Good morning and happy Monday everyone!!! LOOKIT WHAT JUST WENT LIVE EARLY!! My coffee is brewing and i’m going to put a big dollop of sugar-free whip cream on top and start this new week off right. 😉 I had a wonderful weekend that I’ll never forget. Let me tell you about it:
THREE THINGS:
1.) I went to a graduation this Saturday. I’d never been to one before (other than my own so many years ago 😉 ) and it was such a beautiful ceremony, and we were all so proud (he graduated with honors!). A wonderful day spent with friends and family and loved ones and we had a small celebration party at my house. Grilling and swimming and laughing and taking so many photos. I was exhausted but elated by nighttime and fell asleep with a smile on my face.
2.) I am SO IN LOVE with Reformation dresses. Especially the mini dresses. So flirty and leg baring but really classy. I just got a great deal on two of them (this one and this one) that were on sale because they only had one left in my size and I squeeeeed so loud. What luck!! On me, they’re not as mini as they are on the models ’cause I’m so short, so I wore the grey one with the tie around the neck to the graduation ceremony.
3.) I want to thank Jan, Linda and Mari for adamantly recommended their 5-star May favorite, “Carry the World“. I am devouring it as we speak, and absolutely in love with it. It’s not my usual genre (the story is taking place during the Depression era) but the rest of it totally screams MY THING!! It’s about a librarian that delivers books to those living reclusively in the mountains and there’s one grieving single father of 2 little ones that she’s particularly fond of. Oh I AM IN LOVE with this book!!! I’m absolutely positive it’s going to be 5 stars for me too. The writing is exquisite, and I feel like I’m living in it, not just reading it. Hooked and happy!!! I think for me, when it comes to historical romance, I’m not so much “Victorian/Regency and more… this. The historical romance books I’ve loved tend to be wartime and depression era struggles. Next might just be “Years” by LaVyrle Spencer that so many recommended. I’m ready.

Good morning!
1. Your grad party sounds like a blast! We also went to one on Saturday. The party itself wasn’t all that fun. It was extremely windy and the food was cold. You had to hold onto that stuff too or it was gone. And not very many people came. But, it’s near my folks campsite (which had some blockage from that nasty wind) and we had a good time socializing there.
2. I’m getting up just now, like a true procrastinator, to bust my but to have the kids to swim pictures at 9. I was kind of hoping they’d get rained out. I suppose this way they’ll be over with.
3. I got a new purse yesterday! It’s a crossbody. Along with a new wallet bc I’ve gotten into a nasty habit of losing everything I carry. I’d carry my wallet, phone, and keys everywhere and inevitably leave at least one behind and realize later I had to hunt for something. And pray they didn’t get stolen! I hope this helps. And, it’s super cute! https://www.banglesandbags.com/products/simplynoelledreamweaversatchel-whiskey?variant=16254076616806¤cy=USD&utm_campaign=gs-2018-11-16&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign&gclid=CNeUt7jy3uICFYu4wAodRd8JgQ
I LOVE IT!!! Very cute and of course it will help. I am lost without my purse. My whole life is in there.
That IS super cute, Tasha! I have to have a huge purse because I feel lost if I don’t have everything from the little packets of lemon juice to nasal spray with me at all times. Like Maryse, my whole life is in there. But I need one this size to take certain places where I’d rather have something smaller (in which case, I also take my huge purse–or my tote bag–and leave the larger one in the car 😂).
Super cute! I’d be lost without a purse. Mine isn’t huge since I don’t have to cart around toys anymore for dude, but it’s still big enough for a ton of stuff.
My purse needs a good clean out though. I have like 6 chapsticks rolling around in there, long-dead receipts, various hand creams and gels. I’m pretty sure I can get away with just one of each in there. *snort* 😛
It’s not that I didn’t already have a purse, it’s just a Mary Poppins purse. Which, I LOVE. But, I’ve been lugging around a diaper bag for a year, so I just stick my wallet in there usually. But, sometimes, I don’t want to carry the diaper bag through a store or whatever, cuz I have some freedom with that. Or, the baby isn’t with me so I just grab my wallet out of it. I hope I get back in the habit of keeping it with me, but also don’t feel more overwhelmed with the diaper bag to carry around to. They also had these SUPER cute little wallets with the long strap to carry crossbody style, but my phone wouldn’t fit. But then I think, maybe I could’ve just stuck that in the one I got and I could grab that out if I just needed money, so I wouldn’t have to carry the purse too. But then, I know that’s getting back into the habit of wanting less to carry and there goes my phone, keys, whatever. I’ve also been losing baby shoes like crazy. I’m a hot mess. LOL!
*sigh* Maybe I can’t wait for fanny packs to come back in style. 😉
Fanny packs are cool! I have one. I’ve not seen others with them on, but who cares? 😛 I have this thing that goes on your waist too over your pants a little so it looks like a long tank top or something. I really like it, but it won’t fit my phone either. I have that life proof case. https://www.amazon.com/EAZYMATE-Fashion-Running-Belt-Smartphones/dp/B0150WC0C8/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=Women’s+running+belt&qid=1560193030&s=gateway&sr=8-7
I like the Herschel co. Fanny packs. They don’t look 90s ish. Lol
Fashion running belt?!?!? LOL. They can call it whatever they want. It’s a fanny pack! Ha! Ok. I admit, that one ain’t half bad.
Okay, confession. I rediscovered one of my FAVORITE phone games, covet fashion. Basically you dress up a Barbie type figure with clothes that are out now, like Calvin Klein Tourani Couture, Mystique, MCM, etc. And! The bags are now called “belt bags” (Still a fanny pack). It has been available on this game for two seasons now. KID YOU NOT!

I could not make this fanny pack thing coming back up! Some WAY cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/slp/belt-bag/nnzke4u2utb86fr
My bags get bigger every year. I now have a huge whopper of a bag… leather hobo. Everything I need is always on the bottom. Used to do only cross body. Once you go ginormous, you can’t go back! I need all that stuff!!! Granola bars, a brush, YIU know… important stuff.
Good morning! I finished the Unhoneymooners this weekend and I ended up enjoying it so much! I laughed until I cried several times, and the H was so goshdarn loveable (and sexy)! I highly recommend it if you want a Rom, with just the right amount of Com, that’s done really well.
I’m going to start Carry the World either today or tomorrow. I can’t wait to read it!
Yay Nay!! So we’ll sort of be buddy-reading it.
I love a good laugh-til-I-cry read, so the Unhoneymooners is a sure thing for me!!! 😀
1. I just finished The Unhoneymooners too and loved it! I don’t think they can write a book I wouldn’t like at this point. I’ve put off Dating You / Hating You because it’s an office romance (and not my fave trope) but I’m wondering if I’m missing out.
2. I fell into such a deep book slump after releasing Riders, I’m 18 books behind on my Goodreads goal! Slowly coming out of it now, but I don’t think I’ll be able to catch up!
3. We had a crazy scary storm here last night and like an idiot, I sat outside to watch it. Yep. I’ll bet that person carried off by a tornado one of these days.
R!!!! OMG YES. I LOVE being outside during a storm. Wind and heavy rain and that cool brisk fresh smelling air is just exhilarating. I’m that person too.
I was standing outside of my hotel room during a BAD hurricane in Daytona quite a few years ago and literally watched the roof (metal roof!!) being torn off and flying around in the parking lot hitting cars…
And there we were outside recording it all. LOL!
Robin–did you laugh till you cried any like I did? I haven’t laughed that much reading a book in a long time. (Of course, I mostly read dark and angsty, so that’s probably why 😜)
I also love to sit outside when it’s storming. I wasn’t allowed to during the 13 years I had the internal defibrillator (hubs would always make me go inside while they all sat outside 😟), so I’m thrilled to be able to do so now!
I did in places, but I laughed a ton more in Josh and Hazel! I think because this was more romcom and that’s not usually my thing.
I still need to read Josh and Hazel.
Yes do it!! I know you’ll love it, but now I’m curious if you think it’s more or less funny than this one! I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. But I did the same during a certain scene in Roomies and I think I might be the only one. 😂
I’ve just watched the trailer for Then Came You on Netflix. I’m watching tonight!! I need a good cry.
Gasp! Noooooo crying for me. All I need are good laughs right now. I’m thinking R’s laughing ’til she couldn’t breathe for “Josh & Hazel” might be just what I need!
OMG Maryse! I’m reading Carry The World also. Can I just say…best book of 2019 so far. I’m in love with books set in rural Appalachia. Maybe it’s my inner Justified coming out. The Idea of a Pack Horse Librarian is new and exciting to read about. Who knew those existed? Plus, throw in some romance, great writing that takes you there and Wha-la, we have book crack! Can you tell I’m really excited about his book? LOL
Also, I’m in love with all things LaVeryle Spencer! I have read every one of her books many times. Years is one of my absolute favorites. Once you read one book you won’t be able to stop. Jill Marie Landis’s earlier books remind me of LS. I’ve read all those too. Let me know how much you love Years!
YAY!!!! Buddy reading together! I’m so happy Robyn!!! And absolutely I will let you know how I’m loving it. My aunt reminded me again last night when I told her how good Carry the World was.
1. I thought I posted this but apparently didn’t hit enter. *rolls eyes* OOPS! In the Arms of the Elite was good. Ended the way I wanted and I hope she writes them going into college.
2. It’s going to be 101 degrees today! OMG *dies*
3. I still have candy canes from Christmas. Yes, you saw that right. Candy Canes. Guess what I’m trying to give to dude to get rid of them all. lol
That weather sounds nice! We’re in shorts and sweatshirts here. It’s 61, cloudy and breezy. I have candy canes too! I was saving them for hot cocoa, but I don’t like looking at excess in candy and snacks.
Exactly on the candy but 101 with little humidity = fires. No smoke hitting this area at least.
and now 104
We are at 108 right now. Tomorrow is 112. ☹️
Our weather is supposed to be in the high 70’s/low 80’s all week. I’m sitting outside with my laptop right now, and it’s wonderful! Sorry y’all are having a heat wave. 😓
HOLY MOLY all your heat indexes are CRAZY. I’m only in the high 80s – mid 90s
Happy Monday! Beautiful & Sunne here today.
I finished The Savior. I was determined to try. Turned out not to be too bad. 3.5 stars… for old time’s sake. Romance was like warm. Getting a little of the old BDB crew was good.
Now what? I’ve got Where The Forest Meets The Stars on que…. hmmmm…
Blech! I don’t want a 3.5 BDB book! That gives me no incentive to get caught up. How did you feel about The Thief? My last book from the main series was The Chosen, and I LOVED it! I still need to read a BDB Legacy book before I read The Thief, though. And OMG! I didn’t even realize until just now that The Savior was Murhder’s book! Now I’m on a mission to get caught up.
The Thief… meh for me… but I read it. I’m not giving up. I’m invested in these characters. There’s just some weird things that turn me off: her use of old language and new lingo is just AWKWARD. The sex… what happened Ms Ward? Not hot anymore. The Savior gave me some good background on characters that explains a lot. So that was good.
I’ve also noticed the hotness is missing. 😟
Wanna know a secret? I keep tabs open on my phone all the time, so I can save something I need to look at later or whatever. I haven’t counted them all, I know I need to go through them. Want to know how many Maryse’s book blog tabs I have open? 26!!!! I knew it was getting a bit much, but now I’m gonna have to go through every single one to see what I might need from it before cleaning house. And it won’t be tonight, so maybe 27. 😬
LOL, Tasha! Sounds like me!
LOL!! That is so me with my phone. Weeks worth of stuff still open…
I have an announcement to make! I just had a FB conversation with Melissa Delport (yes, Rainfall M.D.!) about GR things, and I discovered that she has a new series under a pen name, Rachel Rhodes. It’s the Awkward Series and the first two books are out: Awkward in Print and Awkward in Trouble (only these two are on GR and Amazon so far, but there’s a pic of the covers of all of them at the top of Rachel Rhodes’ FB page).
According to her, they’re “very short and sassy, and they actually have a HEA (oh, the agony!!)” And if you’ve read Rainfall or Riven or A Life Made of Lava, you know what she means by that. She also asked that I make sure to mention that the writing is different from her usual, hence the other brand. OMG, I’m still fangirling! 😁😁😁
GASP!!! I LOVE THAT AUTHOR!!! Thank you Nay! I’m gonna look it up right now!
Maryse making me happy you’re loving on Carry the World. Such a great story plus a history lesson!!
1. Hubby’s been in Alaska since last Tuesday for Nationwide Veterans Golden Age Olympics and coming home Wednesday morning.
2. Because of #1 was totally able to indulge in reading The Simple Wild and laughed and cried and laughed and cried. Oh my heart.
3. Haven’t read Years but did read Morning Glory by same author and it was an amazing read. Loved it. Needing something on the lighter side after The Simple Wild so I’m 50ish percent into Faking Ms. Right? Perfect.
YAY!!!! So many keep mentioning Faking Ms. Right and the prequel and LOVING it. Maybe THAT should be my next.
P.S. I LOVED The Simple Wild!!! 😀
Hey! How do I get my avatar back? I’m a green brain blob.
I think you made a new account here under a different email address.
Log back in with your usual email address. The one you are using right now only has a total of 9 comments in the history of the blog (all new). Maybe just a single letter off when you tried logging in? So it created a new one for you?
Ahhh yes I see it!! You usually use the one with 85 in it, but lately you’ve been using the one with 96 in it. That’s why you’re no longer seeing your usual account (and avatar) here.
GASP!!! How do I forget these important dates??? Okay! Thanks!
There I am. A fairy once more!
