bev December 25, 2016 at 12:49 PM

Maryse likes a dark Christmas.

She seems to write books about covetous women.

Maryse December 25, 2016 at 1:23 PM

Scary creepy people, bev. Women or men… as long as it’s got that creep-factor, with a hint of a twist coming. Or crazy ending.

Like “You” (HE was the creepy one…) :D !!!

Maryse December 25, 2016 at 1:23 PM

Oh you mean what Tarryn writes. Hey yeah!! That’s true!!! LOL!

bev December 25, 2016 at 7:28 PM

Whatever could I put in a recap?
Hmm, R, what do you think?
Gosh what is there to say?

Cheryl December 25, 2016 at 7:44 PM

*whispers* yep Amy, an adorable “petite” santa’s helper!!!

I may wait to get some first thoughts from Maryse & Amy on Bad Mommy before starting it. I’m scared!

Merry Christmas everyone. Have a safe and fun break. Lots of hugs. Xxx

Cheryl December 25, 2016 at 11:58 PM

Ok, I started Bad Mommy. I feel like the way Fig describes Jolene that she’s describing Tarryn Fisher. hahaha it’s a Tarryn Fisher, Colleen Hoover spoof!!

Amy December 25, 2016 at 11:59 PM

*huggles everyone, even Bev* <——- umm…alright, what'd I miss while I was gone??

Amy December 26, 2016 at 12:00 AM

Cheryl…I’m joining you soon in the Bad Mommy blankie fort!!

*snort* Sounds like a time-out spot…

Cheryl December 26, 2016 at 12:05 AM

Hit submit too soon. I’m laughing because I read the “review” Colleen gave this book on GR.

MichelleS December 26, 2016 at 12:12 AM

Big hugs to everyone from me too!! Especially Bev! Ha! Amy – miss your humor! Merry Christmas.

Can’t do dark & twisted at holidays. It’ll have to wait.

Is it January yet? I can’t wait to read my January book

bev December 26, 2016 at 1:10 AM

You missed that R read Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda. And loved it. 5 star loved it. Hehehe.
But she won’t rec it to you. She say, ” No, not an Amy book, where is my vodka.”
I say, “Yes, it is an Amy book you’re just drunk.”
And so now you have to read it and tell us whose right.

bev December 26, 2016 at 1:13 AM

I’ll only huggle a puggle, Tessa knows this.

R. Renee December 26, 2016 at 3:05 AM

bev bev bev… *sigh*

Julie o December 26, 2016 at 6:01 AM

Leslie M December 26, 2016 at 10:24 AM

Grey, are you at Disney?? You called me a “book babe”! *blushes*

Bad Mommy sounds very intriguing…can’t wait for some feedback.

Maryse is adorbs on her pile of books!! Big hugs to her for creating this awesome place for all us “babes” *giggles* to hang out.

I hope everyone had a good holiday. I’m off to shop for after Christmas bargains.

bev December 26, 2016 at 12:46 PM

Hey, your the one who kept bringing up alcohol ;)

Is it weird that instead of holiday songs I keep listening to Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show?

bev December 26, 2016 at 12:46 PM

Gah, You’re. You’re. You’re.

R. Renee December 26, 2016 at 12:59 PM

Speaking of, I do not recommend drinking apple cider bellinis if one of your favorite celebs from childhood plans to pass away.

bev December 26, 2016 at 1:01 PM

C’mon. Name?

Was it Henry Winkler?

Fabi December 26, 2016 at 1:24 PM

Huge sale on Kindle NYT best sellers. I just picked up Dark Matter for $4.99. I’d had it reserved at the library, but with this sale, I’d rather own it.

Fabi December 26, 2016 at 1:33 PM

bev, George Michael passed away.

Jean December 26, 2016 at 1:34 PM

Thanks Fabi! I just got it! Love those Amazon gift cards!

Fabi December 26, 2016 at 1:43 PM

Awesome Jean. I finally got one too this year. My fam kept giving me B&N GCs for Christmas and birthday. I finally said something about it the last time I got one. “Love you, but I really buy almost all my books on Amazon.”. :-/

bev December 26, 2016 at 1:46 PM

Yes of course.

I read R’s comment as passed by, as in a celebrity walked by her.
Very sad news as is Carrie Fisher being in the hospital.

Fabi December 26, 2016 at 1:49 PM

We’ve lost a lot of influential celebrities in 2016. The Death Year.

Jean December 26, 2016 at 1:55 PM

Trying to stay away from the death subject today. Still struggling over a difficult weekend.

So, on another note, Darkfever is $1.99 today for those who haven’t read it yet.

Fabi December 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM

I’m so sorry Jean. *big hug*

bev December 26, 2016 at 2:05 PM

That is hard Jean, especially at this time of year. I sometimes think we put too much expectation on this day, and time of year.
It can be nice for it to be a quiet time for self care and starting the new year in peace and healing.
I’ve been burning candles, listening to good music and reading some good books. And eating some rich comfort foods.

Jean December 26, 2016 at 2:05 PM

Thanks Fabi. It’s the son of one our best friends. Diabetic coma, cardiac arrest twice, ventilator, no brain activity…..22 years old. We are all heartbroken, but praying for a miracle.

Fabi December 26, 2016 at 2:07 PM

Oh Jean! That is beyond difficult. So damn unfair. I’m so sorry.

bev December 26, 2016 at 2:09 PM

Very unfair.

Jean December 26, 2016 at 2:11 PM

I know! So many questions….and why, why, why?

So I need distractions and Wolfsong is totally doing that for me!

R. Renee December 26, 2016 at 2:11 PM

Jean that’s awful. I’m so sorry. And the timing. Gah!

Jean December 26, 2016 at 2:20 PM

I know, and I think the worst is yet to come. It’s a waiting game. We were at their house through the whole thing and it was just horrible.

bev December 26, 2016 at 2:27 PM

You and your husband are amazing friends, Jean.

Jean December 26, 2016 at 2:37 PM

Thanks bev. Still felt so helpless. I’m going to bury myself in werewolves for the rest of the day to escape reality!

Grey December 26, 2016 at 3:13 PM

Oh Jean. (Hugs) I’m so sorry… Hugs to you and your friends.

bev, if I pretend I’m a puggle, then can I have a huggle?

Welcome back Amy!

Leslie, yep…we are at Disney for a couple more days, then Universal.

bev December 26, 2016 at 5:47 PM

Grey, are you going to Harry Potter?

Tessa December 26, 2016 at 7:59 PM

*hugs Jean* No words can express, but just a lot of prayers for him.

Nay December 26, 2016 at 9:01 PM

Merry Christmas, everyone! Just now finding time to get on here after such a busy, busy weekend! I’ve missed so many posts that I don’t think I’ll ever get caught up!

Maryse–thanks so much for all the incredibly hard work you do to help us all stay entertained!

Jean–I’m so, so heartbroken to hear about your friends’ son! And it’s especially hard this time of year. My prayers are with you, and them, and him. **hugs**

Jean December 26, 2016 at 10:19 PM

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Your support is truly appreciated!

Grey December 26, 2016 at 10:25 PM

bev, yep Harry Potter and Spiderman at the end of the week when we hit Universal…I’m going to need a vacation to recover from my vacation. Counted my steps today… I walked over 10 miles… And this was when I remembered to turn the stupid thing on LOL! and I’d already been on the move for an hour and a half. Today was Magic Kingdom day. Tomorrow Hollywood Studios.

Cheryl December 26, 2016 at 10:59 PM

Jean, that is so heartbreaking! Diabetes is such a scary disease that affects all ages. I have students in elementary school with it. Prayers for his family and a miracle.

Lisa December 27, 2016 at 12:49 AM

Jean. How heartbreaking for everyone involved. Thinking of you all and sending you all strength. Just tragic.

Amy December 27, 2016 at 10:45 AM

Oh Jean…no words. My heart truly hurts for you and the family.

*huge comfort hug*

Jean December 27, 2016 at 11:01 AM

Thanks for all your kind words ladies. I really appreciate it! Major decisions will be made tomorrow and I’m dreading the next couple days. I’m working today for a distraction but leaving early to go back to the hospital.

What’s everyone reading to finish out the year? I stepped completely out of my box and am reading Wolfsong which I’m loving!

The Bird and the Sword is 1.99 today! Been waiting for a sale on that one!

Ela December 27, 2016 at 11:14 AM

bev December 27, 2016 at 11:57 AM

I have bought way too many books in the last couple days, plus a ton of pre orders for next years. End of year list are my undoing, but mostly I’m writing down a list of them.
Lucy Parker has a new book out next year, the final others, a new Mercy, Kleypas writing about Erie & Sebastian son, and how cute does When Dimple Met Rishi look? Oh, and Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett?
It is the same way I’m eating too many Christmas treats, the 1st and all those resolutions are coming up.

bev December 27, 2016 at 12:00 PM

I’m reading One Fell Sweep and still have some Christmas books I want to read. I’m not sure what else, I’m all over the place mood wise.

Amy, I do have good recs, just ask R. ;)
Next year is the year of zen, got to get it out while I can.

Jean December 27, 2016 at 12:10 PM

OMG bev, I bought so many too! I just went back to look and since December 20th, I’ve bought 14 books! I’m out of control!

bev December 27, 2016 at 12:30 PM

Lol, good I don’t feel alone.
But you know, I refuse to feel guilty. Until the first I’m having a holiday. :)
I did buy one I saw off someone’s best of list super cheap and looks adorable. The Bucket List to Mend a Broken Heart. I might read it really soon, the cover is cute too.

Fabi December 27, 2016 at 12:52 PM

I’ve been trying not to go crazy but who can resist these sales?!

Amy December 27, 2016 at 2:14 PM

*raises hand*

I can’t.

Cheryl December 27, 2016 at 5:03 PM

Buying books on sale is a no-brainer; although I buy them anyway!!TBR out of control!!!

I’m still reading Bad Mommy. Definitely a mess with your brain book. It’s all over the place. No idea how this will end!!
