Ohhhh look at this upcoming release!! Before We Were Strangers: A Love StoryΒ isΒ coming out August 18th, from an author that had me falling in absolute LOVE with her characters from another one of her books, “Sweet Thing” (which I five starred). So I can’t wait to feel THIS one.
The author posted a little more about it on her Facebook page:
“First of all, I was more inspired to write Matt and Grace’s story than any other book. I’m dying for this book to come out… For those of you who don’t know anything about it, BEFORE WE WERE STRANGERS is a “love interrupted” story inspired by a real craigslist missed connection post about a guy who sees the “girl who got away” on a New York subway after fifteen years.”
Old college friends… (lovers?) that lost touch so long ago. And then, they see each other again, a fleeting moment, in a subway that is leaving one behind. Here’s a bit from his ad (in the blurb):
I didnβt see you again until a month ago. It was a Wednesday. You were rocking back on your heels, balancing on that thick yellow line that runs along the subway platform, waiting for the F train. I didnβt know it was you until it was too late, and then you were gone. Again. You said my name; I saw it on your lips. I tried to will the train to stop, just so I could say hello.
Can you imagine? Finally seeing again,Β the potential love of your life (that blast from your past) in a fleeting moment, that just… passes by?
βTime passes, life goes on, places change, people change. And still, I couldnβt get Grace off my mind after seeing her in the subway. Fifteen years is too long to be holding on to a few heart-pounding moments.β
How is he going to find her again?!!
βThree seconds doesnβt seem like a long time, but when youβre gazing into someoneβs eyes, itβs long enough to make a silent promise.β
Oh that’s right… he posts his search for her on Craigslist. :D!!! In fact, the author sent me this little tidbit:
“The publisher is even putting it up on craigslist. …okay so here is the fake post the publisher made. It’s either up on craigslist or will be up.”
Wow… I gotta read this SO BAD!!!
And take a look! Another one of my 5-star favorite authors (Taylor Jenkins Reid) loves this new one!
βBefore We Were Strangers is as steamy as it is sweet. With two characters who are meant to be but just can’t get the timing right, RenΓ©e Carlino has mastered the missed connection. I found myself rooting for Matt and Grace at every turn and aching to crawl into the book to go back to the β90s to join them. Evocative, tender, and satisfying, Carlino has outdone herself.” (Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of Maybe in Another Life, After I Do, and Forever Interrupted)
And another one of my favorite authors said this:
βPowerful and poignant, Before We Were Strangers captures the magic and heartache of first love. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.β (Tracey Garvis-Graves, New York Times bestselling author of On the Island and Covet)
YAY US!!! I love LOVE! π
Can’t wait to read!! π
This may be a one click.
I haven’t read her first one yet because of reviews on the heroine, lol. *sigh*
But this has got my attention.
I loved her first one… she’s a great writer, and writes beautiful love stories. Just angsty, too. π
I’ve been waiting for this book for so long I can’t believe its almost here! Yaay!
Can’t wait for this one Maryse!!!
Me too!!!! It sounds sweet and unique and angsty and deep and perhaps maybe even lighthearted…
I want!!!
I pre ordered this ages ago. Cant wait to read it.
Sweet Thing is on my all time faves list. She writes beautiful heart felt and achingly tender love stories…. like a grown ups version of Colleen Hoovers gorgeous young love. Sigh.
I love her stuff. Actually read Nowhere But Here now. really liking it so far. Can’t wait!!!. Love reunion type reads!!!!!
