Good morning! Happy Monday! UGH
*holds out coffee mug*
refill please
1. Even though its dreary & cloudy, I love that its FINALLY cooled off enough to open windows. Fresh air feels nice.
2. I think I am going to start an “oldie” from my tbr. Beauty From Pain by Georgia Cates. I hope I like it. *crosses fingers*
3. I am having a problem lately where book starts off good, I’m loving story and then at 50%-ish it tanks. Then I am bored and have hard time finishing but refuse to DNF when I am that far in. What’s up with this??? I don’t get upset when I have to DNF if 1st few chapters don’t appeal to me. But to love beginning then turn into snoozefest?!? Grrrrrrr!!! This has happened with 4 books over the last few weeks! WTAF???
Happy Monday….(not). The rain is ridiculous here!
Leslie, I loved Beauty From Pain, but never read the third book yet. Hope it gets you out of your slump. I’m guessing you won’t be reading the book Maryse just reviewed, My Oxford Years. I think I have to! When Maryse gives a rating like that, it’s just a no- brainer!
I’m still devouring the Driven series….. on book 3….. haven’t had a lot of reading time, but loving it so much! My perfect broken hero!
Jean, you have to!!!! It’s just an amazing, well-rounded, heartfelt, LOADED IN FEELS kind of book. ALL the feels. 😉
1. I was up in the tree house last night and it started pouring. Then I slipped on a step coming down and today everything hurts. Moral of this story? Martinis are evil.
2. I’m reading Beneath Your Beautiful, a debut by Emory Rose, and I’m loving it. It’s sitting at over 4.5 stars on GR, which is crazy high so I couldn’t resist. Leslie, I think you might like it and it’s on KU.
3. I’m also still reading Ravensong and I don’t want it to end so I’m reading it as slowly as possible. I wish I would have gone back and reread Wolfsong first but I was too impatient.
Wicked Fae. Reverse Harem. fae, KU? *clicks*
1. I finished For Fallon by Soraya Naomi last night. Leslie, it was the opposite of yours. The first half was a snooze-fest. Very light with a hint of something bad about to happen, but it just kept staying sweet. Then, a little after 50%, it suddenly started moving BIG TIME. The only reason I didn’t DNF it was because it’s on so many recs for great mafia books. Glad I didn’t. I have For Luca, the second half, but need a PNR right now.
2. I have two books on pre-order coming tomorrow! *dances* The Prince by Jennifer L. Armentrout and Wild Hunger by Chloe Neill. YAY!
3. SLEEP! Little dude goes back to school on Thursday so the alarm is earlier to prepare. I was up all night reading For Fallon (1 am) that I need SLEEEEEEEEEEEP due to the early wake-up.
1. I’m supposed to be mopping. I’ve done a small square. I’ve already done too many chores today and there are so many more and I’m TIRED!
2. I’m preordering this one https://www.amazon.com/Sadie-Courtney-Summers-ebook/dp/B079DVQG97/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1534184210&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=sadie today. I saw 1 review a little while ago that related it to The Female of the Species, BUT stands on its own and that’s enough for me.
3. Is summer over yet?? I can’t stand the heat anymore and I’ve already bought so many fall things. I’m ready for corn mazes and food and spooky stuff galore. And leggings. And hoodies. 😛
Tessa! Dannika Darks Blackout went live early! It’s book 5 in her Crossbreed series. You are reading this series, right?! I adore this series and Christian Poe! I’m starting it right after I finish my Jane Yellowrock book.
I finally succumbed and bought My Oxford Year. Maryse and her review made it too good to pass up!
R. Renee- I haven’t started Ravensong yet. I’m afraid it will end to soon, so I’m saving it and savoring it in my library. I look at my little shiny everyday! LOL
Jean- speaking of the Driven series, did you know that Passionflix made book one into a movie. They are showing 3 parts now (which is the first half of the book) and the last half in September. It was pretty good.
I did 4 things, instead of three!
Ooooh, Thank you Robyn. *says goodbye to money* lol August is so expensive this year.
1) I’m afraid to watch or even look at the previews of Passionflix book movies. I don’t want to ruin the character I have in my head the way Christian was ruined for me.
2) I’m also SO ready for fall. I can’t wait for the temps to stop dropping.
3) I’m finally going to join the party and start Wolfsong today!!
Speaking of Wolfsong–can’t remember if this has been mentioned or not, but it’s on sale at Amazon for $0.99.
Thanks Nay! Eeep! That’s one of the reasons I didn’t re-read it before RS, because I already had the PB and the e-book was $$. Now I’ll read it after to fill in all the blanks.
I did know about the Passionflix movie, but like Nay, afraid it will ruin my images of Colton and Rylee. I love them!
1. My new favorite coup leader
https://youtu.be/e4x_GO8Rl4U
2. I’m not sure I’m ready to go back to work, but ready for fire season to be over.
3. I hate September but love October.
I haven’t listened to it but the current podcast on Smart Bitches is with the author of that Oxford book.
To read it or not? I have it….
And OH MY GOD!
The GROSSEST thing popped up on my phone.
Seriously, I am so follow the rules it’s not funny. But there was two shows I wanted to watch that are not offered on the legal sites I have. I’ve seen others use them so thought ……I Will do it. Two shows no real problem. I mean those weird adds and pop ups,, but ok.
And then…..No No No No!!!!
bev. Was it Dr. Pimple Popper?
I need to find a way to BAN THAT from my Facebook feed. Seriously. I die.
Bev- now I want to know what popped up on your phone?!
Don’t watch the Passionflix movies if you think it will ruin your already established ideas of what the characters should be like. Most of the actors are ok, but you will be disappointed. The movies seem to be getting better as more are released. Maybe by the time they get to the really good authors books I like, the movies will be top notch!
Now we all wanna know what popped up on your phone bev! But at at the same time don’t wanna know. Let’s not go there. *laughs*
Leslie I understand you!! I quite often feel like that. I try the book sample, looks good, then I get to 40%, 50%, 60% and just get sick of it. All over red rover. Couldn’t be bothered finishing. Sometimes I leave it for a while and come back later. And sometimes I just call it. I do have a special go–back-later GR shelf for just these occasions! Sadly, this happens to me quite a bit 🙁
No. No you don’t. It was trying to direct me to a different type of site.
In public. I hope no one was looking over my shoulder. My phone was like….Um, you sure? This could be detrimental to me and you. Think carefully.
I was not thinking anything but ABORT ABORT
Oh dear. In public bev. LOL.
Three things:
1. I’m going to the Romance Writers of Australia Conference in Sydney this weekend. Super excited about it. I’ve never been to anything like this before and I can’t wait. Have to make sure I don’t go all fangirly on the authors. But Grace Burrowes will be there – a fav HR author. I’ll try to be mature and well-behaved LOL.
2. One of my sons is home from uni at the moment on mid term break. He has brought his girlfriend with him and she’s just lovely. 🙂
3. We watched The Empire Strikes Back last night. Old Star Wars movie. Trip down memory lane.
For those of you with KU, Beth Flynn has put her MC series The Nine Minute Triligy on KU. I have the first book but was holding off until I had all the books. Yeah!
Thank you Kathy! 🙂
I wish Maryse.
I wish.
Now I’m DYING to know!!!
Curiosity killed that cat, and all that, but I must know. Maybe you can tell us in code, and we can try to decipher it. 😛
Oh Maryse, you sweet thing…Dr. Pimple Popper! LOL
My mind went to waaay darker things than that! Hehe
Jean, ya….My Oxford Year is not my type of book. 😉
R, A treehouse?!? Is it like a reading fort? Hee hee. I will check out Beaneath Your Beautiful, thanks! I still need to read the vampire biker who snowboards one! *giggles*
Funny you guys mentioned Driven on Passionflix. I meant to ask what everyone thought of trailer. I thought it was (to quote my son’s favorite word) cringey. Pleh!
Bev, my imagination is running wild…
Jan, *hugs* you get me!! 🙂
It’s really just a double decker deck in a tree, but I call it a treehouse because it was the compromise for tearing down the one I had as a kid.
I’m almost at 40% and still really liking it, but I got the final ARC of Bring Down the Stars last night and started reading that again too. With an audiobook and Ravensong, that makes 4 books being read simultaneously. It’s a record!
Dr Pimple Popper????? Really???? I haven’t come across that one yet (and can I say I hope I never do????) LOL. But I agree Robyn. My mind went darker than that too. Ha ha ha.
I’m unsure about My Oxford Year. I kinda like the look of it, but kinda scared???? Anyway *shrugs* can’t get it on kindle australia till 27th DECEMBER!!!!!! Oh well.
