Good morning and Happy Monday everyone!! The early bird book releases are exciting today!! Some angsty-sounding choices (unrequited love!!) and dark reads (like that one to the left)! π Plus a few of our favorite authors in the bunch too.
But first…Β Three Things:
1.) I cooked up a storm yesterday now that I can have groceries again (I have my fridge and I LOVE IT!! It’s got TONS of space in it even if it is a side-by-side). It felt so good to get back to my routine. π
2.) I started watching “Abducted in Plain Sight” yesterday on Netflix and OMG that is just INSANE!!! How the parents allowed this predator so close to their daughter is so scary.
3.) I finishedΒ CURVEBALLΒ over the weekend and I loved it! It’s not too crazy or angsty, but has plenty of everything to keep it interesting – she’s the town pariah, and he’s the new firefighter in town and her best friend sets her sights on him. Eeeeep! Oh yes it throws us a few curveballs, for sure! I’d say it has almost has a “Devney Perry” feel to it. HERE’S MY REVIEW.

1, *walks like a zombie to coffee maker*
2, *guzzles coffee*
3, *stares into space contemplating how it’s already Monday a.m.*
1. I woke a couple times, but able to go right back to sleep. So…Yay!
2. Jan tried a rec and it made me ridiculously happy. The show makes me ridiculously happy.
3. Taemin released a new single. Not sure what I fully think. The song will be on repeat, I think. Need to listen again. But the video has so many visual references to MJ. Yes, he was an amazing talent that influences still, but having seen write ups on the new documentary a couple weeks ago that is were my mind is going.

1. Free day!! School is cancelled and Iβm off work duty! Sort of, there are always things to be done around here, but, yay!
2. For Valentines Day weβre going to an indoor water park. Iβm sacrificing my sanity for the childrenβs happiness. I get raging headaches with chlorine so this feels like a monumentally bad idea.
3. Reading The Wolves of Winter and so far so good! Still watching Glee to satisfy my happy. When are more shows releasing? Seems like not much has come out in a while.
Leslie M… ME TOOOOOOO…
I was up by 6:30am and knew I needed to just get going on my day, but wanted SO BADLY to fall back asleep HARD.
Ohhhhh how I give my appreciation and gratitude for coffee.
bev YAY!!!!
Also me too. I slept well last night, and even with the few wake ups, right back down again. Even at 6:30am I could have just fallen right back to sleep for another hour at least.
An indoor water park? HOW. COOL. :D!!!!
P.S. I love free days.
You know what always stresses me out the most about Mondays? Meal planning for the week. Lucky for me, I think I’ve got 4 days worth and a grocery list. Yay!
Sausage & peppers tonight, beef stew tomorrow, cheese tortellini Wed. and then baked mac & cheese. Maybe choc fondue for Valentine’s day treat too.
Leslie that sounds amazing. I do all my meal planning and cooking on Sunday’s. Saturday groceries, then Sunday… I pull it all out (crock pot, instant pot, stove top, air fryer, and the oven, and I get to delegating). π
I miss baked mac and cheese. *sigh*
Mine will have to be baked cauliflower-and-cheese. π
To you all do leftovers?
I absolutely do. I love leftovers. Often, they taste even better the next day. Also, time wise it’s more efficient for me to cook in large batches, and portion them out for the week (freeze some of them too).
Tasha, Glee was canceled a long time ago the year that Cory (who played Finn) passed away. π
1. First night in forever with no nightmares! YAY!
2. I love Smart and Final. They sell so many different varieties of syrup all year round, including sugar-free peppermint. π I’m contemplating getting more flavors, but so far peppermint is just making me happy. Also, if you love pumpkin spice, go to your cabinet. I’ve been using a dash of pumpkin spice in my coffee with Truvia and milk, and YUM!
3. Killswitch so far is awesome! It’s what I was hoping it would be, and very dark. *squee*
Yum, Leslie your menu for the week sounds delicious! Iβm doing spaghetti with meat sauce 1 Day this week, a meal from a local food service tonight (probably loaded baked potato and chicken casserole), and weβre eating out for our mini vaca. Iβm totally stopping at chick fil a too! Iβve had it a total of 3 times in my life, so itβs a treat!
Whoops, I suppose that statement was confusing. I meant more good shows in general. Iβd love Luciferβs new season to air, or Atypical, or On My Block, a new movie, something. I feel like Iβve watched everything good.
I knew Glee cancelled, Iβm only in season 3, but I like to switch it up with other shows too.
You should try Romance is a Bonus Book.
1. I listened to The Kiss Quotient audiobook on my drive to Dallas for Holidays with the Belles this weekend and loved it! I thought the narrator was fantastic for Stella. Her “Michael” was lacking a bit, but didn’t really bother me.
2. I ate leftover Chicken Express for breakfast so my week is off to a great start! π
3. I’m power writing today! And if things go as planned, Nay will have the final in 3 weeks! #woop
R…
SQUEEEEEE!!! :D!!!!!
Iβll try it later tonight, Bev!
I just ordered a vday gift box of Universal Yums on a whim, darn ads! Looks like fun though. Anyone ever tried one of those snack boxes from somewhere different in the world?
Homemade spaghetti sauce is cooking in my crockpot today. It makes me so happy. I’ll have spaghetti squash and my boys will undoubtedly need “real” pasta π
I have a few books cooking. One of which is Kill Switch…it’s so good!
I was coming on here to say hello and post my three things but just saw R’s post and OMG now that makes my heart happy!!!!! Lucky Nay π
Okay so my 3 things-
1-I read Midnight Valentine over the weekend with the girls (MicheleG, Nay, Grey, and Judy-and I think we had a couple lurkers π ) I was unsure of my rating on this for a few reasons so I slept on it-although I wanted more at the end it was still a solid 4* for me. I wish I could list all the things I highlighted….some made me cry and others made me laugh.
2-Had a little stressful moment with my fur-baby Sadie yesterday; after a visit to the emergency vet clinic and x-ray’s she is okay. Just have to keep her mellow for a few days for her leg to heal as she hyper-extended it and has not been able to walk on it.
3-Currently finishing up Boys of Bradshaw High and I LOVE IT! Then I am on to Unbreakable by Emma Scott-been dying to read this one but with her books I always like to read them when I don’t have a lot going on because everything seems to suffer in my life when I start anything she writes.
Oh noooo Jenn!! I’m so glad that’s all it is. My fur-babies are my whole heart and I hate when one isn’t feeling well. It worries me so much.
1-Craving some garlic, parm, olive oil and angel hair pasta.
2-Woke up at 7, make coffee, laid down while it perked and woke up again at almost 10! Must have been tired!
3-Looking forward to a weekend in St. Augustine next weekend. I’ve never been.
Now I’m craving that too, Steph! π
just noticed my error-above…It is *Brayshaw*
I am right with you on that Maryse. I have pictures from when my Mia got bit or stung by something on a walk when she was about 1-1/2 years old and had a severe allergic reaction-she actually was unrecognizable from the swelling by the time we arrived at emergency…I thought I was going to lose her. Still to this day I stress over that because I have no idea what it was that caused it and am prettified of it happening again.
#woop!
Jenn–I decided on 4 for Midnight Valentine too. Just haven’t marked it yet. It’s a quick, angsty at times, well-written AND well-edited read. I recommend to everyone except Leslie (and that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s any certain thing that happens in it–it’s just the general tone of it that I’m pretty sure Leslie wouldn’t care for).
Jenn, does she have an emergency EpiPen just in case?
Okay, music. I just heard Billie Ellish’s Bury a Friend. Honestly didn’t like it because it was more synth than anything, BUT! I think if she didn’t get permission from The Doors she’s going to be sued majorly. The beginning is People are Strange. I thought she did a cover, but nope. The only mention I see is she and her producer wrote it. *shrugs*
Nay, you are correct! I read spoilers and I am not interested in that one. I love that you know what I like.
My 18 pound dog was attacked by a 150 pound dog while we were walking (on a leash) in my neighborhood. I tried to get between them and got a huge bite on my calf. My husband didnβt understand why I would get between them and I told him I would do it again. I was ok but put on antibiotics for puncture wounds. Ever since though, Iβm so stressed when I see other dogs on our walk. Iβm prepared to pick her up or throw my body over hers lol!!!!! Puppy love.
Tessa-yes I have one for her but I hope I never have to use it.
LisafromDFW-lol that is so me-I would do that too-this has happened to me 4 times in my neighborhood and since I will not deprive my dogs of their walks-I take my anxiety induced self and go!
1. I liked bev’s rec of Romance Is a Bonus Book on Netflix. I will watch more eps. *hugs bev* Thank you. I would never have noticed that show otherwise. bev, you’ve changed your pic on here!
2. Just read a hockey romance recently recced on here. Puck Me Secretly by Odette Stone. Silly book title, but a nice read. New author to me, too.
3. I’m HANGING OUT for the next book in series by one of my fav authors. Devil’s Daughter by Lisa Kleypas is out on Feb 19th and I CAN’T WAIT!!!!! If any of you remember one of her most loved previous books, Devil In Winter, this one is about Evie and Sebastian’s daughter. It’s a HR, in case you hadn’t guessed…….
Lisa, what a horrible experience. Poor you and your poor little dog!
Yeah, a pic of the sky when I went for a walk. It probably won’t last long. It is fun to change it up but I also know how I get so used to how everyone “looks.”
I’m glad you liked the show. It makes me want to go coat shopping even though it is now nearing spring. I’m just loving the prints and color.
Tash, I haven’t but have been tempted too. I will look at treats on Amazon and be really tempted to buy. If you do let us know what you get. I do like surprise boxes.
Sort of like how you can order things from famous bakeries. Like a Momofuku cake, but would it live up to hype?
Tash = Tasha.
I dont even know.
LOL! What on earth is a Momofuku cake? That sounds like a bad word! π Honestly, I wanted to gift it to myself. But, that would be selfish, right? Plus, I seem to lack control when it comes to snacks, theyβd be gone in a day or 2 here. But, I will have a taste for sure! This box will be from Italy. I think I should make a real occasion of the day itβs delivered, no?? Then itβd be obvious I want it for me.
My new hobby as of late seems to be searching for books, reading synopsisβ and reviews, adding to tbr and collecting as opposed to reading….then I will read a book or 2 and go back to this. How do I control myself??
I watched a show recently and they were eating vietnamese spring rolls. I’m not sure I’d like them but keep thinking of them, lol. Well, won’t touch any seafood but could try the ones with pork. They just made them seem so good.
Tasha–I’m so great at collecting too. I LOVE to do it! On some days I love it more than reading.
I search for a book that I know is really angsty, then I scroll down the page to the reviews and looks for people’s ‘angst’ shelves and I search them. Then I search Listopia lists.
I do it for whatever trope I happen to be in the mood for, but I’m so sad when I get to someone’s shelf that’s titled something like “angstiest books in the universe” and their GR profile is set to ‘private’ π
Yes, I seem to enjoy it too. The problem is, I feel like Iβm guiltily wasting time reading about books as opposed to reading the actual books I have. Lol!
Maryse…
I cannot believe how stupid the parents were in ABDUCTED IN PLAIN SIGHT. Totally their fault. I donβt care that it was a different time, you donβt let an older male friend of the family do things with and to your daughter like that. Couldnβt believe it!
Sorry, just had to get had out. Of course in my world bad words were said.
