MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!! :D!!!!! My happy wish for all of us, is that today is filled with big bear hugs, and lots of laughter and friends and family, and warm memories. I’m already feeling warm and fuzzy now that my sister is here, and I have a big day planned!
But, I couldn’t leave for the day without celebrating the Tuesday new releases! Of course, today’s list is super-short and sweet (and loaded in Christmas short stories) but a few of them sound perfect for mini-breaks or a bedtime story. Like that one up there to the left. Oh I wanna read it!!!
P.S. A few fun things:
- HUGE KINDLE UNLIMITED MEMBERSHIP DEAL <— OMG!!! I just found out that Amazon extended this super-bargain membership (<— 3 months for a super-steal)!!! Did you miss it the last time? Now’s your chance. JUMP ON IT!!! !!!!

- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

- Bird Box: A Novel by Josh Malerman <— IT’S ON SALE!!!!!! *SQUEEEEEE!!!!* I loved this one a few years ago in book form, and I just watched it on Netflix this weekend and I loved that one too!!!! Creepy, scary, SUPER-STRESSFUL and awesome. Just plain… awesome!!! P.S. Here’s my book review!! 😀
Tasha: I almost started Bird Box last night. But, I resisted and finished watching Bodyguard. And then I almost clicked it today! I think Bird Box might have to be my next read. I’m weak, I’ll watch the movie first and spoil the book!
Maryse: Tasha you must read Bird Box!!! Totally worth it… and the movie is great too!! But that ending is worth not spoiling.
Tasha: Thanks Maryse! I’ll try to read Bird Box ASAP
Jean: Yeah, i totally recommend reading Bird Box before watching the movie! Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!! Will be running around for the next couple days! Love you all!
- Untouchable: A Bully Romance by Sam Mariano <— BULLY ROMANCE ALERT!! Laura recommends it!!
Laura: The new release, Untouchable by Sam Mariano, is a deliciously dark bully romance. Easily my top read of 2018! The book begins with a sexual assault in a classroom so be warned and this theme of non-consent carries through most of the book.
The main character, Carter, is aware that he is a genuinely bad guy but doesn’t care. Zoey’s boundaries don’t mean anything to him. The storyline will keep you hooked until the very last chapter when you find out how much Zoey means to Carter.
Highly recommended.
- Look the Part by Jewel E. Ann <— JEWEL E. ANN ALERT!! Jean is LOVING IT TOO!!!
Jean: I probably should have waited to make my list…..I am reading Look the Part by Jewel E. Ann and LOVING IT!!!!! So great!! I think it was on someone else’s “Favorites” list…..Jan maybe??

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MARYSE AND ALL MY WONDERFUL BOOK BUDDIES!!!! <3 I am so behind in posts and comments and hopefully can find the time to catch up today. Love you all!!!
Merry Christmas!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL! DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE…UBER IT
Merry Christmas!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! All my love to all my friends here, and I hope you all have an awesome day!
Merry Christmas everyone! And bravo to you Maryse, for still making this list on Christmas Day, we can always count on you! *hugs* One-clicked Bird Box and will be clicking through January preorders soon- starting with Wicked King! 😀
Merry Christmas all my book buddies!! Have a happy day with family and friends and furbabies.
Merry Christmas y’all from Texas!
Haven’t submitted my best of list because I’m reading Verity as we speak, so… just in case…
Merry Christmas everyone!
Aaaaah! *sigh of relief* Things are winding down. Time to relax.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. 🙂
Just took the dog for a walk and it is way too warm. Hope some of you had appropriate Christmas weather.
It’s 18 degrees here. Brrrrr
I have had an amazing day (friends and family and food and gifts and laughter)… and now my cold is now officially kicking my butt.
Time for night time cold meds and hope to sleep through this. 😉
Get plenty of rest and hope you feel better soon.
It’s 10:45 pm & im still in a T-shirt… it’s pretty warm here in Texas.
Somebody help me. I’m officially losing it. I specifically bought Bird Box because it was written in first person, present tense. Then tonight in one of my FB groups, someone mentioned it being in first person, present tense and it reminded me that I need to read it. I just opened it and it’s in third person! I KNOW I checked when I bought it because I wouldn’t have otherwise. Did anyone else read this that remembers?
OK don’t mind me. I think I just saw the present tense and assumed. 🙄
My dog keeps stealing the blankets and pushing me off the bed. Doesn’t make for a great nights sleep. Though I think she may be trying to cuddle….its just she’s 60 pounds.
R, are you reading Birdbox? Tempted to watch the movie and see how it portrays the setup of the book.
Ooooh I like the movie intro to Bird Box better than the book-intro, actually. It’s INSANE and chaotic and intense and stressful and SO SCARY!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE how they did that.
My dogs try and push me off too, but they’re too small. 😉 But they poke their tiny paws into my back and try.
Maryse did my favorites list pop up?
I love when I like both the book and adaptation. To All the Boys I’ve loved before was such a good adaptation though I liked the book a bit more.
I need to finish my coffee and go take the bed hog for a walk.
bev!! Yes I have it!! 🙂 Thank you so much. That one is next.
Lol! Bed hog!!!
Bev, did u see they’re making TATBILB #2?!
I’m reading Bird Box next.
I’m glad it sent. I never trust it, lol.
Birdbox was good but dark. Might want something light to chase it down with.
I saw that they are doing the sequel. Also, the actress cut her hair and it is so chic. Love a good bob.
I love Jennifer’s Best of List.
This is when being an accountant stinks. I want to take time off and stay home and read. But it’s yearend….so I get to reconcile inventory and other fun accounting stuff instead….boo! I’m sure enjoying The Hating Game though. I’m almost finished with it’s been quite enjoyable!
R., I read The Bird Box a year or so ago. I really thought I remembered it as being first person…hmmm…I guess I was wrong. That’s so odd.
IDK if I’m going to read Bird Box. I have to really love an author to enjoy 3rd person and it messes me up when I’m writing. I may listen to it on audio if my hold ever comes through.
So, what your saying is you need to read To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
I dk how bad your cold is, Maryse, but I’m still in the constant congestion and runny nose phase. Which is crap Bc my daughter had only 24 hrs of this nonsense. I’m over here on day 4. :-/ Makes for miserable nighttime.
Leslie, how are you doing?
Merry belated Christmas everyone! I had a busy day yesterday (total good busy!) so I’m a little late. I didn’t even stop to think. Sam Mariano? Bully? *one clicks* So many goodies coming out next week, especially Amelia Hutchins! *squees*
That said, little dude got an MP3 player (he looks up videos he shouldn’t on the computer, so no phone!). OMG, he loves it. I figure new songs each month and he’ll be in heaven. 🙂
I sent my best of 2018 list to you, Maryse. I hope you got it. I used the email I have had in my email for years…. so hopefully it hasn’t changed?
MichelleS I’m looking forward to yours. I feel like you didnt really keep us up on what you were reading this year.
Merry Boxing Day??? LOL. gah, yesterday was a ZOO here! I hope all of you had the Merriest of Christmases! xoxox!
Maryse, thank you, thank you, thank you! You are the best! We all are so grateful for all of your hard work and the hours you put in here for us to have a place to call home. *tosses all of the magical thank you glitter* (it’s like regular glitter, but extra sparkly)
So, there’s a new bully book up there that I spy… Tessa. *pokes Tessa* did you see that???
Just posted new challenge stuff on the goodreads group, in case anyone is interested.
I’m so excited for all our new challenges! Thanks for all the time and hard work you’ve put into them, Grey!
I second Nay’s comment above! Thanks Grey for organizing us!! Looking forward to the new challenges!
Me three! I’m excited to be jumping back in this year!
Thanks to Maryse for always being the hostess with the most-ess. 🙂
Thanks to Grey for being the glitter tossing challenge organizer. 😉
Tasha, my cold is awful. I’ve been sick for almost a week. Luckily the sore throat and hacking cough only lasted two days. But my head is miserable. Even my ears feel clogged.
Uggghhh!! I’m sorry you’re so miserable too. Doesn’t give me much hope over here. Although I don’t have the sore throat or cough. I’ll take my endless snot over all that crap. 🙁
Merry Christmas to all!
This year was a quiet day which was kind of nice and not as stressful. Just immediate family and we all cut down on present giving and just spent time together cooking a meal and being with each other.
I want to thank Maryse for being one of the best parts of my day. Well all of you are too, but you wouldn’t be without Maryse. Isn’t it strange how I feel I can talk to and tell you all just about anything. I don’t know where you live or your phone numbers but I know what books you love, what stresses you, your health problems, worries about your kids, sometimes more things than I know about a friend I see everyday. Don’t let me forget the nail polish, eyelashes, martinis and pot roast recipes. Thanks for being a good part of my life.
I am getting all weepy over here. I am a rather emotional person, my husband says too emotional but when I feel, I feel-that being said I ditto everyone’s remarks and espcially JulieO’s post. You guys are truly my rock right now and so glad I have a place to call home…. to laugh, cry, and escape in the awesome books we find. love to all xoxo
I also want to say that I am not much for a paranormal read….but I like to read one here and there. I had a book on my TBR that I would always look at and dismiss…..Than awesome Grey with her TBR challenge for Ugly book cover happened and I chose that because well the cover is awful. BUT HOLY HELL GUYS-if you have not read “to have it all” by BN Toler you need to. I actually started this last week but did not read beyond the first chapter. Picked it back up yesterday and just started from the beginning and completed it in less than 24 hours. I went to bed thinking about it, woke up thinking about it and even though I was at work could not focus on that till I finished. I may have picked this book for it’s UGLY cover (and by the way the cover is PERFECT as once you read the story it makes so much sense) but there is nothing UGLY about this story. Definitely 5 stars for me!
FLT:
“Mom doesn’t show up.”
~Starfish” by Akemi Dawn Bowman –
Jean – im going for it! Ugly cover and all… it’s KU & you gave it 5 stars. Yay me

FLT: ““Theo Decker: Reluctant Rock Star.” That was the headline that accompanied the cover of Groove magazine that came out today, and it was the reason I was hiding in my dressing room from the rest of the band.” Riven, by Roan Parrish.
Is it weird that a m/m has me all flustered? I find myself skipping over sex scenes usually, but I’m reading every word of this one. I’m a gay man trapped in a woman’s body? Ha! Or maybe I’m just a straight woman & TWO men are just double the sexiness? Whatever… this book is working for me.
MichelleS I haven’t read that one but I read the second one in the series just recently. Somehow I always end up with the second books, lol. But it was pretty good.
Bev – I saw the second one mentioned here, so I figured I better go in order. I’m a series person… don’t want to miss out on any little details.
FLT:
Darian, come on.
Waiting for the Sun-Robin Hill.
I am officially marking this my last book of 2018! I told you I would read it R! you know the saying “saved the best for last” 🙂
oh and I loved your dedication-:-) had me *giggling* (cognac)
Thank you Jenn! I swear I get all giddy every time I see someone reading it! I wonder if that ever goes away. ♥
FLT: “Late that night–on our last night–we lay in awe, mesmerised again by the Perseid meteor showers as they transformed stardust into streamers of light.” The Promise of Stardust by Priscille Sibley.
July 24, 2016. The day Maryse likened TPOS to Taylor Jenkins Reid (my second favorite author) and Suanne Laqueur’s Fish Tales (my #1 favorite book).
December 26, 2018. The day idiot me finally picked it up. You’d think I would have learned my lesson after the big Serengeti Debacle of 2017, but sadly, no I did not.
Just finished Alessandra Torre’s Tripping An a Halo. It started out a bit funky story line, a bit slow, it did have a huge twist at the end.
Karina Halle’s Nothing Personal is live.
Yay!!! Thank you Theresa!! I’m posting it. 🙂
Oh R I hope and pray that never goes away for you; that has to be such an awesome feeling.
Hope you all had a great holiday! Just trying to catch up here!
I had the whole day to myself yesterday. So what did I do? Read a book! Dane’s Storm by Mia Sheridan……LOVED IT! Stranded after a plane crash with her ex-husband!!!
FLT: I hate First Friday. (Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard)
I don’t think it will. It still feels exactly the same as it did a year ago.

High schools and small towns have a lot in common.
Untouchable by Sam Mariano
GAH! This book! GAH! THIS is why the best of 2018 is waiting until the end. It’s so good and evil and OMG, I want to punch him and adore him and GAH! He reminds me of Mateo in all the bad and good ways.
I love seeing you excited over a book Tessa! And this one sounded like it was so you!!
I just saw that Raw: Rebirth (#3) by Belle Aurora is coming out in January! I’m excited!!!
FLT ~ High schools and small towns have a lot in common. ~ Untouchable by Sam Mariano. Woohoo!! *tosses glitter*
FLT: This is the last outfit I would ever choose to wear, but it’s not my choice to make.
from The Fortunate Ones by R.S Grey. I just finished it actually. It’s good.
I’m catching up on all the RS Grey books I haven’t read, now I’ve joined kindle unlimited with my bargain subscription. I’ve more than got my money’s worth already LOL.
The Fortunate Ones is IMO one of her better books. Good meaty characters (oops, that sounds weird LOL) OK, good, interesting characters. Good storyline. It’s a bit angsty for me but I still liked it. Worth checking out if you haven’t read it. Especially if you’ve got ku 🙂
Michelle S. I’m going to try the sample of Riven. Looks pretty good.
FLT:
I set the half-full limoncello martini—it’s as close to honey and lemon water as I’m going to get right now— on the table, and nab the waiter as he passes.
Shacking Up by Helena Hunting
*hugs JulieO* I feel the same way!
MichelleS, I swear sometimes the m/m ARE hotter than the m/f ones. 😉
Grey! OMG Mind mess jerk, right? If you like this, I’d recommend her mob stories.
Tessa, I literally have just opened it and read the first couple of paragraphs. I was working on goodreads stuff for the challenges and getting my 2018 list ready. Just tucking into bed to read now!!
FLT: “Just state my name?” Three Blind Dates by Meghan Quinn
R, you definitely have me intrigued with the comparison to TJR and SL’s Fish Tales!! I’m gonna have to move that one up my TBR!!
Jenn, you are absolutely going to be in love with Waiting for the Sun!
Jan, I’m also reading/listening to The Fortunate Ones also…enjoying it so far.
Michele, that was Maryse’s comparison. I’m not in far enough yet to know. I’m trying to slow down so my BR partner can catch up.
Lol. Tessa isn’t it fun to find something that gets us that worked up and happy?
YESSSS! I finished it because I couldn’t stop reading it. HOT (seriously hot) but more than that, he’s such a jerk and everything that happens with the angst… my type of book. I want more of their story, even if it was a standalone. 🙂
Belated merry Christmas to everyone!! That means to our “vocal” blog buddies and all of you who opt to remain quiet. 😉 I have an ALMOST empty house as of today, and I’m looking forward to catching up on all of the 2018 favorites lists as well as finally making mine!
But first and most importantly…*HUGE HUGS* to Jenn! I don’t know what’s happening in your life right now, but I’m glad to be part of a place that provides some distraction for you. You are a valued part of this group, and I’m so glad you’re here.
*sprays Lysol in surrounding area* Sickos!!! Literally. And said with all love and affection.
Oh, R…A Promise of Stardust was such a good read. As y’all know, I don’t connect well with male-only POV books, but that one worked for me as much as one of those could. I knew it was either going to end up sad or straight up heart wrenching, and not knowing which it was going to be kept me glued to it.

“I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths, attempting to regain my composure.” ~ IF by Randi Cooley Wilson
Oh, and I finished The Ribs and Thigh Bones of Desire. Not terribly impressed with it. The writing style was great for me but there was no romance, too many victims (main and secondary characters alike), and too much which left me scratching my head and wondering what purpose those things had in the story. *shrugs* What’re ya gonna do, right?
Amy I heard the same thing from Jennifer on my Facebook page. She said it was just depressing… *sigh* SO much potential by that blurb and cover…
Tessa
I’m looking at the Sam Mariano books and it looks like there are a couple of series going on. I love mob books. Where do I start?
Want to take advantage of kindle unlimited that I just signed up for. Your help is always appreciated.
Love this cover of Fancy. I haven’t listened to that song in forever. Especially the audience singing along and then the cut to Lin Manuel Miranda’s expression at the end.
https://www.vulture.com/2018/12/kelly-clarkson-crushed-fancy-at-the-kennedy-center-honors.html
MicheleG-Yes I am loving it-25% in. I do not think I have ever met a character like Frankie-just love her!
Amy-thank you xoxo
Bev-OMG yes it is the best. My mother called me last night and said stop what your doing go on youtube and watch this. So glad I did and I absolutely loved Adam Lambert’s rendition of Cher’s Believe which was the other one my mom told me to watch.
*Saying this in both posts* Julie O – For Sam Mariano’s mob books, start with Accidental Witness. It’s the first of the series. It’s the only “high school” one, but it sets the tone for the whole series.
A little late. Finally caught up on posts. I did read the first chapter of Untouchable. WOW. And not a good wow. I’m not sure how he could redeem himself or whether he even will and overall how I feel about this book right now. Thinking about it. For now…
FLT:
“Worst. Birthday. Ever.” Only Love by Melanie Harlow. Slow start, we’ll see.
Also, talk about slow. I read Luna and the Lie and it was one of the slowest burns I have ever read. No real sexy times until almost the end. I did love the story and couldn’t wait to see what the “lie” was and where the different “events” in the story ended up.
Now to work on my best of 2018 list! 😉
