HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! The FIRST big new release list of October, and it is plentiful! 88+ new releases for us to choose from, including quite a few of our favorite authors (and I. Mean. FAVORITES!!!) on this list, and yep! That one there to my left has me so excited!! HOLY. MOLY COLLLEEEEEN HOOVER!!! IT. IS. LIVE!!!! :D!!! (ALSO!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BFF SHERRY!! :D)
I want to read it next, but I’m vacillating between 2 or three of the latest new releases.
In fact, here’s my mini blurb jolt list. 😉 Without Merit: A Novel (Colleen Hoover is one of my absolute favorite authors. Need I say more?), Breaking Hollywood (Samantha Towle’s latest, she’s homeless and jobless, and she accidentally breaks a famous star’s foot. He’s crude and rude and an ass, but she ends up living with him to take care of him while he’s out of commission…Tee hee!!!), White Silence (I think she can see dead people, and then her husband dies… eeeeep!!), Show Me the Way (A.L. Jackson’s latest, and her new neighbor is a bitter, single dad!! A.L. Jackson writes goooooooooood love stories!!), Viper (NSB Book 3) (Oooh!! NIGHT SHIFTS BLACK alert!! The latest in that series, and this guy is an anti-hero. When I hear that, I hear jerk-face bully!), The Brother (L. Larsen’s latest psych-thriller that is the sequel to her kidnap creep-fest “The Tutor”. I won’t say much more, other than I can’t help but think this one’s going to be even better!!!), The Ghostwriter (Alessandra Torre’s latest – another psych-thriller, and THIS is another one that I’m wanting to read next.)
And then there’s more that I highlighted that also sound pretty darn great. What to choooooooooose. What. To. Choose?
P.S. Also!!! In case you missed it, don’t forget to check out my latest 4.5 star review! ➔ Book Review – Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios
P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

Without Merit!!
*grabs Grey’s glitter bomb and sets it off*
Morning!
Morning guys! Can’t wait to see what everyone thinks about WM. The reviews have been all over the place with that one on my GR feed. Oy I’m so tired. Stayed up way too late reading again!
Good morning! Can’t wait to look through all these book!
**books lol
LLT (Legend Lyrics Tuesday)
‘She’s a good girl, loves her mamma, loves Jesus and America too…’. Free Falling Tom Petty
Lawdy my heart is heavy the past couple of days…
Fanning the glitter….good morning lovelies!!
R, I am starting Without Merit today and will keep you abreast (I love when I have excuse to use that word) of my thoughts. 🙂
Yes!! Let us know, Leslie!
Hey, hey, hey… Don’t be stealing my glitter! *pout*
Lol! Thats an awesome first line… Some author should really use that, LOL! Man, I cannot WAIT for the long weekend! Let’s buddy read something! Pick it… Anything, Maryse, what do you got? Thanks for being awesome, we love you!
It’s live? IT’S LIVE?!?
*checks Kindle library*
It’s there!!!
*grabs remnants from confetti bomb and tosses them around*
Wait, but I wanted to read The Ghostwriter. 😕 How am I supposed to choose between Colleen Hoover and Alessandra Torre??
*sigh*
I’m SO tired this morning (right there with ya, R)…I stayed up until almost 2:00 finishing Bad Romand (yes Maryse, I cried) and now I have to go to work and I. Don’t. Wanna. Guess that solves my reading dilemma until my first break, though. 😉
I’m starting Alessandra’s tonight Amy. I’ve decided. THAT is what I’m in the mood for. A good psych-thriller!!
DG…so sad about Tom Petty. 🙁
Last Dance with Mary Jane…love that song for some reason.
Thanks Leslie! And I love hearing abreast first think in the morning! Sort of first thing. I went back to sleep for a little bit.
DG, so sad. Been listening to him since yesterday. Let’s all take a trip and blast some music.
https://youtu.be/9TlBTPITo1I
Now I can’t get Free Falling out of my head.
I’m still reading Hideaway. It’s a huge book. 🙂 Though it took me forever to actually be able to sit and read it yesterday. That said, I fell asleep reading it.
Breaking Hollywood looks fun.
My husband has a thing about sitting on the back patio and blasting the music of the dearly departed straight into my office. The second I heard yesterday, I walked into his office and said, “Please don’t…I have a deadline.” He had this super guilty look on his face so I looked at his laptop screen and he was in the process of buying Into the Great Wide Open and Damn the Torpedoes albums on Amazon. We have Prime which tells me I won’t be doing any writing Friday. 🙄
*giggle* R is going to go all Mort Rainey on her hubby’s laptop. 😆
I’m with you Robin. Other than Rush, Tom Petty is my husband’s absolute fave. He started playing it for all of us last night.
When Lemmy from Motorhead passed, that was the worst. I got nothing done for days. Then Prince followed and I feel kind of responsible for that one because I sort of wished no more of my husbands “back in the day” bands would grace our sound system for a while. So what happens? One of my “back in the day” singers goes. I sincerely apologize, but I think I may have accidentally killed Prince.
Happy Birthday to your girl Sherry! It’s my birthday too and it’s like the majority of my favourite authors decided to reward us with new releases so many thanks to Colleen, ALJ, Alessandra and Samantha!! What a line up!!! After such a heart breaking day yesterday, I’m going to reflect on my blessings and play Tom Petty songs on a loop and will try and keep the reading light 🙂
Happy birthday Kimberly!!!! 😀 *big squeeeeeezy hug*
OMG–I’m so embarrassed that I missed this. The book that I worked on for the last 5 months was released today! I thought it was coming out next week–duh!
Maryse, I have another book for today’s release list if you want to add it–“The Lawyer and the Tramp” by Soraya Naomi. Thank you!!!
Thank you Nay! I added it. 😀
Oh no R!
My two favs – Prince and Tom Petty!
Amy – love Last Dance with Mary Jane as well! So many good ones!
Bev- love the walk down memory lane with the music videos- makes me miss MTV, when that was all they played was music videos!
*promptly returns glitter bomb to Grey*
DG, did you know they are bringing TRL back?
Nay, I forgot too! Royally Ruined by Nora Flite came out today. It’s a second book and better than the first. It’s up there, but I forgot to post my review on Amazon this morning.
ooooooooh! The new Rick Riordan (for those of us who read children’s books) is out today too. YEAH!
Best book of the month rollcall. What’s the best book you all read in Sept? Right now, I’m deciding between four.
*blinks* *blinks*
Hideaway was awesome. It was just as dark and messed up as the first one, if not more so. Just… you all need to read Corrupt and Hideaway.
Now, my sick, twisted self is most interested in the next one, Kill Switch, with my favorite of the Horsemen.
When music stations actually played music. *sigh*
I think I posted it somewhere else but mine was Charm of Finches hands down.
I think I can predict this month already, but I’m torn between two for September. Begin Again by Mona Kasten and Accidental Witness by Sam Moriano. Begin Again was such a wonderful book and he was SUCH A JERK! lol And Accidental Witness starts off kind of predictable, thinking HS mafia has been done (though I love it so I’ll keep going back to the trope) to OMG, WTF… dark. 🙂
Tom Petty….sniff sniff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So sad about Tom Petty. Love his music.
But guys, I’m dancing around right now like a fool because of Viper! You know how much I love Night Shifts Black and Tracing Holland, and I didn’t even know there would be another book! (And Tessa, he sounds like a total jerk)!
I read a lot of good books in September so I can’t pick just one: Begin Again, Charm of Finches, Fraternize, Bright Side/Gus, and just finished off the month with Girl Crush which I loved! (Heroine is totally obsessed with OPI nail polish and she’s hysterical)!
😀 Sure… use those words why don’t you. I’m reading a book I forgot I requested. I got three arcs at once. 0.0 All look good, but dang!
Omg Tessa, HTF did you finish Hideaway already?!? Its huge?!? *giggle* nope, stop… Seriously.. Amy … Stop laughing… R….stop, Maryse is gonna yell at us if we can’t behave…no for reals though Hideaway is ginormous and I have had no times to read and I wanna!!! *stomp stomp stomp* (so I may have updated my sub plans and I *may* be feeling a bit under the weather on Friday… What… Didn’t you guys know I was psychic? 😉 )
lol I can’t help it. I read fast. 🙂 That said… I want Damon’s book. Like, now. She can write it through reverse osmosis, right?
I wanna hideaway with a huge, ginormous…read. 😛
*snort*
You girls are so bad!!!!!! LOL!!! 😛
Finally catching up. Busy weekend and I was feeling a little under the weather today so got to stay home and read. (Know exactly what you mean about updating the sub plans and being psychic Grey). *wink wink*
Finished Racer. It was a sweet, low angst ok read for me.
Now one-clicking Breaking Hollywood and Puck Love to start. I’m unsure about Without Merit, only because the h is seventeen and I don’t usually like YA books. Waiting to hear about it from whomever reads it next.
Tessa – had not heard that TRL was coming back. Guess that is better than nothing, right?
I think if I had to narrow down my BEST book of the month…Malachi and I. It has stuck with me. I randomly find myself thinking about the characters or something that occurred in the book.
Also just finished Sledgehammer! I know I raved on Wrecking Ball because it reminded me of Wall of Winnipeg and Me…BUT I just think I LOVE her books! I absolutely loved Ethan and his bubble-butt self! He was so different than a lot of the other H’s I have read and I just loved the gestures and looks! Well done!
DG, it doesn’t look that appealing. No countdown? So is it going to be the same regurgitated stuff that’s on the radio? https://ew.com/tv/2017/10/02/mtv-trl-revival-changes/
Yeah R I’m with you. Charm of Finches was the September winner for me too.
Well crap Tessa! They might as well rename the stinking channel! Maybe dramaTV because last time I flipped through that was all I saw. SMH
You know what I hate almost as much as “death” books? Death movies! Movies disguised as romance but actually kill off the MC. What in the actual *BLEEP* is up with that???? Grrrrrr.
*deep cleansing breaths*
Ok, rant over. I had to vent. Back to our book happy place. Which reminds me, I finished Dr. ER by Max Monroe and it was good! Great narration, funny (but not OTT) and sexy.
Best of September was Charm of Finches for me too…but that’s kind of a no-brainer!!! I cannot get Stef out of my brain. I lurve him so much!
Someday, when I am NOT a book-wuss, I will brave Suanne Laqueur’s books. They sound amazing.
I so wish you liked PNR Leslie! Just think of all the backlog of series you’d have to read!!!!!!!
Honest truth, Leslie. This Man I Love might not work for you. I don’t know about the other series, but that one might be too much. I’m not sure if you can handle that twist. *hugs*
Ela, you know what’s ironic. I bet if there are PNR out there that she’d like, they’d be the type that I don’t. She likes more romance, less action in her PNR. ALL THE PNR I’VE READ AND I CAN’T RECOMMEND ONE TO HER! *sighs*
I’m the same way Tessa!
Oh Leslie! What about Cate Tiernan Sweep series? That one is pretty romantic…
I remember reading those. I read them back when they first came out, so probably only the first few. Honestly, I don’t remember much, but I do remember the romantic part (and some of the issues that came up). It is far more Twilight-esque than most.
I agree with Tessa, Leslie. I’m not sure you’d be able to handle either series (Larks isn’t a romance anyway). If you did try Fish, you’d really have to commit to 3 books to get the full HEA. It;s worth it, but it will put you through the ringer. Think 3 of It Ends With Us, but probably more painful.
Thanks for the honesty Tessa.
Ela, I have never heard of the Sweep series. I added it to my “PNRs to Try Someday” list. 🙂
I actually read AND enjoyed 1st book in Karina Halle’s Experiment in Terror series recently. I didn’t continue series only because I have SO MANY challenges to finish before end of year. Of course all the shinies lure me as well.
*side eyes Maryse, the evil book temptress*
*grins at being a book temptress*
I’m reading The Ghostwriter, and it’s SO good already. 35% in and I already had a fun twist reveal that I didn’t see coming. I think it’s going to hurt my heart overall though… yikes. I’m scared. Delightfully so!
Holy book angst, R.!
I loved It Ends With Us but… that sucker had me so upset that it took a few hours before I could compose myself to leave the house.
Yep. Fish Tales gutted me. It still guts me. You really have to be a masochist.
It’s Lisa’s birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*borrows Grey’s glitter bomb again and sets it off*
Happy Birthday Lisa!!!
*huggles*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Lisa!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!!!!!
*biiiiig squeeeeeeeeezy hug* :D!!!!!
OMG IT ENDS WITH US WAS SO NOT CLOSE TO FISH TALES!
I was trying to give her a pain level! Not compare the two!
DUDE!!!!!!!!! HOLD YOUR PANTIES, IF YOU’RE WEARING THEM!
Happy birthday, Lisa!!! Bwahaha, I read Leslie’s message and thought that she stole my *Jaeger* bombs not my glitter bombs 😆 *oopsie* *glitter and confetti toss for good measure* but no alcohol throwing…. Because that’s just not responsible…
Stayed up last night and finished Ghostwriter. Wow. Author is just unbelievable. She has to be one of the most creative authors of subject matter around. Her storylines are like no one else. I had almost all pieced together except one detail which you do not get until end. Just cant get myself to read Deanna for some reason but have read every other book. A must read
That’s the one I’ve been reading Theresa!!! 😀 I LOVE that author!
I WANT THIS BOOK YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!

Happy birthday Lisa!!!
Happy Birthday!!
Yeah Grey. Throwing alcohol is just a waste of good alcohol. 😛
Ela, then I designate you Guinea pig to make sure I won’t have issues. 🙂
I’LL TAKE THAT CHALLENGE AND NOT TELL YOU ANYTHING AFTER I’M DONE 🙄
Can 41 year olds pout and stomp off? If so, I’m doing that.
*hugs Lisa* Have a great day.
*laughs at Ela’s glee over new dark read* That title! WTAH? *shakes head*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!
Ela, that is some blurb! Damn, crazy train of wtf!!!!
Ela–I know! I’m SO looking forward to that. Love the cover!
Happy Birthday, Lisa!!!!!!
Ok so I started reading “There’s someone inside your house” last night and fell asleep but couldn’t wait to find out who the killer was soooooooo
I one click the audiobook and listed on the way to and from work lol
Even though it was a teen read I totally dug it and would recommend the audiobook for this one too!!!!
*squeeeeee* bev and I were supposed to buddy read that one, Kooloo!!!! 😀
Spoiler free update on Without Merit – I am only 17% in and so far it is WEIRD. The story, the situations and all the characters are extremely and OTT strange. I haven’t decided yet if I hate it or if it is brilliant. I will update as I progress.
Well damnit – I missed Birthday Wishes!! Can I get a do-over and some extra glitter?
It’s your birthday ALL week Lisa!!!
Let’s start the party!! 😀
*glitter bomb!!!*
When are we gonna read Sick Fux, Ela???

Guys! It’s been a while since I’ve read a book I couldn’t put down and couldn’t wait to get back to……my mind is spinning and I’m only at 30%….. not sure where it’s going…. this is an ARC I received that is not coming out until January. I’ll keep you updated….. it’s a page flipper for sure!
Epic book fail!! 🙁
Without Merit is not at all what I thought it would be. I loved the teaser and that scene happened in first chapter. It was ONLY thing interesting I have come across. I am at 30% and waving the white flag.
DNF
What is the opposite of setting off glitter bomb?
Oh no Leslie! I’m shocked!
Yup Jean….not my type of story. No romance (despite what teaser implied) at all @ 30% in. I really thought it would be Maybe Someday-ish and it’s not. Lot’s of other reader’s loved it though, but sadly not my cuppa.
FLT…I’m cheating. I just started my friend Erica Lynn’s Gretel and I couldn’t pass up this line(s) from the “warning.”
“I warn you, their story should not be taken lightly, for we all toe the line between human and savage animal. We walk around in the light, hoping others don’t see the depravity lurking within, begging to be let free. So take a deep breath, set up your defenses, and slowly turn the page. I dare you.”
I knew it wasn’t a romance Leslie, but IDK how I knew. Maybe reviews. That sucks!
Ooo R! That dare sounds like an invitation to me! Has the book been released yet?
Not yet but really soon! It’s a “Dark and Sexy Fairy Tale” novella and perfect for October so she needs to hurry! And…ahem…Hansel and Gretel are NOT related in this version…
Jean – I have that ARC too, and it’s my next ARC to read, so I’m super excited now!!!
For the last ten years, I’ve vowed that this moment wouldn’t bother me, but it does. The Evolution of Ivy: Poison. I’m enjoying the heck out of it. Ivy/Emily is just kinda tragic and her thinking and actions are so whacked and flawed. Just my cuppa!!! And our dear Ela picked this for me to read this month…She just gets me!!!
I LOVED that first book Lisa. I need to continue!
“Hail No” by Lanai Lynn Vale was a HAIL YESSS for me. Totally sucked into the DRAMA that surrounded theses characters lol and there was a heck of a lot of it let me tell you!!!! But I thought it was a great start to the serries 😉

So, I found a butternut squash mac n cheese recipe a couple weeks ago that I’ve been craving since (even though I’ve never had it before). Today, I made the recipe for lunch, through I thought it was weird that it didn’t really have cheese and I could’ve sworn it was cheese sauce with butternut squash blended in. It was really good, not what I thought, but super healthy (I really need to up my veggies and this was a good way to do it) and I think I’ll make it several more times. So I thought I’d share the recipe, if you want a comfort food without the guilt that’s got a fall feel to it. Ignore the baby/toddler part, lol, mine knew something was up anyway and wasn’t thrilled. It works for adults too! https://www.babyfoode.com/blog/2014/12/3/butternut-squash-mac-and-cheese-for-toddler
*In getting the link, I found the recipe I thought it was, but I don’t feel too cheated. I don’t like to put too much cheese in my diet anyway. 😉
I shall try it Tasha!!! 🙂
Tonight I had ZOOdles. Zucchini “noodles” (basically spiralized zucchini) with marinara sauce… and well… I needed protein so I added cottage cheese to the mix. *ahem*
I know what y’all are thinkin’
I swear it’s delicious!!!!!
Dropping in to say hi and…

It’s from the first chapter and not the prologue. I had to use it. 😉 I. Am. LOVING. It.
P.S. Same as Amy on my FLT:

Amy, you better run. R will be throwing something bigger than peanuts at you for that comment!
I want to read The Ghostwriter asap!
Lisa, The Wife Between Us is really great so far….@ 50%…..I hope it continuess to the end! I’ll be looking for your updates on GR when you start it!
LOL Jean. Male POV is strike one! I wouldn’t think she’d like it.
It’s okay Amy. We both agreed. Our angst box is broken. Remember? Go read Corrupt instead. It will appeal to your broken box syndrome. 🙂
FLT:
The elevator jolted to a stop.
Capture by Rachael Van Dyken
Nothing sounded interesting so I went with a re-read. One too many meh books in a row.
Maryse, what is with you and cottage cheese? 😉 I actually love it but know you eat it in some unconventional ways. Please refresh my memory.
Btw, I love zoodles. I imagine the cottage cheese with it sort of mimicks ricotta??
Yes Leslie!! I use cottage cheese as a “ricotta” every chance I get. It’s a whole food with amino acids and protein. SO Perfect!
Also, in a really hot dish (baked for example) it melts wonderfully.
I saw a segment on Dr. OZ where he was promoting cottage cheese. To be honest I was surprised as its not low in fat (at least the kind I eat) and it’s very high in sodium. Not that I am into eating healthy. I love me my full fat dairy products!! *snort*
But I guess its got protein and calcium benefits?
I go for the full fat cottage cheese too. In fact, I’ve tried ALL the brands, and Publix “large curd” is my absolute favorite. I’ll eat a small bowl of that with a touch of hot sauce sprinkled over top as a midnight snack. 🙂
Omg, speaking of yummy dairy products…I got this limited addition pumpkin cream cheese that tastes like pumpkin cheesecake. PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE!!!
OMG Maryse you need to check out “Chemistry” by C.L. Lynch!!!!!!
I don’t want to ruin the surprise but on the cover is a heart ❤️ Not an apple.
Looks too good to pass up… one clicked that baby lol

Leslie!!! This one’s for you toooooooo 😉
FLT: Dear Brooke, The first words are the hardest to write, so here goes nothing……
From ‘Forget’ by N.A Alcorn. I’m reading it as part of one of our Good Reads challenges – a pick-for-me to try to reduce our tbrs. Picked for me by Paula 🙂 Thanks Paula.
It’s a cute story so far. I’m about 1/4 way in.Our h is in Paris and enjoying some freedom after a crappy time. Then she meets a hot musician, Oh yeah……
Kooloo, that book DOES look adorable!
Maryse, there must be some truth in the cottage cheese thing as you manage to keep thin! Honestly, most lower fat dairy products taste horrible, why bother? I’d rather eat the yummy stuff in moderation and enjoy myself. Hmmm, so hot sauce. I will try it. I thought there were other weird things you did with it?
Jan, Forget and Blur are sooooooo good!! You are in for a treat.
Mine is the same as D.G.and i love this author!!
FLT: “Don’t cry. Don’t you dare cry, Ava Simms.” Breaking Hollywood by Samantha Towle. I cheated and added the second sentence.
I also did a quick re-read of the first book Wardrobe Malfunction since the h and H were secondary characters in it and I wanted to reacquaint myself to what happened previously. Both books are standalones, but I would highly recommend reading both and in order.
Maryse, the candy corn jello shots look amazing. Now you just you behave yourself and don’t down too many of them…… 😉
Oh, oh, Chemistry sounded great until…… it’s a zombie book 🙁 Just, no. Yeah, it’s a comedy, but zombies are pretty much a no-go for me. Even worse on TV when you have to LOOK at them. Eeek!
(Yeah, I don’t like vampires either. I know, lame, huh?)
Cottage cheese and pepper was my childhood favorite! I can eat it with fruit too, but there’s comfort in it plain with some pepper. I need to invest in a spiralizer, that recipe of yours sounds good too! I’ve been stuck on Veronica Mars the past couple days. I think I’ve watched 12 episodes. Now, I have to send the movies back and wait for more to come. So I’ve been sneakily checking out spoilers online. I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to watch it! The theme song is stuck in my head.
Oh, Chemistry….I love zombie comedy. I shall check it out. But Jan, didn’t you love The Passage? That has vampires. I still need to finish, but they’re not even nice, romantic vampires. Lol I thought that was you anyway, sorry if I’m mixed up.
I love spiraled veggies. I own a spiralizer, but I still buy them pre-spiraled because I’m lazy. Love the spiraled butternut squash! Doing spaghetti squash this weekend though with the famous 3 ingredient tomato sauce!
Yeah I did love The Passage. true. I guess I can make exceptions sometimes. They weren’t normal vampires, though. (What’s a normal vampire?) LOL.
My dog got sprayed by a skunk… It’s been an awful evening here. My bestie came for scandal date night… And we wound up scrubbing the dog. My house reeks. I stink. Ugh. It’s 135am est. Totally not working tomorrow.
Oh no Grey! We used to have that happen all the time with Alice. Diet Coke works the best. We use a whole 12pk on her. But you gotta get it on their little faces. Before you go inside. There is nothing you can do about your house but let it fade, and it will. You’ll notice it less in a couple days.
Okay, to be fair about The Man I Love…I didn’t dislike it, I just didn’t LOVE it.
And I appreciate y’all not being too harsh on me. 😉
Zoodles, pumpkin cream cheese, cottage cheese…and CANDY CORN JELLO SHOTS!!!! Holy freaking moly YUM!!
Yes, I am SO making those shots. They sound even better than the ones I’ve made before. I like to make them with disposable shot glasses and hand them out to parents while the kids trick-or-treat. 😉
So, Chemistry…is it actually a zombie comedy? I like zombie books just not sure if I can do a comedy one…
Oh Grey…
*snorts*
*plugs nose*
*slides tomato juice over to Grey*
That SUCKS.
