Yesterday was an INSANE “early” book release day ➜ Monday Early Bird Book Releases! (<— YOU HAVE TO check out this list!!! So many of ’em are in the top 100 of Amazon right now, in fact)!
Andrea: what a busy Monday it was in book world!!
Maryse: …yes, yesterday was a STAR release day for sure. 😀
PLUS! I’m reading one of them as we speak (Playboy Pilot by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland). PLUS!!! I’m also reading (almost finished) one that is coming out next week (Transfer (The Retrieval Duet Book 2) by Aly Martinez), and both of these books are doing it for me! 😀
BUT!!! TODAY is the “official” weekly release day, and you know there are a few below that made me go… “I WANNA READ THIS NOW!!!”
Like… My Lucky Days (that one up there to the left. I LOVE this author, and this one is calling to me BIG TIME! He’s an up and coming country star, and she’s a college student and they meet and fall head-over-heels, but him being on the road tears them apart), The Kept Woman (that title ALONE has me on edge, and it sounds like some a marital discord thriller), Sweet Dreams (sounds SO fun! She has a one night stand, and then soon finds herself touring his HUGE company with her culinary school), The Plan (sounds heart wrenching and deep – she’s grieving the loss of her husband and children, and he’s an Irishman that was born disabled), Ruin (OMG THE COVER AND BLURB of this one!!! She keeps smiling despite the “mean girls” and he is fascinated with her… but then destroys her! *gasp*!!!), Drawn Deeper (his alcoholic wife leaves them without a trace, and he’s raising his sons as a single father, and then someone shows up, turning his world upside down).
So many book-GOODIES!!!
Oh!! AND ➜ All-New Fire HD 8 Tablet, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 16 GB – Includes Special Offers <— NEW KINDLE FIRE up for pre-order going live TOMORROW (on September 21st 2016)!!
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

Maryse, there is no way you got through this without bawling!!
Perfect Chemistry (A Perfect Chemistry Novel Book 1) by Simone Elkeles <— GANG MEMBER & A GOOD GIRL ALERT! “She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she’s worked so hard for-her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect…” and Lindsay found it for us! “Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles is on sale…!! I was up all night finishing Heroes by Ednah Waters JUST so I could start Magic Binds today. *thinks* *throws a peanut at Maryse* Read this series!
LOL!!!!
*chomps yummy peanut* 😛
It was honey covered. *nods*
More please!!
*opens mouth ready to catch*
Gah!!! I don’t know who recommended Wild Abandon to me, but I think it was Jean. I’m in Swoonville right now. Good things happen when you decide to burn through your TBR! I’ve been saying “just one more chapter” since I woke up this morning!
*throws nine more* Plop plop plop!
Soooooooooooo! You guys had to know this was coming! Brad and Angelina??????????? I say Woooooooooohooooooooooo!
Why woohoo? I honestly don’t are either way except for thepoor kids, but I have to know! Why woohoo? More Brad movies?
Tessa, Angelina filed for divorce! I swear this will be all the mags will talk about for months! I think it’s sad, I hated them together at first, but grew to like them and I thought for sure they’d make it. They seemed to be such a power couple raising all those kids, doing worldly things, and A list actors
Sucks for the Pitt-Jolie kids, even if they had an unconventional family dynamic to begin with. 🙁
Oh man, I am really, really, REALLY liking Secret Sins! I went back to the Submission series and brushed up a little on who Margie was, and I have a feeling this story is going to hurt…whether it’s a little or a lot remains to be seen.
You know what I’m really enjoying though? The time jumps. They don’t always work in books, but in this one they do!! At one point she references a puzzle clicking into place (or something along those lines), and that is exactly what is happening as it jumps forward and back to a few different points in time. The time jumps are not linear, and I’ve read books like that before where it frustrated and/or irritated me, but with this one it seems to be the perfect way to tell her story. I think even if you haven’t read the Submission series (although it will help with the impact, as usual), you can definitely still read this one by itself. 😉
I know it probably sounds ridiculous, but I love seeing William and Kate with their two adorable kids. 😀
Tessa, R does not know who Simon Wolfgard is.
I know right.
You know what we have to do….go to our rec buttons.
R will know what she has to do.
Or we stop talking to her.
so who let bev on GR? 😀
Amy doesn’t sound ridiculous. I love when the Fug Girls do a royal round up. Cracks me up when they post about George.
https://www.gofugyourself.com/royally-played-princess-charlottes-christening-07-2015
Woohooo because I HATED THEM TOGETHER NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT! YES, SHE DID A LOT OF CHARITY AND GAVE WONDERFUL HOMES TO 3 ADOPTED CHILDREN BUT HOW IT BEGAN I WILL NEVER STOMACH……..EVER EVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW I JUST HOPE SOMEONE CHEATS ON BRAD OR DOES HIM NASTY….KARMA IS A BITCH!
Sad yes, I do feel bad for the kids but I’m assuming this didn’t happen overnight and it appears if he’s drinking and gettin’ high it may be best he’s not around them while he’s into his extracurricular activities?
Either way what the ef ever! Hollywood sucks! I still can’t get over Bennifer! How could he????? I simply loved them (although he did seem unhappy most of the time…is it a perma look he has going on? Imagine your man looking at you like that in bed…wowza freaky uncomfortable)!!!!!
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT????????????????????????? WHAT???????????????????????????????????????????????? R????????????????????????????????????????????????
Ohhhhhhhh, it’s about to get real ’round here! It’s even spilling over from the other post!!
*covers mouth-squeals-bounces in seat*
R,
https://www.maryse.net/books/book-review-written-in-red-by-anne-bishop.html
That time when you have to make a shelf in GR called *add to appease bev* you all have one, right?
I DID MY PART….
WAIT BEV????? Did Maryse continue the series?????
The Wonder by Emma Donoghue released today! I was also eyeing The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter up there, but it’s like the 8th book in a series. Does anyone know if it can be read as a standalone? I really liked her book, Pretty Girls. 28 Days and Ruin also look good to me right now. I’m still reading The Hating Game right now and loving it so far! I wish I didn’t have to adult today.
good lord how many books are there?
You know, I was thinking about how we have these ongoing topics here and then we drag them over to GR when we hijack each other’s reviews in the comment sections (well, at least R and I do *snicker*), and all of the other friends of the reviewer must be all “WTH???” LOL!!!
I only have y’all from here as friends on GR, so I don’t have to worry about that though. 😛
“I wish I didn’t have to adult today.” <—– I love it…using "adult" as a verb. 😉
Most of mine are from here too and the one’s who aren’t are just jealous. Scared, but jealous.

Have all been to the courtyard. It’s a right of passage.
All I know is that I want to hang out with the chicks from the lake. I’ll give them all the scarves they want.
Too many books R. And they might as well be YA (middle school) for all the sexy times they have.
But they have to accept the crows because THEY are the sh!t and I want them for my besties.
Just sayin’.
Ela, as far as I know, Maryse has only read the first one so far.
R! DON’T GET ME STARTED WITH OTHER REC’S THAT HAVE WAY MORE THAN JUST A MEASLY 4 BOOKS OUT! GET TO READING WOMAN!
I read Written in Red too a couple years ago. Loved it but can’t remember if I read number 2 or not. I kept placing holds on one at the library and still never got back to it.
I WANT ONE OF THE PONIES AS MY BESTIE! THEN BY OBLIGATION ONE OF THE CHICKS FROM THE LAKE WILL BE MY BESTIE TOO AND SHE WILL TEAR SHIT DOWN! POOR HUMANS ….*INSERT EVIL LAUGH*…
BEV? WHY HAS MARYSE READ ONLY BOOK 1? BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought the manatee book was the right of passage one? *so confused*

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? THAT YOUR TBR IS LACKING???? THAT YOU NEED TO GET TO PNR ASAP? WHAT? I DON’T GET IT….
Can I just send you my password and you can just redo my TBR? It would probably be a lot easier LOL.
No, NEEDING the manatee to snuffle on him is the right of passage. 😉
Jeez Ela, it’ll take me longer to add all those than to actually read them!
LMFAO….AT LEAST IT’S NOT LIKE JD ROBB’S SERIES THAT’S AT LIKE BOOK 4000000001
I think we should quit adulting today and just be fairies.
Or mermaids!! 😀
I love those mugs!!!
I only read Written in Blood so far, I haven’t delved in further yet…
and I’ll tell you why.
*sigh*
I read some reviews (I can’t remember where???) that said the next two books are nowhere near as exciting as #1. And THEN it gets better again after those.
So I was all…. ??? Ya know?
I got one of those mugs! The Taylor Jenkins Reid one from Maybe in Another Life! I LOVE it!! But…don’t get the pink, has to be hand washed!
SORRY MARYSE! NO I DON’T GET IT! SINCE WHEN DO YOU OF ALL PEOPLE LISTEN TO “THE OTHERS”…SIGH!
Bev you’re up…I have no words for Maryse’s response….absolutely lost with that awful reasoning.
Whoa, whoa, whoa…what mugs??? I wanna look at pretty book mugs!!
I know what I want to do for a living…make nail polish lines to go with books and book series!!
How FUN!!!!
Okay, I’ve had too much caffeine today…
These are the ones I’m talking about. https://heyshabbyme.com/collections/coffee-mugs
Has anyone here read Inarticulate yet? I am 29% in and my emotions are going to explode all over – not to mention other parts!! This man has completely melted me…and I feel heartbreak coming!! He’s a totally alpha male, brooding…and he doesn’t flippin speak. I don’t know why yet…just that he doesn’t…but boy can he communicate in other ways!! I’m dying!
OMG LISA!!!!!
You are speaking my language!! I love the brooding bad-ass heroes that don’t speak (whether by choice, or otherwise).
ADORBS!!!!
And this SHOULD be on a mug:
I want to be a fairy…
Okay, honest truth about the rest of the Other’s series. Two was awesome. I liked it more than one. Three, not so much. It was not as bad as reading Twilight three. (Lovers or haters of the series, admit it. That one sucked!) But then, you get to four, which was so insanely awesome and good, I think it beat number two. Again, like twilight where my favorite was the fourth. STUFFS happened in four. However, two was awesome. Stuff happened there too. Sad stuff, happy stuff, but oh, the one thing. Also, eep stuffs. Yeah. Just three wasn’t as good, but it was decent. If you are willing to traipse through Twilight three *shudders* you can do Other’s three which was at least good.
Ela… sometimes I lose my book-loving mind. 😉
LOL!!!
Awesome explanation, Tessa. Thank you VERY much.
*curtsies*
Hey! I liked Twilight 3…it was um FUN!
😀 Alright, but compare to the other three. The other three, imo, were much better.
I liked the first 3 and not so much the last one…
😉
But I liked the last one anyway, in the grand scheme of things.
I mean they destroyed the bed!! And feathers were everywhere!!!! *squee* LOL!
Ok for all you pumpkin lovers (and haters ;)) we had pumpkin pasta for supper tonight! And even the haters will like this because it tastes like homemade Alfredo, except there’s pumpkin, so it’s festive and you get your veggies all in one! We had rotisserie chicken on the side.
https://www.laurafuentes.com/pumpkin-pasta-recipe/
Tasha J, you’re my kinda “seasonal” people! :D!!!!
Geebas, you girls are outta control in here. I read the first couple Books in the courtyard… Does that count? I liked them well enough… Just wanted moreeee adulting… *waggles my brows*
Grey!
adulting…
*snort* I LOVE it.
Okay, Secret Sins is working me over. I love the writing and I want to cry for Margie since she is trying so hard not to feel anything herself but I can’t cry yet because I just KNOW there is a train wreck coming and all I can do is brace myself for it and save my emotional energy for the impact of it when it happens.
Did I already say I love the writing? Well, I’m saying it again. The author has one tool in her writing toolbox…and it’s a freaking hammer.
Oooooooh AMY.
Okay I want that next.
Okay, 25 minutes on the treadmill and I’m better now. 😉
First off…I LOVE THOSE MUGS!!! I want to quit adulting and be a mermaid during the summer and a fairy during the winter and ride a majestic effing unicorn during the rest of the year. Because the mugs say so.
Twilight…*shrugs* I liked all of ’em. Then again, I didn’t read the books until after I saw movies one through three and in preparation for movie four…those were the last paper books I read (bought a set on eBay!!) as I got my first Nook right after and then discovered the Kindle app for my iPad.
Bed-destroying lovin’…*sigh* A girl can dream. 😛
Exactly, Tessa! If we’re able to read all the Twilight books you can the Others. Except, that almost sounds like I’m comparing them. I’m not.
Night Owl as the need to read book? Really, no.*
Someone needs to take R. Under their wing. ASAP.
*ok really to be hanging out with Maryse I should say it’s Beautiful Disaster, but I’m not going to 😉
Night Owl NO???!!!
What what whaaaaaaaaaaaat???!!!
That one is so … angry, and funny, and sad, and angsty and OOOOOMPHY!!!!!
*R goes into hiding*
How about the book you need to read is Beautiful Disaster? lol For Travis comprehension.
I’ve read that one! Yay! Am I off the hook?
Yes, of course.
I second Maryse on Night Owl.
Now, that one, I might maybe rec to R.
That’s one’s on my TBR!
I’m gonna totally pretend that I didn’t see you guys dissing Twilight. 😉
Was Eclipse #3? Did that have the “tent scene”? That rocked. Loved the tent scene.
I really liked Night Owl. Just can’t remember why! Ha!
I want the ponies & crows & the girls at the lake to be me besties too. And the cute wolf pup. And that hair changing girl. I wanted more sexy sexy time too. Haven’t read latest one. Are they even kissing yet? Ugh!
Oh, yes definitely read Night Owl.
The ponies, chubby grumpy ponies.
Who hasn’t read Immortals After Dark? Are you kidding me right now? Hop to it. Sexy Scottish werewolves! And Nucking Futs Nix!!! Ooh. Love all the early books. Lady few? Meh….
There are like a hundred of them MichelleS! I have commitment issues.
Lol, Leslie. There is only two of us out of ……All the rest of you.
Leslie M… I LOVE ALL of Twilight!!! 😀
Snuggle?
I don’t know Leslie, Maryse does like to sparkle……
I’ve read a couple of the IAD books, MichelleS!! I LOVED the Valkyrie. 😀
One of the scenes that stands out is when she is sitting at an outdoor cafe (I think that’s where it was?) and the guy starts to freak the freak out and is smacking cars and tossing tables, and she is thinking “I feel bad for whoever he is looking for”…then she realizes it’s HER (because she is his mate). LOL!!!!
Amy is that the one where he finally breaks the shackles in the dungeon of hell because he senses his mate is near?
sparkling is my favorite!!!! :D!!!
LOL AMY!!!! Those books are great!
Twilight snuggles?? Count me in.
Yessss….tent scene….aaaahhh…Edward is extra swoony in that.
I actually haven’t read Immortals After Dark. I can’t seem to get into PNR despite my over the top love for Twilight. But will have to try it sometime.
Ohhh…Don’t forget we are supposed to be doing buddy read starting in Oct. for Bronze Horseman series.
One scene stands out for me too: when Bowen finds her pocket rocket and holds it up & says he found her “lipstick”! And she’s mortified because he knows what it is. Gah!
Immortals after dark – you can just read a few of the first & be super happy!
Amy – that was Lachlan when he finally found “her” at the cafe in Paris. Remember when he tore up the headboard because he promised he wouldn’t touch her while she “fed”? Love that one too!!!
Leslie, seriously before you snuggle back ask yourself, Have I seen Maryse in the sun?
Is My Lucky one of those books where he sleeps around with everyone and anyone even though he loves the heroine and she doesn’t sleep with anyone else since he left?!?!
Sure we have. She had on a lot of glitter at the time.
Yep Fabi, that’s the one!!
MichelleS…Lachlan, yes! I haven’t read that one with Bowen but it sounds about par for IAD. 😉
Hey, didn’t we turn someone into a fairy in here not long ago? Someone who wasn’t exactly willing??
*ON here
Stupid autocorrect.
In here / On here
Tomatoe / Tomato
eh – it’s all good
Was it Tessa?
I remember that scene too MichelleS. I certainly haven’t read all of the series, but there sure we’re some hilarious scenes in there.
Bev’s memory is A.mazing
Tessa was willingly being turned into a fairy (I’m pretty sure she only had on pasties *snicker*) but someone else walked in on it and made a comment so we threw glitter on her too. LOL!!!
Was she willing? Didn’t you have her flying around naked?
I’m pretty sure it was bev…
Weren’t Fabi and R going to be naked too? Was it then? At the writers retreat?
I’m glitter resistant.
: – X
But really I thought it might be Fabi. When she was talking about going.
Was it Maryse? But I don’t see Maryse being unwilling.
I’d totally be okay with being a fairy, though not the nekkid part. 😛 Okay you all, make me full on clothed fae! *waits*
*smacks a glittery sticker on bev’s rear*
Nope, Tessa was willing from what I remember. 😉
And Maryse would have TOTALLY been willing had she been around for it.
Tessa, last time Amy’s idea of dressing you as fae was to dump glitter on you and give you pasties. Lol.
Wow, you guys have been busy!! Have not read any of the pnr books you’ve been talking back and forth about. *hides from peanut attack*
R. your GR shelf categories are impressive.
Amy, I agree, Secret Sins was a nail biter, even more so because I went into it with prior knowledge of Margie and some assumptions from having read the submission series. My only complaint was I wanted more of an ending.
I started Playboy Pilot. Have to say so far it’s well-written, and the h and H have been open and honest about their thoughts, feelings and baggage. No secrets or lack of communication or mind games. He’s not a broody male. Of course all of these are thus far. Can’t wait to see where this one goes.
Amy meant to say “Tessa was ‘waylaid’…”
Thanks Cheryl! I’m especially proud of my bev/Ela shelf to hide, I mean store their recs in.
Fabi, lol. That’s how I remember it too.
R, I can’t believe you actually made that a shelf. You know Cheryl hasn’t read WiR either.
You guys were scaring me. I didn’t know how many books I was going to have to keep track of! It started with just a few but then Ela went all nuts with some bazillion book series and my laptop started smoking.
hahaha R
Okay, I’m p!ssed. I was at 62% of Secret Sins, waiting for the big *GASP* moment that would mess me up, and then…
The end.
It’s over.
The hell?? That’s IT?!?
I already figured out what was going on, and apparently that was the “twist.” But it wasn’t shocking (for me, at least) and compared to the previous emotions the story stirred up, it was all so anticlimactic and wrapped up WAY too quickly. I thought I still had a good 35% to go, so I’m sitting here rubbing my hands together and just waiting for the train wreck, but the rest of it is just ads for other books and the first few chapters of Beg, which I’ve already read dangit! Now I just feel like I’ve been hoodwinked! Okay, I’m done ranting. *crosses arms and sits back*
By the way…I want to know the answer as well to Jen’s question ’cause I don’t want to go near that book if the answer is yes. 😉
Oooh Robin I love those mugs…..
Im listening to my first audio book and its weird. Its The Muse, my RL book club book and the narrator is doing all the accents. It feels a bit like my imagination is not required.
I download and (most of the time) read everything Bev badgers me about. And in her defence she hasn’t let me down yet…except for the M/M one about the prince. …couldnt get into that one.
I dont like those books either Jen. The most recent biker book I read the H had to go and hook up with ‘club pussy’ to get his head on straight after every time he was with the h. *Gags*
I spent half the book itching to nut punch someone!!
Aren’t they cute? The shipping makes them a little pricey, but they’re a great gift to myself when my husband’s being a twat waffle. So much easier than arguing. “Really? You’re just going to leave your crap everywhere? Fine. I’m buying a mug.”
Bwahahaha, oh a good time was had by all last night I see! I hate it when I miss the fun!
I didn’t care for the 2nd Twilight book as much, it irritated the sh*t out of me… But bring on the glitter! LOL you naughty bunch of rabblerousers.
I don’t think I’ve read IAD either… *slinks off to my corner*
Omg R., I spit out my coffee over “twat waffle”. You go girl!! Show that hubby you mean business and buy those mugs. (Which are adorbs)
I’m thinking I should make a GR shelf that says “Amy loved it so I should never read it”. (for all those heart-wrenching/death book/tearjerkers)
I’m looking forward to reading Playboy Pilot. That’s on my neverending list. Right now I’m listening to The One Real Thing/Samantha Young & reading For the Love of English/A.M. Hargrove.
Okay, back to talking Twilight (as I could ramble on forever about that) …my favorite book is New Moon (book 2). The beginning part in the woods (heart-wrenching)…then the end in Italy (I couldn’t read it fast enough).
Don’t you wish we could wipe our brains clean and be able to go back to re-read all our faves for the very first time again?
I’m not sure I could take Thoughtless again. I’m so lame that I started crying other day when I accidentally clicked on “my quotes” on GR. I can’t even read QUOTES from Thoughtless without crying!!!!
Thanks Leslie. There’s another I can move from my tbr to my “for R” aka “never ever read list”. 🙂
Well – Finished Inarticulate, and I was right. It broke my heart. I thought it was beautiful. The Hero was well, swooooon, just swoooooon!!! And now I just one-clicked Ruin by Clarissa Wild. Anyone read that one yet? I think I’m actually going to read Author Anonymous before Ruin…but just wondered if anyone had anything to offer to sway my decision on reading order, LOL
Lisa, I loved Author Anonymous…well, I loved that it was un-putdownable for me. However, LOTS of people hated it. Maryse did a great review on it….I don’t write reviews as I’m not good at them…but hers will give you a great spoiler free feel for it.
I’m liking these new shelves. It’s going to make it much easier to narrow down my choices!
Lisa, I too loved Author Anonymous. Really well written great story. Hated the characters. Amy was recommending Rainfall the other day so I read that and loved it. That’s really good. I really like a book that you can connect to the characters.
I have never read Twilight. I have it. Just never got round to reading it.
Loved Thoughtless Lesley. I think I read it 2 or 3 times the whole series. Great book.
You guys are crazy and that’s why I love ya!
So many new books that look great. Secret Sins….moving it up. Amy, where was the h from in previous books. I’ve read a lot of them (but lIke you can’t exactly remember them).
Inarticulate…….Lisa!!! Magic words! I am all over that one! Mine!
Okay girls, I’m only gonna say this once (well I might repeat myself). I’m reading Tracing Holland, the 2nd book in the Night Shifts Black series and FRIGGING LOVING IT! Luke Craven! Loved the first one too. R, are you listening to me?!?!
*fist bumps MichelleS* YES IAD ROCKS HARD EVEN THE LATEST ONES, I LOVE EM ALL (maybe not equally but still)!
What about Lords of the Underworld series? Now those rock hard too, Nix even made a cross over appearance! I haven’t read some of the latest ones because too much is starting to go on like in BDB. There’s just so many books a girl can get confused in…LOL
Done and done.
Jean – let me know what you think of Inarticulate once you read it. I don’t know what it was about that man, but I Just. Can’t. Even. I don’t have words for why I loved him so much. Love to hear what you think about it!
“Have you ever fought an opponent you had no defense against? Like a fire breather or an acid spitter?”
“Once I faced a female with diamond skin,” Nix said breathlessly. “I was transfixed – even as she was choking the life out of me.”
“Really?”
“No, I saw that character on X-Men. I just wanted to commiserate. Alas, I have no weaknesses.”
― Kresley Cole, Pleasure of a Dark Prince
Um Jean…forget spirit animal, you’re more like my book whisperer. First person, present tense, which is my preference, AND OMG the writing. It’s been a while since I’ve read two actual pages of really good writing. I try not to be too picky so unless it bugs me, I don’t drop stars for it, but this is a treat.
“Can’t hear… call back… good luck…”
“Nïx, I know you’re faking the static.” She could picture her sister blowing into her fist directly at the receiver. The static abruptly stopped.
“Why?”
“It seemed less rude than the alternative.”
“What’s that?”
Click.”

Ela! Have you lost your mind? Um, I haven’t read anything by Kresley Cole yet……*ducks*
R, are you still talking about Wild Abandon? Please read Night Shifts Black next. So curious as to your opinion!
Lisa, I will definitely keep you updated on Inarticulate once I get to it!
Heya Jean! Last time I checked my mind is in tact! What is your point? I’m nudging you TO READ IAD! It’s not like I’m spoiling something! Geez woman get a grip!
Jean sorry I didn’t clarify, I am talking about NSB!
Haha Ela! You’ve never steered me wrong before! And we are very compatible according to GR.
R, I FREAKING LOVE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!
Jean, this is the kind of writing that helps my writing. I rarely find books that do that for me. The feeling is mutual.
Yay, I’m grinning like an idiot right now! Wait until you get to Tracing Holland. I’m nervous now, really hope you love it as much as I did! OK, I’ll stop bothering you now so you can go read!
Off topic, but remember how I said I watched Bridget Jones’s Baby over the weekend? Anyway it had a lot of good looking previews and this one just popped back into my head and I had to share! For all you dog lovers out there and it’s even based off the novel A Dog’s Purpose from W. Bruce Cameron! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1jLOOCADTGs
Ha! I wish, but for now I have to write–before I get hooked! I wasted all of yesterday on WA!
Nucking Futs Nix is awesome. When she makes a game play move, it always makes me laugh. I can’t wait for her book, yet I sooooo can. Hers will be the last one. 🙁 I want Fury’s book!
Hey Maryse! Just wanted to let you know that my hot British soccer sports romance is releasing Friday and currently up for 99c preorder. Price will change after release day in case you wanted to let your followers know!
Oh, and Magic Binds was as awesome as expected. 😀
Oh Tessa!!!!!!! The last book released, I believe had all new characters, at least to me they were! If we go through all of the Lore I’m sure KC will keep us in books for another decade or 2? Then of course don’t forget we have Lothaire’s “cousins”…
RIght. The cousins. I saw that the next cousin book is going to be MM. We’ll seeon that one. The next besides the cousins book is Sian’s and then after that, FURIE! *grins*
I’m thinking I should make a GR shelf that says “Amy loved it so I should never read it” <——- LOL!!!! You know, it really is good to push yourself beyond your comfort zone. Just sayin'. 😉
Jean…don't let my tantrum sway you from Secret Sins. It really was good but I think I just have a warped craving for train wrecks. Margie first showed up in Control, and SS takes place way before any of the Submission books. Unfortunately, the Submission series doesn't give us any idea how things turned out for Margie after SS, and I'm a little bummed that SS didn't give us more of an epilogue. 😕
Back to Twilight…did any of y’all ever read the novella, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner? It’s about the young girl who was turned into a vampire in Eclipse by the “bad” vampires. It was pretty good but made my heart ache a bit.
See see seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who the hell is Sian?????
https://kresleycole.com/bookshelf/the-immortals-after-dark-series/immortals-after-dark-character-descriptions/
Not interested in Bree, Amy! No offense but she got dead and had no impact on Bella, Eddy boy, nor Jacob….so no nope!
LOL Ela!! “She got dead.” I read it. It was really good, but I kinda agree with Ela.
Wow Ela…that hurt. 🙁
See, we have enough characters for a few more dozen books????
https://immortalsafterdarkiad.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters
I read it Amy. It was pretty heartbreaking. I read everything I could get my hands on at the time. I was -obsessed-
Just saying how it is Amy, no sugar coating…sorry, not so sorry!
Let me cheer you up! Did you see the new pretty eye colors on Sephora’s site? I almost bought 2 not so new ones, one from Dior and the second from Armani…and of course I already have them but from different brands!

Tried posting the links to the items but moderation has to approve them…booo
THANK you, Fabi. *sticks tongue out at Ela*
Did you read Sweet Ruin?
Ela is definitely in rare form today! Lol!
Amy, you should read Night Shifts Black and Tracing Holland, seriously!!!!!
Ela, you read it. Abyssian Infernas, prince of Pandemonia, was the first to join Rune. Does that help?
Of course not Tessa! I’m reading the Wiki Characters page…
“Ela is definitely in rare form today” what is that supposed to mean, missy?
Amy! I take my pretties back! I’m not sharing my Sephora experience with YOU *sticks out tongue farther*
Lol Ela! No offense! It just seems like you are “taking names and kicking ass”……look out Amy!
The Wiki character page obviously hasn’t been updated. Rune was the main male character of the last book. The last book included Thaddeus’s sister. Rune’s friend is Sian.
https://immortalsafterdarkiad.wikia.com/wiki/The_M%C3%B8ri%C3%B8r There!
It’s funny you should say (write) that Jean because yesterday I recommended the entire IAD series to R and YOU KNOW WHAT???? SHE DID NOT ACCEPT A ONE BOOK 🙁 HOW RUDE???
*APPLAUSE TO TESSA*
Pshh…I thought I was going to get my a$$ kicked on the side of the road yesterday by a massive hawk, so I sure as heck can take on Ela!!
And you know what, Ela? You can keep your Sephora pretties ’cause I’m hitting up Ulta every day for their 21-day special sales!! So THERE!
*secretly goes to Sephora website*
Ela, I would most definitely accept any and all book recs from you! And now Amy’s getting snarky. I think we are all in rare form today!
Ela! You sent me like a hundred recs! I’ll have to take a day off to add them. Maybe two.
OOH! Did you guys see the cover for Bad Mommy yet?!?
https://www.tarrynfisher.com/cover-reveal-for-bad-mommy/
Oh phssssssssssshhhhhhh! Whatevs Amy…I can be snarky too! *browsing Nordstrom’s cosmetics* so there!
Woman I will sit on you AND YOU WILL NOT GET UP THEN I SHALL GET YOUR ASS KICKED… AND ALL OVER STUPID BREE…???? REALLY ??????????? AMY????? REALLYYYYY????????
*crosses arms and raises left eyebrow*
Yes, Ela. Really.
It’s not Bree…it’s the principle.
*runs to TBR, adds Ela’s recs*
Amy, you might want to add them too.
Bree? I missed something.
I just added all the IAD books to my “want to read” shelf before I get yelled at by Ela!
Yeah? Well I’m about to send Ela a nice little rec and we’ll see how she likes that.
I love that cover Amy and it’s Tarryn Fisher! No brainer!
Please R, tell me you’ve read the Love Me With Lies series by Tarryn!
Jean, right?? It looks like a woman falling onto some train tracks…I can only imagine how the cover ties into the book!
I’ve only read one TF book and I wasn’t crazy about it. I was definitely in the minority though. I think it was The Opportunist. I can’t remember why I didn’t like it, but I’d be willing to try her again because she writes more of what I like to read. I have Mud Vein in my TBR, but I might pass on that one.
The Opportunist is the first book in the series R! You have to get back to it……that series is loved by so many here!
Is it the same MC’s? Or a continuation with the secondaries?
Amy, want me to hold your earrings? :>
Jean, I have Night Shifts Black on my tbr. Is Tracing Holland a continuation of the same story/characters? Didn’t want to read the blurb.
Never read Twilight. Watched the movies with my daughter.
Love the cover, hate that it’s not released until 2017!
*hands earrings to Cheryl*
But watch out for someone with the initials M-A-R-Y-S-E…she loves the shinies!
Oooooohhhh who’s earrings are these??!!
MINE!!!! Shinieeeees!!!
R, it’s a continuation with the smell MCS and secondary characters….so great!
Cheryl, yes it is a continuation from NSB.
WHAT PRINCIPLE???????????????? READING ABOUT BREE WHO’S GONE AND GOT DEAD????? THAT SHE HAD A LIFE BEFORE SHE GOT KIDNAPPED, VAMPIRED AND I REPEAT GOT DEAD?????????
R – HERE’S ONE EARING
JEAN – HEAR’S THE OTHER
TESSA – BE SO KIND AND HOLD MY GLASSES
CHERYL – BE A DEAR AND HOLD MY RINGS
FABI – LOVE, HOLD MY WATCH PLEASE
*POINTS TO AMY BRUCE LEE KARATE STYLE AND MOTIONS WITH HANDS TO COME FORWARD*
OH, DID I MENTION MY HUSBAND IS A BLACK BELT IN SEVERAL MARTIAL ART SCHOOLS AND TRAINS ME????? OOPS MISSED THAT DETAIL
MARYSE. PLEASE. DON’T. TOUCH. MY. JEWELRY. OH AND CAN YOU HOLD MY BRACELET?
Ela… what a pretty bracelet. I LOVE bracelets!!!
I think we need a round of martinis or three. 😛
OMG! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO??? R DIDN’T LIKE THE OPPORTUNIST??? HOW, WHY WHAT????????
*holds palm up to Ela*
*sighs and looks at nails of other hand, bored*
You trust Maryse with your bracelet?
R…the second book, Dirty Red, is from Leah’s POV, and I didn’t want to read it at first but found myself absolutely GLOATING over all of her inner turmoil. Thief is from Caleb’s POV, and I really liked it but I would have preferred it in Olivia’s POV. 😉
Why do I see Amy on GR as not have read Dirty With Lies????
Good point Tessa! Would you do the honors?
*calls a temporary cease-fire with Ela*
It’s probably not on there because I read it on my Nook, and I haven’t updated my GR with the books I read on my Nook. I’ll try to do that soon.
“Dirty With Lies”
*pats Ela on the head*
It’s okay honey…we knew what you meant. 😛
https://giphy.com/gifs/arts-sP5iY2f8Hkcx2
Dirty vs Love in this series can almost be the same thing…. *shrugs shoulders*
HA!!
*jumps up and down and pints at Maryse*
Told you guys!!
Oh for the love of…
*POINTS at Maryse
I think a radar went off by Maryse’s ear saying *they’re discussing shinieeeeeees* better check in and grab what I can.
No bracelet to see…I forgot that I forgot to wear it today….runs and hides
See I don’t even remember any of those characters. That’s not necessary, right? Sorry, Ela. I mean sorry, not sorry. Dangit. I’m getting confused. Are we sorry or not sorry? Which answer is least likely to get more recs? Oops too late.
OK Ela, I added them, but I don’t want to reread The Opportunist so you might have to give me a refresher before I start the red head one.
My husband just walked in with 6 more classic rock albums, a new turn table, and a bottle of Bordeaux. Guess I’m done for the day. Try not to hurt anyone Ela. Amy…duck.
Duck? From what? *points at Ela* You mean Child’s Play over there? Aw, she’s harmless. 😛
*giggle*I’m just sit over here and drink…
Me too Grey. Want some Bordeaux?
I’m gonna stick with water. I am on the kid carting detail tonight, however, throwing my 2 cents in, the third book in the LMWL series, The Thief by Tarryn Fisher was on my top books of 2015 list R… so yeah, just something to keep in mind, I FLoved it…hard! LOL!
The Thief was my favorite too Grey! I love a male POV!
I loved The Opportunist series…they were the first T Fishers Id read. I love that her books have a barb in their tail and make me feel uncomfortable. I LOOOVED reading Leahs book and watching her unravel.
Never read Bree’s Novella. I DID read twilight from Edward’s POV. That was only online. Loved that. So embarrassing.
I want to read Inarticulate next. I’m a Speech Patholgist & have several clients who have selective mutism. Very difficult to live with. Imagine not talking, only when comfortable, which is rarely for some. I hope it’s done well. Usually books with “my area” get me all upset because they play on stereotypes. Like H who stutters. Ugh! Or the H who has Aspergers. Some good ones stand out though. Keeping fingers crossed!
Tessa in the middle of all of that, you sure you want to give Maryse your bracelet. –lol.
I haven’t read them either, but like Jean says the MCS smell.
Ok…one of the bottles my hubby got me sucks. I waited too long and there’s no bordeaux where I live. So…rum and coke. Want one Amy?
R. You have a record player. I’ve seen that they have had a bit of a resurgence.
What albums?
Runs actually doesn’t sound appealing at all right now but…
Whatever.
*chugs rum and coke*
Thanks!! 😀
The Doors of course 🙂 and The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club, Sticky Fingers, Black Sabbath Paranoid and Pink Floyd Animals
Before I read everything, I have to squee really loudly. Kate Luaren’s Fallen trailer came out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZf5flba1cM
Amy, OMG. LMAO.
I don’t think they ever sound good. *Snicker*
Okay, I must point out, Maryse is a Valkyrie. She is naturally attracted to shinnies. I had to try to defend the bracelet!
*hugs MichelleS* I like you and then you point out stuff like that. 😀 Books rarely get those things right. I was in speech until high school due to hearing impairment, but little dude has autism, so… yeah. 😀
Tessa – so you know all those crazy letters after our name that we have to write? Well, the one dearest to me is CAS – Certified Autism Specialist. That’s my passion right there. For me, only a couple of books have gotten it right! One was The Rosie Project. 🙂 portrayed an Aspie spot on.
Oooh. Now you have me curious. I just finished last month Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I love how she portrayed one character who has Asperger or autism. The character is never diagnosed and most is shown or mentioned as dealing with him, but being around those with it, it was easy to spot. I absolutely loved it.
Pass me one of those rum and cokes R. I’m reviewing what I have to say at back to school night tomorrow. Fabi, was it wings you imagine when you have to talk in front of a lot of people? Going to give that a try. I love to run my mouth, but I do get nervous talking in front of all of the parents and staff.
Bev, booze is booze so…bottoms up. 😉
I’ve had a hard time drinking rum since an incident in high school where two friends and I drank an entire jug of it in one sitting. You know, one of those cheap plastic gallon jugs of rum? *shudder* I ended up shoving my finger in my friend’s eye socket when she tried to help me up after I puked on her bedroom floor…and all she said was “owwwwww” while my finger was still in there and she was drunkenly laughing. And y’all think I’m crazy now…
I just have to say that all of you mamas of special needs kids and people who work with them…you guys are amazing. 😀
And Tessa…that trailer! I had no idea they were still planning on making that movie. Hope it doesn’t go up in flames (yes, that pun was intentional :P) like City of Bones and Vampire Academy did. Oh yeah, and now the last Divergent movie. 😕
Best of luck Cheryl. You’ll do great.
Amy! Yuk, yuk and super yuk. Rum ‘was’ my favorite drink. Now…
Wait… what’s with all the rum gagging?
What’d I miss?
*backtracks*
Amy…..reread your comment to R.
O. M. G.
😯
OmgOmgOmgOmgOmg…how did I not…
BLECH!!! *gags* That’s so…*retches*
I’m done. I’m out. I just can’t…omg…
Well, could reach it as that having the runs doesn’t sound good to you but whatever you’ll deal with it by drinking. Drinking rum.
See? Reach = read.
MichelleS Im interested to know how much success you have in your speechie role for people with ASD? As Ive provably mentioned before my daughter has Autism and very limited verbal language. She is has echolalia tends to either just repeat exactly whats said to her or she memorizes passages from a song or movie and slots them as a response. Its very frustrating for her and has a big impact on her ability to socialize and develop friendships.
We use Auslan signing with her to supplement her speech and reduce her frustrations.
The book that best depicts what the experience of Autism is like for individuals and their families in The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night Time by Mark Haddon. And the Aussie movie The Black Balloon with Toni Colette is confronting and heartwrenching.
That trailer!!! LMAO AT AMY….
Oooh, that Fallen movie looks awesome…even though I never read the series. However, I just realized its in my Nook archives.
I too am very sensitive about books portraying autism & such as my 16 yr old son has Aspergers. God bless all of you that work with kids with special needs, that is one tough profession.
HAHAHAHA Amy! Ewww. Funny story…I opened the WRONG bottle of wine! No wonder it was gross. On the bright side, I have a GOOD bottle waiting for me! But, maybe not at 7 am. Ugh Cheryl, good luck. I HATE public speaking.
Yes! High praises to all you ladies working with special needs kids and adults! There was an awesome article written to Tesco by a client on FB, I was crying by the end of it! If there were more people like that woman the world would be a better place! Not sure this link will work…

Good Luck Cheryl.

-Land of the Beautiful Dead by R l. Lee Smith
Still reading this one and will be for a while yet. I like it but not as much as Gann. It is however nice not to feel that the heroine is in mortal danger every other page.
You’ll do great Cheryl! Just picture holding a whip and if anyone gets out of line you whip ’em on the St. Andrews Cross… 🙂

Good luck Cheryl! Speaking to groups makes me nervous as well…even more so when I know the people. No idea why. *shrugs*
You’re a smart, competent nurse…make that group of people your b!tch. 😉

Interborough by Santino Hassell
I got an ARC. I’m beyond squeeeing. This is Christmas and birthday and Thanksgiving all rolled up into one happy girl. I’ll take this over a bag of jewels any day.
😀 That’s awesome, Fabi! Congratulations.
Good luck Cheryl. No worries, you know you’ll kill it.
Leslie you have to get Fallen out of your Nook archive and read it! It’s seriously good and the intrigue and emotions just are insane.

“Beck, you’d better get in here. ”
For the Love of English by A.M Hargrove
OMG I am loving this so much. It has me giggling like crazy, especially with the first graders and English is absolutely adorable. The adult times are hilarious too, though can get intense and serious too.
That’s awesome Fabi!!
FLT: “I’d be lying if I said I don’t notice him enter the restaurant.” Night Shifts Black by Alyson Santos, recommended by Jean! LOVE the writing. reminds me a little of Taylor Jenkins Reid!! Not the words or plot, but the sentences 🙂
Tessa…I was thinking of reading that one next.
Tessa that sounds really good! Keep us updated! And Amy! You definitely have to keep me updated on Mordacious!
I started The Silent Waters by Brittainy Cherry. Loved the first 2 books of the series…..each are standalones. FLT: “It’s going to be different this time, Maggie, I swear. This time is forever.” (This was the Prologue…..it was too hard to use the first line of chapter one because it’s a letter) Love this author!
You totally should. Someone else recommended it on another post. (Sorry to whomever. I can’t find it). I had it so moved it up in my TBR. I’m so glad I did. The anxious part is happening right now, and it’s good.
Jean, I love the cover of The Silent Waters. Sexy wet T-shirt!! Yes, please!!
That’s a sexy but not OTT, bulge, crotch grabbing, obnoxious cover.
Haha! Yes Leslie! This author’s writing is so amazing. Each book in the series is so unique and unforgettable!
Lisa – having worked with children on the spectrum from ages three to adult, I’ve had the most success once they enter middle school years believe it or not. Even kiddos that were very echolalic started using scripted conversation starters and were able to participate in exchanges with their peers. especially those that are hyperlexic.
I have also found, Lisa, that PODD is the very BEST augmentative comnunucation system.
Why do I go to the library? I can’t even keep up with the books in my nook & kindle libraries. Now I have The Girl on the Train, Orphan X, Saving Francesca, and The Passage stacked on my night stand.
Because the library smells SO GOOD bev. Ooooh read The Girl on the Train!!! 😀
Francesca’s the name of my h 🙂
OMG I just now watched This is Us and I’m Taylor Jenkins Reid crying right now. Did anyone else watch this last night? Or whenever it was on?
I haven’t watched it yet but I want to SO BAD. How do I watch it? Is it on Netflix? The only actual channel I’m ever on for cable is HGTV and the Cooking channel. I’m so clueless to the regular TV world.
*sigh*
You can watch it online, or it’s probably available through smart TV or something. Here’s the link: https://www.nbc.com/this-is-us?nbc=1 it’s NBC.
OMG Maryse, so good. I was a HUGE Parenthood fan and it totally has that feel!
Amy spelled rum “runs”… Her rum, not so bueno.
Ewwwwwww!!!! LOL!!!!!
Yeah, New rule. No rum martinis allowed to be made my Amy. 😛
Alright, last song you listened to?
Ol’ 55 by Tom Waits.
I listen to yours If you listen to mine.;)
Oooh bev, that sounds kinky!
“To Cry You a Song” Jethro Tull.
Thank you Michelle. I think we need to re-visit speech therapy. It kinda got pushed aside when we were trying to deal with big behavior issues, sleep issues, eating issues blah blah blah. We’ve probably got space now to do more work around her language. Cheers for the advice xx
Yes Bev. I loved Saving Francesca. Enjoy.
R. I don’t think I have ever really listened to Jethro Tull before. 🙂
Last song I listened to was by “Flume” – Never be like You.
WHOA. This is intense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KPnyf8vwXI
It’s one of the songs “Alexa” played for me when I told her to just play me “top dance pop”
Oh I love Tom Waits!! Good choice Bev.
Last song I listened to Vera Blue ‘Hold’. Love it.
We love Flume in our house great Aussie producer!!. I saw him (Harley Streton) live when he was just starting out as a precocious youngster.
Those were both new to me. In the last few years I so have not been keeping up with new music.
So, Maryse could you just ask her like, Alexa play the number one hit in France in 1974? And she’d do it?
Jan, did you go on your trip yet?
OMG Alexa is amazing…but potentially possessed. Mine talks to me when she shouldn’t, when I’m not talking to her. But, I figure at least someone’s talking to me right? Even if it’s some demonic inhabited piece of plastic. Whoa. That was deep. Going back to my book.
I’m going to forget that “demonic” part. Especially since mine likes to talk at 3am…
YIKES. How will I sleep tonight? Thanks a lot R!! 😛
Hey, would she pick your next read?
OMG yours does it too??!! OK that’s a little creepy! I was reading out loud one day and she answered me! I said something about “resting against the chair’s back” and she said “the chair doesn’t have a back.” What??!!
Tessa, my patronus is a fox. That seems wrong to me, lol.
Wait, patronus? How do I get a patronus?
Last song I heard was viva la Vida by Coldplay. Little dude listens to music in the morning after he’s ready and he chose that one. 🙂 My influence, yep!
I got a buzzard.
LOL.
I hope she give descriptions
What house are you?
Whew, I survived another year of talking at BTS night!!!
R. I watched This Is Us- I was crying, laughing and stunned at the twist at the end. Hope the rest of the series is as good!!
Slytherin! 😀 I’m always Slytherin. Even before the movies, it was my favorite house. Oh, thankfully Buzzard means the English word, not American one. It’s a predatory animal, like a hawk. lol Not a vulcher.
Cheryl, yeah! *grins*
Ravenclaw. I was sure I’d be a hufflepuff
The first time I was sure I’d be Ravenclaw. lol
Lol. I did it when pottermore first happened, but forgot what I was. I never went back on, lol. And today it said that if you have on old log in to just redo. So, maybe I was a H then *shrug* and changed. Not sure.
Both the old sites and the new one made me Slytherin. *shrugs* I guess I’m more ambitious than smart?
