Here are my Tarryn Fisher reviews (’cause y’all know I just LOVE her!!) ➔ https://www.maryse.net/tag/tarryn-fisher
I know many of us are preparing for the big day (and the other big day right after) 😉 so this week’s new release list is a smaller one, but there are a few that caught my eye for sure! AND AND!!!!
One of my latest SUPER-FAVORITES right up there, to the left. An Exaltation of Larks!!! My friends, I IMPLORE YOU!!!! DO NOT MISS IT!!
I JUST 5-STARRED IT!!!! This is a MUST READ, with that delicious slow burn, that touch of forbidden (super-steamy!!!) while remaining poignant and REAL. Here’s my review!!
Tracie: This is easily my favorite book this year. It’s absolutely OUTSTANDING!! Everyone needs to read this ASAP …I’m still not over it. Everything I’ve read since is just meh
Britton: Best book of the year hands down. Nothing nothing can compare
What else looks extra good, today? Out of Bounds (a new Lauren Blakely football star for us!), Brutal Game (the surprise sequel to a darker romance read that shocked me a few years back – and that I loved!), 1001 Dark Nights (a steamy anthology by some of our very favorite authors!!), Fifteen Words (sounds like it could be an epic, and tumultuous love story, taking place during Wartime Nazi Germany) <— NOW THAT IS A BLURB-JOLT!.
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
The Operator: The Peri Reed Chronicles, Book 2 by Kim Harrison
- Over the Edge by Meredith Wild
- Penmort Castle by Kristen Ashley <— RELEASING IN A FEW DAYS!!!
- Island of Glass: Guardians Trilogy, Book 3 by Nora Roberts <— RELEASING SOON!!!
- Blood Vow: Black Dagger Legacy, Book 2 by J.R. Ward <— RELEASING SOON!!!
BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
Willing Victim (Flynn and Laurel Book 1) by Cara McKenna <— One of the first DARK & RISQUE LOVE STORIES that I ever read (and I loved it)!!!!! Willing Victim (but only if you’re okay with the more “hardcore” fantasies). He’s a bad-ass construction worker by day, underground boxer by night, and umm… by later night? He has a few “girlfriends” that he er… helps after his fights, by providing for their… needs. *waggles eyebrows* It’s rough, that’s for sure, but HIM? And the gentle moments in between? I really connected to that. It’s super-bargain priced right now ’cause the surprise sequel was JUST released (below)!!! 😀 *happy wiggle* (here’s my review)
Skye: The re-release of Willing Victim is on sale…! I’m so psyched for Brutal Game <3
Anna: Ahhhh!!! It’s like getting a present I didn’t know to ask for. I’m going to re-read Willing Victim to amp up my anticipation (which is already pretty high)! Yipee!
Diane: i read Willing Victim last night and LOVED every minute
Mara: Just read Willing Victim by Cara McKenna and I kinda hated Flynn at first. He rejected the heroine at first *gasp* how rude. But her heroes always get me in the end. She writes the best blue-collar-real-tough guys. Wish she’d do some male POVs
Alabama Amy: I wasn’t thaaaaat disturbed. I actually enjoyed it. The characters grew on me and it was different. The only thing I didn’t like was the length. It was short and had a to-be-continued feel. Not a cliffhanger because it ended in a complete story but you don’t know if it’s “forever” yet. My reaction was more “oooh that’s kinda kinky” and less “man that’s some crazy $*#t”.
- TKO Series: Books 1-4 by Ana Layne <— FIGHTER SERIES BUNDLE and it’s super-bargain priced today!
Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal <— Suanne recommends it! “…a book I’m pretty evangelical about is “Kitchens of the Great Midwest.” If you’re a foodie, I think you’ll really love this quirky novel. But I recommend it to everyone.”
- The Jack & Jill Series by Jewel E Ann <— Kandace found us this one! “I saw today the Jack and Jill bundle by Ann Jewel is on sale too. I really enjoyed the series. It was different…”
- FRISK ME, OFFICER by Sylvia Fox <— SHE’S INTO HER DAD’S BEST FRIEND & HE’S A COP!!! *waggles eyebrows* And it’s a recent release on super-bargain right now. “When I head home from college for some peace and quiet while my parents are out of town, a string of robberies leaves me scared and all alone. There’s only one man I can call. And only one man who can protect me…” (recent release)
- Twenty-One (21) by Clarissa Wild <— SHE’S TAKEN AT THE AGE OF 21 TO REPAY A FAMILY DEBT… “For 21 weeks she carried a burden no girl should ever have to carry. Now she loses her freedom to a man born to destroy her. 21 days His name: Angel DeLuca. His mission: To break her in 21 days before she sees through his lies. But she won’t give up without a fight. 21 minutes It takes only 21 minutes for their lives to be forever entwined.” (super-bargain priced today!!)
- The Bachelor Auction (The Bachelors of Arizona) by Rachel Van Dyken <— SUPER-BARGAIN!! Thank you Anna!
The Secret Life of Trystan Scott (The Complete Collection Vol 1-5) by H.M Ward <— SUPER-BARGAIN PRICED SERIES BUNDLE ALERT!!!! “For a limited time, you can get THE SECRET LIFT OF TRYSTAN SCOTT OMNIBUS edition and take home all 5 volumes and save.”
Jean: You must read the Secret Life of Trystan Scott 1 thru 5 first! Don’t be intimidated! They are like short novellas comprised into one book!
Tessa: The Trystan Scotts series can be read outside of the Ferro family’s series.

Everyone should drop what they are reading and start An Exaltation of Larks! Hands down, favorite of the year for me!
Price Drop Alert: The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken is $1.99
Hey, my southern friends on here, do any of you read Gun and Garden magazine? They have a book on sale.
And I’m getting emails again! Whoot!
Maryse, if still in the mood for long dark epic books you should do Last Hour of Gann.
Or Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda.
Have you seen Words I Couldn’t Say by Tessa Teevan?!! It wasn’t amazing and seriously the cover is the best I’ve seen in ages.
Simon sounds very dark and epic, bev. 😉 LOL!!!
Polly… I’m not sure. WAS it amazing? Or wasn’t?
I’m thinking you’re saying it WAS, but I want to make sure before I repost. 😀
Thank you, Anna!!! 😀
Omg it WAS amazing. How did I screw that so badly?! I’m going to blame it on the kids..lol
So yes AMAZING!
Happy early Thanksgiving everyone. Heading out of town tomorrow and probably won’t be posting comments until return home.
Loading up and charging the Kindle for the drive. Finishing Major Love tonight and then probably will read an ARC I have. Then maybe I’ll read An Exaltation of Larks. 🙂
Is anyone besides me having half the pages open like they do with a mobile app on a regular computer?? This page looks like it does when I bring it up on my Kindle, but I’m using my laptop.
Okaaay, now it’s the normal pink web page again!
Happy turkey day, Cheryl. Have a safe trip!
Simon is epicness personified.
Every time one of you mentions that Lark book I hear Sinatra singing Come Fly With Me, lol.
I hear Tony Orlando, Knock Three Times…
Yeah Nay, the page has randomly changed appearance for me today too (I’m looking at it on my laptop). The pink background has gone and everything including font is BIGGER! It’s easier to read in a way – more whitespace and bigger lettering, but also harder to navigate cos you can’t see as much on the page at once. Is this change going to be permanent?
Whoah. Now it’s pink again for me too! Guess I’ll just wait till things settle down again 🙂
Yeah, mine’s still going back and forth, Jan. It’s finally pink for me again now. I think Maryse switched servers or something?? Maybe that’s the cause???
Mine’s fine now too. I was having trouble this AM though.
How’s the page pulling up for everyone today? Anyone having weird issues?
It looks fine for me Maryse. Thank you.
YAY!!! Thank you Fabi!
Okay…
If anyone else sees anything, comment and let me know. I think all should be settled now.
An Exaltation of Larks it is! I still cannot finish the latest Anita Blake. Makes me so sad. I did finish Siren and it was quite the book. All I can say is that it was different. Still give it 5 stars because I couldn’t put it down, but it was D.A.R.K. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Come out, come out wherever you are! I’m procrastinating and I need distractions!
Grey!!!
YOU DO NOT NEED DISTRACTIONS!!!!!!
Write your awesome story! :D!!!!
But Maryse… I… I… I… *pout* I will write another chapter if someone comes out and plays for a little while I need a brain break, the muse isn’t playing nice right now LOL!
*waves frantically* Hiiiiii I’ve missed everyone! I have two whole days off and had to pop in to see how everyone is doing 😀
I’ve been busy busy but still reading always. Starting to ramp up with work slowing down a little. Finally read A Promise of Fire and LOVED it! Can’t wait for the next one!
Sharon, I read every Anita book and have no idea why I even bother at this point…last one was so many pages of nothing. At least it had Edward. What Siren book?
Ahhh my icon is not right *pouts* Do I have to change it to be cool like everyone else now?!
Michelle, we have missed you.
One day we were trying to decide who on here has is the most common in book taste. And Fabi, Tessa, and I were all like, “Michelle”, lol.
Michelle and Sharon… I was the BIGGEST Anita fan, and I ended up quitting a few years back. It just became TOOOOOO …. *ahem*
😉
Michelle, yes!! Change it. 🙂
Do you remember how?
Yay!!! Distractions!!! OK what is this Siren people are talking about, the only Siren I know is Tiffany Reisz’s and it is one of my favoritest books ever…which reminds me. I could waste time doing my top book list… LOL!
It’s a horror/thriller dark one Maryse. By Jaimie Roberts. I’ve had on my tbr but waiting for the right time.
Hi Michelle!
Sorry, that was meant for Grey above.
That’s ok, Fabi, I take it as an honor to be confused with Maryse :* hmm, I may have to check that one out… When I get done writing of course…
Michelle, SIren by Jaimie Roberts and Kellie Dennis.
Maryse, I like the “ahem” in the Anita books . . . I just can’t take two days to get thru one meaningless scene. And I really don’t have to be reminded a gagillion times the breadth of someone’s shoulders. LKH needs new editors or she needs to start listening to her readers. Rant over.
Bev…*pauses* a monkey? *making that face* haha I probably have the most in common because I read everything. I haven’t been as open minded this year though. Maybe my last few before 2017 need to be out of left field.
Fabi! I haven’t read Gemina yet. I’m getting the hardcover for my bday in 2 weeks. I need the whole experience ya know.
Maryse, I have no idea how to change it. I tried and failed 🙁 Tell me so I can cave to peer pressure…my icon will NOT be a gawking chimp though
Okay!! 😀
In case any of you missed the “how to change your avatar” instructions, here they are again:
————
how to control your Avatar (for example – mine is always the same and it’s actually my face) this is where and how I did it:
if you go to gravatar.com (which means globally recognized avatar), you can set one of your own (your pet, your face, something that pertains to you).
As long as you use the same email address that you used to comment on here, the same gravatar that you’ve chosen, will always show up (on maryse.net, AND other sites using the gravatar system)
—————-
😀 !!!
Whoa. Did I say I missed you? Lol.
That is the face I make on here. Quite often.
Every single time, in fact!!!! Baaaahahahahahahhahaha!!!! 😛 :D!!!!!
Ladies are feeling sassy on here tonight.
Lol.
Yay! All done writing for the day. 5k words down today. If I could have another day like that tomorrow I’d feel so much better about this whole NaNoWriMo thing, but alas, it’ll be Thanksgiving so I probably wont get much (if any) writing done. But Saturday, I’ll be back at it.
So, on that note. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Wishing you and your families the bestest holiday and yummiest eats 😀 Safe travels and shopping adventures (if you do that sort of thing).
Happy Thanksgiving people!! Im envious thinking about the yummy family feasts you will all be tucking into.
I’ll be writing and eating vegemite on toast as I type. 😉
42000 words down and Im on the home straight. Yipee.
Im cheering you on too Grey.
Ummm…where is Tessa…
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

‘Jax Rousseau had been thinking a lot about destiny lately. Hers in particular.’
from Jonquils For Jax by Kate Regnery
I’m on a bit of a ‘sweet romances’ thang at the moment and thought I’d try Kate Regnery. She seems pretty popular in this genre, and she has some series about sets of siblings. So if I like this one,…..there’re lots more where it came from. 😀
BTW bev, which book was your intriguing FLT from? (Or did I miss that?)
Amy, hugz to you for your sweet comments. I love reading the blog too. Can’t tell you how many great recs (and how many laughs) I’ve gotten from here! And hugz to Maryse who makes it all possible!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Happy day after Thanksgiving! Hope everyone’s recovering! For the record, apple cider bellinis are dangerous…but YUMM.
Today it’s like book Christmas! Everyone’s reading my favorite authors!
Hey Everyone! Happy post Thanksgiving/Black Friday! I’m not out shopping early today but I’ve been checking out plenty of deals online and starting to put up Xmas tree and decor. I’m hoping to get much of my list done today so I can spend the rest of the Christmas season enjoying family time and reading!! So I just checked my email and had to mention this amazing deal! Mischling by Affinity Konar is on sale for 2.99 today!!! I had been on my library waiting list for this one for a loooong time and when it finally came in, I didn’t think I was in the mood for a World War II book. I figured it would be really good and of course heartbreaking but I didn’t think I was ready to endure that emotionally and honestly didn’t remember what exactly it was about. So I decided to just try it out and take the plunge since, after all, I had really wanted to read it for a while. Well I am so glad I did! I was sucked in from the beginning and the writing was so beautiful and different I think from any WWII book that I have read. I have no idea how to describe it really, I believe I read 1 review that had used the word “lyrical” and that was pretty on point for me. And yes, it was heartbreaking but also full of so much hope. And quite a bit of fantasy maybe as it’s told from the point of view of 2 young twin girls brought to Auschwitz where Mengele was known to have done unspeakable crimes and experiments on twins. Stasha and Pearl made such a huge impression on me and I’ll truly miss reading their story, even though they’re fictional. 😉 I finished this book probably about a week ago and haven’t been able to get into anything since.
That sounds good Tasha, I’ll have to check it out. The Nightingale is the only WWII fiction I’ve read and I loved it.
Has anyone heard of bookoutlet.com? I’m on there now and the hardcover for Everything, Everything is $5.24 today! Does anyone know if it’s YA?
Everything, Everything is YA.
I’m up to 7 books now. I can’t stop! I may get it and give it a shot. I can always give it to the kiddo.
