in Latest Book Releases

Happy Monday!!! It’s time again to start the new week and Thanksgiving is almost here and then crazy fun (or just plain crazy) Black Friday!! :D YAY US!! And here are the early bird book releases of the day (I’ll add more as they go live). :D

Three things!

1.) I made pan fried Pork Tenderloins with preserved lemons – super salty and delicious (oh and green bell peppers, onions & mushrooms even though the real recipe only calls for onions – I like more veggies!!) this weekend, in a butter-sage-vermouth sauce. SO. FREAKING. DELICIOUS. It’s a french dish called “Filet Mignon de Porc aux Citrons Confits”. P.S. Here’s a quick video I made of it simmering in the sauce (AND the recipe if you want to go for it).

Back when my sister was first teaching me how to make “Preserved Lemons”

2.) I make my own preserved lemons (my sister taught me) and it’s so easy. Just cut a washed lemon in quarters (peel and all), shove it down into mason jar, squeezing the juices out into the jar as you go, pour kosher salt all over it, then another layer with another lemon and so on. Left in the fridge the lemons soak up all their own juices and salt and become so tender and the peel gets an almost translucence to it, and now you can use them whole in recipes and as garnish. SO yummy! And if you’re not in the mood to make them and wait for them to “do their thing” (takes a few weeks to months), you can get a jar on Amazon!

3.) I made more cute candles on Saturday! It’s such a calming and peaceful hobby. This time I made blueberry muffin scented ones!!

P.S.!!! Here’s the photo from one of Jenn’s three things that she wanted to share with us. OH. MY. HEART!!!

Jenn: oh and three things for me…hmmm

Jenn: Thank you so much he just melts my heart-❤️him

1-Yesterday was my Dad’s BDAY-he is 67! Every year I feel blessed for another year with him. He is one of 6 and out of his 5 siblings he has lived the longest. We lost my Aunt in 1994 (his oldest sister) at 46 years old, and we lost my two Uncles (his only two brothers oldest and youngest) at 61(2011) and 55 (2017). It is so freaking scary. He has two sisters both younger them him still with us. I know I should not think about this but I feel so bad for him. He lost both his parents young too my Grandpa at 55 (I was so young when he died and the only thing I remember is he called me “Jenny Penny” and my Grandma at 67 (we share the same bday, so out of 40 something grand kids I was her favorite :-) and she got to name me too) So sorry for all that just feel extra emotional this morning from sharing his day yesterday.

2-Well after I am sure depressing all of you, sorry not my intention I just emailed Maryse a pic that will make all your days…well at least it did mine. It is my newest nephew rocking is xmas jammies…I know it’s not the 21st of Dec lol but I could not help myself.

3-Did a BR of Cold Cole Heart with Michele G, Nay, Judy, Ela, Lisa however I think Ela and Lisa abandoned us half way through…not sure if they finished but any way so freaking good! Definitely for you Maryse!

Ooooh yum! Maryse, that food looks delish.

I’m not good with cooking pork unless it’s in Crock-Pot.

Anyway, good morning all. More snow coming here.

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 8:28 AM

Good Morning lovelies!

Yes agree with Leslie…YUM and again with the blueberry…I am a blueberry fanatic, food, scents, candles you name it and still looking for the blueberry wine Amy mentioned. I have to have this. STAT :-)

Speaking of crockpot….I put beef stew in crock pot this morning before leaving for work.

Okay I just emailed you Jenn.. :D

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 10:01 AM

Thank you Maryse

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 10:15 AM

1. Dentist went well. He is confused as to why his mouth and nose feel funny though.

2. I’m going antiquing for a bit today. With my newly rearranged room, I’ve decided I need a sofa table and plant stand.

3. Yay for a short week! I can’t wait to eat, eat, eat! People make fun of me for bringing my bags of Tupperware to Thanksgiving, but when I’m eating days after, who do ya think is laughing then?! :P

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 10:18 AM

Maryse, how do you know how much salt to pour on the lemons? And how long do they keep for? Oh! And how big of a Mason jar? I’ll google what I could use them for. I just made creamy lemon basil pasta the other day and it is so yummy!

Maryse November 19, 2018 at 10:25 AM

Okay I added Jenn’s three things at the bottom of the main post today (because it included a photo to melt our hearts!!)

Take a look. :D

This was fun… and now I have an idea. Every once in awhile, we should incorporate our photos into the blog posts if we want to share with our fellow readers.

Maryse November 19, 2018 at 10:25 AM

Tasha… Jasper? ;)

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 10:37 AM

I don’t know how…just email you?

Leslie M November 19, 2018 at 10:46 AM

Yes to pics of J-man!! ;)

So Maryse, these lemon things…once they have “done their thing”, the peel is edible and tastes good??

Jenn, God bless your dad and your nephew is adorable. We have a new baby in my family (my great-niece) but unfortunately she lives far away so I haven’t met her yet. :(

Ok, so I may have mentioned (aka complained excessively) how slump-ish I am? I can’t seem to get excited about Hate Notes (@20%) and I’m few chapters in Kiss Quotient and it’s VERY descriptive. Help!! Why can’t I find a book?!? *rolls eyes at self and my drama*

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 11:10 AM

Thank you Maryse so much!

He is EXTRA special as he is sadly the last one. :-( none of my siblings will have anymore! In total though I have 10. (7 nephews&3 neices) My oldest nephew turned 24 today! My oldest niece 26 so hopefully I can get some great neices/nephews soon. Just don’t tell my brothers/sisters that…Teehee

Thank you Leslie *hugs* and I hope you meet her soon. Babies are just so precious!

Michele G November 19, 2018 at 11:10 AM

Happy Monday…of a short week!!

Jenn, your little nephew is too cute for words!!

1. Really enjoyed the BR of Cold Cole Heart over the weekend. We gobbled that bad boy down. It was very twisty with a surprise here and there.

2. I’ve read some great old school reads lately…tortured my poor heart with Carnage by Lesley Jones last week and loved every tear-soaked minute of it. Then I read Paper Princess yesterday by Erin Watt. It was a good bully book with some angst…reminds me a little of Elite by Rachel Van Dyken. I moved immediately to the sequel, Broken Prince because it leaves you with a doozie of a CH.

3. My college kiddos are home all week for Thanksgiving…enjoying having everyone under one roof…makes my heart full!

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 11:28 AM

Thank you Michele-enjoy your time with your kids. That would make my heart full too!

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 11:33 AM

Leslie, maybe you need a twist of the genre? Something a little out of your norm. Or maybe paranormal, fantasy, historical, etc. I really want to read Michelle Obama’s new book now. And still the new Charlene Harris. Probably Bc I’m still in a Ttue Blood haze. It’s not over yet and I miss it already. Plus, every time Eric and Sookie look at each other I want to cry.
A quick book, that’s what you need. I recommend Justin Halpern’s Sh*t My Dad Says. A palette cleanser.
Or Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker. Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wngate <- not a quick book, but so good. Jojo Moyes One Plus One. Fredrik Bachman’s Beartown.
OH!! I know! I know u used to like Tiffany Snow and I adore this series, especially the early books. Julie Moffett’s No One Lives Twice. That’s the one, I can feel it. ;)

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 11:36 AM

Jenn! What a ham! *heart eyes*

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 11:42 AM

Oh! How about tree shots! I love tree pics. So festive.

Maryse November 19, 2018 at 11:45 AM

Yes… emailing me will be perfect. I will reply to your email and you can attach it in response. :)

Maryse November 19, 2018 at 11:46 AM

Leslie YES!! Completely edible, soft and tender, and VERY salty and sour (because essentially, it has sat in it’s own juices and a ton of coarse salt for months, so it’s cooked itself). LOL!

If you like salty and lemons, this is perfection!!

Maryse November 19, 2018 at 11:49 AM

Leslie

how about we buddy read Heartbreak Warfare? I’m about 30% into it and I already feel like I know where it’s going but I LOVE that… there’s good reason, if it does. But it’s going to HURT.

Love triangle for sure… and the writing is good.

Michele G November 19, 2018 at 12:06 PM

Oh Maryse….you are reading Heartbreak Warfare…sigh…so good.

I would like to second Tasha’s recommendation of Before We Were Yours as a palette cleanser :-) It was a really good book and a little different from what we all read most of the time. I haven’t read Beartown yet (it’s on my TBR) but I did read A Man Called Ove…it moved a little slowly in spots but was so worth the read!

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 12:30 PM

SOdifferent from Ove, Michele. Though I loved Ove, this one tops it. Think of it like Friday Night Lights, except hockey. And a way more serious story line that’ll hit you hard. But, so so good.

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 12:53 PM

I found the blueberry wine in my area, only one place has it and I have to drive 25 minutes to get it but I am so on it….must have this for Thanksgiving/Xmas/New Years! Can’t wait to try it. Hubs is taking me to go get it. YAY ME :-)

Thank you Tasha; he definitely is and he just turned 6 months; already has his two bottom front teeth fully in.

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 12:55 PM

Leslie yes I agree with Tasha it always helps me to read something I would not normally read for whatever reason so I second you reading “Heartbreak Warfare” with Maryse! It really was EPIC!

denisa.zuz November 19, 2018 at 1:16 PM

Can someone please recommend me a book like Hidden seams by Alessandra Torre? Something with hero pretending to be in gay relationship or it can be bisexual hero who falls for girl? Thanks!

Jean November 19, 2018 at 2:43 PM

Jenn! Your nephew’s picture had me smiling… on a Monday!!! Haha!

Maryse, I’m so happy you are reading Heartbreak Warfare! Loved it!!!

1. Ordered first Xmas gifts today from Amazon…. gotta love Prime!

2. So looking forward to a nice long weekend!!!!! Need it bad!

3. I just finished Pestilence and that is my recommendation for Maryse!!! Please!!! (Those of you who have read it know how significant the word “please” is in this book!) You have to read it!

I hope to be able to join in your Christmas party Dec. 21st!!!!

Jean November 19, 2018 at 2:46 PM

Leslie, I totally think you can handle Heartbreak Warfare!!! Do it!

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 3:28 PM

Thank you Jean-no matter the day or mood all I have to do is look at one of his pics or my doggies and it melts my heart and makes me smile. ♥️

bev November 19, 2018 at 4:08 PM

He is very cute in his Christmas pjs.

Just enjoy your dad. I’d lost both my parents by my early 30s and it is very hard even though I was an adult.

Jenn November 19, 2018 at 5:39 PM

Thanks Bev and so very sorry *hugs*

Tasha J November 19, 2018 at 7:55 PM

I think we’re overdue for a Bev quiz. My house is Christmas-y and I was looking at my favorites on Etsy yesterday and came across my Gilmore Girl favorites which makes me think of Bev. And you always get the conversation flowing with those, they’re fun!

Maryse November 19, 2018 at 8:07 PM

bev I couldn’t even imagine life without my mom. She and I are connected almost 24hrs a day on FaceTime, even if we’re not in conversation mode. Just being together like that makes my life so much easier being in an entirely different country from her. I don’t know what I’d do without her.

Cheryl November 19, 2018 at 8:58 PM

Jenn- ADORABLE!!!

Maryse- LOVE all your 3 things. Want to do them all!
