I’m first! That is all…
LOL!!!
What’s with all the Reverse Harem books? It’s the new billionaire or stepbrother theme? Ha! Haven’t read any yet.
Yes you have… 😛 Trickery is a reverse harem book. I do like them, though I am picky since quite a few are very easy to forget. Also, most are paranormal, so I started noticing them early.
Right? LOL! I just have a hard time (hee-hee :P) getting into the whole male submissive or male sex slave thing. NOT knocking anyone who can, it just doesn’t work for me. *shrugs*
I started The Ghost Bird series because with how somber things have been the last few days, reading a gut-wrencher just didn’t sound appealing nor did a funny read. So, good ol’ tried-and-true UF it is.
Amy, that’s part of my picky. If they are submissive in any way, Nope! lol That’s why I like the ones I do. They are usually very dominant men and it just works. 🙂 Though a few authors I love are doing it too, and it isn’t as good when some of them do it.
They have to have:
1. Dominant men only
2. Fully developed characters and believable relationships with each guy his own person. This might seem obvious, but I’ve seen some where there is no reason these guys would even be near each other let alone stand a reverse harem type situation.
3. NO FAVORITES! Because, if so, just pick your favorite and let the others have a girl who loves them. That’s just messed up to have a favorite and make the others feel like less than.
4. She has to have a personality. No Mary Sues. Ghost Bird series she started very Mary Sue but started to have an actual personality, so that was good. Though, it broke the fifth rule for me.
5. No teenagers with authority figure adults as well as teenagers. Just… NO! I’ve seen this a lot! I love him, he’s my age, but also, I love his guy who is twelve years older than me! I will have both and their best friends too! Uh… no. Pick one age.
(Number one is most important. I do not like reading ANY book with submissive males.)
Oh, Checking In by Stylo Fantome just went live today. 🙂
Finished a book off of my summer TBR. Now need to pick another one. Yay.
For Game of Thrones fans:

No clue what I feel like reading… it’s too early for July challenges. Hmmm…*puts on thinking cap*
I want some feels (like Ghosted) but nothing too emotional or depressing (like Fult Tilt or Behind the Bars).
I just heard the news about one of our favorite authors, Emma Scott’s daughter. I am so heartbroken over this news. I can’t even begin to imagine what she and her family are going through. If you haven’t heard, you can read all the updates and such on her facebook page. This was the first place I went to after hearing so we as readers can come together to remember and pray for this family.
I think I’m leaning towards All In. It’s been on my tbr for awhile. And love the thought of reading a translated CR.
But could also go to Most of All You by Mia Sheridan. Or maybe western…..
Bev, Begin Again by Mona Kasten was translated from German….. just sayin’.
Tessa, I am in total agreement with your assessment. No submissive men!
Reading Beautiful Player after a HUGE push from some of you. LOVING IT SO HARD!!! (No comments please Amy). Seriously, this book is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Bev – thanks for that link. I love GoT and am a huge fan of this couple.
Tessa – Trickery was a DNF for me. Oops. My bad! Reverse Harem is just not my thing. I want only ONE man to love in my books. Unless it’s a love triangle, which I occasionally do. Rarely.
I have that one Jean. Didn’t realize it was a translation. I’m not sure why I have the book, lol. Maybe cause you rec’d it?
Getting Schooled…..i wonder if that is the one Amy was trying to remember?
Bev, it was probably me. I loved that book and tried getting everyone to read it!
*hee-hee* Jean said SO HARD! 😛 Come on, my friend…you had to know saying “no comments” would bring on the comments! Okay, I’ll click Getting Schooled to make up for it. 😉
bev…I was checking out the pictures this weekend. *dreamy sigh* Such an sweet couple and a beautiful wedding.
Tessa…you know my PNR/UF tastes, so so you think I’m going to like Ghost Bird?
Stephanie, we’ve been keeping updated here about Emma’s daughter. And like you said, coming together to try and wrap our heads around it and offer words of comfort and support for her. Glad you joined us for it. *hugs*
Amy and Tessa are you talking about the Ghost Bird series by CL Stone? If so, I’ve read all the books. It’s not PNR/UF. It’s a reverse harem type thing. It’s starting to slow down for me. The h needs to get a move on with these guys to keep my interest going.
I’m looking forward to Ali Deans new book coming out on the 28th called The Line Below. It’s about a college swimmer who falls for an Olympic track star. It’s keeping with the sports theme romances!
What. The. $&@#??? Ghost Bird is a reverse harem?!? 😯 She’s a teenager!!!
Amy, there is a series called Ghostbird series, which is no way related to that book. 🙂 The other one is non-PNR and is about kids who are basically spies cleaning up schools. It’s odd but works except when their mentors also had a thing for the girl. Then it stopped working for me. 🙂
WAIT. Yeah, that’s not PNR and it will probably not be what you want.
Michelle, but do you see what I meant by none of them are submissive?
And Amy! The boys aren’t her first kiss. The school counselor is!
I don’t think reverse harem always means she uses them like a harem. But that the guys around her all show interest in her.
I don’t like teenagers and harem in the same sentence. *shakes head* It’s just wrong.
Okay, Ghost Bird is NOT a PNR/UF? They are spies cleaning up schools?
Amy, are you looking for something to read?
If Ghost Bird isn’t what I thought it would be, then yes. 😕
Have you read Ghosted or Until it Fades? They are both on my summer tbr. We never buddy read…..
Unless your looking for YA and you know what I’d say, right?
Yes, I know exactly what you would say. 😉
And I read Ghosted and Until It Fades (last year, I believe) and loved, loved, LOVED them both!!
Hey there!
So… I’m a huge fan of Maryse’s blog since ever… But never commented here… I’m also from Brazil, so sorry in advance for my English…
YAY!!! Welcome Jojo!!! I am thrilled you’re with us, my friend!!! 😀
Amy, if you want YA PNR, Poison Princess by Kresley Cole. I can’t recommend this series enough! It is unlike any book I’ve read, as far as the paranormal aspect. Just READ!
Hi Jojo!!
Hey Jojo. Nice to hear from you!
Jean, so GLAD you’re finally reading Beautiful Player. WILL SUMNER!!!!!!!! Yessssss.
I just read the new release Part 2 of Lauren Gilley’s Prodigal Son. It’s great, but so so suddenly got to the end :/ Part 3 (of 4) is “coming soon” 🙁 Just wish it had all been released at once. Oh well. It’s still great. Love the Lean Dogs books.
I’m going to try Getting Schooled. I haven’t loved all of Emma Chase’s books I’ve tried, but the blurb of this one sucked me in. (nothing to do with the hot guy on the cover…..) Yep, I’m a sucker for a good blurb LOL.
Hi, Jo Jo
What would you say, bev? Hmmmmmm? lol
