<— HAPPY MONDAY and what a happy day it is!!! A few EXTRA exciting new releases that snuck in early (like that one there to the left). ;) Yep. You guessed it. It’s what I’m going to read next! But first… tell me about your weekend. Let’s play “Three Things…” – I’ll start!

1.) I’m also reading a psych-thriller (an ARC) called Cross Her Heart: A Novel (releasing in a week or two), I’m 50% in, and I have NO clue what’s going on. LOL!!! That’s okay… I like it like that! This could go anywhere and I hear the twist is jaw-dropping. Oh how I hope!!!

2.) I’m lonely. ;) My family is gone, and the house is so quiet. It’s peaceful, sure, back to my comfortable routine – and I’m a routine girl for sure, but… I’m lonely.

3.) I want a re-do of the entire last week (from August 11th to the 17th), only because it was so awesome and I want to do it all over again.

  • Bring Down the Stars (Beautiful Hearts Duet Book 1) by Emma Scott <—OH. EM. GEEEEEE!!!!! EMMA SCOTT ALERT!!!! LOOKIT WHAT JUST WENT LIVE!!!!!! Guess what I’m about to start reading? JUST. GUESS!!!! P.S. THE AUTHOR WARNS: THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL LOVE TRIANGLE <— :D !!! YAY US!!! “…He writes as if he can feel my heart, hear its cadence and compose the exact right lyrics to accompany every beat and flow. I’m in love with Connor…so why do I feel an inexplicable pull to his best friend, Weston? Grouchy, sullen, brooding Weston Turner, who could cut you down with a look. Fiercely intelligent with a razor sharp wit and acid tongue, he’s the exact opposite of Connor in every way...”
  • Beauty Found: A Novella (Hades Hangmen 6.5) by Tillie Cole <— TILLIE COLE’S LATEST IS LIVE!!!! “...Recently released from prison, he is lost in a world he no longer knows. He is on his own. Until he picks up a woman hitchhiking on the side of a road. A beauty queen dressed in pink. Susan-Lee Stewart is done with the crowns. She’s done with the glitz and glamor of pageant life. And she’s done with the bruises . . .”
  • Catching Irish: a Summerhaven novella (The Summerhaven Trio Book 4) by Katy Regnery
  • The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Fall (Nava Katz Book 5) by Deborah Wilde
  • The Identity: Part Two (The Black Unit Series Book 2) by S.E. Lund <— LIVE!! HEY WANT HIM CAPTURED BUT SHE’S FALLING FOR HIM… “…The government wants him captured, interrogated and then either imprisoned for life or better yet – executed as a traitor. What she discovers is that Brandon’s everything her supervisor say he is, but he’s also so much more. He’s a spy, a patriot, a war hero. And she’s falling in love with him, despite her best intentions...”
  • Heartbreaker (Rascals Book 3) by Katie McCoy <— LIVE!! THIS SERIES? FIVE GUYS. ONE BAR!!! HE’S HER BOSS… “…My bartending gig at Rascals was supposed to be a fresh start for me. Now I’m juggling drink orders AND red-hot sexual tension – but I refuse to let Liam’s smoldering stares throw me off my game… Until one late night leads to another. And another. Liam has a reputation as Mr Heartbreaker, but he’s revealing a whole new side of himself...”
  • Over the Edge: (The Edge Book 4) by C.D. Reiss <— C.D. REISS ALERT!! Her latest is LIVE!! P.S. With this new release, the series is NOW COMPLETE!!

Marina: Finished Rough Edge, after Cutting Edge and holy **** this series is nuts. So incredibly intense. I had to step aside for moments. I’ve been trying to find funny light reads lately but this story is so gripping I could not not know what would happen.

Susan: I just finished the prequel Cutting Edge and Rough Edge by C.D. Reiss and loved them both. Sooooo good… I love when I find a book that I can’t put down and I am supposed to be packing for a trip I leave for in the morning.

  • Hold You Close by Corinne Michaels & Melanie Harlow <— LIVE!!! HE LIVES NEAR HER AND NOW THEY ARE HAVING TO DO SOMETHING HUGELY IMPORTANT TOGETHER... “…Every time I see him climbing out of his pool, practically naked and unreasonably sexy, my blood boils. I’ve always loved to loathe him. I never planned to need him...”
  • Husband Material (Left at the Altar Book 3) by Raine Miller <— LIVE!!! RAINE MILLER ALERT!! “…We had one magical night together…and then she was gone—a French beach fairy who danced away with the dawn. I searched until I found her again. And now I can’t let her go…because maybe I am husband material after all.
  • Satin and Pearls by Lauren Landish <— LIVE!!! FORBIDDENY TEACHER-STUDENT ALERT!! “…I have a confession to make. I hate my math professor, Connor Daniels. From the moment he walked into class, he’s been a thorn in my side, nitpicking every little thing that I do. It burns me how he expects me to be just as perfect as he is. I get that professors are supposed to challenge their students, but he’s such a . . . He’s a prick…”
  • Inferno (A Harmony Love Story) by Angela Graham <— LIVE!!! ANGELA GRAHAM ALERT!! CAN BE READ AS A STANDALONE!! “ only takes a single conversation with the once-shy girl he remembers hanging around when they were kids to spark an undeniable attraction. With shameful secrets and old habits dying hard, they soon realize that if they don’t raise the stakes, one of them will be forced to fold their hand. Some romances burn bright and fizzle fast, but this one’s nothing short of an…inferno…
  • Damaged Heart (A San Diegan Novel Book 3) by S.M. Soto <— LIVE!!
  • His Paradise by Alexa Riley <— LIVE!! ALEXA RILEY ALERT!! “…Nicole has spent her whole life on the island, and now that her grandparents have passed she’s running the Mermaid alone. She’s out of options and money with a forced sale approaching. But one night at the local dive bar, suddenly all her worries are swept away...”
  • Darkest Heart (Dominion) by Juliette Cross <— LIVE!!! CAN BE READ AS A STANDALONE!! “Anya—a stoic, blue-winged angelic warrior—was bitten by a demon prince in battle, and now she has precious little time to find a cure for his deadly venom. But the only archangel with the power to stop the dark poison from corrupting her body and soul is missing. She’ll have to trust her guide, the outcast high demon Dommiel, who is as handsome as he is dangerous if she has any hope…”
  • Reckless (Deathstalkers MC Book 9) by Alexis Noelle <— LIVE!! BIKER CLUB “GIRL”…Forbidden. Off Limits.  Unattainable. Those are the rules. I can’t claim her–a club girl. A club whore if we’re cutting the sh!t. But Carly is different…
  • Flamed with Courage: Notorious Devils (Cash Bar Book 3) by Hayley Faiman
And I’m throwing in a few super-bargains that are to good to miss (in case they expire early!)

  • Ashes & Embers Series Collection (Books 1 to 4) by Carian Cole <— SERIES BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! This series is LOVED by so many in our book-crew and now we can have it ALL. It’s true! ALL!!! “This collection includes the first four complete novels of the Ashes & Embers rock star contemporary romance series – Storm, Vandal, Lukas, and Talon. It also contains a short excerpt from Asher’s upcoming book.”

Kathy P: I have read all of her books. I loved her Ashes and Embers Series.

Steph N: I just tore through this series. Read all four in a matter of days. Loved them.

Michelle T: Me and my 2 book buddies read Torn when it was released and didn’t know of the spin off until the end of Torn so we all went straight to Storm! Lol. Then came Vandal and I Was IN LOVE and thought no way I will like the others better but then came Lukas… WOW! He was my favorite but Vandal & Tor are a close second! Enjoyed them all though

Young: One of my favorite series ever is Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughn. For me, it is right up there with Tairen Soul series.

Amy: Warprize IS really good. Definitely a lighter version of Golden Dynasty but so much fun.

Joanne: This book is amazing! I’ve read & reread it so many times I’ve lost count.

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

Good morning!

3 Things:

1) My weekend was completely uneventful–just the way I love it. I made homemade eggs Benedict for my boys and was able to pull off 3 perfectly poached eggs. I think I finally have the technique down pat.

2) I’m sorry you’re lonely, Maryse. You’re more than welcome to come to Nashville and help pack up 13 years of living to prepare for my wood floor installation next week. I am seriously dreading this!

3) I started binge-watching The Sinner this weekend, and I had to force myself to stop. Such a great series!

Now I’m off to read Bring Down the Stars!

Jean August 20, 2018 at 8:12 AM

Good morning!

1. So tired today after a 4-day fun weekend!

2. Stayed up late reading That Guy! It’s so freaking funny!

3. I CANNOT control my clicker finger with that list up there…. so many I want!

Maryse August 20, 2018 at 9:06 AM

Jean I read That Guy!!! It was good!! :P

Now gonna start this angsty love triangle. YAY ME!!!

Maryse August 20, 2018 at 9:07 AM

Eggs Benedict is my absolute favorite breakfast. I love that vinegary sauce so much.

R. Renee August 20, 2018 at 9:19 AM

1. I cannot wait for the world to read Bring Down the Stars. We have a big BR going on in my group today and I’m just going to kick back with a big bag of popcorn and watch!

2. I literally have NOTHING to eat in this house but leftover birthday cake (and popcorn), so that’s breakfast.

3. I fell asleep on my back last night and every time I do that I have horrible nightmares. I am exhausted today!

bev August 20, 2018 at 9:26 AM

1. I sleep on my stomach with my pillow all squished up in my face. Not good for my face, but after this many years not changing it.

2. Going into work on maybe 3hrs. Sleep and half a cup of coffee.

3. Started my 5am wake up call with this song:

Traci b. August 20, 2018 at 9:40 AM

I started Emma Scott’s new book last night but I had so much fun this weekend I had to close my eyes haha. also I totally get the lonely part during the week. My husband works nights and we only have our furbabies. My books keep me company.

Jean August 20, 2018 at 10:03 AM

Maryse, for some reason I’m not receiving anyone’s comments even though I’m subscribed. This has been happening for about a week and I feel out of the loop! Help!!!!!

Cheryl August 20, 2018 at 10:21 AM

Good morning!
1. I’m exhausted! My sister is visiting and we have been going non-stop.

2. Walked about 27,000 steps yesterday when we went to NYC.

3. My sciatica is still killing me.

Not much time for reading lately. ;)

Michele G August 20, 2018 at 10:44 AM

1. Two of my three kids are away at school. We kept the last one home for a year of community college. My house is too quiet…

2. I’m still sleeping a recliner … rotator cuff surgery is for the birds… almost 5 weeks out. Just want to be able to sleep in my bed again!

3. Reading/listening to The Kiss Quotient — I love it! It’s different and quirky – really good so far!

Tessa August 20, 2018 at 10:54 AM

1. The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Fall book 5 by Deborah Wilde went live early. I’m reading that now.

2. From yesterday, The Weaving Man isn’t that scary. More tense with bad guys fantasy, but not scary. :)

3. I’m looking forward to the holiday seasons to start. I want everything pumpkin spice. The kids are at school here as of last Thursday, so… Let’s put away the school stuff and give me Halloween!

Leslie M August 20, 2018 at 11:16 AM

1. I am on vacay for few days at beach in Maine. It is so beautiful here. For some reason I am not doing much reading.

2. Can’t wait to read Bring Down the Stars. Not sure when I will get to it but I am gonna read it blind. I did that with In Harmony and it worked for me. If I had known ages of MCs & the whole Shakespeare thing, I would have snubbed it. That book was awesome.

3. I can never perfect poached eggs. Nay, what is the secret? But I am total egg person and love them any which way. In fact I had hard boiled this a.m. at my hotel.

Maryse August 20, 2018 at 11:40 AM

Jean, I’ll try and and out what it is.

Maryse August 20, 2018 at 11:41 AM

have you checked spam folders, promotions folders.. etc? In case the new comment notifications are ending up in there?

Maryse August 20, 2018 at 11:45 AM

Thank you Tessa!! I just added that new release to the post. :) *hug*

Nay August 20, 2018 at 11:46 AM

Leslie–you can try all the different means, a little water/a lot of water; vinegar/no vinegar; swirl the water/don’t swirl the water, BUT if you don’t have fresh eggs, they are going to have the little ‘fingers’ everywhere. If you have the freshest eggs, they stay nice and compact without spreading. Also, the water must be simmering, NOT boiling. I finally found that I get a nice, steady simmer at about a 6 on my burner, but after the first egg or two, I have to ease it down to a 5.

And for the record, I use 3 to 4 inches of water, I DO use vinegar, and I swirl the water most of the time before I pour them in (I break the egg into a little custard cup or small bowl, hold it as close to the water as possible and ease the egg into the water). Cook 3 minutes for runny yolk and voilà!

Last winter I bought 2 dozen eggs and poached them back to back until I got it right. It took about 15 before I started getting it close to perfect, but after that, I could poach several in the same pot at the same time. Then I didn’t make them for a while, so I had to find my groove again this weekend. It only took 2 instead of 15 this time. lol

Nay August 20, 2018 at 11:52 AM

OMG! I can’t believe it’s almost pumpkin spice time again. And you know what that means–peppermint mocha is right around the corner!

Steph N August 20, 2018 at 12:40 PM

One clicked for Emma Scott. Logged into Good Reads a few days ago and there were 4 reviews in a row raving about it.

1- The past few days I’ve been stressing about work stuff.
2- I read three naughtly cheating books (a series) by Giana Darling. Lots of misspelled words and there were some timeline things that were screwy (I didn’t notice ’till I read it in other reviews. I loved it but I may have just been in the mood for some hot sex scenes.
3-Today I’m cleaning. Still my weekend. I work Wednesday -Saturdays

I do still recommend Carian Cole and her series. She’s been dragging on getting the next book out. I wrote her when I first read them to let her know how much I loved them and the next book was supposed to come out at that point in March!

Tessa August 20, 2018 at 12:46 PM

Right, Nay? So school stuff has to go away!

I bought my first Halloween decor of the year. A simple silver skull garland from the dollar store. I’m gonna decorate Little Dude’s room with it for Halloween. He’ll love it. It’s his favorite holiday. (because candy)

Amy August 20, 2018 at 1:43 PM

I’m going to be the odd girl out with Bring Down the Stars. As much as I love the whole love triangle thing, I have the hardest time with books which go the military route because I almost ALWAYS (like, 99% of the time) find something that is inaccurate or implausible and is just plain cringeworthy and I get p!ssed off. And I don’t want to be p!ssed off at that book just because of my issues. Ya know?

But hey! At least there is Satin and Pearls and Hold You Close up there for me! :D

Amy August 20, 2018 at 1:47 PM

Three things:

1. I’m also running on very little sleep. We won’t discuss why.
2. Sharp Objects last night…DAMN!
3. Too tired to think of a third something so this is my third thing.

Amy August 20, 2018 at 1:53 PM

The End of the Affair by Graham Greene is on sale for 1.99, and if I’m reading it right then it’s normally 17.99!!!

If that is the correct normal price, how can they, in good conscience, charge that much for an ebook? Oh well, at least we get a good deal on it today. ;)

Jean August 20, 2018 at 2:29 PM

Ugh Maryse….. yes, they were going to spam! Thank you!

Maryse August 20, 2018 at 3:13 PM

YAY!! And ugh with the fake-spam placement!!

Robyn August 20, 2018 at 3:50 PM

1- Fisher Amelie is the bomb! I’m reading the 4th book Idle in her Seven Deadly series. Her writing is excellent and so real. There is angst, heartache and happiness in the whole series. I always kick myself for waiting so long to read the next book.

2- I started working out for the millionth time today. Starting to feel like my Mother scared me into action. I’m doing it slow with a personal trainer a couple days a week.

3- I’m ready for Fall also. I’m so tired of 100+ heat every freaking day! I’m ready to harvest, but unfortunately in AZ that doesn’t happen until mid October around here.

Tessa August 20, 2018 at 4:30 PM

It’s supposed to be 80 here, but I know what you mean. Usually, this is the worst time until around mid-October when it finally starts to cool down. BUT! Pumpkin Spice makes everything feel colder.

Nay August 20, 2018 at 6:35 PM

Steph–I’m guessing you’re talking about the Evolution of Sin trilogy? I haven’t read that yet (and hate to hear about proofing issues), but have you seen MichelleS and me raving about her Fallen Men series? It’s AWESOME if you love teacher/student, age gap, and taboo,

Amy–I’m hooked on Sharp Objects. Last night was WOW!

Nay August 20, 2018 at 6:35 PM

I love living in the country! Hubs and I just spent the last half hour sitting on our porch and watching 4 mama deer and 3 fawns running around and playing in our front yard while about 20 wild turkey ate the corn we threw out for them.

Nay August 20, 2018 at 6:45 PM

Steph–Duh! I just realized that you’re Stephanie-Steph! lol So obviously you’ve seen me rave about the Fallen Men series on GR. I want to move on to that other series because I’ve seen people rave about it, but for some reason, I haven’t taken the plunge. I’ll move it up on my tbr.

Leslie M August 20, 2018 at 7:02 PM

Nay, I LOL-ed to all your egg tries! Sounds like what I would do. So it sounds like most important tip is fresh eggs. I’ve tried microwaving them and it only works some of the time. I cant even remember how I did it but it was tips from pinterest.

Wild turkeys scare me.

Theresa silverberg August 20, 2018 at 9:39 PM

Yes grabbed Emma Scott’s book. Aly Martinez coming out this week too.

Maryse August 21, 2018 at 9:33 AM

Theresa I LOVE Aly Martinez!!!!!!!

Steph N August 21, 2018 at 8:06 PM

Hey no problem Nay, I’m still a newbie around here. I’ve already downloaded Fallen Men!
