*slurs sleepily*

Please pass the coffee

Tasha J June 18, 2018 at 6:47 AM

Yes, the new Alessandra Torre! I read Even Money last week and it ended on a pretty big cliffy…That Guy by Kim Jones also released today. Sounds good- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DTF7J4X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1529322311&sr=8-1&keywords=that+guy+kim+jones

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 7:33 AM

Tasha YESS!!!! Kim Jones! Thank you for reminding me!!! I’ma adding it now.

Leslie M June 18, 2018 at 7:51 AM

Yes Tasha, That Guy is a def blurb jolt for me as well as Mister Tonight.

Nay June 18, 2018 at 8:38 AM

Good morning!

So I devoured the final 30% of If You Say So on Saturday night, and I have to say that as a reader who appreciates diversity in a story line and an author who’ll stay true to their vision (the end of this book was written first–it was the one part that the author knew wouldn’t change), I loved the last part of the book and it definitely affected me in a big way!

It took a bit for me to get going because the beginning seems somewhat ‘been there done that’, but I appreciated the fact that the book was only the heroine’s pov and the creativity of the plot, although I did guess the what and how of the ending. (If I hadn’t know that people were talking about it, I probably wouldn’t have, though.)

Ends up that I loved it! I just wish the entire book would have been as exciting as the 2nd half and that the ending was a little more fleshed out.

bev June 18, 2018 at 8:44 AM

The news is breaking my heart right now.

On the lighter side….nothing is catching my eye which is good. I’ve been buying again, but my reading has not caught up.

Definitely need coffee this morning.

Oh, and Havana has been in my head all weekend. Thanks Maryse.

MichelleS June 18, 2018 at 10:54 AM

Good morning from gloomy north Texas! I read your Friday post – summer TBR. I can only think one book at a time, so I have no list. Boo. Except Ravensong. That I will read when it’s released. I’ll put down whatever I’m reading to devour that one.

Current read – A Court of Frost & Starlight. Busy weekend, still not finished!

MichelleS June 18, 2018 at 10:56 AM

Speaking of Ravensong… it’s up for preorder on Amazon, but only as a paperback? Ick. I need digital format. My eyes are old. I don’t want to turn pages either.

R. Renee June 18, 2018 at 10:57 AM

Oooh I want the paperback and the ebook. I wonder if he’s offering a discount if you buy the PB first. I also need to re-read Wolfsong because I have book amnesia.

R. Renee June 18, 2018 at 10:59 AM

Whoa! I spent $20 for the WS PB! Ravensong os $7 and says “mass market.” I wonder if that has something to do with his new publisher. Doesn’t he understand our need to have matching books? Hrrrummphf.

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 11:14 AM

Well Nay. You’ve convinced me and I will continue to read it. :) YAY!!!!!

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 11:15 AM

I find paperbacks go up on preorder, often before the ebook does. I bet it will be up soon. :)

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 11:16 AM

LOL bev!!!

Me too. That, and “In Repair” by John Mayer. One upbeat kind of sexy song (I want to cha-cha to it SO bad!!!), and one soulful (makes me heart swell).

Tasha J June 18, 2018 at 11:35 AM

I’m reading That Guy…this chick is batsh!t crazy, lol!!

Leslie M June 18, 2018 at 11:47 AM

Ooooh Tasha, let me know how you like it as I want to read that one.

Diana June 18, 2018 at 11:58 AM

Just started reading Leaving to Stay by Nicole Casey & I’m SO DISTRACTED/ANNOYED by her constant, improper use of “y’all”!!! Y’all is plural, never singular. It’s a contraction of you all. Sheesh!!!! If it’s a big group you modify it to “all y’all”

Seriously pisses me off so much more than your/you’re, Bc I can pretend that’s a typo. This is just ignorance!!!!!

Tasha J June 18, 2018 at 12:24 PM

Will do Leslie!

Robyn June 18, 2018 at 1:17 PM

I’m trying to get out of my reading slump from last week and kickin’ it old style by reading A Year and a Day by Virginia Henley. Yes, I’ve resorted to my old tried and true historicals. Still waiting for ” the one” book that knocks my socks off! Maybe this slump is good because I’m not spending money on books…..no, I lied, books are good! LOL

MichelleS June 18, 2018 at 3:18 PM

Okay, compiling a TBR for summer since the pressure is on!

1. Finish the New Camelot Series
2. Finish the Crossbreed Series
3. Finish Experiment in Terror Series (1.5 books to go, been putting it off FOREVUH)
4. Chaos Book 4 by KA in July
5. A Time Travel Highlander book – maybe the Novels of Loch Moigh.
6. RAVENSONG!!!

Tasha J June 18, 2018 at 3:54 PM

Well, I didn’t stop reading it once I started. It was hilarious! I like how it pokes fun at the usual romance tropes and yet still manages to play out a lot of them and not be too corny, but funny. There’s a lot of cursing and probably some more crass moments, but I didn’t even mind. Sometimes that stuff annoys me. I loved the crazy heroine and “that guy”. Lol, the anger from him was so good. I have country family, and some of the stuff she says totally fits in with them. Haha..The “watermelon crawl” song is now stuck in my head.

Leslie M June 18, 2018 at 4:22 PM

Jeesh Tasha, already finished? How do you take care of 3 kids and also read that fast?

Tasha J June 18, 2018 at 4:53 PM

It really depends on the book. The lighter ones read faster and it was only 300 pages. I started early and 1 left for a couple hours for swim practice. The baby sleeps all day and the toddler refused to do anything but watch tv and whine. The older one did my chores (sweeping/folding laundry). I did pause to feed ppl. Lol

Nay June 18, 2018 at 5:08 PM

Yay, Maryse! I hope you enjoy it! And speaking of John Mayer–he hosted HQ with Scott last night for $25,000. And guess what? I got out on question 7–like I ALWAYS do! lol

Nay June 18, 2018 at 5:12 PM

Btw, I’m reading The Idea of You. I’m 27% in, and so far, so good!

Diana–OMG, that would drive me CRAZY to read that. I’d have to stop. That’s a huge error to us southerners!

Linda June 18, 2018 at 5:14 PM

Well I devoured Rising and Reckoning by Jessica Ruben over the weekend!!! Now I’m in a bratty mood because I have no idea when Redemption will be released!! Total CH!! I didn’t listen to my logical inner voice saying “wait until series is complete!!!” Nooooooo too impatient!!! UGH!! Did the same dang thing last week with Folsom!!!

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 5:53 PM

But was it gooooood Linda? Worth the cliffhanger??? :D !!!!

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 5:54 PM

I played with John, Nay!!!!! I have a crush on him… I dunno. LOL! I DO. I lasted until the Ding-Dong. Grrrrrrr!

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 5:56 PM

LOL Robyn!! I’ve spent a bit in the last week… but my spending is on more expensive books that were on sale!! I bought at least 4 of ‘em in 3 days. LOL!

Tasha J June 18, 2018 at 6:17 PM

And now the oldest is at a swim meet and we’re just chillin’ till about 8, that’s when J likes to be up. And cranky until about 11. He needs a bath tonight too and he gets really mad about that. And the toddler is still difficult. And I have to remember to do ear drops when the oldest returns. Usually the baby screams while I do that Bc he likes to be held and there is no one to pass him to. And the kids stress about that. Bedtime is the worst now and it used to be my favorite. Ah well, today was a good day.

Cheryl June 18, 2018 at 7:35 PM

Just three more days until school is out!!! Can’t wait. My daughter will be starting a Forensic science program next week that I have to drive over an hour to; so I think I will be listening to books to pass the time (after I drop her off, don’t think she would appreciate listening to my books)!

Started Even Money. A little slow to start and the formatting seemed to take me a while to get used to it. ?Too much space between short paragraphs??

bev June 18, 2018 at 7:36 PM

Lol. MichelleS is being peer pressured into making a tbr.

Diana June 18, 2018 at 7:46 PM

Okay. I finished Leaving to Stay. Def don’t recommend it. May, I know, right? Do people think that y’all is just Southern for you? Seriously? The last book that did that (that I remember) was the original edition of Amy A Bartol’s Premonition. But I LOOOOOOVED that book so I stuck with it. And there was only one character who was supposed to be southern rather than the entire cast.

Nay June 18, 2018 at 7:47 PM

Maryse–I missed the one right after the one you missed. About daddy longlegs (or granddaddy longlegs, as we call them).

Did you watch the entire show? If so, I thought the part at the end with Scott’s dad was cute.

Cheryl–what year of school is this? My son’s high school got out a month ago.

Diana June 18, 2018 at 7:47 PM

Ugh, it cut off my comment.
I also read The One by John Marrs. It was a bit predictable, but different. I feel kinda unfinished Bc I have some lingering questions… I don’t like unanswered questions at the end of a story.

R. Renee June 18, 2018 at 7:50 PM

OMG NAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m printing this out and framing it! I’ve always called them granddaddy longlegs and my husband laughs his a$$ off at me! I knew I couldn’t be the only one! I also say long handle underwear, but he may be right about that one…

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 8:00 PM

HQ TIME!!!!!!

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 8:05 PM

dragon baskets. *snort*

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 8:08 PM

DARNIT BLACK ROCK!!!!!

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 8:09 PM

Why am I only 6 questions smart every time???? GRRRRRR!!!!!

Maryse June 18, 2018 at 8:10 PM

I am HALF-smart! *hrmph*

*sigh* back to building the new release list… at least I can read. ;)

Cheryl June 18, 2018 at 8:59 PM

Nay, my daughter was out of school the first week of June. The school district I work in gets out this week. Damn snow days that added to the end of the school year!!

R. we always called them granddaddy long legs too.

R. Renee June 18, 2018 at 9:00 PM

Ha!! Thanks Cheryl!

Jan June 19, 2018 at 1:14 AM

Granddaddy long legs? Haven’t heard that one. We just call em daddy long legs. I haven’t heard long handle underwear either.

Leslie M June 19, 2018 at 3:04 AM

All the schools near me are still in because of all the snow days. My sons HS ends this thursday.

Nay June 19, 2018 at 6:28 AM

Wow! That’s a lot of snow days, but thinking back, we did have quite a bit this school year.

Maryse–I missed the notification last night for HQ, but I’m the same as you, 6 questions every time.

Sorry, Robin–never heard of long handle underwear, but it did come up a few times when I googled it.
