Have to look at previous books before reading The Game Plan,so I can remember Dex, but I love this series. Sweet Nothing, Serendipity and Front Burner sound good too. I need a funny book after I finish the Truth In Lies series. Maybe Sustained?
Many were saying Sustained was better than the first one (I know someone here did not like the first one because of the a$$ hero – I think it was Lisa)?.
But I received a ton of enthusiastic comments on Sustained…
Sustained was a very good read!!! You will love it!! I think I’m going to The Game Plan. Possibly a big smexy virgin footballer???!!!!* Why yes please*
And he’s CUTE!!!!
JC Diem’s Vampire Matriarch from the Shifter Squad series came out today too!
Super dark read from a few months ago only $1.99 today! The Life of Anna: The Complete Story (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VO86BTG/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_3_1?colid=3R4JJ2Z7815NC&coliid=IG0SWWS79ZB1W)
Don’t be fooled by the 500pgs of Wed To the Bad Boy….it’s half that PLUS a bonus book (an MC book I’ve already read) by the same author.
So many great sounding books!! Thanks Maryse!! I am almost finished with Walk through Fire!!! It’s long but every time I pick it up it sucks me back in!!! Definitely classic KA!! I haven’t been into some of her newer books but this series is awesome!!
I read Resentment on a break from Walk through Fire.. I liked it but the breakup reason was silly so had to give it three stars.
I’m thinking The Game Plan is next even though I didnt finish Friend Zoned… or The Fall Up or Rommates or Sweet Nothing!! Too many choices π
I need something lighthearted and funny after The Truth In Lies. Is the Game Plan funny? Or has anyone read Nuts or Pucked Up (I don’t seem as interested in this one as Pucked). Sustained is funny?? Any suggestions?
The Hook Up was pretty funny and part of the Game Plan’s series. I’m not sure if that one will be as funny, but I’m hopeful.
Seriously Cheryl I’m liking This Much Is True a lot, but sweet baby jesus, I feel emotionally wrung out and I still have a bit to go! I know I will want to go right to book 2 but I may need a break.
Oh and Walking Dead tonight…can’t wait – they better not leave us hanging or I will screeaaammmm!
Can the Game Plan be read without reading the previous 2 books in series?
Michelle, “emotionally wrung out” is a perfect description! I know it’s a tough read when I can’t turn my brain off to go to sleep and keep thinking about the story and then I dream about it. I seriously thought about just stopping at book 1; although I think I’m glad I finished the series.
Yes Maryse….that was me who struggled with the book before Sustained because of the jerk H Stanton (who I still have the urge to throat punch just typing his name :/ ). I didn’t gel with any of the female characters either so it was a bust for me. But there’s loads of great reviews for Sustained…most loved it.
Still on KAs Walk thru Fire but have Game Plan ready to go next.
I’m so tempted by Sweet Nothing….two of my most loved authors…but some of the reviews suggest therapy is required after reading this book…so I’m a tiny bit scared.
Lisa… I kind of like the idea that therapy is required after a book. Means I’m in for something real-feeling… hmmm… that Sweet Nothing blurb sounded awesome and now I’m extra intrigued.
Theresa these books are about different couples/characters with HFN endings no cliffys.
Sustained was great, much better than the first book in series. It was funny and sweet. The H in first book was an asshole. I didn’t even finish it.
Thank you Julie!! I thought I was the only one who dnf and seriously (seriously) disliked Stanton!!
Theresa, they can be read as standalones, but the characters/stories are interconnected and more importantly, book 1 & 2 are great, must reads!!
Finished Sweet Nothing last night because I couldn’t go to bed without knowing what was going on!
Cheryl, my first time posting here . . . I have recently read both of the Pucked Up novels, Nuts, and The Game Plan that was released yesterday. I really enjoyed all four! The first Helena Hunting novel, Pucked Up, is the funniest of these four novels (IMO). I would not The Game Plan as humorous, but it wasn’t too angsty, either. As an aside, I have loved the Game on Series–all three are must reads. I previously started both a Helena Hunting novel and an Alice Clayton novel, and both were DNFs for me, but it has been a while and I decided to try these authors again and I am glad that I did.
A-ha!! So this is where y’all are hanging out…and here I was blathering on and on about pollenating faeries over on Friday’s post. π
I really, REALLY wanted to give Sweet Nothings a go until I saw that it’s dual POV…and it seems like dual POV kills the angst for me nowadays. π Is anyone else going to guinea-pig it first?
Cheryl, I’m only about 30% into This Much is True so it’s still early on for me, but did you have trouble connecting with the characters initially? Or is it just me (again)? Maybe it’s because TMIT is dual POV as well…BUT, I am feeling a niggling of something in my tummy so that’s a good sign of things to come. π
So Beckie, it was pretty good then?
Still reading Two Kings here. Nanowrimo kind of hit, so I’m trying that. I read on the website from a lot of people that all romances have HEA or they are not romances. *blinks* Sorry people, all those crying books you adore and swoon over are suddenly NOT romances. *grins* They just are about a romance and growth, but aren’t romances, nope.
Either that, or we’ve been robbed. *brings characters back to life*
True Tessa… I read that too. So I consider them “love stories”. π
I’m still reading “Room”. It’s SO good, but it’s a bit difficult because it’s completely from a 5 year old’s POV (which is fascinating, but I have to stop and analyze/translate a lot of the things he sees, and how he perceives them as to what “actually” is happening).
He’s highly intelligent though, as all his life his mother has taught him to speak, read, count and memorize… they had nothing else to do…
It comes in handy, though. π
I’m almost done…
Lol, Tessa. That’s what I think. *shrug* No HEA/HFN not a romance.
Susan thanks for the info and welcome!! π I started the Game Plan, not funny but it is pretty lighthearted so far.
Amy, the angst builds in book 1 and because it’s 400 pages it Just. Keeps. Going!! I had a harder time connecting with the second book, because I couldn’t get how the h was handling what was going on, although eventually you better understand where she is coming from. I get what you’re saying about dual POV’s taking away from the level of angst, but I think in these books its adds to it, because you can “suffer” along with the f&cked-up-ness they are both causing and experiencing.
*grins* I still find them to be romances. Not happy ones, but still romance. I think it’s the belief that we are all different opinions, but to force others to have our own opinion is just ridiculous. Though I do like Love Stories. π Much better than “chick lit”.
Maryse I’m happy you’re enjoying Room. The child’s POV was hard to grasp at times but I think the story would have been far more brutal and raw if told from her POV. The child’s innocence softened it down for me. Such a unique story.
Oh and Bev. *huggles from afar cause I know you don’t do hugs* Believing that works too.
Good to know, Cheryl…it’s getting a little better for me, and I think it’s just one of those weird mood things I’m in where it makes it harder for me to connect, ya know?
We had a similar discussion on here about the HEA/non-HEA and romance topic here at one point…I have my own idea of what constitutes a HEA ending and was told in very clear terms (from what I remember) that MY version of HEA is not the norm. π Y’all are the bestest!!
Ok, what is HFN??
HFN = happily for now
Unless I’ve been calling that acronym the wrong thing all along…ladies?
I do enjoy the Happily For Nows… it’s good enough. After all, we never know what the future holds (like perhaps, an angsty, real-life feeling sequel)? π
Yep!
I read Game Plan and did not read the previous ones.I was good with that. It was a great weekend read with not much angst but the dialogue between the H and h was pretty entertaining. And quite sexy. I really liked it!!
And I read the Fall Up too. I like it because of the issues it deals with plus Sam is pretty HOT! It too was a quick read for me.
Not sure what to read…maybe Walking Thru Fire by KA?!?
Thank you Amber! I’m wanting to read the latest KA too, ’cause I gotta know about that really difficult tear-inducing beginning…
HFN = happy for now?
And for this I adore her even more…

Amy, I think that sums up all of us on this blog!! I know it works for me. π
I read Game Plan and while I needed and wanted a light read, which it was, it just didn’t have the humor or “substance” that The Hook Up and The Friend Zone had. I still love this author’s writing style though.
Thank you for the, um, huggles.
*looks slightly askance*
Are we doing huggles cause we are muggles?
Amy, wasn’t yours something like even if all of the MC’s family dies and she’s broke and living in one of Fabi’s boxes in an alley its still an HEA if she has found personal growth & peace?
Lol.
Huggles for the muggles, sure! Huggles just means a snuggly hug. That’s all.
*gasp* Bev! Ooooooh, ya brat!
Hold me back, Tessa…I’m gonna clobber Bev with huggles!!! Hold me back!!!!
*lets Amy loose and grins impishly* Who me?
