Hope you’re having an amazing week 🙂 I needed some help finding a book I read a while ago.
The h is down bad financially and has no where to stay. She goes to her best friends place who she knows since they were kids – the friends parents either fostered the h or they lived next door to each other growing up.
I remember the friend has a brother who likes the h but it’s not reciprocated. He even try’s to buy her a cellphone for her safety but she doesn’t accept it.
Her friend lives with a roommate who I remember was extremely anal about making sure no one ate her food and she would count her bread and eggs to make sure or something crazy like that. Anyways, the roommate gets murdered and the h goes inside the roommates room and sees an invitation for an event (job opportunity type) as well as a dress/heels laid out. She doesn’t know what exactly its for but she decides to go pretending to be her hoping to make money.
Once she gets there it’s like this super posh and private venue with lots of security (I remember she had to show her invite to a bouncer to get in) with lots of gorgeous girls waiting for their turns. When it’s her turn to ‘audition’ security blindfolds her and takes her to this room where the H comes in. I don’t think he says anything the whole time, he just looks at her and leaves and she has no idea who it was (she’s still blindfolded). She ends up getting selected but I don’t remember what exactly it is that she’s getting selected for 😂 maybe a fake girlfriend or marriage of convenience type of situation? I’m not sure,
I do know the H was this super rich and famous guy, maybe involved in crime/mafia? There was also this house that was super special to the h – I think it was her childhood house and the H buys it for her without telling her.
Hopefully this rings a bell for someone! I know I remember a lot of details but don’t remember much at the same time LOL
Anyone have a guess?
Kelly: Ahhhhh, I am almost positive I read this but can’t remember the name of the book. Was it in 2021?
Kendra: Sounds like Machiavellian by Bella di Corte
Tooba: Yess, It’s Machiavellian! Thank youuu Kendra!
Maryse: YAY!!! Another one solved and it sounds so good!! Thank you Kendra!! 😀
Nicki: Oh wow. I read this awhile ago and I remember being so intrigued and exasperated with h..lol.. I’m going to reread this too. Just in time for the weekend.
