Reader Question – The book about the heroine that has a skin disorder where she can’t go out into the sun…

I am trying to recall a book (think it’s the first in a series) and could use some help!

The heroine has a skin disorder call XP – xeroderma pigmentosum which is rare and doesn’t allow her to go out in the sun. She works at home and runs alone at night in the woods.

She catches the attention of the hero who leads/is part of a group who are either genetically enhanced or shifters (I can’t remember which!) and romantic suspenseful drama ensues.

Any help is appreciated as it’s driving me a bit crazy – thanks!

Kris: I think it could be Anna del Mar’s Ajax – first book of the Alpha Heroes/Battle Brothers series. Nothing paranormal, but the heroine has XP, meets the hero while running at night and he is the leader of a group of former military guys who now do secret international security work. Good luck!

Amy: Not paranormal, but Axe by Carol Dawn has a very similar storyline.
