Its READY!! Today’s latest book releases and reader recommendations and tried and true bargain-finds are up! And I have a few that are definitely catching my eye. First I gotta finish my current book, and then maybe… OMG there are SO many. I’ll highlight a few below, but check out my “ALERTS!” ‘case I’m telling you, there are a TON that have awesome blurbs that I didn’t even know about until today and I have no idea which one to pick. Like…
Between Octobers (she’s kidnapped, wakes up chained up and book #2’s blurb (September Rain) that just came out made me extra curious about this one), Four Seconds to Lose (well heck! I love this author, and the blurb for this older one sounds just right for me! She’s a stripper in hiding!), The Friend Zone (well actually I’d start with “The Hook Up (Game On Book 1)“, and I hear these have a “The Deal” feel to ’em YAY ME!!), PUCKED (’cause it’s about a hot famous hockey player and it’s making everyone laugh), FURY (he used to be good, but now he’s bad and hell bent on revenge), A Shattered Moment (the EMT that helped her now goes to her college), Under the Spotlight (she works at a music studio, and he’s from a famous band), Deep Down (shamed, pregnant and alone…), and Across the Distance (her best guy friend becomes a famous rock star, and things change…). There are just so many more below…
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

Coffee & an hour before work. Let’s get to know Ivy and Grayson.
I had to look up what a pink Fiat 500 looks like. It’s actually pretty adorable. Though probably wouldn’t have a pink car. Now being able to picture it this just made me laugh. Their texts:
IvyMac: Ok. Fine. I was an ass. Of course you read. Read this: One scratch on that car and you bought it.
Gray G: It’s a tempting offer. I mean, who wouldn’t want this car? I’m assuming you take gumdrops as currency.
Your bolded/shouty caps descriptions make me giggle. lol Pucked was actually pretty good. A lot of humor. I was silent laughing in bed with my phone on my face so i didn’t wake up the Hubs last night.
I like to “alert”. A lot. I’m like a hunting dog. LOL!!
Is’t ‘Conviction’ by Lesley Jones standalone ?? Is there a book 1 before this ??
I am confused Marsyse please do clarify.
Whoops Shell! Yeah… I was confused in my book titles from that same author. 😉 Thanks to Julie for clarifying!! 😀 I think I blew a brain fuse due to Carnage by her… LOL! 😛
Hi Shell!
Yep, the first book is Carnage… and that title is quite telling. LOL!
Here’s my review: https://www.maryse.net/books/book-review-carnage-by-lesley-jones.html
Some of those look interesting, especially Across the Distance, but I have to catch up. I haven’t read the Hook Up yet, and apparently I bought it. Plus, Bev’s recommendation and a YA paranormal called Broken by Dean Murray that’s for free today.
Also, major happy! Figured out the book that was driving me insane. Owned by M. Never. Soooo good, so I got number two, Claimed. *jumps around happily*
Maryse… whatcha reading?
I’m finishing up “My Time in the Affair” tonight and will be reviewing right after. 😀
Darn Tessa!!!!!
I’m happy for you, but I was gonna make that a reader question to post. LOL!!!!
So how’d you find it?
I literally went to Goodreads and went through every book they recommended based on Debt Inheritance. I knew it was around the same time, and thought, maybe that’s where I found it originally? Thank goodness! The blurb didn’t help too much except for the very last two or three sentences. I honestly forgot at the very beginning he is a client at the place she works and she had a huge crush on him.
Yeah! So glad you are reading The Affair book. Love or hate, it still makes me happy.
I’m about to go crazy pre-ordering. Maryse, End of Days by Susan Ee comes out on May 12th. It’s the final installment in a PNR trilogy. I think some other ladies here also follow it, besides me.
Four pre-orders for me. Eeek. Is that a good thing? This year is an awesome book year.
I’ve always wanted to read Comfort Food. Is it similar to Captive in the Dark? Because I read that book and quite liked it.
I need to read The Hookup too before reading The Friend Zone.
Speaking of Dark Romance or Dark reads any recs or favorites? I’ve read Captive in the Dark and the Consequences series. I really liked both!
*snickers and points to her insanity* Owned by M. Never. Not as intense as those two, but it was good enough to make me go nuts. I heard Comfort Food is along the same lines as Captive in the Dark as far as eep factor, but I’m still wondering if I’m going to buy it or chicken out. 😛 Facade was alright, but predictable. Debt Inheritance, which everyone here knows I go crazy over just because it’s just pure insanity. Tears for Tess (which got me towards Debt Inheritance). Understimated by Jettie Woodruff. *grins* Ironically, I’m wimpier than most, and I still came up with this.
Tessa thank you! I have Debt Inheritance but I am waiting for the last book to release before starting with the series.
Owned looks interesting! I’ll look into it 😀
Maryse I love your “hunting dog” quality!!!! I find that I am less likely to hyperventilate if I just zone in on your caps and alerts because there are just too many tempting choices!!! My tbr list definitely reflects it!!!
LOL!! It’s how I make “mini lists” every week. 😉 Agreed… at close to 100 new releases on Tuesdays, it does make one hyperventilate. LOL!
They are long. I always wonder if there is some jewel tucked away in there somewhere that I’m missing.
Almost home and book time. Cupcake & Special Sauce!
Tessa, Yay! Glad you found it. Always so frustrating.
Wow, this list…this LIST. Happy release day to us!!! 😀
As much as I want to start a few of those up there (Antagonize Me and Across the Distance look like good ol’ angsty fun, and Tessa Ever After looks like it might be promising!), I’m finally going to start Bad Romeo!
Did anyone read Better after Good (S. Walden)? I really liked Good but Better was just… 😕 <——- yeah, that face sums it up for me.
Yeah… and Amy. Better was not “better” for me either. Good was good though. 😉
I say Anne needs to read The Tied Man!!! *snicker*
Thanks Bev! Needless to say, I bought it and put it in my extreme greatness collection. *grins*
Amy, I haven’t read Tied Man! As I said, I’m a wimp with some of these. I barely touched Life of Anne before running away from it. All of you who can read it, hats off to you. Me… Uh uh!
The Tessa one caught my eye because of the name, but honestly, it looks sappy. Too much of a “hero” alert for me.
Several on the list making me want to one-click. Just finishing Pucked. Even though I realized after starting it, that I had read it as a fanfiction I kept reading it and I’m glad I did. It wasn’t exactly like the ff version and it was hilarious and I literally laughed and snorted out loud many times!!
Think I’ll start reading The Friend Zone next since I recently read the Hook Up and the characters are fresh in my mind. 🙂
Amy just looked The Tied Man and oh wow! Am I brave enough? Don’t know! Maybe?
So I was going to start Checked but decided to finally start with The Quantum Trilogy 🙂 Kinda excited about it!
Holy smokes! $9.99 for the Tessa book. O.o I reserve that price for known authors. I’m going to be chicken and wait for others to review it first.
Cheryl if you start The Friend Zone 80s night. Oh, my. That made me giggle and ♥.
“I love dancing.” Lol.
Logan shout out!
That’s so cute they do that with each others characters.
So I used my pc to write a comment and its waiting to be approved but I was going to start with the Quantum Trilogy (finally lol) but realized Comfort Food is not very long so I’ll read that one real quick first. Wish me luck guys!!
Bev its sounds like you are having fun with The Friend Zone! Do I need to read The Hook Up first?
Can someone please refresh my memory of Never, Never?
Thank you Maryse for clearing this doubt. Yes I have read ‘Carnage’ and boy it messed with my brain something fierce.
Fabi, quick non spoiler refresh. The boy and girl are suddenly there, no memory of what happened. They both act like all is fine, and they both only remember the exact same second. They were dating, but there is all this intrigue going on behind it. They confess to each other they forgot everything, and poof, the mysteries and figuring things out begin. There, the really bad synopsis without spoilers. *grins* Did it help?
Ok has anyone read Pucked yet?? Absolutely hilarious!! Could not stop laughing, especially when she started to describe his “goods”.
Fabi – yup – just what Tessa said. A girl “wakes up” in school and doesn’t remember a thing, then has to be cool with her “boyfriend” whom she can’t remember a thing about. And it unravels from there. And the “forget me not” flowers….. remember???
Tessa – you are NOT a wimp. You read Indebted series!!!! It’s no worse than that (The Tied Man).
Fabi’s question made me think, and I realized something. (No throwing Kindles at me please…). While I absolutely LOVE C. Hoover’s books and writing while I am “in it”, I often forget details or complete plot lines when it is over. I guess it’s because she writes in such a subtle way? I don’t know… I just know I always have to have someone remind me what it was about too. But ask me about Outlander or Tairen Soul or Knights of Black Swan or… well, you get the point… and I will remember EVERYTHING. So I guess I need adventure and fantasy!
I wanted to ask Michelle – what happened with the coal-miner book? Do you recommend it? Did it turn out to be a 5 star read for you??
MichelleS, Covered in Coal I loved and gave it 4* and the second book in the series lost a little momentum for me and I gave it 3.5* but I still really liked it. The next book which I will read eventually is about the guy she didn’t pick. I think I said before, if you wanted to try the first one, I would loan it to ya 🙂
I’m reading the second book in the Jessica McClain series, Hot Blooded, already after tearing through the first one. I dunno, these are weird books for me since the writing is just ok and I’m not completely sold on all the characters but the actual story is fascinating to me. Can’t stop reading…seriously 75% through second book already!
Michelle, lol.
There is a book, His End Game, that got a strong positive review. The review was really well done and I was like, “yes!” One click.
I started it as soon as I could. The more I read the more I disliked it. Or maybe I was disappointed. But I kept reading it. Didn’t stop until done. Then I was upset because I really didn’t like it. I thought it was underdeveloped and the characters had no spark for me, etc. I was so upset I almost wrote a review, because at that point it was all five stars. I’m not sure why that one got to me.
Haha Bev the more you read, the more you disliked it?! I checked that book out and it did get a lot of 5 star reviews though huh? Well I definitely like these books, I just can’t figure out why I’m devouring them when I don’t love them.
Finally looked at the list above better. Grabbed Deep Down and thinking about getting A Shattered Moment. Anyone start that one?
Thanks Tessa and MichelleS. I now remember that part Michelle mentions but still drawing a blank on the rest of it. I was going to pre-order the second part but I’m hesitating now. I ordered Kenyon’s League sequel and the next Maddox Brothers but I may hold off on Never Never, especially since there’s a part 3. I wish stand alone books were a category. Lol it would be one of my default filters for purchasing.
Fabi, I think I remember you liking it but thought it had no ending. I think I said how the ending made the book for me and your reply was something like, “Ending, what ending?” Lol.
Stopping in coffee houses before work may not be the best idea. Hard to get into work mode. Though the guy butchering Dylan at table behind me at the top of his lungs makes me not regret it to much, lol.
Yeah Bev, I think it was a five star for me, which is why I was going to pre-order the next part. Then I realized I remembered nothing about it. Maybe I’ll wait until the whole series is out and re-read the first one.
I wish I’d reread Try and Tate before Trust. I remember everything about them, but I would have enjoyed the stories again before starting Trust since it picks up immediately where Take left off. It’s been a while. I’d forgotten a third book was coming out. Like MichelleS, I tend to remember the fantasy, action ones more. Although, unlike her, I have a horrible memory.
Speaking of TTM, wasn’t there supposed to be a sequel?
I also have to get back to LoA. That one is weird for me. When I’m reading it, I can’t seem to stop. When I’m not reading it, I cringe at the thought of getting back into that story.
There *is* a sequel to TTM. I remember reading the first chapter (on the author’s website, maybe?), and for me it was almost like an epilogue to TTM so it was perfect…I doubt I’ll be reading the whole book simply because I don’t think I can handle any more bad stuff happening to that poor guy, ya know?
Anne- I would recommend reading The Hook Up prior to reading The Friend Zone.
Anne…check out Maryse’s review of The Tied Man! Don’t worry, we’re here for ya if you do end up reading it… 😉
Guys, if you are looking for a light, funny read…. Pucked! I loved it! So funny and instead of a stuffed manatee, she has a stuffed beaver!!!! Lol!
I need to read The Hook Up… everyone seems to love it! Just not sure what to read next!
I haven’t read Comfort Food yet either….. Highly recommend Tears For Tess in that genre…. haven’t completed the series, but loved the 1st book!
Oh and the more I think about the Affair book, the more I love it!! Recommending it to all my friends! Curious to see Maryse’s review of this one.
I haven’t read The Tied Man either but I dunno about it and I like dark reads but yeah I dunno…
I liked Tears of Tess too but I haven’t read the last book just the first two but would rec them.
I loved the Affair book, no extra thinking required 😉 It was an easy 5 star for me but I do love her writing style after the Kane Trilogy. I want more from her asap!
I read the Tied Man and now don’t think it’s so bad after finishing the entire Life of Anna series (which I have to say, I loved the 5th and final book)!
Anyway, Michelle, thanks for the reminder about the Kane Trilogy! I haven’t read it and have the whole series! Affair was the first book I read by her! I think I’ll read the Kane Trilogy next!
It was a great series Jean and I read the trilogy back to back – gave them all 4*. I know Tessa loved them too. I think Amy just read them…maybe, but I can’t remember what feedback she gave. I liked Affair even more but I think her books get better and better which is why I’m anxiously awaiting the next one!
Anybody read these books? Curious and can’t decide if I want to get them or not.

Well my link isn’t working but they are the Rain Shadow books by Tess Oliver.
This is a bit off topic (but what’s new for me right?). I just have to share. I know I’ve mentioned that I collect hardback and leather bound books. Well, something about the story and the cover and the paper an font totally grabbed me with A Second Chance at Paris. I asked Cole McCade if he’d sign my copy. After some time back and forth in the mail, I am now the proud owner of my first contemporary romance sitting on my bookshelf collection. I’m not much of a squeeer
…but…squeeeeee
OMG Fabi!!!! That is awesome!! I am squueeeiinngg with you! Loved that book due to your recommendation! That’s a nice treasure to have…. I’m jealous!
Awwww thanks Jean. Isn’t amazing how these authors can turn us into squeeing little girls? I’m laughing at myself but still tickled pink.
That had to make your day! It’s the little things….
Michelle, haven’t had anything about Rain Shadow, but just checked them out and they look interesting…..keep me updated if you hear anything or decide to read them!
Oh and just realized, I have the first Rain Shadow book! Doh!
I had one of the worst nights of my life. I had such a horrible, sharp pain in my upper abdomen and back that I almost passed out. I had never experienced such an intense pain. I went to the ER and I have gallstones, which totally sucks lol. So I need to have my gallbladder removed sometime this year.
So I started reading Comfort Food last night before the pain started and I am not finding it overly dark which is a good thing. I’ll keep you guys posted 🙂
Oh Anne, so sorry to hear that. I’ve known people with stones and have seen what horrendous pain they cause. Hugs for you.
Thanks Fabi! I can’t even describe the pain it was that intense! Thankfully its not infected or inflamed and the stones are pretty small. But still not excited about the surgery lol
Conviction is a stand-alone (although it mentions the characters from Carnage. Carnage #1 is is called The Story of Us and Carnage #2 is called The Story of Me. I loved the series – don’t stop at Carnage #1! Carnage #2 is a 5 star although you won’t believe me at the end of the first book. You need to read it Maryse!
I read Pucked as Twilight fanfiction and it is great – funny and sexy!
I’m thinking about starting The Hook-up or Virtuous next.
“I also have to get back to LoA. That one is weird for me. When I’m reading it, I can’t seem to stop. When I’m not reading it, I cringe at the thought of getting back into that story” … Oh Fabi, that is so totally me. I am the same with the Indebted series. I love it while I am reading it, but need breaks in between. I guess I am just a PNR girl at heart. That always cleans my palate. Speaking of… OMG…. Rejar is something else. “and just what am I supposed to do now?”… “Sit – on – it”… “I don’t think so”. SNORT!
Michelle – I checked out that boxed set (the MC club one) – and book one is free, but only 123 pages. I am always hesitant to pick up novellas. Not my thing. I like a better developed story. I haven’t found a novella yet that I connected with. And there’s a warning that it contains alcohol use!!! LOL. Well, duh… it’s a motorcycle club…. LOL.
Anne, have them too. Have had attacks for couple years now. Yes extreme pain. Haven’t had mline out yet. Surgery scares me. I’m a big baby.
Anne, I’m sorry to hear you have to deal with gallstones. I had my gallbladder removed in college and the surgery was a blessing for me since as you said the pain was horrible and it kept me up at night. Recovery after the surgery is quick and it’s laparoscopic so it’s only very small incisions. I wish you luck but I would get it over with sooner rather than later. I had to wait until a school break and mine became inflammed and was even more painful by then.
MichelleS, I got the free one but yeah I feel the same with novellas usually. They got such good reviews though especially after the first book so I might make time to read the first one before buying. Hopefully I do not miss the sale though!
MichelleS…awww you’re reading Rejar. 🙂 Those are Tessa’s awesome recs (from college, no less!).
I just finished a beta read which is a 5* for me. It’s part 1 of an M/M story and I want to gush about it but I’m waiting to hear back to make sure that it’s available for download on the author’s website.
Bev, it was not bad at all as I said and do it when you’re younger and get it over with. I walked out of the hospital the next day and took it easy for a few weeks but it didn’t slow me down much. I was blissfully happy and sleeping well with the little bugger out too. I waited too long and it just got more painful.
Anne, sorry to hear about your gallstones, can’t imagine how painful that is.
Fabi, I can so relate. I have all the Outlander series books so far and have had them autographed by Diana Gabaldon. I even met her and Ronald D. Moore (the producer of the Outlander tv show). *jumping up and down and squeeing with Fabi*
Finally sitting down to read. Back to The Friend Zone…
oh wow Cheryl, that’s more than squee worthy, that’s swoon worthy
Bev the surgery also scares me but I am more scared of future complications lol. I don’t want to feel that kind of pain ever again!
Michelle thank you! Your post put me a little at ease about the surgery. I wasn’t really expecting to have gallstones since in November I had an ultrasound and my gallbladder was fine. I don’t eat fatty foods or anything. Don’t know if its genetic cause my mom had them too. I plan on having the surgery in a month max. I don’t want to deal with future complications. Also do you have to eat differently now that you don’t have your gallbladder?
*bug squeeeezy hug* to Anne.
Thank you Cheryl! I’ve been feeling fine today which is good 🙂
Oh wow!! That is so amazing! I love Ronald D.Moore and this he’s doing a great job on the series!
Oops it’s think not this lol
Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley is getting some good early buzz. This is good, lol.
Cheryl, quick question. My memory is horrible and been a while since I’ve read it, but I thought Gray was more of an ass in the first book?
So just finished Comfort Food and liked it. I thought is was going to be a lot darker but I am kinda grateful that it wasn’t. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t dark because it was and I did cringe at some parts. I think I’ll give it a 3.5/5.
Tomorrow I’ll finally start with Virtous 🙂
Trust has me crying my eyes out. No sleep for me tonight.
Laugh out loud loving The Hook up. Cant wait to start Friend Zone next. Fresh fun and sexy.
Pucked was snort laugh funny….just what the Dr ordered after my recent book blues funk.
Think I have an ice hockey/football player crush going on……too bad we don’t have either in Australia
Anne, I know people who had to cut back on fatty foods and those who don’t afterwards. I do not eat a lot of them either so I didn’t have to change much and my stones were not diet related to begin with. I know right after for a couple months I was very careful until my body adjusted though. I think it’s smart to just get it done because yes the pain can be debilitating and for me only worsened – good luck!
Anne, I had the surgery last year (had a huge stone that was going in and out of bile duct). It lasted about 45 minutes, and I left the hospital a few hours later. It was a breeze. I tiny scar. I try to avoid super fatty and greasy foods but other than that everything is pretty normal. It’s definitely an improvement over the pain and discomfort of having a stone! Several family members have had surgery, so, yes, I am thinking it is at least in part hereditary.
I can’t believe I’m reading the same book I started on Tuesday, lol. Especially because I’m enjoying it. Anyway.
“Mr. Grayson, my father tells me he lent you my car.” -The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan
Bev, I love “1st line Thursday”!!
Since I just finished Pucked…. here’s the 1st line: “It’s 6:51 on Thursday morning and I’m thirty seconds away from an amazing orgasm.”
omg Jean! What a first line.
Seriously, Jean. You are knocking them out of the park lately.
Yep, and it just gets better and better from there!!!!! Loved this book!! I want you all to read it!!!!!
I have it lined up.
Good girl Fabi….lol!
“Hassie fetched another stone and added it to the pile.”
Without Words by Ellen O’Connell
Seriously, what’s with me and dull first sentences on Thursdays? However, the reason for the stones is interesting. *grins*
Tessa, I totally just did a tiny happy fist pump. In public. Whoot!
Oh wow, I missed out on some chatter yesterday! Anne, hope you feel better soon. And Fabi…yay you!!!! 😀
First line time (I love that you started this, Bev)…
“I rush down the crowded sidewalk, and a nervous sweat has broken out in all my most unglamorous places.” ~ Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven
Guys, I am about halfway through Bad Romeo and simply LOVING it! It’s going back and forth between the past and present (which I don’t mind when it’s done well like this is), and the anticipatory buildup to what happened before has me all anxious and bouncing my leg. And even the flashbacks for me have that slow burn We’ll see what happens with the last half, but if it continues this way then I *might* just have found me a 5 star! 😀
I had to share this line…this is such a ME book:
“Just thinking about our almost-kiss has my girl parts all excited. I don’t have the heart to tell them we’re going to die without ever experiencing an orgasm. It would depress them too much, and I really can’t afford to have a sad vagina.” LOL!!!!
*sniffle* I can’t read this without crying. Tate with his dad. *deep breath*
*hands stuffed manatee to Fabi*
Awww, thank you Amy.
I missed a lot too. I hope you all get that surgery and get better.
Hehehe. Bev, I’m only at the beginning so far. I squirreled yesterday and read a YA paranormal, Broken by Dean Murray. Good, but slow as a setup for a series.
Bev, have you read Tempest by Catherine Hart? It’s an oldie, from my high school days, when I read western historicals. The blurb is pure uninformative, but it’s the best western romance I’ve ever read. It’s so old, it’s not even in publication any more. The beginning is pure devastation. A gang stops her and her husband, tie her husband to watch as they rape her, then kill him. The rest is a revenge story, but with sweet added as she extremely slowly heals and falls for the gunslinger whom she hired to kill the men. Major, heartfelt HEA.
Loving some of these first sentences. 🙂 *runs back to her book*
Hey Maryse, did you finish the Affair book? What’d ya think? I thought the stuff between Mischa and Tal was fun (and whoa, those sexy times!!!) but I felt like her marriage to Mike was just kinda, I dunno, “there” for the sake of being there but with no real foundation to make her affair seem all that destructive, ya know? I would have liked to feel something for her husband as well. *shrug*
Amy and Jean… which is probably why I’m not *hooked* on the affair just yet. It’s not killing me… so I put it down. But then again… I’m in prep and panic mode for my upcoming trip. LOL! No worries, I’ll still TOTALLY be around… I’ll take pictures!! 😀
Love that first line Amy! And I’ve been wanting to read Bad Romeo! Great point regarding Affair…. you’re right it wasn’t as destructive because of well ya know…… No spoilers here! I’m curious to see Maryse’s review!
Anne, hope you are feeling better!
Fabi, I’ve never read a dedicated M/M book yet, not to say there hasn’t been some of that in other books, but I hear this is the series to read when I do!
Yay, for me as I have Bad Romeo, Try & Take all waiting. Nice to know I have unread gems.
Fabi, just read a review for the last one and the LOVED it.
Tessa, I’ll try and look that one up. It sounds good. I do enjoy a western. Keep me posted, fingers crossed.
One gunslinger one I LOVED was The Outsider by Penelope Williamson. He is a gunslinger loner( as they are) and she a widow single mom & Amish. He shows up wounded on her ranch.
Oh yeah Jean. This is an awesome love story. Bev, I’ll be giving it one too!
Fabi, give us the first line?
First line!
“Winter in New York City is dirty business.”
-Virtuous. M.S. Force
Thank you all for your get well wishes. I’ve been feeling pretty ok so yaay!
Finally starting with the Quantum Trilogy 😀
First Line Thursday (thank you, again, Bev – so fun)….
“He was a totally sexual creature.” – Rejar (Matrix of Destiny #2)
Jean – wowza – makes me want to read it!
Fabi – I’ve been reading the same book for days too. Life is busy right now.
Oooo One I had on my wishlist, Full Blooded by Amanda Carlson, went on sale for $1.99!
MichelleS… that says everything about Rejar. *grins*
Tessa – he’s a ten on the hotness meter – in my head, he’s the same “guy” as Deagus MacKeltar… am I right??? The long black hair and all the sexy grins. Fanning self….
Tell me about Full Blooded when you get around to reading it. Amazon says it is like Patricia Briggs, so I would definitely be interested in that, if it is even close.
It will probably be next or next after. I’ve been wanting to read it so much, but was scared to start another expensive series. Though, let’s face it. If I’m paying that much for a book, it’s proven itself well worth the price. *grins*
Oh, and about Rejar, definitely! He’s… *sighs* Yeah.
“Bad things always come in threes.” – Cold Burn of Magic by Jennifer Estep
I went back to Estep after reading the first three books in the Jessica McClain series. Tessa and MichelleS, I like the series. There’s something addicting about them and I was talking about it above, that I have no idea why I burned through them in only a few days but they are average in terms of writing and character development. Something about the story though has me hooked. The first one reminded me more of Bitten and not really Briggs besides being about shifters and having others supes too.
Actually, I have a pretty boring first line. Unless you know who Logan is, then just his name is squee worthy.
“THE BRIGHT CITY lights of downtown Chicago reflected in Logan’s rearview mirror as he checked the lane behind him and merged to the left.”
Trust by Ella Frank
Totally random musing here but I read the Until the End of the World series back in January and February, and I am still sad about stuff that happened in the second book even though the series ended well. STILL sad. WTH man?
Don’t mind me, y’all…bubble gum vodka is making me all sappy and emotional right now. *giggle*
Best first line in a book ever (not a real romance but romance in it all the same)….
‘The first thing you find out when yer dog learns to talk is that dogs don’t got nothing much to say.’
Patrick Ness ‘The knife of never letting go’
Loved this series.
Wow, I had to catch up on comments, missed a lot!
Bev, I think Gray was a cocky player in book 1 who ended up forming a friendship with Anna when Drew needed their help. I’m at about 60% in The Friend Zone and the “shenanigans” are getting good!! I’m loving Gray and Ivy.
First line thursday…4:13 am. Text to Gray Grayson from unknown source.
Jean, I LOVED Pucked too! 😉 I seriously was laughing out loud every few minutes!! The things that came out of Violet’s mouth-hysterical and that epilogue…OMG I was dying..the cape…I’m losing it again…
The second book in the Captive series by Erica Stevens, Renegade, is FREE right now along with the first book already being free!! I loved, loved, loved the first book and each one after just seemed to get better…and after the *gasp* ending of the first one, I was so glad that the second one was already out. Ladies, check it out, check it out, check it out!!!! 😀
YAY Amy!!! I heard that one was AWESOME!
Cheryl, lol. I love that we did the same book but had different first lines.:-P
Yours is the real first line.
I still love his dance moves. Makes me laugh and touches my heart all at the same time.
Michelle, I thought there was something so romantic about Clay and Elena. I didn’t find the romance as much in Page’s books. Though I liked both the MCs.
*whispering*
Does anyone know what Maryse is reading?
LOL!!! bev… I’m still reading “The Affair”… halfway through. It’s good, but I’m not desperate for it. But then again… I’m actually super-slow this week ’cause I’m preparing to head out to the RT Convention next week… so I’m in scramble mode.
Tessa, Hart looks like one that I’ll have to wait and hope for her backlist to be made digital. Its a no for my library.
Darn! I was staring at Amazon, and it’s one of those on sale for a penny (with $3.99 s/h) and think I’m going to buy it. It’s been so many years since my last one fell apart from over re-reading. If for no other reason, I want it for the memories.
Michelle, I knew you were reading the three of a series, but for some reason, it didn’t even register that the book in my wishlist and what you were reading were the same. Again, thinking alike. *grins*
Amy, I liked the Captive series, but I’ve still got to read book three and four (I own them). I don’t know why I haven’t continued it.
Oh, I liked Broken by Dean Murray. YA, not too different. The only thing is, it took forever to get to the paranormal reveal. It was obvious from near the beginning, but there is never a reason for the MC to figure it out.
Bev, last I heard, she was reading The Affair book. With everyone either it’s great or it’s good, but not angsty enough, I’m curious about her reaction.
Jean and Cheryl: Super MC to the rescue! Lol! Seriously that epilogue was hilarious! The whole book is so funny!
Omg Anne and Cheryl, I’m thinking about the cape on MC and the panic from Alex….. sitting at my desk laughing!!! Great book!
Yeah, the Affair was not unputdownable for me either, but I still really liked it! Anxious for your review!
Good luck with the convention Maryse!!!
Just saw another post for Asking for It by Lilah Pace. One of you has GOT to read it with me in June. Amy I read TTM!! Jean, Fabi, The Michelles? You dark readers you. C’mon. Someone? Though heard not as dark as you would think but very good and interesting.
I clicked on this blog and that top pic just popped up. Too much cute!! Made me smile so have to share.
https://www.abeautifulmess.com/2015/05/5-tips-to-get-better-pet-photos.html
Hey guys! Happy Saturday! So I was going to start Virtuous but went for Ruined by LP Lovell instead 😛 I am enjoying it so far!
Just finished Trust by Ella Frank also me series! Started Pucked it started off with me laughing is always a great sign. Can’t wait to go in deeper!
Twilla how did you like Trust? It was a five star for me but that’s because I am in love with L&T from the first two books.
Fabi I Love, Love Love the first 2. Hope she makes more!!! Did you read
J. L. Pyke Dont’t, Antidote and Beakdow. They’re a little dark but GREAT books.
Fabi, sorry I was a little excited. Jack L. Pyke Dont, Antodote and Breakdown are the titles.
I’ll check those out. Thanks!
