Reader Question – The book about the girl who left her abusive ex, but has to go back and live with him due to his mental health…

Courtney needs our book help! Yikes!!!! This book would scare me, truly. Escaping abuse is a dream come true, so having to go back to that situation sounds like a nightmare to me.

Although… it almost sounds like Beautiful Disaster. 😉 Just sayin’ (I dunno that I’d say he was abusive… more like controlling and out of control in his jealousy).

But you know, his whole breakdown when she left, and needing her with him, and his best friend dating her best friend, and everyone wanting them together etc etc… And boy did I love that red-flag laden disaster! What a story.

I have searched high and low but I’m not having any luck!! I have had this scene in my head for 3 days and I’ve gone through my kindle and goodreads but still can’t figure out the book.

The FMC left her abusive ex and had either moved towns or school (not sure which), however at one point she had to go back to the ex and live with him for his mental health.

The ex’s best friend kept trying to get the FMC to go back to the MMC and her best friend who is dating the MMC’s best friend i think.

I really hope that all made sense! I really need help in figuring this book out please!!

Simone: Yes, it was based on Stephanie Land’s 2019 memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive.
