Guess what I did this weekend? I met up with some of our fellow book friends! *squeeeeee* I was so excited! A few I had already met (Sherry – from Utah and Penny from here in Florida) but THEY hadn’t met each other yet, and we all still had yet to meet Jimi Ann (from North Carolina). So we got together, and had a blast! I warned them all in regards to my Canadian cooties (although I’m finally getting over that cold!), and I did my best to restrain my creepy coughing fits (ew)! Yep… for a few days, last week, I sort of transformed into that sickly, drippy, wheezy, pale yet puffy-eyed person you avoid like the plague in the grocery store. But a week of bed rest and book-reading and a few choice medications helped tons, and I was ready for human interaction again!

And we totally talked books! Other stuff, of course, but I was very excited to have a live “book-club-like” conversation with fellow book enthusiasts. And later this week, I’ll be meeting up with them again, along with Jackie (who just arrived, all the way from England!) and JennB (from Texas)!! So…. here we are :)

Sherry, Jimi Ann, Maryse and Penny!

But for now, I’ve decided to catch up on a bit of author news, and thought I’d list it here. Of course some of this isn’t really “news” anymore, but still exciting enough to post ;)

  • Jamie McGuire announced some exciting news regarding her upcoming book release from Travis’s POV:

“I can’t wait to share the title of Travis’ POV! I will discuss the cover with the artist next week, and once it’s finished, I will release it!”

  • Kristen Ashley’sLaw Man (Dream Man Series)” (Mitch’s story) is out and ready to read!! Remember the detective who had a serious crush on Hawk’s woman? I just downloaded my own copy. :)
  • Kristen also announced that she is working on Tack’s book (Motorcycle Man) as we speak and has released the first 5 chapters for preview!!
  • Lauren Dane has a novella expected out soon (from the Brown Siblings series) –> Laid Open (expected release date: September 2012) – author says: “This is a digital only novella featuring Ben, Todd and Erin from LAID BARE” I also updated the reading order guide to include the upcoming novella AND her “Delicious” spinoff series.
  • Kresley Cole’s upcoming YA series (The Arcana Chronicles) will release book #1 (Poison Princess) October 2012. She spoke about it in her Q&A session at her recent “Lothaire Signing” – check out my video where she speaks of it, here.
She also describes it on her Facebook (and it is featured on USA Today’s online article):
“Basically the Arcana Chronicles Series is about the trump cards in a Tarot deck, the Major Arcana. Imagine if Death, the Lovers, the Fool, El Diablo, etc. were real kids with superhuman abilities. For instance, the Magician is an illusionist, while Death is a master at arms with a lethal touch. These Arcana Cards have to band together in different alliances to defeat other “hands”.The hero is Jack Deveaux, a Cajun boy from the wrong side of the bayou, a biker who’s just been released from a cage-the-rage detention center. Because of his brutal childhood, he is used to defending himself, which comes in handy after the apocalypse. Damaged, protective, and intense, Jack is one of my favorite heroes! The heroine Evie Greene, once the most popular girl in h.s., is dryly funny, outwardly brave, yet vulnerable (her strange new powers secretly terrify her). Writing Jack and Evie was so much fun–they were pretty much combustible on every page they’re together! If you like dark heroes(!), clever heroines, blood-sport, romance, and humor, you might want to give POISON PRINCESS a try this October!”
  • Wooooo hooooo!!!! E.L. James made the New York Times BEST SELLER LIST!! —> (She holds the #27 spot for Fifty Shades of Grey, by E. L. James (The Writer’s Coffee Shop)
  • E.L. James is also giving away one copy of the trilogy (signed!!) — check her website blogpost for details
  • Thea Harrison unveiled her book cover on her Facebook page stating:
“I’m delighted to share with you the fabulous cover of Natural Evil, my Elder Races e-novella that will be published by Samhain on Mar 20th. Meet Luis. You’re welcome.”
  • For those of you wondering about when “Effortless” will be released, S.C. Stephens posted this on her Facebook page:

“Ordered my proof copy of Effortless today! I should be getting it sometime next week. If everything looks good, you’ll be able to purchase the hard copy very soon! (The ebook will take me a couple more weeks…sorry!)”

Okay wait… more to come. Gotta get chicken soup. Husband is now moaning that he caught my cooties. *woops*

God! I can’t believe that BD from Travis POV is really gonna happen. I’m SO excited! Which one do you think it’s gonna be better?! I don’t know, but i bet it’s gonna be his book.

Oh yeah… Law Man from KA. I read it. It’s great Maryse. I didn’t love it as much as i loved Mystery man from the same series. And i could’n read wild man (Tess and Slim as characters didn’t worked for me) but Law Man is good. Not her best book, but stil… Mitch is so much better that i already thought. From all the five alpha males(Tate, Hawk, Max, Lee and Mitch) i have known, i guess Mitch is the most sweet from all of them. The heroine is not my favorite as Gween and Nina is for me, but she’s also good. But really!!!? Tack’s book is definitely the one i want. lol

Wow SO good EL James made the new york times list. Im happy for fer. Although i thought she was already there… hahaha i mean, with that trilogy… Do you know what it’s gonna be her next project?

Maryse February 16, 2012 at 11:56 AM

Carla… no clue yet as to EL’s next project, other than I think the Fifty trilogy is being optioned for a movie!!!

Slim’s book was good, but it didn’t rock my world, and really, TACK is who I’m anxious to read. Mitch is already in my iPad just waiting for me ;) LOL!!

And oh yes, Travis’s POV – WOW!!!! I can’t wait. I’m beside myself!
