. I’m so lucky!!!! 😀
I’m really getting excited for the new CoHo! My friend in LA is getting that one and Renee Carlino’s new one signed for me next month for my B-day! I wish I lived in LA. That’s where all the cool stuff happens.
Yay R!!!! I’ve never been to LA… yeah and cool stuff like earthquakes. :/
Or are we talking Louisiana? LOL!
OMG…Wicked Mafia Prince is calling my name…LOUDLY. I mean have you read the blurb?!?!? Can’t wait to see how this pans out….
DG that one does sound crazy!!!
Seriously?!?! This list is daunting! Lol!
OK Maryse, you are the guinea pig for Truly Madly Guilty!!! It’s too pricey for me right now!
Awww Pimmie and Hobbit….so great Maryse!
It IS pricey… *sigh* but I want to read it, Jean. The drama I am already conjuring in my mind…
DUDE!! This list!
Right off the bat, Truly Madly Guilty (Jean…her books are great!) and Mr. Right are automatic clicks. I see about ten other ones I want, but I’m trying to be good. *snort* Riiiiiiiight, we’ll see how long that lasts. 😛
AMY!!!! What are you reading right now?
I released my debut novel July 21st. The Night He Saved Me by Sarah Stevens.
Congrats on the new addition to your family, Maryse!!! 😀
Los Angeles LOL. She got me Taylor Jenkins Reid last month. I guess I shouldn’t complain…since I can’t go, I don’t have to stand in line! 😉
Congrats on the pup!
Or Lower Alabama….
Maryse…did you get another new pup besides Hobbit????
Nope, DG… 😉 I think our girls just noticed the Hobbit-news. 😛
Lemme post a pic of her…
Yep. I didn’t know! I must have missed it!
They should all open in a new window for you… 😀

UPS GUY now leaves TWO bones!!!
Mini-video (look at Pimmie my bone-hog). LOL!
https://www.instagram.com/p/BHkxAqBjNT8/?taken-by=itsmaryse
Cute!! I love the toothy one!
Thank you R!!!! 😀 She’s a goof and she’s one of those dogs that does that weird smiley-grin when she’s happy to see you.
You take great pictures Maryse!
I can’t believe your UPS guy leaves treats for your dogs. wow Is he cute?
“that weird smiley-grin when she’s happy to see you”
I didn’t know other dogs did that! My brother has a dog that does that – a big dog, so it’s a little ummm – gives you pause if you’re not familiar with it. But he really is just so happy to see you he can’t stop grinning like a human. :-/
Maryse…I just finished the JA Dark Elements prequel (Bittersweet Love) and planned on jumping into the next book, but Truly Madly Guilty is REALLY calling to me right now…
Whatcha thinking of starting? How does TMG sound to you? Nosy minds want to know. 😉
Fabi he kind of is! I mean… in a bald (I think on purpose), seemingly fit, 40-something guy in brown shorts kind of way. LOL!
OMG those pictures and videos…adorable!
Fabi!! That’s exactly what she does. She grins when she’s happy-shy (’cause I’m talking to her in a sweet mommy voice) and the more I do it, that bigger and crazier her grin gets…
and I know she’s being cute, ’cause she immediately rolls over for me to rub her belly (while still grinning – even if she’s upside down). LOL!!!!
Amy that one is calling me, but I too, find that price kind of steep. I’m going to go through my TBR list and see if I’ve promised anyone one on there first (*ahem* I already hear marina screaming Jack & Jill)
Oh yeah and the reason her name is Hobbit (the vet & rescue center named her) is because she doesn’t have much use of her right front leg.
It was broken at some point and didn’t heal correctly… my poor baby. But as you see in the videos, she runs and jumps like it’s nothing.
Fabi and Jean have you read the novella(1.5) Tapping Her? Do I need to read this before reading BtB?
Loved the cover and the blurb for We Are Made of Stars, BUT $13.99!!! And Truly, Madly, Guilty sounds interesting but another pricey one. Had to laugh at the title, Meat.
Maryse, Rawhide=western=Sawbones.
Lol, I’m reading these comments backwards and thought Maryse was describing her husband. I had questions. Like how come Maryse doesn’t know if he is really bald or if it’s just his style.
And why does he only wear brown shorts?
Now I see.
Oh and congrats Maryse on Hobbit. So cute!!
Congrats. They are adorable. Pim knew those bones were going to be there, didn’t she? Lol.
Yay! Puppy pics! So cute. I’m a dog nut. I’m getting a new puppy next week. He’s almost ready to leave his mamma. Another Havanese. Wanted a playmate for my other dog. Hope they get along like yours seem to.
Going to go check out “the list” now.
Amy, I’ve read a couple of TJR’s books. They are great and so memorable! You and Maryse read it first and then maybe I will splurge!
Maryse…Jack and Jill was good from what I remember, I just wasn’t in the right mood for it. But I’ll be the guinea pig for TMG for you guys. 😀
Jean, I was referring to Liane Moriarty’s books…I’ve read a couple and they were really good! I still need to read The Husband’s Secret though.
Cheryl I haven’t read the novella. Jean, have you?
Maryse… Wolfsong. I don’t think you’ll bite your lip over it. In fact, you may or may not need a small box of Kleenex and a large box of chocolates.
btw…super awwwww on UPSman
What TJR book haven’t you guys read?
oh…never mind. I read slow lol.
Fabi, are you going to read it first or just start BtB?
Both Lisa and Jean say we should read the novella first. But that’s going to put me back another day or so on starting BtB.
Fabi, same for me. Starting the novella now.
Im reading the novella to TtB now. Not sure yet if its essential for BtB…..it has a few ‘setting the scence’ moments for Cassie and Thatcher the MCs of Banking. But mostly the honeymoon of Georgia and Kline so far.
Its super short. An hour or so reading at most.
Great feedback Lisa. Thank you.
Maryse your new puppy looks so happy to be part of your family. We adopted our boy Jake earlier this year and now we want to get him a puppy to keep him company.
This is Jake:

awwww Hi Jake 🙂 Blue heeler?
Hey, cute puppies today 🙂
Another wonderful list, Maryse. I would never find all these new books on my own. I heart this blog. *gives happy, heartfelt sigh*
Yes! We’ve always had heelers. Our last one Beau was 16 and a half we hen he died and it broke our hearts. Took us a while before we could even think about another dog.
I love heelers. He’s a beauty!
I know how hard it is to lose a pet whose been with us for so many years. ;-(
Awww Jake is adorable too.
I’m almost convinced one of the Max Monroe authors is Emma Chase. The crude humor could be Meghan Quinn too.
I wonder how Ela is doing? I hope she’s recovering day by day. That was a monster surgery she had.
Yay we are buddy reading BtB!!! I agree read the novella first. Cassie and Thatch are a complete riot. Max Monroe… As a writing duo, you two, whomever you are, your comedic chops are just genius!
I dnf’d the first book, Tapping the Billionaire. It is always a bit odd to not like a book that a whole group of you loved. Same as it is to love a book that a whole group of you dont, lol.
Bev, I dnf’d tapping the billionaire, too.
Just not my type of humor for the most part. But I’m envious. It’s fun to be excited as a group for a book, and to look forward to it with such anticipation.
Well, I thought I was in a BR of BP but no one, *cough* Tessa *cough* is talking, lol.
Oh, well. I’m kind of glued to the tv for next hour anyway.:)
Jan and Bev…Im sorry TtB didnt tick your boxes. I thoroughly enjoyed it but….and at risk of exposing my delicate sensibilities…I struggle with the amount of f#$king language 🙂
…especially from Cassie. It is crude and rough.
Ive wondered if Max Monroe is actually Christina Lauren but Emma Chase sounds even closer. Although I don’t love Emma Chases heros much, they’re no where near as sweet as Kline.
Jan and bev, I dnf’d it too (for now)… but the way these guys are laughing so hard over it, I think I need to try again…
I LOVE your dog Lisa!!! Gah those eyes!!!!!!
I had another MinPin (pixel) and she died at 15… she was my first and I loved her like crazy.
My absolute pleasure, you guys!!! <3
That happened to me recently with a book I was listening to. I think it was Demon Bound? I’d tried it several months ago but couldn’t get into it. Because everyone here loves it so much, I put it in my GBL (go back later) pile instead of straight into dnf. So, I tried it again a couple of weeks ago and not only did I finish it, I ended up 5 starring it.
Moods moods and more moods. So often it really isn’t the book at all.
So right you are Fabi. Sometimes its just timing. If Ive just finished a ‘blow your socks off’ really well written five star book I struggle with anything too light and fluffy. But if Im heart sick and battered after a angst fest I NEED light and fluffy. All in tbe timing.
Finished. And yes it is another soapy soapy cliff hanger.
Yeah I’ve kind of forgotten why I dnf’d TtB. Maybe it was a mood thing? I do like humorous books. (hey, I’m not a total grinch) But I’m not a fan of overuse of swearing. It has to be in context, and gratuitous swearing esp from female characs doesn’t float my boat. Maybe it was that putting me off? Anyhoo, perhaps I should give it a second go. There’s so much luv out there for it.
And I don’t think it’s Christina Lauren. Their writing is better quality IMO. Ow! *ducks under a veritable barrage of peanuts*
I’m reading “Anything but Minor” by Kate Stewart and despite that crazy cover, it is hilarious and so far, so good! Sweet and funny as heck. Goofy things that happen to the heroine (sometimes a it far-fetched… but then again maybe not, ya know?) LOL!!!! Either way, it’s working for me.
Mmmmm. Ok. Lets rule Christina Lauren out then.
What about Ms Torres?? Her h’s can be pretty damn feisty. And smart mouthed.
Tara Sivec?
Share your puppy picture day!!!!
https://instagram.com/p/63y5qJgGwEbB7oK8knPvU-dPcfO3827eKoWcA0/
Oh no DG I can’t see your puppy!!!
awww Loving all the puppy pics. I swear, puppy pile is needed. 😀
Bev, uh… done. *hides face* I literally got it on Sunday night, and read until I fell asleep. Then, first thing the next morning I finished it. Yes, it ends in another CH; Sorry!
I don’t think it’s Alessandra Torres for the same reason Jan says she doesn’t think it’s Christina Lauren. I don’t remember wanting to dnf TtB but I have thought about dnf the novella, Tapping her. I think it is because of the writing’s over-the-top crude humor. That’s what made me think of Meghan Quinn, but I agree it could be Tara Sivec, Bev and the male pov reminds me of Emma Chase’s Tangled. I also keep thinking I’ve read a book that had involved the Maverick’s Football team and think Georgia’s new boss Wes was in it and that’s a clue to who one of the author’s is.
I cant see the puppy…it doesnt load for some reason.
OK Mavericks. I’m looking thru my sports themed books to see if its familiar.
Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully have a series called The Maverick Billionaires???
Ok, I’m warming up to the novella. Started out a little shaky, but has had many LOL moments involving Walter the cat. Just have to take it as a somewhat tongue-in-cheek read.
Deborah Anastasia & Zapata both do that type of humor too.
Yet, I’m assuming it is two with recognizable names when maybe not.
I just figured they would be recognizable otherwise why bother with the secret squirrel pseudonym?
I won’t be able to start it until Friday. 🙁 You guys will likely be done by then.
DG your pic didn’t show up at all for me.
Tessa, no apologies. Just curious as to what you thought about it?
I’m still alive Fabi and crew but in pain. Overall feeling poopie! Pain meds are running out, I can’t seem to get comfy and I don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel! Worst of all! I DONT FEEL LIKE READING! Instead I’m looking what to read and adding to my TBR! I’m so behind on moral annual goal it’s not funny!
I can’t believe y’all missed Hobbits intro! SMH…..show where everyone’s focus is….martinis, forts, matinees, and books.
*gentle hug to Ela*
I hope you are relieved from the pain soon my dear friend. Maybe this is just one of those times to gorge yourself on a tv series and just let the story take you away.
My annual goal not moral
Ela, that’s awful, especially when you can’t even read to distract from pain. I hope each day gets a little (lots) better and maybe you can get something to better control the pain from your MD. And oh yeh, that pretty much sums up our focus around here, except you forgot chocolate!! *HUGS*
I couldn’t either Maryse!
Ela, sending get well wishes your way!
Cheryl, did you finish the novella?
Thank you ladies! *hugs and air kisses* funny thing is I’m at my moms and she has only very basic tv so if anyone needs updates of the news or either convention or Americas got Talent or Ninja Warrior, I’ll hook you up! Internet connection to watch movies or even series is not so good!
Ela, at least you’re at your mom’s where you can get some help and most importantly, all that mom love we all crave when we’re not feeling good.
How long has it been since surgery now? A couple of weeks? I assume you’re working through PT? What do the docs say about the non-stop pain? I think with most surgeries, the 3rd week is the magic one when you notice you might, maybe, be feeling better. Crossing fingers for you.
Hope you’re feeling better soon Ela! Virtual hugs!!
I am reading Carnal (Exiled Book 1) by Victoria Dannan. I saw it on the blog the other day when Maryse put up the Knights of the Black swan post. I hadn’t realized it was a spinoff series. I love her writing style. Funny, sexy, smart, and just really cool world building. Was in a PNR / fantasy kind of mood. Broken Prince didn’t start off with a bang, so I kind of squirreled.
I will agree about the beginning of Broken Prince being almost a disappointment. I wanted more guy wrenching time. That said, the rest felt very real. I did feel like slapping people upside the head though. A lot! I just hope this CH leaves more tummy twist time in the next book.
Conventions, been watching my self.
Yes, I felt like there should of been more to it.
It’s interesting cause I read them straight through but not my favorites.
Yeah! Lol, my. Mom took off to Poland for 2 months a week after surgery, which is probably for best because, well 2-3 weeks of constant mom over love is enough cause then she get bossy and orders people about. Yep in PT and after I’m dying. Finally the MD office called back and I shall be hooked up with more Norco. Also those excersises at home are no joke! I hope you’re right Fabi! Yesterday was 3 weeks and yesterday the hard core PT started! *groans loudly! PT are torturers*!!!!!!
Thanks ladies! *smooches*
So Bev! How you liking the politics? Nah just kidding….that’s a no no subject to discuss without fights lol!
Ela – what surgery did you have? I’m curious cause you said PT… Last summer I had rotator cuff surgery & PT weeks later… It was awful. Slept in a recliner. Needed help getting dressed. No bra. No fun!
I thought FLOTUS knocked it out of the park. But I know, probably shouldn’t make the blog political as fun as it could be.
So funny Maryse, and it’s sooo true, I hope you can hear me screaming READ IT!!!!! I keep thinking to myself… maybe I’m building it up.? But no, I can confidently say that I’m not. You will breeze through all 3 and then definitely want to read the new one too! I PROMISE you! In fact once I finish Broken Prince today, I’m going to do a reread through of the parts of Jack and Jill Series, in particular those with the characters who are in the new book coming tomorrow, One. Yay!!! 🙂
I had my left hip replaced. I already right hip resurfacing also known as The Burmingham Hip. I learned that the Burmingham is no longer a good or safe fit for me so I’ll need a total right hip replacement as well. I was born with hip dysplesia so yeah, I’m one of their younger patients wiith natural causes.
Oh wow Ela… I had no idea!! I hope it provides you relief and was worth the major surgeries.
Lol Bev!
Wanted to mention this deal since I hear great things and see awesome reviews for this bra/bralette:
https://www.victoriassecret.com/bras/just-in-body-by-victoria/easy-push-up-bra-body-by-victoria?ProductID=296373&CatalogueType=OLS
I ordered today to see what the big deal is…
Ela I hope you are feeling better soon. Hip replacement (or any joint replacement is huge).
I could never concentrate on reading after having a general anesthetic or taking pain meds either.
That’s hard Ela. Like Cheryl hope everyday is better.
Do audio books work for you?
Jean I did finish the novella. It started off somewhat over-the-top for me with the crude humor but it did get better. Have now started BtB. You?
Finally reading The Anatomical Shape of the Heart.
Thanks so much! I have my ear buds so maybe I should give it a try.
Oh Ela. (Hugs) sending huge get well wishes your way my friend.
Finished BtB… Now I’m onto a reread of Paper Princess so I can read Broken Prince. I figure then I will be ready to reread The Bourbon Kings and then it will be Hubby’s payday and I will get a new amazon card and get The Angels Share… Its a sickness how much thought I’ve given this LOL!
OK…here is my pup…

Banking the Billionaire was wonderful….Thatch is so damn hot , and foul mouthed spitfire Cassie grew on me. If I could have gagged her character after the billionth f bomb I would have loved her!!
Their banter and prank texts are lol hilarious and chemistry? Nuclear level!! Code red.
5 Jolly Green Giant Super@#$k stars.
Oh and I would suggest you read the novella Tapping Her because it sets this relationship up and gives a good backstory for some of their banter and joking.
Nup. Still not loading for me DG.
Oh…and the MCs in BtB reminded me so much of Kayla and Lachlan from The Play by Karina Halle……..just saying.
FLT – The house is dark and silent when I let myself in through the mudroom off the kitchen. – Broken Prince by Erin Watt.

So apparently I suck when it comes to links and my iPad …..maybe it will direct correctly through Pinterest….who knows….https://pin.it/8HxepsI

“The last train wasn’t coming.”-The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett.
Ahhhh theres DGs puppy. Very cute!
German short hair poiner?
Super cute puppy DG.
FLT
“Come on, Jackson, you know it’s only for a few days.” The Arrangement by Felice Stevens
I got this one on loan so I wanted to go ahead a read it before heading into rom-com glory with BtB. Worked out perfectly because I can look forward to a happy reading weekend.
Yes, Scout is a German Shorthair Pointer who is a bird/squirrel/opossum/hunter/ lap dog! He is too smart for his own good. Thanks ladies!
FLT….
“The girls move around in their rooms like caged animals.” Wicked Mafia Prince by Annika Martin
DG- awww he’s adorable!!
FLT:
“I’m Thatcher Kelly.” Banking the Billionaire by Max Monroe.
Not sure if will finish this today as I’m taking my kids into Philly to experience the Madness of the DNC.
Beautiful dog DG! And now I’m stalker following you on Pinterest! Lol!
FLT: As the sun started to descend below the optical edge of the ocean and the Key West sky turned pink and orange with the last rays of day, I snapped a few final photos before pulling my camera away from my face. (Banking the Billionaire, by Max Monroe) Let me just say, Cassie is one crazy chick and Thatch has definitely met his match!
Cheryl, the novella was a completely “different” love story! *wink wink*
Cheryl – you are one brave soul…that is a special kinda madness going on there from what the reports show. Be careful and vigilant!
Cheryl??!! Really? That sounds awesome.
Have you all seen the dad jokes?
Same book, different first lines? Edition 1 and edition 2? lol
Chapter 1 vs prologue, maybe?
No worries Jean…I stalker follow a few folks also! Pinterest is my other go-to aside from reading…love the great ideas and I am a sucker for a great photo! Thanks for the compliment on my “third child” – he is definitely not just a pet!
Started Banking A Billionaire this morning and so far…LOVING it!
Cheryl’s first line is Intro and mine is first chapter.
Yes Cheryl, you are absolutely crazy coming into Philly!
FLT: “If you think I’m as old as the stars, you’d be wrong.” Carnal (Exiled, Book 1) by Victoria Dannan.
If you read her series, this is Kellareal talking. I love that wicked angel.
I can’t wait to hear about the Billionaire book. I am waiting until I hear back from you all. That is on my list of “do not like anymore”…. billionaires…. in general…
Anyone read Bourbon Thief? I downloaded sample and it was soooo good. I need to put that on my TBR list.
MichelleS, these billionaires are nothing like the typical billionaires we read about! Especially Kline in book 1!
ditto what Jean said
I think many of us are ‘over’ the billionaire trope
I actually wish it wasn’t part of the title on these books.
I know Fabi and the cover of the first was definitely not my favorite. They look kinda cheesy from the outside but the content is hysterical!
Yes, exactly.
Wow! I missed a lot.
*huggles Ela* I hope your recovery is quick. It sucks being incapacitated in any way.
DG such a cute puppy! Those eyes.
FLT:
‘I could hear the intruder breaking into my house.’
Mark of the Demon by Diana Rowland
It’s alright but slow. I still have hope though, since the story plot itself is so compelling.
On TtB, it really is not as it looks. If it weren’t for the excerpt on this site, I wouldn’t have touched with with a ten foot pole. The cover and the phrase bad boy would have had me running away big time. Instead I adored it.
Finished Broken Prince… Another cliffy… Dammit. At least the end is in sight.
I said there was! 😀 Though I’m not as anticipatory (is that really a word?) as I was the first time due to how the angsties were soothed to fast. It didn’t get resolved, but the true potential angsty wasn’t there.
Bev, have you ever read The Madness of Lord Ian McKenzie? Ian reminds me of Sherlock. 🙂
Yes I knew it going in Tessa, I have no excuses LOL!
Doing my reread of The Bourbon Kings, so much I didn’t remember.
BTB!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! Max Monroe has done it AGAIN!!!!! I am only 17% in and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Again, it is HILIARIOUS…but a different type of funny than TTB…which is so hard to do in my opinion. And Cassie…just want to bow to her! She is the bomb! (Aside from the frequent f bomb)…..READ this book series today!!!!
I want Max Monroe as best friends….it would a total riot all the time!
Fabi, I have. I read it a few years ago, a great read.
FLT
‘I don’t care what anyone says, every girl needs to have a good long cry once in a while.’
Seven Years by Dannika Dark.
I’m melting beneath a pile of dnfs and frankly, in a bit of a book slump. So, I’m cuddling Manny and back to re-reading some old faithfuls. And really enjoying this series again second time around 🙂 Nearly up to bk 2, Six Months.
BTW my goodreads email tells me there is a new Dannika Dark coming out in Aug – ‘Risk’ – kind of a spin-off from the mageri series apparently. Sweeeet.
Too quiet.
Question. If we were a real world book club meeting this month what should we eat & where should we meet?
P.s. Some one should br Sawbones with me this weekend.
If we were a real book club this month, than we should read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. For food, we should have iced butterbeer at the least. Meet at your house. (Or England. I’m always okay with answering England.)
How is Sawbones like Outlander? They both have medical knowledge? Am I looking at the right one?
Bev ….we would read Landline….somewhere with lots and lots of comfy sofas…for food…maybe a variety of desserts (strawberry shortcake, cupcakes, amaretto tiramisu, kahlua mess, etc) along with martinis and wine…
Yes, and I’m not sure why. I wouldn’t think it’d have much in common at all.
Yes to England. I’m nervous about the new HP. It’s a play and saw it has two authors.
DG, Landline such a great read. Love Rainbow Rowell.
We could just make it ice cream butterbeer. Would that persuade you? That stuff was so good.
Well… crap. Now I want butterbeer ice cream. Gah!
Bev if we were a real life book club I would love to host everyone at my house and serve Bird In Hand sparkling pinot noir (they serve this with strawberries and cream at Wimbledon and its delicious).
We could read Renee Carlino’s new one Swear on This Life (which I cannot wait to read!!).
And then we can watch Sherlock and drink cocktails!!
Ooh RC! I’m comng Lisa!!
Tessa, your making me want ice cream now.
Lisa……Australia?
Hugs Grey and I’m a total hugger!
Yeah, Maryse, sucky but had to be done. The right hip recovery was crucial but so worth it. I’m hoping for the same with the left.
Just imagine walking painful and difficult and then voila (after several months) you can even do jumping jacks!
Yes Bev…Australia
Not sure if this will work but this is where I live ( although its grey clouds and rain today)……..
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=glenelg&client=ms-android-telstra-au&prmd=minv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi1tpC845fOAhWEF5QKHRY9CcIQ_AUICCgC&biw=360&bih=559#imgrc=Mqo27qJ7IK2HkM%3A
Oh, yes. Let’s go to Lisa’s. 🙂
Cheryl, I hope you had fun. It was fun watching.
Some ladies in my town are attempting to form a book club, I’m wondering I’d they really want my help haha. Has anyone been involved in one before and could give me some pointers?
*if not I’d autocorrect strikes again.
Grey I’ve been a member of several but only a couple were really good. The main difference in those was a strong leader who was always prepared and kept the discussions on track. The others always devolved into separate personal conversations.
I started the novella, Tapping Her, last night. I’m glad one of you mentioned it gets better later. The beginning isn’t bad but it’s over the top crass and unbelievable. The good news is that I’m set up to read Banking the Billionaire over the weekend and that one has five star reviews flying out from all sides.
Yes Grey. Our RL bookclub has about 10 members and we’ve been together for about 12 years. We meet every6-8 weeks and each member takes a turn to host at their home. When you host you do the wine, food and select the next book.
If a book weve read is made into a movie we have a rule we all go together.
We rate books out of 5 and then we cast them (what actors woukd best play the MCs).
We do a Xmas party each year and one weekend retreat away.
I love those girls….we’ve been through three divorces, a surprise pregnancy and the death of one of the husbands together.
We’ve got to know each other pretty well over the years.
Holy crap Lisa. ImI’m officially nominating your book club for Golden Globe award. That’s awesome!
Lisa, that does sound like a great group! Wish you lived closer to me!
Fabi, hang in there with Tapping Her…..I swear it’s just a totally “different” love story! (Don’t want to give away any spoilers!)
Now, as for BtB, I don’t think there is any other couple in our book world like Thatch and Cassie. Their antics, banter, sarcasm, foul language, sexual innuendo, is so crazy! But it makes me love them!
“Road trip” to Lisa’s????
I’m in
haaaa, Lisa is going to open her door to a bunch of uninvited crazies yelling hello
I’m definitely in! Her “place”looks beautiful!
Fabi! We’re NOT crazy! We are emotionally overcompensated 🙂
“emotionally overcompensated” <— I'm totally stealing that one
Fellow BtB BRs. I’m halfway through the novella and NOT dealing well with the over the top drama queens. 🙁
Fabi, I totally get that. I’m at exactly 50%. I need to see where all this craziness is going though. They are both very unique characters to say the least…there are some points where I am laughing out loud and then some where I’m like “really?”
Fabi, did you end up liking the novella?
And it’s so hard to top Tapping the Billionaire with Kline being almost perfecto!
I’m on the novella. That’s the one I’m having a hard time with. BtB I have high hopes for because of all the rave reviews. But the novella is annoying me.
Stick with it….it’s short and I actually liked it more a couple days after finishing because of the other love relationship that it produced!
I’m struggling a little with BtB……unfortunately……lots of sex and antics. But at this point, I want some substance! I will not DNF though…..never!
oh no, you’re like the ONLY person I’ve heard say BtB wasn’t great from the get-go
phooey *stomps foot and pouts*
I actually liked the beginning but kinda stuck in the middle……that usually happens though right?
That usually happens A LOT
I really like Thatch. It’s just the girls I’m having a problem with. Mostly Ben. I liked her so much better in TtB. I’m looking forward to getting into BtB.
These boys don’t look or act like Billionaires. They’re so understated. I really like that.
Fabi, that’s exactly what I struggled with while reading the novella. It did get better because I think the crude humor got toned down. BtB is good, but I’ve been able to put it down and have even skimmed some sections. Should finish tonight. It’s been entertaining and the MC’s are one of a kind, but definitely not going to be a 5* read.
It happens a lot. Jan was just having problems like that, wanting to Dnf right before the end.
The books that end up on as my yearly favorites are usually the ones I want to read straight through.
Can’t really say if I compared them if they’d all be five stars, you know?
I love that about these boys Fabi!
Ummm ben?
I loved BtB but I did struggle with Cassies language…it was over the top. Im not against dropping the f*bomb BUT every second word!
I dont know about substance though….you might be disappointed. Its pretty much a comedic romp.
I loved Thatch way more than Kline *ducks peanuts*.
PS I would LOVE to host you all at book club. I think you ladies would get along really well with our group.
And Fabi we do have times when side conversation and personal stuff starts to take over at book club. But we have a couple of strong personalities that keep the group norm of everyone taking a turn to talk about the book going.
lol I meant Benny. He called her Ben once.
Comedic romp is a perfect description of this book Lisa!
