in Latest Book Releases

Nay: I’m 11% in on Wild Like the Wind and I’m already LOVing it! Hound’s great, but when a Chaos book starts out with a decent dose of Tack Allen, I’m ALL in!

But that’s not the only one that has me squeeing. In fact, I’ve one-clicked quite a few, and I have no idea what I’m going to start next, but here are the ones that make me extra excited:

MY MINI BLURB JOLT LIST: Wild Like the Wind (Kristen Ashley’s latest biker book!), My Oxford Year (recent release that’s on super-sale and I keep hearing how AMAZING this book is – teacher-student and will rip my heart out? Yup, I one-clicked!), Sunshine and the Stalker (recent release that Tessa found for us and that I totally missed last month. It sounds creepy and forbiddeny – K. Webster, so you get an idea – and well… I’m intrigued!), Ravensong (T.J. KLUNE’S LATEST in his werewolf series that had SO MANY going crazy a year or so ago!!!), Roughing the Kicker (SHE is in the NFL!!!!! And she’s got to deal with the guy that broke her heart… AND!! Don’t forget to check out her guest post today ➔ Eden Butler’s Top 5 Swoony Books To Read Over and Over), I Am Grey (gave me a total blurb jolt… I can’t quite get a handle on this synopsis but I know I want to read this badly) and one from yesterday’s list: Butterface (she isn’t considered pretty but she’s getting attention from a sexy cop that she has a crush on)…

P.S. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out my latest review (and yesterday’s earlybirds!!):

LET’S READ!!!! :D !!!!

P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order)

  • My Oxford Year: A Novel by Julia Whelan <— OMG!!!! RECENT RELEASE IS SUPER-BARGAIN PRICED & it sounds SO GOOD!! I one clicked it!!!

Amy: My Oxford Year (teacher-student drama!)… is on sale… Oh, you KNOW My Oxford Year was an immediate click for me. I had seen buzz for it before it was released, but the price made me a bit hesitant. But as soon as I saw it was on sale…CLICK!  :D

Cheryl: My Oxford Year scares me; to be compared to Jo Jo Moyes and Nicholas Sparks and a “heartbreaking story.” Think I’ll wait for someone else to guinea pig it and let me know. *whispers I think it’s one of “those” books*

Maryse: That just makes me want to read it more.

Michele: This book was a 5 star fave for me!! It is one of “those” books but I thought it was done very well! So worth reading!!

  • Playboy by Katy Evans <— KATY EVANS LATEST RELEASE & Lisa M HAS FEEDBACK for us!!
Lisa M: I finished Playboy by Katy Evans yesterday. Could not put it down. I freaking love her writing style. Hooks me every book!!
Kandace: I am blaming you all for my lack of sleep. I fell down the rabbit hole of the Mafia and his Angel. I’m half way through book 3. When I first started I wasn’t sure but the more I kept reading the more consumed I became with their story. My kids are camping with my parents. I was suppose to organize the house while they were gone instead my wrist hurts from holding my kindle for endless hours and I haven’t cleaned anything. My husband keeps giving me *SIDE EYES*. I may have to lock myself in the bathroom so I can finish without his glaring looks at me. *sigh*. Thanks for the rec, girls!
  • Sunshine and the Stalker by Dani René and K. Webster <— K. WEBSTER STALKER ALERT!!!! Tessa found one that she’s unsure she wants to read so who wants to guinea pig this one? I think it’ll be me. ;) :P

Tessa: Alright, I found a blurb that sounded so me I really wanted to read it. A really awkward woman and a stalker guy. Except, he’s in his 40s and she’s 18. WHYYYYYY? Needless to say, I stopped after only two chapters when I found out their age. However, it did come recommended so if anyone is not like me with issues, then try it out. Erm, so the book had an actual title. *blushes* Sunshine and the Stalker by Dani René and K. Webster.

Amy: Tessa…I don’t have those type of issues and even *I* don’t think I could read that one. A barely-legal teenager and a grown-a$$ man stalking her? *shakes head*

Maryse: For me it’s not the age so much that worries me, since I love crazy stalker-books (and we know stalkers have no “reasoning” and are crazy-scary, so it would be fair to assume in this case too). I’m tempted because I love reading and exploring “how they tick” … and the scary stuff that comes with it.

  • If I Wake by Nikki Moyes <— TEAR-JERKER ALERT!! Tessa LOVED it!
Tessa: Oh, FYI to anyone who likes emotional YA with time travel-ish. I finished my TBR challenge If I Wake by Nikki Moyes last night and OMG, it’s everything I’m usually looking for in a book. Its concept was different and unique, my heart ACHED a lot, and it all felt real. Seriously, though, there were major tears at one point. Big heads up on that.

So many shinies! I’ll try and not read through the retreat… Robin, you’ve been warned…

Nay July 31, 2018 at 7:01 AM

Good morning! Wow! There are some awesome looking books on the list that are making me clickety-click! I’m definitely reading My Oxford Year and the K. Webster one asap.

I’m 11% in on Wild Like the Wind and I’m already LOVing it! Hound’s great, but when a Chaos book starts out with a decent dose of Tack Allen, I’m ALL in!

Leslie M July 31, 2018 at 7:17 AM

I just finished my July PFM book and it was most major cliffy ever!!! I am in shock. Can’t say too much ’cause spoilers but totally giving Paula stink eye (for picking it) AND Nay (for not warning me).

Its book 2 in The Illusion series by D. KELLY.

*crawls in blankie fort to process my feelings*

Leslie M July 31, 2018 at 7:18 AM

*pouts and wishes I was going to retreat*

Nay July 31, 2018 at 7:35 AM

Sorry, Leslie!

I’m really surprised these books didn’t cause more of an uproar. Of course, I will say that when I was loving it and telling you how much I loved it (when I sent you my OMG!!!!!!! message), I had NO idea what was going to happen. Still, I should have remembered to tell you after I found out what the cliffy led to. I’m a baaaad reading buddy–Sorry, sorry, sorry!!!!!!

Leslie M July 31, 2018 at 7:50 AM

Unexpected twists in romances almost always end up a book fail for me. :(

Grey July 31, 2018 at 8:22 AM

What the what? That book title up there… Aca- ‘scuse me… *I* am Grey. Hmph. *throws glitter and stomps to the blankie fort*

Nay July 31, 2018 at 8:26 AM

OMG, I was reading through the list, looking for what Grey was talking about, and saw ‘she isn’t considered pretty’ and thought the title said ‘Buttface’! lol

Ela July 31, 2018 at 8:57 AM

Leslie, what’s the book? Oh wait, I’ll go on GR.

Ela July 31, 2018 at 8:58 AM

Wasn’t there supposed to be another few PNR’s coming out today???? Asking for myself.

Nay July 31, 2018 at 9:02 AM

I already messaged you about them, Ela.

Grey July 31, 2018 at 9:21 AM

And *this* is how rumors get started… Maryyyyyse, Nay called me a butt face!

Maryse July 31, 2018 at 9:24 AM

*snort* :P

bev July 31, 2018 at 9:53 AM

Have you guys heard of ASMR? I just did a few weeks ago.

“Autonomous sensory meridian response is an experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine.”

It’s suppose to help people relax and fall asleep. I guess it really popular right now.

Of course I found out through kpop because it’s popular for idols to make videos.

This one cracks me up. Aren’t these supposed to be the sounds that annoy us when someone does it in your ear?

Ok, try it. Put on head phones maybe close eyes and see if it relaxes you or not…..especially with this video choice.

MichelleS July 31, 2018 at 10:07 AM

OMG OMG OMG …. Ravensong is out finally! Mine mine mine. And a new Chaos novel? Mine! What a great book day.

MichelleS July 31, 2018 at 10:09 AM

“Decent dose of Tack Allen”.,., oh Lordy, what a Tease! Fanning self…

bev July 31, 2018 at 10:40 AM

I always have the urge to one click KA. Seriously, want to start reading right now. BUT. I feel like just reading the blurb I know how this book will play out. Then I just start skimming or dnf.

Tasha J July 31, 2018 at 12:05 PM

I haven’t read since All Your Perfects, no time. I did just watch Laggies on Netflix- good movie! And I was skimming to see what else is new (or not new, I don’t watch much), but I saw Meteor Garden and thought of you, Bev. Have you seen it?

Tessa July 31, 2018 at 1:21 PM

Bev, I found out about ASMR about a year ago from my sister-in-law. She was seeing who it affected. Some people aren’t and some are, and some are more affected than others. It can be relaxing or arousing, depending on the person. *shrugs* My brother and I are both affected. She and my niece weren’t. lol It creeped my niece out.

I had I am Grey on my KU to get as soon as it comes out since it was announced. I get everything by Jane Washington. She usually does PNR, but the blurb… I’m honestly not sure what type of book it is.

Tessa July 31, 2018 at 1:28 PM

So… tomorrow we announce the best of July and I have to start figuring that out now. I have 8 in my Best of Best. The most EVER. I’ve had months of one or none, and some of two or three… but 8? I was SOOOO lucky this month! :)

Robyn July 31, 2018 at 1:39 PM

Hi everyone!

**throws a huge glitter bomb!** It’s Christmas in July!! So many beauties that came out over the last few days!

Ravensong! I fell in love at Wolfsong. This is gonna rock!

Wild Like the Wind- I can’t wait to dig into the Chaos world again. Love me some Tack Allen.

A Wolf Apart by Maria Vale- I loved the first book. The story was told in a way not usual for a wolf book. It was more real.

I am Grey- this sounds like something happened to the h and she was in a hospital or some sort to recover. She gets out and meets the H, who may be her doctor? Idk, maybe I’m projecting to much, but I’m going to read it and find out!

Roughing the Kicker- a woman kicker in the NFL? How fun is that, plus the quarterback is after you? This could be a fun romp! And naughty cuz it’s Eden Butler!

Kate Stewart’s Someone Else’s Ocean- this sounds like an angsty tearjerker. Have to save that for when I’m in that mood.

Robyn is going to be one busy and happy girl for the next few weeks! Yay!

bev July 31, 2018 at 2:23 PM

Tasha, I haven’t but I want to. I don’t have Netflix….though I guess I could look in other places for it. It is a new Chinese remake of Boys Over Flowers. I have watched that (the Korean one) I marathoner it. Could. Not. Stop. It’s kinda crazy and rambling And tons of plot holes. And not really that good. I’m not sure I liked it. Lol. But want to try the remakes which there are a few of. Lol.

Tessa that is interesting. Most haven’t had too much of an effect. I like some of the taps and scratches.
Oh now it’s making me think of Stan with the rain and pencil. Ha. Not the most relaxing of songs.

So I watched this like 50 second clip of Taemin (kpop) making up a dance as a song plays which led me to listening to the song (Scottish singer) this am. I love that Korea lead me to Scotland. Especially since im so slow with picking up popular songs. Watch the dance he is beautiful and I wish I could just turn on a song and dance like that.

I should of stuck to my tbr. I tried that Wake up Call book. I liked the premise. The start was good but …. By like the second call they are having phone sex and feeling all the feels for each other and then by like 50% it felt like the main conflict was absolved so …..DNF. Back to my 2 book the.

And that is my ramble for the day.

R. Renee July 31, 2018 at 2:38 PM

Ela, it’s a book lover’s retreat. Read away!

I WANT RAVENSONG!! But *I* don’t have time to read at the retreat! :-/

Nay July 31, 2018 at 3:49 PM

I need to read Wolfsong. I think I’ll plan to read it next.

bev July 31, 2018 at 5:05 PM

Do you make blanket forts?

Jackie July 31, 2018 at 5:51 PM

Bummer-it looks like I missed out on My Oxford Year. I do a lot of audio books and Julia Whelen is one of my favorite narrators. I may have to hear some feedback and just to the audio routes-I sure she does a great narration of her own book.

Donna July 31, 2018 at 9:57 PM

*waves akwardly*
It appears that I really must read Wolfsong…

R. Renee July 31, 2018 at 10:04 PM

Yes Donna! All the yesses!

Jan August 1, 2018 at 4:59 AM

Yes Nay and Donna. You do need to read Wolfsong!

Like everyone else I’m excited about Ravensong and also the new Kristen Ashley book. *throws glitter, balloons and streamers* Yaayyy!

And now Robyn I can see I’m gonna hafta check out the Maria Vale wolf books too.

I’m still reading and liking Binding 13. Can’t get My Oxford Year in Australia yet, but I’m adding it to the list!

Melinda August 1, 2018 at 6:24 AM

I’m reading atm Miss February book 2 by Karen Cimms. It really good.

Tummy twisting good. Book 1 ok, but this is good. Recommended by Paula.

But I didn’t like Wolfsong, read halfway and gave up. Just wasn’t for me.
Hides in Bevs blanky forte from the peanuts.

But the first thing I did, was look at the book about Grey. Thinking it was a joke.
Then one clicked it. Why not?

Melinda August 1, 2018 at 6:25 AM

Sorry it’s Mrs February.

Tessa August 1, 2018 at 9:55 AM

Alright, everyone! Best of July time.

I was torn. But this one stood out amongst the 8.

The Morning Star by Debra Dunbar was the end of The Imp series, but it ended so perfectly, and I actually cried because the series is over. Yes, I loved it that much. It probably had the most heart of the whole series and there were some truly touching moments in the midst of all the drama and action. The end was probably the best of the series.

The other seven were:
If I Wake by Nicki Moyes
The Peer and the Puppet by BB Reid
Strength by Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington
Shiver by Suzanne Wright
Survival of the Richest by Skye Warren (Seriously, everything this woman writes is a mind messery book)
Claiming the Dragon King by Amelia Hutchins
Black Crown (The Darkest Drae) by Raye Wagner
Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews

See! Lucky month. If I get even half that this month, I’ll still be lucky. (Though I totally expect Magic Triumphs to be one. It’s the end of the Kate Daniels series).

Tessa August 1, 2018 at 9:56 AM

hrm… apparently 9 and I can’t count? *shrugs*

R. Renee August 1, 2018 at 10:18 AM

I did a re-read of RUSH so that’s a given! As far as new (to me) books, Waking Olivia by Elizabeth O’Roark.

Leslie M August 1, 2018 at 10:44 AM

Tessa, isn’t it awful when a series you love so much comes to an end? I cried so hard at the end of Addicted/Calloway Sisters series because it was over AND I felt like I had been through so much with the characters. *wipes away tear*

Tessa August 1, 2018 at 12:25 PM

Exactly. It’s the tenth book and it just hurt to know that I couldn’t be in their heads anymore. She’s gonna write a few “in their world” books but it isn’t the same as the central characters. I might end up that devastated after Magic Breaks for the same reason. I don’t want the series to ever end.

Tessa August 1, 2018 at 12:29 PM

I DNF’d I Am Grey. *sighs* I LOVE her other books, but this just didn’t work for me. I have read all her other books, but this one was just boring. :( Oh well.

Grey August 1, 2018 at 1:37 PM

Wanna know why, Tessa? *whispers* it’s because.. *I* am Grey… And I am not a butt face, no matter what Nay says about me. Hmph, *tosses glitter* *spins on heel* *grabs Godiva and runs to the blankie fort*

Leslie M August 1, 2018 at 2:30 PM

I am Grey makes me think of Groot from Marvel movies “I am Groot”. Hee hee

Tessa August 1, 2018 at 3:27 PM

And you aren’t boring, Grey!

July fave for me was All Your Perfects by CoHo. But I also loved Rainy Day Friends by Jill Shalvis and Bountiful by Sarina Bowen.

Ok, I’ve never heard of these books before. Sounds kind of…um..odd, lol.

But then I was thinking of how odd some books sound until you read them and accept that world.

Has anyone read these?

Bev, I thought you were responding to my post and I was giving you a big DUH! Of course you know CoHo, Jill Shalvis & Sarina Bowen. Whoops!

Anyway, I have never heard of any of those. *shrugs*

OK best of July time. My fav out of the new books was Simple Faith by Susan Fanetti. I liked it but only gave it three and a half to four stars. Didn’t read any new 4 or 5 stars this month :(

If we’re counting rereads, I did a few. Best one was a traditional HR – Arabella by Georgette Heyer. Also enjoyed rereading Nia Forrester’s The Fall.

Good morning!! I’m back to work for our summer program and acting as chauffeur for my daughter’s Forensics program. Need to catch up on comments. Started Roughing the Kicker. The premise reminds me of another book I read where the h was a college football kicker. Can’t think of the name right now…

Leslie wouldn’t that be funny if I hadn’t? Like if I just hung out here but had never read any of the books, lol.

FLT: I sigh into the welcoming silence, grateful for the chance to escape—even if only momentarily—from the mindsuck of meaningless conversations on the other side of the door. (Driven by K. Bromberg)

Can’t believe I waited so long to read this one. It’s like our old school books! Loving it!

That made me laugh Nay.

How is it? It is really hard for me not to click on it.

Nay August 2, 2018 at 2:18 PM

Jean–I remember loving Driven and Colton so much back when I had finished a bunch of KA and was jonesing for more alphas. This reminds me that I still need to read 6 books in that series.

Ha ha Nay. Made me laugh too. I’m reading mixed reviews and feel a bit nervous :/ but I will read it and decide for myself. Just haven’t gotten to it yet.

I’m still reading the mighty Binding 13. Still liking it, but just been busy and not as much time to read. I think I did that FLT last week LOL.

It’s Thursday, so obviously I’m totally late to the Tuesday release fun. No reason, just…life. *shrug*

I was debating reading (and even “cracked” open) Someone Else’s Ocean, but I think my mood right now is more suited to My Oxford Year. When I read SEO, I want to give it the best shot without my mood messing it up, ya know? Sooooo…

“Next!” ~ My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan

Not as giggle-inducing as Nay’s or as 8-O as Tessa’s, but there it is. ;)

Okay ladies, my verdict on Ghosted:

Wait for it to go on sale.

Is it great and worth the price? *I* don’t think so. Is it good and worth buying at a lower price? Most definitely.

Nay August 2, 2018 at 8:43 PM

I was wondering what everyone was laughing at–duh!

And I just saw your question, bev. It’s great so far. I just haven’t had time to read, so I’m still at 50%. I’ll give an update about what I think when I finish.
