Good morning and Happy Monday!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day!! I’ve found us some earlybirds, and as usual, I will add more that just went live throughout the day, as we find them.
But first… Three Things:
1.) Tulips that look JUST LIKE PEONIES!!! Double Petal (Double bloom?) tulips that I have fallen head-over-heels in love with because it gives me back my sweet peonies that are my favorite flower (that thrive in Canada and freeze over winter – which they NEED) but cannot survive Florida’s climate. But these?? THESE can!!! I had NO clue they existed! 😀 !!! YAY ME!! Oh and these too!! AHHHHH I LOVE THEM!!! I actually found potted ones at Publix yesterday on a way to a Mother’s Day supper, and bought them for her (which is what had me researching when I got home last night). I was stunned when I read the ticket on them and saw they were tulips and NOT peonies. Just beautiful.
2.) I would like to introduce you to my new “Rattlesnake Plant” that I got on Amazon (couldn’t find any locally so mine is still very tiny but will get big, and I’m plenty patient for it to grow). YAY!! I have almost killed two OTHER plants that I was hoping would do well indoors (per the details on their tag) and I was wrong. My elephant ear deteriorated and so did my other reddish-one that I can’t remember the name of but now live outdoors and are thriving. But then author Dannika Dark posted about her love for her “Rattlesnake Plant” (now “plantS” as she bought more) and how pretty much “unkillable” they were, and how well the did in dim light or normal light and I KNEW this one was for me. THIS was what I was looking for, for my dining room corner. And when she shared this time lapse video of how they move, I knew it HAD to be mine.
3.) I’m addicted to French’s Dill Pickle Crunchy Toppers. I thought these were the fried onions that you top a green bean casserole with (just dill-pickle flavored) but nope. These are full on deep-fried, lightly breaded dill-pickle flavored CUCUMBER pieces. LIKE. CHIPS. OMG. OMMMMMGGGGGGGGG YUMMMMMM! THESE ARE NOT KETO-FRIENDLY. Oh sure… I can incorporate a few in occasional snack bites if I’m feeling “dirty-keto-ish” and MAYBE stay within my carb limit, but come on. Who am I kidding?? I down these by the fist full. So yeah. NO MORE for me. *sigh* I was hoping they’d be my “chips” substitute (dill pickle is also my favorite with those) but yeah, no. I have NO control when it comes to these either, so… just sayin’. Though they are TOOOO YUMMY not to mention, in case you like dill pickle flavored things too.
LOOK WHAT JUST WENT LIVE !!!

*yawns* Good morning!
1, I am so tired. I got up at 4:30 Friday and road with 49 teenagers to NYC and spent 10.5 hrs on a bus. I still haven’t recovered. We had a blast despite the downpour when on Liberty Island. (and security mishap that required me to get a pat down due to my underwire bra?!?) Apparently my boobs are a threat to national security. *snort* 😂
2, Senior prom was Saturday and my “baby” is graduating in less than three weeks. 😢
3, I absolutely LOVE fried pickles and MUST try those French’s things.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother’s Day!
I love fried pickles too
LOL on the boobs!!! 😉 😛
*giggle* Maryse likes fried pickles on the boobs. 😂 (read MichelleS’ comment and then Maryse’s)
LOL!!!!!!! *snort*
Graduating? How exciting! And sad, I’m sure. Congrats to him!
Leslie, Sounds like you had a crazy weekend! We never knew you were a threat to national security…let alone your boobs …lol! Hugs to you on the impending graduation…even though you’re happy, it’s still a lot of changes…I totally get it.
How fun, Leslie! And what a great experience for those kids. 🙂
It was awesome! Liberty & Ellis Island then 911 museum. I never go anywhere so it was extra exciting.
OMG your boobs! That sounds like a romcom!
Leslie, I can so relate, well not the boobs (mine are not a security risk), but the prom and graduating. My “baby” is graduating too!!
Good morning! Happy Monday!
Three things:
1) Love the rattlesnake plant, Maryse! I’ve never seen one of those. I got a gorgeous phalaenopsis orchid for Mother’s Day. It’s one of my favorite flowers, but getting it was a bit bittersweet because that’s the last thing I bought my own mom right before I lost her 18 months ago.
2) My youngest baby graduates from high school on Thursday. Gah! He’s graduating 18th in his class and makes me so proud!
3) I got the Daisy Jones audio book from the library, so I’m planning to start listening to it today–I can’t wait! Now I just need to figure out what I want to read. I’m thinking about starting Praying for Rain, the first book in the new dystopian trilogy (also titled Praying for Rain) by BB Easton, one of my favorite authors who knocked my socks off with the 44 Chapters series.
Bittersweet, my friend. *big squeeeeeeezy hug* I’m so sorry.
I would be lost without my mom. Even though we are in two different countries, FaceTime allows us to see each other every single day.
Hugs Nay! I know Mother’s Day is so hard for many – for those who have either lost their beautiful mothers or who have lost children…I’m sending you extra squeezes today!
Congrats to your baby! 18th in his class is amazing! That’s a lot to be proud of!
Yay, you finally got the Daisy Jones audio! You’ll love it! Even though I loved both the book and the audio…it really does lend itself to an audio format so easily….let me know what you think…
Now I also must have a rattlesnake plant. My son and I were in love with a crocodile fern recently. Those no kill plants are perfect for me and the cool leaves and creature names are what grab us.
I love the tulip as well. My memory of peonies was always these huge peonies near my Grandma’s porch covered in ants. Now I associate peonies as ant plants and almost 100% of the time can spot one on them. Which is why they’re not aloud in my house. But they’re very pretty!
I had NO clue about the ants. My mom has a ton of ’em planted around her house and I’ve always found them so beautiful, and researched hard for a variety that could survive here.
I was so disappointed but these tulips will do it for me!
At least you get the beauty with the tulips, hopefully with no ants. Lol. I know they’re not harmful (outside) but they give me the creepies.
P.S. Now I have to look up these crocodile ferns!!! 😀
No sleep and no coffee.
My fault I took a long late nap.
I did finish another book. I cant believe I got to a place where that feels like such an accomplishment.
Remember. Summer is coming.
It seems to be contagious around here with taking forever to finish a book. What’s up with that?? Remember when we all used to plow through 2 or 3 books a week? Consistently?? Ugh. Those were the days…
Is it a good morning?
Because GoT shattered me last night. And not for the reasons I was expecting it would. We all know to expect the worst and that no one is safe, but this…THIS took it to another level. I. Am. Devastated.
Maybe some expected this, and I KNEW it was a possibility, but to see it play out was so troublesome for me. I went from, “BOOM! You show ‘em!” to “OMG nooooo! STOPPPPPPP!!!”
So is it a good morning?
I think not. 😩
My mouth was gaping open in shock! No no no don’t do this!!!
I agree with your thoughts about GoT. I think we were all absolutely stunned…
RIGHT?!? And now, looking back at season 2 in the House of the Undying…dear lord that wasn’t snow, was it? *sob* They warned us all along!
I’m just…crushed.
Nope, not snow. We were in shock too. Yelling at the tv, not believing our eyes.
OMG, you are right! I didn’t even pick up on that!! I was so disappointed in her for that. 🙁
Is there anyone on the planet who hasn’t (ever) watched GoT? Um *coyly puts up hand* Me? I know, I know. I’ll do it one day……..
Raises hand. One of these days I have to binge watch GoT. Hopefully before all is spoiled.
*raises hand* Right there with you, Cheryl & Jan.
*gasp*
You guys are so lucky that you get to binge the whole thing without waiting for new episodes, if you choose to watch it.
And you SHOULD choose to watch it.
1. I’m dragging…reading an ARC of Emma’s A Five Minute Life. Let me just say that receiving that ARC was the best Mother’s Day gift! Yay me! I love all of her words. But, needless to say, I didn’t want to sleep and I’m paying for it today…I’m at about the 85% mark. It’s wonderful. Y’all are gonna love it.
2. My daughter graduates from college at 5:30 Sunday night. I’m super proud…she’s graduating with honors. When is the honors ceremony? 8:30 Saturday morning. I mean, could they plan this any more inconveniently? :-0 Anyway, she’s totally thrilled. She gets 8 days off and then she starts back to do an Accelerated Nursing Program for 15 months. As the non-science person in the family, I am awed! I think she’s an absolute rockstar!
3. Sidenote: As excited as we are about graduation, we just realized that it will undoubtedly mess with our ability to watch the last episode of Game of Thrones next Sunday night…I’m not sure who is more traumatized…me or my daughter …lol! She’s freaked out that she can’t look at ANY social media until she watches it. Just made me kind of chuckle how a major life event is being compared to a series finale.
Have a great Monday everyone!
What a proud mama you must be! You raised a determined young woman. She deserves the praise, but you also deserve some kudos for bringing her up to be who she is today. 😉
As for the GoT/graduation dilemma…it IS a dilemma. *cringes* That sucks.
Aww shucks!! Thanks Amy!!
Yeah, I joked with her that I’d be the one in the audience streaming GoT with my earbuds in…she was NOT amused with me lol.
Congrats to your daughter too, Michele! And she’s definitely a rockstar! You know how I feel about nurses–they’re my angels and have made much of my last 3 years more bearable (and livable). I couldn’t have gotten through the way I have without them.
Okay, now that I’m done being dramatic:
1. I love plants but am awful about tending to them. Maybe I should give some of the ones mentioned here a shot.
2. Maryse’s gushing (and cute “baby pic”) over the rattlesnake plant and the tulips has definitely lifted my spirits this morning. 😉
3. I’m off today and tomorrow, so I’m all about deep cleaning! Window tracks, cupboards, baseboards, closets, laundry room…nothing is safe from me today and tomorrow. *rubs hands together*
I’m going to Publix tonight to see if they have any left. I’m going to buy myself a pot of ’em (peony-like tulips) !!! 😀 *fingers crossed*
I want that rattlesnake plant for my daughter. She can take it to college in lieu of her “live” snake. *sidenote: she was crying about being a bad “Mom” and leaving her baby snake while she goes off to college in the fall. 😉
Tarryn Fisher posted that her publisher is allowing her to choose a book club to give ARC’s of The Wives to. I thought Ela posted that she wanted one. You can post the name of your club on her Instagram for a chance.
Um, aren’t WE considered a book club??
Reading club name…Maryse’s Book Buddies (I was going to use another “B” word, but not everyone is as crass as me *giggle*)
Why yes! Yes. We. Are. 😉
We do meet every Monday, Tuesday and Friday to discuss books…..and other things. I say we enter!
I think we should too! I’ll post on her IG…I think the more of us that do the better…
Dang I just looked at it…has to be a book club that meets in person.
What the heck?? It’s not OUR fault we live all over the country (actually, the world!) and can’t meet in person. Whatever. 😤
Well that sucks! Hmph! 😡
People meeting in real life is so old fashioned. Like paperbacks. CDs, DVDs, cable, telephones, etc. publishers need to get with the times! 😂
I agree…I was surprised when it said that too!
LOL!!!!
I think our club would be an advantage for her. Multiple demographics from around the world. Better than a local book club.
Love the tulips. 🙂 Especially if you love peonies, those should thrive in FL’s heat. My favorites thrive everywhere: daisies. Especially this type. They are just so cool looking. They look like little artistic sunbursts. https://smile.amazon.com/Seeds-Market-African-simple-growing/dp/B06XRY3176/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=african+daisies&qid=1557764408&s=gateway&sr=8-2
I still need to watch yesterday’s GoT. I was too out of it yesterday from not enough sleep the night before. Bleh.
Bev, I see why you said not to judge. lol Liking it, but the writing is a little simplistic. But it’s cute and all the bully angsty I like in my books with pineapple head. lol
Oh Tessa…it was gut-wrenching. At least for me. This was me by the end…
That was INTENSE. Just pure intense. I’m home cause Saturday I woke up to not feeling good, and I haven’t gotten enough sleep. So, I decided to catch up and intense!
Ooooh those daisies are cool-looking!! I haven’t ever seen them before.
I love them! I got them quite a few years ago the first time at Home Depot of all places, and they were so cool looking, I fell in love. I love daisies to begin with, but those just make me smile.
Lol.
Lots if adaptations of this show. The Korean version is on Netflix too.
https://www.dramabeans.com/2018/09/to-all-the-flower-boys-ive-loved-before/
I’m only on episode 2, the Cinderella part. The writing is so simplistic and it’s not just the translation, but the actions. 🙂
Is FL unbearable end of July, Maryse? I’ve decided on beach vaca this year and thinking Carolinas or FL. Looking at Clearwater, Destin, Ft Lauderdale and then thought- wait, will we be miserable then?
Tasha, speaking from experience having vacationed on the coast of both South Carolina and Florida in July. It will be hotter than anything…but you’ll have the ocean breeze…that makes everything bearable in my world…
Ok, thanks Michele. I think we’ll still plan for it then.
Yes if you can be on the water, that will be so wonderful. But yes. July and August are scorchers.
I can’t speak for the rest of FL (except for Orlando in May, which was bearable) but I lived for almost two years in Destin/Ft Walton Beach area, also known as the Panhandle, and never was it miserable. Even in the middle of summer, it was perfectly warm beach weather with ideal ocean temps and without any humidity.
YESSSS!! DESTIN and Ft. Walton are AMAZING. Agreed!
Oh, I’m going to check out Ft Walton. I’m unfamiliar. Actually haven’t been to Destin either, but a lot of family has and suggested we go there. I thought it was more crowded though, so I didn’t want to at the time. The last we went it was Ft Meyers area. Someone just suggested to me New Smyrna also. I have to research all this now. I’m famous for last minute vaca planning. Like weeks before. Look at me now! *dusts shoulders* 😜
1. I must have those tulips just for the name, Foxy Foxtrot!!
2. I agree with Michele. A Five-Minute Life is…WOW! I just finished it yesterday and holy crap. The hubs had to wait for me to stop crying so we could go out for lunch!
3. This is the week I go back to being “normal.” No more binge drinking diet cokes, living off pizza delivery, and sleeping less than 4 hours! I even stayed in bed and read this morning. For fun!!
Last comment about GoT and then I will stop (for a little while, anyway *snort*) and get some work done…
CLEGANEBOWL DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
And Cersei’s walk-by when it was about to go down was priceless. 😂
That was so her. Like, huh, you want to fight? Bye!
She totally did the Nope Octopus, LOL!
Oh wait, I can POST the Nope Octopus now! Sooooo, here it is…
Cersei at Cleganebowl:
lol Exactly!
Right?!?!? Die already you freak! And Cercei… excuse me fellas, I’m just gonna, yeah, move right on along… ha!
“Sandor…thank you.”
My. Poor. Heart. 😩😭🤧
Had to read some spoilers.
Dany……never my favorite so ….
But one of the deaths makes me super sad.
Well, she is MY favorite so…
https://images.app.goo.gl/yZNrxFVumRuXKMft7
Well, it didn’t work but that’s what I’m feeling.
When i first started reading the books she was a total favorite. Then, years before there was ever a show, the books were mentioned in a magazine. I want to say Rolling Stone. They compared (as much as my foggy mind can remember) her to like the United States in war. I believe in the middle east. How we have all this might but dont pay attention to the intricacies involved in the after of helping a country. Like she liberated all these people but then had no real plan to help them stay liberated. Her only answer was to keep using might. Dont agree, I burn you.
Anyway, not exactly in those words but then could never see Dany any other way.
Oooh. Tessa is putting me on her kill list.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Now Arya?
She kicks ass.
She’s my hero. I’ve loved her since episode one. 😀
Ok, so I read this book when it came out with my daughter. I may have been more into it than she was at the time and how excited I am to say it’s gonna be a movie on Netflix!! https://deadline.com/2019/04/a-babysitters-guide-to-monsters-netflix-family-film-rachel-talalay-directing-joe-ballarini-1202594708/
I have #2, haven’t started it yet, but we’re definitely catching up on the series.
I wish someone would pick up Charley Davidson. How cool would that be to see on screen?
That would be awesome, Tasha! As long as they didn’t ruin Reyes with someone who’s not worthy. ❤️️😍😈
I’m at the commissary and just saw a can of…
…wait for it…
…spotted dick sponge.
*blink*
*scratches head*
Yeah, I’m done here.
There is a traditional English sponge dessert called spotted dick (the *spots* are currants) but I’ve never heard of it in a CAN!! But it’s probably not as bad as you think, Amy. LOL.
Hopefully they’re selling antibiotic ointment next to the spotted dick sponge! SNORT
OMG MichelleS!!! So apropos! 😛
I’m sorry are you working in a British hospital during the Blitz?
LOL!! As if the canned dick isn’t enough, you guys and your comments. 😂
I wanna eat it.
Probably not Keto though. 😕
😂🤣
OMG… 😂😂😂
Dick in a can. LOL. Makes me think of…
https://giphy.com/gifs/snl-saturday-night-live-2000s-3o7TKVFCdpZD0nThEk
*laughs and shakes head* Look, spotted dick tastes good, alright? It’s not keto, though. Is it going to sound even more inappropriate if say it’s usually served with custard?
“Look, spotted dick tastes good, alright?”
BLAHAHAHA!!!! *wheezes* I…can’t…take…anything in your comment!! It’s not keto? Served with custard?? More like comes with custard!!! 😂
COMES. WITH. CUSTARD!!!!!!
I don’t even care if it’s not Keto. I AM IN!!!!
“I AM IN!!!!” <——— that’s what the canned dick said. 🤣
Okay, I’ll (try to) stop.
*snort*
It’s just like old times!!!!!! 😀
Spotted.
Dick.
You guys! I’m dying here. It’s almost as funny as throwing penises Maryse.
LOL!!!!!!! With my baby bird mouth open all unsuspecting-like. *facepalms*
I giggled like crazy when I saw Cock Soup at the grocery store!!!
All unsuspecting-like and then *SMACK*!!! Face, meet penis.
Thank goodness we didn’t have the edit feature back then or this scenario would never have existed, LOL!
And now we have cock soup to go with our custard-covered spotted dick. 🤣
Tee hee!!!
I love our crazy moments. So right that it all still exists!!! 😀
None of the new books up there really grabbing me today. I’d like to try The Unhoneymooners, but it’s pretty expensive on kindle 🙁 and I haven’t really loved the last few by Christina Lauren. I know many love their newer more romcom style, but it’s just not really my fav thing. I guess I’ll try the sample though. *sighs nostalgically over the Beautiful series*
Congrats to all the mommas whose babies are graduating. Exciting times.
I’m another person who struggles to keep plants alive indoors. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve killed a beautiful African violet plant. I think I tend to over-water. 🙁 I’m intrigued by the crocodile fern and the rattlesnake plants. Not sure whether they’re available down here, though.
Maryse, another new historical romance release tomorrow by the prolific Grace Burrowes. A Lady of True Distinction (The True Gentleman series)
I’ll make sure to add it!! 😀
Thanks 😀
Maryse?
Do you see how they treat me on here?
Now I cant get them to work, lol.
Oh, now we’re gonna tattle? Okay then.
She’s a badass. I wanna be her.
I want dragons too. I wanna summon ’em.
As Leslie would say:
If only I looked like this!!! 😜
HAHAHAHA!!
Look at Leslie flaunting her security-risk boobs!! LOL!!!
*snort*
*snort*
Tooo cute!!
*snuggles bev*
This is coming very late but I’m sure you will see it! I have two of those rattlesnake plants, also just learned they are also called a prayer plant. The first one funny enough I bought at Publix, the second off of Etsy. They are pretty low maint.
Ooooh Steph!! I never thought to look at Publix. Mine is already growing fast, and looking AMAZING and doing the day and night positions super-tight. I would LOVE to buy more. I’m going to Publix today so I’m going to look for one and see.
*fingers crossed*
