Good morning!
So I devoured the final 30% of If You Say So on Saturday night, and I have to say that as a reader who appreciates diversity in a story line and an author who’ll stay true to their vision (the end of this book was written first–it was the one part that the author knew wouldn’t change), I loved the last part of the book and it definitely affected me in a big way!
It took a bit for me to get going because the beginning seems somewhat ‘been there done that’, but I appreciated the fact that the book was only the heroine’s pov and the creativity of the plot, although I did guess the what and how of the ending. (If I hadn’t know that people were talking about it, I probably wouldn’t have, though.)
Ends up that I loved it! I just wish the entire book would have been as exciting as the 2nd half and that the ending was a little more fleshed out.
The news is breaking my heart right now.
On the lighter side….nothing is catching my eye which is good. I’ve been buying again, but my reading has not caught up.
Definitely need coffee this morning.

Good morning from gloomy north Texas! I read your Friday post – summer TBR. I can only think one book at a time, so I have no list. Boo. Except Ravensong. That I will read when it’s released. I’ll put down whatever I’m reading to devour that one.

I’m trying to get out of my reading slump from last week and kickin’ it old style by reading A Year and a Day by Virginia Henley. Yes, I’ve resorted to my old tried and true historicals. Still waiting for ” the one” book that knocks my socks off! Maybe this slump is good because I’m not spending money on books…..no, I lied, books are good! LOL
LOL Robyn!! I’ve spent a bit in the last week… but my spending is on more expensive books that were on sale!! I bought at least 4 of ’em in 3 days. LOL!

Well, I didn’t stop reading it once I started. It was hilarious! I like how it pokes fun at the usual romance tropes and yet still manages to play out a lot of them and not be too corny, but funny. There’s a lot of cursing and probably some more crass moments, but I didn’t even mind. Sometimes that stuff annoys me. I loved the crazy heroine and “that guy”. Lol, the anger from him was so good. I have country family, and some of the stuff she says totally fits in with them. Haha..The “watermelon crawl” song is now stuck in my head.

It really depends on the book. The lighter ones read faster and it was only 300 pages. I started early and 1 left for a couple hours for swim practice. The baby sleeps all day and the toddler refused to do anything but watch tv and whine. The older one did my chores (sweeping/folding laundry). I did pause to feed ppl. Lol
Yay, Maryse! I hope you enjoy it! And speaking of John Mayer–he hosted HQ with Scott last night for $25,000. And guess what? I got out on question 7–like I ALWAYS do! lol
I played with John, Nay!!!!! I have a crush on him… I dunno. LOL! I DO. I lasted until the Ding-Dong. Grrrrrrr!

Well I devoured Rising and Reckoning by Jessica Ruben over the weekend!!! Now I’m in a bratty mood because I have no idea when Redemption will be released!! Total CH!! I didn’t listen to my logical inner voice saying “wait until series is complete!!!” Nooooooo too impatient!!! UGH!! Did the same dang thing last week with Folsom!!!
But was it gooooood Linda? Worth the cliffhanger??? :D!!!!
And now the oldest is at a swim meet and we’re just chillin’ till about 8, that’s when J likes to be up. And cranky until about 11. He needs a bath tonight too and he gets really mad about that. And the toddler is still difficult. And I have to remember to do ear drops when the oldest returns. Usually the baby screams while I do that Bc he likes to be held and there is no one to pass him to. And the kids stress about that. Bedtime is the worst now and it used to be my favorite. Ah well, today was a good day.
Just three more days until school is out!!! Can’t wait. My daughter will be starting a Forensic science program next week that I have to drive over an hour to; so I think I will be listening to books to pass the time (after I drop her off, don’t think she would appreciate listening to my books)!

Okay. I finished Leaving to Stay. Def don’t recommend it. May, I know, right? Do people think that y’all is just Southern for you? Seriously? The last book that did that (that I remember) was the original edition of Amy A Bartol’s Premonition. But I LOOOOOOVED that book so I stuck with it. And there was only one character who was supposed to be southern rather than the entire cast.
Maryse–I missed the one right after the one you missed. About daddy longlegs (or granddaddy longlegs, as we call them).
Did you watch the entire show? If so, I thought the part at the end with Scott’s dad was cute.

I also read The One by John Marrs. It was a bit predictable, but different. I feel kinda unfinished Bc I have some lingering questions… I don’t like unanswered questions at the end of a story.
