“…Being a well known jock-blocker gets her noticed for all the wrong reasons; just like that, she’s banned from Jock Row. NO GUY WANTS A GIRL AROUND WHO KEEPS THEIR JOCK FRIENDS FROM GETTING LAID.
“Rowdy” Wade is the hot shot short-stop for the universities baseball team—and the unlucky bastard who drew the short straw: keep little Miss Goody Two-Shoes out of the Baseball House.
But week-after-week Scarlett returns, determined to get inside…”

My latest review is up (forbidden romance!!!!) ➔ Book Review – Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
Ashley: I LOVED this book! In fact it put me in kind of a slump where nothing else is living up to it right now. I love forbidden romance and Penelope Douglas does it so well. And yes, there were some great quotes in it!

- Our Unscripted Story by L.A. Fiore <— SUPER-ANGSTY!! Linda loved it!
Linda: Last night finished reading Our Unscripted Story by L.A. Fiore. Highly recommend!!! Loved it extremely hard!!! Went through so many emotions. Has anyone else read it?
Cheryl: Just finished Our Unscripted Story. I forget who said the blurb sounds great and it’s only .99 cents, but you were so right! I loved it. The story followed the MC’s who met as teens. There was such angst wondering if they would end up together and along with that I also had such foreboding that something really bad was going to happen. I think it was the cover that started that thought. I was really hoping it wasn’t going to be one of “those” books. You know the one’s Amy and Maryse love. I’m back and forth between 4.5-5 stars. Couple things were a bit of a stretch for me.
- Electric Tunnel series by Rachel Blaufeld <— RACHEL BLAUFELD ALERT!! Nancy found us this bargain deal!!!
Nancy: ALL 3 BOOKS in the ELECTRIC TUNNEL SERIES are now reduced: ELECTRIFIED (Book 1) SMOLDERED (Book 2) TINGED (Book 3) BY Rachel Blaufeld
Michelle: I did love Electrified and the wedding excerpt just made me happy sigh!
- Dark Matter: A Novel by Blake Crouch <— SCI-FI THRILLER that I LOVED & now Jean is loving it too!
Jean: I’m reading Dark Matter!!! So. So good!!! An oldie but Kooloo picked it for me this month. I dove right in yesterday and am almost done!!!
Maryse: Jean I LOVED Dark Matter!!!! All confusing and exciting!!
- Six Feet Under (Mad Love Duet Book 1) by Whitney Barbetti <— Recent release & we have feedback!!!
Karen: Six Feet Under by Whitney Barbetti is amazing. It’s dark and beautiful, and gives an incredible insight to addiction and mental illness, all wrapped in a stunning tale of unconditional love. I am chomping at the bit for part two. This book is my favorite read of 2018.
- The Transcend Duet by Jewel E. Ann <— And this duet is STILL making 5-STAR waves!!!

Good morning and happy May!!
Ooooh….all these single dad stories sound so good!
Perfect Love Story
Bittersweet
Back in the Game
Then that cover for Colton!
Hey Maryse, did I tell you I am reading Disorderly Conduct by Tessa Bailey? It’s a fun one and I like it so far despite the cringe worthy cover. 😉
OMG LESLIE!!!!
*thud*
YAY!!!!! I KNOW IT. Right? Right!!! Tee hee. You just made my day. You and your picky-self. 😉
So much book crack up there!!! Time to do some one clicking and my part to keep the economy going!!! Happy May Day, all!!!
Good morning everyone!! My coffee was extra strong today so I feel ready to take on the world!!! 😀
First of May kicks off with a bang, Lisa. That’s for sure!
I think The Girl Who Digs Graves sounds intriguing to me today. And this one released today too- It’s already got a movie coming w/Kerry Washington https://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Mother-Novel-Aimee-Molloy-ebook/dp/B0727TNBG9/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525178521&sr=8-1&keywords=the+perfect+mother. I’m gonna try it and see if it gives me all the drama I loved w/Big Little Lies. Different authors and story lines, but I like mommy drama with a thriller like appeal.
Oh I KNOW it Tasha!! That one (Digs Graves) made me feel like hitting my old paranormal/urban fantasy stride again.
Now oh I’m going to look up Perfect Mother and add it. 😀
Yes! I’m going to read both samples today. 😀 It’s 82 degrees today, the warmest it’s been yet this year and I should be esstatic, but yesterday was 67 and I felt like the heat shrank my lungs and made it hard to breath with that heat alone. And I told these kids we’d go outside today. Looks like it’ll be soon, before I melt. Lol, I also had hubby bring me a large iced vanilla latte (decaf) to set my day and he comes with a medium…Bc they’re outta larges. I asked why they didn’t give me 2 then and he laughed! I feel like this is not a good start to my day.
Dramatic? That’s me this mornin’!
Oh, AND! I’m not huge on board/card games. But, my daughter is and my son is at the age where he wants to get in on the action. So I read an article that listed her kids age differences about the same as mine and what worked for them and Sleeping Queens was at the top. I’d never heard of it, but thought it’d be a good activity for when baby’s here and the others need my attention. And we played last night and I love it! It was a rough start, but I think it may become a favorite!
Question for you skincare gurus…have any of you ever used one of those sonic cleansing brushes? I’m wondering if it’s worth investing in. Not one that costs me 100 +, but if it really makes a difference from just using your fingers. My skin has started to break out again, hormones are AWESOME, and the first few weeks after baby are always more rough than usual. Plus, I now get little tiny blackheads on my nose more often. Blackheads were never something I had to worry about before and they’re gross. So, I’m looking for a long term solution.
Tasha, funny about the board/card games as my son just got into Scrabble and wants me to play it all the time. I don’t mind as at least its time away from electronics. Oh and I think our blog baby got ripped off with only a medium latte today! 😉
That will be interesting to see Kerry Washington in a different role from Scandal.
Speaking of Scandal…Bev, if you thought characters changed in first few seasons, you wouldn’t like direction show went aftet that. Olivia & Cyrus both went OTT evil. Nay, I was disappointed in finale because I absolutely hate when shows end “unfinished”. I don’t need a HEA for ever character, but I do need closure after 7 freaking seasons. It was frustrating that certain characters we were left hanging. *grumbles*
Leslie, did you see she’s doing this as well? https://deadline.com/2018/03/hulu-series-order-little-fires-everywhere-reese-witherspoon-kerry-washington-1202336463/ I just read this one, and had my Mom read it a while ago and she loved it!
Oooh and guess what! I know some of you, or 1 of you watched 13 Reasons Why and they just announced season 2 releases May 18! My due date!! Guess who will be binging this on my insomnia nights?! 😛
Pop Culture Happy Hour has a discussion of Scandal for one of their podcast.
You know I liked badass Olivia….at first. But, idk, it just ran off the rails.
Tasha, I had one years ago. I was a lot more lax and didn’t use it consistently. Also, I had to use the most gentle brush head or it was too much for my face. It stopped working but curious if I used it now.
Oh, and I got Scrabble Jr. recently too. Have not ever played it, but you’ve reminded me I should!
Someone needs to watch My Ahjussi. It’s preempted this week.
And I’m seriously out of sorts. It’s like if your in the middle of a great chapter and someone still your book.
It’s to give the cast a rest. I guess many dramas film as they air. So only one or two eps are done before the air date. Makes for long shoots to keep up.
Omg Bev, you should hear me cuss when they are constantly pre-empting my soap!!! SERIOUSLY! Unless the world is coming to a screeching halt, do NOT interrupt my show!!!!
A Bill Belichick press conference?? Who cares?
Tasha, face brushes are great, but you really shouldn’t spend too much on them. You can get the auto ones rather cheap, but I use just a regular face brush, no electricity, and it does the job. Mine is gentle because I noticed the harsher ones actually don’t work as well. They just hurt.
Best thing, though, is to make sure your soap isn’t for your pre-pregnancy face. It probably has tons of oils. I have to use clean and clear because I have abnormally oily skin, especially for my age, but probably any no oil added soap should work for you. And use toner. That strips the dirt like crazy.
I am looking at Bro Code. I love the best friend and little sister trope. 😀
So, use something like Clean and Clear after pregnancy? I didn’t know they made non automatic face scrubbers. Everything I use is gentle, always. I’m using Olay gentle cleansing now.
Tasha, to keep blackheads at bay I use charcoal products, either exfoliating scrubs or masks. I tend to mix it up with the type of product at any given time. Exfoliation is a MUST as we get older. I also use Clinique Dramtically Different moisturizer because it is hydrating but not heavy or greasy.
Tasha–two of my sons started getting a lot of blackheads in their mid to late teens, and they’ve both had really good luck with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser. My 21-year-old started using it 4 or 5 years ago when he was breaking out badly, especially on his back, and then he had the blackheads on top of that on his face. After a couple of months, he was pretty much cleared up, but he’s continued to use it for maintenance, just not nearly as often. It smells really good too. They both use it in the shower with either a washcloth or a buff puff, but for a woman’s skin, one of those cleansing brushes would probably be great. When I was growing up, there was a clear acrylic one that several of my friends used. Maybe by Clinique?? Amazon has various different brands of them.
Bro Code is looking good to me too!!
Clean and clear is gentle and Olay is filled with oils. Any sensitive skin type soap will work as long as there isn’t a ton of oils in it. Like Amy said, charcoal stuff is good too. And use it while you are having the blackhead issues. Just getting rid of oily soap should help a lot.
And yep. My face scrubber cost me about five dollars. lol It is just the brush and you just move it over your face in a circular pattern. 😀
I just finished Kandace’s rec, Ride by Harper Dallas, and I second it! Great debut! You know I’m not a fan of naked torso covers, but aside from that, this one is a bit misleading. It’s about a broody mega-star broken snowboarder, not a hoodie-wearing vampire biker…
AHHH!!! I hope you read RISING! I think you’ll love it! xo
For the love of all cuteness…how adorable is this??
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077JFK5YH/ref=ods_gw_ha_br_prop_042718_v1?pf_rd_p=804768e3-e7df-4943-ad2d-41556c2df5c6&pf_rd_r=D92PCP1HJFJTMM0SS6WW
Ooh, that kid geared crap gets me every time! Must…resist! Maybe xmas? Lol, very cute.
Thank you all for your advice and suggestions! I don’t go to the store much anymore, like a cpl times a year, but when I do the skincare section stresses me out SO bad! It’s overwhelming, all these products out now. Amy, I should look into Clinique again, I used that skincare routine as a teen and liked it then. One of the millions I’ve tried. They’re probably a lot newer now. I’ve done Clean and Clear once upon a time and Neutrogena too, but not the pink grapefruit. I suppose I’ll test a couple and see what happens.
I just have to say- I have an elderly neighbor who is obsessive compulsive with his outside work. Who knows what goes on inside, but outside he’s in the gutters multiple times a year, probably mows twice a week, whips out the leaf blower @ the sign of ANYTHING in his driveway/sidewalk, trims his bushes religiously (they don’t even have to be bad), and in the winter with that snowblower (for just a dusting). He’ll even jump to his neighbors to the side to help, whether they want it or not, I dk. Anyway, it usually makes me giggle. But today he’s revving that weed wacker like a nut and my windows are open, the kids are trying to watch a movie, it’s naptime, and steam is coming out my ears! It’s a very quiet neighborhood mostly. *sigh*
Don’t strip your face of pile.
No!!
I did this for years . Very oily and acne prone. Do not. Repeat do not.
Makes your face produce more oil and more sensitive as it destroys your moisture barrier.
See and I want to tell you to use an oil. To double clean. Oil cleanser first then a gentle cleanser.
https://www.snowwhiteandtheasianpear.com/2014/08/skincare-discovery-cleansing-part-i.html?m=1
Oh, and there is the stridex bha pads. People love them for blackheads. Not for blackheads but used for acne and large pores in my 20s, then was hard to find. Can be harsh but if not stripping with other cleaners. I’m trying Corsx bha a couple times a week but jury is still out.
That article made my head spin, Bev. Too much info. Sounds like too much work too. I’m too lazy for all that. Lol
I’ve just settled down some to read and have read the prologue of The Perfect Mother. I’m thinking maybe now is not the time to be reading stuff like this, lol. But, I’ll at least finish the sample.
R.Renee, I loved Ride by Harper Dallas and I just finished reading a new author for me Gianna Darling’s MC series. loved it too. I think I’m going to read Rising next. Saving Court of Frost and Starlight for another day. Took me 3 tries but I finally got into Birthday Girl and finished. It was pretty good.
Oh yes!! I’m buying it. It’s totally giving me that BLL feel I’ve been craving!
Can only do what fits into your life and makes you feel good. 🙂
😉 Thank you though! I have read some things about oil cleansing in the past, but I hate to do things that are too new. And all the products out there!! I like to keep things as low maintenance as possible. Which is probably part of the reason my skin sucks. There are so many things I’d rather do with my time than work on myself.
My skin routine is so simple… same all the time (and two of the products I learned from Ipsy):
Wash face every night: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040ZG3MK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )even if I have makeup… it ALL comes off)
Face scrub a couple of times a week: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Z4OD24/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Face cream every night: https://www.amazon.com/Olay-Effects-Anti-Aging-Moisturizer-Fragrance-Free/dp/B0000536P4/ref=pd_yo_rr_rp_t_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NCXF28773KZGBKJE3KY8
Eye cream (I use Kiehl’s – Rosa Arctica Eye Cream) but I have been using this new one for the last month, that was on an Amazon lightening deal and I like it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N37TWSS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That’s it for me. No toners, no masks (unless I feel like doing a spa night and I have some freebie masks from Ipsy)…
I need girl advice too! My ears hurt so bad when I wear pierced earrings. Have tried all metals & styles. I’m thinking about clip ons. Never wore them. Do they hurt even more? Less?
Still reading Jack & Jill book two. Love her characters & writing. Duh. She wrote Transcend & Epoch.
You know what Tasha? I mentioned BHA and I don’t know if you can use that while pregnant? Though that may be at high levels.
You never know what is going to work for one person and not the other. Oil cleaning may break you out. I’m using a product with fermentation in it and I think it is what is keeping me clear. But I like to read the AB Reddit threads occasionally and some on there say fermentation breaks them out. If I’d read that I probably would not of bought it, lol.
Cinque , years and years ago, broke me out bad.
Did anybody ever use Noxzema? Omg. I used to love the smell but no way that was doing my face any good. It would be so tight afterwards. ……and all the oil and pimples, lol. I wonder if they still make it?
MichelleS. I don’t like clip-on because I’m sensitive to nickel so it keeps burning unless I get either silver, gold or stainless steel and that silver and gold have to be sterling or 14k, or it still hurts. At those prices, I might as well get the earrings. Can you wear rings with any type of metals? Also, are you sure your ears haven’t closed over at some point?
Nickel doesn’t work well for me either anymore. I had an issue as a child, and now an issue again. *sigh* Surgical steel and high content gold… good.
My Grandma used to wear clip one to special events. I have extremely sensitive ears. Or anything that I’ve pierced actually has had to be done multiple times due to infection or growing closed or whatever. My regular hole in my ears was done a total of 6 times before it stuck. And I eventually grew tired of the pain with them (all metals for me too) about 5 years ago or so and decided to just stop wearing them all together. Goes with my no maintenance vibe. Lol
I can’t personally attest to clip ons bc I’ve never tried them, but google says they do. Maybe not more than pierced, but that they can hurt too. And that there are diff. kinds and there are maybe ways to make them more comfortable. Here are just a couple articles I read- https://www.sweetandspark.com/blogs/vintage-fashion-jewelry-blog/120585153-the-vintage-clip-on-earring-myth
https://www.allvintagedup.com/how-to-wear-clip-on-earrings-without-your-ears-hurting/
There is a CR out this month called Grumpy Fake Boyfriend. I need to read that.
I love reading routines. If I pay with links it will kick me into moderation. But I will do it as I wait for my noodles to cook. So if interested look look down.
It is still a work in progress.
Am:
Rinse with water or Sandawha aqua Natural Mild Cleansing Gel.
I find this cleanser on own leaves my skin tight so I want to try this one next.
https://www.amazon.com/Innisfree-Blueberry-Rebalancing-Cleanser-100ml/dp/B019IHFR62/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1525227103&sr=8-1&keywords=innisfree+blueberry+rebalancing+5.5+cleanser
One Love Organics Vit C serum
A couple layers of https://www.amazon.com/KLAIRS-Preparation-moisturizer-without-paraben/dp/B00PGOFYG0/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1525227305&sr=1-4&keywords=dear+klairs
Which might be a HG for me. It really pumps up the lines between my eyebrows, lol.
But I want to try the Sandawha Lipsome Skin Softner.
Then https://www.amazon.com/MAKEP-Defense-Moisture-Whamisa-MAKEPREM/dp/B074JVHCL1/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1525227430&sr=1-1&keywords=make+prem
But it is too moisturizing for my skin. And only the sunscreen the link shows other products.
PM:
Sandawha camellia Cleansing oil
Sandawha aqua Natural Mild Cleansing Gel
Klairs toner
Swanicoco Black Yeast Fermentation Luminous Ampoule
If this is keeping me clear HG for sure.
Then either
https://www.amazon.com/KLAIRS-Midnight-Calming-calming-1-01ounce/dp/B01GR1O1NC/ref=sr_1_8_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1525228211&sr=1-8&keywords=dear+klairs
Or

Not sure about these two but definitely do not irritate my skin at all.
A couple nights a week I use this kit
https://www.amazon.com/HERBIVORE-True-Blue-Skin-Clarifying/dp/B076BS95VP/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1525228422&sr=1-4&keywords=blue+tansy+mask
Or

Now I should say I don’t buy them from Amazon, just the toner. I’ve had it for months big bottle and goes a long way.
But I like deals. And SAMPLES. I love samples. So, most I bought at sale prices. Like 20 or more off. And the Herbivore is a deluxe sample kit.
Not that I have to justify, but slowly bought these since ….December, I believe. One or two a month.
For all you list-lovers, here is my May lineup. 😉

I’m too lazy for a skin routine. I inherited my mom’s good skin, so I’ve been lucky. Knock on wood. I have never ever used soap on my face. That’s my routine. Sad.
I’m reading
Disturbing his Peace by Tessa Bailey
Trespassing by Brandi Reeds
I am watching you by Teresa Driscoll
Yep! Time for a couple of psych-thrillers. 😉
Oh and add on Keep Her Safe by K.A. Tucker!!! 😀

Dramabeans
Royal Order of Satorial Splendour

Devils Unto Dust
No Limits……finish it.
Someday, Somewhere
Hydraulic Level 5
I can do this.
*giggle* wanna know my facial routine?
Get comfy…
Are you sure???
…
Nothing.
Nope, I’m serious. I don’t do anything. Plain water in the shower. I pluck my own eyebrows… I really only wear eyeliner, a shimmery shadow and sometimes a dash of mascara… And ChapStick, always. I have to wear 14k gold earrings, very sensitive to metals. My wedding rings are white gold. OK, I think I’m caught up now…
You and MichelleS are lucky.
My skin sucks, lol.
*death-glares at those who don’t have to invest time in their skin*
Seriously though, you’re fortunate. I’m totally jealous, but you’re fortunate. 😉
Lucky, lucky ducks!
Thanks for your links ladies, I shall take all these into consideration when I’m not tired. Lol. I’ve had serious insomnia the past couple days and it’s catching up to me.
I’m reading- the lunch menu for my order today
The old navy website for my order today
Maryse’s book blog
I will read – when I’m less distracted Bc I was REALLY into it last night- The Perfect Mother
* I feel like nesting, but my energy has tricked me and the heat is suffocating me.
Tasha, I’ve been up since 1:51am. I’m exhausted and a zombie again. Insomnia is an ass!!!!
I *need* to invest time in my skin, but my ritual is pretty close to Grey’s. Assuming water actually makes it down my face in the shower.
My favorite time with my girlfriends is when we do a spa evening. Themed drinks (I supply the martinis, of course *giggle*), manis, pedis, masks, facials, waxing…all in our PJs. SO fun!
What I’m reading:
The End of Our Story
What I will read this month (at LEAST):
Road-Tripped
Current
Fragile Lies
Ten Below Zero
Shark Bait
My list is:
Dark Queen by Faith Hunter
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
Into The Darkness by KF Breene
Bad Boy Brody by Tijan
(Stopping whatever I’m reading on the seventh is for Atheist Who Kneel and Pray by Tarryn Fisher)
(Also whatever date is At This Moment by Karen Cimms)
Blood Beyond Darkness by Stacey Marie Brown
Pandora’s Box by Gracen Miller
Best Book of April time!
Mine was between three books. Well, two were a series so I count it as one. However, the series stood out. Secondborn and Traitor Born by Amy Bartol just blew me away. It was so high in angst, GAH. I loved it.
It beat out Psychic Spell by Ella Summers and Sleeping with Monsters by Amelia Hutchins. 😀 I’m still waiting on book three though. It’s not a complete series yet.
Mine was Hydraulic Level Five/Skygods. YOU came in second.
My favorite for April was Transcend/Epoch! 😀
My April favorite is the same as Amy’s. 😀 Book-twins!!!!
Oh my, Maryse!! Thankfully, mine is just baby induced. I had to use lavender oil a couple times to finally get to sleep. And I was SO tired too, but up until after 1 till I fell asleep. And a couple (2 or 3 bathroom trips) after till 6:30. Lots of tossing and turning, which is a process, and up @ 7.
On the topic of skin care, my all-time favorite Ipsy find (which I now buy regularly) is Peter Lamas exfoliating pumpkin facial scrub. I use it every other day (normal cleansing in between), and it doesn’t smell like pumpkin for those of you pumpkin dislikers. 😉 My skin always feels AMAZING after I use it and then moisturize.
BUT! For those of us who love true Fall scents in the Fall and Winter, Feel has Renewed pumpkin walnut facial cleanser which works beautifully and smells like a pumpkin spice drink. I buy it in bulk during the Fall/Winter seasons.
OH! Also, I am obsessed with Sunday Riley CEO Rapid Flash Brightening Serum. I got it in an Allure box and use it daily before putting on my makeup. It feels heavy at first (almost tacky) but then absorbs to where it feels like nothing at all except incredibly soft skin. The sample actually came in a glass bottle (heh, I’m easily impressed), and it was SO worth the price when I bought the full-size version.
I love Allure boxes. Not long ago I got a box with an actual Morphe blending brush, a Diorshow sample mascara, Oribe texture lotion, sample-size Philosophy facial cleanser, and an almost-full-size Becca Champagne Pop pressed highlighter…SCORE!! I’m having so much fun with Ipsy and Allure that I might just splurge and subscribe to FabFitFun and Stitchfix, LOL!
Michelle S – Put Neosporin on front and back of ears and on the earring post before putting the earring on. This worked for me so maybe it will work for you.
It is currently 908 degrees (77) in this house. At what point do you throw in the towel and turn on the AC??
I know a lot of people love the Sunday Riley products. Yeah, the deluxe samples from herbivore came in glass….love that.
I treated myself to 2 boxes last month, well bought them last month will receive them this month. A little present to myself.
My favorite is Transcend….i think only one I read.
So same as Maryse and Amy!
I am your daughter.
LOL bev!!!!!! 😛
Amy!! We’re parents! 😀
My fave April read was Sugar Bowl series by Sawyer Bennett. 4.5 stars
I typically don’t like romantic suspense, but this was exciting and hard to put down.
Tasha, you just turn on the AC when you are too hot, especially when pregnant. Anyone gives you issues, just snarl and that should stop them.
April fave – a total surprise. You’d think Transcend & Epoch duo, right right? Well, when I look at my Kindle, the one book that stands out is A Boy and his Ribbon. Yup. Who knew? Story is still staying with me.
What I’m reading right now: Jack & Jill series book three. I’m hooked. Book two gutted me.
What I plan to read:
No clue.
Probably something by Jewel E. Ann, since I’m binge reading her books.
What I’m looking for – fantasy, Fae, Sarah J Maas feels.
MichelleS I LOVE surprises!!! This is GREAT to know as I love Pepper Winters too.
I’m going to try the neosporin. Thanks for that advice.
Well, I’m trying to be reasonable too. I like to save money and wait as long as possible when seasons change before heat or ac gets turned on. I’ve reasoned that it could rain tonight, so I can’t leave the windows open. I turned it on 10 min ago and called my husband at work to ask how long till it gets cooler. I just stare waiting for the thermostat to change at least 1 #. Nothings happened yet. It’s nearly 80 @ 7pm and there’s no fan in here. *wipes tear*
Maryse, have you tried diffusing oils at night for your insomnia? I’m terrible at keeping up w/it, but so many ppl I know swear by it.
Tasha… you know what? Lemme do the lavender diffuser right now. I have one and the oils, but no, I never do… (except during the day and I always choose orange or peppermint)
My husband turned on the AC… I’m currently wearing a hoodie and sweatpants. WTF. I shaved for this. SMH.
Hey, Moms.
Can I borrow 10 dollars?
*sneaks $10 to bev and whispers go read Epoch*
🙂
Go to Amy’s and you could wax for it.
*gasp* We ARE parents! Our sweet little love child…
*slides a ten over to bev*
*wipes tear from eye*
They grow up so fast.
And she loved Transcend. She is her mothers’ child.
ROFL!!!
That’s hilarious!
I’m going to clean up.
🙂
Tasha, crank it up and pour a nice tall glass of whatever you like with lots of ice.
I do have one of those facial brushes. The Mia by Clairsonic. Got it as a Christmas gift after esthetician at Dermatologist office recommended it.
My skincare routine is: Obagi cleanser, toner Vitamin C serum, and sunscreen in am, along with Nugenisis eye cream. Bedtime: Cleanser, Toner, Obagi Blender (Hydroquinone) mixed with Renova (Tretinoin cream), Nugenisis Age Defying serum, eye cream.
Love the lists!
Kind of on a quest right now for what to read but…
I’m reading (just started):
Ride by Harper Dallas because of the rave reviews above.
and currently rereading:
Road-Tripped just for fun in small bits because I love it that much. (Which I know I made evident repeatedly here, sorry…)
Just finished…
Disturbing His Peace
Looking forward to your review Maryse!
MichelleS, I loved the Jack and Jill series I read a couple years ago. Total rollercoaster of emotions. So funny at times and then the total opposite. Have you read Scarlet Stone by Jewel E Ann? That’s on my kindle too but haven’t read yet. I’m sure it’s great too.
Just finished The Real. Liked it, but it got a little “wordy” toward the end for me. Not my favorite Kate Stewart book.
April fav: Transcend/Epoch.
May (probable reads):
Six Feet Under Duet( when 2nd book is released)
Jock Row- looks like all the books by that author are now KU
Back In The Game
Birthday Girl
Buzzworthy
Ride- after reading R. Renee’s comment
My fav new reads of April were a Mercy Thompson book, Night Broken (OK, new for me. I’m trying to catch up on this series LOL). Also a new Susan Fanetti post-apocalypse read called Aurora Terminus. It was GOOD! Plus PART 1 of the new Lauren Gilley Lean Dogs book, Prodigal Son. I want MORE!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!
I also did quite a few rereads of old favs, including the beautiful HR, Slightly Dangerous, and the Lean Dogs classic, Tastes Like Candy. Gotta love that Candyman!
My reading plans for May include:
Silence Broken (more Mercy Thompson :D)
Mists of the Serengeti – been on my tbr fo eva
I’m sposed to read Drive for my PFM challenge but I’m a bit nervous about it :/
Also waiting on a new release out later this month, First Time at Firelight Falls by Julie Anne Long. I discovered this author recently and she’s good! In this one the H is a 6 foot something smoldery-eyed bass-voiced former navy SEAL, now an elementary school principal in a little town. Catnip! Ha ha. I just looked at the blurb again and it says he’s ‘usually knee-deep in fawning PTA moms, but only has eyes for the fiery, funny, skittish redhead who barely knows he’s alive’.
I’ve pre-ordered 😀
Tasha, what bev said. Stay cool, momma, and enjoy your reading 😀
Lauren Gilley has a new Lean Dog’s book? GASP!!! Must. Go. Visit. Amazon. Stat. Love love love her writing. Did you read her new PNR? Soooooo good.
I read the first Jack and Jill book and loved it but had to read a new release right after and never went back to the 2nd one. I’m moving it up on my list because I want to be gutted!!
And speaking of…I’m going to check out this Secondborn series, even if it is YA. If they’re angsty enough, sometimes I end up loving them more than some of the corny NAs out there.
Robyn–did you finish Execution? I’m halfway through, and that one scene at about 43% knocked my socks off!!!
It’s hard to pick my favorite for April (a great problem to have) because Random & Rare (Lock & Key, #2) by Cat Porter was soooo good, yet it was completely different from the Transcend/Epoch duet, which I also loved. So I guess I’m going to have to say they were both (all) my favorites for different reasons. I definitely plan to go back to the Lock & Key series and read the rest of those. They’re GREAT biker books.
Michelle how did you miss that one???? It’s Charlie Fox’s story, but only part 1 🙁 Really good, though!!
I haven’t read the new Gilley pnr, yet, but it’s on the tbr. I’m Mercying at the moment for my pnr fix.
Must try the lock and key books too………
OMG! Just finished Execution by Lucia Franco. I don’t know what to do with myself over these books! I was like, he did NOT just do that! But, then I was like, YES, yes he should do that…most definitely. Then I hated him again for doing that. GAH! My morals and ethics tell me I’m totally against this underage forbidden thing going on. But, then I’m like what if…..whah! I’m all over the place. Lucia please put me out of my misery and release book 3, which happens to be named Release! This a complete trainwreck and I really need to know what happens next! Don’t you have any pull on this Maryse?!
Robyn… you guys are making me too excited about this series!!! Okay I’m gonna go research. 😉
Hopefully it helped! I decided to fire mine up last night too w/lavender & cedarwood. I smelled it when I started and it was heavenly, but I’m always congested right now so couldn’t even breath through my nose. I did lavender rollerball on my legs right before I crashed too and it worked! I was up more for bathroom breaks cuz I drank more yesterday, but I feel much more rested.
Happy THROWBACK Thursday!!!!!

Check out the cool inventions you can buy on Amazon NOW — MINE!
https://youtu.be/9Q0M0_CK_Fk
You know what else they have? Lavender spray that you spray on your pillow and sheets. They sold it at Bath & Body Works. My SIL worked there and the customers swore it helped.
Cheryl what does the Tretinoin do?
Robyn–I couldn’t have said it better myself! Kova with all his Russian hotness is one of the sexiest, most brooding, yet confident heroes I’ve ever encountered–and I’m crazy about him!! But I’m the same with with all the forbiddeny stuff. Gah! And with that…
FLT:
“Kova was a heartless, cunning man.”
Execution (Off Balance, #2) by Lucia Franco
I love this shirt, lol.
https://bookriot.com/2018/04/26/book-fetish-volume-303/
One last. I love these small rings….but my fingers are way too chubby.
https://www.catbirdnyc.com/collections/anatomy-of-a-stack.html
Instead of a t shirt maybe we should make a group ring, lol.
FLT: “It’s our birthday, Kit,” Ryker says softly through the phone. Crystal Blanton, The Calm Within
Checking out another debut! Gorgeous cover!
Totally stunned by the ending of Dark Queen by Faith Hunter! I finished the book and immediately had to scour the Internet to find out if this was the last book in the series. Faith Hunter blew up the world she’s spent years creating.
I’m currently reading several… I’m not sure how that happens. It doesn’t usually. I’m gonna go for the one, I’m *really* reading. Even though I backtracked to book 3 for a quick refresher.
And actually, it’s not even the first line… But…
FLT: ~ To the readers who look up at the stars and wish… ~ A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
This is the dedication at the beginning of the book. *Cue my trek to the blankie fort with Manny, Godiva and Pink Moscato*
“Jake! Where the hell are you? We should’ve been out on the water by now!” ~ Current by Abby McCarthy
I got Henry from The Time Travelers Wife.
https://bookriot.com/2018/05/01/bookish-boyfriend-quiz/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Kissing%20Books&utm_term=BookRiot_KissingBooks
Oh yeah…FLT. *snort*
Nick from Crazy Rich Asians. Never heard of it.
Sorry, they are now mine. I finished the Jane Yellowrock book and I am all teary eyed. PEOPLE DIED! One will probably hit me later, because man. That end almost kept me in denial. Then, the way it ended… She never does CH, but that sucker was pretty much a CH. After I balled and then that ending which means you don’t know, and still gah. The ones who did die made me sad, but one who did, GAH!!!!!!!!! *cries a little more*
FLT:
I didn’t know how long I had been in the King’s prison.
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
I got Mr. Darcy. Wanna trade bev?
I got Henry from The Time Travelers Wife too. 🙂
I also got Nick from Crazy Rich Asians
No clue.
New FLT because I realized I needed happy after that last book:
Slapping our slap shots was my favorite part of practice.
Slapped into Love by Rochelle Paige
Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights…
I made stir fry tonight w/your “medallions” Maryse! 😉 It’s the 2nd time I’ve made them now. The 1st time I’ve ever done chicken breasts in the deep fryer, I threw them in there whole on 350 or 375 and it took forever. Such a waste of time and pain in the butt. I was ready to give up, till you told me your recipe, so thank you! 😀
*beams at Tasha*
Oh I AM SO PLEASED!!!! I do this every Sunday to have some yummy chicken for the next few days to mix into my various foods. Makes life so easy!
I got that Nick one too.
I wanted Edward Cullen of course.
Grey, so your ideal guy is someone who is moody, abusive, and will basically leave you? Bummer.
Tessa, Lol!
So maybe we should do a BR of Crazy Rich Asians and then a buddy watch of the film when it comes out on DVD.
Hmm. I do love a Darcy especially THE Darcy.
Have you all seen this?
https://frolic.media
I got Sirius Black from Harry Potter. WTH? I knew I shouldn’t have said I liked bad boys! Ugh! I need a do over.
New Sarah J Maas? Squeeeee! Oh My Gawd. Must finish current read first though.
FLT: “Jude! Stop!” Sunny Day held up the long skirt of her evening gown as she chased her seventeen-year-old son out the front doors of the de Young Museum.- Dawn of Forever (Jack & Jill #3).
I need to update my list! I now have reading material, thanks to all you amazing ladies!
Finish Jack & Jill 3
Sarah J Maas!!!!
Prodigal Son
Before I Ever Met You
And then the MC books y’all loved!!!
Eek!!! Love it.
That is AWESOME MichelleS.
Right, Tessa?
Tessa – I feel your pain! PEOPLE DIED in my book too.
It’s awesome that I got Sirius? I’m redoing that sucker right now. Be back with my true man!
I got Henry from Time Traveler’s Wife. He’s mine. I’m stealing him from Bev. She can have SB. I changed ONE answer… picked romance instead of fantasy.
But I love Henry….though one aspect that was pretty horrible about being his wife.
Sirius needs a little happiness and you can give him that MichelleS.
Wait….im Going to answer for Amy.
Robbie from Atonement I wasn’t expecting that….ok first Heathcliff. But I thought she deserved better.
I finished Execution and LOVED — SOOOO worth the wait!! Angst and super-forbidden romance in spades with a majorly sexy, broody, commanding Russian to boot, and Kova’s all MINE!! Now I’m not so upset that I was late to the ‘Will’ party. lol
So now I have time for a 2nd FLT:
“I slid across the slick gym floor in the lightweight boots, a fourteen-inch, silver-plated vamp-killer in one hand, the other hand back in a fist.” (I love Jane Yellowrock!)
Cold Reign by Faith Hunter
LOL bev!!! I haven’t read Atonement but I loved the movie, so yeah I’d take him. Or maybe it’s just because it was James McAvoy…
And I read and loved Wuthering Heights so I’d be happy with Heathcliff.
I took the quiz and got Darcy. Can you believe I’ve never read it? *shrugs*
MichelleS got a guy who is fun, adventurous, a bit of a bad boy, and will never mature. *snickers*
I said fantasy and got Henry…
Yes, but I was a bit invested in the people who died. Two died that hurt, but one of them seriously hurt. Then that end hurt… It was a painful book. BUT! I’m glad that wasn’t the end. It was originally going to be and if had ended like that… I’d have been bawling Bright Side style, no joke. Even thinking of that ending gets me teary-eyed still.
Boo to death books!!
*giggle* I’ve never read Wuthering Heights,Pride and Prejudice *or* Bright Side…
Grey, me neither. The “classic” books bring me back to my torturous HS English classes. Yuck! Of course Bright Side is too sad for me.
I had to read Wuthering Heights for my senior English class. It’s truly a train wreck. It’s a lesson on all the signs to avoid in men. I still haven’t read Pride and Prejudice either. Bright Side. *sniffles* That tells you why I’m glad the series didn’t end there.
Pride and Prejudice was a struggle for me to get through but I did. I made it halfway through Wuthering Heights. I soooo want to love English Lit, but I soooo don’t.
Hydraulic question!!
I really want to read these since I remember them being so popular a few years ago, and they totally made R. freak out. Now… I’m seeing book #3 has no release date and hasn’t for a while…
Does #2 end on a cliffhanger? Still good even if #3 never comes out? I’m dying to jump in!!
