Oh! Love a long Monday list!
Sharon this one is particularly exciting. :D!!
I’m baaaaack!!!! Maryse we must have the same early morning hours!!! Have a great day everyone!!! Actually it’s a Monday. Ugh
Welcome back Linda!!! And an early good morning to you (late). 😛
Fallen Crest Home is LIVE?!?
*squeals and hops in place like a deranged Easter bunny*
Oh crap, wait…I still have to read Logan. TESSA!! Do I need to read Logan first???
Thank you, Maryse…what a great start to our week! 😀
Nope. I thought you had? I just bought it. I’m loving what I’m reading but it’s being shunted to the side.
Nah, I never did get to Logan (as much as I adore him) but I’m thinking I may have to take a detour to Fallen Crest before starting Figure Eight. I have 10% left of Bared to You (and I am lovin’ the old-school feels I’m getting from it! :D) and then I will probably pay a visit to your book husband. *snort*
Squee! Sh*t! I’m supposed to be doing a buddy read of TBatS! Guys!!! It’s Mason and Logan and Sam! and all the gang is here! *tosses confetti* And the book buying restriction is OVER!!! *fills my wine glass and dances next to the computer* Oh I am so excited!!! When are we starting THIS buddy read? Are you guys going to finish your current reads first?
lol I ended up still reading Cinder and Ella. I love the emotions in it, though when they mention V is for Virgin (Also by the same author) it makes me go GRRRR. That’s the one that takes place in Huntington Beach and Huntington Beach High School and drove me insane as a result. I’ve only had one of those moments with Cinder and Ella. “There isn’t any good Mexican food near by. The closest is Culver City, 2 hours away.” They are in LA. WTF? Even in LA traffic you are looking at a max of 45 min, and there are a billion wonderful, authentic Mexican restaurants in LA. *face palms*
Temptation is killing me! Fallen Crest Home is Live!!!
Somebody quick, superglue my fingers together so I can’t squirrel.
I’m finally reading The Last Girl which I’ve been wanting to read since Maryse first posted it weeks ago. Plus it’s my “pick-for-me” pick. So, nope, nope, I can’t squirrel. Can’t can’t can’t but wanna wanna wanna.
I know Fabi, the struggle is REAL!!!
I’m kind of wishing I did squirrel. Mine is making me cry.
I can’t remember where I left off with Fallen Crest series! UGH!! Have to go back and do some research and get myself caught up.
In other news, I finally read Exaltation of Larks. OMG!!! You guys were so right. It was awesome. % stars. Loved it. Can’t wait for the new follow up book. It was my “Pick for Me” book, but I guess it could also count as my April Challenge (read a book everyone has read except for you) book? Can I count it as both? LOL.
Now I need to reconsider Fish Tales, because it’s the same author!!! Certainly it must be equally as amazing? Why did I not go pat the sample from Kindle?? Huh huh? Someone tell me it’s as good as Larks.
It’s better MichelleS! Just totally and completely different. I have it in my car on audio a (*read* it first though) and whenever I go anywhere, it’s on. I JUST came home from the store and didn’t want to get out of the car because I couldn’t stop listening to it.
I have never posted on here before (so you’re pulling me out of lurking status) and I have not read Exaltation of Larks yet – – it’s sitting in my TBR- – but I have to tell you Fish Tales was amazing!
Michele!!! *hug* So glad you’re out of lurking and we are HUGE Suanne fans here!
Read Fish Tales, MichelleS!!! SOOO good!!
And read EofL, Michele!!! Also SOOO good!!
Wow! Is the Fallen Crest series *that* good?? I haven’t read any of them, but have them all, I think, except for today’s release.
*grabs wine from Grey and gulps it down*
*wipes mouth with back of arm*
I couldn’t have you spilling it and wasting it now, could I? 😆
MichelleS, I agree with the others, Fish tales is even better than Larks.
Well, I guess I know what my “read something everyone else has read” book is going to be! But there’s THREE books, right?? My CR patience is only so long.
TBH Michelle, I only read the first one. You know I prefer male POV and the 2nd book is the story in “her” pov.
Fabi…is it The Last Girl by Kitty Thomas? I REALLY liked that one! Dark and vampire-y and PHEW! *fans self* Typical Kitty Thomas hawtness.
Hi and welcome Michele!! *bear hugs Michele* So glad you came out of lurking. 😀
Hold up!!! MichelleS, you **really** should read book 2 to get the FULL effect. It’s a freaking awesome book by itself, and no, there isn’t a CH, BUT, book two is what takes it from being an awesome book to a masterpiece. It fills in all the blanks, even the ones you didn’t know were there.
Amy, it’s The Last Girl, book 1 of the Dominion Trilogy by Joe Hart.
It caught my eye when Maryse first posted it. Then the 3rd book came out and she posted the reading order.
I’ve been dying to read it forever it seems. I’m sorry I can’t link her posts. I suck at finding things on this site.
Anyways, I just started it today and so far so good.
Wait wait wait!!! Fabi are you reading it??!!! I wanna read it!!!
*backtracks through comments*
Yep Nay, for us Fallen Crest is THAT good. I read the first (Fallen Crest High) years ago when it was the only one out and had the original cover and LOVED it, then I came here and found out others loved it just as much, and I was thrilled. It’s one of the very few I have followed and kept up with over the years, and I love, love, LOVE Sam, Mason, and Logan. LOVE THEM.
The writing improved as the series went on (even from the first book to the second book), and it has been great to see the growth in that area for Tijan.
Also, we have a girl crush on Sam and there is a huge love for Mason, Logan, and Nate. Even Adam gets love.
FYI, Mason’s mine, K? 😛
sure am Maryse. Finally! I just started it today, so I’m not far into it yet. I’m definitely intrigued.
I’m starting it this weekend… (or earlier) but I have an ARC that I want to finish first…
Hmm. Maybe I should go back to Fallen Crest. I just didn’t love the first book like everyone else did, so didn’t go further. But you say the writing gets better, Amy? Maybe I need to give the series another shot…. *scratches head indecisively as considers length of tbr*
Hi Michele. Welcome hugz! I loved ExoLa. Didn’t know there was a follow up book coming, Michelle S. Great! But I couldn’t get into Fish Tales. 🙁 So it’s on my tbr challenge list (I think for the try, try again month?) After loving ExoLa, I’m gonna give Fish Tales a red hot go this time.
Fabi is also SUPER EXCITED that she is reading Simon this month.
SUPER EXCITED
OL bev!!!!!!!
So, I finished a book today!! Slump- over. Wild Reckless, finally. It’s been on my tbr for a long time and better yet, I feel like it could count towards my April challenge read. I really loved the writing, the story, and it had some old school feel. I think my only issue is I wish it had a bit more angst and at times I was irritated with Kensi. I wish she had a bit more of a backbone and I also thought the relationship was unhealty. But, it was thouroughly entertaining and I got out of my funk so I call it a win. 🙂
You should review Partly Pumping, by Victoria Devino! Its on Amazon and I am obsessed. Such steamy scenes, but it is so empowering with a strong female voice. This reminded me of it a little…awesome.
I just finished Sempre by J.M. Darhower. I am so embarrassed to say that I bought it in 2013 and FINALLY read it!! It was so good. I couldn’t sleep last night as I stopped with 80% read and wanted to see how it ended. I can’t wait to start Sempre Redemption. It makes me wonder how many treasures are just sitting on my Kindle waiting to be read!!
Ooooh thanks Kathy! I have both of those!
Yeah Kathy P, Sempre’s been on my tbr for quite a while too. Isn’t it great when you finally get around to reading one of those books you’ve been meaning to for ages and it turns out be a good one? I’ll get to Sempre eventually too.
LOVE THEM.
And yep Jan, the writing improved as the series went on (even from the first book to the second book), and it has been great to see the growth in that area for Tijan. 😀
Jan is reading Night Owl, going in completely blind.
She doesn’t even know how it relates to Manny–so no one say.
However, she was not won over by the bunny on his little harness so outlook may be bleak.
Fabi PROMISED to read Simon. I’m going to live vicariously through her. Unless she eviscerates him…..
I doubt Fabi will eviscerate Simon. He’s in good hands.
I’m not so sure about Manny though, although mind you, it was once there was vulnerability that I truly went crazy … it all. 😉
OMG bev. Please tell me you can open this. https://www.facebook.com/FirstMediaBlossom/videos/10154486495714586/
OK, so I guess I’ll be reading Fallen Crest soon…
bev–I was watching 13 Reason Why on Netflix and went to IMDB to look something up about it and one thing connected to another and I saw this–have you seen it?? You may have mentioned it and I missed it:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5164432/
Must.stop.reading.
Must.sleep.
Can’t.stop.
Fabi is it awesome?????
Hehe Fabi…we can all relate to that well. SO well. 😉
Nay, I’ve been meaning to watch that. I read the book and it broke my heart. Broke. My. Heart. Especially as he is listening to the last tape and then the two words at the end of side two of the seventh tape. *SOB* But it had an important message as well. Such a heart wrenching, great book.
Amy–the series was mesmerizingly tragic (and, of course, heart-breaking), like an accident you just couldn’t look away from. I had a really hard time not putting myself in the role of ‘parent’ as I watched (except for the fact that most of the parents were either OTT in-their-kids’-business in an obnoxious, embarrassing way or complete douchebags).
When I was done, I had to look for further info (you’ll see why when you watch it), and I learned that it’s quite different from the book. They changed a lot of things–added WAY more side-story drama. It actually made me think that I wouldn’t enjoy the book quite as much if I tried to read it now (so if anyone is going to do both, I suggest reading the book first).
But you’re right– both the series and the book carry a very important, enlightening message that will hopefully have a impact on young people/parents/school admin. in similar situations.
I agree completely Nay with everything you said about the series, checking out more info after, not sure I’d want to read the book. I was screaming at those kids the whole series. I’d look at my husband, ‘Can you BELIEVE so and so would just?! I mean…’ lol, he thought I was over invested just a tad..
R, LOL. Could you imagine someone bringing those to a pot luck or baby shower? Lol.
Nay, Yes, I know. You have to read the book first.
Maryse, I can’t put it down. I stayed up late reading. I got up early to read. Then I took a two hour lunch reading (oops). It’s dystopian with a bit of apocalypse and a dollop of thriller. It’s kept me on the edge of my seat so definitely working up to a 5 star for me.
No, of course I won’t eviscerate Simon. I know he’s Bev’s favorite. I may or may not like/finish the book. But I’ll try it, give it my best shot and let you know if I loved it or if it wasn’t really my “thang”.
Although, as badly as bev went off on Thoughtless, idk, we may need to give her a little of her own medicine. 😉
LOL.
Fabi, you try and read Thoughtless!
