Several years ago I read a book that the heroine was in a psychiatric hospital.. she was only lucid for a very short period of time.
The hero..an orderly?? Discovered a way to help her become more and more lucid as time went on.
I believe it may have been part of a series as in a secondary character had her own story afterwards.
I thought it may have been called ten seconds or something similar but a search for “10 seconds “ only brings up other books.
