It’s Sunday and we’ve got a few Labor Day weekend surprises that just popped up (a new release, a few awesome sales on our favorites, and a couple of releases going live at midnight featuring TWO of our fav authors). I’m LOVING TODAY!
PLUS!!! I just found us some fantastic pre-orders that I had no idea were coming out, and I’m adding ’em to the main pre-order Book Releases” page, but here’s a shortcut (scroll down below) to the newly discovered goodies!!
- Sacked: A Novel (A Gridiron Novel Book 1) by Jen Frederick <— JUST RELEASED!! FOOTBALL STAR (or he’s gonna be one…) but he also wants a girlfriend!! “Sure, she’s the sister of his fellow teammate, but that’s not going to stop him. Especially not when he’s convinced Ellie is the one. …but he’s never met her before.“
- The Paper Swan by Leylah Attar <— ON SALE TODAY (and this is probably the last sale day…) and I LOVED THIS BOOK! (my review – I gave it 5 stars!)
- True Love Story by Willow Aster <— SUPER-BARGAIN SALE and this is another one I 5-starred! (my review)
- Emphatic by Kaylee Ryan <– recent release that seems to be moving up in the charts big time! She got “fooled” by her dreams of a fairytale romance with a… player? in college and now that she’s out and focused on herself… “I didn’t expect him. My new boss, a six foot two, inked rock god. I believed I was working for the record label, I was wrong…”
- No Kiss Goodbye by Janelle Harris <— JUST RELEASED and recommended by Jenny! “If you are looking for a different kind of book… I seriously ugly cried the whole time!” YIKES!! This blurb!!! “Kids change your life, they said. Things will never be the same again, they said. Isn’t it wonderful, they said. But no one knows what to say now. My husband wants to take the kids. My husband thinks the accident was my fault. My husband thinks I need help. But I think he wants rid of me.” (and it’s listed as a psych-thriller!!!)
- Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre <— GOING LIVE AT MIDNIGHT and I’m reading it right now and loving it!!!! 😀 (Yes… I have an early copy). Not her usual “psych-thriller” but contemporary romance (famous actor meets small town woman) that is right up my alley and I LOVE this main character (she’s strong and wiley 😉 ) and this author’s writing style. PERFECT for me. She is one of my FAV authors for sure!
- Best Laid Plans (The Mercenaries Book 1) by Stylo Fantome – GOING LIVE AT MIDNIGHT!! “This is the story of what happens when an unlikely bond is formed between enemies…” Oh I like the sound of that!!!

Cannot wait for Hollywood Dirt Maryse!!! Have a couple others already on my tbr list! Ugh! So little time. Right now I’m very content reading Hold On by KA!! ALL the feels and only 35% in!!! The last of the Burg series….I’m trying to savor the experience of revisiting all the couples we’ve grown to love so much.
Great finds Maryse!! Excited about Sacked, Emphatic, Hollywood Dirt and Best Laid Plans. So basically the entire list lol
Just have to say the cover of Emphatic is so unappealing!
Just read there’s a CH on Best Laid Plans and book 2 is coming out in December so maybe I’ll just wait till both books are out.
Yeah I wasn’t all that into the cover,,, the blurb is just so YES and the cover was just so “usual” *shrug*…
I mean. You know. I’m sure he’s an obvious hottie and all that but the cover….
Oh Linda! I;ve been getting mixed reviews on the latest KA (so many feels and some saying not enough feels) so keep me up to date. 😀
Anne I had the exact same reaction to the cover of Emphatic! Interesting synopsis but cover not so much.
Paper Swans & True Love Story, now those are awesome covers.
I also really like the Christina Lauren covers, though I’ve seen that some don’t. Something about them seem sort of retro and maybe pop art like. *shrug*
Maryse, did you pull a bait & switch on us?
I think so. Think she DNF’d FCH?
NOPE!!!!!
I KNEW YOU GUYS would say that.. nope. I’m reading both!!!!! LOL!
This was just a surprise new “send to me” and you guys KNOW I love Alessandra’s writing…
LOL!
No no no!!! 😛 Serious. Both. I can do it!
But the nails… you guys. THE. NAILS.
How in the?
But no, I’m actually enjoying that one – minus the nutty mother slapping her, and the nails… LOL!
Her ex-bf what. an. A$$!
You can do it!!!!
Youo know, if noothing else, we’ll all have a laugh over the nails. 😛 The slap… well her mother is a real *****
GAH I DON’T LIKE HER MOTHER AT ALL.
What a fake. And an abusive b!tch!!!! And her friends. And her ex.
Although I like Becky… she’s cute. Like an eager lovable puppy. Okay yes, I know i’m in for WAY more than just my “first quarter” updates (I started so late last night) but so far, good!
P.S. I’m old-ish now. Past midnight is HARD for me. I don’t care how much adrenaline rushing I’m getting from a book… unless I’m being flooded with it (like super-thriller or super-angsty or tear-jerker), I’m sleeping… with the lights on and the iPad on my stomach.
Oh and dreaming of the book, continuing it in my sleep… as if I was still reading it. LOL!!! That is always SO funny when I do that.
I love when i dream of a book but it can be slightly confusing.
My problem is recovering from staying up all night. I used to be able to go on with my next day, now not so much. Lol.
I did that with Queen of Shadows. Needless to say, I woke up very frightened. 😛
Ooooo I got True Love Story and preordered Hollywood Dirt….so excited for that one.
I can’t do the midnight thing too well either. I end up falling asleep with whatever I’m reading next to me. NOT safe. lol I’ve crushed more than one book that way.
I didn’t realize that Best Laid Plans was tonight. I’m happy to guinea pig that one too. I don’t mind a CH. 🙂 True Love Story is a rock star book done right? *one clicks* I love rock stars, though I have my issues with them too. 😛 They have to be done right or I start snarling.
I’m going to read whatever pops up on my kindle first; either Hollywood Dirt or The End Game!!! So excited!!!
I did start the first Rylee Adamson book by Shannon Mayer and I’m really liking it…just wish it was longer!!
Reading……..pft.
I just watched a doc but wish there was a great old fashioned rom com out.
*widly waves* Hiii guys! What are y’all up to? Company just left so I haven’t had a lot of reading time today. But, I am so in the mood for some boom talk. Either that or a book so good that I forget to breathe until I’m done with it. ………..
What are y’all doing/reading???
“Boom talk” ?! Whaaaaat? Has my auto correct been drinking behind my back? —- you KNOW I meant BOOK talk. Right? Right? *rolls eyes*
I was wondering if we were going to start talking about bombs. 😛 What book talk? None of us know how to talk about books. Psst… Maryse is reading both FCH and Hollywood Dirt. I guess Hollywood Dirt is super good cause she posted an OMG post on Facebook. So, of course, I had to pre-order it. 😀
Tonight I want something to read that will blow my mind. I think The Lost that I’m reading will eventually do that, but its a slow build (a longer novel) and I just want to dive into something crazy like Bad Things.
You know, sometimes I hate how big my tbr has gotten because I can’t find anything in it. LOL
I saw that Maryse is reading both. I guess that nail scene threw her off FCH. That’s too bad. I didn’t even notice it. I guess I assumed she’d torn or bitten her nails so bad they bled or that she had acrylics in and torebthose off so that her nails bled.
Eh, I just figured she had nails like my mom, where they are so thick, they break and crack under pressure easily.
I should be reading the prequel to an arc, but honestly, the writing isn’t good. I’ll get through it, but I hope the main book’s writing is better. So, instead I’m reading Glimmerglass by Jenna Black. It had Fae in it, so… It’s not great, but it’s good. Honestly, I still don’t know what’s so great about what she is. It sounds like she’d be good at making money?
boom talk. My autocorrect would change books to boom all the time.
And yes you guys, Hollywood Dirt sounds like your typical actor meets normal girl, and it isssssss…. (so I hesitated a bit ’cause I love my adrenaline rushes these days)
but the characters are awesome and the writing is amazing. You guys will love it. It’s pretty much perfect.
I am reading Hollywood Dirt as soon as it arrives on my Kindle 😀 I haven’t read anything by this author but heard nothing but good things about her.
Ooooooh, does Hollywood dirt have Love Unscripted feels?? Even if it doesn’t, it is by Alessandra Torre so we can’t go wrong! I’m preordering that one, and I just clicked No Kiss Goodbye. BUT I’m still committed to reading Sweet Dreams first so I have to wait. *pouts* Unless I pull a Maryse and attempt to read SD and HD at the same time…nah, that never ends well for me. Kudos to y’all who can do that. 😉
Ugh, the nail scene in her dad’s office in FCH. *cringe* Blech. One thing I can say is that Tijan’s writing seemed to really develop over the subsequent FCH books. I don’t know if any revamping or edits were done from when I read it (it still had the sketch of the girl for a cover when I read it), but I loved it with the “indie” feel to it.
Oh. Sure. Fabi’s AUTO CORRECT has been drinking. Mmm. Hmm.
Amy, have you started SD yet?
I have, Bev! 😀 Just started it earlier this evening and haven’t gotten very far, but I love that she is middle-aged and describes herself as having a less than perfect body…so different from my usual reads! And her husband and so-called friends…gah! I wanna throw my drink on all of them! Except that would be a waste of a perfectly good strawberry ale. 😉
*snicker* I saw “boom talk” and thought that meant she was feeling a little hyper and ready for some enthusiastic chatting…
No no no!! No ghost stories at 9 at night. That’s just wrong. So very very wrong.
“Enthusiastic chatting”? *scratches head* I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Lol
9? It’s a quarter till midnight. *snicker*
Almost 10 here so I still have a good two hours ahead of me!
Enthusiastic chatting…wrong choice of words? 😛
No stick with enthusiastic chatting or even bloody finger nails–just not real ghost stories.
Boom talk makes me think of Copper Boom.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dN3QokD0qp0
Bloody fingernails…bloody Mary.
*shudders* I never did that when I was younger and I never will. Never.
That was cute, Bev. 😉
And you know your suppose to do that in a bathroom, right?
*shudder*
Darn it. I’m too old not to use the bathroom before bed, thank you very much.
I know!! My friends could never talk me into it. Even now as a grownup I wouldn’t do that.
Lol, using he bathroom before bed just means you won’t have to go in there in the middle of the night…so thank your bladder for that! 😉
Hi Maryse
dont know if you have picked up any of Lauren Gilley’s book (especially her MC stories) but this author is on my “raedar” now. I couldnt put her books down and she has a “kristen ashley” feel about her writing. Give them a try as they are definitely worth a read.
The Gypsy Brothers series by Lili St. Germaine is a bundle for only $0.99! So I one clicked it, because I’ve been curious. 🙂
You all were talking about Bloody Mary close to midnight or whatever that time really is? Uh uh. The only Bloody Mary I want to see is Supernatural so I can stare at Dean Winchester, and even that one gave me nightmares! I don’t even like the drink. I refused to do the bathroom thing. Just pure nope.
Aw Tessa, Bloody Marys are yummy! The best one I had was at a mountain resort we went to a couple of years ago, and it had celery and asparagus spears along with a good-sized crab leg. Mmmmmm…
Thanks for the heads up on the Gypsy Brothers bundle! Definitely one-clicking it. 😀
You’re welcome. On the drink, I’m just not a fan of Tabasco sauce, and you can taste it in those. Yuck.
Ew, I’m not big on Tabasco sauce either (more of a Frank’s hot sauce girl) so I always get my drink without it.
Heya all. Back to work tomorrow…wah!
I am debating between The Lost (with that awesome warning the other day) and something from my TBR.
I’m still reading The Lost. I’m highlighting like crazy. It’s been a long time since I felt compelled to highlight a book, but this author, aahhh this author…
It actually too me a while to get into this book. There’s quite a bit of world building even though it’s not fantasy. I think it was near 30% before I started really connecting with the heroine. And it was after the 50% mark when it became so gripping I couldn’t put it down. It’s a pretty long novel, so at 70% I still have a ways to go and I’m totally invested now.
My latest highlight:
“I think I’m a pretty textbook case of the broken doll.”
“Does that make me the scarred antihero?”
“Pretty sure that makes you an asshole.”
*snort*
Sacked and Emphatic look good. Reading Hollywood Dirt. I agree Maryse, I love this author’s writing!!
*sigh* I just finished The Lost. There are some beautiful afterwords from the author at the end of the book.
I don’t know how I feel about the story. It isn’t your typical dark read. It’s more of a story dealing with difficult topics. I’m going to sleep on it before reviewing it in GR.
My next read is a PNR arc, so my tbr will have to wait one more book. 🙂
