Happy *yawn* Monday!
Pass the coffee please.
Good morning! I’m starting “If You Say So” today. Going to see what all the fuss is about.
Nay! I’ve just started it, too. 🙂
Mmhmm..I texted my hubby to please bring me a latte on his way home. The toddler slept amazingly last night. Though, I moved him downstairs to our bed while I seize the living room. J baby on the other hand, wished me not to sleep. And so here I am! Lol
I’m in the mood for a Tessa Bailey, I think. Or an MC or something.
Ahh, you brave girl, Nay! I read almost all the bad reviews on GR trying to find a spoiler, message me when you’re done if it’s worth it!
Oh Nay, I am curious to see what all the fuss is about.
I always feel badly for authors when they receive bad reviews for well-written books just because their story line doesn’t fit the ‘mold’ for what is expected. And some of them even receive bad reviews for what should be expected, like the 1-star reviews I often see for a biker/MC book because it’s too taboo in some way. Uhhh, it’s a biker book that meant to be dark and gritty and ‘go there’…
So anyway, I’m anxious to give this author a chance. And one thing that made me want to read it even more was finding out that she also writes as Emma Grayson and I read two of her books back in 2013 and loved both of them.
Oh I didn’t realize that, Nay!!! And I’m with you. I just want a story to be captivating and real and if it stuns me, then so be it. P.S. I like that!! 😉
Will do, Tasha!
Tasha, should we guess based on the blurb?
1. Everything is tense with her ex….is this the reason? No. They made it…..but he needs to do just one more fight. The author is a Rocky fan and decides her hero’s story ends like Apollo Creed.
2. The ex kills him.
3. The author is a kdrama fan and when everything seems fine the hero just tries to cross the street and is taken out by the truck of doom.
Nay – right? Why even read an MC book if you don’t like gritty? Makes no sense.
I am reading a light, funny romance. I needed something like that after the wringer that The Ribbon Series put me through. It’s called Good Two Shoes, by J.E. Henderson. He’s a famous singer who is ready to settle down and wants a sensible wife, likes the idea of old fashioned arranged marriages. She’s s very sensible Scottish lass who wears grey a lot. Ha! The small town in Scotland and the crew of misfits who is helping with the wedding is hilarious.
That sounds adorable MichelleS.
It’s number 2! Has to be a death. OR, it’s an amazing whirlwind of a romance, the ex comes back, Jay “takes care of him” and he’s sent to prison. The end. Lol
That does sound good MichelleS.
Bev, I totally did not flake on Secretary Kim btw. It was just a rough weekend. I’m kid free (except for the baby) for like an hour tonight, as long as the baby doesn’t need to eat or something, I’m going to try again. It’s harder w/subtitles Bc I have to really pay attention and there’s always chaos around me somewhere.
I’m out of the loop. Who wrote it Nay?
Oh and Full Tilt is FREE until the 15th.
Ooh, good one. Then while he is away she falls for someone new.
It dies take more concentration. I can do things like wash dishes while I watch….well sometimes. Depends on show. But I forget sometimes that I do not understand and will try and walk away while still paying attention, lol .
Cleaning and have music on shuffle.
But curious when cleaning what do you all like? Music? Tv? Audio books?
Hrmm….
I think just TV playing in the background. Keeping me company. Usually cooking or home reno shows which gives me that extra incentive and enthusiasm. 😉
Silence. I like silence. Lol
I settled on Alessandra Torre’s Even Money. And, I preordered Lying in Wait for tomorrow’s release. I’m so psyched about this book, I hope it lives up to the hype.
Cleaning is faster with music. lol Though, maybe not because if a song I don’t like that is in your face comes on, I stop what I’m doing and change it. The bad songs are rarely in your face, however. Usually they are just background boring.
I have to say, I downloaded as much as I could from your song list the other day, Bev, and I absolutely love Dark Side of the Moon.
Maryse and Nay, I can’t wait to hear what you think of If You Say So. I’m a sucker for non-traditional endings which don’t wrap up perfectly with a pretty bow!
In fact, I’m not far into my current read and thereby not really invested, so maybe I’ll join you guys…
Yes!!! Er… sorry… fell asleep. YES JOIN US AMY!!
When cleaning I like the TV on for background noise, usually the ID channel. I even use the ID channel app on my iPad when I’m in a room without a TV.
I’m totally clicking Child Thief. Dystopian with a completely unique plot. Oh yes.
I love that song Tasha. So simple but says so much. I’m so glad you like it.
Let me know if you get another chance with Secretary Kim, lol.
If I have tv shows playing I like old favorites like Gilmore Girls or The Golden Girls.
I’m almost ready to ask for a number. I’ve read a bunch of good books lately… Nothing wrong with them… But I’m ready to be kicked, you know? I need one that is gonna wow me. R has just been teasing about the New Camelot series on FB and making me nostalgic… And then I was thinking about the ACOTAR series…and debating about Sarah Maas’ other series… But I don’t know. Maybe something dark or not, I just want a 5… I just want to throw my glitter, dang it!
Grey, have you read Sea of T?
bev, no, i have not… I do own it though…
Both Throne of Glass and Sea of Tranquility were good. Both are more YA than adult, so in those cases it’d be angsty romance of broken people vs angsty action insanity.
Got a bully, Tessa?
I agree with Tessa – both Throne of Glass and Sea of Tranquility were good. But def more YA.
I say go with Sea of T. One of the blog favorites across the board. I mean I’m sure some on here do not care for it, but one that many with different taste did. Ah, back in my lurker days.
https://www.maryse.net/books/book-review-the-sea-of-tranquility-by-katja-millay.html
Grey, I’ve heard SJM’s other series is just as enjoyable. Dang, craving that book love or book wow and not finding it is worse than having a back itch you can’t reach to scratch. 😕
Okay, I just noticed the cover for IYSS is the same one used for Evol, which I just finished. It’s a sign, I tell ya. I’m jumping in the Say So blankie fort with you guys! 😀
AMY!!!!!!!!!!
Grey, you know that as soon as I find one, I’ll tell you. 🙂 I was looking and realized I still need to read the second book of the Carter Kids. His twin is the bully to the MC, not him, so it doesn’t really qualify.
Maybe at the beginning, he was a bully? I forget. I need to re-read it.
GREY GREY GREY!!!! YOU HAVEN’T READ NERO? DO IT! NOW!
Grey, you have a lot of goodies on your TBR. I could rec quite a few depending on your mood. 😉
Bev, always audiobooks for me when I clean (cook/laundry etc). They keep me company and distract my brain so I dont get as grumpy doing my chores! 🙂
Yyyyyyyessssss??
Oooooooh, YES! Sea of Tranquility is a must-read!!
Also, Grey, have you read Edge of Never? It’s another much-loved, swoonie oldie.
*spits coffee*
‘The author is a kdrama fan and when everything seems fine the hero just tries to cross the street and is taken out by the truck of doom.’
bev, bev, bev. You made me laugh. *hugs bev*
Michelle I looked up that cute sounding book you’re reading and ITS FREE so I 1-clicked. Thank you.
Grey / I say GO FOR IT with Sarah J Maas’s other series, Throne of Glass. I loved that one as much as ACOTR. Kick ass female characters, and beyond yummy male characters. And the Fae. Mic drop….
Jan- yup. It’s free. And I’m enjoying the pure old fashioned romance with humor mixed in. Impromptu girl’s night at the castle. Bon Fire. Doors being removed. Paparazzi dodging. Hilarious.
I guess character death by getting run over are so prevalent in k dramas that it is called the truck of doom.
https://www.dramabeans.com/2018/01/in-defense-of-the-truck-of-doom/
I love it Bev! Your taste in music is cool in my book 😉 That song and other oldies like it always give me a nostalgic feeling of being at my aunt and uncle’s. We were so close w/my cousin growing up, we were more like siblings and this is the music they listened to. They were always in the living room in their chairs with the tv on golf, muted, and the music on with my aunt reading a book. Comforting, feel good music. 🙂
*you’re. I do know the difference. We’ll blame it on sleep deprivation. 😉
Nope. That’s sleep deprivation. My brain is not working. I’m tapping out. Hahaha
